the speed they are traveling at is insane. it would mean that without magic or some kind of space ship it is impossible to keep in front of the moving edge. how do any lord faction have a chance?

The Inventory held the things he definitely didn't want to lose. A stack of about 30 mediocre iron bars, a stack of 10 brass rods, leather, a stack of 35 water bottles, 1. 5L each. One slot was his Grandfathers cane, and he also put his fathers binoculars in there, so they wouldn't break if he fell or something. Author here. Plugging my own story. Its a dark version of a dungeon master story. The main character is new to everything and will have a lot of difficulties to get over. This is my first book and I am learning all the time so please give it a try if you think the concept sounds good.
