He laughs at the Indian guy because he made a simple mistake, I like how the author specifically dialogues the Indian to say a long the lines of “they don’t listen to me because they are racist”. While the main character points out the fatal mistake.

Pretty sure having a staff is way better than a spear, If you are using a spear you are focusing on hitting with the top while with a staff you can use both sides with more flexibility.
