If you truly want to know why, then it’s because of the word count. Authors on this platform artificially up their word counts by having characters ponder over things that really don’t need pondering, or just overall have them struggling with simple concepts so that other characters can then explain those concepts in vivid detail. On a platform where you can only enter the rankings depending on word count, people do this all the time. It’s also a frequent ccurence with newer writers who think their readers are dumber than average.
