i would say it's far fetched but this happened to me when i first got a debit card which failed to work and the guy at the dinner refused to take a check.

While the story is translated fine I cannot get behind a story where the girl is raped, mistreated and then forgives the man. WHile I am sure that it happens in real life, much less a fantasy novel, I just see it as acceptance when written about in a loving way and a rapist should never be forgiven imo
