I thought of that too but I discarded the notion. If such was the case I wonder aside aside from praising the meager accomplishments of a youth why bring it up as if it were some grand accomplishment. If what you mentioned was the case I would expect him to instead say she is far better at mana control than most humans. Not something to the equivalent of the MC wearing heavy weights yet saying "Its impressive that she can move more graceful than I." It wouldnt be a comment about her being more competent. Instead it would be that she is less burdened.
