This story is fascinating and the genre is one of my favorites: character steps into a simulation, makes gains, and then uses those gains in his home world. I have been reading light and web novels since 2015 and have completed many of varying degrees of quality. The original story here is excellent and the worlds are rich and engaging. However, there is a big problem with this version of the novel: either the author or the translator has no idea how to use pronouns. the protagonist is a man, but the story repeatedly refers to him as she and her all the time. The author refers to female characters as he or him all the time. The dialogue is sometimes incomprehensible when a man and woman are talking. Who is whom? I can excuse some typos because the world is so rich, but misuse of pronouns is really egregious. There’s a chapter in which the protagonist has a conflict with a sect and sometimes the author calls the sect “he” other times he calls the protagonist “they” “she” and “it.” If this translator could fix these issues, this story could be as good as “Hail the King” “48 hrs a day” or “Fanstasy Simulator.” Maybe not “48 hrs a day” but as good as the others. Until someone fixes it, this novel is only worth reading of the reader commits to reading an hour at a time so the plot changes can reveal what happened when the unclear pronouns do not.
This is the second best of this type of novel, and it has the potential of being one of the best on here. I hope that either the translator or the author resumes this story. Top 15 all time on this website, including novels uploaded when everything was free. Top 4 of all time of the type in which the protagonist can enter a hidden space and train: (1) 48 hours a day, (2) Castle of Black Iron, (3) Hail the King, and this one is next. Honestly, it was improving and I hope it returns.
This series is steadily improving! It is waay better than most stories here and now on the same level as "The Oracle Paths" and "Hail to the King." It's not quite as good as either story yet, but it's getting there. The best of the second life genre is by far 48 hours a day, but this one is rapidly climbing. Does anyone know if there are any other stories like the ones above, in which the protagonist enters a different world and gains strength which he uses in his original? I am becoming more and more impressed with the genre.
More than worth all of the money I paid in spirit stones to read it! One of the best in Qidian. A level below I Shall Seal the Heavens, City of Sin, and Warlock of the Magus World, but only one level. Right there with Castle of Black Iron, the Teacher novel, Martial World, and Desolate Era. A solid "A." I strongly recommend it and rank it as one of the ten best I have read on Qidian, Wuxiaworld, or any of the free novel sites. Truly excellent. I was even a bit sad it was done.
The best novel that I have read on Qidian. This is up there with City of Sin, Warlock of the Magus World, and I Shall Seal the Heavens. Very different from those three, this novel is the best I have read in the Magical Realism genre. There is Fantasy Simulator, which is also good, but this one is the best of its kind. It's like a better, more gangster and action-packed version of American Gods mixed with the show Quantum Leap. Truly a gem. I think its probably close to ending but I hope not. This author now has a new fan.
This was one my favorite guilty pleasure novels. I would read it each day to get my fix of face-slapping. However, one of its principal appeals was the regular release schedule. If it is being translated, then these are the breaks. I hope that the releases can continue as this was my pre-work treat.
