Another year passed I have 2 years old. in this one year, I create a skill using Psychic power. I was taking advantage of my sleeping hours to invoke [Fly] so that I would pass out in bedtime. In this year Kushina teach me how to read some characters.

In this one year, I haven't done much else other than memorizing words so that I could speak, therefore most of the time, I just spent it dazing around, the fact that I've got something useful to do these past several days has given me a sense of accomplishment.

After eating my breakfast, we immediately began our class of learning the characters.

This system of character is hard to understand, In this system of characters there doesn't seem to be an phonographic writings, instead this system is logographic writing system. 

The way we practiced was by putting sand on a plate and their using our fingers to write the characters.

The shape of the characters didn't have many curves, and most of the words were composed of straight lines.

I repeated que process over and over again, there came a day when I could read and write the basics, so I asked for books to read. During this period I managed to read 6 illustrated books and with that I managed to acquire some stats points, discovery: studying writing and reading guarantees XP, very little, but it is already a start. 

The gains for that period were 5 points in Intelligence, 4 points in Wisdom, 365 points in MP and 365 XP, one for each day of the year. Other than that, I reached Max level in Fly.

Another year passed I have 3 years old. in this one year, I create another skill using Psychic power: [Telekinesis], furthermore, my reading and writing is much better, I can read academic books without problems.

During this period, I didn't just read, every morning Kushina and I left the house, sometimes we visited the park and sometimes we visited Mikoto house, while a shadow clone created by Kushina trained Mya elsewhere, when I found out I asked to attend the training, however Kushina said he would teach me fuinjutsu and techniques for shaping chakra after I am three years old, I am almost sure it is leaf technique, climbing trees and walking in water. I think it's useless for me ... I can fly what a difference it will make - sorry I can't say that, well I think I will have to 'learn' as soon as possible then.

When we visited the park Kushina left me in the sandbox with the other children, however I didn't find anyone from Naruto's class… without having children worth talking to, all I did was build things out of sand and clay without stopping using [Telekinesis], maybe it will be useful in the future who knows ... this game was kind of good, it gave me the skill [Craft]. Every day we went to the park, I kept grinding XP for these two Skills.

When we visited the Uchiha compound, more precisely Mikoto's house, well I got wooden shurikens and wooden Kunais, which made me happy… that's not what I meant, on our visits I became friendly with little Sasuke, well it was good boring actually all this boy says is how good his brother Itachi's, how he is the badass for having completed the academy and became a Genin at the age of 7… I think if it weren't for Gamer's Ming I would have done him pass out using something with Telekinesis …

In addition to leaving home, I managed to do a session of basic physical exercises every day, after all I feel a little freer at my room, Kushina and Mya are no longer on my tail all the time. During this period I managed to grind 1000 XP with exercises and Books, 350 points in MP for letting the MP reach 0, 10 points in Strength and 12 points in Vitality doing exercises, 5 points in Intelligence reading books, I didn't gain anything in Wisdom I think ... do I need to find someone to play Chess or Shogi ...?

I could say so much about this topic, but I want to keep it this length for now, and only divulge further into how bad the system is when the time is right and I have more knowledge on the subject.
Not very long ago, there was a child who felt like they couldn't do anything right. Their teachers at school were always telling them how bright and clever they were, and they just needed to worry less. But they had so much to be worried about.
Every day they were told how much the rest of their life would depend on these exams, on getting good grades, on pushing themself to the extreme. If they failed these exams, they wouldn't be able to do what they wanted in life, and they would be constantly struggling as an adult.
Every day they were stressed, panicking, having anxiety and panic attacks constantly, studying while they could, and fretting when they couldn't. They felt like they weren't working hard enough, or doing their best, because some days their focus refused to stay in one place.
Their grades got worse as they studied harder. They could see the teachers eyes look on unsurely as their student got more and more anxious and their grades started to drop. They told them that they would be fine in the real exams, they just needed to work harder and always do their best.
They never learnt that their best on some days is just getting out of bed and reading through their text book, while other days it's writing an essay. That having a bad mark is not the same as being a failure, because that shouldn't be what determines the rest of their life. That mark doesn't know how hard it was to get out of bed and just open the book, that actually writing one sentence in the exam was the best for that day.
So many students feel like this in the current education system. The system that puts too much pressure on young children to memorise stupid amounts of facts and quotes and equations and words when really we just need to see how much they can do at things they want to excel at.
What��s the point of learning giant chunks of a book, when you could just give them a copy in the exam? What's the point of learning an equation off by heart, when they could be enjoying learning how that equation applies to real life?
So much of the system doesn't make sense in the world these children live in today, and adult life scares them just as much as their childhood education does. Let children and adults relax and have fun and enjoy life, not force them into jobs they don't want, make them pay unnecessarily large amounts of money for education, and take away all the adventures that life has to offer if they are only given the opportunity to pave their own way.

P/S: I will be rewriting this novel because so far what you have been reading was just impulsive writing from me. I have no proper planning for the plot and even I dont know the ending of the story. But I will say this, our character will have a lot of character/self development phases. Some part of her story comes from my own cringy, embarassing and pathetic life expereriences. To make your reading more enjoyable, I will take some time to organize my thoughts and atleast plot the story neatly.

Usually in any reincarnation novel, you either the villainess or you are the heroine OR someone in between like maid, best friend, cousin etc. and somehow overtime you get to interact with ML's as the story progresses.

In Mira's case, she is none of the above! In fact her memory came to announce of her past self as she has already reached the mid of the characters story. Well not that her past memory could contribute anything as she died at the age of 12 being constantly stuck in the hospital due to rare case of disease. Zia returned to her room after breakfast. Tina and Rubi are her childhood friends but they have a selfish soul. The woman stood behind the cottage, knee deep in snow, tears dripping down her face. She gripped her child against her chest, hoping to God her brother could pull off this stunt.
Jane had always been tough as nails. She had survived slavery, escape, starvation, sickness, and even a rabid dog,  but never had she stood behind a shed with a child in her arms, crying into her chest, moments from death.
She bit her lip and fixed her posture before pulling a travel quill from her pocket; she brought a long burlap necklace with a tiny midnight-black corked jar attached to it off of her neck.  Placing the writing materials into the snow, she laid the toddler next to them, only a thin washrag between his fragile glazed molasses skin and the ruthless cold of the ice.
Frantically searching her pockets, Jane's kinky and coarse black bun atop her head seemed to collect more and more snow as the sky released its tiny bullets of cold; her son made happy reaches thrusting his pudgy hands into the air in attempts to capture one.
Finally, she managed to pull a coffee stained, vaguely square piece of parchment from one of her skirt's many pockets. They were all packed with various trinkets, crystals, and other witchy utensils.
With slow, shaky fingers, Jane went to work scrawling a message onto the paper for her brother. She had known all along that the couple would take too long in the house. Finlay had always been quite the character. Stealing her best friends attention when they were children, infecting everyone with his contagious sense of pessimism: it drove Jane crazy. She had wanted nothing more than to see Lilith at least one more time; she had wanted nothing more than to see Joseph, the child that Lilith had promised would be her godson when they were merely seven.
She huffed slightly as she thought, her anger seemingly seeping into her writing as the letters grew more and more jagged. Her strokes grew so aggressive the ink pooled off into the snow, spreading like a tiny a black lake into the ice.

I suspect Abe will have impressive healing abilities and likely end up being an empath so please make sure to tell Athol she must encourage him in this; his magic potential cannot go to waste.
Please tell Lilith I miss her, my heart yearns for my childhood friend. I did everything I could to see her without putting others in danger but it was in vain.  Tell her there is no one I would rather have my son grow up on the same property as and one day we will see eachother again.

Jane set the pen into the snow softly after writing, coiling the necklace gently into her son's hand before cupping his small head in her palm.
He looked up at her, with a puzzled expression.   His cinnamon brown eyes gleaming back at her.
She opened her mouth to speak, but a thick wall of saliva and heartache barricaded her words.
"Mama?"
"S-sh-s-shhh." her voice was muffled by the wind, but Abe could hear the pain in her words clearly.  His mother pushed him back into a sitting position by his shoulders and wrapped the rag over his torso like a shawl.   Grasping his small hand in both of her palms, she looked at him with the most intensity the young boy had yet experienced in his single year of life. Her pale gray eyes pierced his as she broke her spit and sorrow barrier. 
"You keep it safe, ya hear me? There ain't many things we're capable of protecting."
Abe looked back at her, his eyes wide as saucers and his stained cotton shirt now damp with his mother's tears.
Jane's lips quivered as she contemplated whether to let her feelings out on her son. On one hand this would likely be the last time she would get to be with him, and the last chance she would have to mold her legacy. On the other hand, she didn't want to overwhelm him, but she decided he was too young to experience moral pressures at this age, anyhow.
Suddenly, she gripped his jaw in her hand harshly. He let out a small whimper before she shushed him.
"You don't cry son, ya hear me?  You prove them wrong; outrun the white man, at least the ones who won't run next to you. "  She bit back a wail so harshly she could feel the rusty taste of blood in her mouth.
"Choose your allies carefully, Abrem."
With this, Jane stood up with a new sense of completion. Abe sat with a new sense of confusion.
Towering over her son, she let out a small moan before turning her back to the child.
Abe just then began to understand a surface level of what was going on.
"Mama?" his muffled inquiry echoed through the forest as his mother disappeared behind a pine tree making her way back into hiding. 
The child began to hyperventilate.
"Ma? M-mama-a?" 
But there was nothing, nothing but the muffled sound of teacups clanking against ladles and strangers talking amongst themselves in hushed voices on the other side of the wooden wall behind him.

"Now get dressed, Kurt asked if you could heat the forge." Mom said and left. 


I got dressed, heated the forge with magic and ate breakfast. 


"Clair do you know where the school is?" Dad asked. 
"Yup, it´s the building where I met you both isn´t it? "Me 
"Yes" Dad 
" Before I forget, Kyle will teach me some swordplay, so I won´t come home after school, okay?" Me 
"Ok, but be careful "Mom 


I stood up and said goodbye while I went outside to school. 


Let´s see if the children here have ever seen an elf, dad said they are rare. 


I reached the school building and took, like the other kids who are strolling in, my shoes off. 
And while I walked to Georg, who was standing at the front, I heard some children whispering. 


"Hey, hey who´s that girl?" Kid 1 (boy) 
" I don´t know, but she is cute" Kid 2 (girl) 
"But what is with her ears? "Kid 1 
" Right, they look funny. "Kid 2 


Georg noticed me as I reached him. 


"Hi Clair, do you also want to learn?" Georg 
"Yup, can I ?" Me 
"Sure, sure, the children here never saw an elf before, so don´t be upset if they are wary of you. We will first do some math and then I´ll explain a little about the world. Sit where you want." Georg said and motioned me to sat down. 


I looked around and found a nearly empty bench, where I sat down. 




"Ahem, " George drew attention and waited until the children were quiet. 
" As you may see, we have a new child with us, her name is Clair and no, there is nothing wrong with her ears. She is an elf, but I will tell later something about elf's. She is now the adoptive child of the Schmiedehands and will live here with us." George 


Some children raised their hands. 


"Yes, Milli?" George 
"How old is Clair?" Milli 
"You can ask her later. Now we want to continue the last math question." George answered her and gets a lot of groans as an answer. 


"Don´t be so, math will help you in the future, how will you know that a merchant doesn't scam you if you can´t calculate? So who can say how much 4+9 is? " George 


Really? Basic things? If it is only that then I am saved. 


We continued these questions until Georg had enough. 


"Ok, now to the next thing. I will draw a map of our world Solantis. " George said and begun to draw a map on the blackboard.

" Our Kingdom is one of four human lands. There are two kingdoms Kirk and Tragon, one republic called Solo and an empire called Raska. 
There are currently four known continents on Solantis, the Human continent Silga, The Beastkin continent Tongva, the elf, fairy and dwarf continent Procopio and the demon continent Duren. 
But we have to share our continent with the Dragons and their kin's. They are living in the Dragon Forest." Georg 


The dragons are now gone, but I can´t say it here and now ^^ 


"We humans are not as strong as the beastkins or as profound in magic as the demon, fairys and elfs. We also are not as good as the dwarfs when it comes to crafting, but we are the most balanced race. While the dwarfs and beastkin are not as good as we in magic. The fairys and elfs are also not as good as we in crafting. This balanced nature allows us to defend our continent against the demons or other aggressors. 
So that´s it for today. We will see each other next week. " Georg finished his explanation and the lesson. 


I stood up and wanted to go, but I was stopped by two children. 


"Hi" Girl 
"Hello" Boy 
"Hi " Me 
"My name is Loise and this is Paul " The girl said, and pointed at the boy. 
"I´m Clair."Me 
"We know, why are you here? Where are your parents?" The boy asked. 
"My parents and I were attacked by bandits and I was able to flee, now Maia and Kurt have adopted me because they think my original parents are dead. "I said with a little sad tone. 
""Sorry"" Both 


"Do you want to become friend with us?" Loise 
"Sure, but I have to go now, Kyle has promised me to train with me." Me 
"Cool!" Paul 
"So bye," I said while I walked past them. 
""Bye"" Both 


I put my shoes on and walked out, where Kyle already stood. 


"Hi Clair, how was school?"Kyle 
"Interesting, how was your date?" I replied. 


Kyle got red and said. 


"It... it was good, thank you for the ring and your help, I think I may become her boyfriend..." 
"Oh, that´s good, if you have problems ask, I may be able to help you. " Me 
" I can´t ask a little girl for help in things like this " He stuttered. 


Ooohh right, I look like a little girl ^^. But it is not like I really could be a big help, I never was interested in dates and things like that. 


"Can we begin with our training? " Me 
" Hm? Oh sure, follow me, do you have a sword? " Kyle 
"Yup, but that is at home. "Me 
" Then we fetch it and begin after that. "Kyle said and we walked to my home, where I took my sword. 
"Oh, this sword looks good did Kurt made this?" Kyle asked. 
"Jep" I lied. 


We went to a field outside the village and Kyle drew his sword. 


"Look closely," Kyle said and begun to move. 


He had both hands on the hilt and moved his arms slowly over his head, where he stopped. 
Then he slashed the sword in one move down. The sword was as high as his waist when he abruptly stopped. Now he twisted it fast to the left and slashed in a left arc upwards. Where he once again stopped. He slashed his sword down but stopped when he was on his chest level. Now he pierced with his sword forward and stopped again. But this time he slowly moved his sword in his scabbard. 
I clapped because it looked like it was exhausting for him. 


Don´t know why but I think there where some useless movements mixed in and I think I could do it way faster. 


"How was that? good wasn´t it?" Kyle asked proudly. 
"Yep, can I try?" Me 
"Sure but be careful "Kyle 


I copied his movements but I did it faster and I also had more grace in it. 
As I finished I looked to Kyle and he stood there with his jaw dropped. 


"You were better than me... how? Isn´t that your first time holding a sword?" Kyle asked stunned 
"It is but I am a genius," I said while puffing my chest out. 


He only gave me a defeated wry smile. 


"If you are that fast in learning, I can´t teach you much, sorry," He said while his head hung down. 
"It´s not a problem, I teach myself." Me 
"Then practice until it feels natural. "Kyle said and sat down. 


I did the same movements for a few hours and Kyle said. 


"Ok, that´s enough, it´s getting dark come I bring you home. " 
"Okay, that was fun, " I said while beaming a smile into his face. 


Kyle got red and stuttered something like. 


"N.. no.. no problem " 


We reached my home and I said goodbye to him. 


"Hi Clair, how was school " Mom greeted me as I walked in the kitchen. She cooked something. 
"Interesting" Me 
" That´s good, sit down dinner will be ready in a few moments."Mom

We continued these questions until Georg had enough.

"Ok, now to the next thing. I will draw a map of our world Solantis. " George said and begun to draw a map on the blackboard.


"We are here," Georg said and pointed at the middle of the west border fro, the Dragon Forest.
"And if you are good enough you may be able to attend one of the four Magic Academy's of Kirk."

He draws some points in Kirk.

" Our Kingdom is one of four human lands. There are two kingdoms Kirk and Tragon, one republic called Solo and an empire called Raska.
There are currently four known continents on Solantis, the Human continent Silga, The Beastkin continent Tongva, the elf, fairy and dwarf continent Procopio and the demon continent Duren.
But we have to share our continent with the Dragons and their kin's. They are living in the Dragon Forest." Georg

"We humans are not as strong as the beastkins or as profound in magic as the demon, fairys and elfs. We also are not as good as the dwarfs when it comes to crafting, but we are the most balanced race. While the dwarfs and beastkin are not as good as we in magic. The fairys and elfs are also not as good as we in crafting. This balanced nature allows us to defend our continent against the demons or other aggressors.
So that´s it for today. We will see each other next week. " Georg finished his explanation and the lesson.

I stood up and wanted to go, but I was stopped by two children.

"My name is Loise and this is Paul " The girl said, and pointed at the boy.
"I´m Clair."Me
"We know, why are you here? Where are your parents?" The boy asked.
"My parents and I were attacked by bandits and I was able to flee, now Maia and Kurt have adopted me because they think my original parents are dead. "I said with a little sad tone.

"Do you want to become friend with us?" Loise
"Sure, but I have to go now, Kyle has promised me to train with me." Me
"Cool!" Paul
"So bye," I said while I walked past them.
""Bye"" Both

I put my shoes on and walked out, where Kyle already stood.

"Hi Clair, how was school?"Kyle
"Interesting, how was your date?" I replied.

Kyle got red and said.

"It... it was good, thank you for the ring and your help, I think I may become her boyfriend..."
"Oh, that´s good, if you have problems ask, I may be able to help you. " Me
" I can´t ask a little girl for help in things like this " He stuttered.

Ooohh right, I look like a little girl ^^. But it is not like I really could be a big help, I never was interested in dates and things like that.

"Can we begin with our training? " Me
" Hm? Oh sure, follow me, do you have a sword? " Kyle
"Yup, but that is at home. "Me
" Then we fetch it and begin after that. "Kyle said and we walked to my home, where I took my sword.
"Oh, this sword looks good did Kurt made this?" Kyle asked.
"Jep" I lied.

We went to a field outside the village and Kyle drew his sword.

"Look closely," Kyle said and begun to move.

He had both hands on the hilt and moved his arms slowly over his head, where he stopped.
Then he slashed the sword in one move down. The sword was as high as his waist when he abruptly stopped. Now he twisted it fast to the left and slashed in a left arc upwards. Where he once again stopped. He slashed his sword down but stopped when he was on his chest level. Now he pierced with his sword forward and stopped again. But this time he slowly moved his sword in his scabbard.
I clapped because it looked like it was exhausting for him.

Don´t know why but I think there where some useless movements mixed in and I think I could do it way faster.

"How was that? good wasn´t it?" Kyle asked proudly.
"Yep, can I try?" Me
"Sure but be careful "Kyle

I copied his movements but I did it faster and I also had more grace in it.
As I finished I looked to Kyle and he stood there with his jaw dropped.

"You were better than me... how? Isn´t that your first time holding a sword?" Kyle asked stunned
"It is but I am a genius," I said while puffing my chest out.

He only gave me a defeated wry smile.

"If you are that fast in learning, I can´t teach you much, sorry," He said while his head hung down.
"It´s not a problem, I teach myself." Me
"Then practice until it feels natural. "Kyle said and sat down.

I did the same movements for a few hours and Kyle said.

"Ok, that´s enough, it´s getting dark come I bring you home. "
"Okay, that was fun, " I said while beaming a smile into his face.

Kyle got red and stuttered something like.

"N.. no.. no problem "

We reached my home and I said goodbye to him.

"Hi Clair, how was school " Mom greeted me as I walked in the kitchen. She cooked something.
"Interesting" Me
" That´s good, sit down dinner will be ready in a few moments."Mom

I was a normal pupil and lived my daily live with school and light novels as well as a couple of games. I often had the dream of forsaking my world and living in a new world with magic and monster. And after a normal day it happened.... Well yeah, hi this is my first story and I´m extremely inexperienced, so please help me with suggestions in the comment section. The MC is going to be OP and will have a few screws loose. He is not good, but will do good deeds, if he sees them necessary. The story will have sexual contents in booth ways (normal and lesbian) and there will be violence(torture, gore, slave abuse and so on). The inspiration for this story lies in many, many other stories. For example Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku, Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari, Mondaiji-tachi ga isekai kara kuru soudesu yo and many others.

Yep, all the paperworks finally official. No one can take her from us; shes our daughter. The name change has been submitted and everything.
Her poor mother. I thought all of the women Yema and the Don had captured were clean.

Mariannas birth mother was one of the captives Beau helped rescue out of the Russian facility. No one knew she was pregnant; it had happened the day before Beau and his cousins showing up to save them all. When they brought her to America, they found out that not only was she carrying a baby but that she was HIV positive and had been exposed to the disease for a long time.
Apparently, shed tried to warn the men who stole her, but they didnt believe her. They thought it was just a made-up excuse. She was trying to stop the spread of the disease and ended up pregnant. Her sick body could barely handle the pregnancy.
The doctor begged her to terminate, but she swore it was the one positive thing to happen in her life as an adult and wouldnt give in. Her choice led us to helping to care for the baby once Marianna was born, and we fell completely in love with the perfect little bundle.
Wed put in to adopt her, but it took a long time since I didnt have any real documents that were easily attainable. Once they figured out who I was thanks to some expensive DNA testing and searching, we were able to file for a Visa and the full adoption of Marianna.
I thought with Beau my life was complete and then I laid my eyes on her and realized I didnt only have my oneI had two.

      It doesnt matter that were exhausted, King insists we take the motorbikes out at midnight to tour the island and double-check our defenses. Hes doing it to calm my nerves because Im climbing the walls. 
      Civilians are hunkered down at the citadel or in the surrounding buildings, filling every imaginable space. Its crowded but the evacuation itself went like clockwork which means our drills and prep work paid off. Seeing the faces of the women and children as I passed through the endless halls was hard. I remember the fear and uncertainty of life with the Federation after my father died. 
      We steer toward where the Federations waterlogged hellhounds begin their creepy dance taking the curves at breakneck speed.
      We pass Shadow Warriors guarding the road at strategic locations, armed with weapons and radios to alert the towers if we read the Federation signals wrong and they attack from this direction. We are fairly sure their soldiers will come straight at the citadel, but weve planned for every contingency we can think of.
      We reach the southernmost location and turn the bikes around, heading back the way we came and stop where Cabel and his team are doing their gruesome job.
      Cabels unit has at least a hundred watercrafteverything from smaller military boats to fishing boats. We cant see into the distance but King radios and Cabel drives his boat to shore.
      Do you need additional men? I ask him.
      Well have this location cleared in an hour and move on. We send a diver down, attach a hook to their chain, and drag them with the boats. If we dont move them, we kill them. The Federation has been planting hellhounds for months and were only touching the surface, but at least well make a dent.
      The Federation will suffer for what theyve done. We leave Cabel to continue his job and head back to the citadel. King pulls off the road at one of our favorite spots. He clasps my hand and leads me to the cliffs edge that overlooks the ocean. The waves splash in the distance, and the sounds of the night roll through me, filling me with peace. Its a lie. The Federation approaches. They want us dead. They want the human men and women of this island under their thumb. They will annihilate us for simply being different.
      Waiting is the hard part, King says into the quiet. He circles an arm around me, pulling me closer. I rest my head against his strong shoulder, inhaling his scent. Ms. Beast rumbles softly in pleasure and Kings Beast answers. I can sometimes see his in human form, its almost like an aura. Our beasts no longer fight, their energy flows steadily between each other. It seems boring. Im more alive when King challenges me.
      What if only one of us survives? I ask quietly. Its the one thing my heart cant take, but we need to discuss it.
      King smooths his strong hand across my back. The survivor will continue the fight, he says gruffly.
      I glance up and hold his gaze. I cant lose you.
      His mouth forms a wicked smile, and the scar across his cheek stands out, making him even more imperfectly wonderful. You couldnt get rid of me if you tried.
      I wont try, then. Going to the tips of my Doc Martens boots, I kiss him. His savage taste fills something inside me, bringing out Ms. Beasts wild side. She actually purrs. The shadowed presence of Nova waits.
      We come up for air and I ask my next question. Do you think about what will happen when theres no one left to fight?
      His head tilts down so hes looking at me. I think there will always be war; its the blight of mankind.
      Is that what you want?
      He tugs one of my braids. Youre thinking about your grandmothers journal. Whats this about?
      His eyes hold mine, and he has no idea how much I love him. He cant. The white picket fence, a dog by the hearth, a baby crawling on the floor?
      His voice lowers an octave. Is this what you want, Marinah?
      Im not sure.
      He kisses my nose. I think you would be bored within a week. Maybe we can find a big furry devil dog to entertain your devil cat. His thumb rubs across my cheek. When it comes to children, its expected of us. Our children will be alpha Warriors.
      I wiggle a bit so he loosens his arms, but I dont pull away. What if they want to be ordinary?
      He throws his head back in laughter. There will be nothing ordinary about our children, he says when he can speak. Our girls will be headstrong, beautiful bullies who tease their male counterparts and put frogs in their beds. The boys will be as handsome as their father, and they wont know what hit them when the girls are around. Much like your men, theyll constantly be searching for places to hide.
      Our men, I correct him. Just how many children do you think youre having? I ask uncertainly.
      A citadel full, at least.
      My fist lands between us, striking him in the stomach. He lets out a soft huff, but I know it didnt hurt. You forget its my body that must bear those children.
      I picture you plump and grumpy as you waddle through the citadel looking for a wall to put your boot through.
      What about Homestead One? I thought we would raise our family there.
      How? It wont hold all our children, and I like the walls of Homestead One without bootprints.
      I snuggle in close again. I love you.
      He tips my head up. Nothing will happen to either of us. Were a team. I love you, my queen. We have a war to fight. Are you ready?
      As Ill ever be.
      Our noses touch. Youve done a great job preparing the island. We will defeat the Federation and afterward, well go after Barnes. His days are numbered.
      Mate, Ms. Beast whispers inside me.
      We take the winding ocean highway back to the citadel, racing against the coming storm of battle. I know Ive missed something. No way will this go down without a hiccup or two. I want our people safe. Theres a loud rumble inside me and Ms. Beast whispers, kill. At least were on the same page. Ill kill every Federation soldier I see if it saves my people.
      King and I head in separate directions once we return to the citadel. My destination is the Armory to check on the dynamic duo. I almost knock Cosway over when I round a corner and grip her shoulders to steady her. Shes holding her cat and her eyes are wild.
      Babies in danger, must help babies, she whispers. Cosway thinks anything young, from people to animals, are babies and must be nurtured. She gives candy to the island children, and Ive even seen her doctor a scraped knee or two. I asked her if she wanted to help Axel in the infirmary, but she doesnt like closed in spaces and prefers to walk around the island, helping where she can. We keep track of Cosway, for the most part, as she wanders around with her cat slung over her shoulder. Shell return to the citadel with different items given to her by the people of the island. Shes accepted here and taken care of. I dont like seeing her upset.
      Cosway, I say so she looks at me. Take five minutes and meditate with me.
      She nods her head and sits down where shes at and places her back to the wall. I step beside her and sit down. Breathe, she says in her soft lilting voice. I follow her lead and breathe. Bad out, good in. We slowly inhale and exhale.
      I go to my happy place while Cosways voice continues in a blur. I take my rifle apart and reassemble it. I look down the sight and line it up to the eyes of an imaginary Federation soldier. Sure and steady, I pull the trigger and blow his head off. He had President Barnes face. I line up another shot.
      Cosway breaks into my meditation. I will keep the babies safe. Shes looking at me while stroking a hand through the cats hair.
      Thank you, Cosway. The babies need you. She squeezes my hand, jumps up, and runs down the hall in the opposite direction.
      I feel better after our short meditation. Now, I can face anything.
      I enter the armory with that thought firmly in place. Ruth and Che sit on the floor with weapons spread around them. They both have sheets of paper and are writing furiously. Their heads pop up when they hear my boots. I walk closer and look over Ruths shoulder.
      She glances up with a look of determination on her face. We didnt know the names of most of the artillery so were drawing scaled to size images. This will cut the confusion. After were finished, well complete the inventory and have it to you in a few hours.
      My jaws have trouble staying together. She even has military vernacular down. Who really made this child? I try to be delicate in my response. These two have worked their butts off since I gave them this job. Do your moms know youre here?
      Ruth shrugs, her thin shoulders no match for the size of fight in her brain. We couldnt sleep so we snuck out. This needs to be done before the fighting begins. We found a few guns that could be faulty, and we placed them to the side. If someone will show me how to fix them, Ill take over the task.
      Me too, Che volunteers when he looks up from his drawing of a horsemans pick, a medieval Warhammer that somehow found its way into our stockpile.
      I place my hand on my side where my sixteenth century German Mortuary Sword is housed in its scabbard. Its special because it cleaves a hellhounds head off with little effort and its a gift from King. At least tell me you ate all your dinner. Arguing with them for not sleeping will do me no good, and I must pick these battles carefully.
      Every bite, says Che.
      Ruths lips turn to a frown. My mother made meatloaf. I ate it, but it wasnt very good.
      Hmm, my stomach growls. I havent had meatloaf in years. Ill have two cots brought in here. If you get tired, rest. Ill need you both alert when the Federation attacks.
      With their agreement secured, I head to my room and find King lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling like I did earlier. I walk to the end of the bed, turn, and fall backwards so were side to side. Air huffs from my chest when I land and bounce a few times.
      Quite the entrance, he says without looking at me.
      Im exhausted, I sigh.
      Lie here for two minutes and youll be wide awake, I promise.
      Thats the plan, I say and roll to my side so Im looking at him. Is it always like this before battle?
      Always.
      I think its easier to march for days, find what youre hunting, and kill it. Also easier on my taxed brain.
      Still looking at the ceiling, I hear the grin in his voice. Much simpler.
      I snuggle into his chest and close my eyes. His arm pulls me in tighter, and I take a deep breath to clear my mind. Im going to meditate for a while. Dont start the war without me.
      I promise, he breathes into my hair.
      I clear my mind and think about killing. Ms. Beast likes to meditate with me, I think.
