After an indeterminate length of time, he finally regained consciousness.
‘It’s still a little painful, but I’m getting used to it.’ He rubbed his aching temple as he leaned up from his reclining position and rose from his bed.
Seiji then walked to his desk and took out the thick notebook he used for writing his diary. He seated himself on the chair before he began writing.
The moment his pen touched the paper, a wondrous sensation poured out from within him.
He was able to visualize a scenario in his mind.
A crimson full moon hung overhead while a young man in extravagant white clothing rested on the edge of a skyscraper’s roof. He clutched a broken sword in as he gazed thoughtfully at the night sky…
Seiji’s right hand started writing at a furious pace; it almost seemed as if he wasn’t the one controlling it.
Every stroke was swift and precise—his writing speed was top-notch, and each word flowed smoothly out of him onto the page!
Seiji continued working his imagination. A girl in a red gothic dress appeared on the roof of the skyscraper directly opposite the boy and slowly unsheathed a pair of twisted longswords—seemingly carved out of bone—from her dress…
Words unceasingly appeared on the page as Seiji wrote in his preferred style, breathing life into the concept in his mind.
Writing swiftly… Finished!
Seiji flicked the pen exaggeratedly as he finished writing the final word.
‘That was… wonderful!’
He inwardly praised his newfound ability as he reread his own words.
Amazing…
The words he had written in his notebook perfectly described the image in his mind in just the right style he desired—mysterious yet romantic in addition to containing a hot-blooded yet cruel fight scene.
This [writing] ability that he’d activated was too powerful!
If a normal person had tried to write this scene, it would probably turn out to be at only the embarrassing level of a middle schooler’s fantasy.
But after Seiji gained the [writing] ability from his system, this scene would make a reader feel passionate as if their blood was boiling; it was like the words on the paper could come to life, assisting the reader in visualizing such a moving, interesting story!
Thanks to his otaku experience from his past life, Seiji was certain that his current writing level already reached that of a story like "5 Centimeters per Second" from his previous life. Even a normal slice-of-life story would give readers the feeling of that type of moving story!

But ever since he activated the [fighting] card, he’d obtained martial arts capabilities which seemed to be at the peak of what a human body could achieve, so it only seemed natural that activating the [writing] card would give him such amazing writing skills… right?

In summation, his current writing level was more than adequate to write something like a light novel.
The only obstacle that remained was the limits of Seiji’s own imagination.
Since [writing] only improved his writing ability and not his imagination… To clarify, it only helped him write down whatever was in his mind, but it didn’t have the power to create the entire story and its characters for him.
He would need to come up with his own story, world-building, character settings, background, and so on. Only after organizing his thoughts was he able to write them down and create a final product.

Although his newly acquired writing skills were undisputedly amazing, there was still something strange about it—he had to put pen to paper in order to utilize his newfound skill.

In this day and age, leaving aside other types of stories, light novels would always be typed on a computer, and publishers also used digital editions.
Of course, the most popular method right now was to post your story on the internet, hoping to get published after gaining popularity and being chosen by a publisher.
Even though using a pen to write seemed romantic as well as unique, Seiji would prefer to directly type out his story as it seemed like a waste of time to write a story on paper then type it out again.

"His work has once managed to win the prize for most innovative experiments and his work is often praised by the professors teaching this young lad."
If this kid is publicly appraised for his work then his father must have some connections as a businessman.
"Only 20 this year and already dubbed the small genius of Georgia! He has now presented himself in this new tournament, how lucky we are!"
Marguerite rolls her eyes, which doesn't escape Mathys who laughs at the unexpected behaviour.
He brings out a flask, and inside the flask is a few litters of milk. Marguerite tilts her head slightly at the odd sight and asks herself what could possibly be made with milk. Her interest is greatly spiked.
He takes another flask which contains a clear liquid. The host asks him what is contained inside and he answers that it's a secret. Marguerite has an inkling that it could either be water or vinegar, but she doesn't see the use for water in this case.
He heats up the milk and does a series of tasks, and with each task, Marguerite's eyes widen even more. She becomes excited as the crowd becomes more and more bored.
In the end, he pulls out a weird blob with an odd colour from the solution of milk and vinegar. Marguerite can hardly believe it, this guy just made casein plastic!
The others look at his blob with odd looks at first, but what he does next finally brings out a good reaction from the crowd.
He starts to mould the plastic into very fine sculptures: animals, flowers, birds, you name it.
As the crowd admires his artistic skills, Marguerite is more amazed at his ability to figure out the chemical formula to make casein plastic without a guide. She feels her heartbeat become stronger and stronger as his fingers glide across the milky figures.
This man, he is the one!
The tournament continues for a while after that, and Marguerite fell in love with 3 other people: a woman making a water filter, a man boiling water without heat by reducing the pressure, and a child making a homemade bomb. The homemade bomb made her especially worried and surprised, but she felt that these concerned were not worth overlooking such talent.

Writing means to mean everything. Writing is how I express myself and how I can tell people about my life without hurting anyone else. I began writing in middle school when I was struggling a lot and then in high school. I am not myself without my writing. Now that I am a mother and a wife writing and crocheting is my outlet to the world around me and what is happening. I'm not a person who can speak their mind unless it's on paper and I am nowhere to be seen. I absolutely hate conflicts so hiding behind a book, crocheting, and my writing is the only way I can keep myself inline and not scared. That is what writing means to me. What does writing mean to you? If you have a hard situation that you are going through or went through then writing about; even if that means turning it fiction by changing the names of the people and adding to it, helps you get through life. Absolutely don't hold yourself back from expressing yourself.

What's this got to do with writing?
Well, many of us have perfected the art of writing "vanilla ice cream."
Vanilla writing is both technically sound and inoffensive.
Vanilla writing "does the job" in the absence of anything better.
And the truth is, perfecting the art of writing "vanilla" is necessary if you want to earn a living as a writer.
The economic and time constraints imposed on us by our clients, plus our need to invoice quickly (so we can put food on the table), dictates that we need to be able to consistently churn out writing that is technically sound and "does the job."
Vanilla writing pays the bills.
But sometimes, we want to produce writing that really moves people and inspires them to take action.
Sometimes we want our writing to provoke such strong feelings in people, they feel compelled to tell their friends, "Hey! Read this!"
Sometimes, we want to produce the writing equivalent of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
The good news is, there's a way to turn vanilla into chocolate chip cookie dough. You just need time, and a few extra ingredients.
The power of editing
Most people see editing as the process of turning a messy first draft into something that's publishable. And yes, editing does do that.
But to me, "publishable" is the equivalent of "vanilla."
To me, the real power of editing activates when we take writing that is vanilla (does the job) and turn it into chocolate chip cookie dough (something people rave about and want to share with their friends).
Yes, the editing process for the latter involves a few more steps than you're used to, but I promise, it'll be worth it.
Before you can turn a piece of vanilla writing into chocolate chip cookie dough, however, you need to be sure it really is at the vanilla (i.e., technically sound) stage.
You also need to meet these three requirements:
You know exactly who the ideal reader is,
You know what promise you're making to them, and
Your piece contains all the key information required to deliver on the promise.
If you have all of this in hand, it's time to edit!
Step #1: High-level pass
This is the stage where knowing exactly who you're writing for, and what you're trying to say is crucial.
Because the first thing you need to do is go through your draft and delete anything that is not relevant to the promise you're making.
When I first started putting this post together, many of the things I talked about were general writing tips. They were great tips, but completely irrelevant to the promise I was making — which was how to edit, not how to write.
The second thing you need to do is check your examples.
If the ideal reader for your piece is a doctor, but all your examples are about builders, you need to change your examples. (If you don't, your piece won't resonate.)
Finally, you need to check your sub-headings.
If you promise "5 secrets to great writing" in your title and all your sub-headings are actually "5 mistakes people make when they're writing," then you need to either change your title or your sub-headings.
Step #2 : Structure
A neat and tidy structure for any piece of writing is a three-part structure: beginning, middle, end. Or, my personal favorite: hook, build, payoff.
Let's start with your hook
First, check you have one. The hook appears very early in a piece, and must capture your reader's attention.
(Which is why you must know who the reader is.)
For example, I hooked you at the start of this article by connecting editing — something many writers don't like doing — with ice cream, which pretty much everyone likes eating.
If your piece is missing a hook, and you're not sure how to give it one, I break down five common hooks here.
It's also worth noting that writers often bury their hooks two paragraphs into their content.
I can't tell you how many "first two paragraphs" I've deleted in my time. All that backstory you're giving, the reader doesn't care.
Start with the bit that captures their attention, and then carry on from there. (If you really need backstory for context, you can introduce it later.)
The next structural element we need to look at is our build
This is where you introduce your idea to the reader and show them "what is."
Then you tell them why they should care by showing them "what could be."
In the introduction of this post, I showed you "what is" — vanilla ice cream. It's "does the job" writing.
The problem is, no one's Instagramming vanilla ice cream or telling their friends about it.
Then I showed you "what could be" — chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
Basically, I sold you the dream! Now I need to deliver on that dream.

The final structural element: the payoff
Many writers think their final line is the payoff, but that's rarely the case.
More commonly, it's the six points, or the 10 tips, or the 15 secrets. Essentially, it's where you deliver on the promise you've made in your title.
Everything I'm walking you through right now, this is all payoff. I'm giving you practical actions that turn your vanilla draft into chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
What do you do if your structure isn't quite right?
If the proper information is all there, it might simply need re-ordering.
But more often than not, this is the part of the editing process where you need to do some re-writing and "hole filling."
Step #3: Remove roadblocks
Roadblocks are things that make the reader stop and go … "Huh?"
It's important to remove these because there are so many things our readers can be doing today. Any roadblock we throw up might make them decide it's easier to go check out stupid memes on Facebook.
What are some common roadblocks?
The first is unnecessary repetition.
This is pretty common in books or articles where an author is battling to meet a word count. So they'll say the same thing five different ways.
It also happens when a writer isn't 100 percent clear on what they're trying to say. So they share a single thought in a few different ways, hoping one of those ways will resonate with the reader.
Don't do this.
Make your point once; make it well. Then move on to the next one.
The second common roadblock is a big word that could be smaller.
Mark Twain (apparently) said:
"Don't use a five-dollar word when a fifty-cent word will do."
It doesn't matter how smart your readers are; they will always prefer a small word to a big one.
For example, you wouldn't write "utilize" when you could just write "use."
The third roadblock is jargon.
We all know about jargon because we've all been frustrated by reading it. But often, when we're doing corporate writing, it's not possible to remove it.
You need to use your judgement here. If jargon is putting unnecessary distance between you and the reader, then edit it out. If they're clued up on the topic, a little bit of jargon is okay.
In-jokes are another common roadblock.
These are fun if everyone gets them — but they seldom do. Remember, the people who don't get the in-joke will feel both stupid and distanced from you.
So you'd use them if you're deliberately trying to create a divide between people who get it and those who don't. In all other situations, you'd consider their use carefully.
Awkward syntax is when a sentence is grammatically correct but still sounds weird. In those situations, I always re-phrase the sentence because things that sound weird stop readers in their tracks.
The final most common type of roadblocks are sentences or paragraphs you love because they're awesome and make you sound super-smart.
You know you could cut them out because they're not actively contributing anything, but you leave them there anyway.
These are called darlings. And we all know killing our darlings makes our writing better.
Step #4: Smooth your transitions
This is a very hard one to give practical advice on, but I need to mention it anyway.
If you read through your piece and it doesn't feel like it flows very well, but your structure is sound, then you may need to use linking words like "but," "and," and "however" between your sentences.
Smooth transitions between paragraphs and sections are also necessary to keep the reader moving along. Harsh transitions where there is no obvious link between adjacent paragraphs act as a roadblock.
If you can't smoothly link two paragraphs or section, consider splitting them via sub-headings. Or do what Malcolm Gladwell does and put three dashes between the end of a paragraph and the start of a new one.

However, after the end of her life, a hand appeared before her offering her a second chance at life as well as the shocking truth of the world but for a price, a mission involving the imprisonment of the God of the Underworld. Can she stand up again and complete her mission or will she shirk back into her shadows and lament at her own weakness again? 
   Just when she thought that everything was futile, she discovered that she was being stalked by a shady guy! 
   "I can help you if you want to succeed in your quest, but you must come with me." He said. 
   "Um, how about no."
   "Then, I'll take you away by force, if I have to!"
   "A challenge? Great! I've always wanted to see how much my bombs have progressed!"
