"Maybe you had the same feelings for me. I don't know," Ellen says. She looks down and seemed to be thinking. I take a deep breath and open my book as did Ellen.

The teacher pokes his head in. "Keep working," he says.

I nod without turning to him and Ellen just ignored him. I'm turning down my love. Maybe we met at the wrong time. Too soon.

I lay my head down. I have no idea how long I've been asleep.

Ellen must've fallen asleep too. The teacher had woke us up. He was sweeping the class. Ellen has yawned and I stood. "Two hours." the teacher looks at Ellen and me.

"Mira and Brandon have already left," he added.

How could I sleep this long? Maybe working all day got me exhausted.

I walk out of the class, turning to the left. Ellen rushes and joined me. "Kaden!" She says. I stop for a little, looking at her.

Her arms wiggles as she ran. She stopped beside me and laughed a little, nearly out of breath. "Hey." I simply say. "About the Spider-Man. Mira and I have something to tell you. You'll probably look at us differently, but you'll understand," Ellen says.

"Truth is, I think Spider-Man is still al-" Ellen didn't get to finish.

A loud scream cracked through the halls of the school. It was so dark in here. Ellen and I dart our heads to each other.

We then hear the screaming again. Both of us take off down the dark hall. Both sprinting as fast as we could go. Ellen was so damn fast. But for some reason, I slowly began to surpass her as we raced down the hall.

"PLEASE!!" We hear.

We take off down a few more halls.

We then stop at the main hall. Right next to a flight of stairs to the third floor of this building. Standing there was Jake. He slowly walks closer to the teacher who was on the ground. Blood gushing from his side.

Jake looks up. But this wasn't Jake. No way. His eyes were all black with a red halo ring as the pupil.

Like something from a horror alien movie. Veins popped from his skin.

His body was so tense. My heart sank when he tilts his head. "There they are," Jake says. His voice was so deep. Wavy like he was talking into a fan.

As he raises his hand, he brings it down. But it distorts into a goo like a figure. As if an alien took him as a host. Wait. Symbiotes, Ophelias.

Could he be a host of one?

That's when I nearly scream. Right before Jake crushes the teacher with his alien arm, Ellen reacts faster than I could even imagine. From her sleeve was a web.

The web got attached to the teacher before she pulled as hard as she could. The arm crushed the tile flooring as the teacher came flying towards Ellen and me.

Ellen flopped into the air, letting the teacher go right under her. As he flew towards the back of the hall, Ellen shot web balls before landing back on her feet. Like a human-sized web, he landed on it.

My eyes widened as I began breathing hard. What the hell was Ellen doing!? HOW was she doing this?

Jake's arm went back to normal as he began to lick his lips. But his tongue was longer than I could even imagine.

"Who.. asked... for you to save him?" This wasn't Jake speaking, but the monster inside using his mouth to translate. Ellen got into a fighting stance as Jake begins to walk closer.

I couldn't do anything. I begin to walk backward, scared for my life.

"Kaden... run. I'll handle this." Ellen shot a web on either side of her. Each web on lockers as if she were going to slingshot at Jake.

But Jake was growing. The alien in him began to come out. 

Covering all of his clothes and seemed to be coming from his skin. The nails were so sharp and he was growing so big. The head of this pitch-black monster reached the roof and was cracking the ground with his werewolf-like feet. A crazy sight.

On the monster's back were sharp blades like it was some type of pine.

The monster charged at the both of us. Ellen pulled the web back l before launching forward at it, legs first.

It slapped her out of the way and through the lockers and into a classroom. It left a huge while before it launched its long ass arm at me.

My fingers tingled just as the arm reaches me. My body was kicked to the side.

Four knives cut the teacher down as Mira rolled into sight. I hit the lockers as the monster's missed all three of us. The teacher, Mira, and I. I was still in shock.

"KADEN! MR. GREEN! RUN!" Mira yells. 

The monster darts at Mira at of speed of sound.

He grabbed her by the neck before aggressively smashing her into the ground. I grab Green and began running in the opposite direction.

There was no way Mira would survive what the monster was doing to her. He threw her into the ground, descending her to the first floor. It then caught its focus on Green and me. 

It charges at me. Without trying, I grab Green by the shirt, jumping into the air. Felt as if I were flying.

The monster tried to claw at us as it misses its tackle.

His long blades for nails nearly scratched his calf. I land back on the ground, running in the opposite direction again.

It came back at us. "Get back here!" Like a demon whispering in my ear. Green was crying as the monster was then dropped kicked into another room from Ellen coming just in them. She began swinging down the hall, catching up to Green and me.

Mira joined us and was running alongside us. We could hear the monster, the Ophelia running through the classrooms.

We turned down another. Ellen shot a web. She lifted into the air before shooting three more that attached to Green, Mira,  and I. Before she could lift all three of us to safety, we were chucked by the Ophelia, sending all four of us out of the window.

We all began falling. Mira tried to get ahold of Green, but her hair seemed to get in the way. Cars below got bigger and bigger.

I turn over with my stomach facing the concrete. The wind was so strong.

As we all reach the ground, Ellen swung, for ahold of all three of us. I could tell she couldn't hold all of us for long. Green was a big guy. Maybe 200 pounds.

She swung but only had one web. She tried shooting another, she'd fall, killing all four of us. We fell to the ground.

Mira grabbed Green and me, ducking behind a car.

Jake's monster landed on the ground, giving out a blood-curdling scream. Ellen ran at it. Jumping and running on cars. She began shooting webs at it.

They went at it. The monster versus Ellen. She would dodge its swings, kick it, swing around it, kick, punch. She fought exactly like Spider-Man. I had no words to say.

Five minutes felt like hours. Mira stayed with Green and I. Keeping us from being her if the monster found us.

But all the fighting was done. Ellen landed. She had blood all over her as she stumbled towards the three of us. She fell but I held my arms out, catching her as she passed out.

I had nothing to say, but I was glad she risked her life to save mine. Something Spider-Man himself would do.

I never thought it would actually happen. Me becoming the next Spider-Man. It all happened so quickly. I want my normal life back. Even it means to trust someone who killed Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the past to do so.

Hades glanced at his companion beside him. Lucy and Linda had obviously developed some resistance after the previous encounter with the emperor scorpions, so they were not frightened now.

 To be perfectly honest, that web was the main reason why I didn’t want to deal with the Lesser Tarantal. If it was just those fangs and sharp arms, I could probably deal with it. But it was another story when it came to those webs. For one, those webs were incredibly sturdy. And even though it might be possible for me to cut one using my fangs, doing that would only increase the risk of being caught in it. Because based on what I had seen so far, aside from being sturdy, those webs were also awfully sticky to the point that it was pretty much impossible for me to break free once I got caught. Fortunately, the Banobos that were guarding the ring would destroy some of the webs before it was thoroughly scattered all over the ring. Probably, even those Banobos would have a hard time capturing the Lesser Tarantal once it managed to completely scatter its webs. 

 Seriously, why am I so unlucky? I sighed.

Actually, it was also kind of annoying because the webs were coming after me so I had to dodge every single one. 

 This is completely different from how you fought before!! And if you can do this all along, why are you only using it now against me damn it!! 

 Based on how the Lesser Tarantal had fought before, I had been under the impression that it had the habit of overwhelming its opponents using its raw speed. Essentially, the monster’s fighting style was supposed to be somewhat similar to mine. And honestly, with all that weapons under its disposal, I actually thought that it was better than me when it came to using that tactic. But now, for some reason, the monster had chosen to fight at long range using its webs. Though most likely, this monster had probably decided to employ this tactic against me after seeing my fighting style. 

 Looks like I am not the only one watching the fights… But damn, this thing is quite intelligent. I thought while feeling truly impressed. 

 Of course, the Lesser Tarantal didn’t let me off and kept on firing its webs towards me. But with the assistance of haste, I managed to swiftly avoid all of those attacks. Unfortunately, I was also slowly losing some grounds because the webs were starting to get scattered all over the place. Well, the Banobos would surely interfere if the webs got out of hand, but still, I couldn’t just simply hope for that. That was why I began to change my approach. 

 After deciding my course of action, I stopped running momentarily while acting all exhausted. Taking advantage of that, the Lesser Tarantal shot some webs towards my direction without any hesitation. But when the web hit me, I activated Haste and dodge the web only by an inch while also making sure to catch the web using one of my paws. Then, a split second after the web completely stuck into my leg, I pulled the web with all my might. 

 Because the web was still connected to the Lesser Tarantal, the monster was instantly pulled back towards me. Of course, even then, the Lesser Tarantal wasn’t shaken. In fact, it even pointed its claws in my direction while flying towards me. Unfortunately, it had been long since I noticed the weakness of those pointed legs. 

 Time seemed to slow down as I carefully dodge and parried some of those pointed legs. When I finally found an opening, I immediately bit one of the Lesser Taratal’s defenseless legs on the side effectively avoiding its pointed end. Once I made sure that my grip on the leg was tight enough, I quickly reactivated Haste and ran away before the monster managed to bite me. As a result, one of the Lesser Tarantal’s legs was ripped off from its body and was now sitting on my mouth. 

 Of course, I didn’t get away without any injuries either. Because in the middle of our short exchange, the Lesser Tarantal actually managed to pierce one of its legs in my body. Seriously, the injury wasn’t something to sneeze at because it was actually quite a heavy one and it was continuously bleeding. Well, it was also the same for the injury of the Lesser Tarantal. Though, unfortunately for the monster, my plan worked out perfectly. 

 I smiled. Watch this! 

 At that, I started munching on the Lesser Tarantal’s severed leg. A few moments later, the wound on my body completely stopped bleeding as if the wounds finally closed on their own. 

 How do you like that huh?! I grinned triumphantly. 

 Of course, as you had probably guessed, it was the effect of my skill Devour. Though, to be perfectly honest, this was actually the first time that I used Devour in this way. Yes, I had it in the back of my mind for quite some time now that I could probably use the Devour skill in this way, but still, that was just a simple theory. And even though there was actually quite a large chance that this strategy would work, I still tried my best to avoid resorting into this. After all, it was a really savage strategy that involved letting myself be injured in exchange for eating an opponent’s flesh. Then, there was also this problem that it only managed to stop the bleeding of the wound instead of completely healing it. Besides… 

 Man, this is basically the same fighting style as those crazy Hellhounds. 

 That was right, much as I’d like to deny it. I was basically doing the same thing as those Hellhounds. Well, I actually had no choice in this situation, so I had to resort to this. But even then, the simple thought of being placed in the same category as those monsters really disgusted me. Though probably, those monsters must have been using this tactic because they also had the Devour skill. After all, based on those monster’s behavior, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they received the Predator title. Unfortunately, that possibility only made my apprehension much worse. 

 After swallowing the last bits of the Lesser Tarantal’s legs, I grinned with self-deprecation. For some reason though, the Lesser Tarantal’s expression turned from sheer shock into that of anger. 

 But without caring the least bit about it, I gazed straight into the monster’s eyes. Looks like the table has turned?! I asked with a growl.

In front of me, there was a spider type monster called Lesser Tarantal looking at me cautiously. Apparently, this was the monster I would need to overcome to survive in this match. Though to be honest, this was one of the monsters that I really didn't want to end up fighting. Of course, it wasn't as if I was scared of this monster. Because if push comes to shove, I won't hesitate to fight it like in this situation for one. It was just that…
'I am clearly at a disadvantage…'
After watching my fellow prisoners fight for quite some time, I now had a slight grasp on their fighting styles and capabilities. And based on what I had seen so far, there were two monsters that stood out. One was that Bear type monster called Savaga and the second one was this Lesser Tarantal. Of course, in terms of pure brute strength and power, the Savaga undoubtedly has outmatched the other monsters so far. But what I found the most problematic with this Lesser Tarantal wasn't its strength and power, instead it was the monster's incredible versatility in a fight that I was cautious about.
For one, the Lesser Tarantal also mainly used its speed when fighting just like me. And that speed wasn't something to sneeze at either. Because if my estimation was correct, this thing should be as fast or maybe even faster than that Glydon. On top of that, it also had the same ability as that Winset to completely ignore its momentum which made it incredibly agile. Then, as if having all of that wasn't enough already, the annoying thing also had three weapons at its disposal.
First, there was the clearly obvious one which was its poisonous fangs. Of course, because I had the skill Antibodies, I had little to worry about that poison. Still, I wouldn't want to be bitten by those sharp looking fangs because that would surely inflict some heavy injuries at me. Besides, if the Lesser Tarantal's poison was a fast acting one, the side effect of my skill Antibodies would surely fire back at me.
Secondly, for some reason, all of the Lesser Taratal's legs were also weaponized. And when I said weaponized, I meant literally because all of its eight legs were incredibly sharp. Seriously, those things were so sharp to the point that even just a light step from the Lesser Tarantal was enough to dig a small hole into the ground.
And finally, the most dangerous and vicious weapon at the Lesser Tarantal's disposal; the Lesser Tarantal's web.
To be perfectly honest, that web was the main reason why I didn't want to deal with the Lesser Tarantal. If it was just those fangs and sharp arms, I could probably deal with it. But it was another story when it came to those webs. For one, those webs were incredibly sturdy. And even though it might be possible for me to cut one using my fangs, doing that would only increase the risk of being caught in it. Because based on what I had seen so far, aside from being sturdy, those webs were also awfully sticky to the point that it was pretty much impossible for me to break free once I got caught. Fortunately, the Banobos that were guarding the ring would destroy some of the webs before it was thoroughly scattered all over the ring. Probably, even those Banobos would have a hard time capturing the Lesser Tarantal once it managed to completely scatter its webs.
'Seriously, why am I so unlucky?' I sighed.

26 De-hikki plan

Several days have passed since I defeated the snake.
But I don't know the accurate amount of days passed because I'm in the dungeon. 
In the meantime, I'm living idly.
I can't seem to finish eating the snake and because of the new food gets caught on the web, it's impossible to move from here.
At first, I thought that this a vacation, but this might be bad.
At this rate, I will return back to become a Hikki. (TL note: Hikikomori/shut-in)
I took a glance at the mountain of preys that I killed in these past several days.
Mountain. Yes, it's a mountain.
It's not Yamada. (TL note: In the previous sentence, she used 山だ and now she uses 山田. Basically, a pun)
That reminds me of the Yamada-Kun in the class of my previous life.
No, no, it's just something trivial.
Anyway, the preys are stacking up and becomes a mountain at that place.
It became like this because I killed all the monsters that got caught in the web.
 
When I was in my home, I ate it as soon as I caught it. But I don't want to set my hands on another prey until I finish eating the snake so I decided to keep it for the time being. And so it became like this.
I was able to killed it easily because there was no monsters like the snake.
Among them, there was a level 6 monster and there's a considerably strong monster too but they are now part of the mountain.
Well, it may not be strong even if it's level is high.
My level is 9.
I'm equal with the snake in level.
But, the snake is overwhelmingly stronger than me in battle ability.
On the contrary, I'm confident that I can't win against a lower level monster without using my threads.
In my opinion, I think that the most important thing in measuring one's strength is the type of the species.
Even in the same level, if the opponent is a higher ranked species, there may not be any chance to win.
 
The only time where superiority and inferiority is decided by levels is when the opponent is from the same species.
The one I know is probably the huge spider that should be the strongest. Supposing the huge spider is level 1, there's no way I can win against it.
Against such large build, I would die easily no matter how hard I try even if it's level 1.
It's better to think that the difference in level as a reference.
When thinking so, there's a gap more than the level difference between the snake and me.
Actually, I manage to win because I happen to build my simple home but if I were to encounter it without preparations, there's no way I can win.
It can be said that I'm considerably lucky.
As for the snake now, about three-quarter has disappear into my stomach.
Should I think that I have ate three-quarter of the large build? or should I think that there's still a quarter remaining?

I rather prefer it to be slightly rotten because it might raise my skill level.

I can endure eating it now because I have eaten the poison monsters that taste bad continuously.
