As the final battle started, the Twilight Orb devoured the energies within the Mage and opened, from which stepped out a girl, who was surrounded by the power of Chaos and Order. Her eyes are deep as the ancient lake.

The mysterious atmosphere she created then put all of the heroes into dreamland... The power of Chaos and Order have been struggling against each other since the ancient time, and the struggle had driven the world into desperation. Lunox, the mysterious maiden, is the one who survived the desperation. With her unique talent, she can project her dream into reality and change it.

One day, a sound whispered to her, and told her to balance the two powers with her dreamland ability. But the cost would be hunger than ever. For the world she loves, she accepted this fate, channeled the two powers into dreamland and became one of the Twilight Orb, at the cost of falling into endless sleep. But the sound also told Lunox that one day, she will wake up to proceed her fate: to find other Twilight Orbs that are forgotten by history.

The sun was setting and he was about to die, this much he knew. 
 
The closest outpost was miles away, his gloves were dirty and torn, his clothes were not heavy enough to resist the cold. He had an axe, some mountain tracking shoes and a compass. Nothing else. Nothing to start a fire with, no [fiamifferi[, nothing, besides how a fire could start with such a breeze?
"How I ended up here?" He wondered as he prepared his few pieces of equipment in the best way possible "No, this is not the time to worry about that." he said to himself.
The wind was strong and the temperature frozen, he had to move, he picked up his little compass and set toward the closest outpost. He had imagined an epic struggle between nature and animals, man against forces large than him.

Toward the outpost
Walk and walked
Snow, snow, snow and look, a snowed pine.
 
"What struggle is this?" it was cold, you can't fight back against cold like you can with an animal or person. The only thing that you can do is carry on despite it. Protect yourself as best as you. Wearing the heaviest of clothes, knowing how to prepare a fire, preparing yourself for the most unlikely of encounters, but you can't fight it directly. You have to walk and walk.

Was that life worth living after all? Where he was exactly?!? He had walked for long, maybe too long, was that even the right direction? Are we sure that an outpost exists? His feets hurted, his breath was frozen. He placed a foot after the other, he carried on, carried on to what? To live a life as a slave-worker? He placed a foot badly and fell on the snow, comfortable, cold, snow. 
He tried to get up but couldn't, he couldn't move, he was immobile, exhausted from the long journey.
 
Why continuing to live that life? Where it was supposed to lead? A premature death as a drunkard? What would his boss tell to him after this struggle? Would he belittle him? He resigns there, immobile, enjoying the snow, the breeze, all the little good thing.
 
The twilight was good, he lay there immobile.

The struggle was now over...    
 
"NOOOOO!" a voice inside his mind crying out loud, he wanted to live, he wanted to breathe, even one more day, even one more hour. He found the strength to get up and continue to walk. The cold had entered his bones but the struggle continued.

He saw a bear in the distance, a large and hungry one. He didn't saw him, he saw his meal. The bear came running toward him and he ran away, but the bear quickly caught up. He jumped on an icy platform, he missed the platform a bit and his left foot was immersed in the cold water, he barely managed to reach the ice platform. 
The bear was not so agile as him and tripped unto the water. He ran with all his energy, not knowing if the bear was still after him or not. 
 
He looked back, the bear was not there.
 
He paused and gained some breath, he was exhausted. His legs and feet hurted, he had to stop and rest.
 
While he was resting he heard a sound behind him, not even the time to turn his head and a wolf had jumped at him, instinctively he put his hand to block the wolf bite, a grave mistake. With his other hand, he reached for his axe and hit the wolf head with it. The beast retreated. The axe had not killed it.  He looked at his arm, it was dripping with blood. 
 
He looked around, he had lost all sense of direction, he looked at his compass, he had run in the wrong direction. He was now farther than before. He looked around, the wolf was still there, waiting for him to drop his guard or becoming too tired.
 
Still, he didn't want to die, there is something deep down in him that wanted to live, to live despite everything and anything.
 
He batches up his arm as best as he could, always having an eye for the wolf, grabbed his axe and continue to walk.
 
The twilight now has arrived
The outpost is not in sight
Would I ever see another dawn?
Still on this broken and cold bones
I continue carrying on

It was a dark and long night, The stars and moon that once illuminate the way had darkened. 
Looking over the dark horizon, one had the fleeting sensation of seeing things in the dark: forgotten idols, lost giants, and monsters from the abyss consciousness. So many were those that he thought of having enter their home, the next istant nothing, but darkness, silence and void loomed over him. 
Something was calling him from afar, and it drove him mad. It brought him here, into these forsaken lands. He didn't know what it was that compelled him. A longing? A hope? An illusion? A vision? Despite his misgivings, he advanced further into the darkness, guided only by it that called for him. Would this call ever be heard?

This is a collection of short stories that I have written, they primarily deal with themes of change, renewal and struggle.

They felt as if the thief was pitying them!
This incident immediately alerted the City Lord of Twilight City. Almost all the soldiers in the city had moved out to search for that thief.
However, everyone had subconsciously forgotten about the group of people from Sun Never Sets. In their minds, wealthy people like them who could spend millions of gold coins in a day would never do something degrading as thieving. The losses they suffered yesterday night barely amounted to their daily expenses. There was no need for them to steal, right?
Little did they know…
The city lord that they had assumed to be swimming in money was the culprit of the theft!
When Shen Yanxiao woke up, it was already late in the morning. After she changed her clothes, she went to the dining room to look for food. Coincidentally, the five beasts were also seated there. When they saw her, they immediately waved for her to come over and eat together.
Shen Yanxiao slowly walked over and sat down. The food was made by a chef of a decent restaurant in Twilight City. Others might find it extremely delicious, but for the Phantom members who were accustomed to best delicacies, the food was not that delicious.
"How was your harvest last night?" Qi Xia propped his chin and looked at Shen Yanxiao who still had a sleepy look in her eyes.
Shen Yanxiao took a sip of the porridge and said, "Enough for us to spend in Twilight City."
The five of them immediately understood Shen Yanxiao's achievements last night.
As expected, this little girl was very shameless. She used someone's money to slap the faces of Twilight City. Moreover, she acted as if it was only natural. It was really admirable.

As she wandered around, she heard some interesting gossip.
"What is it?" Shen Yanxiao had yet to fully wake up. She stared at the food in front of her in a daze as she ate mouthful after mouthful.
Nangong Mengmeng said excitedly, "I heard that many families in Twilight City were robbed last night!"
"Oh." Shen Yanxiao continued eating.
The expressions of the five beasts were complicated.
"Err, Teacher, you knew it already?" Seeing Shen Yanxiao's lack of reaction, Nangong Mengmeng was curious.
"No, I haven't anything about a thief." Shen Yanxiao continued to struggle with the millet porridge.
"He's not an ordinary thief. Rumor has it that he's a very powerful thief. In one night, he managed to steal from all the merchants in Twilight City. But there is one weird thing about the whole situation. It is that instead of wiping the storage rooms clean, he left a portion of the wealth for them. The chaotic and violent world suddenly regained its calm.
 Zhao Feng breathed a sigh of relief, a joyful look on his face. Even he had wondered just now if he could neutralize Yu Heng's attack.
 "We're saved?" Ancient God Resplendence broke out of her daze, and she looked with sparkling eyes at Zhao Feng.
 "How did he do it?" Ancient God Cheng Yun muttered in shock.

 The little thieving cat jumped onto Zhao Feng's shoulder and began to dance around as if praising Zhao Feng's might.
 In the distance:
 "To think… that there would be such a miraculous power!" Xin Wuheng was also in a daze, his mind reeling in shock as he stared at the distant Zhao Feng. He once more understood that, even though he had inherited the strength from his past life, he still might be left behind by Zhao Feng.
 "Could this be the ultimate strength of the Illusion Dao?" Twilight Valley muttered.
 The ultimate strength of the Illusion Dao was to make illusion into reality and turn reality into illusion.
 "How could this be? How did that kid manage to do it?" Ancient God Ice Jade was stunned, unable to believe what she had seen. She was keenly aware of how strong Zhao Feng was before. How could he suddenly get so much stronger?
 "Hurry and kill Ancient God Destruction Flow!" Zhao Feng messaged.

 The little thieving cat was the first to strike, shooting toward Ancient God Destruction Flow as a gray-silver streak of light.

 A cold and sinister silver dagger plunged into Ancient God Destruction Flow's chest.
 At the same time, Ancient God Cheng Yun attacked, his palms sending out an endless stream of Time energy blades.
 "Ah…!" Ancient God Destruction Flow immediately began to scream.
 "Chaos Origin God Suppressing Seal!" Zhao Feng circulated a massive amount of Chaos Origin Divine Power into an enormous seal of chaotic silver energy that crushed downward. The mountainous seal was surrounded by a bizarre devouring energy that consumed the various types of energy in the area to strengthen itself.

 The seal of turbid silver energy crashed down. The enormous and heavy power caused Ancient God Destruction Flow's body and soul to fiercely tremble, and he vomited blood again and again.
 Bzzz!
 The twisted Chaos Origin energy began to devour his body and soul, bit by bit.
 "No…!" Ancient God Destruction Flow wanted to struggle, but he was already severely wounded and incapable of fighting back.

 As Yu Heng fell silent, the Light Race members could no longer sit still. If Zhao Feng withdrew, they would be the ones facing disaster.
 "My apologies, Sirs of the Light Race. I'm just an ordinary Rank Nine Ancient God while the Heaven's Legacy Race is the 3rd ranked race…." Zhao Feng looked apologetically at the Light Race.
 "This…" For a moment, Twilight Valley didn't know how to respond.

 But at this moment, the Ancestral Artifact fragment suddenly spoke, "Zhao Feng, as long as you help us defeat these people, I am willing to serve you!"
 The Ancestral Artifact fragment was willing to serve Zhao Feng, but it demanded that Yu Heng and Ancient Soul Hall be defeated first.
 "Ancestral Artifact fragment, I agree to your request!" Zhao Feng put on a look of pleasant surprise mixed together with struggle, as if he found it very hard to resist this enormous temptation and finally decided to agree.

 With a thought from Yu Heng, a gold and silver stream of light erupted from his back and crashed into the blade of Time energy, annihilating it. Meanwhile, he continued to pursue Zhao Feng.
 Zhao Feng naturally wouldn't just wait to be killed by Yu Heng.

 The golden wings on his back began to rapidly move, and he vanished in a streak of golden light.
 Truthfully, Zhao Feng really had expended an enormous amount of energy for that God Eye Illusory Oblivion. Aside from the obvious reason, the play he had performed with the little thieving cat was also to buy himself time to recover Origin energy.
 "Kill Zhao Feng first!" Yu Heng roared.

 The Light Race was ranked 7th among the Ten Thousand Ancient Races and was extremely difficult to deal with. But Zhao Feng was able to neutralize his attacks, so he needed to kill Zhao Feng first. If he allowed Zhao Feng to recover, he would have an even greater problem on his hands.
 However, Zhao Feng possessed powerful Spacetime Intent and had the Spacetime Robe, a supreme-quality divine artifact, making him one of the fastest people here.
 "Break!" Yu Heng suddenly stopped and waved his palm, shattering the enormous blade of light.
 After dealing with Twilight Valley's attack, Yu Heng did not continue to pursue. He quietly floated in the air, exuding a tyrannical and scornful aura.

 Another test tube the size of a finger appeared in front of him, gold and silver blood flowing within.
 At the sight of this test tube, Xin Wuheng, Twilight Valley, and Zhao Feng all grimaced. The blood in these test tubes not only allowed Yu Heng to maintain his Ancient Race energy, but also allowed him to explode with even greater strength.
 "It's over." Yu Heng faintly smiled.
 The attack that he had unleashed before was neutralized by Zhao Feng. This time, after taking this liquid and unleashing another supreme attack, his target would be not Zhao Feng, but Xin Wuheng and Twilight Valley. If he could kill either one of them, everything would be over.
 "No! Stop him!" Twilight Valley immediately roared.

 "Oh no!" Xin Wuheng's expression dimmed. Now that Yu Heng had taken this liquid, his strength would reach unprecedented levels. Even he felt like retreating now.
 "How could this be?" Ancient God Resplendence and Ancient God Cheng Yun felt like the world had become pitch-black. They only just emerged from the darkness before being plunged back in once more.
 "No, this can't be allowed!" Zhao Feng activated his left eye and focused on Yu Heng.
 God Eye Illusory Oblivion! Zhao Feng gathered all the Origin energy that he could in his left eye.
 Buzz! Bzzz!
 Layer after layer of dreamy mist seeped into the world. In a flash, everything in Zhao Feng's vision was covered in dreamy and beautiful colors.
 "That is…?" Zhao Feng's gaze froze. He saw a strange and dreamy liquid in Yu Heng's mouth, flowing down his throat.
 It's you…! Extinguish for me! Zhao Feng focused his thoughts on that liquid covered in dreamy light.
 Whoosh!
 A moment later, that strange liquid collapsed and disappeared. Zhao Feng's vision then returned to normal.
 "Eh!?" Yu Heng licked his lips and shouted in alarm. What happened to the medicine I just took?


His will is tough and unwilling to be normal. However, being born in a small family branch his pathway was destined to be this way.
One day his left eye merges with the eye of an Ancient God in an accident. From that moment onwards, he turns from a fish into a dragon.
He rises like a star, and walks the path of a legendary cultivator.
From being a tiny, small ant at the bottom of the world, he rises step by step, into a place full of powerful sects, strong ancient clans and countless geniuses.
This is an era of legends.

Twilight woke up early the next day. She told Spike to stay home this time, for his wound was still healing. She quickly ate breakfast and made sure to pack a gun. That's right, Twilight bought a gun. She had practiced a little, and figured out how to hold the gun properly in her mouth. But holding it in her mouth made it more difficult to pull the trigger. So she tried holding it with her hoof.

But that made it more difficult to hold the gun. Twilight never had a gun in her possession, and never thought she needed one, until now. She didn't like holding a gun at all, neither did anypony. But she couldn't use her magic and she didn't know how to fight, so she had no choice. She put the gun in her bag that she strapped around her back, and headed out the door.

She flew up to Cloudsdale in her hot air balloon, and noticed that Rainbow Dash wasn't home. In fact, she just left. Twilight just saw her leave, for she had shot through the sky, leaving only a rainbow behind. Twilight secretly followed Rainbow Dash, wondering where she was headed to. Eventually, she came upon a huge factory. 

Lightning struck over it, and a dark rainbow just erupted from the factory. Pegasi with lab coats were flying in and out of the factory. Twilight curiously, yet cautiously, tip-toed her way in the factory undetected. She hid behind a wall, and saw Rainbow Dash go through a secret room. Twilight tried following, but had been detected.

"Hey! You there! Halt!" One of the ponies said. 

Twilight gasped and saw two masked ponies fly towards her, holding their electrocution  stick thingies [also known as tasers]. Twilight ran as fast as her hooves could run, hoping they wouldn't catch up to her. Unfortunately, the masked ponies were fast, but not as fast as Rainbow Dash. So Twilight managed to escape. However, more and more masked ponies began to detect Twilight, until Twilight just gave up. 

Twilight skid to a stop and turned towards the masked ponies in defeat. She was panting, and sweat trailed down her purple coat. She needed to regain her breath before speaking. The masked ponies surrounded Twilight, ready to electrocute her.

"Okay, okay, you win." Twilight said.

One of the masked ponies spoke.

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" The masked pony asked.

"My name is Twilight Sparkle, and I"ve come to see Rainbow Dash."

The mask ponies gasped and began to whisper, before turning their attention back to Twilight.

"Aren't you the pony who defeated Nightmare Moon?" One masked pony asked.

"And reformed Discord, the master of chaos?" Another masked pony asked.

"And took the amulet from the Great and Powerful Trixie?" A third masked pony asked.

"Well, yes." Twilight answered."But I had some help from my pony friends, and one of my friends is Rainbow Dash. Could I speak to her, please?"

"Hmm...I don't know."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, Rainbow Dash told us that unicorns and earth ponies aren't allowed in this factory. Only Pegasi. This is a secret organization that nopony, besides us, is supposed to know about."

"I'm sure she'll understand. After all, we're friends. And if it was so secret, then why is your factory hovering over the sky right next to Cloudsdale?"

"Well, you see, ugh-"

"What's the hold up?!" A familiar voice yelled.

The masked ponies, including Twilight, turned their attention towards Rainbow Dash. She zoomed out of the room she entered and landed on the ground in front of the ponies. She confusingly looked at Twilight, while Twilight looked at her with shock. She was wearing a lab coat with blood stains here and there on her blue coat. Her mane and tail looked a mess, and she had a mean frown the entire time. 

"R-R-R-Rainbow Dash?" Twilight asked.

"Twilight, what the buck are you doing here?" Rainbow Dash calmly asked, but with a hint of annoyance.

"I-I-I-I wanted t-t-t-to ask you something."

What is it, Twilight?" 

"I-I-I-I, ugh…"

Twilight looked around, sweating, not sure what to do.

"Ugh, I wanted to ask you why, you haven't been coming to Ponyville lately."

Rainbow Dash stared at her for a while before answering. 

"I've been busy. Now get out, before you stick your muzzle in place it shouldn't be stuck in." Rainbow Dash demanded. 

"W-What?! You've been busy?!" Twilight said. "That's all you have to say?! But-"

"Shut up!" Rainbow Dash yelled.

Twilight was shocked, but closed her mouth. Rainbow Dash was angry. Very angry.

"Work is more important than 'hanging out!' Don't you know how much hard work it takes to-" 

Rainbow Dash then stopped.

"...How much did you see?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"W-What do you mean?" Twilight asked.

"What did you...What did you see when you...entered this factory?"

"The only thing I saw were masked ponies-"

"Good. That means it's not too late for you to leave. Now get out."

"B-But Rainbow Dash please-"

"I said get out!"

The masked ponies dragged Twilight towards the exit. Twilight struggle.

"Let me go, now!" Twilight yelled.

"Sorry Twilight, but you'll regret not leaving this factory." One masked pony said.

Twilight didn't listen. She managed to escape one of the pony's grasp and punched him in the jaw. The other masked pony gasped and growled.

"You just punched my brother! Why I ought to kick your-"

Twilight bucked the other masked pony off. She then ran away from the masked ponies once again, avoiding them and their electrical sticks. While running, she ran into a wide room which looked like the main room. She immediately saw a bunch of crying fillies standing in the middle of the floor.

"W-What's going on here?"

One of the crying fillies turned their heads towards Twilight. Her eyes were stiff and full of tears. She sobbed, trying to speak. 

"H-Help us, please, please." She yelled.

"Oh my goodness, I-"

Before Twilight could finish, she felt someone's hoof slam against the back of her head. Twilight landed on her back and rolled over several times. She groaned and opened her eyes, only to see Rainbow Dash, absolutely enraged.

"What the BUCK do you think you're doing?!" Rainbow Dash asked.

Twilight hesitantly stood up with shaking legs. She knew she was going to have to face Rainbow Dash's fury, and prepared for the worst. She stood tall and brave, although she was still afraid. 

"Rainbow Dash, why are all of these fillies crying, and what are they doing here?" Twilight asked.

Rainbow Dash growled furiously.

"That's none of your business-"

"Why do you have blood on your coat, and what are all these masked ponies doing-"

"Twilight, shut up now-"

"No! I will not!" Twilight yelled.

Rainbow Dash was surprised, and the room grew silent.

"I've been through way too much! All of our friends are acting psycho and so are you! I have no clue what's going on here, but by the looks of it, whatever you're doing, isn't good at all!"

Twilight pounced onto Rainbow Dash, eyes full of fury.

"Now tell me, or I swear to Celestia, I'll knock the blue off your coat!"

Rainbow Dash stared at her for a second, before chuckling.

"Very well. You wanna know what's going on? I'll tell you what's going on." Rainbow Dash said.

Rainbow Dash flew into the air.

"Welcome, to the Rainbow Factory! Here we grind young Pegasi into rainbows, so that they may make themselves useful to Cloudsdale, and all of Equestria!"

Twilight was shocked. This was the worst one. Fillies, being tortured and grind into...rainbows?!

"W-What?! Why?!" Twilight asked, shocked evident in her voice.

"Take a look at these worthless fillies." Rainbow Dash said.

Twilight looked at all the crying fillies who stared at her with sorry and pain. 

"None of these ponies can fly." Rainbow Dash said.

"...So, that's why you're turning them into rainbows?! For an idiotic reason like that-"

"There's a disgrace to the Pegasi name! And they deserve to die-"

"So, if I fail my math test, you're gonna grind me into a mathematical textbook?" Twilight said, with a hint of sarcasm.

Rainbow Dash growled.

"It's not that simple-"

"Obviously it isn't, if you're killing poor innocent fillies-"

"Well you know what?!" Rainbow Dash yelled. "You can join them!"

"Wait...what?"

"That's right, I said it! You know too much anyway; you can shut down our business."

"But...but Rainbow Dash-"

"Guards! Take this pony down!" Rainbow Dash ordered.

The guards walked towards Twilight. Twilight pulled out her gun and tried holding it, but it kept falling out of her hooves. Rainbow Dash laughed quite loudly.

"Are you actually attempting to shoot me?! You can't even hold it right! How pathetic!"

She continued to laugh while Twilight tried holding the gun in her mouth. 

"You cannot stop me! I am Rainbrute, the leader of the Rainbow Factory and the Element of Loyalty! I stay loyal to true Pegasi, unlike these worthless, flightless specimens who-" 

Twilight accidentally pulled the trigger using her mouth, and the bullet shot Rainbrute's hoof. Rainbrute screamed in pain and began rapidly flying in circles, until the pain slowly went down. Her hoof was bleeding, and drops of blood hit the floor. Rainbrute looked up at Twilight with an enraged expression.

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Rainbrute yelled.

Oh it was about to go down.

A friend of my helped me to find Ponypastas on the internet. Ponypastas are creepypastas about My Little Pony. I do not claim rights to anything here, but wanted to share these stories with others. For those that don't know, Creepy (copy) pastas (paste) are fictional horror stories on the internet. They are meant to be shared, with no one claiming copyrights to them, ex. Bloody Mary. Please enjoy!!

Having confirmed his soul pact with the little servant-ranked Dusklight Wolf, Rao Wu smiled. "Alright little guy. If you're gonna follow me from now on then you need a name."
"Wao! Wao!"
The other Dusklight Wolf cubs barked with displeasure and jealousy. It had to be known that Rao Wu had named all the Dusklight Wolves in the tribe except for them. Just because Rao Wu chose the servant-ranked Dusklight Wolf did not mean he should suddenly ignore them.
"Pfft!" Rao Wu burst out laughing as he looked at the indignant cubs. "Don't worry guys! I'm gonna give you all names." Indeed, the only reason Rao Wu did not name them earlier and kept his distance was to reduce the chance he favored one of them over the others before he made the soul pact. "I'm just gonna name him first, alright?"
"Wurwuu~" The cubs nodded and then watched with excited eyes as Rao Wu tapped the servant-ranked cub.
Rao Wu's eyes held warmth as he looked into the cub's determined eyes. Its stubborn gaze bore the desire to rise above its destined path, and one day stand at the top of all soul monsters. "The only way to achieve the strength you want is to continually fight, and breakthrough your limits. So, I'll name you Xian Da. Are you prepared to charge to the top with me?"
"Rraff!" Xian Da's energetic bark was weak and small, barely enough to frighten a cockroach, but it did not care. It would climb step by step, through a mountain of corpses and blood until a single bark would cause the continent to tremble. Perhaps it was an unreasonably lofty goal, but Xian Da had already set its little mind on it.
Rao Wu smiled when he saw the grit in Xian Da's eyes. After living for so long in the jungle, he had come to learn that strength was not enough to reach the pinnacle. Strength could protect one's position, but if they wanted to achieve even more, then they could only struggle to obtain the resources required. However, life was cruel, and without the necessary drive, many would become complacent with their lot. Rao Wu was thus completely satisfied with Xian Da's determination. Now, Rao just had to ensure that he kept Xian Da's flames forever lit. This was his job as a soul trainer.
"Wao! Wao!"
"Alright, alright, It's your turn." Rao Wu laughed as he turned to look at the remaining restless cubs. He looked at Midnight and Twilight and then nodded. Following the convention, he named them in order, "Lunar, Sunrise, Moonlight, and Eclipse."
Midnight and Twilight looked at Rao Wu with weird looks in their eyes. This was a little too carefree, right? "Wao! Wao! Wao!" However, their thoughts dissipated when they saw the joy in their cubs who were excitedly jumping around.
Twilight cracked a smile and then looked at Midnight. "Wu?" It felt the time was right. Rao Wu was at the perfect strength. Any longer, and they would miss the opportunity.
Midnight, however, had hesitation in her eyes. Even though she was cold and aloof, she truly saw Rao Wu as one of hers. Add to that, little Xian Da... It was too dangerous. However, she knew Midnight was right. This was the best time for them. Perhaps Rao Wu might even succeed where his father failed.
Seeing Midnight silent, Twilight knew he had convinced her. Only, this doting mother could not bring herself to say the words with her own mouth. Hehe, when did that selfish maverick become such a worrywart mother? "Rraff!" Twilight teased Midnight, causing him to nearly lose his tail from her sharp bite.
Twilight sweated as he dodged the irate mother. Why did he tease her like that? It wasn't like he did not know her temper.
Shaking his head, Twilight brought Rao Wu and Xian Da away from the other cubs. Once they were alone, Twilight's expression turned grave as he asked Rao Wu a question the child did not expect. 'Where do you think the Eternal Spring comes from?'
Rao Wu was confused. How was he supposed to know? All he knew was that the Eternal Spring seemed endless, could heal injuries, and he was not allowed to breathe a word of it to anyone else... not even his friend, Loudy.
Twilight, seemingly not expecting Rao Wu to know the answer, slowly revealed a strange history before Rao Wu could even open his mouth.
Many years ago, Twilight and Midnight were regular Dusklight Wolf cubs. One day, their tribe was attacked by a wandering Dusklight Wolf tribe. Their parents, who were part of the tribe's leaders were ultimately slain. Following the custom, Midnight, Twilight, and many other cubs should have been killed, but Midnight brought a group of them, helping them escape this ultimate calamity.
Unfortunately, the jungle was not a kind place to wandering cubs. Along the way, each of their friends died until only Twilight and Midnight remained. At this time, they came across a heavily injured youth who seemed to be running from some grave danger. That injured youth was none other than the young Taylor Wu.
Perhaps because he was in a precarious position, the young Taylor empathized with the lost cubs. He carried the faint cubs into a nearby cave and fed them his rations. However, Taylor's pursuers doggedly chased him into the cave. Realizing he would get caught, Taylor ran deep into the cave. Luckily, he lost his pursuers in the maze-like tunnels, but then, he also lost his way.
Days went by, and just when the youth was about to give up, they stumbled into a luminescent cavern with a spring lake. This lake had miraculous healing properties. A few sips and the despondent trio were once again full of energy, and Taylor's injuries completely healed.
Taylor did not dare go out the same way he came in for fear of once again getting lost in the dark caves. But, with no other way out, Taylor proposed checking if the lake was connected to another cavern. The boy was an experienced adventure and often found that most lakes in caves were connected to larger bodies of water. However, only luck determined if the channel was passable.
Fortunately, Taylor's guess proved to be true. There was indeed an underground channel that led to another cavern. However, this cavern housed a terrifying test with incredible rewards. At the time, Taylor, Midnight, and Twilight failed to go all the way before getting ejected, but the rewards caused Midnight and Twilight to mutate into Star Dusklight Wolves.
Twilight did not know the origins of the test, but he was certain that Rao Wu and Xian Da would reap immense benefits if they managed to pass. However, in order to ensure Rao Wu performed better than his father, Twilight asked Rao Wu to get two objects.
The first was a leaf known to the humans as Diver's Heart. The second was to purchase numerous jugs. Both items could be found in human cities.
Rao Wu's eyes lit up with excitement. "Really!? I can go to the city?"
"Gruu~" Twilight growled softly. He felt bad for restricting Rao Wu's movements for so long. A human child belonged in a human town surrounded by fellow humans. He was afraid that spending so long in the jungle would have permanently altered Rao Wu's life. It was about time the child began to familiarize himself with humans. "Rraff!"
"Yes! I'll be careful," Rao Wu nodded. He was about to say something, but then he paused and slapped his forehead. "Ah! Loudy's strengthening! I have to see how it went!" The child's attention span was still very short. He took off as soon as he remembered his friend, leaving a bemused Twilight behind.
Meanwhile, on the surface, Rao Wu excitedly ran out of the cave to the mound where he left Loudy. "Oooh!" The child's eyes glistened with amazement when he saw the young Steelback Ape sitting on the ground and examining its body.
The strengthening seemed to have worked. The Steelback Ape's skin had transformed into a deep silver, signifying its defensive ability had ranked up to general rank. For Steelback Apes, their main attribute was their defensive skin. Once it ranked up to general, the Steelback Ape was considered to have also ranked up to general rank.
Rao Wu's eyes gleamed with joy as he tapped Loudy's arms and back. Feeling the increasingly firm muscles, Rao Wu chuckled as he praised his friend, "Hehe! A phase 2 general. I bet none of your mates will dare fight you now."
Loudy proudly roared and thumped its chest. "Guo~ Guo~"
"Hehe, I can't even come close to your strength now." Rao Wu rubbed his nose, but the bright grin revealed how happy he was for his friend. "Ah, that's right. Check this out!" Rao Wu quickly summoned Xian Da and then grinned as the little cub popped out of the summoning circle. "What do you think? I'm finally a soul trainer! I have my first soul pet too!"
"Guo~" A complicated light flashed in Loudy's eyes as he looked at Xian Da.
Rao Wu, oblivious to his friend's internal struggle continued to babble, "Ah, that's right. Uncle Twilight always said I'll go out into the world once I become a soul trainer. Ah, but then I'll have to say goodbye to everyone." Upon realizing the implications of what he just said Rao Wu's mood fell just as quickly as it rose, and he plopped down next to Loudy. "Hey, Loudy. Is the outside world really that great? I don't think I can live without seeing you guys for so long."
Loudy looked at the sullen Rao Wu. After a few moments, it made up its mind and then quickly fired off a series of unintelligible sounds. "Guo! Guo!"
Rao Wu's eyes lit up as he looked at Loudy. "Really? You'll come with me?"
"Guo! Guo! Guo! Guo~"
"Haha! Yeah! We'll conquer the world together, and then come back as heroes." The easily excited Rao Wu jumped to his feet and then raised his eyes to meet the setting sun. "We'll travel all over, fight every soul monster, and then... and then..." Rao Wu hesitated. There was one phrase Uncle Twilight had repeated since he could remember. The goal all soul trainers aspired towards. The road was long and perilous. But, as Rao Wu looked at Loudy, and then the grit in Xian Da's eyes, he steeled his resolve and shouted, "We'll become the Emperors of Soul Pets!"
Early the Next Morning, Rao Wu awoke before the sun rose. He had a long trek to reach the city, but there were certain things he had to take care of first. Rao Wu left the cave with Xian Da, and then greeted the Dusklight Wolves on sentry duty as he made his way to a nearby stream.
Rao Wu and Xian Da drank some water and had a quick wash, then the young man walked to an enclosure that had many shattered rocks and tree barks. This was Rao Wu's training ground, where he spent the better part of his morning before he went hunting.
"Guo~" Unsurprisingly, Loudy jumped down from a treetop. Every morning, he too joined Rao Wu's intense training. That was one major reason why his strengthening succeeded. "Guo Guo~" Loudy sent an apologetic gibber at Xian Da. The little cub did not know what it had gotten itself into by becoming this crazy boy's soul pet.
"Stop scaring him," Rao Wu softly scolded as he walked over and knocked on several tree trunks. After finding one that was to his liking, he nodded and then called Xian Da over. He placed his hand on the tree and then softly said, "Since you're a wolf, there's no point in focusing your training on your defense. Instead, we'll focus on your claws, teeth, and agility."
Xian Da's little head cocked to the side, not understanding what exactly Rao Wu wanted.
"Just like this." Rao Wu, rather than explaining, showed with his actions. Riip! The young man swiped at the tree with his hand. Surprisingly, his fingernails tore through the bark, leaving four deep impressions. Rao Wu's eyes lit up as he waved to Loudy. "Hey, it looks like my nails finally ranked up!"
"Hnghh!" Loudy snorted as he dropped a fresh boulder nearby. Rao Wu was too much of a freak! Who heard of a human's nails increasing in rank? That was supposed to be reserved for monsters.
Rao Wu ignored Loudy and then turned back to Xian Da. "If I can do it, you can. Give it a try."
"Rraff!" Xian Da approached the tree with a strong gaze and then raised its hand. Swipe! "Rraoo!" The little cub cried out in pain. The tree was much harder than it looked, causing the cub to nearly rupture its claws.
"Other paw!" Without giving Xian Da time to rest, Rao Wu ordered Xian Da to swipe with its left.
"Rruu..." Xian Da was in so much pain. But then, out of the corner of its eyes, it spotted Loudy crashing into the new boulder. Despite just strengthening itself the previous day, the rough boulder tore into its skin, causing it to bleed. Xian Da's eyes trembled. Even Loudy, as strong as he was, still harshly trained. As a servant-ranked Dusklight Wolf, it's starting point was even lower. If it wanted to accompany Rao Wu on his path to becoming an Emperor, then it had to walk an even bloodier and more painful path.
"Rraff!" Its resolve bolstered, Xian Da quickly swiped at the tree with its left paw. "Rrao!" It swallowed the pain, and then quickly repeated the process. Left, right, left, right. At first, the pain was unbearable, but overtime, Xian Da settled into a rhythm that let it push the pain to the back of its mind.
"Xian Da, Punishing Claws!"
Rao Wu's sudden call broke Xian Da's concentration, but the little cub still instinctively used the low-level technique. Energy poured into its right paw as it swiped at the tree bark.
Piak!
Xian Da's vision nearly went white with pain as one of its claws snapped off. Punishing Claws was a powerful technique, but when used on a tough surface, it only resulted in more harm to the user.
"Punishing Claw!"
Rao Wu's merciless voice broke through Xian Da's pain. The little cub, with tears in its eyes, quickly put energy in its left paw and then swiped at the tree again. 'Piak'
"Rwuwuwu~" Xian Da cried as it collapsed to the ground, blood bleeding from its paws.
"Good job." Rao Wu kneeled next to the crying cub and patted its back. "Loudy, bring the Sage Dewberries."
"Guo~" Loudy, as if predicting the request, already had a batch of Sage Dewberries firmly clasped in its hands. It passed the red leaves and fruit to Rao Wu, who squashed then squashed and blended them between his palms.
Rao Wu smiled softly as he gently lifted Xian Da's paw. "Sorry, this will sting a little." Sage Dewberries, when crushed with their leaves had a profound healing effect. Although their effects were nowhere as strong as the Eternal Spring Wine, Rao Wu used them as cover when he was outside the cave. Unfortunately, the mulch stung injuries while healing them.
Xian Da bit back its cries as tears pooled in its eyes. Its fighting spirit refused to lose to mere pain. It had never suffered so much pain in its life, but it knew that in order to improve, it first had to undergo a baptism of flame.
"Guo~" Loudy comforted the little cub as it sat down. The Steelback Ape recalled its first training with Rao Wu. It had suffered just as badly, crying when its fists bled from punching the tree barks.
"There we go." Rao Wu patted Xian Da when he finished applying the Sage Dewberry. In a few hours, a new, stronger set of claws would grow. Of course, Xian Da would have to repeat this process countless times before its claws would rank up. Rao Wu gently cradled Xian Da's paw as he looked into the cub's eyes. "Good work, Xian Da. I promise we'll climb to the top together."
"Rraff!" Xian Da's proud confirmatory bark pierced through the night.
