Throughout his lunch, Thirteen couldn't contain his excitement, and spoke with Nine about his progress.

"Congratulations" Nine said with a small smile. "Once you've figured out each of those techniques, you should join us in the dojo before the days end. Now that private sparring is open, half of the 8th generation can be found there. I've spent most of the day sparring with Ten and Forty-five."

'Right, I haven't had a chance to spar with any of my friends except Ten before.' "Sure, I'll probably head outside for a while first, but once I'm done ill drop by the dojo." Thirteen decided, before realizing something. "Wait, you didn't spar with Four?"

"He's not there" Nine answered. "He's still outside with his helper, practicing the techniques of his art."

At that, Thirteen grounded his thoughts a bit. 'Right. I'm positive I'm one of the earliest to complete the first step in fundamental refinement, but that doesn't mean I'm the first to practice the unique arts. Many of the others don't require completion of the first step to practice their techniques, as long as they've begun the refinement process.'

Finishing his meal first, Thirteen stood. "I'll see you in a while" "See you then".

Taking his plate to the kitchen, he washed it and then left the dining hall to make his way to the practice area outside.

Once he left the manor, Thirteen was hit with a chilling breeze. 'Its getting colder by the day' He thought as he regretted not wearing a cloak.

Within the clearing were a great deal of people, both the 8th generation and their helpers.

Among them, Thirteen spotted both Four and Eleven, with the former watching the latter train.

Eleven seemed to be practicing the same sword forms Thirteen had seen him learning a week ago, only he now executed them at a snails pace.

'What is he doing?' Thirteen thought. 'At this rate he will take a whole minute to perform a few strikes.' His thoughts came to a halt however, as Thirteen noticed misty clouds gathering around Eleven's sword.

'Qi clouds?!' Thirteen thought in shock. Qi clouds belonged to the Condensation Stage of fundamental qi refinement. If one were to break qi refinement into five steps like body refinement, it would be the third. Whereas blood refinement & enrichment would count only as the first.

'Wait. That's not possible.' Thirteen began to calm himself as he slowed his breath to that most basic rhythm for sensing qi. Although he no longer needed to do this, he found it always heightened his ability to sense it.

'So that's it. The qi clouds aren't his. That snail's pace sword form isn't a combat technique, its his cultivation art. It manages to resonate with the surrounding qi and gather it in faint clouds towards the user. I assume he's able to cultivate the energy while performing those movements too.' Thirteen felt a daunting realization dawning.

'If he's able to cultivate the gathered qi clouds like I think, wouldn't that be like having all the qi of a Condensation stage cultivator to absorb? How do I outpace that?' Thirteen began to worry. His only hope was that Eleven couldn't absorb all of that energy, but just a portion. It seemed reasonable, and he really hoped it was the case, so that's what he concluded it must be.

Walking over to Four, Thirteen called out.

"This isn't like you. Why halt your own cultivation to watch his?"

"I'm waiting." Four replied curtly. "When he's done, I'm going to drag him off to the dojo and teach him a lesson."

For some reason, Thirteen felt a sinking sensation. "Why?"

"What do you mean why? Did you get hit in the head as well as the shin?" Four asked, genuinely confused.

"If it's about Nine and I, just leave it" Thirteen said, frowning for reasons he couldn't guess.

"Why? You're not the only one mad at the brat, you and Nine are my brothers!
"When Nine was hurt, you rushed to Diores to challenge him. Now even you have been hurt and you want me to sit still like its not my problem?"

Thirteen could see Four getting visibly mad, but he couldn't help but insist.

Faltering for a moment to think of a reason, Thirteen eventually gave up and spoke his intent. "Look, just… Give me one more chance. If with one more chance i cant beat him… Then fine. He's all yours." Looking Four in the eyes, he added "I want to beat him."

Four looked at thirteen for a good while with a seemingly grave expression, before suddenly relaxing his face and grinning. "Bout time. I was worried you'd keep hiding away in your room."

Confused, Thirteen tried to defend himself "I wasn't hiding! I wa–"

"Alright. He's all yours." Four stated casually, clearly not nearly as bothered by it as Thirteen had been. "I need to get back to it" He stated as he walked in the direction of shaded sitting stones where his helper, a man in his late 40s, could be found laying with his eyes closed.

After a few steps however, Four stopped and looked to Thirteen. "I'd recommend you settle this thing soon though. He's hurt at the moment, so if you want to go eye for eye, now's the time."

"Wounded?" Thirteen asked.

"Yeah, his back is all cut up. I saw it a few times when he practiced his sword forms." Four replied as he again began to walk away.

"Wounded…" Thirteen muttered. Thinking back to his own fight with thirteen, and what was done to his leg, Thirteen fancied the devilish thought for a moment before shaking it away.

'This time… I really do want to beat him at his best.

...Why is that?' He pondered.

For the next two hours, Thirteen practiced his new techniques on the surrounding trees. This wasn't something he needed Melia for, so he didn't bother finding her at the manor's center.

The Grand Life Tome taught four distinct techniques, each of which would grow more powerful and versatile as he cultivated. Lifesight was a utility technique, there was also a combat technique named Withering. Another was called Lifebringer, which for now could only be used to bolster another's lifeforce, while the fourth, Regeneration, was an always active ability rather than a 'technique' per say.

Regeneration was the ability to visibly heal from wounds. While Thirteen already had a healing attribute as a meta, according to Nicholas' lectures, meta attributes were innate changes to a person's abilities, and any cultivation art that enhanced that same aspect would always display extraordinary results in the hands of an appropriate meta.

When Thirteen was sure of his capability to activate each of these techniques, and confident in his most basic understanding of them, he decided to head to the dojo.

Looking once more at Eleven's training before he left, Thirteen noticed he had ceased gathering qi clouds to cultivate and was now practicing his sword forms in earnest. A strange tempo seemed to lie behind his wide swings, that would shift from swift to slow seemingly at random. The moves seemed to rely quite heavily on maintaining the 'smooth' property, almost like a dance, so it became quite obvious whenever Eleven found his movement impeded or uncomfortable due to the injuries his shirt hid.

Not sparing another look, Thirteen made his way to the dojo.

When he first opened the doors to the dojo, Thirteen was met with a cacophony of noise. Within the great hall were many pairs of 8th generation students sparring with metal swords, the sounds of clashing and conflict echoing loudly.

The air too became immediately denser as he entered and made his way towards the sight of his friends. Currently, Ten & Nine were engaged in a duel, the former employing palm strikes, fists and kicks, while the later defended with a sword and tried to make the most of any opportunities.

"Thirteen!" A voice called out.

"Forty-five. They been at it long?" Thirteen replied to the girl while gesturing to Nine & Ten.

"Sparring? All day. Oh.. wait, this fight? Not long." She replied, hastily.

"All right then. Want to spar? I've been sat down for a day and a half now and I'm eager to get moving again."

"Sure" She responded cheerfully. "Arts?"

Smiling slightly, Thirteen agreed "Yep"

Thirteen knew that Forty-five cultivated a qi art called the Butterfly Sword, but had no idea of its capabilities. Looking at the blade in her hand, it was quite short and thin. 'That one was called… A smallsword I think?'

Thirteen drew his blade from the waist. He no longer carried a wooden weapon, but rather a steel sword. Melia had been teaching him the longsword, and so what he held in two hands now was the very same, its tip was rounded and its edge blunt, but it was still a heavy weapon that could be very dangerous if handled poorly.

"Forty-five, agility meta, qi cultivator.' Thirteen didn't miss the new addition to the tradition.

"Thirteen, healing, body refiner."

After a small delay, Forty-five immediately began to advance on Thirteen. He didn't know much about how the girl fought, but he assumed by her attribute and weapon she would opt for a quick offense.

He was right, as Forty-five immediately opened with a thrust once she entered range. Thirteen twisted his body to the left slightly as he swept his sword to deflect her own. His weapon had much greater weight to it, easily knocking her sword wide as he made to slash at her diagonally from a bottom left position.

Thirteen however, was caught off guard when of all things, Forty-five decided to spin with the momentum! 'What are you doing?!' he thought as he made to capitalize on the situation, accelerating his own swing as much as possible.

What left him stunned though, was that before he could make contact, she was already facing him again, having stepped past his optimal range, and once more stabbing toward him.

Reining in his weighty sword, Thirteen placed the ball of his left hand against the flat of his blade and swept it from left to right, deflecting the incoming thrust, before again positioning his left hand on the end of the grip and raising his sword naturally into an ox stance.

Even as he made to shift into a downward swing, Thirteen's mind worked 'An agility meta, just like Eleven. Does this mean she can pull off things like spins? Melia always said to steer clear of spins unless you were absolutely sure your opponent's weapon was knocked far away.'

Swinging down with the longsword, Forty-five didn't try to block with her lighter weapon, instead moving backwards swiftly to avoid the blow. Thirteen then pushed his downward swinging sword into a thrust as she moved back, and was sure to make contact.

At that moment, Forty-five, as if giving up, let go of her smallsword.

*Vfffrrrr* The air buzzed.

The small sword came flying at Thirteen faster than he had seen her do before. Even more astounding, she wasn't holding it! Forty-five didn't throw the sword. It was flying at him!

Abandoning his winning strike that wouldn't make it in time, Thirteen gave all it all he had to pull the longsword back to him in time. Bending his arms and raising his right elbow high, he made use of the base of the blade and its crossguard to catch the incoming sword and push it left, as he twisted his head and body right.

His movements were incredibly swift, faster than he had ever managed to pull off before, and with it, a sting in his arms from pulling back his full strength thrust.

The smallsword was deflected, but Forty-five gave him no time to recover himself, rushing in close she released a swift leg kick with her left.

Thirteen took the hit, unable to react in time, but steadied himself well. Shifting his left hand to grip his weapon as a halfsword, he limited its reach to deal with the close quarter combatant before him, cutting up at her from the left.

As she dodged backwards, Thirteen relied on the same trick again, extending his sword into a thrust as he forced distance between them and returned to a two handed grip.

A moment of silence passed as Thirteen gradually repositioned himself to keep both the girl and her smallsword that lay a few feet away within his sight.

"I thought we were fighting with arts?" She asked somewhat sarcastically.

'Right.' Thirteen realized, his eyes widening slightly. He'd become so focused on the moment that he'd neglected his most recent achievement.

Channeling his blood and will in a very peculiar way, Thirteen felt a type of vacuum forming around his hands. With a lot of concentration, he gradually extended it along his sword. 'Perhaps a shorter sword would have been better' he thought to himself.

Luckily Forty-five simply collected her sword by hand as she waited for him.

With a breath of relief, Thirteen finished extending his Withering ability along the blade. Now he need only maintain it.

"Thank you"

"No worries." She replied briefly, before making her stance.

Jian Wushuang had lost count of how many battles he had fought.
However, he knew his sword skills were improving at a tremendous rate.
No other opportunities could help him improve at such a great rate.
This was because he was fighting against an expert of a completely new level. It was as though these experts had opened a new door to Sword Doctrine.
There had been a leap in his sword skills and his understanding of Sword Doctrine compared to before.
Jian Wushuang felt that he could kill his old self with one simple slash.
That was how much he had improved.
In the dark space, a Space Tunnel appeared in front of Jian Wushuang.
"Looks like I took exactly one thousand years to defeat sixteen opponents."
Jian Wushuang smiled as he followed this space tunnel out of the Sword Doctrine Trial Tower.
"Emperor Thirteen," Jian Wushuang greeted as he bowed slightly.
With the great improvement in his understanding of the Sword Doctrine, Jian Wushuang felt completely different when he looked at Emperor Thirteen once again.
Back then, he had not had a clue how powerful Emperor Thirteen was. He only knew he was extremely powerful.
Now, he felt that Emperor Thirteen himself was a unique divine sword.
The sword essence that he radiated made Jian Wushuang's heart throb.
"Even though my understanding of the Sword Doctrine has improved greatly, I am nothing compared to Emperor Thirteen," Jian Wushuang muttered to himself.
He knew where he stood.
He knew he still needed a lot of practice as his sword skills now were still not good enough for him to go against the Blood Emperor.
When Emperor Thirteen fought Blood Emperor, he was under the Restrictions of Heaven and Earth. He could only use a small portion of his sword skills. 
However, this little portion of his sword skills was already far superior to what Jian Wushuang had right now.
How incredible were his sword skills when Emperor Thirteen was in his prime?
Jian Wushuang could not imagine that.
"How many opponents did you defeat during the one thousand years you were inside?" Emperor Thirteen asked.
While Jian Wushuang had been sparring opponents within the Sword Doctrine Trial Tower, Emperor Thirteen had been meditating and did not take note of what happened within the tower.
"I defeated sixteen," Jian Wushuang said.
"Sixteen?" Emperor Thirteen nodded his head in approval.
He expected that Jian Wushuang could defeat around thirteen or fourteen opponents. Jian Wushuang had gone beyond his expectations and defeated sixteen.
The opponents within the trail tower would become increasingly stronger, and it would be increasingly more difficult to defeat them.
"From the moment you defeat the first opponent, you are considered an ametuer in the Sword Doctrine. If you can defeat the opponents, you will have reached the initial success. When you defeat twenty, you will have reached the Profound Realm. You still have a lot to work on before you reach Profound Realm as you have only managed to defeat sixteen opponents," Emperor Thirteen said.
"I've only reached initial success?" Jian Wushuang raised his eyebrows.
He had thought that the improvement he had over the one thousand years was incredible enough.
He had not expected that he had only reached initial success in his understanding of the Sword Doctrine.
"You will only reach the profound realm after defeating twenty opponents. What if you defeat thirty, fifty or even a hundred opponents?" Jian Wushuang asked.
"You are still in the profound realm after defeating thirty opponents. You will only reach complete satisfactory for the Sword Doctrine after defeating fifty opponents. As for a hundred opponents… You have exceeded the complete satisfactory for the Sword Doctrine and finally reach the Sword Doctrine Realm. You can then be called an expert in sword doctrine," Emperor Thirteen said.
"Sword Doctrine Realm?" Jian Wushuang frowned.
From what Emperor Thirteen had said, there were realms that differentiated people of different levels of mastery of the Sword Doctrine.
Jian Wushuang still had a lot of room to improve before he could reach the profound realm.
Even if someone surpassed being complete satisfactory for sword doctrine and reached the Sword Doctrine Realm, they would be considered an expert in sword doctrine, but not a top tier one.

However, he knew for sure that he could definitely beat Emperor Bai in a batte.

Both the Heaven Suppressing Monument or the Sword Doctrine Trial Tower had helped him greatly as his fighting power had skyrocketed.
Both of these treasures belonged to Emperor Thirteen.
Both of these opportunities were given to him by Emperor Thirteen.
Furthermore, Emperor Thirteen had helped him twice before, and hence Jian Wushuang was extremely grateful.
"I have already given you your opportunities, you can leave now," Emperor Thirteen said coldly and indifferently.

However, he did not ask after seeing how cold Emperor Thirteen was towards him.

Emperor Thirteen fell silent as he looked at Jian Wushuang as he slowly disappeared from his sight. He looked up at the bold man sitting there with a glint of uncertainty.
"There isn't much time left. I tried my best to help the little one. Now, it's up to him alone to reach your benchmark."
"Old man, I hope everything that you are trying to do is worth it. I hope this little man can achieve it. If not, my Seven Star Black Sect…"
Emperor Thirteen clenched his fists tightly and said no more.

Dragon Thirteen knew what Han Sen was doing, but she didn't call him out on it. She simply smiled and asked, "What is unfair?"
"If I lose, I have to lead you guys somewhere that I might die. And if I win, I only get to live. That is what's not fair," Han Sen said with an innocent expression.
Dragon Thirteen was not mad, and so she asked him kindly, "That is not fair? Then what would you suggest is fair?" 
"If I win, for my remaining time in Ancient God's space, how about you be my bodyguard?" Han Sen suggested, raising an eyebrow at Dragon Thirteen.
Dragon Thirteen laughed and said, "That's a good idea! I will be at a disadvantage, but that is okay. I agree to these terms of yours."
"Then that is the deal," Han Sen said seriously.
"Yes." Dragon Thirteen brought out a black, screw-shaped lance in her hands.
The moment she grabbed the lance, Han Sen felt spooked. She gave him a strange feeling. And Han Sen could not feel her inside his Dongxuan Aura, so he was unable to determine her true strength.
Dragon Thirteen held the screw lance, but she did not strike. She sounded confident when she said, "I am not Infinite Buddha. If you wish to use Empty White Teeth to return my attacks, think again."
"Then what am I supposed to do?" Han Sen laughed.
Han Sen just wanted to buy himself some time so he could rest a little bit more. He did not actually expect Dragon Thirteen to reply.
"The Evilbreaker Lance of the Dragon can break any skill thrown against it. Your returning skill might work on other races, but it won't work on me. If you seek victory, use your own strength. I hope you do," Dragon Thirteen said calmly.
"Breaking all skills, you say? That is a bold claim to make," Han Sen said.
Dragon Thirteen simply shrugged. "If you do not believe me, use your Empty White Teeth and see if you are able to return my attack."
After that, Dragon Thirteen attacked Han Sen. The lance became a line that was sharper than a needle.
Han Sen did not make an attempt. Power that had been concentrated like that was not something he could've returned, even if she had not used a skill.
Han Sen's rabbit shoes unleashed a burst of speed as he dodged Dragon Thirteen's lance. His Blood Feather Knife was aimed for her neck.
Dragon Thirteen squinted. Han Sen was just an Earl that was under the Ancient God space's hampering, and yet, he could be that quick. She was surprised.
She was only a little surprised, though. Dragon Thirteen spun her lance, and the lance temporarily disappeared. When it showed up again, the tip was going to come into contact with Han Sen's throat.
Han Sen frowned and jumped to the sky. He dodged Dragon Thirteen's lance and used his Blood Feather Knife.
They kept swooping and flashing between the rocks. No one could accurately trace their movements. They fought for a whole minute, going by each other many times. The knife and lance did not touch each other.
"What is this knifeskill? Teeth Knife should not look like this." The White Tiger Marquise was in shock.
"That is not Teeth Knife. That is Sky Palace's Under the Sky." Sharon's eyes looked sharp.
"Under the Sky? I have never heard of that before," the White Tiger Marquise said doubtfully.
Sharon looked at Han Sen and said, "Under the Sky was created a long time ago by a Sky Palace elder. Due to there being many flaws with it, they forbid the students from ever learning it. It seems to me as if that flaw has been fixed, but who might have done that, I do not know."
"What is so special about this knifeskill?" White Tiger Marquise asked.
"I do not know. I only know this knifeskill is modified and derived from the Textless Book. Due to no one using this skill before, no one really knows how strong it might be. But, people who haven't learned the Textless Book should not be able to learn it. It is surprising Han Sen has learned Under the Sky, especially as he is an outsider." Sharon said.
Han Sen used the speed of the rabbit shoes to fight Dragon Thirteen. Han Sen did not know if Evilbreaker Lance had the power to break skills, but he knew that he didn't have that kind of strength himself. If he became a Marquise, he wagered he could give it a try.
Dragon Thirteen was not as complex as Lone Bamboo. She maintained simple lance techniques and a simple focus on power. There wasn't much variety. But even so, the simplicity of the strikes was still very violent. She could use her power to drive them to the max.
If Han Sen did not have the aid of the rabbit shoes' speed, and Dragon Thirteen was not mellowed by the force of the Ancient God space's power, then Han Sen would have already been hit.
"Dragon Thirteen is powerful! She is a shining example of pure bravery. Her lance conquers everything! Those of the same level must avoid her carefully. I am not a Marquise, and I am weaker," Han Sen thought to himself.
Frighteningly, Dragon Thirteen was becoming bolder for some reason. Her speed and power were increasing, too.
The rabbit shoes started to fail in keeping up with her speed.
"Han Sen was naive to think he could fight Dragon Thirteen. She is the bravest of the Dragons for sure. No one at the same level can fight her. And furthermore, Dragons get stronger the longer they fight. The longer the fight lasts, the worse-off Han Sen will end up," the White Tiger Marquise said.
Sharon frowned and did not speak. He thought something was wrong, but he couldn't quite tell what it was.
Han Sen suddenly retreated to gain some distance. Dragon Thirteen, clutching her lance, tried to catch up with him.
But her armor started cracking as if it was being hit by something. It kept getting cut.
Dragon Thirteen stopped. She looked around and coldly said, "When did you leave this knife air around us?"
"My first strike came while I was airborne. All this time, I have generated countless knife airs. You can't see them, but if you keep hitting them, you know what will eventually happen, yes?" Han Sen smiled.
Combining Under the Sky's strikes with Moon's gentility, Han Sen had set up lots of knives in the air. They were like a mesh of puppet wires all around Dragon Thirteen. They hung in the air, strands of invisible knife silk.

With the appearance of Elder Wu's team, the silent atmosphere grew tense once more.
"Commander, this is bad. Elder Wu actually made a personal trip here," Prison Tiger said, his expression turning grim when he saw Elder Wu and the two neat rows of Thirteen Thrones experts standing behind the elderly man.
Every one of the Thirteen Thrones members present was a Tier 3 player. They outnumbered War Blood's and Starlink's Tier 3 experts combined—a clear display of a Super Guild's strength.
Meanwhile, Elder Wu was someone every power operating on Dragonheart Island knew about. After all, this elderly man was one of Thirteen Thrones' Grand Elders and major shareholders. He had watched Thirteen Thrones grow from nothing into a Super Guild. Even Thirteen Thrones' current Guild Leader had to listen to Elder Wu's words. He was someone with authority within the Super Guild Thirteen Thrones.

He then glanced at the distant Shi Feng and continued, "If there's anybody that dares disrespect you, War Blood will definitely teach them a lesson."
Blood Oath's attitude immediately made the Heaven's Blade members present nervous. They had never thought that Blood Oath would give up on the Tree of Life so decisively and even choose to side with Thirteen Thrones. This situation wasn't beneficial to Heaven's Blade or Zero Wing at all.
"Allow this old man to thank you, then," Elder Wu said, chuckling. He then stopped paying attention to Blood Oath and started walking toward Shi Feng's group of four, together with his subordinates.
As Elder Wu's group approached Shi Feng, the anxiety Heaven's Blade's members felt ramped up. At the same time, the atmosphere also grew increasingly tenser. It felt as if a war would break out at any moment.

Thirteen had his head thrusted to the floor, his neck forcefully pressed down causing him to groan in pain. All he was supposed to do was shoot the man, how did it end up like this? Forced to the floor like an animal, oh wait that's what he probably was seen as. Thirteen no longer remembered what he was called, he didn't remember his name. In fact he didn't seem to remember what his parent's looked like, nor did he remember who's hand he had held on that day, he only remembered that he had held someone's hand and the blue ribbon. The ribbon around his neck was a constant reminder of that day, not of who was there, but of what had happened. 

"Who sent you?" The man behind him had spoke with an authoritative voice demanding an answer. 

"No clue." Thirteen had managed to grunt back as he shifted a bit due to the uncomfortable position he was forced to maintain. Thirteen could only grunt once more when the hand pressing down on him exerted another forceful push down.

"As if I'd believe that." Another deep voice had said coming from in front of Thirteen rather than behind him, this voice was rather smooth not as rough and uncultured as the voice that came from behind him. 

"Don't know" Thirteen frowned as he rebutted.

"What's your name boy?!" 

"No name." Thirteen responded. "Number thirteen." 

"I'll be damned, they actually sent a numbered after me this time!" The voice from in front of Thirteen said, but the voice wasn't exactly enthusiastic but rather sounded amused as if teasing a child. 

"What was your purpose anyway?" the man in front asked rather dully. 

"Threaten Viktor Ivanov, shooting a limb or two." Thirteen responded just as dully.

"Ah, are you supposed to be telling us this?" The man in front asked sarcastically.

"The mission wasn't confidential." Thirteen replied easily with a dull expression, no longer flicking to the sturdy calloused hand that was squeezing the back of his neck. 

"Oh? Is that so. Well …" the man paused as Thirteen easily escaped the calloused hand grip that onced pinned the back of his neck, then bashing the man's head as a small sort of revenge. Before there could be a response from the gentlemanly figure in front, Thirteen caused a 'BANG' to ring in the air as he shot the man's foot, only leaving after placing a letter with an old fashioned red wax seal on it in front of the screaming gentleman. 

"Dammit." Thirteen grunted. 'Now I have to report back with a flaw in my record.' he thought. Thirteen ran a hand through his white hair, realizing that he probably shouldn't have done that because his fingers got caught in the unruly white locks. When was the last time he combed the dang mop on his head? Anyway, Thirteen had to leave to return to the base, if he stayed any longer it would really dampen his record. He was so close to leaving, he wasn't about to let such a measly thing break his chances to leave as soon as possible. 

Thirteen arrived at the base not sure if he should be disheartened about this slight mishap or not, well it depends on how "kind hearted" the staff feel about him being a bit exposed, but it wasn't his fault that the information was leaked without his knowledge, actually he was more of an innocent victim in this case. 

"Thirteen reporting." Thirteen automatically stated for it was a natural response after coming back from a mission. Thirteen was greeted by a number of staff, they walked towards him, even though thirteen wanted to run, there was nowhere to run to.

Thirteen was once again pressed down into submission, he had messed up and was not required to take punishment. His clean record was really going to go down the drain now.

"We were ordered to tell you that you have two options, one is confinement. Two is a hundred cuts. But with option two you will be temporarily recuperating in guardian." The staff in front of Thirteen robotically informed. 

"Option 2, sir." Thirteen obediently replied. Actually, for once in this lifetime something went his way, although it wasn't the most pleasant means of getting to his short term goal.

Thirteen was then dragged to the punishment room. He bit his lips and shut his eyes tight as he was strapped to the chair with metal shackles. Not long after they got him settled in, Thirteen felt the cold blade slide across his skin, slicing through his pale flesh allowing the vermillion blood to slowly seep out. The drips of hot blood slide down only to allow an echo to release as the droplet fell to the floor. Thirteen's teeth sunk deeper into his pink lips, stabbing into his own flesh as he was slowly being lacerated. The cold knife danced across his skin leaving trails of crimson, coloring him. 

Meanwhile, somewhere relatively far away, a simple looking girl with glossy black hair and thick rimmed glasses that was looking at the sky suddenly turned her head towards the right feeling as if she could hear someone's plea for the pain to stop. 

"Ten what are you looking at?" The young child softly tugging at the girl's white lab coat sleeve. Ten didn't automatically look towards the child tugging at her sleeve, she couldn't stop herself from wanting to reach the voice that continued to echo in her ears. Ten new that the echoing voice was not something some was saying out loud rather it was the cries and screams from deep within their soul. The echoes caused Ten's heart to clench, and made her want to dig out her ears, the cries sound so heartbreaking that she no longer wanted to hear them because she knew that she could do nothing to ease their pain.
