"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is based on the first book of the best-selling Swedish novel "Millennium" trilogy, which tells the story of Mikael, a journalist with a sense of justice, and Lisbeth Salander, a young female hacker who becomes involved in a murder investigation that took place more than a decade ago. He has been threatened with death for many years because of his longstanding commitment to exposing the misdeeds of far-right organizations in Sweden.

The Mikael in the original novel, who actively defends social justice and does not seek personal fame and fortune, also faces troubles in his private life, yet never relents in the critical moment of executing justice, which can be said to concentrate all of Stieg's dreams and persistence.

Stig began writing the Millennium series in 2001 and finished it in 2004. Unfortunately, he died of a heart attack in November of the same year, too late to see the publication of his series, and even too late to see the frenzy of reading this set of novels in Europe.
