Ren couldn't be bothered in thinking anymore so he randomly chose. Ren started to use the new form of the summoning spell he invented awhile ago. Ren increased the output of his mana beyond what his current level was capable of controlling. 'I hope this works' Ren didn't care that failure to do this spell correctly, might have some serious repercussions, he was just excited to be using a new spell that was not given to him by the system. 

Ren raised his two hands and grab two orbs of light. Michael who was watching at the side saw what Ren was trying to do and was shocked. He already explained to Ren that the summoning spell could only allow one summon, trying to take more than that might damage or even kill the user. Yet when Michael saw Ren holding two orbs of light with that ferocious grin of his, Michael grew excited as well. If its him nothing seems impossible, that's what Michael thought as Ren started to say the words of contract. 

"I call upon the other halves of my soul! Listen to the roar of my mana and come! Hear the cry of my soul and reach for it! The other halves of my soul come to me and complete me!" The two orbs of light Ren was holding were shining brighter. The two orbs looked like there about to explode. From beyond the light two voices responded to Ren's call at the exact same time. 

"I respond to the summons of the other half of my soul. I shall take your mana and blend it into mine as we are now one body, soul, and mind." 

"Will you tread the path I tread?!" Ren questioned and the two summoned beings answered.

"I will tread the same path as thee until my very existence evaporates into nothingness!" 

"Will you go on and deny destiny as I have?!" This was an extra question that was not part of the original summoning spell contract, but it was a part Ren added in his revision of the spell. 

"I who stood as the strongest laugh at destiny, I shall bend it, and crush it with my will!" The two responded in similar manners. The answer was not scripted but the two summoned beings answered the exact same thing without any hesitation. Since the two were the strongest in their respective timelines and dimensions they had the right to say such arrogant words.

"Then come to me and walk the same path as me. Walk the overwhelming path I tread!"  Ren threw the two orbs of light onto the ground. He then touch the ground where the summoning circle was formed. 

Two bursts of mana came forth, from the orbs of light. The mana the two were releasing was unlike anything Ren felt before. This was the strength of the strongest, but what Ren seeks was a strength beyond the strongest, so at some point he will reach the same strength but his journey will not end there. He who was chosen by the system needs to stand atop all of the strongest and become the most overpowered of them all. Only then can he face the enemy that was trying to corrupt him. 

The two orbs of light started to take shape, the first to form was a little girl wearing thin clothes covering only the important parts of her body, and a tiny portion of her body was covered with scales. She looked at Ren with her blood red eyes and did a peace sign. "Thanks for summoning me master. Vampiric Dragon super Idol Lilith has appeared, YAY!" 

The next orb took form as well. The one who took form was a man who seem like he was weary from fighting numerous battles. He stood there with his red cloak fluttering in the night wind. His eyes were the same as Ren's one gold and one green, he was a head taller than Ren and had a better built. At first when Ren saw the hill of swords he thought it was Archer, but now it seems like it was someone else. Though his whole look with the brown tan and white hair combed to the back looks like Archer, even the feeling he exudes felt like Archer, but somehow Ren was sure that this person was different. 

"Thank you for summoning me Master... I will abide to your commands and will offer advise in battle if needed. For now you can call me Kohaku" Kohaku informed Ren of his future actions as concisely as he could. 

Lilith hearing Kohaku and observing his tight ass looking face made her feel a bit irritated. "Hey you! The other one summoned by Master, why do you sound so dreary lighten up a bit. There is noway anything in this world is stronger than the two of us. So let's just take things in a more chill manner okay." Lilith tried to show Kohaku the brightest idol smile she could muster, but this couldn't affect Kohaku, as he sighed. 

"We are the strongest for now, but not after this." When Kohaku said those lines, green chains suddenly appeared from the ground and bound the two summoned beings. Ren who saw all this couldn't understand what was happening, did his summoning failed?

Lilith tried to escape but even releasing her full power did nothing. Kohaku on the other hand just took the chains and calmly waited. After awhile the chains started to fuse with Lilith and Kohaku's skin. The chains merged woth the two summoned being and bound their very souls. 

Once all of this was done Lilith screamed. "What happened?! Why can't I feel my power flowing?!" Ren tried to sense Lilith's mana and was surprised at what he felt, Lilith's mana has been reduced to around five percent of her full power.

Lilith glared at the silent Kohaku, even Ren looked at Kohaku waiting for an answer. It seems like Kohaku knew something so the two waited for him to explain. Kohaku noticing the gazes of the two sighed. "The two of us have been sealed by the Sovereign God of this universe." 

When Lilith heard the words Sovereign God her eyes widened in surprise. "This universe has a Sovereign God! What's so special about this universe that one of those beings is actually staying here?" 

Ren was confused at the conversation of the two what was a Sovereign God? Ren was about to ask Kohaku what a Sovereign God was, but before he could do so another summoning orb of light was taking form. 

"Huh? How can this be I'm pretty sure I only tried to summon two of you?" Lilith and Ren looked surprised but even this situation couldn't faze Kohaku, it was as if he knew what was about to happen.

The group had finally reached the border of the summoning ring. They could tell because right behind them was the usual forest with different types of trees all drenched in all the seven colors of the rainbow.
Lilith wondered if the reason the forest looked like that was because the process of summoning monsters from all over the world also resulted in many trees also being summoned by accident. If she looked around she could recognize some of the trees from both her hometown and from the city of emerald dawn.
If that was the case, she wondered if in a couple of months the place would look completely different from summoning a new batch of monsters and trees.
When she looked in front of her, however, all the trees looked the same and all were colored in a united tone of blue, almost as if the forest was somehow reflecting the sky.
"So I guess this is the memory ring?" Marcus wondered.
"Indeed... We all better get ready..." Detra mentioned.
"Whatever it is that we face, I can handle it!" Ellie declared.
"No! Not this time!" Detra told. She noticed that the young girl was confused by that statement and tried to explain her sentiment, "Fighting dumb monsters and fighting actual people are two different things. You saw how dangerous the rats became after they started to attack while using their brains. Beasts tend to just fight on pure instinct, but actual people will fight using their heads... You need to be extra careful this time!"
"I... I see..."
Detra looked at the group and tried to come up with a formation.
"Sword-lady, you will move on front. Use your future sight to keep us alert of any possible opponent that will show up that could try to launch a surprise attack on us."
"Fine by me..." Lilith stated, despite not being happy with being ordered by Detra.
"Marcus, you stay behind us. If We get attacked by any angle you need to use your speed and metal to protect our backs."
Marcus just nodded in silence. He still didn't want to talk with his mother any more than necessary.
"Young miss, you will be by my side while we stay in the middle. Once we safely get a good idea of who our opponent will be, I will give you instructions on how to properly engage with them."
"Understood!!" Ellie responded happily, showing that she was glad she would still be able to fight more and gain more experience.
"Very well... It seems like we are all set to go" Detra reported.
The group assumed their positions. Lilith was relieved that she would be able to fight again. She was really not comfortable leaving everything to Ellie. Marcus wasn't having a lot of fun having to stare at his mother right in front of him so much but he tried to maintain his focus on Ellie and tried to keep her safe.
Ellie was just moving like a dog that had its ears standing up trying to hear some noise. She was constantly looking around, trying to guess where the opponents would show up from.
Detra was sweating a little bit. She was honestly worried if they should have faced a few more monsters before stepping into this ring. Ellie was definitely stronger right now, but was she strong enough? Although, they only had six days left and this day was almost over already by the sight of the sun slowly setting.
If they managed to get over the ring of memories today, and dealt with the ring of fear tomorrow, they would reach the ring of time with days to spare.
Lilith suddenly halted her movement and raised her fist to signal the team to do the same.
"Someone is coming!" she whispered.
The group assumed battle positions. Marcus created a pair of blades, Ellie turned on her mirrored future sight and Lilith assumed her samurai stance.
"How many? How well armed are they?" Detra asked.
"Five knights... Two mages... The knights are fully armored and each carries a sword... One is carrying a shield as well, probably the leader... The mages appear to be healers."
"Very well..." Detra mumbled while indecently starting to devise her plan.
"I can take them..." Lilith added.
"And what good would that do?? We need the young miss to fight remember??"
"But there are seven of them! This could be dangerous!"
"That's the point, genius!! I want her to be able to handle dangerous situations! Now shut up and let me think!"
Lilith became irritated but she kept holding her position. The group started to become tense with the situation, waiting for the memory warriors to appear at any second. Detra then showed that she had finally finished her planning.
"Ok, this is how we will do this... Marcus, you will use your speed and take down the mages so that they won't be able to help their teammates. Young miss, I need you to make a wall of diamonds that will split the group into three the second the mages fall down. The swordswoman will take two of the small ones, and Marcus will take the other two. You will handle the shield leader, got it?"
"Got it!" x3
The three of them were pleased with the plan. Marcus and Lilith were glad that they would be doing most of the work and keeping Ellie safe, and Ellie was glad that she would get to fight the strongest opponent.
The group finally appeared. Just as Lilith told, five warriors and two mages, all coming out of the blue-leafed bushes as if they were on a parade. They were all covered in hoodied cloaks that covered their faces. The warriors all had armor underneath their cloaks while the mages had regular clothes. One of the mages had its staff in full display while the other appeared to be hidden. One of the warriors appeared to be much shorter than the rest, which made that person stand out a bit.
"They are all just memories right...? They are not real people or anything?" Marcus asked.
"Yes! You don't have to worry about breaking your moral code or whatever..." Detra assured.
"Then I'm going all out!"
The ladies opened a path for Marcus to move past them. He rushed straight towards the two mages that were walking in the back of their team with his blade to strike them down.
As Lilith kept observing the group emerging from the shadows, her face began to lose color.
"Oh, no... MARCUS, STOP!!!!" She shouted with all her strength.
By the time she released her cry, Marcus was already inches away from the group, but the moment he tried to swing down his arm, the blade got parried by another sword.
"What!!??" Marcus gasped. His metal should be able to slash anything, and yet it still got parried somehow.
"MARCUS!! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!! I MADE A MISTAKE!!!" Lilith screamed again.
"Mistake...? What kind of... Oh..." Marcus stared at the warrior with a shield. He was the one that managed to parry his attack. Lilith assumed that the man had a sword, but what actually happened was that the man's arm was the sword.
Marcus saw the man's face and could barely speak while acting like he had seen a ghost. It was a strong-looking man with black hair tied up by a short ponytail, exactly like Marcus, and exactly like a certain person he knew.
"D- Dad...!!??"
While Marceus kept staring blankly at Marcus, one of the mages that were in the back raised a crossbow from under its cloak and aimed it at the lad.
And before anyone could react, Marcus was completely blasted by an immense release of raw magic energy that sent him flying all the way back to the summoning ring.
"You gotta be kidding me..." Detra murmured.
"Is that..." Ellie could barely believe in her eyes, "Aunt Evie!!!"
As the fifteen-year-old Evlin heard her name, she locked target onto Ellie and aimed her crossbow at her group next.
"Oh, no... MOVE!!!" Lilith shouted as the memory of Evlin tried to blast them as well.
Lilith grabbed a tight hold of Ellie and her and Detra jumped out of the way in the last second. Part of the forest had been completely decimated.
Detra, Lilith, and Ellie tried to get themselves together and figure out what to do.
"This is ridiculous!!! The moment we take two steps into the memory ring, we already come face to face with some of the worst possible opponents!!" Detra shouted.
Evlin's memory released another shot that forced Lilith and the others to dodge one more time. The moment she finished escaping the attack, she noticed two of the warriors coming at her with their blades ready to impale her.
Lilith raised her own blade to block their attack. She was wondering why their weapons stayed intact, but then she took a closer look and realized something.
"Blessed swords... These guys are using Marceus to make weapons for them!!"
The other mage that was by Evlin's side aimed his staff at Lilith and released a blast of wind magic to push her away.
The woman took the attack head-on and got knocked against a tree, severely injuring her back and causing great pain on her body.
"Lilith!!" Ellie shouted.
The girl then raised a wall of diamonds to keep the warriors away from her. They tried to slice the wall with their blades but Ellie kept making more pillars to push them back.
She kept doing so until the two reunited with their group, but suddenly, another one of the warriors jumped in and raised her hand.
She was the shortest one in that group. Her head reached all the way to the waist of Marceus.
As she touched the wall of diamonds, a small mouth started to show up in her hand and began to absorb the mirror magic Ellie was using, making her diamonds vanish completely.
"No..." Ellie gasped.
The wind mage blasted Ellie while she was distracted, and the little girl's hood was blown off, revealing a child with black hair tied up by two ponytails.
"Mia..." Ellie whispered.
Lilith raised her head and she became even paler than before. The third warrior that Detra was talking about before was the same one who caused them all to come to this forest in the first place.
Right in front of her, was a group of memory warriors whose members included the strongest blessed energy user, the strongest magic energy user, and the strongest cursed energy user.
Detra just stared at the situation with hopeless eyes.
"Sure, why not..."


Evlin was having quite the odd day. 

One moment, she was returning from school and making her way home, next thing she knows, she is standing in a wide room surrounded by knights and a young prince who keeps talking about how he will make her his queen. 

Her reaction? 

Steal the staff from one of his mages and use it to run as far away as possible!

The rest of them had basically the same flabbergasted reaction as Lolander, accompanied with a hint of fear. Yes, fear. With the spirit chains, they could very easily recognize each other's mental states. The fear was especially present in Chloe and Lolander. 
Xiao Lin was very curious. He did not understand why that name caused such a big reaction in them. He very quickly heard Lolander attempting to flatter the woman by saying, "I want to apologize for my joke earlier. Please rest assured, Xiao Lin might be our temporary colleague, but if he had done anything to offend you, I wouldn't let him off easily."
Lilith narrowed her eyes at him. "You're from the Sainte Académie?"
Lolander hurriedly nodded, adding, "That's right. I was fortunate enough to be able to witness that simulated battle at the start of the year. You savagely beat up all the participants from our academy. Ah no, I should say you beat all your opponents in the tournament. 
Xiao Lin raised his eyebrows. He did not know Lilith, but he had some impression of the Demon Queen moniker. Before he left, the student union president did mention that a student managed to achieve an S-rank evaluation in the Sunset Canyon exam before, and that person was from Judge Academy and known to outsiders as the Demon Queen.
He was planning on looking for the Demon Queen to find out how she managed to get an S-ranked evaluation in the exams, but both the Bella incident and the stone plates had left Xiao Lin without much time to himself in New Washington, so he forgot about it. Never would he have expected the other party to look for him herself. 
Xiao Lin rubbed his temples, not believing his eyes. In his mind, the Demon Queen was an immensely powerful, vicious and savage person, massive and muscular. It was hard to consolidate that image with the beautiful woman in front of him. He smiled bitterly as he shook his head, thinking to himself that he should be strengthening his mental fortitude.
Even though he was still confused, Xiao Lin stood up and offered his hand to the other party, saying, "That's right, I'm Xiao Lin from the Dawn Academy. I've long heard of the Demon Queen, so I'm very happy to meet you."
Lilith gave him a very warm and tender smile, but her next words shocked everyone present. She did not shake Xiao Lin's hand, but instead pointed at him with her finger as she spiritedly declared, "I heard you're very strong! Wanna duel?!"
Xiao Lin's hand hung in the air. His face wore a strange expression as he began to suspect he was hard of hearing, or maybe that the woman was not that proficient in Mandarin, and so misspoke. 
However, Lilith's next words shattered his hopes; the woman's gaze was intense as she said, "I heard you were a summoner capable of summoning a giant golden dragon. I've never fought with a summoner of your caliber before. I think it would be very interesting!"
"Hold on! Hold on for just a minute!" He saw that Lilith somehow already unsheathed two daggers, and Xiao Lin frantically waved his hands, "There's a misunderstanding here! Summoner? Please, I don't even know any summoning spells. How could I be a summoner!" 
Lilith tilted her head with a confused expression, "Are you telling me that the giant golden dragon that appeared above New Washington a few days ago wasn't summoned by you?"
"Well, I guess it was…" Xiao Lin thought for a moment, and even though it was not by his own volition, the dragon really was summoned from the Lightstream Jade that he had with him. 
After saying that, Lolander and the others looked at him differently. Everyone at least knew a little about the chaos that happened in New Washington that day, but none of them could possibly have linked the dragon with a new student who had just enrolled. 
Lilith impatiently said, "Then that's that, quit dilly dallying. You must be very strong if you could defeat the commander of the dragon-eagle knights. Don't worry, I won't go easy on you!" 
The woman's bloodthirst made Xiao Lin break out in cold sweat. He immediately retreated a few steps, distancing himself from the woman. "Let me finish! I used some other method to summon the dragon, but what do you mean defeat Commander Harry? That's just a false rumor!"
Lilith tilted her head again. "But everyone says so."
Even Xiao Lin himself did not know of the rumors that had been spreading within the city the past few days. The initial version was that a young man from the Dawn Academy had summoned a giant golden dragon, then after two days, he turned into an immensely powerful summoner from the Dawn Academy, and then it morphed into that summoner from Dawn Academy had summoned the dragon to fight the dragon-eagle knight regiment, defeating Commander Harry."
Xiao Lin was not familiar with Lilith, but Lolander's expressions and the words from the student union president assured him that the woman who was called the Demon Queen was definitely not someone he could match at his current level. 
After that, Xiao Lin spent all his energy and spit in explaining the situation. With that, on top of Chloe and the others vouching for his status as a new student, they finally managed to persuade Lilith. However, the woman did not give up, pointing her dagger at Xiao Lin, "However, it's true that you can summon a giant golden dragon. I've always wanted the chance to fight with an actual dragon. Summon it! I won't fight you, but surely I can fight your illusory dragon!"
Xiao Lin felt that he had wasted all his time explaining. He did not know if Lilith was clueless or fearless for daring to fight a giant golden dragon alone. 
The Lightstream Jade had limited uses, and he did not know how much draconic power was left inside. Every time he used it would mean one less use out, so he did not dare waste it. Furthermore, if he really did summon it again in New Washington, who knew what sort of reaction would come from the Americans. Moreover, if he really let Lilith duel the dragon, his head would be on the chopping block if anything were to happen to her. 
No matter how he thought about it, Xiao Lin could only stubbornly refuse the suggestion. 
Lilith's white face was full of rage, but Xiao Lin was relieved that the woman did not seem to know of the Lightstream Jade's defense mechanism.
The incident quickly attracted Professor Brown to run over, but Xiao Lin strangely noted that Professor Brown did not seem to have much influence over Lilith. It was only until the girl who used the spirit chains got there when Lilith finally agreed to let it drop. 
However, before she left, Lilith calmly told Xiao Lin she would not give up. 
The incident was finally over, and Xiao Lin did not pay it much mind until he noticed Lolander looking at him with a pitiful expression. When he asked, Lolander shook his head and sighed. "Didn't you hear her say she wouldn't give up? It's all over for you…"

When David woke up, it was like a gasp for breath. It was strange really, because he had felt himself waking up, and due to a sudden fear of paralysis or you could say an uncertain future of not being able to move, he shot up quickly from his sleeping position in a bid to prove to himself that he still had control over his body. 

"Did you have a nightmare?"

He heard Lilith ask with a tone of voice that sent a wave of warmth through him. Of course David did not have a nightmare, but how could he tell her that he moved that way because he was scared his body was still weak. 

"Um yes I had a nightmare, a very terrible nightmare. It was so,  so scary I was afraid I couldn't move."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

David blinked his eyes, and looked at Lilith closely. Then he secretly pinched himself to make sure he was not sleeping. Lilith was not the sharing type, they had been in positions where they had to bare their emotions to each other, but that was not her default setting. This woman was built like a vault, all of her emotions were kept in a water tight and airtight environment. So it was weird that she wanted to talk about his nightmares. 

"I rather not, it was a really scary dream."

"Are you sure, talking to someone might help you get over it."

"Um no, I'm fine. It's okay."

"Alright then, 'sigh' it seems like you're back to normal,  which is good. We're clearing out the tunnel with the undead. Minerva has gone ahead to scout out the other tunnels. So get some breakfast and put your game face on."

David nodded and got to his feet. He moved his body left, then right. He squatted down a few times, then did about a dozen push ups for good measure. Then he placed his hands on Vidi who was sleeping close by, he was able to get through to his feelings of hunger and horses. Wait what?,  David looked perplexed at the thought going through Vidi's head, did someone feed him a horse, or did he eat one when no body was looking. Strange. 

David could not have a bath, but at least he could wash his face, brush his teeth, and have a change of clothes since the battle suit they were given at the arena was now nothing more than rags for both him and Lilith. After he changed into new clothes, David took a deep breath, and his body suddenly became a little bit more heavier, he could move just as normal, but he felt as if there was a pressure on his skin. 
His molecular restructuring abilities seem to be functioning fine, along with his guns and battle blades, it seems everything was okay. 

"Everything seems to be fine with you, except of course your left eye."

David was horrified almost immediately when he heard those words from Lilith who was leaning against the tunnel wall in a nonchalant pose. 

"What happened to my eye?"

"It's blue."

"Huh"

None of them had a mirror of any sort with them, so the only thing David could use to check his reflection was the pair of silver daggers he has not had a chance to use yet. And just like she said his eyes were blue, and not the blue that was normal and could be seen on normal people, it was a deep and dark blue that made his eye seem so eerie and scary. 

He saw just as normally as he did, so which meant his eye color should he nothing more than just a reaction from when Veni was able to expel Ahmevid's mind controlling parasite from his body. 
David recovered from it very quickly as he prepared for what could be said to be a dungeon dive, fascinating.

 As soon as he was done David got on his hover bike and followed right behind Lilith as they got to the place where the tunnel branches into six different directions. Minerva was there was waiting for them, though she did not seem to have been waiting long. David moved his gaze to the first tunnel to the left and could not help but shiver at the thought of mass of corpses waiting for him at the end of that tunnel. 

"It's good to see you're okay David. You're okay right?"

"Yes Minerva I'm fine."

"Cool."

And then they all lapsed into an awkward silence, it was suffocating really, and even more so when David had no idea what was causing it. He was sure it did not have anything to do with pseudo declaration of love last night, that did not count considering Minerva had to be the mouthpiece for both Lilith and himself, but even then that should not warrant this suddenly thick atmosphere of an awkward awkwardness (that doesn't even sound right). 

David was about to say something like 'why did the chicken cross the street' or 'knock knock, who's there' just so that he could be saved from this situation he now found himself in. But thankfully Minerva saved the day, again. 

"So the tunnels are actually a puzzle of sorts, at least that's what I think."

David was glad for the save, and so he hurriedly grasped onto it. 

"What do you mean?"

"Well all six tunnels have different types of undead, and each of them from a different circle of necromancy spells. None of them are biologically made, so we can rule out any sort of virus, and over the entrance of the tunnels if you look hard enough, you will see series of wards and boundary circles etched onto them. 

I'm not really conversant with wards since that's a branch of magic that's almost extinct. So I can't identify them, but I think their effects is to keep the magic of the undead contained within each individual tunnels. Which is why those undeads have been in the tunnels instead of roaming around the main tunnel we came from. Those wards keep them contained."

It was quite a lot of information to digest, but the very idea that each of these tunnels had scores of undead within their confines sent an eerie chill down David's spine. He really did not relish the thought of facing anymore dead body. 

"You said the tunnels are a puzzle, how?"

Lilith asked with that look in her eyes, that spoke of how much she was currently concentrating and analyzing their current situation. 

"From the first tunnel there's the first circle necromancer spell create Zombie, the second tunnel has the summon skeleton soldiers, which included and are not limited to archers, pike men, and ordinary cavalry soldiers with swords. The third tunnel is quite tricky since it's filled with skeleton mages, summoning them can't  be exactly considered a third circle spell, but it's to strong to be a second circle spell. So its stuck between the second circle and the third circle. 

The fourth tunnel is filled to the brim with draugrs, those leather skinned dead guys are faster, stronger,  and smarter than your average zombie. They are also more durable than the skeletons and require a lot of Mana to control, hence why they're fourth circle spells. Their claws and teeth are poisoned, one scratch or bite from them, and you will become a zombie in under six hours if you don't receive the proper treatment on time. So I'm not really relishing the idea of fighting those things.

 Tunnel number five is huge, like humongous, which makes it ironic because there are only five undead knights and their massive horses in there. I have no idea how to deal with those guys or what they're capable off, my memories about fifth circle necromancer spells are somewhat sketchy. And the final tunnel has one undead from the sixth circle necromancer spell, and it's the most dangerous. Lily, I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about."

David turned to look at Lilith who had her hand between her brows and had her eyes closed. She massaged her forehead with her fingers looking as if she had a headache, before she let out a whisper that would not have been heard in the tunnels were not so silent. 

"A wraith."

David could not help the shudder that went through his body. Necromancer's were a known scourge on Pangea, they were feared and hated above any magical class that existed. And it was mostly because of a host of rather sinister spells and their love for the dead. One of those spells, was the creation, nurturing and summoning of a wraith. 

Contrary to popular beliefs, not all necromancy undead spells ate about summoning. The first circle spell create Zombie was used on dead bodies, it needed a physical material to work, and corpses of dead people were more than enough. However the wraith spell is by far the most sinister spell to have ever existed on Pangea. For a wraith to be made, the necromancer had to torture, break and twist the mind of a pure soul. 

So what they did was steal young kids from the age of seven to eleven, choosing them at the part of the lives that they're not tainted or affected by the world, when they were still innocent and happy.  And then the necromancer would take months,  some years at a stretch to torture and instill deep feelings of hatred, anger, despair and vengeance. Then the child would be placed in a magic circle and sent to whatever plane of existence the necromancer was summoning his undead from. 

The process of sending that child there would mist definitely kill them, and it's not a pleasant experience as the children would be forced to feel pain the likes of which they have never experienced before. They will arrive in the plane as ghosts  and vengeful spirits. And then over a period of time, which differs from soul to soul, the children's souls or spirits will get corrupted by the energies of the plane, becoming wraiths. And then the necromancer could summon them back into his servitude. 

The exact powers of a wraith have not been properly documented, as most people who tried to do so always ended up dead. But what was know, was that wraiths are immune to physical and psionic attacks. 

The only thing that can damage them is light magic, or any sort of banishing magic. Wraiths could sick out the vitality, and souls of anybody they touch, and when they possess a person, there's a 99.99999999% chance that the person will go insane from terror, and dying not much long after. Wraiths are the omens of bad luck, and David really wanted to turn back and get the hell out of here. In that regard he had to tell this ladies that they were in too deep. 

"We can't beat a wraith Lilith."

"No we can't, but we will deal with it once we get there. If we get there." 
David opened his mouth to say something, but nothing could come out, at this point he truly emphasized the point of being stuck between the devil and the blue sea, or was it the other way around. They could not go back into the waiting fangs and claws of dozens if not hundreds of evolved monsters. Which meant the only thing they could do was go forward into the darkness and into waiting embrace of the worst of death's children. Today just seems to be all kinds of sunny, what could possibly go wrong.

I studied Lilith Porter for a moment, and once I was satisfied that she had been fully healed, I nodded. Might as well get this fight out of the way. For one thing, I was sick and tired of her chasing me, especially after three days of nonstop pursuit. Fortunately, she wasn't stupid enough to get in the way of my mission, and only chose to attack me during my downtime. I was tempted to take away her blood token, but inwardly I was waiting for her to fully heal up so that we could have a proper fight.
One of my objectives was to evaluate Lilith's strength and see how I could measure up against someone of her stature. There was no doubt she would be a fierce opponent and a huge threat to our title challenge, so I preferred to fight her at full strength and see what kind of techniques and spells she could pull out.
"You're finally going to fight me?" Lilith was staring at me, astonished. The entire time, she had been too impatient, trying to take me out and grab my blood token before she had fully recovered, but I refused to fight her properly the entire time, for the reasons I mentioned above. So she was taken aback by my sudden 180 degree reversal.
"Yup. That's what you want, right?"
"…"
Lilith regarded me suspiciously, a frown furrowing her brow. I shrugged.
"Hey, you're the one who said that you've fully recovered."
"…right. I did. So that's what you were waiting for this entire time. I did find it strange you didn't just defeat me and take away my blood token even though you had so many opportunities to do so." Lilith folded her arms, despite still holding on to her crimson sword. "I guess I should thank you for granting me the honor of a proper duel."
"Yeah. Let's begin."
We chose a clearing as our site of battle. We were aware that there were quite a few spectators who were hidden, and when I glanced at them, Lilith waved dismissively.
"They won't attack us even if we do end up hurting each other. I have friends in there."
"Your schoolmates…your team from Vermillion Academy."
"That's right." She scowled. "They even have the audacity to record this battle. Well, not that I care." She punched both of her fists together before drawing her sword. "As long as I get to fight with you, I'm satisfied. Daddy has always been telling me about you, Uncle Shun Yin's adopted son, and I have always looked forward to fighting you."
In contrast, Dad and Uncle Glen never mentioned anything about Lilith. Well, actually Uncle Glen did mention his daughter a couple of times in an attempt to hook me up with her, but Dad and I never took him seriously and ignored him. Besides, Lilith seemed more interested in fighting than in developing any sort of relationship.
That was fine with me.
"Hmm…" Lilith observed me for a moment as she adopted a combative stance. "Not going to draw your swords?"
"Not yet," I replied. My beautiful opponent nodded.
"It's rare for me to fight someone who is proficient in martial arts. I heard from Daddy that your father trained you in martial arts. Wing Chun, was it?"
"Yeah." I glanced at her left arm. Unlike her right hand, which was gripping her sword, it was bare. "It's nothing impressive, though. I was never a good student and had no talent in martial arts."
"We'll see about that." Lilith followed my line of sight and glanced at her arm before scoffing. "What, were you expecting me to use a small one-handed shield? Are you mistaking me for somebody? I'm a swordswoman first and foremost."
"So Uncle Glen didn't teach you martial arts?"
"Daddy doesn't know any martial arts! He's a summoner, just like you and me!" Lilith smiled as she held her crimson sword in both hands in anticipation. "Well, let's fight without any regrets!"
"All right, Miss Lilith. I hope you'll give me some pointers."
The both of us charged at each other, kicking off the ground and producing double sonic booms that thundered in opposite directions. We clashed in the middle of the clearing, with me summoning Aquarius in the middle of the charge and swinging the blue broadsword at her. Fire collided with water, which immediately vaporized into steam.
"…"
Huffing, I found myself shoved back by Lilith's greater strength. Embers rained down on me, boiling the protective cloud of water that now permeated my figure, but I swung Aquarius down to unleash a tidal wave at pointblank range.
Lilith determinedly swung her own crimson sword down and unleashed a torrent of hellfire that boiled the mini tsunami into steam. Both of us stumbled backward, our vision obscured by the white fog that expanded across the clearing.
Fortunately, my glasses adjusted, my lenses displaying Lilith's mana signature and allowing me to pinpoint her location within the boiling steam. I dove to the side, avoiding another stream of flames that burned a hole through the steam, and then flanked her, swinging Aquarius toward her supposedly vulnerable back.
Flames erupted and blazed along the length of Lilith's blade and she spun around to instinctively parry Aquarius. Digging her heels into the ground, Lilith intensified the hellfire that wreathed her sword and cleaved through the blue broadsword. My huge Constellation weapon dissipated into wisps of mana as both broken pieces ceased to exist in this dimension.
"Hah!"
Almost triumphantly, Lilith closed in and tried to cut me in half with her flaming sword. I withdrew nimbly, using my martial arts training to evade as best as I could. Ducking under her sword, I kicked out below (also to ensure I didn't lose my leg, so I didn't recklessly try a high kick) to force her back. Lilith grunted as she staggered from my blow, but she managed to bring down her flaming sword, which I avoided by stepping to the side.
I could still feel the scalding heat from her blazing blade, but I seized the opportunity while her sword was down to punch her from the side of her head. Lilith kept her grasp on the hilt of her sword with one hand while letting go of it with the other and parried my fist. She tried to bring her sword back up, but I stepped onto it, my shoe insulating my foot from the flames and then rammed a knee into her chest. She coughed and staggered backward, but before she could bring up her sword, I spun around and threw a kick into the side of her face.
"!!!"
Lilith just barely blocked it with her arm, but she was knocked over. With a curse, she completed the casting of her spell and a fireball erupted from her sword and hurtled toward me. I adjusted my trajectory in midair, twisting around to avoid it, and dropped to the ground. The fireball swerved past me and slammed into a tree behind, immolating it.
One of the students who was watching the match yelped and jumped out of the burning tree, desperately beating out the flames. A spectator, huh? Well, I couldn't care less about him. Instead, I focused on the opponent before me. Pushing my glasses up my nose, I studied Lilith while taking note of the spikes in her mana signatures as displayed by the energy readings etched into the lenses of my glasses.
That was an indication of some big spell.
An inferno erupted from Lilith's sword and she got ready to blast me with the flames. I kept my distance, but didn't move from my position. Instead, my right hand fell into the hilt of my still sheathed Gan Jiang.
"?!"
Lilith instinctively sensed the danger, but it was almost too late. A sharp arc of energy lanced toward her like a deadly crescent moon, and she was forced to parry it with her sword. Blood dripped from her arms as she skidded several meters backward, trembling from the ferocious blow.
"That's…"
Her eyes widened when she noticed that Gan Jiang was back in its sheath. She shook her head, impressed, and sighed.
"That iai, isn't that Miyamoto sword style? You learn that from your dad too, I presume?"
"That's correct," I confirmed. So Uncle Glen did tell his daughter about the techniques Dad learned when he was younger.
"That was dangerous. But I won't give you another chance to use it!"
Flames exploded around Lilith's feet as she lunged at me, swinging her sword and unleashing yet another devastating torrent of fire. I was forced to draw both Gan Jiang and Mo Ye this time, parrying her blast. Around us, grass and trees wilted from the heat or combusted spontaneously from the flames. Even I found myself gradually worn down by the sheer power of the flames despite the protective mana aura cast around me.
"Hu…"
I traded several more blows with Lilith, finding myself gradually driven back and overwhelmed by the superheated flames. Gathering mana within myself, I completed my next summoning spell. A chibi Black Tortoise materialized over my right shoulder, and a chibi Green Dragon appeared over my left. A whirlpool of water snaked along the length of the black blade of Gan Jiang while flower petals danced around the pristine white blade of Mo Ye.
A pseudo waterfall surged out of Gan Jiang as I struggled to knock Lilith back with my sword, the tremendous pressure of my water spell canceling out the effects of her flames and actually forcing her to withdraw a step. Without pausing, I slashed Mo Ye at her, forcing her to duck because she was still preoccupied with parrying Gan Jiang with her crimson sword. The petals scored a few cuts across her skin, and the edge of Mo Ye actually cut through the yellow ribbon adorning her long hair, freeing those silky, silvery strands and allowing them to fall free over her back.
"You look better with your hair down," I told her automatically. Lilith scowled in reply and responded with a vengeful swing of her flaming sword. I crossed both blades, but despite the curtain of water nullifying the terrifying eruption of fire, I found myself thrown back several paces. Stumbling to regain my balance, I defended myself against Lilith's next flaming slash with a watery defense from Gan Jiang, and then countered with several razor-sharp petals and a thrust of Mo Ye toward her midriff. Lilith twisted away, but the keen edge of the blade still scored a cut across her waist and opened up a slit in her blouse.
"I thought you said you had no talent in martial arts?!" Lilith snapped as she slashed at me, but I easily deflected her sword. We exchanged several more blows, and I was forced back into the defensive, parrying and blocking Lilith's flaming sword.
"Yeah, I don't. You're completely overwhelming me."
That much was true. Even Lilith couldn't deny that. It was obvious that her sword techniques were superior to mine, and she was easily pushing me back. Even so, she recognized that she couldn't defeat me so easily.
"The gap between us is not that big," she said. "And you seem to be better at magic than I am."
"Thank you for the praise." As if to prove her point for her, I completed casting my next spell after knocking aside a potentially fatal thrust that would have found its way into my chest had my reflexes not been up to par.
Swinging both of my swords, I blasted her with a vortex of water, which she easily vaporized with a tremendous maelstrom of flames, but she was taken by surprise by the storm of razor-sharp petals that arrived as a follow-up.
"ARGH!"
With a shout, Lilith incinerated the cloud of razor-sharp petals. Even as the flames expanded outwardly from her body, a surge of water crashed down upon her and boiled into steam…
…for only a moment.
"?!"
Lilith's eyes widened when the inferno she conjured to defend herself from my wood spell was immediately frozen. As her hands glowed crimson with fiery mana, she smashed and melted the ice, only for the black blade of Gan Jiang to smash aside the partially melting fragments of frost and sliced toward her throat.
"…ah…"
Lilith froze for a moment, not just because of my ice spell. Perspiration ran down her face as she stared at the tip of the black blade pointing toward her throat. However, I halted my blade before it could nick her skin, and then slowly pulled it back.
"You…"
My opponent glared at me, a little ruffled by the "mercy" I had shown her.
"What's the meaning of this?"
"I don't want to win like this. We are both summoners, but you have yet to actually summon anything. Didn't we agree to fight without any regrets?"
"You're right. Forgive my disrespect." Lilith retreated for a moment, perspiration still rolling down her face. "Next, I'll summon my Soul Beast. I've to say, though, you must be really confident if you think you have the luxury of allowing me to summon my Hellfire Bear. But I will thank you for not finishing me off when you had the chance."
I smiled and shook my head.
"I also have a stake in this. I personally want to challenge your Hellfire Bear with my own Constellation spirits."
"It's coming! The Hellfire Bear!"
"Woo! The Hellfire Bear!"
From deep within the forest, I could hear spectators shouting and cheering. These must be the students of Vermillion Academy. Or perhaps Lilith Porter was so famous that almost every student in the Federation knew of her Hellfire Bear. Even I had vaguely heard about it, despite having paid almost no attention to the students of other academies and tournament battles.
I was a little…narrow-minded and self-centered, only focusing on my own matters and not caring about the world at large.
Pushing up my glasses, I grinned when the lenses detected an astronomical spike of mana, reflected in the energy readings. A sudden surge in thermal energy was forcibly ripping its way into this dimension.
"Will you find yourself cornered by this, I wonder?" Lilith murmured, almost to herself. Then she raised her hand, her sword having been abandoned. "Come here, Hellfire Bear!"
"!!"
I glanced upward and caught sight of an enormous fireball plummeting toward me, a meteorite that was at least three meters in radius. With a thunderous roar, it crashed onto the ground where I was standing, razing the entire space and engraving a scorched crater into the earth.
"Amazing! It's the Hellfire Bear!"
"Looks like that dual sword guy is going to lose!"
The spectators just refused to shut up. In any case, they were dead wrong. I had managed to leap backward and avoid getting pulverized by Lilith's summoning spell. Raising my head, I found myself staring up at the Hellfire Bear, the creature towering over six meters. Once again, that majestic, flaming mane of crimson fire, thick fur that served as armor, and massive claws the size of a desk.
Despite the intimidating sight, my grin widened.
"Let's see how much I can bear," I remarked excitedly before charging forward with both of my swords.

As Hank's soul drifted down into the depths of the demon realm he remembered his past.He was the middle child of a middle class family, with hardly any future after failing out of college. His younger sister had contracted an unknown disease with no modern medicine helping to cure it, Hank went to the divine. He prayed for anyone to help his sister and that was how he met Lilith the demon goddess of lust, corruption, and beauty. She was the only one to answer his prayers. Now he was on his way to Lilith's divine realm.

After what seemed like forever Hank in soul form arrived in front of a castle made of brimstone with gates made of obsidian with a moat of lava. Hank floated in front of the gate waiting to see what would happen. The gates slowly opened and the drawbridge lowered. "Hank my champion what are you waiting for. Come and enter my depths and gaze upon my true form." Lilith said with her alluring voice. 

Hank floated inside guards in black full plate armor lined the halls at intervals of 3 meters. The door to Lilith's throne room was blocked by two scantily clad maids. They both looked like normal humans with the exception of their dark red silky smooth skin and tail that swayed behind them. "Send him in and then leave us." Lilith ordered from behind the doors.

Like the maids out side Lilith had dark red silky smooth skin with the exception of she was not wearing any clothes. Hank looked at her starting with her d-cup breasts and preky nipples, before lowering his gaze to her nether region which to his suprise had been trimed to a heart shape. "Up here boy." Lilith coughed. 
Causing Hank to look up. "Sorry but you are the most beautiful being I have ever layed my eyes on." Hank said looking into her eyes. "You will get to taste my necter later champion but first we have to get the boring stuff out of the way." Lilith said beckoning Hank toward her throne. "Good my champion, I am going to send you to another world where you will corrupt the locals and increase my powers. In return you will be reborn as a half incubus and half race of your choosing. I will also give you a system to help you like in those novels back on Earth." Lilith said reaching out and touching Hank.

After a half hour of mind numbing pain the system notified Hank it was finished and to examine himself. Lilith reached behind her throne and handed him a mirror. "With your looks now even I am tempted to give you a taste." Lilith teased as she stroked his shaft a couple times before leaving Hank to look at the changes.

"Alright I will show you how chnnel your energy for the spells by guiding your energy with my own. Also have fun breaking this one in she worships Diana the goddess of chastity."The maid whispered as she begun channeling energy through Hank.

Just when I began to think that he might have gone back to the banquet hall via teleportation, I saw him appear from around the corner.
"He's here, go," I ordered.
The doppelganger monster stepped out into the corridor, heading towards Master Lin.
These were personally created by the Dark Cardinal of Deception so even Master Lin would have trouble recognising a fake when he's unfamiliar with the real person.
The only issue is that I have to control them myself through a partial implantation of my consciousness. 
Unlike the Cardinal, I'm not good enough to be able to control so many at once while also moving around. My limit is at one and I will need to remain still to use them, such is my limitation of not being a natural Practitioner.
I do have alternative ways to get around this, but that will be revealing my cards too early. Besides, this doppelganger is meant to be disposable.
Using the doppelganger, I did the usual act of being full of myself to antagonise him, pulling out the poisoned blade to just try and land a lucky hit on him.
Of course that fails splendidly but it was still within my expectations. The main goal was to at least incriminate him in some way to make everyone else lose trust in him.
He may be the strongest Practitioner, but if he is unable to extend his influence upon others without the usage of force, he would be seen as nothing but a tyrant.
I don't expect him to be defeated, but if this can at least isolate him for the next few days to come, it would be a win for me.
Since hitting him failed, I activated the inscription that was hidden within the doppelganger's body, creating a wind blade that sliced its neck off from the inside.
Retrieving back my consciousness, I implanted it into the next doppelganger with the body of my eldest brother. The real one is probably on his way to the banquet hall already so I need to time his arrival perfectly.
I nodded to the guards near the doppelganger, they were the people who have chosen to follow me instead of the main branch's self-destructive ways. They know what they signed up for and would give their life to the cause.
With the crown prince's fake body, I appeared in the corridor to 'discover' my murder, shouting out an alarm that will 'alert' the guards.
Once again, I engaged him in combat, trying to at least land a hit with my second poisoned blade.
Should he actually choose to kill the crown prince, I would initiate the assassination plan on the real one right away. His guards had already been replaced with those of my own recently and he shouldn't suspect a thing.
None of the fakes yet know that I know who they are, there's a reason why I've been acting like a spoiled, dumb brat all this while after all. If they had been the real ones, they would not have let me act this much of a jerk to everyone.
That was also how I confirmed Master Lin to be one of them back at the Merchant's Guild.

Master Lin should definitely be one of the higher ranking members of the main branch, maybe even a Cardinal himself which is quite surprising since the Cardinals of the main branch usually stay out of sight and avoid field work.
But if I can somehow manage to kill him here, that would be a major blow to them.
Of course, it was not that easy and I do not expect to succeed. Although it seems I was right about my suspicion that he did not want to kill unnecessarily to draw attention, thus I thought I had him cornered there with my crown prince act.
That had been naive thinking on my part.
Instead of being captured, he chose to escape in a puff of smoke and literally leave us with nothing.
At least this managed to keep him away from the palace for now, but I do not know if he will return.
With that plan absolutely screwed, I had to push forward with the next phase of the plan before he came back.

I will leave him alone for now to avoid arousing suspicion from the other Houses and just get rid of him after the reception.
That left the fake king and queen which was easily dealt with. They never suspected a thing when I went up to them with my usual stupid smile and haughty attitude, demanding them for some inane thing.
A few stabs from the back when they turned away to dismiss me was enough to permanently put them down.
At the same time, my followers would also be getting rid of the other spies we had identified over the years. Everything was planned with the utmost detail for this very day.
If today goes without a hitch, we would be able to fully devote all our resources to stopping the main branch.
They will try to summon the monster known as Lilith in this continent, believing her to be our first ancestor. Someone managed to find notes about her temple being located here and by granting her existence, she will bestow her followers with unimaginable power.

The main branch had thus incited the Dong country to invade Bei Yang during the time of her summoning. The soldiers who perish on the battlefield will be the 'willing souls' and every single member involved in her summoning will also contribute to that number.
In the end, only the upper echelons will get to taste this power.
Once I knew about such a plan, I secretly brought all those who would not want such an ending with me to break off from the main branch, forming our own secret branch here and hoping to set up a form of defense before the day of summoning.
Our time limit was however long it took for the country of Dong to excavate that damned tunnel. We tried all we can to delay it but they had already taken over Death Pass town way before the execution of their plan.
Even the King, Queen and my eldest brother had been replaced with fakes.
I had to pretend I was still one of them to continue getting the critical information needed to prepare for the eventual day, but that also meant I could not act against them too openly.
I still acted like I was true to their cause, but I knew it was a matter of time before they figured out I was the instigator for the sudden large number of deserters that day.
Over the years we tried to find every way we could to either prevent, delay or even get rid of Lilith if all else fails.
Our experimentation on a group of Wendigoes we captured showed that we could control monsters with a certain Technique. This led to the idea of forming a monster army that we could use to 'invade' the capital city to take over it and eventually giving us more freedom of movement after the fakes are killed in the chaos.
We even tried to see if we could summon Abaddon and what was named a 'Great One' just to go against Lilith.
The single parchment we found that read 'The blood of a Royal from the fairer brood shall send her back to her promised land' gave us a little hope. As much as I hated it, I ordered the experimentation on my own sister as she was the only female of Royal blood left.
That was when Master Lin came into the picture, breaking my sister out and destroying that hideout.
I gave the order for him to be assassinated during their New Year festival, but that plan was an absolute loss for us.
We somehow managed to recover the missing piece to summon Abaddon but he was instantly banished again by Master Lin.
I took heart in the fact that if Master Lin could stand up to Abaddon, then Abaddon wouldn't have stood a chance against Lilith in the first place.
But it was clear that the main branch was accelerating their plans when many of our hideouts started being torn apart, especially those that we hid in the capital's slums.
We got wind of a group that called themselves 'Master's Church' and I knew immediately they were members of the main branch that were causing it.
All of our preparations began falling apart because of them but we still managed to salvage one thing.
My sister's blood that we had spent so long in researching and experimenting on. We believe we have finally got the answer to the prophecy but we only had enough time to create one vial of it.
Everything now hinges on that one vial of blood we had, but we did not know where the summoning will take place.
That was why for this little ceremony, I had the great idea to follow Master Lin as surely, after an incident like this, he would definitely go back to the headquarters to report.
When I had the doppelganger attack Master Lin, I managed to get close enough to plant the tracking talisman on him while he was distracted.
Now all we need to do now is wait for him to lead us there.
With everything else prepared, I used the doppelganger on myself to transform into the King, then the two controlled Wendigoes will transform into the Queen and later also my eldest brother after we get rid of the fake.
It is a miracle that my second brother was still himself.
I can only hope that there won't be any more unexpected encounters later on and we can finish this without a hitch.
