Although he had been through it himself, when Kieran saw the term "Puppet of Flesh and Blood", his heart still shook. 
He knew that if it wasn't for [Lionheart] that triggered [Mardos Arm] to bring him back, he would be a dead man.
Though, Kieran unconsciously looked at his right wrist band and touched the emblem softly.
The spider emblem on it was very lively and felt real, as if the tiny spider would jump out anytime. Other than that, nothing was out of the ordinary. But the scene that Kieran witnessed before told him that [Mardos Arm] had more secrets than it showed out.
A lava river appeared just before his eyes. The place he was at was not the sulphuric hell but just a normal dungeon world! 
The almost instant kill of the seven demonic complex and the devil lord shocked Kieran beyond belief as well. 
Though not only the Hell Fiend Spider from [Mardos Arm] but [Lionheart]'s golden lion, [Primus Arm]'s colossal crocodile and [Wild Soul]'s giant rhino... every one of them seemed to have secrets within.
"If the mirages were not just some skill triggers… Soul remains? Or a cluster of convictions? Or was it some sort of mutation?" Kieran pondered the question in his heart.
He realized his understanding of the underground game was still too limited.
Kieran was in the weird "circle" that the more he knew, the more he discovered how less he knew.
If he were to put his understandings of the underground game in a circle, the inner part would be his knowledges and the outer part would be the unknown. So, the more he knew, the bigger the circle would be, but it would only produce one result.
The more he learned, the less he knew. 
While Kieran was still pondering the questions, the notifications kept coming.
[Special main mission completed…]
[Player will leave the dungeon in 10 seconds…]
[Please take whatever items you wish to keep with you.]
[Note: Any items that exceed the maximum weight will be discarded!]

"Ten seconds!?"
The sudden shortened period shocked Kieran, but he shrugged at it promptly.
The scorched land before him was absent of equipment; he didn't need to seize every second to collect loots. All he had to bring was his backpack.
Though, Kieran had another layer of understanding towards the system's vicious treatment.
"Even the returning time of five minutes could be altered? Isn't the system certain about this?"
Kieran wondered while touching his chin.
If the return time could be changed and it was not just lowered to 10 seconds, there might be possibilities that it could be lowered to 1 second or even immediate return.
This was a reminder for Kieran to not restrain himself in his own fixed thoughts, or else he himself would suffer the consequences.
Dak Dak Dak!
Just as the timer was almost up, a series of horse gallops sounded.
A white warhorse that seemed familiar appeared in Kieran's sight. It should be the white warhorse from the silver knight before the palace gate.
Kieran could recognize the horse with a glance, but the current rider?
When there were less than 2 seconds on the timer, Kieran raised his right arm and waved hard, yelling, "Goodbye!"
Then he revealed a smile since he was able to deliver his message with his own mouth.
"Hold on! I…" 
Mary who was riding the horse shouted to hold him back, but some things were destined to be inevitable.
When the timer was up, Kieran disappeared into thin air on the spot.
Just that, Mary saw was a different scene.

After the rating calculations were finished, two special items appeared in Kieran's hand.
One was the "longsword" on Mary's waist when he first met her, and the other was a book.
Kieran slightly flipped it over; the book was about the hidden sects within the dungeon [The Queen's Shield]. 
Although the books he brought back had some introductions to the various sects, but it was not as complete as the system's book.
However, it couldn't make up to its low value existence.
A plain equipment without any attributes or effects and an introduction book.
Although Kieran had a couple of experiences before this and he didn't hold any hope at the special reward, but two special rewards were of such little value. it made Kieran criticize the reward in his heart.
However, he did make one thing clear.
"Following the dungeon clear increase, more special rewards will be given, and by the looks of it, the later the items are received, the more useful it would be?" 
Kieran had to question his own guess. After getting items with little value continuously, he really dare not guarantee the next.
Though, through the dungeon clear rating calculation, Kieran noticed one point. Even if he did complete a mission with perfect clear, it would go according to his battle performance or difficulty and produce a different rating, similar to the third sub mission [Breakthrough] and fourth sub mission [Protect the king] in [The Queen's Shield].
"Maybe because of the continuous mission as well?" Kieran added in that point.
Then, Kieran went on to arrange the books that he brought back and listed out the "Damaged" items. When he was ready to contact Blacksmith for repairs, his message tab pinged.
However, the sender was a stranger named Allen.


Welcome to a virtual underground game with no protection, full of lurking players who seek survival, power, and fortune. Kieran chose to enter this VRMMORPG game without hesitation, because he knew this was the only way for him to escape death’s grasp. Can he escape death in real life though, or will he end up dying inside the game? 

As he moved towards the fortress it became bigger and bigger. When he was around 500 meters away from it he could see its wall was made from tree logs which were around five meters high. On the side he was on there was no entrance but he could see some people move in the guard towers that were randomly distributed on the walls and were around two meters higher than the wall itself. 

He closed in but there was no entrance in sight so he chose to go around it. The guards were eyeing him with long range weapons pointed at him resembling a crossbow. Coming halfway to the other side he could see some tents in front of it and as he got closer he could finally see an entrance. 

Suddenly Jinx interrupted him.

"Good news Wei. Your interaction with the bulls is trending and it has reached the top 1,000,000,000 best new videos of this week. Someone even awarded you 50 karma points." 

"Top 1 billion this week. How bloody many participants do you have? Wait a minute you said karma points, what can I do with them?"

"More than you can imagine. You can buy me a higher rating," Jinx replied rather sheepishly.

Wei frowned and asked: "Why should I do that?"  

"With a higher rating I can do more things for you. It is good for you to have a higher rated AI." Jinx nervously replied. 

"Things like what?" 

"I can let you see your stats and special conditions," Jinx exclaimed.   

"You mean like in games?"

"Yes. Like in your world's video games." Jinx happily replied.

"Not interested."

"But, but it will be good for you if you know what you need to raise." Jinx replied with exasperation. 

"Not interested."

Jinx thought about it and thought of another benefit. "I can even send you home for 24 hours after a month here with the higher authority."
Wei frowned and then replied: "You could have started with that."

"Oh. So can I buy the E rating authority for 50 karma points?" 
Jinx asked in nervous excitement. 

"Yes. Buy it." 
Wei replied while shaking his head. 

"So a month here before I can go home?" 

"Yes. 30 Earth days to be exact but you only get to stay for 24 hours," Jinx replied.

"So what can a D grade authority get me and how much is it?"

"48 hours every 14 Earth days for 500 karma points," Jinx replied with elation as if he could already see his rating going up in the future. 

Wei stood in place for a minute. 

"What about C grade?"

"72 hours every Earth week for just 5000 karma points," Jinx replied as if it were an enthusiastic  salesman.

Wei frowned. 

"I can see where this is going… The cost is raised by 10 times while the duration is raised less and less after every upgrade." 

Jinx was scared as Wei put it that way and tried to remedy the feeling Wei was experiencing of being used even though Wei was correct. 
"Yes but you get many perks along with the vacation time. Karma shop. Quest system. Fast learning." 

Wei frowned before he exclaimed,
"So basically with a higher authority I get to unlock more pay to play opportunities? I hate playing pay to play games!"

"But it's just karma points. You have nowhere to spend them on anyway, so why not spend them to make your life easier?" Jinx tried to explain his logic. 

"I guess you are right. We will talk more when I get more karma points…, " Wei said as he saw people from the tent were giving him weird looks as he was talking to himself. 

To outsiders he probably looked as if he lost his mind. 

He could see people cooking and sitting outside their tents dressed in shabby clothes that looked like they were made from linen. Every now and then he could see a person having a bow on his shoulder or a weapon strapped to his waist. 

As he got closer he could see the people nearest were getting increasingly more nervous and wary of his actions so he gave them a universally acknowledged sign of peace. He raised his empty hands at them and stopped walking when he was 50 meters away from them.

After a while they got back to what they were doing before he came close and ignored him. 

He walked closer and waved at the first person. 

The person looked at him funny and said some incomprehensible words.

Jinx quickly replied.
"He is asking where did you come from?"    

'How do I reply?' 
Wei just thought in his head. 

"You can give me authorization to use your voice muscles and I will change your words to their language and also your ears if you want to understand what they say," Jinx replied.  

'You can hear my thoughts? Since when?' Wei asked

"Since I have been upgraded." 

Wei frowned.
'Hmmm. Can you use my voice and can you fake what I hear if I give you authorization?' 

"Theoretically I could if I had the authorization to do that but that would go against my program so it is impossible in practice," Jinx replied. 

'Authorization for voice and hearing granted,' Wei replied after frowning for a couple of seconds and accepting the fact he had no other practical means of communicating with the natives.

"Hello. I am Wei and I came from the edge of the desert." Wei replied to the now obviously impatient stranger who he left hanging by not answering for more than a minute. 

"Why would you go to the desert?" 

"I don't know?" Wei replied. 
"What do you mean by you don't know? Did you lose your memories or something? Were you in the sun for too long?" The man asked. 

"Probably I don't know. All I know is my name," Wei replied, shrugging his shoulders. 

The man sighed and then looked at the weird clothes on Wei. He was wearing a white T-Shirt with a black swish logo and blue jeans and a pair of sneakers. 

"Are you thirsty? Here, have some water first. My name is Jeun Tib. You can call me old Tib." 

Wei gladly accepted an animal skin filled with water and took a sip after thanking the man.  

"What kind of shoes are those?" 
Old Tib asked as he pointed to the sneakers. 

"I don't know but they are comfortable," Wei replied. 

Old Tib smiled then laughed.
"Is there anything that you do know?"

What if you get a system by an accident?
What if you don't RTFM? 
What if you select maximum difficulty?
What if your helper is almost as miserable as yourself?

Three pieces of shards floated into the sky, their light weak as they merged into one amidst the humming of the old man. Soon, it was restored to its original form; a brilliant blade of shining radiance.
"It worked..."
Deckard Cain's face wore a complicated expression as he looked at this word. He turned sideways and looked at the completely hooded and covered stranger.
"Come, take your sword. I know who you are... Stranger, it's time for you to remember everything."
"I can feel it... The sword calls for me..."
The stranger mumbled to himself as he reached for the blade. Following this, his eyes lit up in a flash!
"I remember... All of it! I am Tyrael, I used to be an angel...."
"Yes, Tyrael."
Hearing Tyrael's words, Deckard nodded happily.
"You've finally remembered who you are. Now we have more strength to spare against the dark forces... And you, young man."
He looked at Fang Zheng, who stood beside him as well.
"Thanks to you, we were able to find the three shards and not only that, but you've also slain the lapdog of evil, Maghda..."
"Don't mention it. It's what I'm supposed to do."
Hearing Deckard's thanks, Fang Zheng forced a bitter smile. He'd found the shards and Deckard had completed the sword, not dying in the process. The third mission of his was done. Yet, looking at what the system was showing him... He had only three more uses of the Arthas Soulstone, and that really didn't please him at all.
He was still too weak!
In Fang Zheng's considerations, the Soulstone activation was his trump card and was something he had planned on using when fighting the top demons like Belial and Mephisto, or the strongest legends of the main world. What he didn't expect was that he'd be forced to use one of the charges when facing Maghda!
What the hell even was Maghda, she was some small-time boss of the second act's first level! And yet he was forced to use his ultimate!
It was like using a sword on a chicken!
What troubled him, even more, was the fact that he'd die to this chicken unless he did use that sword!
He was too weak!
That moment, Fang Zheng understood first hand just how powerless he was. If he was in the original world he'd went to, then, using his abilities, he could still have an easy time... But here, in the main world, all the people with supernatural powers were able to easily threaten his life.
He needed to get stronger.
Fang Zheng made his decision. If he didn't get stronger, what would he do? Rely on using his ultimate every time?
There weren't many times left!
When the Soulstones were exhausted, would he just lay there and wait to die?
What gave him some consolation, however, was the fact that he'd completed the missions 'Curse of Frostmourne' and 'Guardian' upon killing Maghda.
The Curse of Frostmourne was completed when Fang Zheng turned into the Lich King and butchered Maghda and the cultists. The souls were more than enough for that, though he wondered if Frostmourne gave him less points because he swung it around all day using divine power. Even when Fang Zheng had exceeded the mission completion requirements, he only got a double reward. So be it. In simple words, Frostmourne only raised his Crusader's Strike from C-class to A-class, and just left like that.
The Crusader's Strike that had become A-class, on the other hand, was turned into a special skill called Royal Crusader's Arts, a powerful sword skill. Fang Zheng had also learned about it from the acquirement, and it was similar to the double skills of World of Warcraft and Diablo. Most of the skill effects retained the Crusader's divine look, though when it was area attacks it looked closer to a dark power...
Alright, what Fang Zheng really wanted to talk about was: Did Arthas train a secret limited edition of the royal sword arts or something?
Compared to the petty as ever Frostmourne, the rewards for 'Guardian' gave him better benefits. Other than the fact that his world points increased by three again, he got a random reward, a title dubbing him 'Holy Guardian'.
Holy Guardian: You have changed the unchangeable fate, destroying the mist that flies over your future. While we do not yet know what lies at the end, your effort is a praiseworthy one. (When using this title, all friendly entities treat you with upstanding friendship, and your damage against hostile parties is increased by 100%, with enemy attacks against you lowered by 30%).

Because of this title, Fang Zheng could at least relax a little.
Seemed like summoning Arthas this time wasn't too much of a waste!
While this was just a title that didn't really change his appearance, the effects that came with the title were really obvious. In truth, no matter if it were Deckard Cain, Leah, or Tyrael, they were all evidently very friendly with him... Of course, they were only friends.
What was more important, though, was that this title worked in the main world as well!
This was a great piece of news, especially for someone who had been chased around by those Holy Knights. As someone who walked the line between life and death, Fang Zheng understood perfectly that friendliness and no friendliness was the determining factor between hell and heaven sometimes.
They were just friendly, but that was enough.
With that, he seemed to have remembered something- he turned to Tyrael.
"Master Tyrael, I have something I hope I can have your help with."
"What is it?"
Tyrael paused when he heard the request, though he smiled at him soon after. Fang Zheng took a breath.
"Well..."
He made his voice low as he told Tyrael what he wanted. Tyrael nodded after some thought.
"Alright, of course, young warrior..."
Leaving the room, Fang Zheng saw that the sky was still black, as black as this world full of despair and fear. Fang Zheng sighed and raised his hand out, the World Book appearing once more and softly landing on his palm.
You have successfully changed the fate of this world. Returning to main world. Please be prepared.

"...!"
A bright light exploded, and Fang Zheng entered the pillar of light without even looking back.
This world- this adventure, was finished.
Fang Zheng didn't enter the main world right away. He first came to a pure white space. Here, the system would make a judgment and rating on him every time he completed a mission world, and Fang Zheng just stood there silently as the system worked speedily.

You have received a bonus reward. The weapon is bound to your soul - Skybreaker.
A ding sounded, and soon after, a warm light and radiance came into being before his eyes. Following this, a sword with a blade of white and a handle of gold appeared silently in front of Fang Zheng.
Skybreaker (One-Handed Sword): Holy damage increased by 100%, holy abilities damage raised by 15%. Chance to summon an angel during battle to fight alongside you. (The Heavenly Army Slices Through All. The demons fall one after another, and with their blood, the eternal battlefield of war washed by blood).

This was worth it.
Looking at the sword before him, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. He was still hurt over the fact that he'd used one Arthas charge, but getting the title and the sword was more than enough compensation.
Now, following this...
Fang Zheng held out his hand to grip the sword. The world started turning, and soon after, the white world backed off in a flash, replaced by a brilliant sunlit forest. Fang Zheng sheathed the blade, and focused on this sky that was as much a stranger as the last.
Now... he needed to figure out how to survive here.


When Fang Zheng opened his eyes, he was surprised to find himself reborn in a fantasy world of magic, dragons, knights, and princesses. Not only that, but even the game system that Fang Zheng had designed before also followed him into this world. Then, his next step would be to traverse thousands of plains, gain endless strength, become a brave hero, defeat the devil, marry the princess, reach the apex in life… wait, wait, wait, before all that, why was he reborn as someone who everyone called a cultist?

In a dark forest, is a child running through the brush of leaves and low hanging branches. As they run through puddles of water and mud, they keep looking back. They're being chased by something big and fast.
The child stumbles onto a old wooden cabin in the middle of the forest. The abandoned cabin seems like a perfect hiding spot from whatever is chasing after them. 
Quickly the child heads into the cabin after giving the door a good push to open. Afterwards the child closes the door and looks around the room for something to place against the door as a barrier. They notice an old dinning room table by the corner of the room, and decide to use that.
With a couple drags and afterwards two good pushes, the child places the table right against the door.  They soon run off into the kitchen and grab an old rusty knife hanging above the counter.
With the blade in their hands, they guard their eyes at the barricaded door, armed and ready to face the monster lurking outside. 

"What the hell did you do to Frank", an officer screams at the stranger.  The stranger remains silent while his hands are raised in the air. "Can someone please check on Frank for Christ's sake", the officer announces in a panicked voice.
"Check for what! He's clearly not breathing. He's just a corpse or whatever you want to call that thing laying on the ground", another officer yells out as a response.
You can feel the uneasiness in the room as everyone around keeps looking at each other for some sort of answer. Nobody seems to have the nerve or better yet courage to at least deal with the corpse on the floor, because of the fear stirring in their hearts.
Then again, it was really the fear of catching whatever Frank had and meeting their maker too.
Mike soon takes charge of the situation and tells everyone, "lower your guns". 
"What! Are you insane", Tim exclaims to Mike as he tightens his grip on his gun. "Clearly this situation isn't one any person here has ever dealt with, so maybe this whole Mexican standoff isn't making the whole thing any better. Plus do you really want to risk being the next victim of a man with a literal death touch on him", Mike says to Tim. 
Afterwards Mike places his hand on Tim's gun pointed at the stranger.  He lowers the weapon down, looking at Mike and telling him, "easy now". Everyone one else starts to put their guns down and backs off real slow.
"Okay now, let's all take a deep breath and figure this whole mess out one step at a time", Mike tells everyone. 
The stranger clears his throat, and announces to everyone, "yes let's figure this shit out".
He starts to tidy himself up by pulling his shirt from it's bottom so that it sits well on his body.
"I'm not going to waste anyone's time, so let me cut straight to the chase.
You may call me by whatever title you'd feel fits me. Death, Stranger, Devil, Black Abyss, Collector or Harvester.  But really all you should know is, I'm here to search through all the apples in this town's basket and pick out the bad ones from the bunch", the stranger says to crowd of officers.
"Wait. Bad apples, what do you mean", one the officers asks the stranger. The stranger sighs heavily and exclaims, "in your little town here lives the bad hiding amongst the good. The bad hasn't really brought up any good for your little town obviously. So it's my job to take care of the bad".
The stranger looks at the corpse lying on the ground. "Your friend here had a little more to his character, and a very disturbing past.
Your boy here had a record of sexual cannibalism in the previous town he previously lived in
Soon after Frank here slept with a girl he just met, he'd soon after indulge on her very flesh as an after snack. And of course to keep a record of all his meals, he'd get a tattoo referring to his latest meal or victim", the stranger says all of this.
Everyone in the room stands there shocked and completely disgusted. 
"Of course none of you knew about your locals little eating habits, hence your faces", the stranger says. 
"And how do you happen to know such information. How do we know you're not making this shit up, or better yet were likely involved in this sickening act", Tim asks the stranger.
"Let's just say I have a wide knowledge for these sort of things.  Now for the meat of the matter, no pun intended. 
My arrival here has clearly upset the natural order of things around here.  But it's only going to get a whole lot worse, because I'm yet to deal with the other eleven of the twelve bad apples in this town.
They will soon meet judgment for their hidden original sins", the stranger exclaims.
"Sins", Mike exclaims as a question. "Yes Officer James. Your sins have led you to your demise", the stranger replies. "So who are these people", Mike asks the stranger.
The stranger laughs and says to him, "now where's the fun in that. You'll know soon enough after they meet their fates".
"It could be anyone in this room. Possibly everyone in this entire town. But I'm only here for the twelve",  the stranger announces to the room.
"This is bullshit", Tim yells as he pulls out his gun and points it back to the stranger. Before Mike can do anything about it, Tim pulls the trigger.
The sound of the gun echoes in the room, and everyone ducks down.  When the smoke clears, the stranger is still standing without any evidence of a gun shot wound.
He looks Tim straight in the eye and exclaims, "that's definitely going to cost you later on".
In a blink of an eye, the stranger disappears with the wind, leaving everyone there lost and completely perplexed.
Later that night the entire town holds a meeting in the Town hall.
"He was as white as a canvas!? I find that hard to believe"; one of the locals exclaims. "I seen it with my own two eyes. We all seen it", Tim responds.
Another local gets up and says, "you know what this means. We have a devil in our town and we need to cast him out". 
"We don't even know where he is, so how can we cast him out"; Tim exclaims.  Mike rubs his head and breathes out heavily.
His daughter walks up to him, and tugs his hand. "Is the bad guy coming to punish us for our sins. Is he here to take you away from us",  she asks Mike. 
"No my sweetie. Daddy is here to stay", he tells her.  Mike looks at the Pastor and asks him, "you wouldn't happen to have any clue about what exactly this is all about".
"Uhm. This is really beyond my knowledge", the Pastor exclaims. "Well then we're screwed", another local exclaims. "But how can one person know our hidden sins. And do we really have such things in this quiet town", a lady asks the room.
"Frank apparently had a hidden sin. A really disgusting one I might add.  Point being, people are beyond what meets the eye in this town.  We all knew Frank was one for starting up fights but not for cannibalism"; Tim exclaims.
The room falls to whispers, as everyone starts to question the whole situation.
"We could run away for safety. I mean he can't pick us out if we're not here", the town butcher suggests. "But wouldn't that just mean we have something to hide if we're running away", Tim exclaims.
"Tim is right. Running away won't solve anything. This stranger definitely isn't human, so who's to say he wouldn't find us wherever we run off to. 
The best play is to stick together, and protect each other. And the only way that's going to happen is by us being honest with each other and telling everyone of any hidden sins we might have lurking in the dark", Mike tells the entire room.
The room falls silent.
One of the old locals says, "why must we risk our own lives for the guilty. If death is to follow for their sins, let it follow".
Everyone in the room seems to agree with the lady by their loud chattering.
"Everyone is guilty of something. If this man is out here picking out people by their sins, we're all guilty of something. But we should always remember that there's no rating or scale of what makes a sin bigger or worse than another", Mike says to everyone.
"A sin is a sin right Pastor", Mike says while looking at the Pastor.  The Pastor nods yes in response.
"And how exactly are you going to protect us from this stranger. It seems damn well impossible", the butcher exclaims.  You leave that to me and the Sherrif's department to handle that okay",  Mike tells the man.
"You seem to be the most worried one here Ernest. You got something to hide, like charging extra on people's beef", Tim asks the butcher. "You're just speculating things that aren't there. I'm just looking out for my family as a father should"; Ernest says.
"Is that so", a voice from the back exclaims. 
Everyone's attention turns to the voice, and the stranger walks out of the shadows to greet them all.
"And who are you", Ernest asks the stranger in an annoyed voice.  The policemen in the room soon recognise the man, and quickly go to grab their guns.
The stranger chuckles and looks at the butcher saying, "I'm just the young girl whose heart you took a long time ago. Time to return the favour old man".
As soon as he says that, the stranger pulls a heart from behind him. The heart beats in his hand with fresh blood still dripping from it.  Everyone in the room falls silent in shock, but Ernest's eyes grow wide as he grabs his chest where his heart is supposed to be.
That's his heart in the stranger's hand.
Ernest falls to ground, failing to breathe.  His wife quickly rushes over to his side, while Ernest fights for his life.  His two sons stand back, watching their father die in front of their eyes. Everyone else in the room just stands and watches this whole thing happen.
After a few huffs and puffs,  Ernest gives his last breath and slowly rests his head on the ground, and shuts his eyes.
The stranger with the heart still is his hand, drops it to the ground and smiles afterwards.

A quiet peaceful town is soon thrown into disarray at the arrival of a mysterious figure, bringing a promise of 12 people dying at the cost of their sins.
