The sirens. Immortal, evil beings, with whose beauty no creature, not even witches, can be compared with. Their unworldly beauty and ugly hearts are deadly combination for anyone who steps ide their territory. 


They are daughters of a Devil and Sea nymph. The blood that flows in their veins protects them from almost anything but also punishes them if they go against their own nature- they must never fall in love. 


There is a legend that whoever gets a single kiss from a Siren can become immortal. The kiss can not be taken forcefully. It has to be given willingly from a Siren, otherwise you die from a slow and agonizing death. Many warriors throughout history, longed for immortality and in that longing they traveled to their territory.


But when they entered- there was no sound of their deadly songs. There was no trace of them. As, If they existed only in a legends passed from generation on generation. The cold weather and even colder water, were the only reality, they were introduced too.


When the hope was lost and they tried to sail back home, they couldn't find a way out. Some died out of hunger and some died from a hypothermia. They all died questioning the existence of those mythological creatures. For Sirens cannot be found unless they want to be seen.


But on the one, seemingly normal evening the catastrophe happened. On the Siren's deadly waters territory the Ares, God of War entered. It was not the first time that immortal found their way inside of the Siren's land but it was the first time that God himself entered. No other but the most deadly and cruelest of them all- Ares, God of Fury and Wrath. 


His enormous, 6'8 tall and scared body, stormed with smooth and trained footsteps. His face, sharp and distant was not a beautiful face. It was face decorated with scars. Scars that reached deeper than his soul. There was nothing that breathed life out of him. Where he passed, the trees withered. He was submitting the nature under his foot. It was the first time that someone of a higher power than that of a Siren, entered their land. The birds flew away and hid under the leaves as if that could protect them from the Ares's gaze. Even the water stopped moving.


The Sirens could feel His presence as well and even though they were curious to steal a glance of a God himself, the fear was greater and they swam even deeper under the waters comforting blanket. 


But He was not there for those mystical and beautiful creatures. His mind was focused on finding the red gems that could only be found on the Siren's territory. Red gems were the rarest and most mesmerizing stones that were scattered around the crystal fountain surrounded by deadly snakes. They were the Siren's most treasured jewelry and they were protected by the huge and merciless piton snakes. 


Ares was also not the first one to be searching for the red gems. Couple of mortals and immortals too, were here before Him, trying to find their way to the crystal fountain. It was extremely hard to locate the fountain and those that succeeded in finding it were strangled or bitten by the piton snakes that were protecting the gems.  


But He was the first one, who was not interested in their beauty or market worth. He needed gems for they were the only stones hard enough to serve for sharpening of His blood soaked weapons. 


The cold weather did not bother Him like it would bother the mere mortals. His steps, authoritative and hard were not lost like they were from so many others that entered the deadly waters. With ease, He found a fountain but before he could close His distance the black piton snake appeared before him. 


"Well, well, If that isn't a God of War himself." The snake hissed. 


"Step away snake or I will have your head." Ares's command was like u thunder. Clouds grew bigger as, If the sky was affected by his voice. 


"I am not here to stand between You and the gems, God of Destruction." Snake mysteriously hissed before speaking again. 


"I can see it.....If you come close the the crystal fountain, If you set your eyes on her...You will gain something much more precious than the red gems." Snake stopped before she hissed again "The Siren's heart." 


"I see her blood on your hands." Snake continued. 


"I am not interested in killing anyone. I am here only for the gems." Ares's thunderers voice boomed again. 


"She will die not by Your sword but Your love." Snake hissed almost aggressively. 


The snake could not help itself. They are the loyal protectors of their masters- the daughters of a Devil. The deadly princesses of the Sea- The Sirens. Even when in front of the God himself, they stay their loyal servants. 


"And even less interested in loving someone, snake." Ares's eyes narrowed and reached for his blade. He was losing His patience. 


"Be quick, The God of War. Take what you came for and leave. Leave before You set Your eyes on her...With her death yours will follow...The God of War will fall." Snake warningly hissed and defeatedly moved away.

The God of War and The God of Destruction- The Ares. Older than the beginning of the World. With a face deformed by the scars that cut deeper than His soul. The sight of Him is not beautiful but terrifying. His body is soaked with the blood of thousands. No women- be it Goddesses or mortal, has ever captured His heart. The heart that beats only for the flesh He is about to tear apart.

Until He sees her. The unworldly beautiful and equally evil Siren, Jezebel. He will demand her heart and she will demand His life.

Tang Yue wiggled her butt on the feathered bed and curiously retrieved the pieces of jewels one by one from her space pearl.
There were three shiny rings, each made of a crystal clear ruby gem. 
These gems were especially suitable for rune crafting and were a common material for crafting space pouches.
Other than the rings, there were also a couple of earring sets and one amulet chain. 
These were fitted with emerald and amethyst gems, also used as common runic materials, but not for space pouches.
These were actually solely used for mana enhancing engravings and mana barrier engravings.
[Ho Ho Ho. It looks like you have got some good items there, little snake!] The elder chimed in.
Tang Yue indignantly scoffed and asked the old man. 
"Can you tell me what are these and what special properties do they have?"

Asking this old goat anything extra was useless, but suddenly an idea popped up in her mind.

"Let me ask again. Is it safe to go there, not for you but me?" Marvin asked again and this time, he made sure that this sneaky little bastard won't be able to use any loopholes.
"It's not safe for you. You can enter and explore the first lair but the other two are littered with traps and will reap your life before you even know it."
The Draconian Snake exposed the truth as it was bounded by the rules of the blood contract. Honestly, it didn't mind killing Marvin and then dying due to the clause imposed by the blood contract. It was better than being a slave of a human for all eternity.
"Oh, tell me everything about your lairs, locations, and traps included," Marvin demanded as he wanted to take the treasures in those lairs for himself.
"The first lair is right beneath the blood valley. The second lair is located behind a waterfall near the supply camps of the blood fiends. The only way to reach the second lair is to use the interconnecting passage of the first lair. However, the interconnecting underground passage is filled with miasma that instantly melts beast and humans, alike. The third layer is located in the world of Camelot. However, you'll need to pass the world connecting portal to reach that place, but the underground passage that leads to the world connecting portal is filled to the brim with lava that is enforced with magic power."
"So, I'll be burned to crisp, huh?"
"Yes,"
"Can't you go there and get the treasures for me?"
"I can't. My body is too weak right now, and I'll die the moment I step inside the interconnecting passages that leads to the second and third lairs..."

Marvin completely trusted Xiao Xie words as it was connected to him through the rules of the blood contract.

Marvin said a white lie as he utilized his special ability to check the details of the dismantled body parts of the Xiao Xie true body.
Soon after, they stored its poisonous glands, elemental heart, and all of its scales in their spatial storage device. The scales of the beasts could be used to create armors and weapons. The poisonous glands could be devoured to gain immunity against poison. While its elemental heart blood could be used to create a talisman of utmost powers.
"Where are my sister-in-law?" Fatty Liam said while laying on the grassy ground. He was honestly tired and exhausted because of experiencing the draconian might of the draconian snake a while ago, and it was only due to sheer determination that he reached this place.
"I told them to go back to the camp and group up with you, but I guess you missed each other. I think they might be worried about me," Marvin replied as he took out the love token that the princess gave him.
"I am fine, and best of all, I've defeated the draconian snake. If you receive this message, then please return to the creek. Fatty Liam is already here. I'll be waiting for you guys to get here," Marvin internally said as he clutched the love token closer to his heart.
He was sure that it'll convey his feelings to Leilani.

The gemstones had a superstitious name called "Ghostly Fire" mainly because it appeared in dark places like cemeteries. In fact, it only appeared in places with the dead and these gemstones belong to the underground. It was no wonder that it had such a name.

Even Duke Moville got a great shock as an ominous feeling overwhelmed him. Although the wound was only about one centimeter long, it was clearly sustained by a whip. It would be impossible that she was the one who injured herself. After thinking about the horseback riding contest she had with Avrora, he reckoned that it definitely had something to do with Avrora.
Avrora had gotten into trouble.
"How did you get injured?" he asked in a threatening and stern manner. 
He stared at the wound on her soft and tender skin which was in a better state than that of those women who placed great emphasis on taking care of their skin. The contrast made her wound look even more daunting than it was. Her skin had already ruptured and her flesh was exposed. Although the bleeding had already stopped, her skin was still swollen and it looked terrifying because of the enlarged size. The swelling was exaggerated by the thinness of her wrist.
She had always been pampered by him and hence, her skin was very sensitive and susceptible to damage. If not taken care of properly, her wound would definitely worsen. Even when they were getting intimate, he would try his best not to damage her skin.
Besides, she was extremely spoiled and would frown or weep and lament about being in pain whenever she sustained minor bruises. Yet, she actually managed to keep mum about it this time and did not even show her emotions on her face.
Duke Moville frantically said, "I didn't expect that you'd get injured in my residence, Miss Bella. It's negligence on our part. I'll get the doctor to come here and take a look at your wound." He then hurriedly gave out instructions to the waitress beside him.
Instead of answering him, Si Yiyan held her hand tightly and asked, "How did you get injured?"
Wen Xinya knew that Si Yiyan was extremely enraged. She frantically said, "I accidentally got injured while competing with Avrora just now." Noticing the gloomy and sullen expression on his face, she hurriedly added, "My wounds are alright. Miss Avrora sustained a much more severe injury than me. She fell from the horse and even sprained her ankle."
She was trying to say that she did not lose out! 
However, Si Yiyan was still extremely displeased. He glared at her with pursed lips. 
"Impossible. I was the one who taught Avrora how to ride horses. How could she have fallen off the horse? How's her injury?" Duke Moville asked with an austere expression. It was just a horseback riding competition and yet, both of them ended up getting injured. Avrora even fell off the horse. He was certain that there was more than met the eye.
Avrora has always been good at horseback riding and I was the one who gifted her with Snow White. Not only is it tame and docile, but it also has a good footing too. How could Avrora have fallen off the horse? This definitely has something to do with this Miss Bella.
Seemingly frightened by Duke Moville, Wen Xinya huddled up in Si Yiyan's embrace and shuddered. "I… I don't know what happened to Avrora's horse, but it refused to continue galloping all of a sudden and even threw a tantrum. I rode Blazing Flame which then surpassed Miss Avrora. I don't know what happened next, but she just fell off the horse." After licking her dry lips, she continued, "Miss Avrora may have fallen off the horse, but she didn't sustain any major injuries except an ankle sprain." 
Pretending to be terrified, she rubbed her face against Si Yiyan's chest and said, "Had I known earlier, I wouldn't have agreed to compete with Miss Avrora. If she sustains a severe injury, I'll be very guilty."

Chapter 8 - Madness
The hunter carried Wayne on his shoulder and ran as fast as possible. Wayne looked behind him and saw many crazy looking blue pythons chasing after them. There were only forty to fifty of them at the beginning but a few minutes later, there were hundreds of them. 
Wayne was paled looking at that many blue pythons. They were not a normal blue python too. From that only encounter Wayne had earlier, he knew he stood zero chance of winning against the blue python. 
"Madness… is it some kind of form for the monsters or are they going mad?" Wayne thought. He never heard of that term before and when he heard the hunter talking in his comms, he knew that it did not sound like good news. 
Wayne glanced at the massive group of crazy blue python chasing after them. Suddenly, a few of them disappeared. Wayne knew what had happened!
"Sir! Some of them are coming! Fast!" Wayne shouted at the hunter carrying him. Even so, the hunter's arm carrying the big blade had already raised in the air and the blade turned massive as earlier. 
"I know!" The hunter replied. Without waiting the blue pythons appeared, the hunter swung the massive blade horizontally 360 degrees. Suddenly, the blue pythons appeared but they were cut by the blade and died. 
"Whoa!" Wayne was shocked. "Is this the strength of the real hunter? I wonder if he has completed the first layer?" Wayne thought. He thought that the hunter guarding the examinees would be slightly stronger than the examinees but he was wrong. 
The hunter that was carrying him was strong. He did not even look when he killed that many blue pythons as if he knew where they would appear which might be true. 
Even so, something else happened after the blue python was killed that perplexed Wayne. Rather than dying normally like normal monsters, the 'madness' monsters turned to dust when they were killed. "Is it because of the 'madness'? or because of the skill used by the hunter?" Wayne wondered. 
The blue python kept disappearing and then, the hunter swung his blade and killed many of them. The situations continued for a few minutes before Wayne asked, "Sir, I thought that we can teleport directly back to base?" 
"We need to reach the checkpoint first before we can use the teleportation. The first location you were teleported to on the first day. Other than that, it is useless to use teleport when madness is nearby. If they teleport together with us, it will cause a huge problem. You see yourself how crazy they are," the hunter explained while his hand was busy killing the 'vanishing' blue python. 
Wayne nodded. He understood what the hunter meant. He looked towards the blue pythons and he felt fear. "It looks like soldiers of giant ants chasing after us," thought Wayne because there were too many of them. 
They were not in the hundreds anymore. Possibly thousands of them. "Can we escape from here?" Wayne was worried. Wayne looked above and he was shocked to see many winged blue pythons chasing after them too. 
Wayne finally met a mutant blue python but he saw them not in peace. With the ground and air filled with the crazy monsters, there was nowhere else they could go. 
"Damn it!" The hunter shouted. He also knew the severity of the situation. The hunter activated his comms immediately to call for help. With that much madness after him and Wayne, there was no way they could escape. 
"SOS! We urgently need help now! Thousands of madness are chasing after us. Ground and air!" The hunter shouted through his comms and his hands got busier swinging the blade because more and more of the blue pythons were 'vanishing' and appearing to kill them. 
"Helps on the way," said a voice through the comms, and in a second, a man appeared a kilometer away from them floating in the air. Wayne could not see the floating man because his face was at the back of the running hunter. 
The hunter saw the man floating in the air and he was happy. "Use your fastest speed. I am going to blast all these things to oblivion," a voice appeared through the comms. "Got it," said the hunter, and suddenly, his body was filled with mana and he dashed like a mad man. 
Wayne was shocked at the sudden speed. Both of them passed the floating man and Wayne finally saw that hunter. The floating hunter emitted massive energy and it attracted the attention of the blue pythons. 
They stopped chasing after Wayne and the hunter and focused on the floating hunter. The floating hunter looked serious and three layers of the massive ring appeared behind his back and in the middle of the ring was a cultivation map with a shape of a dragon. 
Wayne was shocked and he stared at the floating hunter attentively. "A hunter at the third layer," mumbled Wayne. He never once met a hunter or explorer at the first layer and now, he met someone far above that. 
"ROAR!!!!" The floating man roared and a massive shockwave blasted all the blue pythons to smithereens. Wayne was extremely shocked when all the crazy blue pythons disappeared in one attack of the floating hunter. 
"Line clear. Use the teleporter now," a voice came through the comms. The hunter replied, "Roger," he dashed towards the checkpoint and used the teleporter. 
The floating hunter stared far into the horizon. He activated the comms and said, "I am going to kill the dungeon boss. Hurry up with the evacuation. We need to close this dungeon." 
"Roger!" 
"There has been a lot of 'madness' recently," said the floating man and he flew somewhere and killed all the blue pythons he met on the way without sparing them once. 
The hunter and Wayne arrived at the entrance of the dungeon. "Get out of this dungeon. Monica is waiting outside," said the hunter. Wayne nodded and passed through the gate. Before he went through the gate, he saw the small town in the dungeon was in chaos as everyone seemed to rush to flee the dungeon. 
"The 'madness' must be bad news," thought Wayne and he got out of the dungeon. Once he got out, a hunter led him to the examinees' group and it looked like not all of them were there yet. They waited for half an hour until everyone arrived. 
From the look of them, Wayne knew they had gone through a lot of things. Wayne was not sure if they encountered the 'madness' but their haggard look made him know that they encountered difficulties. 
"Well, everyone is here. I am sure some of you already know what has happened and because of that, we need to end the first part of the test early. As for the second part, we will change location," said Monica and she asked, "Any questions?"
Wayne raised his hand and asked, "What is 'madness'?" He had no idea what was 'madness' but he got the general idea of what they were. Just by the name called by the hunter, he knew the monsters were going crazy. 
"Madness is a phenomenon where monsters become bloodthirsty and crazy. They will not care about their lives and attack anything with energy in their bodies except against other madness monsters. They will always attack non-madness creatures, us includes," explained Monica. 
"Once a monster becomes madness, their power will rise to another rank and in this situation, the madness blue python is as strong as iron rank monsters… peak iron rank monsters" said Monica shocking many of the examinees including Wayne. 
Wayne finally knew he stood no chance against the madness blue python. "I will die if not because of the hunter guarding me," Wayne gulped and he knew the severity of the situation. 
"Not only that, once a monster becomes madness, like a virus, but other monsters in the dungeon will also become madness too. The madness phenomenon happened so fast. Research has said that one madness can give birth to 100 madness in one second," said Monica with a serious face. 
Everyone gasped. Wayne was not the only one who encountered the madness but he was the first person to encounter one. Others met the madness too and fear could be seen on their faces because they went through a similar situation as Wayne. 
"They rarely appear so you don't need to worry much about it. You guys are slightly unlucky to meet them today," said Monica. "Anyway, we will continue with the next part of the test in another dungeon. Let's move on." 
After that, they were teleported to another dungeon and started the second part of the test. 
67th Winter Year 2500.
The second part of the test went smoothly without much problem and Wayne and the group he was in passed through the test with flying color. He did not absorb more of the cultivation gem but collected them for later use. 
He was grouped with four other examinees and in the group, he was undoubtedly the strongest. The others had absorbed a lot of cultivation gems during the first part of the test but they were far weaker compared to Wayne who only absorbed five normal rank cultivation gems. 
Wayne knew that they must have learned inferior cultivation techniques and considering the situation with the madness, Wayne was worried about them. Not only the group members but the whole of humanity. 
According to Monica, the madness was a rare phenomenon. Even so, Wayne got a tingling that what she said was not the truth. She concealed some information probably because she did not want the examinees to fill with fear and also, they were yet a full-fledged hunter. 
"Maybe, I need to find someone trustable and spread the fixed cultivation technique," thought Wayne. "If they can get the written techniques, with human creativity, we can create stronger cultivation techniques. Relying on the technique dropped by the monsters is not reliable."
Wayne was not greedy or anything. Due to how he was raised, he was a kind guy. Sometimes naïve too but he was not stupid. He knew that even if his intention was good, others might not. 
Even if he wanted to spread the knowledge, he would need someone he could trust and powerful enough to not be threatened by others. Be that as it may, Wayne had no one like that around him. He could ask his real family but he had yet to reveal his identity. 
Wayne wanted humanity to become strong. There were many things humans had yet to achieve since the appearance of monsters. The most glaring reason for the late development was due to power. 
The human was still weak. How strong would one need to be was unknown to Wayne but from what he had gone through, he had a feeling that humans were far from the real peak power. Wayne's Precious Touch might be one of the answers to this. 
As the tests ended, Wayne got his hunter license and he was happy that he was in the top 100 examinees. Though he used superior cultivation techniques and skills, he was not the best in the exam. 
He knew that a hunter and explorer power did not rely only on cultivation techniques and skills. Many other factors contributed to the power of a hunter and explorer. 
Wayne was now officially a G rank hunter. If he wanted to raise the rank of his hunter, he would need to do a lot of missions issued by the Hunter Association. Once he completed many missions, he would be able to raise the rank. 
With his status as G rank hunter, Wayne could now enter any dungeon he wanted. There were no restrictions as to what dungeon he could enter but if he entered a dungeon far above what he could afford, the risk was him to bear. 
Wayne was not that stupid to enter the silver rank dungeon when his overall power was normal rank. That was stupidity and he knew his limitations. Wayne decided to rest for a day and went to a dungeon before the high academy started. 
The high academy entrance exam day would be on the 90th of Winter every year. Wayne had less than thirty days to strengthen himself before the start of the high academy. He decided to train in the dungeon before the start of the entrance exam. 
Once he got home, Wayne started cleaning as he had left the house for more than 20 days. It was dusty and he was not a fan of dusty homes. He was fine in the dungeon because that was not his house. 
After he finished cleaning, he went for a shower and had his dinner. After that, he skimmed through his harvest from the two dungeons he entered for the hunter exam. He got a lot of things and he was happy for the harvest. 
The second part of the test was done in the iron scorpion dungeon. Though the scorpion was iron, they were not iron rank monsters. The dungeon was a normal rank similar to the Blue Python dungeon. 
Wayne harvested a lot of things from the iron scorpion dungeon. He collected a lot of cultivation gems. Due to the test being in a group, he hunted more than when he was alone. Thus, Wayne gets more cultivation gems than in the blue python dungeon. 
He got 35 cultivation gems in the blue python dungeon but in the iron scorpion dungeon, he got 60 normal rank cultivation gems. Wayne used 20 of those crystals to upgrade his storage and for the rest of the cultivation gems, he had his plan. 
Wayne wanted to combine the gems to increase its rank. He had this plan since inside the blue python dungeon. The knowledge was in his head but he could not execute it because he needed to slightly increase his power so that he could hunt more monsters. 
With Multiplication, he could fuse ten normal rank cultivation gems to create an iron rank cultivation gem. If he wanted to create a bronze rank cultivation gem, he would need to fuse ten iron rank cultivation gems. 
Since Wayne had forty normal rank cultivation gems, he could create four iron rank cultivation gems. Wayne did not waste his time and used Precious Touch, Multiplication on the forty normal rank cultivation gems. 
The fusion went on without a hitch and Wayne obtained four iron rank cultivation gems. Since the gem was one rank higher than the normal rank gem, the time it took to absorb it was higher too. Wayne planned to absorb it later. He put away the four iron rank cultivation gems and took out the skill books, technique books, and essences. 
Wayne fixed all the skill books and technique books. Scanned them and stored the data on his laptop. After that, he did nothing else to the skill books and technique books. He had no use of them at the moment and decided to keep it for later. 
Wayne could not sell them because he had fixed the skills and techniques. He made a dumb mistake there. Nothing he could do as the thing had happened. 
After that, his focus fell on the essences. The most precious things he got during the test. Yes, the essence was rare and the one sold on the market was super expensive. Be that as it may, Wayne's Precious Touch made it easy for him to obtain essence. The essence he could produce was based on the power of the monsters. Since he was in normal rank dungeons, all the essences he extracted were G- to E grades. 
They were low grades but that was not a problem with Wayne because with Addition he could raise the grade of the essences. 
From the blue python dungeon, Wayne got three different essences. They were the snake essence, blue python essence, and water essence. From the iron scorpion dungeon, Wayne got another three essences. They were the scorpion essence, iron essence, and iron scorpion essence. 
From Wayne's observation, one species of monsters could only have three different types of essences. He had extracted tens of them and all of them yielded the same essences. 
Without wasting much time, Wayne used Addition and created SSS+ grade essences. Even so, Wayne decided to use the snake and scorpion essence giving him two new talents at SSS+ grade. Wayne planned to auction the SSS+ iron scorpion and blue python essence once he entered the high academy. He could get a lot of money from selling them because their quality was at the peak. 
As for the iron essence and water essence, Wayne had another plan for them. The water essence would not take long before Wayne reached his target but the iron essence would take much longer time or Wayne might not even need it in the future. 
With all of that out of the way, Wayne decided to absorb the iron rank cultivation gem. If one normal rank would need one hour to absorb, the iron rank would need two hours to absorb. So, with four iron rank cultivation gems, Wayne would need eight hours to finish absorbing them. 
Wayne stored all the books and essences in his storage and started absorbing the gems. Eight hours later, four more points in his cultivation map shone and his status increased by 48 grades. All his status leveled up to 4. 
"It is late," said Wayne and he went to sleep.

Wayne went to meet his parents but stopped his intention when he found out that his parents were from a rank S noble family. Wayne decided to meet his real parents when he had become stronger. He was too ashamed to meet them in his current condition. 
His 15th birthday came and he obtained his system. He was surprised to see that he got a special skill, Precious Touch. With this special skill, Wayne started his adventure to become strong to officially meet his real parents.

Nie Donghai was true to his word.
In the following days, he continued to give flamecloud gems to Nie Tian so that his animal bone could absorb their flame power.

"There's no need." Nie Tian shook his head. "In my opinion, this animal bone is a bottomless pit. No amount of flamecloud gems will be enough to fill it." 

Nie Qian put on a straight face and said angrily, "Are you telling me that you plan on giving up like this? Do you have any idea what your grandfather has gone through to get you these flamecloud gems?"
"I know." Nie Tian's eyes were filled with agony. "I also know that you have sold your valuable jewelery at low prices to get me more flamecloud gems."
Nie Qian was startled. She immediately realized that her nephew had grown up, and he had already perceived what was going on from the trivial clues he had found.
She pondered the matter for a moment and then reassuringly said, "Money and valuables are merely possessions. As long as you can reach the ninth level of Qi Refining by the age of fifteen, and become a disciple of the Cloudsoaring sect, all of our investment will be well paid off."
With these words, her expression grew grim again and said, "I'm afraid your grandfather's injuries won't get better. His road of cultivation is reaching its end."

Nie Tian and Nie Qian stared at the animal bone from beginning till end. Seeing the animal bone become dark and lifeless again, they were full of disappointment.
"Don't be depressed, I'll think of something else." Nie Qian suppressed her disappointment with great effort, and said. "I'll go to the mines tomorrow. There are plenty of flamecloud gems waiting to be mined. If I work harder and longer, I can surely bring you more flamecloud gems!"
Nie Tian bounced up and said. "I'll go with you!"
"No!" Nie Qian replied forcefully. "Due to our excessive mining of flamecloud gems, collapses happen in the mines from time to time. It's too dangerous. You absolutely can't go!"
Nie Tian's voice was full of certainty as he said, "I believe that even with several dozen more flamecloud gems, the animal bone won't necessarily be filled. Only if I bring the animal bone with me and let it absorb from those unmined flamecloud gems, would we have the chance to fill it up, and therefore completely form the blood drop."
"Let the animal bone absorb directly from the raw ore?" Nie Qian was surprised by his idea.
She also thought Nie Tian's suggestion made sense. It wasn't easy to mine the numerous flamecloud gems.
Even if she worked there, she wouldn't be able to mine a large amount of flamecloud gems in a short period of time. Moreover, she would have to keep record of the mined flamecloud gems when she left the mines. A portion of them would go to the Cloudsoaring sect; a portion of them would go to the Nie clan's storehouse; the portion she could actually leave with would be only about twenty percent.
She had already calculated that to get several dozen flamecloud gems, she probably would have to spend more than half a year in the mines.
On the other hand, Nie Tian was already eleven, so time was what he lacked the most.
"Let me go," Nie Tian pleaded. "I can't just sit around and wait. I need to fight for myself. Going to the mines would also be a type of training for me."
Nie Qian considered carefully, before she finally nodded her head. "Remember. When we are out of Black Cloud City, you must follow my orders, and never act without my permission!
"Of course! Of course!" Nie Tian immediately promised.
Having been strictly confined to the Nie clan for months, he had been bored to death long ago. Now that the strangers who had lingered around the Nie clan had long since disappeared, he wanted to find an opportunity himself and go out.
Nie Qian said, "Tomorrow morning, I'll take you out of town!"

The next morning before dawn, Nie Tian was already standing at the gate when Nie Qian came.

"The turtle has finally come out of its shell!" Yuan Qiuying's expression flickered as she gritted her teeth and said viciously. "That bitch and that fatherless and motherless little bastard, I'll see if they can break free from my grasp this time!"
She had never let go of her grudge against Nie Qian and Nie Tian.
Although she had recently called off the guest elders she sent to the Nie clan, she had still been secretly watching the gates of Black Cloud City.
She knew that Nie Qian and Nie Tian would eventually run out of patience and have to get out of the city.
Yuan Qiuying said ferociously, "They dared to leave Black Cloud City? The heavens must be helping me. I would have had to think twice before making a move inside the city. Now that they are out of the city, they shall never go back alive!
"That bitch must have gone to the Nie clan's mines in Cloudsoaring Mountain! Don't beat the grass and scare the snake (see note1), so don't make a move on their way to the mines. She will undoubtedly pay extra attention on their way to the mines. You just wait for them to come out of the mines and kill them on their way back to the city!"
"Understood, Mistress. I promise they won't make it back to Black Cloud City alive!"
"Alright. Make it clean and leave no traces. After it's done, order those guys to leave Black Cloud City and never return, so as to avoid the Cloudsoaring sect from getting any information that can be used against us."
"I understand."

"Damn! The eye used magic! They've merged!" after yelling that a small black snake whipped out from his pocket, holding the same small bead that the other snakes had eaten, and threw one into Karkov's mouth. Tens of snakes blasted from his back and charged at Rolas. She managed to avoid all the bites but it ended up flinging her away, throwing her into a wall of her materials, crashing into several vials, and breaking them as they fell to the floor. A purple-yellow swirling potion fell on her head, splashing her with the contents, and knocked her unconscious. Tens of small snakes blasted from his front end at the same time and flung him up. He ran up to Zeeth, a few of his pitch-black snakes rushing at his neck. 
The eye said to Zeeth, 'there is a man attacking you. Fight back.'
Zeeth came out of his trance while talking to Black and blinked his eyes into focus. Just as the eye said, Karkov was rushing at him with snakes covering his entire torso. He stomped his foot and a wall of water splashed out between the two. He used the block to jump back and create stronger walls but before he could create a wall of gems or greystone, the snakes burst through at him, heading straight for his ribs. 
It slithered past the wall before it finished so the wall caught the snake by its body, but it was all Karkov needed to jump above it. The snake was detached as more were lunging at him from above. He threw a ball of heat at the snakes from Mag, not having the time to combine it with the gems because he noticed at that second that the snake that was caught in the gems and detached was still moving, heading straight for his thighs. A powerful jet of water spurt out from one of his slimes that wrapped his thigh, killing the snake.
The eye told him, 'I'm building up another attack, stall for a bit and I can stop his movements.'
Karkov landed behind him and they both swung around at the same time to face each other, both of them swinging a fist at each other's faces. Karkov used a cluster of snakes while Zeeth had his slime wrapped and heavy punch. They clashed for a second in the air before the weight shifted in the slime, catching up with the momentum his fist carried and sent Karkovs snakes flying off, ripping from his torso and landing on the floor. There was a small, bleeding cut on his chest near the base of one of the snakes that flew off but the rest was just black. Karkov had intentionally let his snakes go before they were forcefully ripped off, his reaction speed was impressive. 
Zeeth noticed his cut and said, "Karkov, your snakes aren't coming back and I just ripped off a few of your snakes that are dying. You're bleeding too."
Zeeth saw the snakes coiling around on the floor. Finding them a nuisance, he wanted to trap them somehow so he used Leaf's wind to create a colder area around them, attempting to freeze the water they were in to hold them down. A light frost developed on the thin water. It wasn't enough to trap them, they were easily breaking out of it, but the snakes were trying vehemently to get out of it. The parts in the frost were shriveling up, the cold was slowly killing them. The ones on Karkov's torso were still alive, although they seemed hurt by it too. 
"And? You think I can't fight just because of that?"
"That pill you swallowed. I think it's made you far stronger, like the snake you first fed it to. But it also doesn't allow you to change or heal without some sort of external power, like the snake, right? I'm just saying, I'm in a much better position than you are. You should give u-"
But before he could finish, Karkov ran at him with a crazy look in his eye and an angry face, lunging both the snakes on his body and the ones on the floor at him. Zeeth stomped and created a large wave of water at all of them, pushing the snakes back and slowing down Karkov, who's running became messy from his anger.
"Don't you EVER tell me to give up!" Karkov lifted all the snakes and yelled, "Splash Zo-!"
Reverberations of black magic pulsed from all the heads of the snakes on him. They shot out and bounced around like sound waves, hitting Zeeth. The reverberations caused Mel to shoot wake, wrapping itself around the other slimes but still under his robes and spreading its area as much as possible in order to hungrily eat up as much of the black magic pulses as it could. Mel vivaciously jumped around under his clothes to lap up any reverberations that passed by.
But before he could finish the magic, the eye released a sharp, black ray that locked him in place while Zeeth released a large splash of water at him and applied some cold winds to freeze it, but the water was moving too much and the wind was too weak for any freezing.  Page realized what Zeeth was doing, ran up, and touched the water with his fingers, freezing the large splash of water that still wrapped around Karkov. His pulses instantly stopped, much to Mel's dismay, who slithered back into its original position near his palm. The splash created a hold on Karkov that prevented any movements from any of his snakes. Rolas finally blinked awake and saw that her hands were covered in the potion, muttered something about having to put the sleeping potions in a better place. She got up and grabbed Karkov's face, one of the few parts not covered with ice, and asked, "Merge? Karkov, what do you mean merge? He didn't swallow the eye yet."
With a grin, he replied, "The eye communicates to beings it finds interesting, we talked the first time I found it. It told me I was unworthy of inheriting the power with my weak and typical body but I swore to get stronger until I was able to hold the power and control the power the eye holds, not just inherit them."
"Which is why you went to all this trouble to get all this weird stuff?"
"But now that the eye uses the boy's magic and attached itself to him, they are bonded with a bond that cannot be separated until death and decomposition of the boy's magic."
While they were talking the eye and Zeeth were still having their telepathic conversation, "now that I have used your magic, we are bonded until either of us dies. This isn't anything too serious, we just share some power. You can borrow some of mine and me some of yours. I still recommend you allow me to take over, we are stronger if we stick together, and being inside your body is the safest option."
"Of course not! As I said, I don't want you to take over my mind."
"Fascinating. How many years have I missed from this world? The general consensus seems to be so different. I wonder if other humans are like you or if there are any willing to allow me to take over. No, not worth it. The last fool was far too weak, you are likely my best chance, you had the largest pool of mana under your control in the room." the eye thought for a while and said, "How about a compromise. Ugh, even saying that grosses me out, if I wasn't so curious I would never degrade myself so much. You will die in a hundred years at most anyways, this shame will die with you."
"What's your compromise."
"You will let me reside within your body, viewing the world from your perspective and I won't take you over. At least not without your consent."
"How does this help me? I'll just have some noisy voice in my head."
"Noisy?! The gall! No, no. it seems you are unaware of my capabilities. The legends of my power have since died out, I wonder what has happened."
"Apparently there was a Dragon attack on humans many years ago and numerous cities and nearly countless humans fell."
"Really? The dragons? I always thought they were sort of docile and cute, what has happened?"
"Not sure."
"Right, as you saw I can use rather high-grade magic abilities that can help you out. I also have secret techniques and skills that I am certain you have not heard of, I can aid you in using them and ensure you don't die when using difficult techniques."
"What techniques are these?"
"Hmm… can I trust you? I guess I must in order to earn your trust. You must know however, I won't teach you the methods but I can tell you the effects. Understand that this is a matter of personal endangerment and not distrust."
