Celebrities cover their wrists with makeup, clothes or accessories in order to prevent identity theft.

This is a non-fiction work. based on an incident I had when attending a family gathering. I found this very amusing and thus, I am sharing it today.

As we see from the title, the snake and the mirror are the two most important things in the story. This homeopathic doctor encountered a snake, the snake fell on the doctor. When the snake saw its reflection in the mirror, it was more interesting in that and the doctor’s life was saved.

I sighed. My first VRMMO battle ended in disaster.
Currently, I was hiding inside a hollow tree trunk somewhere in the pitch-black forest, waiting for my magic to recover.

At least my magic recovered over time. I had just a single magic point when I respawned. At the time, I seriously thought there was no way to progress any further.
My body shrank due to losing half my magic, which allowed me to hide within a hollow tree. What should I do now…? If I immediately died again, my character would probably be deleted, right?
The AI said my inventory would be dropped at my point of death, but this Identification Crystal still stayed with me. I wasn't sure why. Perhaps it was because the crystal was a basic item for new players, or perhaps because I kept it inside my body. Anyway, thank god for that.
 
There had been a few discoveries while I was holing up in this tree.
My magic recovered by 1 approximately each hour. I didn't know if this was a flat increase of 1, or if it was a 10% recovery, since my current maximum magic was exactly 10. The things I could do would be different, depending on which it was.
After using [Identification] on a few wild animals passing by my tree, I found out something. If I lost all my magic power, it's over for me, but when normal animals' magic points dropped to zero, they just fainted. They only died when their hit points dropped to zero.
…is this normal?
Next, when normal animals lost some magic points, their combat power still stayed the same. However, their magic points would drop bit by bit when in combat. I didn't know whether it was because they used magic to attack, because combat itself took magic power, or because they strengthened themselves magically.
I saw a snake attacking a squirrel. When the squirrel died, the snake sucked up some kind of mist from its corpse.
I could see pretty well despite the darkness. Was it just how the game was, or was it because I was a monster?
And finally, there was a drone beetle. It approached me, thinking I was some kind of tree sap and I killed it, but I didn't get any stronger.
 
At any rate, I needed to find a way to fight. Judging from appearances, the only things weaker than that caterpillar that I could find were the 'snakes', the 'field mice', and the 'squirrels'.
Which meant that the caterpillar was the weakest monster in this forest. And right now, I was much weaker than it.
Just using my unique skill, [Reroll], to make the caterpillar miss already ate up around 10 of my magic power, so it wasn't practical at the moment.
But there was one good thing that came from that mess. All that desperate running around helped me get used to this body, and the nausea was much more tolerable now.
Not much of a silver lining, really.
Anyway, my next goal was to get strong enough to kill a squirrel.

At first, the squirrel violently resisted. It suffocated and stopped moving after a while, and I absorbed some kind of mist from it. Hmm, I didn't feel anything different…

I swiftly and carefully snuck my way up the tree, back to my old ambush spot. The snake still hadn't noticed me.
My handling of my body had gotten much better. I was probably as fast as that caterpillar now. Not exactly an impressive achievement, I know.
The feeling of being an indistinct mass still made me nauseous, but little by little, it had gotten better. Tolerable, now.
 
I hid myself on the tree and looked down. The 1-meter long snake slithered toward the mouse I killed – oh, wait, another snake showed up.
The two began to intimidate each other over the meal.

Both of them were about the same strength. Perhaps that was why none of them were willing to back off and miss out on a fresh meal. They began fighting.
Both of them twisted, turned, and generally just tried to constrict the other. The fight looked… really boring. After some time, one of them finally landed a bite on the other's neck.
Yup, boring. It kept biting for a while, then won the fight just like that. Again, the winner absorbed the mist-like thing from the loser.

Ooohh crap, it's big. At the moment I only had enough volume to fill a bowl, so I couldn't completely cover the snake.
It retaliated by constricting me, but failed due to my sloppy, doughy body.
And then I felt the snake suddenly heat up. Without warning, it chomped at me in a burst of newly-discovered strength. That hurt quite a bit!

The snake gave a few twitches, which stopped after I covered its head and squeezed. My body sucked in the mist from the corpse.

My guess – huh, it'd been a lot of guessing and hypothesizing, hadn't it? – was that for monsters and animals that had physical bodies, their Total Combat Power enumerated the power they had only when they strengthened themselves with magic, while spiritual life-forms like me always fought with 100% of my Total Combat Power.
I had always thought spiritual life-forms to be weak, but if this hypothesis proved true, I needn't be. Hopefully.

A new VRMMORPG, “World of Yggdrasia”, was recruiting beta testers from all over the world. Ten thousand testers began their journey of swords and sorcery in a new realm, one that was as large as Earth.

“Hehe… we were only joking earlier, don’t mind us! Of course, I’ll take care  of Nick’s situation as well!” Aegnis smiled along, and Belinda immediately  looked at ease. After all, she had asked a favour of Aegnis. 

“Alright, I’ll bring everyone in to go through the formalities,” Aegnis rested  her arm around Belinda’s shoulders, and with her other hand pulling Sophia  along, she did not forget to yell at Thomas, “Kid, why haven’t you apologised  to Sire Nick yet?” 

Seeing what she was doing, Belinda smiled once more, no longer resistant to  her actions. 

“My apologies, Sire Nick!” Watching the backs of the three females walking  ahead, Thomas shouted loudly. 

However, his lips mouthed something else, “You weakling who only knows to rely  on women!” 

Leylin merely shrugged in answer to his provocation and insult and continued  to follow behind Belinda, which left Thomas flabbergasted; it was the first  time he had seen someone so shameless. 

Leaving the stunned Thomas far behind, Leylin followed behind the three ladies  expressionlessly with an air of resignation. In reality, however, he was  snickering in his mind. What glory or reputation did he care for when he was  dying? Was that important? 

The Curse Mark of Ten Thousand Snakes was now eating his life force away, and  he did not have not have many years left. In this situation, would he abandon  such a simple method of entering the city and look for something else? 

Whether he would succeed or not eventually, wasting time on reputation would  be treating his life too lightly. When comparing his life to being taken as a  fellow who could only rely on women, what loss was there for him? 

“You…” Thomas puffed his cheeks out and followed behind them, but could do  nothing against Leylin’s shamelessness. Aegnis, in front, seemed to have  noticed this, and her eyes glinted. 

“Go away, you peasants! Don’t block the path of us noble Stuards!” 

As if trying to vent all the anger he’d gained from Leylin, Thomas flicked a  nine-segmented whip of a snake leader, unceasingly creating crisps ounds and  threatening the group of half-blooded snake beings in front of them. 

*Pila!* Seeing the half-blooded snake beings fearfully separating to two sides  and giving way, Leylin couldn’t help but stroke his chin. It seemed that the  siblings who were in the Stuard family had a rather terrifying reputation in  the holy city. 

“Are you guards blind? Why aren’t you here to welcome us?” 

Immediately after, the guards who had been like fiends and slaughtering people  as they wished instantly came over to help out with Thomas’ call, bringing  Belinda and the rest to the main gate. 

Thomas had his nose in the air as he peeked at Leylin, eyes full of arrogance. 

Leylin merely rolled his eyes in answer. 

In the Magus World, this sort of person would have died several times over  already, but this was the Hail Continent! This was where the descendants of the  Snake Dowager had high statuses, and there were few bloody contests for power  over them. Such a state had continued for tens of thousands of years, and had  even become an iron rule. 

Hence, it was entirely understandable that Thomas who had grown up in a  sheltered environment was acting this way. This was one who had been spoilt by  superior living conditions. 

Leylin obviously would not stoop to the level of weaklings like him. His focus  was now on the sculpture at the main gate. 

“Mm, bloodline appraisal! A test of the soul! Though I’m confident I can pass  through with no problems, the identification proof is a problem. After all, I  can’t invade the holy city’s core database and create a fake history. What I  said before had too many loopholes…” 

Leylin looked slightly gloomy, which Thomas took to be a accomplishment on his  part. 

“You’re very lucky! You should know that very few half bloods like you can  stay in the holy city for a full year!” 

Thomas jeered at him disdainfully, “Of course, you might not even be able to  handle the living expenses here… But even if you stay here for a short period  of time, it’s enough for you to shine in the Hail Continent, or… You can write  this in your diary, and some low-ranked bloodlines might be attracted…” 

“Thomas, that’s enough!” Evidently, even Aegnis could not watch on any longer. 

Of course, Leylin had strong suspicions that Aegnis only felt that Thomas was  bringing shame to the Stuard family with his words, which was why she got him  to stop. 

“Come, Belinda, and adorable little Sophia! This is the residence permit that  I especially requested for you. As long as you bind it to your bloodline and  soul, you will be recognised as free citizens of the holy city!” 

Aegnis smiled slightly, producing two jade-green crystal cards. From the  envious gazes from the half- or even pure-blooded snake beings, they should be  amazing items. 

“Thank you so much, Aegnis!” Belinda took the crystal card. With this  identification, she could join organisations under the Snake Dowager’s command.  Trial’s Eye would not be so brazen and might even automatically withdraw the  order of her arrest. 

“Then… how about Brother Nick?” Sophia bit at her fingers, finding that  something was off. 

“Sire Nick? When Belinda contacted me, she didn’t mention it, so I didn’t  prepare it…” 

Aegnis rubbed at her feelings as if embarrassed, “Permanent residence permits  are hard to take care of in the holy city, so…” 

Seeing that Belinda seemed to be on the verge of flaring up, Aegnis shook her  hands, “ThoughI didn’t get a permanent residence permit, I still have a  temporary certification! It’s for ten years, which should be enough for Sire  Nick. In these ten years, I’m sure he can handle the procedures for his  identification!” 

“This… Nick…” Belinda peeked at Leylin slightly embarrassed. She had obviously  noticed that Aegnis was purposely making things difficult for him. 

“Sire Nick, a ten year certification is already very rare! For half-blooded  snake beings who provide services for us residents of holy residents, their  certification needs to be changed daily in order to prevent any tarnish to our  noble holy city!” 

Thomas, who was at the side, snorted. 

“That’s enough! Thank you very much, Lady Aegnis!” Leylin smiled slightly,  taking another residence permit from her. 

Ten years was enough time. 

In the holy city, where the Snake Dowager’s radiations were the most  concentrated, with the the Curse Mark of Ten Thousand Snakes increasing in  intensity, Leylin would probably be reduced to pile of bones if he could not  solve the bloodline shackles within ten years. 

Compared to Belinda and Sophis who had permanent residence permits, his own  was duller, though there were intricate runes and concealing techniques on it. 

“This pattern… Even with a sample, it’s not easy for the A.I. Chip to make  another one. On top of that… what’s more troublesome is the soul and bloodline  binding!” 

Leylin’s eyes flashed. 

“Alright! Since you three now have the pass, please bind it to you. If the  permits are lost, things will get very troublesome, so please keep it well and  love them as you love your eyes!” 

Aegnis spoke with an accent. 

“The binding ceremony is very simple. Drip a droplet of blood and then use  your spiritual force to scan the detection runes!” 

With Aegnis’ guidance, Belinda was the first and dripped her blood onto the  crystal card. Once the dark red liquid touched the card, it was like water  reaching sponge and was absorbed. 

In the next instant, the whole green crystal card shone brilliantly and with  flowing luster, Belinda’s image emerged. 

“Boo hoo… Sister, Sophia’s afraid of pain!” Hearing that she had to bleed,  Sophia’s eyes were full of fear. 

Such a pitiful stance immediately had Aegnis on the verge of turning into a  big bad wolf. 

“Keke… don’t be afraid, little sister. Let your big sister help you!” 

Aegnis, who was watching, only seemed to shock Sophia and bit at her finger to  complete the binding process. Aegnis watched on with regret. 

When Leylin was done with the procedure too, with Aegnis in the lead, they  passed through a round arched door. Of course, there were sculptures ahead.

The miniature sculptures were even more intricate. They were made of some  crystals similar to rocks, and especially the faces were carved very vividly,  their eyes seeming to be connected to some enigmatic soul 

Belinda and Sophia passed by, and the sculpture produced green and tender rays.  [Currently concealing with bloodline of Alabaster Devilsnake. Beast spirit  undulations covering. "Eh?" Lin Jie suddenly discovered a strange rainbow-colored flower right in the center of those swamp monsters—it was as gorgeous as the rainbow. That was the Yimi Flower, a material needed to create Epic or even Legendary potions.

In the next 12 hours, Lin Jie hid at his original spot and continued observing. Alpistin would appear once every four hours to grab the herbs—those materials were naturally used to recover his body.

Alpistin was slightly stunned, but he took the letter and identification token. After observing carefully, he crushed the two items.
Lin Jie's heart skipped a beat from astonishment, and he immediately ran away! However, at that moment, the huge crescent axe was already chopping down towards Lin Jie!

A blood shower, painting the rock and earth. The monster stood looking at half of his chest. Some ribs and meat are dangling. 

He wanted to make a coherent speech, but couldn't then he died just like that.

I intend to make a friend with him. He might be our guardian angel. And I help him evolve. But he has to choose the death path.



My ability is still mysterious, but I learn how to use it on the battlefield. 

Here is how it works

I activate the ability, (becoming intangible)
I enter a beast body, then deactivating the ability (becoming tangible)

If I'm inside a solid structure with my ability active. I can move around easily. But the moment I turn it off I will be expelled. As if squeezing water out of a container. 


The deeper I'm, the stronger the force. Also, if I force the ability to turn off quickly, then the explosion will be greater.


I use that to make myself prepell to air or any direction of the explosion. 


After gaining certain understandings, I can resist the expulsion for a moment, depending on the strength of the substances.



If it's water, I can easily become tangible, without a puss. But hard ground or other substance I can hold for only a few seconds to minutes, but this will increase the force of expelling.

A living thing, like this unfortunate beast, was somehow easy to resist. And because of that, the place I latch myself will burst open, allowing my intangibility to realize.

I have the flock fight the snakes. After cleaning the mess. My plans were set in motion.

List of activities needed as soon as possible;
Making a large cave on one of the largest rocks in the vicinity.
Small caves on other rocks.
Identification of suitable locations for raising earthworms.
Identification of all the plants in the vicinity, whether edible or not
Scouts training, which is the most important.

"ASSEMBLE" I chirp to the best of my ability. Yet I went to each one of them dragging them to the location of the giant rock.


I repeat "assemble" while looking at each one of them. Again and again, repeatedly until they began to show signs of tiredness.

I turn around looking at the rock, then start to peck it. None of them mimic me, they do look at me as an idiot attacking a rock.



That did not bother me, they will not understand it even if I tell them what I want. So by showing they will gradually gut to understand.



I make them peck it by force. By the end of the day, there was a little hole, but another problem became clear. Pecking the rock to make a cave is doable but sometimes, either side of the rock will crack and eventually fall. That means the cave will not be stable.



Well! It's not like there was no solution to this. I just have to use the snake venom to corrode the rocks before breaking the soft part.

Other to-do lists I left it out for now. We eat grains or other insects if we are hungry. Water is abundant, but when a large beast comes we hide. 

If it's avian I deal with it. So far so good no major mishaps.

Today marks our Twenty-first day in the Oasis. The cave was completed to my liking. It's about two hundred and five clawsquar. We have been sleeping inside every night.



They try to stop pecking after a big enough cave was formed, but I refuse to let them.



We get a lot of snake venom from the surrounding desert. So our activities were accelerated.



I also made them make a ditch where water will enter the cave. At the back of the cave, a small pond was made.



The pond is eight claws deep and seventy-five clawsquare. The canal follows the cave walls so that it will not hinder movement. I look for flat pebbles and cover the canals.



At the cave entrance, we put heavy large boulders, in case of the rainy season the water will not flow inside. So, we jump on the boulder before we enter.

While making a cave all the time, there are some times that we do something else. I make them gather all the earthworms, they can find.


I locate a site where there is a lot of moist soil. After the earthworms are gathered I spray some of my blood on them. 



The earthworms do not just proliferate but also become larger and aggressive. The surrounding plant becomes dense but any insect that gets closer will disappear. This happens only after two days of earthworms' transformation.




To prevent them from digging through the earth aimlessly. We make ditches that are eleven claws deep surrounding them. We also put rocks from the cave in the ditch. The rocks have venom on them. But some earthworms still leave the area. 



Every morning we go hunting on an earthworm farm. Then we came and continued cave making.



Another thing we do is; gathering leaves and broken branches in a hole we make. And in the hole we excrete feces. By the time it's filled we closed it with soil. I'm planting some promising plants on it later.

Now that the big cave is done, a smaller cave follows. It did not take long before we finished.  



Identification of edible plants was not successful, most of them got sick. But since I'm here things return to normal.



Scout training was the most tedious and frustrating to me. And after weeks of training, only one was able to do a good job.



She was the previous leader of the four, and the smartest among my community. 


Before the big dumb crow, She understands waking up early morning and survey the vicinity, she also clucks at me if there is an unknown beast. 


I managed to train them not to make noise early in the morning until she finished her scouting.
