A normal high school girl which has 4 talented and intelligent brothers. Her teachers expect the best from her. During her last year of high school, she was the head prefect and the top student in school. With her intelligence, no one expect her to be stuck in a complex romance.

"No luck, but a miracle I need." I murmured.
A little later ...
The lady went to the desk, left the bag and asked,
-You are our new student, right? Come on.
- My name is Christina Nelson. I think it does not concern you where I come from. They chased away from my old school, because I broke a boy's nose.
All eyes were in me. A girl came into this memo. It looked like an awesome Angel. Her lady signaled to sit.
"Do you want the place to be free?" She asked me.

That's how it all started ...

In the next day, Kosuke was considering whether or not he would join the club. They seemed to be nice guys, and Kosuke was slowly getting hooked up on literature. He had realized if it was the "old" him he would just ignore that argument they had back in the class about the book. He could see that he changed a little bit in the way he acted. Was it because of her sister? Perhaps.
He woke up by the voice of his sister again.

"Wake up. It's time for school.", she said.

"Ok, I'll get dressed.", he said.

He got the school uniform on, and went downstairs where a delicious breakfast was waiting for him. He spaced out again, thinking whether or not he should join the club, because if he did he would be spending less time with his sister, as he had to be in club for at least a hour or so after school.
Ayaka realized that he spaced out and wanted to know what was on his thoughts so she could help him.

"What's going on, Kosuke?", she asked.

"Nothing.", he tried to hide.

"Kosuke, are you trying to hide from me?", she asked, slightly mad.

"Well…", he mumbled.

"Say it.", Ayaka said, patting his head.

"I met yesterday a group of people that were talking about a book I bought like a week ago. And I made my opinion about the book before I realized. Then they said they were from the literature club and we started talking about novels and introduced ourselves before we know it. Then they invited me to come take a look at the club, and even consider joining them.", Kosuke said.

"Well, why not?", Ayaka asked.

"I would need to be in school until later, in the end of classes and I'm not too much into literature.", Kosuke said.

"It's not required to be into literature, it's just that you need to like it. And from what I understood, you do. And being a hour or so more late wouldn't bother, I mean it would even help you.", Ayaka advised.

"But…", Kosuke mumbled.

"It's okay, besides I'm happy that you finally got some friends to talk with. Before, you were a lone wolf.", Ayaka said, with a slightly grin at the end.

"Sis...", Kosuke mumbled in embarrassment.

Kosuke realized now that there was no reason for him to worry about. He could just go to literature club if he wanted.
He grabbed his school bag and went to school.
 
The morning classed passed on, fast it was time for lunch.
In front of him there was the group of literature club. 
They looked to Kosuke.

"So have you thought about joining us?", Sakura asked.

"Yeah, here is the entering request papers.", Kosuke said.

"Okay, I'll be taking it then.", said Sakura getting the papers.

"Are you the club president?", Kosuke asked.

"Yeah… In the first day those two couldn't stop arguing…", said Sakura looking at the other two boys with a slightly mad face.

"I'll be looking forward to the club.", Kosuke said.

The classes ended before Kosuke even realized. It was time for going to the literature club. Sakura, Shinoda and Saito were waiting for him. They all went together to the club, as they were from the same class. Sakura got a board to start what it seemed like a meeting in a firm. She wrote "Romcom vs Rom". 

"Romcom, what's your opinion about them?", asked Sakura.

"A more easy way to do romance.", said Yosuke.

"A more comedic approach to romance.", said Kazuya.

"I'm not sure, I never read one.", Kosuke said.

"Don't mind that genre it's just a bad romance put in a book.", Yosuke said, disconsiderating the work put in those books.

"Yosuke!", Kazuya said, fuming.

"You two calm down…", Sakura warned them.

Kosuke could see that was common for those two have fights. They had different taste that would eventually lead to different opinions. The rest of the first day in the club carried on. Sakura recommended Kosuke a romance book, so he could get a better and more informed opinion about literature. 
Back in Kosuke's home, Ayaka was bored, twiddling her thumbs, but still happy that her brother got friends to talk. It was a bittersweet feeling that she was having.
Sakura asked to Kosuke stay a little bit more, so she could talk to him about something, in private. Kosuke made a parallelism about the scene that happened in the romance that he read. Was she going to confess him? But she just met him… Impossible, he thought.
Sakura realized the embarrassment he had, so she decided to rag him.

"I wanted to ask you…", she said making a pause on her words.

Sakura got a moment and took a breath to make it look like a confession scene.
Kosuke was complete caught up in the atmosphere. He got deceived.

"If you are Okamoto-sensei's brother.", Sakura said, completely destroying the climax she created. 
 
Kosuke felt relieved, for some reason.

"I am.", he said, sighing.

"How is she doing? I saw her falling in ground, she looked stressed.", she said, worried about her.

"Well she is better now, but she's taking a break from teaching.", Kosuke said.

"What happened to her?", Sakura asked, with a wholesome worry in her eyes.

"Stress, and anxiety, you know, psychology stuff…", Kosuke said.

"I accidentally seen your address it isn't too far away from my home… Can I go say hi to her?", Sakura said.

"«accidentally», oi! Come if you want…", Kosuke said.

So that's what they did, after a long walk and a train ride, they got to Kosuke's home were Ayaka awaited him. She got surprised that one of their students came to visit her. They talked for an hour or so, about literature and how the school was doing. Eventually, Sakura had to go.
Ayaka realized that Kosuke was in a good group were he could find good friends. She was happy, but still worried, for some reason. She been only thinking about his brother. And the happiness and the smile Sakura made to Kosuke was making her slightly mad and envious, she didn't knew why, though.

An high school student by the name of Okamoto Kosuke was a person whom often distances himself from the world around him. He lives with his sister named Okamoto Ayaka, who is a teacher and does the exact opposite of him

After Gin and the news crew got the information, they went towards their own classes and Gin got to his.

Dilan: Welcome back, Gin, I have heard from the principal so just get back to your seat and we can begin.

Gin: Okay! {So many things just happend, first I meet the girl Ilia, who is friends with Blake! Wait, has they became friends or is it after? Nevermind, and then a tournament is soon gonna be held between academy..... I wonder if Wiess gonna be enter?}

While Gin was in thoughts, Dilan started to make an announcement.

Dilan: Students, If I may have your attention, the principal have talked to the other academy's and they all agreed to make an tournament!

Student1: Tournament?

Dilan: Yes, where each class group to participate and show the sportsmanship for each other.

Student2: Ohh yeah!!! Let's show the other academy that Signal Academy is the best!

Student3: Yeah!

Dilan tried to explain to the students about the rules and told them that they have a week to decide which they want to team up with.

Gin: {Now that I think about it, which one can can I team up with?}

Gin was in a pickle, he barley knows anyone from the academy, but he had someone in mind.

Gin: {I probably could ask Yang, but I guess she already have a team.}

While Gin was thinking, James approach him with a smile on his face.

James: Hey Gin, let's team up!

Gin was suprised when he heard James and asked him if he is sure to be teammates.

James: Of course, being in a team with you should be easy cake in the upcoming tournament, I mean, you are stupid strong after all!

Gin: Hahaha..... if you are sure about it, let's do this!

James: Oh yeah, this is gonna be awesome, all we need now is two girl teammates!

Gin: Huh, why girls?

James put his hand in front of Gin and took out his pointy finger and shakes it back and forward.

James: Tsk tsk tsk, Gin of course we need girls in our team, that way we might find some... hidden romance on the way.

Gin was confused, but then he relised that James were cursed, and wanted a romance with a girl so bad.

Gin: {System, how do I remove the curse from James?}

System: You have tree options,
1st: Find a female student who is interested in James as a teammate.
2nd: Train him, to the point that he will forget about romance. (4 Hours straight)
3rd: Force him to eat the one thing he hate the most. (Raw Radishes)

Gin: {Hmm, the second sound like something I can do, but what with the 3rd option, Raw Radish?}

While Gin was thinking about how to cure James, the person in question were going over to Yang, and asked her if she want to join.

Yang: That sounds swell..... but I will have to give you an answer another time.

James: Huh, why.

Yang: Well, something is up with Ruby, I don't know why, but she is getting depressed over nothing these days.

James: Really, she looks like she is fine, the happy go lucky girl I know.

Yang: I know something is up, I can sense it!

Gin walked over and heard Yang talk about Ruby.

Gin: Is there anything we can do Yang?

Yang: Hmm, perhaps there is something you can do Gin!

Gin: Really? What!

Yang: Meet me tomorrow after school, and I will show you.

Gin: Okay.

While class was over Gin was about to leave towards his dorm, until James remembered something.

James: Oh yeah, Gin! Jin wanted to meet you after school today, I kinda forgot to tell you!

Gin: Hmm, Okay, where should I go?

James told him the location and Gin went towards the woods behind the school, while Gin was searching for Jin, he saw someone training in an open field in the woods.

Gin: Hey, Jin!

When Jin heard someone call for him, he stopped his training and took a towel that was laying on the ground.

Jin: Hey, Gin, glad you could make it.

Gin: Is it here you train everyday, looks pretty good, so why did you call for me.

Jin: For us to fight each other!

Gin: What?!

I’m not the best guy, who can use grammar flawlessly, I kinda suck at it, my story might be a bit awkward sometimes, but will try my best and I hope you stick around while I evolve to be better, I learn as I go. :)

One moment a high school girl could be seen chasing after an adorable white bunny on school grounds, and the next second she was falling down a large rabbit hole, a terrifying scream ripping from the girl's throat as everything around her turned into a sparkle galaxy space full with color as if she was soaring through space. 
"Wait a minute...! What on Earth is going on?!" screamed the girl, who was suddenly engulfed in a bright, blinding light before everything went dark.
In the darkness of her subconscious, the girl heard voices calling out to her, voices that for some reason felt familiar to her despite this being her first time hearing them.
 Heavy eyelids opened themselves only to see a cute boy, between the ages of nine and ten, standing next to her bed, holding her hand. Seeing this unfamiliar face, the girl on the bed though to herself,
'Who's this cute boy? ...And why does he seem so familiar to me?'
"I can't believe that tyrant actually pushed you into the lake! If you weren't saved in time, you could've drowned!" ranted the teary-eyed boy, who was obviously upset about something.
Deciding to sit herself up, the girl did just that, only to feel that there was something different about her body. Looking down at her hands she noticed that they were smaller, not only that, but her body also felt as if it had shrunk.
Instantly the girl threw the covers off her body and ran to the nearest full-length mirror in the room. Her actions shocked those who were present and worriedly raced to her side. 
"Sister, what's wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?" fretfully asked the boy, though the girl paid him no mind, too stunned to even notice his concern.
In the reflection of the pearl-encrusted pink mirror there stared a girl between the ages of five and six, soft cinnamon brown tresses touching her waist. Eyes, the color of emeralds, displayed incredulity at the new situation she had just found herself in. 'Oh my god...'
The little girl's face blanched, raising her shaky pair of hands, cupping her chubby cheeks. 'I actually transmigrated into another world! So cliché!' She exclaimed before promptly passing out on the floor, causing all those in the room to panic once again.

"...aria... Maria... Maria!" 
Once again, large emerald eyes revealed themselves, something which brought relief to those in the room. Rushing to the bed where the girl lied was the same boy from last time and the girl noted that unlike herself, this boy had dark blonde hair but shared emerald eyes just like her own. Her eyes linger on the boy for a few seconds when suddenly memories begin filling her head, memories that most likely belonged to the original host of this body.
The memory that stuck out the most was that of a girl, the same one whose reflections she saw in the mirror, attending a party, and pestering another smaller boy who the original host seemed to be infatuated with.
It seems the boy in her memories got fed up with the girl constantly pestering and rashly pushed her into the lake nearby. The poor girl would have drowned if she wasn't saved in time.
'That jerk!' frowned the little girl on the bed. Seeing such an expression on his cute little sister's face, the boy once again reached for his sister's hands.
"Don't worry, Maria, your big-brother will make that crown prince pay for hurting you!" vowed the brave boy, who was clearly upset that someone dared harm his precious little sister. Despite hearing such brave words, Maria almost fell out of her bed in shock to hear the person from the memories she receives was actually a crown prince?!
'Stay calm! At least you're not dead.' Maria constantly told herself, placing a fake smile on her face, grateful that this host had such a caring big brother.
"Thank-you, big-brother, but there is no need to take revenge for me. It's best that we just forget about this situation. Besides, I was the one at fault." The girl on the bed smiled, unaware of how her reply shocked those in the room.
'Besides, it was the original host's fault for pestering a freaking crown prince! Jeez, that spoiled little girl reminds me of that annoying ojou-sama character from that reverse harem light novel I didn't get to finish reading.' 
Maira couldn't help but think back to one of the characters of the reverse harem story she was in the middle of reading before she got transported into this world.
The name of the light novel was called, A Fairytale Romance, set in a fantasy magical world, where those who have magic and nobility were sent to a well-renowned and prestigious school that taught students how to hone their magic and become outstanding individuals. 
The story started off with the heroine, the daughter of a baron, entering the middle school division of Diamond Academy. In the beginning, the heroine was registered as a light magic user and was hinted to be a member of some type of rare ancient race.
Of course, the story wouldn't be a reverse harem without extremely attractive guys who all fell in love with the heroine. Upon entering the school, the heroine encounters the male lead for the first time in a very cliche fashion scene, creating a bud that slowly bloomed into romance. 
Along the way, the crown prince wasn't the only one to fall in love with the heroine, but there were three others who fell under her charm.
Besides the crown prince, there were three other male characters who were introduced in the novel and came from influential noble families and were always lending a hand to the female lead whenever she was caught in trouble created by the long list of female villainesses who despised her. 
"It seems ojou-sama no longer has a fever,"
Maria was brought out of her thoughts when she felt a hand touch her forehead. Looking at who that hand belonged to, she saw a pretty girl in a short maid dress with short black hair and matching cat ears that stood on top of her head. 
"But just to be on the safe side, ojou-sama should try some of the medicine that the house doctor prescribed for her."
Standing on the opposite side of her bed, holding two blue tablets in the palm of her hand, was another pretty maid, yet this one had long white hair with matching cat ears on top of her head. Looking at the two maids, Maria was once again reminded of that same ojou-sama character from, A Fairytale Romance.
In the novel, there was a long list of villainous characters who tried to compete with the heroine to win the male lead's love. Yet there was one villainess that stood out and wasn't because she ruthlessly and vicious, but because she was an idiot, a comic relief character than an actual villainess.
Always at her side were two neko-maids, who always comforted her when one of her plans either backfired or caused the male lead to become angry with her.
After taking the pills, Maria searched the room and realized how big it was, filled with nice and girly pink furniture. Even the four-poster pink European bed she was lying on was huge. The type of room that belonged to a rich noble daughter who hailed from the upper-class of society.
 
'Seems I transmigrated into a rich girl,' Maria told herself when once again the door to her room was slammed opened as bursting into the room was a gorgeous busty beauty, who dashed over onto the bed and engulfed her small body in a tight warm hug.
"My darling little Maria! Are you okay? Don't worry, mommy will watch over you and make sure you get better!" tearfully proclaimed the gorgeous woman, who had long wavy cinnamon brown-hair that went past her waist and bright emerald eyes.
In the midst of her mind, Maria couldn't help but think. 'Wow, okaa-sama's got some big oppai!'
"Don't worry, my darling little Maria. Mommy and Daddy will get you justice! Tonight that crown prince went too far. How dare he do that to my daughter! You could've lost your life!" fussed her angry mother, whose emerald eyes screamed vengeance.
Smiling softly, Maria placed her hands on top of her mother's and said,
"Mother, please calm down. It was me who was at fault. I kept pestering the crown prince even though he doesn't like me. So it makes sense that he would get mad. Both of us are at fault, so let's just drop this matter. I do not wish to bring harm to anyone."
Once again, those in the room found themselves shocked, usually, their young lady would be bawling tears or throwing a tantrum. Meanwhile in the mind of Maria, 
'The dude already hates me, don't make it worse by trying to get revenge. I want to live peacefully in this world before I can find out how to get back home. Please, mom and big-bro don't make it hard on me.'
Both mother and son couldn't help but stare at the young girl on the bed, before sharing a look with each other, reaching some sort of understanding as they looked towards her again.
"Okay, if you don't want this matter brought up again then we won't bring it up." Her mother ran a reassuring hand through her daughter's cinnamon-brown tresses.
"You must not want to make things hard on yourself before entering the Elementary School Division at Diamond Academy. With the crown prince's attitude and reputation, he would no doubt try and bully you if we pressed harder on this matter. Don't worry, my little cub, Mommy will go talk to Daddy." 
Her mother smiled and kissed her forehead before leaving the room. 'W-Wait a minute, did she just say Diamond Academy? No way, I must be hearing things,' Maria tried to reassure herself that she heard wrong, only to have her brother speak up and crush all her hopes.
"Don't worry, lil sis, your big-brother will definitely protect you. I won't let anyone at Diamond Academy bully you."
Her brother smile was truly charming and could probably attract many noble girls and women, despite his young age. Yet Maria paid no mind, seeing how she was in the middle of a mental breakdown.
'Diamond Academy! The same name of the academy in, A Fairytale Romance...?!' Ignoring the maids and her brother who were in the room, Maria buried her face in her hands.
'Crap. I got transmigrated into, A Fairytale Romance... as the comic relief female villain. Life, you are too cruel!' mentally wept Maria.

One moment I'm chasing after a rabbit and the next, I'm falling down a rabbit hole! What the heck?! This ain't Alice in Wonderland?! Though as I opened my eyes, I soon found out that I was no longer in my original body and that somehow I transmigrated into the light novel, A Fairytale Romance. And that isn't all, the character whose body I transmigrated into... is none other than the minor stuck-up, arrogant, and selfless ojou-sama who was nothing more than a comic relief character. Life truly sucks...

Keeley ended up splashing around in the water and tried boogeyboarding with her sons. Violet did it exactly once before giving up because she biffed it and got water up her nose. Aaron, surprisingly, was the best out of everyone at it.
"Wow, Dad! Show me how you did that!" Oliver said excitedly after Aaron managed to ride a wave all the way to shore.
"Honestly, I'm not sure how I did it but I can give it another shot," he replied with a shrug. 
It definitely wasn't a fluke because he managed to do it four more times in a row. After that all three of the boys looked at him with something akin to awe. They begged him to help them go all the way too.
At that point Keeley rejoined her daughter on the sand. She was sipping an alcohol-free pina colada and was back to her book.
"I've only ever seen you read mystery novels," Violet said after a while. "Do you not like romance?"
She nearly snorted. She hadn't touched a romance novel since was she originally eighteen years old. First it was because she didn't have time and then because she was too disappointed in how her own love had turned out.
Even after her love life was flowing smoothly following her remarriage and re-falling in love with Aaron she still couldn't stomach them. They were so unrealistic and gave people unfair hopes. Real love didn't work like it did in novels.
A wry half-smile appeared on her face. "I had my heart broken a long time ago. That kind of turned me off from romance novels and chick flicks forever."
Violet appeared intrigued. Her mother had never talked about any previous boyfriends before. "Who was it?"
Well that was one question she couldn't answer honestly. She wasn't about to ruin her daughter's opinion of her father.
"A boy I met in high school. He had a rough home life and didn't know how to be in a relationship so in the end it didn't work out. I was bitter about it for a long time. That was probably way it took your dad a while to win me over," Keeley said with a touch of irony.
It took him so long to win her over because she wasn't sure she could trust him again. After that it was fear about Lacy Knighton and Alistair Hale that kept her heart closed off even once he was her best friend again. It took the woman getting murdered for Keeley to realize what she should have months before: that she was still hopelessly in love with her husband.
"I had no idea it took Dad time to win your heart. You guys are so perfect together I figured it must  have always been that way," Violet said before taking another slurp from her straw.
Keeley shook her head, feeling a bit sheepish.
"No, it took us a while. I met him during the last half of my senior year of high school and wasn't open to love at all because of what happened before. We were apart for five and a half years before meeting up again. Even then he still had to work pretty hard to convince me to give him a chance."
Violet laughed. "Someone should make a romance novel out of your love story. I bet people would eat it up."
Ah, if only she knew. There was already a telenovela about it. But nobody knew that except for her. It was a secret she managed to keep from Aaron somehow after all these years. She didn't see the point in bringing it up and hurting his feelings unnecessarily.
"People do tend to like a persistent male lead, don't they?" Keeley asked lightly. "Your father is probably the most patient person I've ever met. He wanted only me and did everything imaginable to make that happen."
"I wish someone would love me that much." Her daughter sighed dreamily before continuing. 
"The book I'm reading is kind of like that too. The characters were apart for more than ten years because she accidentally gave him the wrong phone number. It was one digit off. But he never stopped loving her and ended up finding her again as she was engaged to a jerk."
That sounded like a classic romance novel to Keeley. She didn't think Violet was sentimental enough to enjoy that sort of thing though. She was normally so studious.
When she was younger she read a lot of historical fiction and fantasy novels. This romance novel phase was definitely a more recent development. Well, she was at a very romantic age.
Keeley had to wonder though. Violet said she wanted someone to love her as much as Aaron loved Keeley. Did she not realize Noah's feelings?
It was fairly obvious to both the Hale and Singleton parents that Noah's childish obsession with Violet as a playmate had evolved into an actual crush as he got older. The type of love she was talking about what mushy, sentimental, and supportive. A best friend relationship.
Aside from the mushiness…didn't she already have that with Noah? The boy went to every recital or concert she ever had and always showed up with flowers. How had she not realized her best friend liked her?
"Vi, I don't mean to pry into your business…but do you like Noah?" Keeley asked gently. 
The shock on her daughter's face was genuine. "Are you crazy?! Liking Noah is basically the same thing as liking Kaleb!"
Ah, the poor kid. He was going to get his hopes crushed. Keeley and Jennica had talked about it before. It was completely obvious he liked Violet as more than a friend.
For his sake, she hoped it passed soon and he was able to find someone who liked him back but at the same time…what would happen to her innocent 'I only need one person' daughter when Noah eventually fell in love with someone else?
"He's my best friend," Violet continued. "You don't fall in love with your best friend."
She sounded so certain and yet…it was a large part of the reason she was alive right now. Discounting all of the reincarnation stuff that came later, Keeley never would have married Aaron the first time if they hadn't already been best friends.
She couldn't say that now though since she had already told her daughter that it took time for him to win her over. After all this time, keeping her lies straight about who knew what from which lifetime was still confusing.
The only person who know the whole truth, oddly enough, was Aiden. Aaron had told her how he figured it out on his own the day Oliver was born. That had been shocking to say the least
Although he didn't know everything Aaron did because he had been too embarrassed to share how badly he screwed up with the woman he loved. But he was the only other person alive who knew about their double reincarnation.


Keeley, a simple plain Jane, hits the jackpot.  [No, she did not win the lottery!]  At least that's what she thinks when she marries the most eligible bachelor in New York City: Aaron, a wealthy cold-hearted heartthrob and Tycoon.

How come she had never seen him before?

And most importantly, why did her very soul tremble when she saw him?

The questions circled around in her mind and the answers weren't forthcoming.

It would be understandable if the boy was extremely handsome and charming like the protagonists of the romance novels she so frequently read.

But, he was as far away from her mental image of how a romance novel protagonist should look as could be.

He wasn't tall. He wasn't dressed any differently than any other student. He definitely wasn't handsome.

Neither did he have an aura of pathos which might have attracted her.

In fact, he had a smug smirk plastered all over his face when she had laid her eyes upon him.

But… but that feeling… like electricity running up her spine.

It was unforgettable. She had to know more about him.

Turning to the chauffeur smartly dressed in a black suit that was driving the car, she requested, "Uncle, can you get me the information of a boy in my school for me? Noting the pattern on his tie, he is either in my year or the year below. Also, you can't miss him… his looks are extremely… unique."

The chauffeur who had been in their family for over a decade and watched her grow up, raised an eyebrow. "Milady, you'll have to be a little more specific than that."

"Uhh. How to put it… he is quite ugly. The thing is, I don't remember anyone transferring to the school in the recent years and his looks are quite eye-catching. I was just curious as to who he was."

The chauffeur nodded. "Do you want a hard copy of his file or do you want me to email a softcopy to you?"

"I'd like a hard copy, please. You know I don't like to read electronic documents."

"I'll have it sent to your room by tonight."

"Thank you, Uncle," said Ananya with a bright smile.

If anyone at the school saw her smile, they would be surprised as her standard expression there was an icy poker face.

Finally arriving at the Adhikari mansion, the car stopped at the gate to register its credentials with the security guards before continuing on.

Ananya's father was the owner of Adhikari enterprises, a chain of property dealers and private schools, one of which was the school at which Aman studied.

Ananya's mother had passed away when she was very young and she remembered little of her. She only knew that her father had loved her mother enough that he had refused to remarry. As the only child of her father, there was a lot of pressure on her to perform.

And indeed, most of her day was spent shuttling from one lesson to another. Music, dance, tuitions in various subjects and even mixed martial arts. All of this alongside being groomed to take over the company in the future.

It was no wonder that she had developed an aura of superiority when she dealt with her peers. Many looked up to her as their idol.

You would expect her to be frustrated with her regulated life. Stifled by the pressure.

Well, you would be half right.

She had felt that way. Once.

Watching her peers enjoy themselves while she had to 'play that piece again on her violin because she had used too much vibrato and competitions heavily penalized that' had caused her to snap and complain tearfully to her father.

"You don't love me." She had said. "Your company is more important for you."

He had only replied. "Meet the goals that have been set for you and you can request anything you want. As long as it is in my power, I won't refuse."

So, she had worked extra hard that month and exceeded all her teachers' expectations.

She had made only one request. "Accompany me for the whole week. It's my birthday on Tuesday."

She had expected to be refused. Her father was a busy man and in this fast paced world, a lot could happen in a week without him helming the company.

He had only nodded.

That week was the happiest she had been.

The week after the saddest. Watching her father run off caffeine and only two hours of sleep a day as he struggled to make up for missed time, his dark circles growing deeper each day had left her with a profound impression.

Now, meeting expectations had become a habit. Exceeding them, her pride.

The car pulled over in the parking lot and she got off, thanking the chauffeur.

Kicking off her shoes and putting them in the shoe rack, she exchanged them for comfortable slippers before climbing the stairs to her room.

Throwing her bag onto a chair, she dived face first into the bouncy mattress before rolling around on it.

It was only in her room that she could relax fully.

Flipping onto her back, she took a look around her room.

Pastel shades dominated the décor with a pale pink being the dominant colour.

Stuffed toys were scattered all over her bed and her room. If there was anything that could be called her hobby, it was handmade stuffed toys.

Her collection included works from all around the world in all sorts of materials and styles.

But her favourite one was the worn-out five-foot teddy bear that had followed her since she was but a baby. According to her father, it had been bought for her by her mother.

One of the few signs of her ever having existed.

Grabbing the bear by one of its paws, she hugged it and rolled around on her bed some more as she tried to figure out what was wrong with her.

Frustrated at the utter lack of answers, she got up with a huff and went over to her book collection.

There weren't many titles on the shelf but what were there were inevitably from the romance genre.

Pulling out a slim paperback, she flipped to the page number she remembered.

The book read:

"… as the transfer student walked in with confident strides, the entire class grew still. When he turned around, our eyes met and I felt a tingle run up my spine.

"It was then that I knew. I was in love."

Ananya snapped the book shut and replaced it.

It had always been one of her least favourite reads. The plot device of love at first sight had felt so contrived to her... the only reason she had continued was because she liked the personality of the main character.

But reading it again… wasn't it the same feeling she had today?

Was this possible? Could she be a victim of cupid's errant arrow?

Her father had put no restrictions on her future partner unlike the fathers of every second female scion she read about in her novels.

In his words. "The reason I made this company wasn't so I would be fettered by it but rather empowered by it."

But, though her young heart yearned for romance, she had found none outside her books.

The reason for this was self-evident.

None were worthy.

Her collection of medals, trophies and certificates could fill several shelves.

She had excellent genetics since birth and with the resources her father wielded, it was a simple matter to make up her deficiencies.

Why? Just recently, someone had sold off four whole agility stats to the grey market's genetic hospital, which was just what she had needed to reach a perfect 10 in all fields.

Like Gene Extraction, to a much lesser extent Gene Fusion also damaged the soul. So, she had to recuperate between each successive session.

Also, there were a lot of people with cash and genes of the desired types were quite scarce so she had been quite lucky to get her hands on those four agility genes.

She was currently recuperating from her operation and so, for the next few days, she wouldn't have to attend her dancing or MMA classes, leaving her with free time.

Also, she had been pre-evaluated and she was scheduled to join the Indian Institute of Eugenics, come fall.

With this string of qualifications, whenever she tried to look at the boys she knew through rose-tinted glasses, all she saw were disappointments.

Thus, she had gained a reputation of untouchability and being cold and proud.

But this cold and proud princess was perplexed today and the one who was the cause for this was one of the ugliest boys she had seen.

Taking out her phone, her fingers flew over the screen, typing out a query for the search engine.

The resulting answer was:

"Cacophilia, from (Greek. Cacos meaning bad or unpleasant), is the growing phenomenon observed specially among the upper class of society. It is the love or appreciation of all things ugly. Psychologists state that this inversion of aesthetics is a result of human predisposition to consider rare things precious.

"As gene transfer becomes common and the overall genetic scores keep rising due to several government policies encouraging people above the genetic median score of 25/50 to reproduce and discouraging those with scores below, the attractiveness index of the population rises in tandem.

"Cacophilia is a trend that has shown up in recent years with increasing frequency…"

Ananya stopped reading and put the phone away.

She stared blankly at the ceiling as she flopped down on her bed on her back.

The image of the boy flashed past in her mind and the only thought she could muster was:

'Inversion of aesthetics? Seriously?'
