The player and the average girl become friends during school, but what do they become during summer camp? The player may have competition.

It was deep into the night with the crescent moon towering high in the night sky. If you stand in the streets and listen carefully, you could hear the light snores as everyone rests in the comfort of their beds. Of course, there'll be few stragglers up late working or for reasons they will regret in the morning. 

It just happens that Alex is in the latter, staying up to finish the book he had gotten over the summer break. He just had a weird dream not too long ago and now Alex can't help but feel restless and irritated but yet not able to place his finger on why.

To calm his tornado of a mind, Alex quietly fished out the book he was reading during school out of his bag. After reading for less than an hour, Alex closed his book with a sigh, completely and utterly satisfied with the ending.

However, even with the satisfying ending and the good mood he is in, Alex turn and toss for 10 minutes straight, the restless and irritating feeling crept back into his mind. In the end, the bookworm gave up sleeping entirely and crawled over to his bookcase for a late night treat. Alex chose a book from the bottom shelf where he placed all his favourite books. In case the bookcase were ever to fall over, the books at the bottom would be the least damaged as the fall would be short with a low impact.

The moment Alex opened the book, he is, once again, absorbed inside the world hidden within the delicate pages. Despite the book Alex chosen he had a;ready read it millions of time, he still enjoys rereading the book time and time again. 

In the end, the hungry bookworm stayed up to 5 am enjoying his treat with only 2 hours left to sleep. When Alex finally closed his heavy eyelids, he felt he only closed his eyes for a second before he hears his alarm ringing. Groaning, Alex was about to throw the pillow but stopped himself in time. He didn't want a repeat of yesterday's accident to happen again.

Muddle headed, Alex attempted to get through his morning routine. His mom scolding him the moment she saw him, one glance and she already knew that her naughty son stayed up all-night reading.

Eventually Alex made it to school, the bus driver was close to driving away with Alex still in the bus but luckily he woke up in time and gave the bus driver a pleasant surprise.

Alex is now seated in his homeroom and tries to get more rest before class starts. He only put his head down for a second when he could hear a buzzing fly come through the door.

'Should've gone to the library instead,' Alex regrets his choices. However, there is no escape now. Might as well roll with it.

"Good morning, did you stay up late? You look tired," Sheridan greeted Alex.

"Mhm, yeah. Stayed up late reading," Alex honestly answered Sheridan.

"Was it that book from yesterday? Ah, I didn't get to read how Myrina makes her grant escape."

"She does, but it wasn't a good reunion…" Alex's voice starts to fade as he comes to a realization. Sheridan would only know the details of the book if A. he read the book beforehand and hadn't finished it yet, or B. he was also reading the book while Alex had it open. Alex gives Sheridan a side-eyed look. 

"... I got exposed haha," Sheridan gave a sheepish smile. "I was reading the book over your shoulder yesterday. I hope you don't mind." 

'I mind, I really do mind. My private space was invaded by you!' Alex complained in his mind. But on the outside he didn't show any emotion and simply said, "Not really."

"Nice, nice! Also, could you tell the book's name?"

Alex paused, then finally lifted his head to get a good look at Sheridan. The boy gave him a toothy grin as he waited for Alex to answer. 

'He still looks annoying, but the fact he likes books makes him slightly more bearable I guess,' Alex concluded in his mind. Alex is a simple bookworm afterall; one only needed to like books and he would automatically like that person.

Sheridan continues to give a silly smile, not knowing how Alex was silently judging him. Alex gave a small nod which confused Sheridan. 

"When Summer Ends," Alex said.

"Wait, from the Lochness series?" Sheridan asked, his eyes widen from shock. "Oh sh*t, I spoiled the series for myself now."

"Pfft," Alex quietly laughed to himself at Sheridan's idiotcy. Sheridan was too caught up in wallowing in regrets. Since the Lochness series was a mystery, it further increase Sheridan's regrets. The problem was that he was still in the first book in the series while When Summer Ends is a side story, it does contain some spoilers and best to be read after one finish the series.

"You could bang your head on the table until you forget the content of the book," Alex joked. He felt more comforablte with Sheridan knowing how silly he was and not of one of those people who chased poplarity.

A peaceful life where there no problems that can't be easily handled crop up. 

A quiet life with a library full of fascinating tales.

A simple life is all Alex wishes for.

However, after an accident, Alex keeps having strange dreams that leaves him puzzled and  perplex, yet a strange yearning in his heart.

What worse for Alex is the meeting of troublesome people, not giving Alex a chance to hole up in his room and read a book as long as he likes.

What even worse is that Alex's mom keeps kicking him out of the house, forcing him to hang out with his 'friends'.

Ye Jian didn't expect Gao Yiyang's father to act so quickly. She joked, "I have to buck up and work hard to get the scholarship for the year. That way, I might not have to worry about school fees during university."
"Haha, Girl, that will depend on what university you got into. If you enter military school, you will not need to pay a single cent. Instead, they will give you an allowance." Principal Chen laughed. This little girl was quite childish sometimes. What an interesting person. "Don't worry. As long as you manage to get into the military school, you can use the allowance on your daily necessities."
After laughing, he felt slightly bitter. A child without parents had to worry about school fees.
Luckily, the school fees for the three years in junior high were subsidized because she was the daughter of a soldier who sacrificed for the nation. If not, Sun Dongqing might have asked the girl to leave school and start working.
It was already 7 am now. More students started entering school. The new students laughed and walked into the school happily. Ye Jian walked around the school for a while after coming out of the office. She waited for the classroom to open before entering.
Her classmates seemed to have grown taller over the summer vacation. An Jiaxin pounced onto Ye Jian's back like a tiger. She laughed. "What did you eat? Why did you grow so tall?"
Ye Jian was no longer a small girl. One week ago, Ye Jian's puberty arrived. She started growing quickly over the summer vacation.
"Do you want to have a taste of it? Don't eat breakfast tomorrow. I'll send you breakfast. You will definitely grow taller." Ye Jian turned and smiled at her friend. She started laughing heartily. "Did you go and work? Why did you get so dark? Your teeth appear so white now."
An Jiaxin waved her hand. She had been following her father all around this summer vacation. She said, "My father said that traveling a thousand miles is better than reading a thousand books. I followed his observation team every day and got exposed to the weather. How can I not become darker?"
An Jiaxin's father was a geologist.
After a while, Zhang Na, Zhang Bin, and a few other students who had a good relationship with Ye Jian entered the classroom. Along with the math-lover Zhou Liao, they gathered together and started discussing the questions Ye Jian during the Science Olympiad.
"Lagrange mean-value theorem and Cauchy's mean-value theorem… these are taught in higher mathematics. It appeared in the test this time."
"Not only that, another higher-order derivatives formula, the Leibniz formula, appeared too. The Science Olympiad is not a junior high standard competition. The test is difficult and many formulas will be tested."
Ye Jian turned serious. She understood why Director Li said that there was a huge difference between their math level and the world's math level.
Overseas students didn't know how to do the questions too but they had been taught about these theorems before. On the other hand, their students… Ye Jian sighed when she saw the surprised look on her friends' faces. "That is why there is a difference between us and them."
"…Oh my god. This is so difficult! I have never heard of these things before! Tsk tsk tsk, no wonder I was rejected after the test. It's a good thing that I was rejected. If not, I will embarrass the nation." An Jiaxin was relieved. Her math results were not bad but those were just junior high math. 
As for senior high and higher mathematics… Haha, she didn't know anything.
Zhou Liao pushed his glasses and sighed loudly. "I feel relieved too. It's fine if I embarrass myself in school. If I embarrass the nation, I will be a sinner."

Spring break soon ended, and once again, I am thrust back into the dull and boring life of attending school. My arm quickly healed, returning back to its original state without any damages to bone structure or mobility.

That episode of horrifying events we experienced on the mountains quickly washed away in our lives as time buried it. The media craze surrounding it slowly began to die down, and since none of our information was released to the public through the media, our lives were not disturbed by it. Another reason why is that I believe all of us are trying to bury it deep into the past as well, not willing to keep ourselves hung up on what happened as we had all survived. That's the most important part.

With the end of Spring break marked the official transition from our winter school uniforms back to the summer uniform, and when everyone ditched the blazers, it was as if a switched had been turned on in everyone. The students became livelier due to the cool breezes brought by the Spring climate, an effect that I see all around in nature. The trees planted in the riverside trail near the building I live in are all blooming with light pink floras, and when the wind would blow, a beautiful rain of pink flower petals would drift down towards the earth, lining the ground. The entire city seemed to be influenced by the Spring season, mimicking the vitality of nature.

As each day passed by, we crept closer and closer to summertime, which is the end of the school year. Come to think of it, I will soon be in my final year of high school, and after that, I will have to attend college. It's a...weird feeling to suddenly transition from high school to college, but it'll probably just take some time to get used to. Irina, Muria, Loyd, Noah, and I will enter our final year of high schooll; Zaksus will enter his second year; and Luna and Erith will graduate...

"We're graduating soon..." Erith said one day while we stuck around after school in our club room. She leaned back in her seat, looking up at the ceiling with a reminiscing expression on her face.

"It's in a few months," Loyd smiled and commented.

I looked over the two girls that are in their final years of high school, thinking back about everything that I had experienced with them. It's rather funny to think that it felt like I've known them forever, yet...it hasn't even been an entire year.

"What college are you two going to attend?" Irina asked.

"Nocsinis Imperial University," Luna answered.

"Why would we skip out on this easy transition to this top tier affiliated university and go somewhere else?" Erith chimed in. "As long as we get an average score on the entrance exam, we're in."

"We have an entrance exam?" Noah exclaimed, shocked by this news.

"You didn't know?" Luna started to explain to him. "Even though we're students of NIU's affiliated high school, we still have to take the entrance exam. However, it's easy, almost guaranteed, for us to get in as long as we maintain at least an average grade in high school and get an average score on the exam."

"That is," Erith smirked and looked over at Noah, "if you can maintain an average grade and get an average score."

"Oh no," Noah sighed as he slumped down in his seat.

"How did you even get into our school with your grades?" Erith glanced at Noah with a suspicious look.

"If the school year's almost over, then it's almost time for summer vacation!" Zaksus exclaimed excitedly.

"You guys want to do anything for summer?" Loyd asked everyone in the building.

"You mean do something like we did over Spring break?" Muria's question led to a period of silence as we all recalled the terrors we experienced in the mountains.

"B-but it shouldn't happen again," Irina laughed weakly, as if she wasn't confident about what she was saying.

"Yeah..." Luna said, trying to lift the gloomy atmosphere. "As long as we go somewhere close to people, we should be fine."

I glanced over at Muria's face, seeing that look of repent on her face as she realized what she had done. She must be feeling guilty for having ruined everyone's mood, and it was written all over her face. It would appear that the others sensed it as well, albeit being a vague inference, but they must have tied it with the fact that she has a good nature by heart.

"Where would we go though?" Noah crossed his arms before his chest as he frowned and began thinking.

With everyone trying to come up with a reasonable trip, I surveyed the room, taking in everyone's facial expressions as suggestions were blurted out. It would appear that they were all wondering what we could possibly plan, and it seems that our earlier experience seemed to have done its damage on them, making them extra cautious.

Whatever it is that they decide, it's none of my business.

Slowly, I looked back down at my phone, continuing with the novel that I am on. From the corner of my eye, I saw Alvelyn, who was sitting next to Muria and Irina waiting for the others to come to a decision. She is probably fine with whatever everyone else decides, as whether or not we would actually attend is a question. It really depends on our mood, but...I feel that more likely than not, we would probably go. Something will kinda force me to go, and I will probably end up going.

With a sigh, I turned my gaze back to my phone. However, as my eyes moved back to my phone, I happened to spot Luna in my peripheral vision. Seeing her deep in thought...it really brought back memories. This somewhat troubled expression on her face...it's an expression that I had saw her with back in that other timeline... It's an expression that I know. She would only have this look on her face if she has something she really wants in mind, but doesn't want to say it to be considerate for others...

She can be a bit more selfish really.

I sighed as I scrolled down on my smartphone, reading the new line of text as it appeared. However, I discovered that my attention was constantly drifting over to their conversation. Each second that passed by and no one suggested the location that Luna wanted to visit, my irritation grew bit by bit...

"What about to the beach?" I raised my head and said out loud, shocking everyone with my input. I looked around at everyone, who all appeared quite shocked with their mouth slightly open, and felt a slight uneasiness in my chest. However, I tanked through this feeling and continued on with my suggestion. "We can maybe rent out a cabin by the ocean for a weekend or something..."

To be honest, I am actually quite surprised that no one actually suggested going to the beach, but it is whatever. With my suggestion now out on the discussion board, I lowered my head and refocused my sight on my phone. Even though I wasn't looking, I was sure that Luna must be feeling a surprised joy at the moment. She might think that it is a coincidence that I suggested the place she wanted to go with everyone, but it is not. I remembered everything she had said in that timeline, even though she had forgot about it. Even if the entire world will forget, I will not...

"The beach sounds pretty good," Loyd agreed.

"Are you just trying to see us in swimsuits?" Erith glanced over at me with a cautious and disgusted glare in her eyes, but I disregarded it and continued reading the novel on my phone.

"Maybe," I chuckled and said in a joking manner, feeling rather positive about myself for speaking up and suggesting something.

"Was that...supposed to be a joke or was he being serious?" Erith seemed to be taken by surprise by my statement, flustered as she sought after aid from the others.

"I think it's a joke," Loyd deciphered.

"Really?" Zaksus sounded rather surprised. "I thought he was being serious!"

"What the hell of a person am I in your eyes?" I glanced over at him in a defeated manner and muttered.

"Sorry," Zaksus laughed it off. "It's just that you don't usually joke around like that so..."

"I know, I know," I said, continuing with the novel on my phone.

"Is everyone fine with going to the beach?" Loyd looked around and asked.

"I'm fine with it," Alvelyn nodded her head.

Following after her, everyone else also chimed in with their approval.

"Then it's decided then," Loyd nodded his head as he confirmed. "The plan is to go to the beach, but since summer is still quite some time away from now, we can talk about the specifics later."

I'm just me. An ordinary high school boy with no girlfriend, not too many friends, and no talent.  What I enjoy doing after school is roaming around the halls, hoping that like in the cliche anime and manga, I'll bump into someone that'll change my life. Of course, nothing is going to happen. What do you expect? 

But, this APP on my phone is kind of weird. I don't remember installing it. If I click on it, it asks me to complete missions. But how the hell am I supposed to do these embarrassing tasks?


Update Schedule:
I will post new chapters usually once a day, but that is subjected to change depending on my schedule as I am a student in my final year of high school. During breaks, I will usually post multiple chapters per day.

Hoi, and I'm sorry for not uploading a chapter in a while, but now that schools FINALLY OVER, I can put a little more dedication into it. So here's a list of everything I wanna go over, ranging from what I've been up too, what I'm going to be doing, and some exciting new things I have planned for the future [Please read everything, as it's all important(ish...)]

(1) Now that school and finals are over, I can dedicate more time to writing and coming up with new idea's for chapters. However, I will be taking a PE class over the summer. Not because I'm dumb and I need more credits or anything, but because I don't want to take a PE class during the school year. [Summer PE is just a lot of running, swimming, etc... School year PE has the dreaded thing known as dance... Seriously! Why the hell is it something our school requires all the kids to do!!!] This shouldn't get in the way of my writing all that much however due to the summer school class being PE

(2) I'm going to a friends house to play some d&d, so that'll be fun [they nerfed my characters armor class by 2. Why would they do that... Probably because I managed to scrape up a wopping 20 AC at level 1... The fun thing is that I did it legit as well..... Warforged Juggernaut OP.........]

(3) I absolutely WON'T drop this novel. However I will be taking a break from this story once it reaches 50 chapters (not counting the auxiliary...)

(4) I've been to busy reading other peoples novels or watching anime to write chapters... So I'm hoping that my brain can finally be at rest after binging railgun, railgun S, index I, II, and III, and the railgun and accelerator mangas... Also I can see why everyone loves accelerator now [A wild accelerator has appeared, accelerator is now enraged, accelerator used CHUCK A FREAKING SKYSCRAPER... It's super effective...]

(5) After effectively binging the whole magical index universe, along with having already finished binging mob psycho I and II before that. I've gone a little ESPer crazy (Tatsumaki from one punch man doesn't help by the way)... And I'm really excited to tell you guys about the new ESPer related story concept I've come up with for a new novel that I'm planning to write after this novel reaches 50 or more chapters (I'm already creating the characters, physics, and complex details of the world the story will take place in... And once I get all that stuff finished or close to finished, I'll start the story and post all that technical stuff about it in some informative chapters. The real story won't start tell I reach the 50 chapter mark here however

(6) I might make a discord channel dedicated to this story, and the new one I'm planning on making [The new story is actually serving as a good motivator to try and reach 50 chapters on this one...]

After school ended i found a job online for the summer break that ends when school starts back up. The job is called Hicks honey where you work with bees (I Was scared to be honest) I got the job where I learn how to extract honey from bees all day hauling 6 boxes Over One another that is big as a grown adult then there's the sides 3 all around, and with 9 slides in each box, you have to get to work at 7:00am until 3:00pm with lunch break at 11:40am before 12:00pm and when your done you make $15 an hour and your only weekend during the job is Sundays so from there everyday you work (it's tiring for someone like me)
But yeah that's why I have to change the post day, and I explained why because I feel exhausted from work and would like the people that are reading the novel I'm making to know the truth.

Summer is my favorite season

My feet in the sand, curled toes and tanned skin is what I long for each end of school year.

The remaining days in Chapin School Princeton New Jersey, is spent while reading under a tree, this special tree is my secret spot. I studied here, I opened a few love letters here, I journaled here, and cried here.

Each year I grew up to find that my princess like life, of playing with dolls, running in a big house, shopping non-stop, is just a facade.

When I met Jeffrey, a cute senior guy, he loved my red hair, praised my fashion sense, he complemented my shoes, my bags, but he turned out to be the worst guy a young girl such as myself could like.

He told me to never swear, "Bad words are not lady like". He said.

I love to sing in the karaoke, he said, You should not sing so loud, it'll hurt your vocal chords.

I love to bike, he said Ladies should not be riding bikes, "You know to preserve your Physical Virginity", 
that is such bullshit I thought to myself.

The type of guy he is, is like a stuck up, spoiled, little child, who only likes shiny things. And when he meets the next shiny toy, he would flip like a switch, and chase it.

I was that shiny toy, he played with me. And I got hurt.

It was my first summer break in high school, we climbed up a mountain with 4 other friends.

You know, I never kissed a guy before, but I really wanted to kiss Jeffrey, but he kept on dismissing me, whenever I gave him the chance. 

One time we attended the dance, he was with another girl, She held onto his arm so tightly, but when she wasn't looking he sat by me. He held me close to him.

I was powerless because he knew I liked him. 

I was once that Girl, but now All the boys will know I am not too easy. It is payback time.

She is the girl everyone wants to be best friends with. She is every boy's dream girl. She has the best looking house at the beach. Only thing missing, is the best Summer of Chelsey's Life.

A month went by and we were already in the last week of school. "So, how's the whole demon thing going?" Hayley asked quietly. I glared at her, "You know I'm not supposed to talk about it, and you are not supposed to bring it up." "Ok, God I'm sorry." I was still glaring "Don't ask again, or you will regret it." If she doesn't keep her mouth shut, I can't save her from the consequences.


    On the bus ride home, a nice senior talked to me about her experiences in high school. I congratulated her on graduating. The rest of the day was peaceful and easy. At dinner I was able to eat human food and like it, although that's not what I wanted. I still remember what his blood tasted like, sweet and warm. To be honest I was craving more blood, but I didn't say anything to Dad. 


    Now I am able to completely block out other people's thoughts. I discovered I had the power to be invisible whenever I want. It bugs Dad a lot, but he can get over it. 


    The next day in school I gave my friends a picture of me, because for some reason they like pictures of me. "I don't care what you do to it, as long as I don't have to see it. Deal?" Grayce smiled, "Deal." I sat in silence until a seventh grader sat next to me. He looked at Grayce and then at me, and then back at Grayce. He turned back to me, "Are you guys related?" he asked, gesturing to Grayce.


    I glared at him, "No, we are not related." "Oh, well you guys look exactly the same." I clenched my hands into fists, "Grayce!" she didn't hear me. "Grayce!" I tried again, and still nothing. "Grayce! Bogle! Bagel! Hello, blonde kid over there." That did it. She turned to me. "This kid says we look alike." She laughed, "It's like fifth grade all over again. Do you remember when Ms.Ferrell would say 'Sarah, sit down.' when she was talking to me and not you?" I laughed, "Yeah, or when she would say 'Hey, Grayce would you take these papers to Mrs.Mitchell for me?' And I'm over here like, do I look like Grayce to you? I think not." We laughed some more then we were dismissed from the cafeteria.


I sat down at my desk and immediately started studying for my test in history. "I'm so gonna fail this test," said my friend Layla. "Dude, me too." Just then Coach Butler spoke up "You guys have ten minutes to study." We all started studying as soon as he said that. When the ten minutes were up I said, "You ready to fail this test Layla?" She nodded her head. "Totally, we'll fail it together." 


Presenting my project in second period went the same as usual. When my name was called I turned as red as a tomato. I stuttered and read it really fast, and then I was done.


My third period was boring and dragged on. I finished my project and started reading, but time went by very slowly. One by one the kids started to leave early. The middle school was having half days do to testing the last week of school. I never get picked up early on days like that. I stay until the school bus brings me home.


    That night after school Dad called me and I assumed I had to do the dishes or something, but I was wrong. "Sarah, you have to go to Hell." he said. "I what?!" I asked. He took a deep breath and repeated himself, "You have to go to Hell." He said it like it wasn't a big deal, like this was completely normal. 


    This was completely insane, cool, but insane. I didn't know why I had to go. I didn't know if I could handle going to Hell. Would it be too dangerous? Would I be targeted a lot? "Is it even safe?" I asked. "For you? Yes." he said. 


    "What do you mean?" I asked. "You're a very respected demon, everyone in Hell knows who you are. No one in Hell would ever dream of giving you trouble because they know they would immediately regret it." he explained. "What makes me so special?" He laughed, "You'll find out in Hell." 


I was going to ask more questions but it was time for dinner so I didn't have time. Once I was done with dinner I wanted to ask Dad more questions, but he was busy so I started my chores. I didn't get a chance to ask him anything else that night. 


I went to bed early that nightmare. I woke up at 3:00am and decided to read, as I was reading I could hear some more voices. One voice in particular stood out the most, Kiera's. She was asleep so I think I was hearing her dream. In her dream she was arguing with Matthew about youtubers. I eventually got bored listening to her dream and decided to block her out and try to go back to bed.


The next morning at school people were talking about what they were going to do over the summer. My friend approached me looking very excited, "Guess what I'm doing over summer break!" she said. "Umm, sleeping?" I said in a questioning tone. She rolled her eyes, "Yes, but that's not what I meant. I'm going to Africa!" she exclaimed. My jaw dropped and it took me a minute to respond because I was very jealous. "Are you serious?!" I asked. "Yes! I'll be there all summer. My Dad told me last night, we're going as a family. My Mom wants to study their cultures or something." she shrugged. 


The bell rang, dismissing us to our third periods. When I got there I picked up our warm up assignment and headed to my desk. I was halfway through the assignment when everything around me froze, it was like time itself stopped. Everyone was frozen in place, there was no sound other than the sound of me breathing. I stood up and tried to get their attention, but they were all frozen, everything was frozen.


Then, a small white ball of light formed in the air. I stepped back from it, confused as to how it got there. It started to get larger and whiter until all I was consumed in a blinding white light. When it finally dimmed and disappeared, I noticed I was no longer in school. 


It was very dark here, not that there wasn't any light, but everything seemed darker. There was a river that seemed to be blood instead of water and all the trees were dead. It was also very, very hot. I then realized I was no longer on Earth, I was in Hell. I was admiring my surroundings when I heard someone, "Like what you see?" the voice said. 


I turned around to see a demon who was red like me. He was tall, muscular, and had huge wings, claws and horns. A very powerful aura was coming from him, which made me assume he was Satan. "Are you...the Devil?" He smiled at me and said, "I most certainly am, now follow me." he then started to walk away. 


I followed him to what looked like a castle made of stone, it was a dark crimson. He led me to what looked like a conference room. "Have a seat." he said while gesturing to one of the chairs. I did as he said and waited for him to speak. "Your father did inform you that you were needed here, right?" he asked. "Yes, sir." I said. He looked pleased, "Did he tell you why?" 


I frowned a little, "No, sir." He looked at me with a puzzled face, "Why do you seem so upset?" I didn't mean to seem that way. "I'm not, really. I was just disappointed because I didn't know why I had to come here, when I was going to come here, or even how I was going to get here." I explained. He shook his head, "I'm sorry. I'll make sure to talk to your father. I'm sorry you didn't know anything about why you are here." he said. 


"Sir, why am I here?" I asked. He sighed, "Sarah, when I feel you are ready, and when I am ready to retire, you will be taking over as the ruler of Hell. You will be the Devil." 

Sarah's in school when she changes for the first time. Her dad is a demon and her mom was human, which makes her half human half demon. She goes through her life improving on her demon skills and eventually becomes Satan.

I want to run. To anywhere but here. Anywhere but this small town. I live in Sunside Valley. A small town. And it's summer. My 5 best friends Tre, William, Sandra, Ryan, and Vanessa are out of town. The only bestie in town is Dylan. He works during the summer at our bookstore our parents own. Me and him also work during the school year but I get summer off. So I'm alone in this empty small town. Everyone's gone. I have this ache in my stomach from missing someone from so long ago as I ride my bike to the bookstore where I spend most of my summer with Dylan because no one else is here.

I arrive at the Bookworm bookstore. I smile because I already get the warm feeling of that small bookstore that's filled with million books. I lock up my bike and notice Dylan is reading through the window not even noticing I'm outside. I knock on the glossy glass window. He looks up from the book in shock and looks straight at me. I see his bright warm smile and I smile back.

I open the door and the coolness of the AC hits me finally somewhere cold other than home. It's burning outside kinda wish I brought Penny along. I see Luka Dyl's dog run to me and I smile. He bend down and he licks my face.

"Hey Luka. Who's a good boy? You are!" I pet behind his ear. He's a beautiful Golden retriever who I've known since he was a puppy.

"Morning L." He greets me and it's vacant in the store. I smile at him. 

"Morning Dyl whatcha reading?" I ask bouncing up and leaning against the counter.

"My favorite of course." He says.

"Why I should have known. You always read the time of day." I smile. "Got anything good for me today?"

"Yeah actually." He reaches under the counter where we puts all books we recommend to each other and slides it onto the counter. I pick it's up and read the title. 

"Dusk till Dawn." I say out loud. I turn it around to the back to read the summary.

"It's about a warlock named Quin and a werewolf named Kaylee. Best friends and they were ripped apart because they are different. But they are in love and the the werewolf is determined to find him." He explains. Then I feel this weird feeling….Dylan really….I know he doesn't know about the boy. But this book is my life with a bit of a twist that they can't be together and get pulled apart by their parents. But the fact I'm looking for someone. I'm the werewolf and he's the witch.

"Can't the boy just use a spell to find her?" I ask. Thinking about how that boy should be looking for me but I don't know that. 

"No, her parents put a cloaking spell on her." He says. Sometimes I wish I was in books because it would be easy to forget or come up with reasons he may not be looking.

"You sure it's good?" I look down at the book and notice how thick it is.

"Yes and I know you read books fast but this one is 2,000 pages and I know if you really wanted to you can finish that easily. But it's better if you don't trust me." He smiles at me. Dylan is always right about books but should I trust him? This could make me break down.

"Look L, I love the book and I think you will to you can keep reading The Fire while you're reading it but come on give it a chance." He tries to convince me. I take the book of the counter and it's a bit heavy. I put in my brown leather sachal and take out The Fire. 

"Read both at the same time?" I question kind of.

"Come on I know you read like 10 books at once." He says. And of course he's right. I can't help but giggle a bit.

"You know me too well." I playfully punch his arm.

"Yeah sure come on." He gets from behind the counter to the door and flips the sign to closed. 

"Come on I got a hour brunch break." He smiles.

"There is no such thing." I smile. 

"Come on my parents won't mind they have real work to deal with." He says. 

"Fine." I say. I never understood why his parents let Dylan and I get our dream and bought the shop when they work. His dad is a doctor and his mom is a graveyard nurse every other night. His mom is always home in the morning sleeping. And really just because this is Dylan's shop it's also mine in a way. Dylan is practically family. Our parents grew up together. And when we were 12 we had this dream to open a bookstore. Our parents split the cost put it under their names and bam. Our dream came true.

"Come on Luka!" Dylan calls and hooks him onto a leash. His tail wags and I pet the top of his head. He opens the door and he locks it behind us. It's a sunny day and I see the rays glowing through the trees. Very little cars pass and I wish everyone didn't leave for the summer. 

"Wait L, you biked huh?" He asks. 

"Yeah but come on we can walk." I smile. 

"Hmm ok right across the park and get some crepes and have picnic?" He asks. 

"Of course. The Breakfast picnic everyday." I smile.
