The first time Lukas learned of a priest he recalled his previous world priest and that did worry him a bit on how he could fulfill such a role in this world. The Word "Priest" back in earth had undeniable connotation to religious practices which bungled his mind if he will somehow be forced to walk around spreading the "Good Word".
 But to his surprise once he had a few days of learning and training  he could only sum up a priest had a very intended function especially in expeditions  in this new world. And even though The Country of Lush has christened almost all mages under the 3 Cathedrals collectively as priests, the mages from the Divine Cathedral named themselves Divine Masters while the Mages from the Blue Cathedral conned themselves Deacons or Deaconess just too differentiate themselves with the overpowering presence of the 'Priests' from the Cathedral of Light.
Basically a Priest and a Mage could be said to be same though a Priest is a Mage who specializes in 1 or 2 of the 3 main areas depending on his or her path and his or her own comprehension. The 3 main areas are Offense, Defense and Auxiliary or Utility. Any mage whose spells mainly fulfills the kit in either Defense or Auxiliary or both can be called a Priest in name and title.
In terms of Defense, Priest of Light are more known so that any other priests.  The spell kit of light mages allows them to learn of much variety of spells that can be casted on oneself, on a team member in trouble and if their mana and comprehension are even stronger, defensive spells that can protect a group of people in times of need. Suffice to say such spells have been known to save lives of many people in face of any kind of danger.
Auxiliary or Support is where it either made a priest or broke them. These spells possessed a very specific kit that could increase an overall fighting power of a team. This includes spells to increase mana and recover energy, spells to increase overall speed of the team, increase the might of their teammate's weapons and so on. This also included spells that can casted on an enemy to increase the likely hood of victory like slows, blinds, confusion, fear, mesmerize etc in short any buff or debuff spells. Even though some mages have certain forms of spells that drop in this category, the priests from all the 3 cathedrals were known to possess a wider variety than most.
 But Healing spells were the bread and butter of any decent priest. If a priest didn't even have a single healing spell in their inventory it isn't enough unless he/she over compensates in the other criteria more than enough. During and after battle injuries couldn't be helped especially with various dangerous expeditions in conquering ruins of ancient places, dungeons and more powerful demonic beasts in the wild. The ability to heal is often enough for a priest save lives in more ways than one even in the midst of dangers. 
And even though most priests play a huge role in such adventures they are also known for lacking any formidable means of offense.  Solaris became the one of the few known priests who tried to subvert the expectations but it was also known he had to sacrifice a considerable amount in terms of defense and utility most priests are known for. But their healing and defense spells more than make up for it, making mages who choose to become priests some of the most arrogant and aloof characters in the Lush Continent.
In his one month and a half of intensive training Lukas made huge strides in more ways than one. Starting with his Meditation arts he could now confidently visualize more than half of the spells that would have needed invocations and incantations to cast. And all of this was because of just one thing; his deep meditation, a uncommon habit that he picked in his last life bringing so many benefits that even he himself was surprised.
Many of the advantages it brought was not only an easier and faster accumulation and recovery of mana which allowed him to train even more intensely and intensively, it also brought him closer and closer to understanding his own Elemental Light. By now it felt so familiar to him, that his whole body radiated a soft hazy light every time he  was about to cast spells, practice his own  Physical routines and most of all it become even more pronounced every time he meditated.
But the best thing Lukas picked up in his period was just the fact it allowed him to fix any remaining flaws that the previous host left behind in his own hurry to obtain a higher cultivation. The previous mana accumulated before he repossessed the body was imperfect and impure at its best. This led him unable to cast many of the more powerful spells that any talented mortal ranked priest could cast. So the deep meditation and his own aim at compressing and refining the present mana  until it shone with a clear hazy blue allowed him to almost feel as light as a feather and his limbs so graceful and his mind sharp.
He had reached such conclusion after reading some of the books and manuscript at the Hall of Insight on how most mages who rushed through the beginner levels ended up having faulty foundations in their future path. It was a clear warning and as much as Lukas wanted to level up quickly, he knew this life wasn't a game. He would take a sure step one at a time until the moment he could reach the top and see how high the path of magic could reach. 
 In his days of solo training he noticed quite a strange incident. Every night at the stroke of midnight his body glowed in a different hue of bluish light as opposed to the soft golden light he was used to. With intense observations, in time he came to realize that every time he glowed, he found himself bathed in slightly more mana and his mind relaxed allowing for even meditation and comprehension. Further observations made Lukas realize that it was his Elemental Star that caused such phenomena and as much as he wanted to control it and even maximize its advantages he was helpless in doing so.
His body would always collect and refine mana impassively at a very slow pace and seeing that he had no control over it, Lukas gave up in the end, opting to use his nights for a much needed rest. In any case his body cultivated in the night by pulling the energy of the stars and though it won't be noticeable in the beginning, the advantages will clearly show in the long run regardless. And who knows, the day he will be able to control it, then his cultivation will progress by heaps and bounds.
The real trouble that Lukas ran through his self imposed training came in two parts: his Psyche training and Nutrition.
Psyche, a formless manifestation of his mind palace after hours and hours of visualization happened to be the hardest thing Lukas could ever have tried to train.
It exhausted his mental facilities faster than he could recover and the most he could do with such power was to barely move objects around him with his mind. The true advantage his psyche brought him was the increased control of his mana and his spell manifestation which was the reason why he stubbornly kept at it despite the diminishing returns as he somehow incorporated into his training regime.
The 2nd snag, Nutrition became the forerunner of all his problems. The decent food he got the Mess Hall was enough to fulfill his hunger but for the training he was looking to push himself through it wasn't enough. If he dared perform heavy exercises on an already lean body he might Just as well end up destroying himself. The current gold coins he had wasn't enough for more sustenance, in fact it wasn't enough for anything worthy at all which led Lukas to worry about on how he could obtain some form of payment that would allow him to fully train without any worry.
And the answer came to him in missive that arrived the very next morning at his doorstep.

Elegant white robe, tall stature, Ling Xiao is someone that approaches perfection. After having travelled for almost a day, there is no sign of weariness as Ling Xiao walks up to You XiaoMo and throws a book on the table.

You XiaoMo steals a glance at the book. It's not a new book but it has been kept meticulously. The book cover is very well kept without any damage or wrinkle. On it is clearly written [Heavenly Soul Scroll] three words. One look and you can tell that it is related to the soul since the word soul is written on it.

Seeing that Ling Xiao is not saying anything, You XiaoMo can't take it any longer and picks up the book. After flipping through, his whole face darkens, surprisingly he .... can't recognize even a single word!

You XiaoMo hesitates, looking at Ling Xiao, "Elder brother Ling, is this really a book of alchemical techniques to train the soul force?"

Hearing these words, Ling Xiao raises his elegant brows, "Why? You think I would just take any old book to fool you?"

"No no no." You XiaoMo quickly shakes his head. Of course he doesn't mean that, "What I mean is, these characters, I don't recognize them at all. They are completely different from those in the books from the library. This way, how can I learn?"

"If you are able to understand, the other high level mages would have lived in vain." Ling Xiao snorts.

"Do you mean that this book is written in ancient characters?"

He thinks of the characters on oracle bones. They are very different from the simplified Chinese characters of today. Two completely different types of characters. But the latter is still a result of continuous evolution throughout history.

"How smart." Ling Xiao glances at him, his tone is definitely not one of praise.

The characters of the Heavenly Soul Scroll is indeed written in ancient characters of Long Xiao continent. But if you really want to get to the heart of the matter, probably only a few people will be able to confirm it. That's because it is from over a hundred billion years ago.

A hundred billion years ago, there were much more alchemical techniques to train the soul force than today. But because so much time has passed, and because some mages are not willing to pass on these alchemical techniques, the number has decreased with time. Many of them have even disappeared. That's why there are not more than ten volumes of alchemical techniques today in Long Xiao continent.

But You XiaoMo is very curious. Since there are so few, how did he find this book? No matter how curious, You XiaoMo doesn't dare to ask the question.

"Elder brother Ling, I don't understand the characters in this book. How can I train?" You XiaoMo asks while holding the book.

Finally a faint smile appears on Ling Xiao's face, but it's a crafty smile. He simply says: "Just because you don't understand, doesn't mean I don't."

You XiaoMo didn't expect that he would actually understand those characters. But the moment of delight disappears with the cunning tone of his voice. He realizes that it won't come easy. Of course there will be a price. He can almost imagine his purse getting flatter.

"Elder brother Ling, just tell me what conditions you have."

I will endure.

Ling Xiao reveals a 'so you can be sensible' type of expression. Making him run east and west, You XiaoMo is actually the first to do that.

"I can translate the alchemical techniques for you. But once you make a breakthrough with your soul force, I want ten of that magic pill."

Everything is said in a non-negotiable tone. You XiaoMo knows what type of magic pill he is referring to. That's why he is depressed. Ten times more, just like that. But he finally has a book of alchemical techniques. You XiaoMo is very excited. Not just ten, even twenty he would agree ah. Of course, he would never tell Ling Xiao that.

"Elder brother Ling, then should we start now?" You XiaoMo holds the [Heavenly Soul Scroll] and looks at Ling Xiao with a pair of sparkling eyes.

Ling Xiao frowns. Again with this little kitten look that makes the heart itch.

"What's the hurry? Even if I translate it for you now, you still can't start training immediately."

"Why?" You XiaoMo blurts out after a stunned moment.

"Without anyone to show you the way, do you think you will succeed with your IQ?"

Ling Xiao raises the corners of his mouth. Again with the self-satisfied and insufferably arrogant look. No matter how you look at it, it is clearly different from the elegant scholarly look. Why is it that the others can't see it?

This is clearly an insult. Where does it show that he has a very low IQ? You XiaoMo is furious.

Ling Xiao stands up, walks over, pulls You XiaoMo by the arm and leads him outside, "Accompany me for dinner. I'll find some time tomorrow to come by."

You XiaoMo blinks repeatedly, "Elder brother Ling, where are we going to eat?"

Ling Xiao looks at him from the corner of his eye, and says with an ambiguous smile, "Of course we're going to Earth peak's canteen ah!"

It's a while before You XiaoMo lets out a miserable shriek.

At the same time, in a place where You XiaoMo doesn't know, something shocking reverberates across Long Xiao continent. It seems that the renown top level mage of Long Xiao continent, Qiu Ran has lost something very important. Because of that, he has issued an extremely high reward. He is offering ten level nine magic pills and three level ten magic pills in exchange for the thief.

For You XiaoMo, that has no access to news from the outside world, he won't know about this for a very very long time. By that time, he will already think of [Heavenly Soul Scroll] as something that is rightfully his.

After an explosion, You XiaoMo finds that he is now a probationary disciple of the TianXin Sect. However, he is one with dubious potential, so just when he starts to adapt to his new circumstances, he receives bad news. If he is unable to produce the required result after half a year to become an official disciple of the TianXin Sect, he will be driven out of the sect.

Chapter 9 
The square dance of Death
 
Nom knew that he needed to start being careful, eventually the police were going to want to have a conversation with him. Unless, he intended to neutralize them, he needed to stay under the radar. Paying for a hotel room where three dead bodies would eventually be found was bad enough. Offering a bleeding heart story about taking care of a young family that he had seen would take care of the average curious cop. If on the other hand, he was found to have paid for two hotel rooms, one with corpses and the other with a comatose concierge? A concierge whose key was the last one used to enter the room of the deceased? There was no explaining that away. 
When he woke up on his second day in the hotel, he looked at the sleeping co-ed next to him. It really was a shame that he could not take her with him. Eventually he might manage to refine his powers to the point that he could reprogram people, but for the time being it looked like he was going to be limited to temporary brain alterations. Still that was no reason why he had to go unsatisfied this morning. The dose of sleeping pills he had wished on her, would keep her unconscious and unable to make new memories even if he started performing open chest surgery sans anesthesia. No need to work about blocking her ability to make memories. He wished her aroused…

 

An hour and a half later Nom had finished with his morning ceremonies and was ready to face the day. First things first, he had to get rid of the concierge. Her boss would be calling her shortly to see if she would be coming in. The simplest solution would simply be to have her show. Putting her into another clot induced mental daze, Nom had her shower and dress. 
The only missing element was that she did not have any of the perfume that she had been wearing the day before. Still it would have to do, women made unexpected changes in their appearances all the time. 
Nom took her to the elevator pressed the lobby button and, as the doors closed, removed the clot. From her life fire Nom could feel that she had a splitting head ache. To be on the safe side, despite her having no fertile eggs in her ovaries, he triggered a period. For all he knew she might have fired off an active egg before he killed her ovarian stash. With any luck she would get to the lobby confused, with a severe headache, and spotting. 
Her story for skipping work would be backed up. Confusion brought on by what was one hell of a head crusher was not uncommon. A day or two of rest followed by a checkup in the hospital, and she would chock it all up to bad time of the month. The flow she was now experiencing would make a bit of a mess, but it would flush out any evidence the shower missed should that hospital choose to do a **** kit.
Nom went back to his room and picked up the phone. Room service was more than willing to bring him a pot of earl grey, soy milk, toast, and eggs fried in olive oil. He sat down at the desk and powered up his laptop. His phone gave him Chopin's Polonaise Op. 53 in A flat major over his ear buds. 
A bit of Facebook stalking gave him a rapid-fire bio on Lake Church and the Reverend Ater. The man was even prominent enough that a Wikipedia page had been created. This led to some interesting sources that Nom could use in building his target profile. 
After his breakfast had arrived and the waiter was tipped, Nom resumed his work while he ate. In a little over an hour, Nom was thoroughly familiar with his next experiment. Now all he had to do was take the necessary steps to slip into anonymity. 

 

Nom went through his luggage, he reduced it to a day bag and a small duffle bag. The surplus he dropped in the dumpster behind a Denny's near the hotel. His cell phone was conveniently smashed with a rock after he emailed a new Google address his contacts. His rental car was easy to lose. He simply drove back into the airport and parked it there. Funnily enough, since the structure blocked all cell phone coverage, he was sure that it would take them weeks to find it there. None of the tracking devices in the car could work.
Nom returned and checked out of the hotel. He could not help but feel aroused when he saw the concierge sitting in the manager's office, looking faint with a cold compress held to her head. Nom asked the desk clerk to call him a taxi and went to wait in the lobby. 
First, he had the taxi take him to the Dallas financial district. He had found a bank that would cash Bit Coins. An hour later he was in another cab, his day bag bulging with books of twenty-dollar bills, and two one-hundred-dollar books. His next stop was a local DMV that a dark web friend had suggested. 
The process was simple: walk in, find an old Latina woman named Damaris at the questions counter, and tell her he needed a new license. The rest was simply a matter of putting five-hundred-dollars in a manila envelope along with fake car insurance documents. 
When she glanced at the envelope and saw the money Nom could tell from the twinkle in her eye that his friend had been correct. She gave him an application form and number and said she needed to give his document to a clerk and sent him to wait. Nom noticed that she took the envelope into another room. When she came back it was much thinner. Half an hour later his number was called, and he went up to the counter. A smiling young African-American woman winked at him when she asked for his application. 
When he handed it over she said: "Ok sweetie, there will be a: fifty-dollar application fee, a one-hundred-dollar processing fee, and if you would like your license before you leave; then there will be a three-hundred-dollar same day convenience fee."
Smiling, and shaking his head at her shameless padding of the bribe, Nom pulled the requested cash from his back pack and took the receipt. 
"Ok, stand against the wall there, and smile." She said. The camera flashed. "Have a seat, Sugar, I'll call you when it's ready."
Twenty minutes later he was out front flagging another taxi. A fresh ID was in his wallet. He had the driver take him to a small used car dealer he had found online the night before. When he arrived at the dealer, it was just as he expected: seedy and filled with derelict wrecks that once had been cars. A few repossessed cars that had been picked up at auction were on display in the front, but the rest were crap. Nom paid the driver in cash and went in. 
The dealer was a brunet ex trophy wife who introduced herself as Doreen. For a moment Nom contemplated using her just as he had the concierge at his hotel. Pleasant as that would be, it was time to start going underground. He was leaving a trail of bread crumbs, and he was not sure the birds would eat them in time.
Nom looked over the spec sheet for a low mileage Miata. It was perfect, ten thousand miles, certified used, and only twelve thousand dollars. Doreen put on the usual song and dance, trying to jack up her price, but Nom was not in a giving mood. Loans, deals, she tried everything, but he would not budge. He simply put a book of hundred dollar bills on the desk. 
"Doreen we both know that we are only here for one reason. You want a sale, and I need to buy. The difference between our positions is that I can get in a cab and go to another dealer. Looking around your lot, it has been a while since someone like me came in. I'm not interested in a loan. I don't care what kinds of deals you have to offer me on the interest rate. That book, holds one-hundred, hundred dollar bills. That is ten thousand dollars. Most of the sales from dealerships like this go south, and you have to repossess. How much do you lose?"
"A bit." She admitted
"Well, the Miata, has been restored. Don't deny it." He said holding up the Car Fax report on his phone.
"The entire front end has been rebuilt after crashing into the Jane Mansfield bar on a semi. You didn't disclose that. The state licensing people can be rather nasty about that sort of faus pas. So, considering the Kelly Blue Book listing, and the restored status, ten grand is a fair deal. Take it, or I walk."
She took the deal which amazed Nom. He showed a little bit of confidence, and she folded like a busted card shark. The new ID seemed to be working, and the registration paperwork was quickly filled out.
As he left, he asked the dealer for directions to the nearest Wal-Mart. Normally, Nom was loathed to shop at the box store, but this time he needed the convenience. 
By that afternoon he was a fully functioning member of society. He had a car, a cell phone, and a prepaid debit card. He spent several hours going from bank to bank around the town. Each time he used their ATMs until he had loaded most of the remaining cash onto his new card. Making sure to stay under the limits set by the Patriot Act for the banks to notify the feds or the IRS, he then stopped by Men's Warehouse. He had to be sure he looked the part of a good evangelical when he got to Lake Church.
He drove to Houston and checked into a Holiday Inn only a few blocks from the target. He could hardly sleep as he waited for his chance to conduct his greatest experiment yet.

Death, a Biography, is a fictional horror novel. It is crass, violent, profane, and not meant for the light hearted reader. Imagine living in a world surrounded by fools. For years your frustration grows, and no matter what you try to do you cannot free yourself from the preverbal ideocracy. Nom DePlume is just such a man, only one day he is granted the dearest wish of his heart. Nom, a grad student working as a truck driver is: intelligent, well educated, and the sort of person who always can find a reason to have a chip on his shoulder. One day while driving in Texas he finds that he has the ability to wish death on those he hates. Being scientifically minded, Nom proceeds to experiment searching out the scopes of his new found powers. He begins in Texas, a state he despises. As he moves on from each experiment, he picks his prey to match some facet of modern western life that he hates. Each receive a fate customized to match what Nom feels they did wrong. Nom then travels home to Michigan after initially defining his new role in life. In Michigan he uses his powers to settle a few old scores and family business. A run-in with an old friend convinces him that he is being selfish for not using his god like powers to better mold humanity. The end of the book sees him taking on the leader of the free world. Nom now personifying Death, learns that he has a true foe, Life.Nom will return.

Everyone looked strangely awkward after hearing that. Joseph also noticed this. His eyes turned to Zheng like the others. When Zheng was about to come into his view, Yinkong suddenly stabbed the dagger into his head. The flames burst out of his mouth, nose, ears, and eyes. He only got a chance for a short scream before his head was burnt down to the skull.

Everyone was shocked. Zhuiyu’s scream brought everyone’s attention back. She yelled with a sharp voice, “God! What did you just do? How could you just kill their member? You haven’t even given them a reply. God, what if they misunderstand and attack us?”

Yinkong gave her a cold smile. “Don’t be naive. Do you think this will end peacefully if we accept their suggestion? No, because we’ve already used the Book of the Dead. Even if you give them the book, you will not get their mercy. They will definitely attack us right afterwards…”

Zhuiyu continued yelling, “But only one of us used the book. Just trade him for someone in the other team. It seemed like they don’t want to start a war with us either. If you start a war with them, what happens to us newbies? Just wait here and die?”

Yinkong looked at her like she’s retarded. Zheng said coldly, “I’m sorry. The one that you believe should be given up… the one that used the book is me! Even though I won’t abandon my comrades, but when I am faced with the situation, I will kill anyone that threatens me!”

Zhuiyu immediately turned around and saw Zheng holding a knife with an ice cold expression. She could feel his killing intent through his eyes. As if he would attack the moment she moves. Her whole body froze there until Zheng moved his eyes away from her, then she breathed heavily.

Honglu pulled a hair and said to Zhuiyu in a sarcastic tone, “Of course. We can’t abandon you. In fact, we are in the same boat. Why do you think they want to make peace with us? Is it because of mercy? Stop joking. The only reason is because they’re also afraid of our power. Aside from being the leader of our team, you are also our crucial combatant. If you die, will Team India still want to continue with the peace? That’s not possible. Why would they when it’s a bunch of free points?”

Zhuiyu’s face turned red but she couldn’t utter a word. Liang patted her shoulders and smiled. “Then can we pretend to accept their terms and go get the Book of Amun-Ra from the tomb in the meantime? There shouldn’t be any danger in the tomb right now. The mummy is in Cairo, and we also know Evelyn who knows the location of the book. Isn’t this a great chance to finish the mission as soon as possible? We are at zero points so it doesn’t matter if we finish the movie immediately.”

Zhuiyu looked at him thankfully but before she could say anything, Lan shook her head and said, “That’s not possible. The Book of the Dead is a critical item in reviving Anck-Su-Namun. Not only does Imhotep wants to get it, Team India also needs it to finish their mission. Furthermore, once they learn that the Book of the Dead isn’t in the movie characters’ hands, they will think of us… In the movie, Imhotep moves as fast as an airplane after he recovered his powers and can summon sandstorms. His powers aren’t something we can rival. Even if we get our hands on the Book of Amun-Ra, we will have to fight Team India.”

Zheng took a deep breath and organized this information. “Then our goal is clear. Since we’re not at a negative score anymore, we should focus on obtaining the Book of Amun-Ra as soon as possible and avoid fighting Team India… Hoho, looks like we have are going on an adventure with O’Connell and the other two characters again. They are the only ones that can find the book easily. We don’t have the skills to navigate through the traps and maze of the tomb.”

Honglu pulled several hairs, as he played with them he said, “Then we have to hurry. People who watched the movie should know that the Book of the Dead is on the hands of the Americans right now. And the main characters will be the ones that can find the Book of Amun-Ra. If I want to resurrect Anck-Su-Namun, then I will definitely do one thing… Aside from seizing the Book of the Dead, I will kill the main characters to prevent the Book of Amun-Ra from being discovered… In other words, Team India is probably on the way to the museum. If they kill the main characters before we get there and find that the Book of the Dead isn’t on the Americans, then we will be attacked by both Team India and Imhotep. That would be a checkmate on us!”

Zheng was shocked. He could not find a reason to reject Honglu’s deduction because that’s what he would do if his mission was to resurrect Anck-Su-Namun. He immediately said, “Zero and Jie, go find a high point around the museum. Me and Tengyi, Lan and Yinkong will enter the museum in pairs. Zheng made it clear that he didn’t trust the three of them. If they want to die, they could go do what they want. But he wanted to protect Honglu.

Honglu shook his head with a smile. “No need. Give me and Heng each a gun… The four of us stay here. If you fail to save the characters then we will just suicide. this web novel was originally suppose to be a oneshot book just for me to go beyond my comfort zones since the only two books i have up are a,

Fairy Tail High School Fanfic that has an OC & a Sci-fi Novel called Tokyo's Demon: Unspecified [東京の悪魔:不特定] that isn't really that great. 

My Fairy Tail High Fanfic has over 2K while TD:U/東京の悪魔:不特定 has only 99 views.

Anyways, I decided to create this chapter to inform my viewers that the characters in this oneshot honestly don't have anything going for them. i feel as if this is a knockoff version of the popular manga/anime series Naruto - especially since the main 3 cast are quite similar to them - especially Ciana and Yawata.

I'm telling you all this because I want to make something out of these cheap characters & expand on them.

I'm working on a whole other web novel called, "7EVEN セブン" that already has 3 chapters finished it's just unpublished 

Haha I've gotten so off track from my original goal: to inform you want will happen to this web novel.

I will keep the 3 one shots of the characters past, but this book will be changing. I want to write- no create a whole other story using these three main characters(they may or may not be main characters but will impact the story in some way). Yes, you will see some of the adults from those flashback chapters but they may or may not have a big or important role.

Oh and the titles will be changed from 'NANO PULSE' to something else:) you may ask why am I doing all this. Why just not make a whole other book

It is because I feel like all 800 of you loved these characters and what they could be. And I just don't want to take that away from you, but I also want to write a book I love and take interest in as well

This is a strange but true story. Our family moved to a house on Granada Street in Denver. It was an ordinary street of older homes with sidewalks running up and down both sides and lots of large trees. A lovely street.

The boys were in first and third grade and the neighborhood was brimming with children, especially since the elementary school was only a few blocks away. It wasn't hard to meet the neighbors as the children were always outside playing and we quickly became friendly with many of them.

As the story goes, there used to be a boy that lived in the house before us that was an absolute terror, breaking into homes to steal, bullying the other children, and catching sheds on fire, so it was no surprise that the entire neighborhood was relieved when this family moved away. That is all I knew.

At the time I was working at a Christian Book and Music warehouse. They had an album bin where record albums were placed. They were very inexpensive so I would pick up records for about $1 a piece, so even though I had never heard of any of these bands, I was willing to spend the buck.

I would play these records alot and many of them were excellant bands like Petra, Sweet Comfort Band, Second Chapter of Acts, etc. But I noticed when I played these records when the family was home all hell would break loose. The children would start fighting, my husband would yell and our dog, Ho-Chin, a big red Chow would get irritable and actually started to attack the children.

It finally came to a point where I had to start keeping him outside until Dad came home because he would give me nasty crusty looks and actually did bite me in the face and he bit both of my boys. I became too afraid to be left alone with him and I didn't want him around my boys. This was really weird because I had always felt safe with him. This was so out of character for him.

Now, it's not unusual for most families to have their children argue and fight from time to time but I started noticing this seemed to escalate every time I played these records, incidently, I still have them and I still play them.

I needed confirmation so, one day, my best friend Carrie was over and I told her about my suspicions. I said "Watch this". I went over and put on a record, we were standing in the archway between the living room and kitchen and sure enough, all hell broke loose again. I went over and took the record off and everything returned to normal, so now I had a witness. Weird huh?

Wait, it gets even more interesting.

The living room was brightly lit from the large windows that covered an entire wall, lots of sunshine. It really wasn't creepy at all but I was drawn to and kept looking up to the SW corner of the room. 

There wasn't a shadow or anything there that I could see as to why I would keep looking there but it was like a magnet and my eyes were constantly darting to look there often.

During the day when I was home alone, a deep dark depression would envelope me completely and I would just cry and cry. There was no reason for it but when this feeling came over me, I truly did just want to die. I'm not kidding. I am not yet putting two and two together.

But one day, I was so over taken by the intense sadness that I collapsed to my knees and with my face in my hands just wailed and wailed like I had lost a child. I happened to be in the living room just underneath this particular corner.

Then I felt a hand on my left shoulder and I immediately and completely forgot what I was crying about. Over 30 years later, try as I might, I still cannot remember what I was so upset about.

This really freaked me out because there was no one there. I'm not saying it was Jesus or my Guardian Angel, I really cannot say. I guess I'll find out that was all about when I see my life review. I'm just saying I had a religious experience that cannot be explained.

I never talked about it because I thought people would think I was nuts. But, having access to all those books at the warehouse, and being an advid reader, I soon found where other people had the experience of the hand of the shoulder.

Although their experiences and situations where different than mine, they still felt the hand and the comfort that came with it. When I read this, I was truly relieved as it confirmed I was not crazy, but I still never told anyone, not even my family or my best friend. It was just too weird.

A few days later, after that experience, there was a group of children out at the end of our walkway standing on the sidewalk. I was in the house with the front door open watching the children through the screen door. I had one of my records playing.

I was actually standing in the exact same place in the living room where I had had the touching experience. As I stood there watching the children, all of a sudden there were three bright blinding flashes in rapid procession that came from that corner. It was kind of like the flash on a camera only very much more intense.

With each flash I spun in a circle saying What, what, what and immediately after, one of those children starting screening bloody murder and took off down the street like a bolt of lightening I, of course, promptly ran outside to find out the who, what, where of "What the heck just happened?". All of the children were looking confused, and I said "What on Earth was that all about?".

Well, one of those children was the boy that used to live there. I guess his parents were visiting one of their friends and he came down to see who was living in his old house. The children said, "for no reason, this boy just starting screaming and ran down the street!",Wow! I think what was in that corner, saw him and repossessed him to get out of that house that was full of the praise and worship of Jesus.

After this occured, the household returned to normal. My depression left, the children got along better and the dog also became our protector again and became quite friendly.

If I ever have another experience like this, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you fill your heart and home with genuine praise and love the Lord with all your heart, any demon has to leave. Not sure about the sage and all that stuff, but this is what worked for me.

Anyway, that's my take on it. What do you think?

You know, I've always wondered about that little boy and I do hope that he got the help that he needed. He's must now in his mid-forties. I never knew his name, but God knows who he is. I've prayed for him often, and now that you know the story, maybe you will pray for him too.

Shi Mu sat cross-legged on his stone bed; there was a trace of hesitation in his eyes.
He had realized that the fifty-thousand silvers that he had just received were like a drop in the bucket if the consumption rate for his current practice was to be considered. Moreover, the consumption rate would increase as he leveled-up in his corresponding art. Therefore, it was time for him to study the books of Charm and Formula Magic that he had received from the General Library.
Shi Mu flipped over his right hand, and took out a jade slip that contained the Charm Magic Art. He placed it against his forehead. Suddenly, numerous characters started to float inside his mind.
He exhaled a long breath as he put down the jade slip after a while. Then, he took out the silver-colored jade slip that contained the ‘Comprehensive Introduction to Formula Arts’, and started to study it through meditation.
He had finished studying both the arts after a while. He realized that Master Ju was right – the formula and the charm art were closely related to each other. It could be said that Charm Magic was a miniature form of Formula magic.
Moreover, Charm Magic was quite simple in comparison to Formula Magic. However, it wasn’t as powerful as Formula magic. But, it still had two advantages – it was convenient to carry, and could be casted quickly. In addition, it needed only a little consumption of magic power, and could display a string of benefits.
The Formula Magic Art appeared simple in comparison to the process of drawing a paper charm. A magician had to go through incessant practice sessions to draw a preliminary level paper charm.
Drawing a paper charm was a profound path that a magician was supposed to walk-on.
Shi Mu held his chin and began to ponder as he realized that the Charm and Formula Magic Arts were closely related to each other.
Shi Mu decided to start his practice with the simpler one – the Charm Magic. He would move on to practice the Formula Art once he was proficient in the Charm Magic Art.
He was no more confused as he had finally reached a decision.  So, he put away the silver-colored jade slip and started to study ‘The Sacred Book of Charm Magic’. The first-half of the art consisted of the introduction to the Charm magic.
According to this ancient book, the charm language was a kind of heavenly language that contained the strength of Heaven and Earth. Each character of this language held the power of subtle principle within it. From a simple pattern to a complicated magic seal – everything was based on the basic foundation of charm language.
Therefore, one must be able to comprehend and draw a charm character by oneself in order to draw a paper charm. Interestingly, all charm characters had originated from the basic five elements. So, one could make complicated paper-charms by passing through different combinations – as long as one could grasp the charm characters of the basic five elements.
Shi Mu felt uneasy as he read that it was extremely difficult to comprehend the charm language. Therefore, there were only a handful of people who wished to be Charm magicians. A number of people failed to draw a single character of five elements even after practicing and learning the charm characters through painstaking meditation process for several years; all of them had eventually given up.
Shi Mu’s complexion turned pale as this thought flashed through his mind.
However, he couldn’t quit since he had chosen to be a magician practitioner and had spent a huge amount of resources to purchase the books related to this art. 
A firm and resolute look flashed through his eyes. He sat down cross-legged. Then, he took a deep breath and adjusted his mind.
A cold feeling started to swirl in his mind as his breathing became slower. Then, he picked up the jade slip with a dignified look on his face; he seemed prepared to learn the charm characters of the first five basic elements from the ancient book.
Several hundred basic charm characters were recorded in the book of ‘The Sacred Book of Magical Charms’. Shi Mu was a beginner. So, he chose the simplest character which consisted of a few strokes – a fire element charm character.
Three days passed in a blink of an eye.
Shi Mu still sat on his bed with crossed legs and closed eyes.
Suddenly, a group of fuzzy red light-balls appeared in his mind. They looked like a living creature as they went through elongated deformation; it seemed as if they wanted to transform into some characters.
The upper-half of the fuzzy red light-balls gradually took the shape of a strange mark; the lower half continued to go through the process of stretching and deforming.
"Ping" the group of red light-balls shook as they exploded.
Shi Mu issued a muffled groan, and opened his eyes. He was sweating profusely and breathing heavily; his face looked ghastly pale.
He lifted his hand and touched his face under the nose. He realized that blood was dripping down from his nostrils.
He was taken aback. He sighed and cleaned the blood. Then, he stood up and moved to the window to look outside. He got lost in thought as he stared at the dark sky.
The words written in the ancient book were correct; it was indeed difficult to understand these charm characters. He couldn’t understand the essence of even the simplest character of the fire element even after three days of meditation.
"Could it be that I don’t have the talent to become a Charm magician?" Shi Mu sighed as the thought crossed his mind.
To perceive these characters through meditation was only the first step. He would have to go through two more steps if he wished to make a paper charm.
He needed to portray each character on the paper-charm after comprehending them successfully. To draw the charm characters to make charm magic was considered to be the second step.
Every magic art of the five elements – even the simplest fireball technique – had its own corresponding formula. A simple paper charm could be made by using five or six charm characters. However, dozens or even hundreds of charm characters were required to constitute a complex paper charm.
Moreover, the process of drawing a charm character didn’t allow even the slightest mistake. It needed utmost precision and years of practice to gain expertise in making a paper charm. 
Once a symbol was drawn appropriately… then the next and the third steps were relatively easier.
The third step consisted of pouring the magic power in a properly drawn paper charm. It was similar to storing the magic power in the paper charm in advance; it would be needed to cast a magic spell in the future. So, the might of the paper charm could be unleashed – whenever needed – with a little guidance.
There were several limitations to this step even though it seemed quite simple.
A majority of Charm magicians possessed two or three element induction forces. And, one couldn’t go beyond their elements while instilling the spirit power. So, Shi Mu would have to resort to corresponding spirit stones to supplement any other element that he couldn’t sense; these spirit stones were sold at high prices.
Therefore, people had been getting confused by these three steps since the beginning.
"I’ve just started to practice the Charm magic. So, it’s too early to talk about the first two steps." Shi Mu remained silent for a long while. He shook his head to push-out all the gloomy thoughts from his mind.
He had been lost in his thoughts while staring out of the window for almost half-an-hour.
A crescent moon started to sprinkle its silver radiance in all directions as it rose from the western horizon.
Shi Mu’s face started to beam with happiness as he saw this. The weather hadn’t been good since the last few days.  Shi Mu hadn’t been able to enter his dreamland because the moon had rarely appeared. Therefore, he hadn’t been able to practice the Moon Swallowing Art. 
He stopped thinking about the Charm magic and arranged his room. Then, he opened the door and walked out. He had arrived at the open lawn in the woods after a quarter-of-an-hour.
Then, he sat down cross-legged with a calm and empty mind. Soon, he entered into his dreamland.
He again reincarnated as a white ape under the bright radiance of the moon in his dreamland. Then, he started to exhibit the posture of the Moon Swallowing Art. Several luminous dots appeared in the sky and started to stream down into the ape’s pupils – as always.
Shi Mu was exhilarated as he realized that the gathering speed of the luminous dots had increased in comparison to the previous dream. It seemed that his absorption-speed of the moonlight’s essence had increased with the enhancement of his magic powers.
A cold feeling began to grow as more and more luminous dots streamed down into his mind. The anxiety and depression caused during the practice of the magic charms gradually faded away.
The dense luminous dots that were gathering in his mind started to transform into a white fog. Then, the white fog started to gather and took the form of a cluster of milky white clouds.
Suddenly, Shi Mu’s heart skipped a beat. He realized that the cluster of white clouds in his mind seemed to be similar to the group of ‘fuzzy’ red light-balls which he had seen while he was trying to comprehend the charm language.


A wonder falling down from heaven! A boy possessed by strange blood! Gods tremble! Demons flee! A boy from the land of Dong Zhou. A pink skull as his sworn friend until death.
