

Katsuo brought the paper with him as he immediately leaved the room right after learning that one of the puzzle piece was hidden behind the school building. He rushed to the stairs. Skipping one every time he take a step. In less than a minute, Katsuo reached the back of the school. He was catching his breath as he search for the puzzle piece. He was under the shade of the building's shadow. The back of the school building was clean. But there, he found another piece of paper taped on the wall. He plucked it and read the paper's content. 

"This is not a treasure hunt but you will find me deep within the dirt." 

The ground he was standing was perfectly flattened. He looked around to see if there was newly dug soil. Something that would look suspicious for him. Hopefully looking everywhere, he found what he was looking for. He began towards it and as he expected, the soil was recently dug. His face brightened and muttered 'bingo' under his breath. He did not care if his hands got dirty. He started digging the soil. Placed inside a small bag of plastic was a puzzle piece. 

"Found it!" He brought out the jigsaw piece. Behind it was written a number. "Must be the number sequence." He placed it deep inside his pocket and happily searched for another clues. 

The cafeteria was cleared by Maki. She searched every thing she could possibly know. She went to the other cafeteria only to find nothing. She then decided to search the storage rooms. But, that was where one of the participants went earlier. So, she just went to the field. It feels weird when it was all you running around the school. It was like she was the only people in this world, searching for another one. The field was wide and she would be doing a heck lot of searching. 

"Here comes nothing..." she didn't give herself a motivation. She began lazily. Running around the school was tiring her. She wasn't cut out for this kind of test. She'd rather sit on a chair and study all night. "I'll do the field first..."

Nearly half an hour had passed since the test began. Class B has 4 puzzle piece. Class D has 3 and Class F has 3 too. All six participants haven't met with their partners yet. They tried not to searched the area where their teammates are. Aira was inside Ms. Principal's office. All of the important files were taken. Niko was inside the teachers' building. Ishika and Nin was both inside the storage rooms. Which was recently cleared by Niko. Maki was still in the field whilst Katsuo was searching the second years' building. 

"What a hassle, I've been searching for about 25 minutes. And damn, I haven't found a single piece of puzzle here in the field. I better move to some other location." 

There were just too many chairs for her to inspect each and every one of them. She's gone tired. Searching for answer wasn't her forte. 

"Oh the the paper said that it would be around here." 

It was Class B's participant, Aira. She was done searching inside the Ms. Principal's office. 

Maki immediately hide herself. She listened in on what Aira was saying. This might be her hope on finding one puzzle piece.

"Ehm, I solved the puzzle…" Tatya began saying but Elenya stopped her mid-sentence.
Elenya stamped her foot aggressively towards Tatya. "No need to delve into details!"
Tatya looked away, her eyes darting left and right.
"What about the others?" Laios asked, folding his arms.
"Probably we're the only ones that failed," Tatya said.
"It's not like we failed," Elenya protested. "More like we took a different path. That's what I want to think. I would never have failed such a menial trial if I didn't want to. Yes, that's it! I just wanted to fail the initiation because it was boring. Now I'm sitting with three other mindful persons who also thought that the initiation was boring and they were looking for an adventure."
Lander raised his hand. "I... I failed to pass the trial," he stammered.
"Pfff, you're useless..." Beautiful and Savage Elenya shouted at him. "Anyway, Tatya was caught by surprise and I… well I've told you. I was already bored and was looking for action."
"Have you searched the chamber?" Laios asked Elenya and then I turned his face toward Tatya.
Tatya shook her head and Elenya whistled as if she hadn't heard his question.
"There is a huge double door straight ahead but it's locked like the door in our dormitories. We probably need to solve the puzzle to make it further," Lander said.
I nodded to Lander and added, "Let's get to work then. It's time we solve that puzzle."

Laios bounced there immediately looking for potential clues. Elenya was fooling around while the other two, Lander and Tatya, were looking around for hints.
"Search the wall and the bricks," Laios suggested thoughtfully. "There might be a hollow one."
Tatya and Lander nodded mutely and continued their search stoically, with Lander tapping each brick with his knuckles till he heard a hollow sound. "I think I found something," he said and all three headed his way.
"I hope you're not wasting my time," Elenya scolded him, bossy as usual.
They all looked carefully toward the brick Lander had pointed out and Laios noticed that the cement around it was loose. Laios considered the situation for a few moments. They should be careful. For all he knew, this could be a trap like he had seen in countless adventure movies. It wouldn't strike as a surprise to Laios if they pulled the brick and were shot down by arrows at the same time. But before Laios could say anything to warn the lot, his dumb friend removed the brick in an instant. Laios gasped but then relaxed seeing that nothing had happened.
"There's a lever inside," Lander said casually, not fearing of traps.
"Be careful! For all we know it could be a trap," Laios warned. "You know, like the movies we've seen. You pull a lever and the entire roof is coming down with spikes. Didn't that seem just a little too easy to find?"
Lander flashed a smile and scoffed, "Oh, give me a break will ya," he said and pulled the lever. "Don't worry buddy, I've got this."
A clicking mechanism echoed from behind the wall and out of nowhere Laios heard a whistling sound from below the brick. Something like a crossbow bolt flashed out and buried itself deep in Lander's chest. Lander gasped, screamed, and fell to the ground in a pool of his own blood. Laios noticed the butt of the bolt still protruding out of his chest. He didn't know if Lander was still alive but with all that blood coming out of his wound, It wouldn't be long. All Laios could think was to take off his shirt and apply pressure around it.
"Damn!" Laios scowled as he saw his new friend dying on the cold stone floor. "We should do something! Come on, help me!" He stared at the two girls who only looked at him calmly, making him wonder what was wrong with them. How can they be so calm? Have everyone's bolts loosened in this place?

Victor observes the fireplace, "Did you notice the scale attached to the caldron? I'm guessing we have to add a certain amount of weight to the pot. When we hit a certain weight, the scenario will be complete."

"The specific weight should be..." Kai looks towards the two in the cage.

"Sacrifice Hansel and Gretel?" Abel follows his gaze.

"But judging by the food on the table, there's probably other foods in all the cabinets and drawers. I'm guessing we'll have to solve puzzles to find more food and it'll take a lot of time, but it's a second, harder option," says Victor. 

Sherlock nods in realization," I see, they're giving us two options. This option, in itself, is likely a test to divide teammates depending on their morals."

"Those with less humanity would want to sacrifice Hansel and Gretel. Those with a strong sense of justice would want to search for food." 

"But we don't know how much food to put in even if we do manage to find everything?" Pierre questions. 

Theodore lifts up cage with one hand and gives an estimation," Should be around two-hundred."

Kai denies his solution, "We can't rely on an estimation. Plus, we don't know how much weight the cage is contributing.

While holding the cage, he's been investigating it," Then we'll need a key." He points to a keyhole.

Abel suddenly pipes up, "They haven't reacted to anything, meaning they're like the previous characters we've met."

"They'll probably only move when we do certain actions. They probably have on-command reactions to different situations." Sherlock contributes the theory he's been working on. 

"We need to find their weight and find enough food." Lucien concludes.

Victor wants Tih's input, "Boss, what do you think-" 

Everyone looks towards Tih as he rips off a piece of fruit roll-up wallpaper and stuffs it into his mouth. There's already a large portion missing from the wall, meaning he's been at it for a while. Tih hasn't really been paying attention to their conversation, instead focusing on the sweet smelling house.

"..." Sherlock is slightly embarrassed by his group's unprofessionalism. 

In the silence, they all hear munching coming from behind. They turn to see Basile munching on gingerbread brick he slid it out of the frosting that was keeping it in place. Basile munches on it like corn, spinning the brick on its sides. Frosting nips the tip of his nose but he has no hands to wipe it off, but he doesn't seem to care. His unfeeling red eyes stare at the brick as his chipmunk cheeks bulge. He doesn't seem to care about his appearance, much like Tih.

Sherlock, who no longer feels embarrassed, and the others look at the two foodies and admire their lax attitude before getting back on topic.

As the leader of four geniuses, Victor doesn't take much time to fit into his role. "Then let's split up and look for fruit and the key to the cage. Agreed?" 

Everyone nods and gets to work. Some start opening cabinets and other start opening drawers below the counter. They're starting with the doors without locks or puzzles on them. Some find food, codes, keys, or other puzzle pieces used for other puzzles they haven't looked at yet. Everything they find is placed on the countertop. 

While others are busy searching, Tih and Basile continue snacking on the walls.

Tih walks from one end of a wall to another, ripping the wallpaper off with him. He munches on it like cattle and it all disappears into his mouth. He walks near Basile to try a red and white circular candy. 

The albino breaks off piece of licorice and stuffs it inside his jacket. He continues collecting bits of confections and it all disappears inside his jacket, but no matter how much he shoves in, his jacket doesn't grow any larger.

"Eh? Was this always here?" The group turn to look at where Theodore is pointing. It's the wall Tih ripped. Behind the fruit wallpaper was a hidden code. 

"Looks like we need to search in unconventional places as well." Sherlock notifies.

Lucien questions, "Can't we use this?" He knocks on the walls, referring to the entire edible house. 

Kai explains,"Gingerbread is too light and candy would melt, so there's no point in putting it in the caldron. The floorboard beneath Kai creaks. Curious, he tries to lift it up. Underneath lies a code and a banana. 

After gathering all the clues in one small pile, Victor speaks up once more," Everyone take one thing and try it on everything until it works. Or if you think you can do it, try one of the doors with puzzles." Everyone either grabs a letter, number, or symbol code, a key, or a piece to a puzzle and start trying them on every door it might belong to. After opening one and grabbing the things inside, it would be sorted on the counter and the process would repeat. 

All the clues are different, they can't be used twice. There's one key thats end can be turned to create different patterns and enter different shaped holes .

Occasionally, there's also objects like magnifying glasses or wrenches. 

Pierre uses the wrench to unscrew a, too small to be done manually, screw made out of some kind of hard candy that can't be broken. 

Some of the many puzzles include sliding puzzles, ball-in-a-maze, brain teasers, anagrams, chess problems, a cross sums puzzle, a cryptogram, and a disentanglement puzzle. Often, there will be multiple puzzles that are interlaced together. The groups need to work together for those ones.

I was about to choke on what I saw. I uttered "clear search." The search field was cleared. I again repeated "Current location please ?" and then uttered "Search " The results remained the same.

I was flabbergasted. "Where the hell am I ? How did I get here ? Shit shit shit .Forget  the place I am not even my universe- "Milky way" .  And how does this person have a regular earthly name - Ethan ??  Now it became crystal clear to me as to why everything was out of place. I was in a panic mode and started sobbing hysterically. "Mom,  mom, mom . I so wish she could here me now. I must have been considered to be dead on earth. Will I ever be able to get back?  Oh god help me"

Out of desperation I tried doing telepathy to my mom, although I just couldn't concentrate. I just heard a murmur which died down within few seconds. I started freaking out. If I were in milk way but in a different star system I could have still made the connection through telepathy. But this was a completely different universe.  There seem to be some kind of barrier and the communication wouldn't go through. And it seemed like I was loosing hope by the minute.

As my sobbing continued I again said "clear search" and uttered "Details on universe Milky Way and earth please " and uttered "Search"

I couldn't  accept that this was happening to me . Were the dark forces so advanced that they pushed me here ? How else could I have come so far to an unknown universe? Was Ethan part of dark forces? Why else has he held me captive?  Do the dark forces have their base here. I could not stop my sobs. I was panicking and scared at the same time. I could not handle the shock. I just wanted to end everything and wanted to get back.

I quickly said "Clear search" and then uttered " Ways of multiverse travel" and then said "Search"

The screen quickly flashed the below results

With current  advancement of space travel machine existing on Roingloss - Distance travelled reduced to 1800 light years.  That's only 200 light years less. I will be dead in another few hundred years. 

The greatest scientists on our mother planet were able to mutate the genome sequence of our species enabling an average person to live only upto 500 years and a person with more powers than an average person upto 1000 years. A rarely gifted person upto 1500 years. And I fell into average category. Let alone traveling I would be dead by the time I get access to this space travel machine. I wondered if Ethan was capable of trying to get his hands on this machine for me to even try travelling in it. 

As my hopes seemed to dim.  I planned to keep Ethan as a last resort to seek help from. I wanted to get out of this place on my own even if i had to die at the clutches of the ferocious beasts. I was very upset with Ethan . But I could not show my frustrations to him until I had a solid escape  plan. You never  know when I may need his help although I had started loathing him.

I started wracking my brain to recall any fictional movies which I had watched with my friends  or the novels I had read while on earth. Although people on earth felt it was all fantasy and fictional, I did not want to let any single opportunity slip by.  If I had to get to this place at such fast speed there had to be other ways. How else did I get here ? 

I started to recall all the movies related to space travel , intra dimensional movies , novels I read and trying to think of something unusual in those movies or stories. I also had read somewhere that when you are under a life threatening attack you either fight or you flight. And sometimes during such flights the soul just wants to live and not die. In extremely rare conditions the soul just gets teleported to a parallel universe for the purpose of survival. You literally vanish. I had also read about a woman who claimed to be from parallel universe . So there had to be a faster way out other  than the time travel machine

While I was in deep concentration this particular word stuck to my head.  "Wormhole". I thought of giving search for this word on the tab again. I quickly searched for wormhole in tab and the below description flashed on the screen.

That's it. I quickly wiped my tears. I had to find the wormhole. I was not bothered about the route through which I had come here. I was now interested to find out how to get back.

I knew i had to do a quick math and get few facts right  to get all the puzzle pieces together . I knew I was bad in math but I thought I could rely on this tab if made any mistakes during calculations. Again I knew that if I made one mistake everything could go wrong. I had to be  extremely careful. I also had to get certain information out of Ethan which were few of the puzzle pieces.  Again I could not store any such data collected in this tab  for the reason that if anytime I planned my journey this tab was not handy and also I don't know if any of my activities on the tab is being tracked or monitored. 

" Oh god ! " suddenly I realised that I was doing search on tab to find the details all this while. Till the time I was searching for where I was , it was ok. But I also searched for wormhole. If Ethan has a way to know what I was searching , i may be in trouble. I'll have to find ways to cover my path.

Before even starting to look around for other details I should have checked for the usage instructions of the tab. I seemed to have made a blunder.

I had to clear the search history and any other traces before Ethan could find out. I quickly went back to the search window , cleared the existing search criteria and uttered , "Webopedia instructions " . The search refused to give any results.  "Oh damn why does it have to fail me now?"

I felt time was running out.  I had calculated an interval of 6 hours for Ethans next visit. I had slept for 3.5 hours and I did not know how the time had flown and I was not aware how much time had passed after I started exploring the device and searching for universe and wormhole. It was risky to turn on the mobile now to check for time. I roughly estimated that I may have like 30 mins or may be even less than that to spare before Ethans visit.

I started getting nervous. I had to erase the search history before Ethan came. Was my luck so terrible? In my mind I was frantically praying , that all the searches performed by me so far should not be discovered . My mind was blank.  I quickly cleared the search again and uttered "Webopedia user instructions" and behold the instructions flashed just in time for Ethan to open the door. Forget clearing history on the tab I had not even given a chance to look into the instructions. "God save me" . I started fidgeting my fingers. 

 I saw Ethan closing the door behind him and saw me sitting on the cot with tab in hand. He gave me a quick grin . My eyes were swollen as I had been crying. I tried to put up a fake smile hoping he would not notice my eyes. Even if noticed I had to come up with convincing answer . 

But right now I was really worried what if  he were to get to know my search results. From his grin I was sure that he may not have checked anything till now. I was just hoping things to go my way. I just tried to calm myself and tried to look as normal as possible just to avoid raising any suspicion.
