Synopsis:

BTS, Bangtan Sonyeondan, Bulletproof Boy Scouts, Beyond The Scene. The idol group had various names, but to Iris, BTS would forever be her inspiration, both in music and in life.

She had first encountered them by accident during BTS’s American Hustle Life. Curious and smitten by the adorably awkward boys who couldn’t speak English very well, she later discovered that they were K-pop idols. Upon discovering K-pop, she realized her passion for singing and dancing. She joined the Korean Culture Club at her university and participated in K-pop dance covers.

But as a practical girl, she never pursued music seriously. As a second generation American to Thai and Chinese parents, she felt a responsibility to graduate college and be a successful businesswoman. But BTS was the wildcard in her life. When she fatefully met them again during their Wings world tour, her life would never be the same again.

Tossed into the brutal world of K-pop, she became somehow became a Big Hit trainee!

Question: Why is this listed as Realistic Fiction instead of Fan Fiction?

1) The MC is Iris Huang, a fictional character along with her family and the other Big Hit trainees. Any k-pop idols included in this story are secondary leads.

2) BTS are not the only k-pop included in this story; thus, this is more of a k-pop fanfic if anything. With that said, they are more integral to the story than the others.

But because this story began as an entry into the BTS writing competition, I have since after its end gotten some hate for writing it merely due to BTS fanfics swamping the Fan Fiction section. (I really don't see the case for it because the top popular fan fics listed only showed 3 BTS fan fics including mine much lower down the browsing results. But with the contest, the sudden influx probably messed up the New section.)

In short, imagine this as a fictional story that's realistic in being set in the modern world and time with real-life people's names. This story was never completely about BTS, it was about Iris surviving in the music industry. It's like saying a fantasy story can't also be a romance; even though, the story may be listed under Fantasy as the main genre.

3) I see stories on here not listed as fan fiction when they're based on TV shows and series, and the story MC is clearly the MC of that original show. Since I think my story follows Realistic Fiction more than as a BTS fan fiction since it isn't totally centered around them, I changed it two weeks after the competition ended. Additionally, now no one can complain about their favorite fan fiction being overrun by BTS ones.... I don't want to inadvertently add to the hate that BTS receives for stupid reasons like this.

"Just wait 5–no 30 more minutes please." The woman answered lazily.

"But the breakfast, I mean brunch I cooked for us is gonna get cold." he said slowly lowered his lips to hers. He gave her a deep penetrating kiss, which the woman reciprocated. The kissed finished and he pulled away from her gently.

"Hubby, please understand this tired wifey," she said while breathing heavily. "Just let me sleep more. Do you even know how much of a monster you are last night? I haven’t even finished my work yet!"

"Fine, I’m sorry dear wife. This hubby was just making up for this busy week. I just wanted to feel you but I couldn’t control myself. Forgive me please? I know you wanted it too." he teased.

"Yes, yes, wifey forgives, because she also wanted it. Now let me sleep some more!"

Suddenly, they heard the door of their bedroom creak. A little boy came running to the bed and pouncing on the woman.
"Eek!"

"Mommy! Wake up please. Xiao Xiao has come back from grandmama’s home. Xiao Xiao misses mommy, so mommy please wake up?"

"Xiao, get off of your mom. She’s in pain."

"Okay daddy," the boy said sadly as he moved away from his mother dejectedly.

"Shi Shi, wake up please. I’ll compensate by letting you off for tonight."

"I cooked your favorites," the man said in a gentle voice.

"Really?"

"Yes, really," he said while the woman called Shi Shi snuggled against his chest. 'Truly, the way to a woman’s heart is through food or was it supposed to be a man’s heart?' he thought.

"Ahhhh! Xiao Xiao wanna joins cuddle hug too!" the little boy ran up to them and opened his arms wide.

The tiny family hugged each other for a little while before pulling away.

"Xiao Xiao go to the dining room and wait for mommy and daddy. Let’s go to the amusement park today."

"Really daddy?"

"Yes baby." he replied.

"Yehey! Mommy, daddy please hurry up. I’ll go wait at the dining room!" the boy shouted as he left.

"Now wifey let’s go clean you up. Your breath stinks, your hair is flying everywhere, and I bet you’re wet down there."

As the title suggests, this section is of how I came up with this character. I'm doing this mostly cause I suck at writing and I can't come up with anything for the next chapter, so bear with it. I guess. No one's forcing you to.

This story goes back to a dark time in most people's life, high school. Ava didn't start out in her own world or her own story. She came out of a crappy Final Fantast 7 fan fic I came up with at some point. And her name was Eden at the time. Why? 'Cause I thought it sounded cool. The biggest reason she's female is because of how I grew up. I grew up in a mostly female household. My sisters always had control over the tv and movies and whatnot. So it was constant "girly" movies. Stuff like Mulan, Pocahontas, The Powerpuff Girls, Bratz and even Barbie. I never actually had a favorite Barbie movie, they were all torture. (Princess and the Pop Star. Fight me b****). Normally a young boy would hate this and would rather be watching Transformers or something, but not this guy. I liked these movies growing up. I discovered Final Fantasy around middle school and really enjoyed it. By the time I was in high school and, for some reason, decided to make a fan fiction and I made Ava. I automatically made her female because I grew up with badass female characters; Mulan, Pocahontas, Ripley, Wonder Woman, etc. So I wanted to make a character as awesome as they were. Originally I was going to make her more like one character that I had already come up with in middle school(still doing rewrites on that character to this day .-.). This was like peak emo phase so she was going to be extremely edgy. But then it hit me, none of my favorite characters were necessarily edgy. They had their dark moments, but they also had their charming and whimsical moments. So I strayed from making her too much like Elisa (that's the character). Back to business; after the whole fan fiction fiasco, I finally played a Final Fantasy (I did like Final Fantasy in middle school, but hadn't actually played one until high school). And that game was Final Fantasy 13, one of the worst in the series, but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. I got so into it that I researched as much as I could about 13 and found the whole Nova Chrysalis thingy. In the process I discovered Final Fantasy Type-0, a game out of the Nova Chrysalis mythology. It still hadn't received its western release, but I got my hands on a PSP emulator and downloaded a fan translation version of the game. Over time the FF7 fan fiction became a Type-0 fan fiction. It was then that I had finally named her Ava and in that fan fic she was actually one of the newest members of Class Zero. Throughout most of high school I kept that fan fiction until one day I thought to myself, why don't I make Ava her own thing? I didn't entirely scrap the fan fic however. If I somehow end up making more than one chapter, and if you've played Type-0, you'll notice that I kept a ton of elements from it, some stuff from 13, and some pretty heavy inspirations from Wonder Woman. Since then I've come up with my own things to add to her world expanding it as much as I can, but can't actually write any of it because it sounds better in my mind and when I finally write it I end up thinking "I am an insult to all writers out there". And that is her origin as a character. 

Small little bonus:
Sometime during my senior year I had gotten pretty decent at drawing so I researched all kinds of armor that I could apply to Ava. The female body has always been easier for me to draw so drawing Ava wasn't that much of a big deal (I once tried to draw Spider-Man, but I subconsciously drew a female so I ended up with Gwen Stacy's Ghost Spider instead). After much research on female armor I finally got down to drawing it. And it sucked. Bad. I did keep it though. Mostly because it's the only succesful one I've drawn and still use the armor design to this day. If I ever make it to the point when she gets her armor, describing it will be hell.

And I think that's about it. Toodles.

"Yeah! That's awesome!" Su Jinyu couldn't help but be ecstatic.
That was basically a game she and Zheng Hongxi worked together without Chen Mo's help, so it was particularly special.
(If Chen Mo asking Zheng Hongxi to change the story multiple times didn't count as helping.)
Zheng Hongxi finally breathed a sigh of relief and let out a smile. Despite being asked by Chen Mo to make many changes to the story as well as several big changes to the story, it was finally over.
This process improved Zheng Hongxi's understanding of writing for games as well as his understanding of manipulating the emotions of the players.
Now Zheng Hongxi was looking forward to the reaction of the players, will they like his writing?
Chen Mo installed Lifeline onto Chang Xiuya's phone, "You'll be our first labrat."

Chang Xiuya was curious.
Everyone knew that Su Jinyu and Zheng Hongxi had been working hard to make an interactive fiction, but they didn't know what type of game it would be or anything about the story.
There were many interactive fictions in this world and was one of the more classic genres. Many video game designers who liked story driven games would usually have interactive fiction as their first game.
It was partially because that the game was easy to make, all it needed was a good story. Other resources would include getting a good set of artwork and probably outsourcing someone to do the audio as well.
However, as there were so many interactive fictions on the market, it was significantly harder to break through as well.
The interactive fictions of this world were very much similar to the previous world, mostly city life or transmigration to medieval times. This was because most interactive fiction players are female, and they tend to like these themes more.
Chang Xiuya also played interactive fictions, but after playing a million different interactive fictions, most of their story would coalesce into one, making it quite boring after a while.
If the only difference between interactive fictions were their story, they may as well read novels instead.
Chang Xiuya was worried that Lifeline would be similar to other interactive fictions. However, since the manager overlooked this, his games are usually...
Yep, other than I Am MT being a little bit scummy, the other games were quite creative.
The icon of the game was fairly dark, with a small person in it who looked like an astronaut. The top right of the icon had a weird radio wave icon.
"Umm. Is it scifi? That's fresh."
Chang Xiuya tapped on the icon, entering the game.
She was then met with a pop-up window, "Lifeline is an interactive fiction that spans over a few days. Your gaming experience might be affected without push-notifications. Please enable push-notifications to enhance your experience."
Chang Xiuya tapped on 'Allow'.
A window that looked like a chatting app popped up. Soon, messages started appearing.

"Hello?"
"Does this work?"
"Can anyone hear me?"
Chang Xiuya was a bit shocked after the questioning, but now two different choices appeared in the bottom: 'Who's there' and 'Yes I can hear you'.
Chang Xiuya felt that these had about the same meaning and wouldn't affect the story, then tapping on 'Yes I can hear you."
"Oh, thank goodness! I was finally able to contact someone!"
"I've waited for hours!"
Another two choiced popped up: 'Who are you?' and 'What happened'?
Chang Xiuya thought that it would be better to ask who they were, tapping 'Who are you?'.
After two choices, Chang Xiuya already understood the difference between this and other interactive fictions.
Lifeline didn't have any narration or background descriptions, it was set up entirely as a chatting software. But instead of chatting with real people, the player would be chatting with fictional characters from the game.
Conveying the world using a sci fi chatting app improved the immersion. This included sending the player notifications, giving the player an impression that they were talking to a real person.
Chang Xiuya started chatting to this astronaut named Tyler based on what she felt was right.
Through chatting, Chang Xiuya discovered that Tyler was an astronaut on a cargo pod, but crashed on an alien plant. However, he was now completely lost. He was a student who boarded to perform an experiment, and had no experience in dealing with emergency situations like these.
However, Tyler seemed quite optimistic, even making jokes in such dire situations.
Chang Xiuya even laughed at the jokes he made.
"So is the final task to help this astronaut escape? Doesn't seem too difficult. It's probably easier than the crazy scenarios from Chinese dramas set in ancient times right..." thought Chang Xiuya.
"There's a white mountain nearby that's a few miles out. But this mountain... looks a bit weird, it's vertically symmetrical so it doesn't seem quite natural."
"The crash site of Varia seems a bit closer than the mountain. What should I do?"
There were two choices: 'Head towards crash site' or 'Head towards mountain'.
Chang Xiuya knew that this was a key choice for the plot. As Tyler hinted, the mountain was shaped weird, and it was further away, obviously he should go towards the crash site!
Chang Xiuya chose 'Head towards crash site'.
"Makes sense, there could be survivors..."
"Alright, I'm heading South. This should take at least one hour. I'll let you know when I get there."
Afterwards, the system displayed a 'Tyler is now busy' message.
Chang Xiuya was shocked, what is this?
There weren't any other choices, and Tyler stopped talking as well. The game just stopped without any further notifications.
Chang Xiuya looked back at what Tyler said.
"It can't be that he's really going to message me an hour?!"
Chang Xiuya was shocked. It was the first time she encountered an interactive fiction like this, making the player wait for an hour for nothing?!

My name isn't really relevant to this story. But it just so happens to be the same name as the Female Lead. This isn't a fan fiction!! It's a story I've had and dreamt of. The female lead of this story is in no way connected to me or ever will be! I am not basing the female lead off any story, this is just my imagination. However, names from people that I know in real life will be used and names from K-Pop idols will be too. But this isn't a "Y/N" fan fiction. I would've used different names but I've already started this story and changing the names will be confusing. Not just for the readers but me as well. I've written this story before but I don't feel as though it got my story across or I didn't do a good job writing it. So there will be some changes that seem more realistic. I was continuing at where I left at before but I just didn't see my story so I thought it would just be better if I began from square one. And so here I am! I won't have a scheduled posting time(?) meaning I'll just post when I feel like this chapter is of good quality. Okay! Now about me a little! I still take classes or like go to school. In all honesty, writing essays isn't my forte, but writing essays is different from writing a story. I speak 2 languages but I'm learning another one for an event being held in 3 months that I'll be participating in. I took 2 years of art, so I really like drawing but I don't feel like I'm good or anything. I wish I could dance but I simply can't. I play soccer or at least used to. Erm. What else...oh! Piano. I like playing the piano, I really want to play the guitar so bad!! My favorite color is dependent on my mood and day. I don't have any favorite food because I'm not really picky and could eat anything, well mostly anything. I don't like pickles,sausages/hotdogs,bacon,peanut butter,almonds, and I forgot the rest. 🤣 it's hard to talk about myself since I don't know where to start. Anyways, for now that will be all about me. I hope you guys like this better and updated version of this story!
