Order of Ysterra.
In this age of virtual reality gameplay, there was nobody in this country—nay, the world—who had not heard of this series title. Its history dated back to when personal VR consoles were announced to the world. 
Back then, the manipulation of the game was still through motion control. Due to its limit of space and the physical stamina of console users, games were mostly arcade-style in nature. Rhythm games, old-style battle games, first-person tower defense games… majority of the world's gamers who found value in open-world MMORPGs or multiplayer arena games never switched over to VR.
This was true only until the collaboration of Bleurotech and Ulysse Games.
When the two leading companies in the field of neurotechnology and game development announced the manufacture of VR Capsule Beds and the very first neuro-linked open-world MMORPG, the world went wild. Debates began and never ended, media gossips were hot, and, needless to say, the gaming community had its sole attention drawn to the beta release of this ground-breaking game.
Skip ahead  a few years, a lot had changed. The game turned out to be a huge success and opened a new era of VR gaming. Bleurotech was merged and acquired by Ulysse Games, who now held the patent for neuro-link game consoles. Half a year ago, they announced the release of a compact version of the Capsule Bed—now placed directly over the head as a Capsule Helmet—and a sequel to the original Order of Ysterra, Order of Ysterra: Nova.
And today was the grand release day of the Capsule Helmet and Ysterra Nova, now with its completely new content which was to be infinitely updated through AI programming.

"Holy crap."
Jung Dohyuk stood in front of his bed with the matte black Capsule Helmet in his trembling hands. This was it. The long-awaited moment of revelation. This would go down in history, and he would have been a part of it. 
Dohyuk slid the helmet over his head and laid himself down on the bed. The signature factory smell of a new gadget tickled his nose as he lay there with his mouth oddly twisted, failing to resist his beaming smile. He reached to the side of his helmet and pressed the power button. Here goes nothing.
He wasn't sure whether the indescribable tingling sensation in what felt like his brain was real or just his imagination chattering. When he opened his eyes, albeit virtually, he was greeted by a gigantic title.

Dohyuk still remembered the day he had first played Order of Ysterra. Heejoon, his college dorm roommate, had dragged him down to the Capsule Bed Café. That was the beginning of his hunting journey. He logged over 2000 hours of gameplay in the span of four years and had joined a named guild with Heejoon. It took three and a half years of hardcore grinding to reach the endgame for the monster slaying route. 
There were countless different contents for countless different job routes. The monster battle route was the most popular among the players of Ysterra, with its infallible battle simulation and tactical challenges. Order of Ysterra never supported making second characters or re-starting the data, however, so there wasn't much new content available once the final boss had been defeated.
This never stopped Dohyuk from playing the game. He had always been somewhat of a perfectionist. He was the one to appreciate itty-bitty details in a movie and find joy in neatly aligned numbers. So he started using the capture system of the game to capture literally every creature in the game. Not only monsters, but bugs, fish, small animals… Critters, as the game would call them.
Time went by, and he began to circulate the continents, islands, and oceans to fill up his Great Encyclopedia of Critters. In fact, it took him three more months of grinding to catch 99.9% of the in-game Critters. 
Every single one of them except the final one.

"Why even bother making a character creation if they're not gonna let us change our appearance?" Dohyuk grumbled to himself as he stared at his same old face in the mirror.
True enough, the only appearance options that could be altered were things that could also be changed relatively easily in real life, such as hair, clothes, and cosmetics. This wasn't new to Ysterra Nova—even in the prequel, the game did not let users change their in-game appearances "for the sake of realistic experience". 
In the end, his black, slightly wavy bangs rested on his forehead, just like they did in real life. He chose a basic top and bottom set without much care, as they should be easily replaced a few days into the game. He was honestly just eager to start playing the game. 
One final step remained before he could commence the tutorial.

He had continued his search for the Final Critter. However, no matter how hard he searched—both within the game and in the depths of the internet—there was no trace of the Final Critter whatsoever.
Although Ysterra Nova was released, Dohyuk had to carry on the sheer weight of that remaining 0.01% in his completionist heart. It quite literally pained him knowing that he had combed through every nanometre of the game to no avail. 
At this point, he was more obsessed with completing the Great Encyclopedia of Critters than monster hunting itself.
And that was precisely what he was going to do in the game.

"Chase," murmured Dohyuk. "My name is Chase."

Ysterra Nova, a brand new sequel to a popular VR open-world MMORPG game, was just released. Jung Dohyuk had never been able to reach 100% on his Grand Encyclopedia of Critters in the prequel with only one more Critter to catch. 

Peeved at the fact that he was never able to find the Final Critter, Dohyuk is determined to capture the crap out of that little nutjob. And just has he is about to exit the tutorial, he finds a secret area that resembles a nest...

In the darkness of the night, Avery had come to an abandoned factory far away from the city, as per that stranger demand. There was a man in that abandoned factory to show her way. That man was sent to pick her up by that unknown person.
The security at this time was very loose which had never happened before and so she could easily get out of the mansion. That made her surprise. A car was already parked for her when she came a little away from the mansion.
The man with her led her towards a black iron door and told her to go inside. When he opened the iron door and she went inside, it was completely dark. Avery tightened her grip on the file in her hand. That place was cold as ice, but she was sweating because of fear. She wiped the sweat on her head with the pallu of her sari.
She just wanted to hand over the file and free her mother and brother from the clutches of that unknown person.
"Is there anyone." She asked in a trembling voice.
"yes, I am here for you." Avery widened her eyes when she heard the voice. Because this sound was different than the sound of that phone call. But in that dark room, she did not know exactly where the sound was coming.
"Come in front of me." She asked the unknown person and at the same time all the lights in that dark hall turned on and the person came in front of her. Her eyes widened at the sight of the person. And only one word came out of her mouth.
"YOU?"
" Yes, I am. You did not expect me. Am I right."
"Yes," Avery really didn't expect. The person who caused her to leave the country. She did not expect such a meeting with that person.
Now Avery had understood that Clara played this lousy game with her, so she decided, get to the point without wasting the time.
"I have brought the file you mentioned. Now release my mother and brother.
"Ha Ha Ha...."Clara laughed out loud. "You are so naive, Avery."
" I have not come so far as to know whether I am naive or not. Take this file and release my mother and brother"
"Do you think I just called you for this file? I mean, I made all these plots to get you here."
"Huh...."
"You don't understand. I'll explain it to you. I told you to leave this country. You were gone too as per my plan. Then why did you come back?" Clara yelled at her.
"I didn't come back myself. Alex brought me back."
"You could have stopped him."
"Clara," Avery smirked. "I think you know Alex better than me. So you tell me, Is it possible to say no to him?" There was a point in Avery's words that made Clara silent for a moment.
"And yet I was in a situation where I had no choice but to come back with him. Take this file and..."
"And and release my mother and my brother free. That's what you want to say."
"Yes."
"But I will not set your mother and brother free. Because I don't have them both."
"But how is this possible? That that video. .."
"Because" Clara approached Avery and snatched the file from her hand and whispered in her ear, "Because this is the world of technology and I used that technology to make those two videos."
"What?"
"Yes. That's why I told you some time ago that you are very naive. In fact, I sent my men to kidnap your mother and brother, but your mother and your brother were not at home."
That was a big shock for Avery. She wondered where her mother and brother had gone. But she wanted to get out of the factory. So she asked Clara.

"I'm not," Clara shouted again. "Just because of you..." She pointed to Avery ".. because of you Alex is still not married to me."
"That is not my problem."
" Yes, yours. If you don't, Alex will find another way for that land. And will marry me too. And what you think is just a deal file. Actually, with the help of this file, I can take full ownership of Alex's property in my hands.
Clara was completely mad at the time. Avery had nothing to say to her. That time she was more concerned about the child in her womb than herself.
"Clara listen."
" No, I'm not going to hear anything today. Today I am going to close your chapter here." Clara pointed the gun at her. "Count the last seconds of your life my dear Avery."
Avery closed her eyes and placed both her hands on her belly. She was relieved that her mother and brother were safe. But right there she was sorry for her unborn child.

"Bad move Clara." It was him. Both looked in the direction of the voice. Alex was standing beyond an open window, which was closed until now.
" I didn't think you would do this." Alex jumped through the window and came inside. Ethan and one of his bodyguards came after him. Clara was shocked to see him but there was too much anger in Avery's eyes for him.
"What is this Clara."
"Then You tell me, Alex, what I have to do. You are not marrying me because of this Avery." Clara went to Alex and put her hand on his chest. "I'm very angry with you"
"Tell me. What can I do to make you happy?"
"Marry me."
"Not now Clara."
"Then make my night special."
"Okay." There was a different kind of smirk on Alex's lips at that time. He gestured to Ethan, "Ethan, Take her to the farmhouse and take care of her in room number five. I will message you the rest of the instructions."
"Sir you are sure." Ethan hesitated.
"Yes, definitely."
"You never told me about a farmhouse before," Clara asked Alex.
"Because I was waiting for today."
"Okay, then I am going." Clara kissed Alex on his cheek and left. But before she could left, she whispered in Avery's ear. "See how much Alex loves me. He said nothing to me even though I was going to take your life."
After Clara left, Alex immediately approached Avery.
" I told you not to go out anywhere until I was back. Why didn't you listen to me" Alex was talking to her but her attention was on somewhere? He pulled his hand gloves and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"Let me check you if you hurt."
"SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP ALEX." She jerked his hand over her shoulder. "Stop this drama."
"Drama."
"Yes! Yes! drama. I don't want your fake concern." She took a step back.
"Do you understand what you are talking about? I came here to save you. And you....."
"STOP! Just stop this. Stop lying Alex .. I would have believed but I can't believe you anymore."
"What do you mean."
"What I mean. I mean, close this your dirty game Alex because I know everything.
Clara has tried to kill me not only today but also before. And you know it. You have a record of her every crime." Alex's eyes widened when he heard Avery and he understood why Avery was talking like that.
"Ave just Listen to me."
"No! I don't want to hear anything. I used to think that Clara is a very good person in your eyes. And that's why you love her. But no...she is a criminal and yet you love her. Am I worse than her?"
" Not like that.."
"Stop! let me Finish today. She was the one who was behind that incident in New York. She was also involved in sending me to India. She was also behind Raghav's entry. And today, she was going to take my life again along with your unborn child.
She sent her men several times to kill me. And you... " 
She paused for a moment. "I just danced with David at the fresher's party and you called me bitch. And what about Clara. For her, the words bitch and slut are very minor. She murdered many people for money. But you loved her. She slept with so many men for money. But you loved her. Not only loved but her but also your baby in her womb. And what about me. "Don't touch me Alex. You are really a monster for."
The word monster made Alex even angrier and he grabbed Avery by the shoulder.
"Monster huh, Let me show you today what monster can do." Alex stood her up and started pulling her.
"Alex what are you doing? You are hurting me, Alex." Alex quickly stopped and looked at Avery and in a second Avery was in Alex's arms. She was trying to free herself from his grip but she was nothing in front of his strength. Alex put her in the passenger seat and drove the car.

The glass factory had both night and morning shifts since machines operated 24 hours a day. Other than the huge demand, the silicate within the machines would solidify immediately after it cooled. Having molten glass shards amid the inner workings of a machine would prove hard to remove, and hiring a technician would cost the factory a lot of money.
For that reason, many people worked in the factory at night. After observing for a while, Zhang Heng saw nobody had left the factory except for those moving materials around. Not one person deviated from their respective tasks, looking as if their movements were synchronized. Nobody talked to each other like they were a group of strangers.
Even though they were working hard, the scene was terrifying to watch.
Emphasizing strict discipline, modern society had turned workers into machines. Nonetheless, no matter how hard they tried, no human in this world could work like one.
Upon witnessing the scene, he was certain that the aliens must have replaced the factory workers.
He also discovered that one of the four workshops was not in use, seeing how no workers approached it.
However, the interesting part was a few security guards were guarding it. Not only was the workshop under the shadow of a few security cameras, but guards from the factory would patrol the area every hour. Zhang Heng realized that the three workshops that operated nonstop were probably a cover for whatever they were doing there.
The workshop looked like a monster with a gaping mouth in the dark, waiting to devour all that entered it.
Although Zhang Heng knew right away that it wasn't a place he was supposed to approach, it was too late to give up on the plan now.
He quickly flew the drone, checking the locations of all the security cameras in the factory. He was also interested in seeing how many security guards were actually there, analyzing their patterns and movements. Half an hour later, the drone ran out of battery, and he had to fly it back to the van.
 Bai Qing would be there to grab it, and Zhang Heng could finally be on the move.
Since the front entrance faced the security room, it would be impossible to enter the heavily guarded workshop from there. Not to mention the overkill of cameras that did an excellent job monitoring the place. Fortunately, it was not without its blind spots.

Little did Zhang Heng know that accepting those terms meant embroiling himself in many versions of reality and exposing himself to the hidden secrets of the world—a decision he could never undo.

The griffin told him that the most dangerous seasons of all , the chaotic season lasted only for about 30 days. The dense group of cloud came from a foreign lands within the horizon of the ocean once every year after the main winter seasons. The cloud would make the sky turn green and cover the entire continent , every living beings would take cover from the green stones that rains from the could as it could transform them into mindless killers that would eat anything in sight. 'That would be another reason for the barrier..'

"Then what is with the chain and why are you here." The young man touched the big black chain and felt a sense of coldness that went through his suit. 'It can penetrate the nano fibers..' The griffin released a sigh as it shook his head. "I don't know what is this exactly....When I was flying around , I noticed the chaotic storm approaching faster than usual , with no where else to stay , I found this ravine and hid in here." Deeper within the ravine was a gigantic tunnel that stretched out very far , the griffin made it's why until it saw a old green looking gate and when it got closer , a black chain came from the wall and chased the beast. Before it could fly away , the chain wrapped around it's leg and kept it down the ravine for more than a year.

"Then a monster came by and threw a stone at me after seeing that I couldn't move." After scanning the chain , Nodus noticed that it took more times than usual for the black loading circle to fill up. "What are monsters?" The young man stood in front of the cave as he gather more details from the griffin and it turns out that the radioactive stone weren't the only danger about the storm. From times to times , the storm would reanimate the corpses that has been buried or left behind and they became killing monsters. Even bones weren't left behind as it could also turn into a monster. Burning the corpse or covering it with a simple magic graph would prevent the chaotic storm to turn them into monsters.

The brainless monster who held no fear toward death , would attack anyone else in sight and with a simple scratch , it could contaminate any living being that it came in contact with."Is there no cure?" The griffin nodded and explained that a strong healing spell could cure the infection before the person became a monster , but to cure a monster that transformed from the infection was only in the legends. "It was said only a supreme healing spell could turn a monster back to normal , of course it won't revive the already dead ones."

'Interesting.. It's like one of those ghoul infested planet i've been to.' The wristwatch flashed as it revealed a small paragraph of information. "Materials unknown , age , ancient." Surprised by the age of the metal , Nodus decided to go deeper into the ravine to see that door that the griffin mentioned. 'Something that is older than 100 000 years old huh..' Ignoring the griffin warnings , the young man arrived at the core of the chain and looking past that , he saw a broken down pillars that curved toward each other. "That must be the gate it was talking about.. Scan 1 KM and long distance analyze." Past the gates , the tunnel was a dead end but the good news was the walls and ceiling were filled with energy nodes.

After a long ten minute of scanning. "Materials Unknown , Based on structure and energy wave , it resembles highly to a ancient teleportal." Past the two pillars , a round platform could be seen with a flat top. At the center of the platform , there was a dozen of foreign scribbles that went curved all around the round platform. Suddenly at the center of the platform lit up with a bright blue color. "We.. Found....You.." Nodus heard a weird voice that was blurred with noises. The light quickly faded away and the black chain behind Nodus began to glow in red. Seeing that the two pillar crumbled away completely and hearing the howl of the griffin , Nodus quickly ran back toward the entrance in the ravine.

The griffin broke free from the chains that left behind a burnt mark around the back leg. "Finally free..." The griffin noticed the tiny human who came out from the tunnel. "You have saved and freed me , I am in your debt , thank you , once again.." The griffin scuffle through it's feathery fur on his neck and pulled a big golden feather. "In return for this feather , I will do one thing you ask." Nodus walked toward the feather slowly falling down. With a press of a button on his neck , his helmet disappeared and everything turned dark. Catching the feather that was bigger than his arm , Nodus felt a sense of warmth and nodded toward the griffin. "My name is Taphar , I have to urgently make my way to my tribe , forgive me for not keeping you company and put a drop of your blood on my feather!"

Taphar climbed up the ravine and spread it's long wings as it flew away in the clear skies. "I shall remember your face and scent forever!" Seeing that the 50 meters tall beast could easily fly , Nodus understood that it has something to do with the wind element , just like that small tornado from before. "Magic is very unscientific..." The young man poked his cheek and rubbed his blood on the giant feather. The feather glowed even brighter , illuminating the walls on the ravine as it transformed into a streak of light and went inside his chest. With a surprised expression , Nodus quickly focused on his dantian and noticed a giant group of stars above his galaxy. The stars shined brightly as tiny lines stretched out and connected to each other. 'A drawing...?' The stars made a rough outline of the griffin in the darkness of his dantian space.

Nodus spectral image felt a sense of attraction as the light from the stars flew into him , engraving him a new set of information in his head. "Blessing of the Griffin , the Lofty Sky Steps." Going through his new memory , Nodus opened his eyes and smiled. With a jump , Nodus seemingly landed on a invisible platform as he stood in midair without falling down. "A blessing gave me a new innate skill.. Why would I ever return it." The new magic he acquired resembles to the anti air boots he made for Sasha , the only differences would be energy consumption."It require a grain of sand amount of mana to use this skill for a day.. That practically mean I can stand in the air forever." 

Recovering more mana that he can consume , Nodus was happy for the second times after landing in this planet. His smile faded away as he sat cross legged in mid air. "This sound!" Nodus went back into his dantian and noticed a gigantic gate that was ten times bigger than his galaxy. Upon seeing the gate , he was puzzled but still took action as he flew straight and punched the gate. Boom! Boom! The gate slowly opened inward as the tiny Nodus punched his way in. "AHHH!" His energy spread out as he exerted all of his qi and ki into his fist. BOOOOM! Half of the gate broke away from the gateway as it disappeared inward. Drying out all of his qi , Nodus felt physically tired as he floated infront of the gate.

"Finally.." A wave of energy flew out from the game. As the energy crashed on Nodus , he spread his arms and let the incoming wave of dust go inside of him from every inch of his pores. After hours of absorbing , the gate shattered into a cloud of sand and flew to the center of his galaxy and more stars appeared as the galaxy became denser with the center star being even bigger. The newest stars were black with one faintly glowing stronger and stronger as time goes by. "I see.. That griffon stars gave me a small amount of pure mana and illuminated the remaining stars from my 8th gate , resulting me on breaking through the 9th gate.."

Nodus returned to his usual self and dug all the energy ores he could find. While leaving the living ones alone , Nodus had a small pile of mountain in front of him that consisted of many different ores. "Fuel for my store while the rest will be for materials purposes.." Knowing that he could turn them into printing materials , Nodus stored the ores into his big blue storage and went back to the end of the tunnel. After searching around once more without any result , Nodus destroyed the platform and found many metal wires underneath it. "As I thought.. a message from the past." Pulling them apart into scraps , the young man filled half of the space of his storage box and left the ravine.

As Nodus flew above the forest , Z1 alerted him that Bu One finished his task and waited for him in the newly built shop. "Change of plan , tell Bu One to build a factory cube inside the basement." At first Nodus was planning on keeping his android within the shop and during the night it would be in the basement , crafting the tools by hands with the materials he would purchases from a black smith. With sufficient energy now , he could transfer a plentiful amount of pure energy to Bu One for a factory cube that was a miniature version from the White Jade. The Factory cube would then operate by the solar generator he had the android build and kept on the ceiling. " Calculate cost of energy , including the factory cube." "Current Energy level, 6.2% , Total required , 10%" Nodus ordered Z1 to transfer 10% to the android from White Jade as soon they get into range.

"Ahhh!" Hearing a scream from the ground , Nodus toggled his helmet back on and scanned the forest with his visor. Seeing an group of outlines that was on the edge of the road , he saw a group of human fighting each other while 4 of them were sitting inside of something. "Bandits..?" He changed his course and flew toward the people who were fighting along the road.

After an intense galactic battle, Nodus, the strongest mystic esper found himself in an unfamiliar world filled with many unknown species. 
Thank god there are humans here... candles, stone houses...? Their technology seems to be... nonexistent...but flying on a sword and magical relics is normal? What kind of ancient world is this?

7 Chapter a week 
Release time 7AM MDT

Looking at the options, Ling Pingan first tried to tap on the option 'other energy sources'.
Thus, he received a description: You can give instructions to your clan tribe, asking them to find all kinds of high-quality energy supplies for you.

Similarly, if the clan tribe reached 1,000,000 clan tribe points, he would have to spend 1,000,000 nightmare points, and 1,000,000 clan tribe points to bless them.

"Then go ask little bean sprout!" Gangba said, "I want to know immediately where the Dimension Stones are the most!"
"Gangba wants to snatch them all and offer them to the Great Brother What and Brother Hell!"
"WAAAGH!" the Green Skin Warlord roared.
Thus, the Gangba tribe, which had unified the entire Shadow Mountain and had begun to expand its influence, sent out a diplomatic mission.
What they brought to the nearby Dwarves and Human Lords was not a declaration of war.
Instead, it was a letter of inquiry.
Where were the Dimension Stones?

Integration: Insert a specific gene of a creature into the genetic material of the target creature, so that it can obtain the gene.
Breeding: After research, you have successfully created a new creature, you can put in nightmare points or clan tribe points to breed the prototype species of the creature for further testing.
The Light Hand then moved.
Touching a building next to it: Biochemical Analyzer, a pop-up window appeared: This is the facility for genetic and molecular analysis and research.
Passing by that, the Light Hand touches a tower-like building: Basic Organ Cultivation Component. This is the facility for further strengthening or research of the organs of the species you have created through which you can observe and study the organs of any living creature in vivo.

Finally, the Light Hand tapped on the largest 'creation factory' in this base of creation.
A pop-up window appeared: This is Miss Sasha's masterpiece!
A line production and a factory that nurtured life in batches!
As long as you have enough clan tribe points or nightmare points.
Then, no life could not be mass-produced and manufactured.
Then, the Light Hand moved and returned to the 'Basic Biological Cultivation Component'.
Words appeared on the screen: Dear Player, please watch the demonstration of the creation tutorial.
A one-eyed, green-skinned creature appeared in the Light Hand.
It placed the creature into the 'Basic Biological Cultivation Component'.
The circular facility immediately lit up and slowly became transparent. The facilities and instruments inside appeared one by one, filled with sci-fi aurora.
Following that, the one-eyed creature on the screen was dissected and divided into countless tissue specimens in the Basic Biological Cultivation Component.
A portion was sent to the biochemical analyzer, while the other portion of the organs was sent to the basic organ cultivation component.
The remaining portions were soaked in jars of various sizes.
The Light Hand first chose to invest 5,000 nightmare points to reorganize its tissues.
Then, it went to the biochemical analyzer and spent 1,000 nightmare points to get its suggestion: Strengthen the strength of the one-eyed monster!
After he clicked OK, he returned to the 'Basic Organ Cultivation Component'.
He spent 10,000 points to choose to strengthen the vitality and energy supply of each organ.

What’s more, in the eyes of these customers, he was actually a horrifying ruler of Diablos, an indefinable entity that held the reins of all realms.
 
In this regard, Ling PingAn said, “I’m not, I didn’t, don’t talk nonsense.
 

There were no twists or turns. 

The sides were smooth to ensure no material got stuck, however, the metallic surface, even if coated with years of dusty offered little resistance to John's rapid descent. He felt the rushing air, full of dust, hitting his closed eyelids. His dry lips were shut the whole way, for fear that a mouthful of the stuff might enter his lungs. 

After a very brief descent, the chute leveled off like the side of a bell curve. John went straight into the side of a mound of light particles, probably ashes or flaky fuel. He climbed to his feet and dusted himself off. 

The chute might be unpleasant, but it was a fantastic shortcut.

The magic stone quickly unveiled the brown color of the surroundings. The room was a combustion chamber of sorts, shaped like the inside of a vase, with walls made of firebrick. There must have a huge blaze here before. John slid down the pile of spent fuel and out one of the air intakes that lined the side walls.

There was a large circular area that surrounded the furnace. Huge billows and pedestals for wind elementalists covered the air intakes. These laborers that manned the area were still in the room, scattered from their positions after what seemed to be a frantic but impossible escape. 

The room was far enough underground to remain at a normal temperature year-round, and the furnace was long dead, but there was an uncomfortable warmth.

The heat of the fire must have been unimaginable at peak operation.

John slipped out of the room hastily. 

His destination was one of the manager's office. When the medium guild had swept through, that's where they had found the B-Grade treasure chest, the first the entire Gyead region. 

Treasure chest tiers were weird. B-grade didn't necessarily mean that B-grade items were inside, or that a B-grade boss was guarding it. The items inside weren't game-changing. The biggest treasure for the medium guild had been the area itself. But B-grade was outstanding for an individual at this point.

In the previous timeline, they encountered Manager Bressh, a B-grade field undead boss. In RISE, after common and elite monster, there were bosses, ranked by the standard alphabetic tiers. 

B-Grade field bosses usually required large teams of players to raid successfully, assuming their levels were similar to the boss and their tactics were effective. Additionally, most bosses had skills, weak points, and strengths that needed to be discovered to facilitate the raid. 

Manager Bressh was a large warrior type skeleton which wielded a battle ax. He had an absurd defense to physical damage types other than collision. However, his damage was very low for a monster of his tier and his combat skills were very weak. His key characteristic was his ability to summon waves of skeleton workers to assault invaders. Moreover, provoking him meant provoking every monster in the ruins. This didn't matter for the past-life expedition which had cleared the ruins, dealing with the boss last, but would be horrifying for a sneaky thief. 

In short, it was impossible for John to do anything to Bressh whose battle regeneration would easily out heal anything a level four could do. Moreover, level suppression was a very real thing in RISE. 

But John had a plan.

Bressh's office was big for an office. Still, no matter how big an office was, an enclosed space was unsuitable for a fight involving many players. That was another challenge of the raid: Bressh could only be attacked by a relatively small number of players. It was crucial to pull him out into an open area like the factory or into the giant furnace. 

That was how players defeat him in the past: by pulling him into the furnace and roasted him. The B-grade undead boss, weak to ocular, fire, and holy magic was killed by sub-level 50 players under the flames' suppression.

However, when the raid team baited out the boss, none of them had the idea to search the office. They would have found the B-Grade treasure chest far easier otherwise. 

John theorized that he might be able to sneak past Manager Bressh, considering that he hadn't woken a single soul. The previous players had killed every monster in the ruins before finding the boss awake and guarding his wares. Perhaps, like the other skeletons, he would still be sedated at this moment. It was a bit optimistic, but then again, no game would expect a player to be exploring the ruins so early and know the way well enough to arrive quietly. 

Besides, what did he have to lose? Maybe some experience, but Assimilation barriers weren't revoked. He might drop items too, but it would be most likely a cheap equipped item. It was well worth the risk.

The office was in a hallway near the furnace room. John avoided the skeletons that lay on the floors fairly easily. The intact wooden door, distinguished by a large number and nameplate, was ajar.

John poked his head through the open office door.

Manager Bressh's office had a sort of waiting room before the office itself. This room had basic chairs, a low-table, very typical. The curious rays of the magic stone looked around, and confirming it was safe, John entered. He stowed the light source and took a deep breath.

The next door was the crucial one, shut firmly. 

It made an awfully loud sound as John pushed it open. He winced with every creak. He opened it a quarter of the way and held it there. 

Nothing.

John relaxed a bit and gradually reequipped the light stone, suppressing the full light, and peered around the door.

Bressh's room was completely empty. Well, the furniture was exactly where it was supposed to be. Bressh's desk was the same and there was the chair reminiscent of any executive's office. It just that it didn't have the occupant.

'Huh?' 

John entered the office, closing the door behind him. He deactivated his stealth skills and uncovered the magic stone.

The shadows were not playing tricks, the boss really wasn't there.

John activated Thief's Wit. There were no traps, not even a single suspicious thing rather than the lack thereof. 

John checked for the treasure chest, allegedly hidden inside the drawers of the desk. At least that was still there. B-Grade treasure chests were different from the plain wooden crates of A-Grade. It was a proper metal box coated with anti-picking magic formations and massive lock.

John considered his options for a moment, then went to pick up the chest. Treasure chests were items in RISE and as such, could be stored in the inventory and transported around. However, their weight values were usually absurd and required a long time to store. Moreover, chests were guaranteed to drop upon death.

A little progress bar appeared as John began stowing the treasure.

Manager Bressh was a diligent supervisor in life and even more so in death. Rather than the expected slumber, he was patrolling the halls, ensuring the dead workers did their jobs they hadn't done for countless years. As a higher-tiered undead, he was somewhat bound by the quirks of his life and he liked to make morning rounds of the factory – it was coincidentally around 8 AM.

Another weird trait of Bressh's was the addition of a supernatural instinct. The instant John laid his hands on the treasure chest, Bressh felt an electrical signal run down a dead spine. Actually, some other bosses could remotely detect robbers, but this ability was inconsistent amongst B-Grade and was previously undocumented for the skeleton warrior. His oversized ax dragged along the stone ground until sparks flew up. The large skeleton warrior let out a howl and rushed towards his office.

Meanwhile, John was stealthily exiting the office as the skeletons in the hall started to stir. One might assume that it was because the boss' chest awoke them, but John knew otherwise. Their behavior was telltale of command by a superior monster, something far more fearful.

John immediately dropped his stealth skills that limited his speed. As soon as the skeletons were awake, the quiet approach was a dead one. Even with the poor detection skills of skeletons, the level difference would catch him within a second at this range.

'The boss is home.'

As the lethargic collection of workers woke from their daze, John ran as fast as he could. He adopted the workers' hunched posture as the huge weight of the chest dragged him down. The first skeletons were on their feet now, chasing John at their best speed. They were, fortunately, common undead, and very slow. 

It was a snail race. But as more and more undead arose, it became a race of one against many.

John didn't have far to go though. His haven was right ahead - the washroom. That was his plan. There were many entrances and exits from the lower ruins, and this was one of them.

The skeletons definitely seemed to get faster as the chase continued. More came from other hallways and rooms, flooding in from all directions. Clearly, no worker, dead or alive, wanted to get on Bressh's bad side. 

John made it into the washroom by some means. He equipped his starter dagger and jammed it into the handle of the wooden door behind him. 

The room was a normal but ancient bathroom. There was a line wooden toilet seats, the kind that didn't flip up, with a hole shaped like a perfect circle, and a disposal system that was essentially a giant tank underneath.

John hacked at an intact wooden toilet seat with his dagger, trying to expand the hole large enough to fit a human. The sound of break wood was incredibly loud, not only with the scraping of John's weapon but also the hundreds of bony fingers scratching against the bathroom door.

Players had already destroyed the seats when he had visited last life - John had no idea how hard it would be to cut through hardwood several centimeters thick with a dagger. He swore as he switched to the pistol and activated Rapid-Fire, spraying the huge rounds.

Explosive bangs resonated through the room, the last of which being the skeletons knocking the door down. The door had held on for a very long time. Undead were unusually dimwitted for RISE AI and the skeleton workers normally used scratch or grab attacks that were ineffective on hard materials. 

John split open the weakened toilet seat with his dagger and leaped feet-first into the tank below. The fit was tight and the splinters dug into his coat, but he couldn't care less.

John fell like a rock and nearly broke his ankles on the landing. He had rolled to lessen the fall, but still injured himself. 

John urgently raised the magic stone upwards, revealing the skeletons crowding around the small hole and jamming themselves. He was safe.

'Phew.'

It occurred to him that he might have dealt with too much sewage today. At least, the tank was fairly dry after a long time of disuse. He caught his breath and ate a biscuit while waiting out the numbness in his joints.

Players would eventually be able to purchase return scrolls to go back to the fountain instantly but that cost too money for a relatively short distance. The pipes were a great shortcut for players trying to exit from the bottom floors of the ruins and return to Gyead, just like the chute was a great shortcut for the opposite. Normal players would be able to kill Bressh on respawn or farm certain areas where skeletons could respawn, and return to Gyead without any distractions.

John had farmed skeletons in one of the warehouses and would come through here at daybreak to return to the main ladder. He would then sell items and repair gear at Gyead.

But rather than returning to the main ladder, John followed the pipes all the way to the other side of the complex. It was likely that most of the skeletons assembled near Bressh's office and the washrooms when he had been discovered. He would take an alternative exit.

It took a little while to find the right pipes that led to the other side. The areas closer to Bressh's office were better for leveling and John had only briefly leveled here, never taking the pipes between the two areas either. 

The thief poked his head through the toilet seat, looking like a monster. It was washroom identical to the one before.

I was suffocating her, but I didn't give a damn. It was 3:00 in the morning, and a devious thought came into my mind: "I'll drag her to the place where I lost everything." 
I tossed her into the factory, and she started bellowing and crying.
