In the game of softball, there are three bases, three fielders, one short staff, the pitcher and the catcher. Melaine Elizabeth is the catcher in the lychnis group, bihasa at magaling siya sa larong ito. She can catch all the strikes and foul balls, walang mintis niyang nasasalo ito. She's one of the strongest batters in their team. But one thing for sure, She can catch balls but never the heart of Leviticus Romero.

Huh, Where am I?

The last thing I could remember was me eating noodles while reading novels on my phone.

Wait, I remember.

My phone heated up and probably blew up!

So now I'm dead, I guess?

Is this heaven then?

It couldn't possibly hell.

No matter where I looked all I could see was a vast grass plain.

There was a herd of cows munching on the grass.

Butterflies of different colors fluttering around.

This scene was impossible to see on Earth.

Blue skies, clear clouds, not-so-hot-sun, and there were no sign of manmade things.

*vibration.....

Something inside my pocket vibrated and tickled my thigh.

Taking it out, I realized that it was my phone.

'Monster Catcher successfully downloaded!'

I don't remember downloading this?

Unlocking my phone, I then opened this so-called "Monster Catcher" app.

It loaded for a second then showed up a familiar interface.

Isn't this like a rip-off version of Pokemon Go?

I clicked an icon for a map.

I could see a birds-eye view of myself.

Looking back I could see no cameras or drones that could possibly film me live!

I tried waving my hands to see if it would also move.

No way!

It moved!

This is amazing. It's just like a live feed but where's the camera or something.

There's also a marker thing which shows the location of a monster.

Upon clicking it you would be able to see the information of that monster.

Just like this.

I ran with excitement as I headed to the location of the marker.
 
And when I got there I couldn't believe what I saw.

The Bulbasaur I was expecting didn't only exist in the game but also in real life!

It was a real-life Bulbasaur!

Although it wasn't cute it still looked awesome!

It looked like a triceratops with a big flower bulb on its back.

There were also other Balbasaur looking triceratops but the flower bulbs now bloomed into pink flower buds.

They should be Ivysaurs!

Which was the next evolved form of Bulbasaur!

For a pokemon fan and a dino-fanatic. This place was heaven!

Although it is a shame that there were no Venusaurs.

I would love to see one in the future.

I hope this dream never ends.

So for now, hehehe Let's Go Catch some Pokemon!.

Luckily, Monster Catcher provided an infinite amount of pokeballs!

So I decided to catch a Bulbasaur for myself.

In Pokemon Go, you'll just have to swipe the Pokeball to use it.

But in Monster Catcher a real Pokeball would magically appear in your and it was up to you to throw it. 

At first, I thought that if I touched the button on the Pokeball I would be sucked into it but after touching it once accidentally nothing actually happened.

It seems to only work on pokemon.

My first try to throw a Pokeball was a failure.

Although it hit the Bulbasaur it broke free after a few shakes.

And right after it broke free it tried whipping me to death with its vines.

Even now the parts that got whip still hurts.

Luckily, it wasn't that strong so I wasn't hurt that bad.

At my second try, I picked a smaller Bulbasaur to catch.

But even so, it still manages to broke free.

And at that time I was already running for my life.
 
Sigh, it seems that catching a pokemon is harder than I thought.

I know now why there were starting pokemon at the start of every game. 

Catching a pokemon with full hp requires great luck!

A mysterious app was downloaded on my phone after I found myself in a new world.

A world where pokemon exists and I happen to have a rip-off version of Pokemon Go, called Monster Catcher.

Kojima enrolled in Seidou high school by baseball scholarship. He lives in dormitory, his roommates are 2nd and 3rd year senpai's. He went in 1-C where there was already a bunch of students in there.
Kojima: Hmm, Isn't that Sawamura. yep he was in 1-C in anime, he was really sleeping. well he didn't spoke with him as they will meet in training field.
At the field,
all did happen like while introductions Sawamura tried to sneak and scolded by coach. After his declaration of him becoming ace. Kojima and 1st years were following basic regimen. Coach made pitcher throw in the bullpen to examine their skill. Kojima also throw some pitches in bullpen. He checked others status and was amazed.

Kawakami: Slider: A
Kuramochi: Sprint: A+
and biggest of them was 
Captain Yuuki: S-
and there were many more.

After one month,
Coach: There will be a game between 10th graders with 2nd string to guage your abilities tomorrow , all players will be given a chance to move to 2nd string and 1st string. Do you understand?
" Yes sir" everyone shouted.
Next day,
<Players shouting>
Player 1: Ooh, there is huge crowd, around the fence on Sunday.
Player 2: There are reporters too
Player 3: Man, I'm getting nervous.

Crowd 1: Hmm.. being able to observe the 1st years students strength this early, that's pretty rare of Seidou.
Crowd 2: Well the pitcher problem must be really bad.

Coach: you guys all set?
" Yes, sir"
Coach: I'm going to give every single one of you 1st years a chance to play. So I want all of you to be ready.
"yes sir"
Like in anime Tanba starts throwing ball at literally their faces and then bend it downwards. 
Batters were scared and struck out. 
Crowd begin to throw some nice comments.
Then 2nd years started to bat and they scored 21 runs one after another in 2 innings and then came Furuya. He pitched the ball and it was so fast that catcher failed to catch and ball went upward toward coach's face and BOOM umpire's mask fell down and coach straight passed Furuya to 1st string. Then coach changed pitcher with Kojima.
Kojima came up to mound and picked ball.
Crowd 1: Whoa, that Furuya was monster, look a new pitcher came.
Crowd 2: He is so tall at least 6 ft, look at his physique.
Crowd 3: Is he really 1st year, he looks like an adult.
Crowd 4: Looks like, we have many good players this year.

Catcher: What are the signs?
Kojima: [If I throw with full strength coach will switch me, so let's go with 80% strength]

"I told you senior even Kaye is also destructed by the young Master King's presence." The team leader said to Charles. They are at the bench together with other players. They all look very anxious. 

STRIKE ONE!!! 

Charles clenched his hand. Her niece didn't take the game seriously. Her eyes and mind are not in the game but on the audience. She's still looking if her mother has come. 

"STRIKE TWO!!!" 

"Shit!!!!" Charles cursed inside. "C'mon Queen.. Don't do this!!" He scream on his head. He can see that she and the catcher are talking over something. "Don't tell me he got you too? C'mon he's just the same boy you used to stepped on his feet or push him on the river whenever you're mad because of his teasing. He was also the same boy who you used to share your favorite Lego more than to your best friend Jayson. And He's the same boy you hate most after digging your treasure capsule and left without a word." Charles is still talking to himself when he heard a loud cheer from the noisy crowd. Then the audience becomes dead silence. 

He avert his eyes toward the way where it's come from. There.. He saw his brother in law with Queen's mother. His mood lift up. The next thing he heard was the sound of hitting something followed by.. 

"HOMERUN!!"

At the VIP area. 

As the crowd boom with too much loud noise when the little one unbelievably make a home run. The group of people in the VIP rejoice too. 

"Yes!!! Home run!!!" Patrick exclaimed. He even rise on his seat in excitement.

"She hit it!!!!" Kelvin jump on his seat in joy. The girl they're eyeing not just hit the ball but also made a home run. "I knew it!!! See that Dad!! I told you!!!" He happily said to his father. "See that mom? I told you that's her!!"

"We clearly saw it son." His mother smile at him. "I can also see clearly that you fancy the little miss even though you just met her.. So unlike you my son." His mother gave him a teasing smile. 

Kelvin blush on this. He forgot his etiquette there. Good thing his grandparents are not here. He quickly back in his seat. Even Patrick do the same when he heard this. 

They avert their attention again in the field. They saw Kaye making her run. When she stepped on the final base. Instead of going to where her teammates are, she immediately run towards the exit. Kelvin try to bend his body to see where did she go. After some minutes. Kelvin see Kaye's friend stand up in their sits and said. 

"Kaye Here!!!" They said in unison beckoning on someone. 

Kelvin saw how Kaye pounce on the man who cheer for her. 

"Dad!!!! You're here!!!!" 

She pounced on him like a five year old kid who just saw her dad after so many years. Kelvin saw how family oriented the girl is. She's really close to her parents as they sandwich her with their hug. A beautiful smile on her face mesmerized him. 

She talks to her parents for a while. When the time she needs to go back to the game. He heard her say. 

"I need to go back now Dad. Stay here and watch me OK? Watch us as we will bring the championship trophy and make our team the overall champion." She said with confidence and full of pride. 

She hugged her friends first who are so proud of her. Even the parents of her friends congratulate her. Then she said hi to the group of guy that she called seniors, they all messed up her hair while saying "Good job shorty!!" 

Kelvin don't know but he also feels so proud of her like he already knew her for so long. He was about to stand up to follow her but when he saw his father rise on his chair he stop. He just watch him leave his own group and approach the people sitting in front, two rows of chairs away to where his family is. 

"Mr. Queen?" His father said calling for someone he knew. 

Patrick and Kelvin look at each other when they saw Kaye's father rise on his seats. 

"Mr. King!.. I never expected to see you here!" 

"Same here." The two shake their hands. "You're here for your child?" 

"Yes… I'm here for my daughter." Kaye's father said proudly. "She amazing isn't she?" 

Kelvin just watch the two as they talk like they know each other for so long. The next innings begins and the two fathers ended up sitting side by side as they continued talking about business. In the middle of the innings the catcher on Kaye's team got injured and need a substitute. Kaye's team gathered around. After a few minutes Kelvin saw Kaye running towards the exit to where the catcher is. Then they heard an announcement of thirty minutes break for the game. 

Kelvin excuse himself to their group saying he just need to go to the bathroom. Patrick tug along with him. They hurriedly make their way to the exit. He wants to see if his brother is fine. Although his eyes and thoughts are busy admiring Kaye. Some part of his mind is still worrying about his brother. 

Kelvin and Patrick didn't expect on what they saw when they turn on the corner of the hallway. The guy who's wearing a safety gear for catcher stepped on his brother's foot not just once but twice, then run away so fast. This is the first time that someone so bold and fearless dare to assault his brother. The first young master of KINGs.

"I'll do it." Queen raised her hand. In the middle of sixth innings the catcher got injured and need to replace. No one wants to volunteer as they all know how hard is the job of a catcher is. "I'll take the job of the catcher." 

"Are you sure about this Queen?" Her Uncle asked. 

Queen just nod. She's not really a catcher and this is the first time she will do this. When her Uncle is still in high school and still a varsity player of baseball he and his best friend Ian (who is now their coach) always practiced batting and pitching with each other. Being so enthusiastic on that sports Ian teach him some basic knowledge in catching so she can join them in their practice. Ian is a monster when it comes to throwing a ball. That's the reason why all of her teammates are good at hitting too. They don't have any choice but to hit every pitch he throws or else there's a punishment. 

Now in an emergency like this. Queen think her knowledge is enough to cover up the lost of their team. When her Uncle agree, she quickly run towards the locker where their team catcher is been treated. There's a lot of adjustments needs to do on the safety gears because of her short height. When she saw every now is secure she made her way again on the field. She made her final stop and double checked the safety gears she's wearing. She's about to wear a safety helmet when he heard someone say. 

"Are you trying to kill yourself? You're a girl in case you forgot." 

Queen frown. This is the same voice that she heard exclaiming that she's a girl. She looked at her back. She saw a handsome young man approaching on her way. He's too handsome as a matter of fact. Too handsome that she finds it annoying.

"It's you again!!! You're such an importunate don't you know that??!!" 


"I told you, I want to pay you!!" He come closer to her.

Queen rolled her eyes. Not again!! 


"I offered you my money, You declined!!." He move one step closer. She also moved one step backwards. 


"Weh???...." The people inside of that room exclaimed. 


"I offered you a hand for your company, You turn it down." another step closer for him. Another step backwards for her. 


"Owwww…"


"I offered you my name and marry me, You refused!!." another step. Every time he steps forward she moves backwards. 


"Whaaaaat?????!!!" Again they exclaimed in unison. 


"Don't you know you're crushing my Ego down to the core so hard?" Again he move one step closer. "Now, I have something to offer you that I'm sure you will accept this time." This time Queen doesn't have a chance to move backwards to keep her distance. She hit the medicine table and no there's no way to escape. She subconsciously took the water bottle and drink on it. 


"What is it?" She said trying not to show her uneasiness. She drink the water again. 


A sinister smile appears on his handsome face. He lifts her chin using his index finger look in her eyes and said. "My body." 

"EEHHHHH????... 

Upon hearing this. Queen spat out the water on his mouth in no time. The water landed directly into the man's face. GOD GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

The next day, Rei already reached the school before the meeting time. He was too excited the whole day. By the time he woke, it was already noon. He spent the rest of the day lazing around, thinking about the camp and the team selection today. Shirogana didn't consult him about the matter again. He knew Rei would make a breakthrough in his catching from now on.
Rei was near the school gates. He checked the time and noticed it was still 3 and the coach asked them to come at 4. He was an hour early. Even if he was early, Rei didn't mind it and made his way towards the field. Seeing the same field he couldn't practice on for the past 4 to 5 days, he felt more accomplished in finding the answer for the problem. 
He made his way towards the coach's office. He knew the coach would be here, and how did he know? The coach would always be 2 hours before them in the ground to plan out their practice for that day. He observed this one after several weekend practices. So he knew the coach would be there that time too. If he wasn't there, then he would wait a whole week for the answer, he could wait an hour to talk to the coach. 
Standing before the coach's door, Rei took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He then heard the coach's voice from the other side, "Come in." And slowly opened the door. Similar to last time, the coach was sitting behind his desk looking at some papers while his assistant Kinda was sitting in front of him looking at some more papers. 
Noticing Rei standing near the door, Iwata called him in. He expected Rei to come to him quicker than others. He had a call from Shirogana that morning and he was told that Rei got an insight during the match and will probably come to him. Rei nodded and slowly walked towards the seat beside Konda. He sat and looked at Iwata in the eye. 
"So, Rei. Did you find an answer?" keeping both his hands on the desk before him. He wanted to hear it from him.
Rei nodded and said, "Yes, Coach Iwata. I think I know the answer that you were expecting me to find." With a confident smile on her face. He was sure that he was on point.
Rei's words amused Iwata. He gestured to him to continue, and Rei did. He said, "I was confused at first Coach. I tried to understand what you meant by getting to know what unpredictability truly means. I spent 3 days trying to understand it."
"Then we went to a game, the one which happened yesterday. I observed all the plays in the game and tried to analyze it. I could understand why a certain layer is moving or pitching like he was up until the 4th inning. From the 4th inning both the teams were at the beginning of their respective line ups."
"This was when it all changed. The catchers were calling the pitches completely different. I could not identify or guess a single pitch based on what I saw at their first-at bats. It was all jumbled up, and the catcher was calling pitches easier compared to the first time he did for a batter."
��When the batter comes in for a 3rd time, compared to the first 2 time it would be completely different. They always changed things up. The other things I could observe from that inning was that his pitch calling surprised even his own teammates." 
Hearing Rei surprised Iwata. He never thought Rei could observe a play to such a high degree. He felt he understood Rei even better. But what he didn't know was the capability of his eyes and his switch batting. He would be shocked and will go on to say Rei is a batting prodigy. 
"Ok, what more did you notice in the game?" asked Iwata, this time with a smile. 
Rei's face beamed as he heard this. He continued on with explaining the whole game. Hearing this from the side, Konda exhaled in relief. He was really worried about the possibility of Rei not taking part in the camp. Suzuki was nowhere near Rei's level and cannot catch for Suzaku like him. 
Even without that, the entire team's overall batting might decrease without Rei there. Rei was one of the best when it came to hitting on the team, and Suzuki is nowhere near that level of batting. 
As Rei continued to explain about how he also observed the batting of the players in both side teams, he could find mistakes in his own batting. He also told about the fielding differences he noticed and the smooth transaction between the fielders during double plays and relays. 
Listening to Rei, Iwata was amazed beyond words. He knew Rei was a genius, but Rei was now a monster. He had to assess Rei once again. 
Iwata then asked, "So, now you're confident with the solution for the problem you have?" Making Rei nod. 
He then continued, "Rei, now I will tell you how catchers prepare for a match. This you will learn with experience, which you're severely lacking right now. Most of the catchers your age must have already played a couple of games, competitive games. Not like inter squad ones we have sometimes. Only in competitive matches does one player's mental strength and capacity to carry forward is determined." 
Pausing for a second he continued, " A typical normal catcher learns about the batters of the opponent team before the game. They try to compare various games and stats they find out. They will then form a plan to face these batters based on their pitchers."
"But we only use this planning for the first round of batting. They use it to test if their research about the batter was correct and if not, what are the changes. They analyze them for the next round of at-bats. Only when the people next time come to bat, will they start with an alternative plan. They take decisions on the spot, disregarding the plan they made before completely."
"This is only possible when both the Catcher and Pitcher understand each other. When you catch, your duty is to showcase the ability of the pitcher to the entire world. A mistake on your part can lead to a devastating blow to a pitcher's reputation. Therefore, batteries are formed between people who trust and understand each other. The pitcher should never doubt your decision. Do you understand?" 
Silence took over the room as Rei was collecting all his thoughts on what he heard just now. He slowly understood being unpredictable as a catcher. The process each catcher goes through to catch a single game. He also understood the level of bond the pair need to become successful. He slowly nodded, making Iwata smile. 
Iwata then said, "Now not all Catchers are the same. There are some catchers who do not believe I'm statistics. Your uncle, Shirogana, is this catcher. He doesn't take statistics of a batter, but instead looks for information in the match itself. He constantly changes his pitch calling and his pitcher has absolute confidence in him, making both of them a good pair." But as Iwata said this, he became quiet and closed his eyes. 
He remembered two kids who learned baseball under him. Both of them were a genius in their own rights and were an absolute pair. He opened his eyes and noticed Rei still thinking about what he said. After a while, the clock hit 4 and Iwata stopped Rei from thinking too much.
Getting up from his seat, Iwata said, "Let's go, the players must have already come." And walked towards the door. Rei and Kinda followed him and made their way towards the ground. 
As they reached, Rei saw most of the players already talking with each other. All of them wore casual shirts and jeans while some wore more comfortable shorts. Rei noticed Daichi and Tanaka talking with the other 2nd years and made his way towards them. 
Daich was the first to notice. He waved his hand and said, "Rei, you're here. We thought you were gonna miss the camp." Slinging his arm over Rei when he reached them. 
Rei chuckled and said, "Yah, I could solve my problem and so now I can play again. I was talking to the coach just now. He said I can play again."
Daichi exhaled in relief and Tanaka said, "We were all really tense. We didn't see you yesterday for practice and slowly lost hope. Now that you are here, we have more confidence going into the game." 
Rei nodded, and they continued to talk with them. He got to know both Tanaka and Suzaku did not practice for the entire week and instead practiced their batting and fielding. They stopped when they heard Iwata, "Ok, now that everyone is here, let's talk about the camp."


Please be a bit patient for the first volume i.e 69 chapters which might be a bit stale, the first 69 chapters are used to build the characters around Rei and himself.

Alex was loosening up in the dugout getting ready to finally start pitching as Sawamura came up to him and said.

Sawamura- good luck out there Alex.
Alex- Thank you Sawamura but I think you should warm up as well as there is only 3 innings left. And I think you will be pitching the last 2 or 1 inning. So make it count.
Sawamura- Yes and then I will be the future ace.
Alex- No you wont it will be me you idiot.

After Alex said that he walked out of the dugout and went to the mound ready to start pitching. The catcher came up to Alex and ask him what type of pitches he can throw and Alex said.
Alex- At the moment I can throw Fastball, Curveball, Change-up, Splitter and a Cutter But I will mostly throw Fastball right down the middle.
Catcher- O-Ok. Just do the best you can.

Alex saw that the batter was ready so he got in his pitcher stance and throw his first pitch and throw a fast ball down the middle.

Umpire- Strike one.
< WOOOSH> < BOOOM >
Umpire- Strike two
< WOOOSH> < BOOOM >
Umpire- Strike three. Batter out.
Alex- One out.

The next batter came out and got in the batter box and Alex throw's a fast Curveball that for a quick strike. The second pitch is a Fastball down the middle and the batter swung and missed. For the last pitch Alex smiled and throw it with a lot of spirit. But the ball came to the batter as slow as it can and the batter swung to early and missed it.

Umpire- S-strike three. Batter out.
???- Was that a Change-up.
???- I think it was but did you see the batter he swung so early and missed it completely.
???- Yes. Even I was fouled when I saw the spirit he put in his pitch I though it was going to be a another fastball.

The 3rd year batter just looked at Alex and can see him smiling at him and Alex activated his Aura and the 3rd year started to shake and walked back and past the next batter and said
???- B-be careful. H-he is a monster.
???- Him. He is just a 1st year that has not even played a real game yet.

After the batter said that he went to the batter box a steered at Alex who was looking at him as if he was looking at his pray. The predatory steer Alex gave the batter made him shatter and even the Umpire/coach was a pit fazed looking at Alex. Alex though to try something different and he activated his ability zone. Alex started his pitching motion with black lightning coming out of his eyes and throw's his pitch down the middle and everyone looked on in silence as the batter hit it up high and Alex stood there on the mound not moving as he stretched his hand out and the ball fell in to his glove. Alex just stood there like an unmoving mountain as the presser washes off him and the coach said.

Coach- A-alex you pass. Be at the first-strings team practice starting tomorrow.
Alex closed his eyes and deactivated his zone ability and look at the coach and said.
Alex- Yes sir.
And walked off the mound in the silence of everyone and went to the dugout and went up to Sawamura and said.
Alex- Your turn next Sawamura. Don't let me down.

Alex sat down and watched the rest of the game and Sawamura who was exited to start pitching. At the end of the game the 3rd years won but the biggest spires was the three good  1st year pitchers and one ( well two if we count Alex ) batter. After that the coach gathered all the 1st years and said.

"I'm Sawamura Eijun, from Nagano. I am a pitcher and hope to be the ace of the team in the future."

I could feel the eyes of all the pitchers boring into my skull. The seniors were all amused by the show of my will.

After the introduction was over, the coach gave us a small speach and sent all the first years off to practice field B where we were made to take the physical ability test.

Later, we were made to have a heavy breakfast. I was able to eat it all but it couldn't be said for other first years. They suffered quite a bit and the seniors enjoyed it thoroughly.

We had a short training session after breakfast. As the second and third years were doing their bating, pitching and fielding drills, Kataoka ordered the first years, "After this, we're going to test your ability for your desired position, so put on your spikes and head over to the B ground!"

I was, of course, excited. 

While I was warming up, the coach came to me and said, "Alright, Sawamura. You said you are a pitcher. You may have been one back in your middle school but it's for me to decide what your roll will be on the team."

The coach just nodded and asked me to throw ten fastballs to which I complied. I also took the chance to note the maximum strength I needed to use for Kariba to be able to catch my fastball. 

Kataoka immediately noticed that I was holding back. As I was about to throw another pitch, he swiftly grabbed my arm by the wrist and said while growling, "You are not throwing at your best. Why is that? It shouldn't take this long for you to warm up."

The man was glaring down right into my eyes. It was unnerving to say the least. From my periphery, I could see Kariba tense up when he heard the coach say that I was warming up.

Eventually, I gave in and said, "I am sorry, coach. I can throw a lot faster pitches but I don't know if the catcher will be able to catch them."

I turned to Kariba and even apologized to him for not throwing my best pitches and undermining him. 

I understood what Kataoka wanted to say as I saw him nod.

"I want you to throw your best fastball. Do not hold back."

I nodded and got back on the mound.

Before I pitched the ball, I said to Kariba, "This one will be faster than the previous ones. Do your best to catch it, alright?"

Kariba was unnerved but nodded none the less. After taking a deep breath, he became focused.

Once again, I pitched the ball. But this time, the ball rocketed straight ahead and smashed into the mitt with a bang loud enough to startle everyone present on the training grounds.

Kariba was unable to hold the momentum and was thrown back. The ball still didn't stop and hit the cage behind, spinning rapidly until it came to a stop after a moment and fell.

The smirk on Kataoka's face was enough to tell how much the pitch had impressed him.

Immediately, he yelled, "Bring a speed gun here!"

I was beginning to sweat. I wanted to impress him but not too much that it would cause a divergence in canon, making my knowledge of the show invalid.

I was made to throw again.

I had never gotten my fastest pitches measured for their speed but when I heard the reading from the gun, even I was shocked.

"159 kmph."

That was two or three kmph lower than the world record back in my last life.

Forget about highschool batters, even professionals in the Major league would have a tough time hitting a pitch of that speed.

"That was a very good pitch." Kataoka said, still smirking.

Then he moved on ahead to others and I could finally breathe. 

'Damn! The man is terrifying.'

For the next three weeks, we did our own practice. I took the opportunity to familiarize myself eith the tyres that were availible and engraved the truck tyres with my name. I ran for hours while pulling them all around the ground.

It was quite a spectacle for everyone else.

Seido won the next game and made it to the top sixteen of the Spring tournament. Their next game was with Ichidai Third High. 

While the batting order of the team was great, but, the pitchers lacked in numbers and the ace, Tanba, was out of form.

Fortunately for the plot, I was not yet added to the first string. 

The game started with Seido rallying through the batting order as they scored whooping eight runs in the first inning. 

It was a scoring game.

Despite the magnificent win against Ichidai, Kataoka wasn't happy because the Ace of the team had underperformed.

Being a pitcher himself, it grated on his nerves for his team to not have a pitcher who complemented Seido's powerful batting order.

He decided to relieve Tanba off his position as Ace.

Tensions were rising among the second and third year hopefuls who wanted to be the pitchers.

With only three months left until the summer tournament, the coach finally decided to hold a match between the first years and all the seniors who were not in the first string.

Later that night when I was having dinner sitting beside Miyuki, Furuya walked towards us and asked, "Hey.. Is it okay if I sit here?"

Then he tried to push me out of my chair. I was a little ticked off over his disregard.

"Hey! Can't you see I'm sitting here? Just go and sit on the other chair, idiot!"

When I didn't budge, he gave up and sat on the empty chair beside Miyuki.

"Miyuki-san, I don't feel like anyone here will be able to hit my pitches tomorrow. If I am right, Will you be my catcher?"

The entire cafeteria got tense.

All the seniors got agitated with the way Furuya disregarded them. When they surrounded him Tanba managed to placate them.

"You can say you want him to catch for you after you've done something... And enough with the bull!! We'll work this out through baseball."

I whispered to Miyuki, "Does this mean I can make you catch my pitches? I struck that Azuma guy out. That must've meant something."

Miyuki clicked his tongue and said, "You need to prove yourself in tomorrow's game."

I huffed in response and resumed my dinner.

The ground was surrounded by reporters, the alumni and other baseball enthusiasts. 

The first years were nervous about facing the upper-classmen just short of a month they joined the team.

Kataoka, dressed as the umpire walked towards us and asked, "You guys all set?"

"Yes, sir!!"

"I'm going to give every single one you first-years a chance to play so I want all of you to be ready to go out at any moment." 

"Yes, sir!!"

The first inning began with us getting our butt handed to us by Tanba and his fast curve balls. No one could even touch the ball with their bat, much less hit it.

When it was our turn to pitch, the upper-classmen humiliated Tojo by scoring twelve runs in the first inning itself. The air was glum in our bullpen. I patted on the boy's shoulder and said, "Don't be so down. You pitched to the best of your ability. But the seniors are playing with a different attitude. This is just a scrimmage for us but for them, it's almost their last chance of joining the first string. So don't try to think you are fighting at their level. Relax.. and trust your teammates."

Tojo gained a little bit of spark in his eyes after he listened to me.

"There's no need to be so glum, guys! That was just one inning! We have eight more turn the tides around!"

Most of them listened to me. Possibly because I was using haki, subconsciously.

In the next inning, Tanba struck the batters out once again. Everyone in the bullpen was getting scared.

Facing the more experienced was scary and I was well aware of it. Keeping the spirits of the team high was key at that time.

Kataoka then decided to change the lineup of the first years after the second inning. I was finally able to step foot on the field. But I wasn't allowed to pitch just yet. 

As the new pitcher, Kaneda, threw the ball, the batter sent it flying directly towards me and I caught it.

After the boy gave up nine runs before Kataoka called for a change of pitchers and Furuya replaced Kaneda. I looked directly towards the coach. He knew I was patiently waiting for my turn but it was staring to grow thin.

So, to calm myself down, I threw the ball in my glove right towards the catcher and like a beam of laser it streaked across the field, slamming into the catcher's mitt.

That was enough to catch the attention of many to myself. Kataoka looked towards me and nodded slightly, indicating that I will have my turn and I was sated.

The upper-classmen were anticipating Furuya to pitch. They were still ticked off by his blatant talk in the cafeteria.

But when the boy threw the ball, it shocked everyone present. The ball zoomed ahead and rose upwards, hitting the coach on his face guard.

The coach smiled and he understood the kind of pitcher Furuya was. He immediately switched him out, saying there was no first-year who could handle Furuya's pitch. Tanba was also asked to switch out and was allowed to return to the first string.

"Sawamura Eijun, you're up!"

Finally! I was allowed to pitch and everyone around could feel my excitement. Even the first string players had come when they heard that I was going to pitch. I had a different presence around me because of my haki.

(Batter's POV)

I was ready to show the coach that I was good enough to be in the first string. I was batting great. But, the moment Sawamura stepped on the mound, I wasn't so sure anymore.

The mere presence of him was unnerving. He seemed so huge and so close to the plate.

I had heard that he could throw pitches faster than that Furuya. The coach himself had the speed measured.

It felt like I was being stared down by a predator, a tiger baring its bloody fangs, ready to pounce at its prey.

Sawamura whipped his arm forward and the ball rocketed towards me. It was unbelievably fast. I wanted to swing my bat, but, it suddenly felt too heavy for me to even hold.

The ball banged into the catcher's mitt. Everyone was shocked silent. 

The next pitch that he threw went upwards. Given its speed, I was certain that it would be a ball. Yet, as it got closer to the plate, the pitch broke from its path, downwards and out. It slammed into the catcher's mitt once again.

His next pitch seemed to gain speed as it came towards me. Faster and faster it flew towards the in-high corner. I knew that I didn't have time to think any longer so I swung hard.

But the pitch almost stopped at the plate, making me miss the ball completely. 

It was surreal. Never had I seen such pitching in my life.

Sawamura... it felt like he could command the pitches at his will.

He was a magician.

Everyone believed Furuya to be the monster rookie of Seido. But having faced Sawamura's pitches.. I knew better.

Sawamura was the true monster.

The next three months were going to be very interesting.

(PLAYBALL!)

Trivia: The second and third pitch Sawamura threw are as follows..

Gyro: It is thrown high into the air. However, it decends very quick and twists to the right/left of the hitter making it a very unprdictable pitch.

R. Fast: It seemingly picks up speed. At the end of the pitch, it seems to just stop moving all of a sudden.

After the monster dungeon, Chrono went to look at the player dungeon.

Opening the options for "Opponent", Chrono browsed through the choices. Elf, Orcs, Rakshasa, Centaur… There were even an option of choosing to fight with a Dragon. As he was unsure what to expect from the personal dungeon as Fei was not around, Chrono decided to select something that he was familiar with. Human. There was a choice of level 1 to 5 while the maximum number of opponent was 9999.

Chrono was only allowed a choice of melee weapons. After he chose his weapon, katana, he arrived in a ring. At the opposite corner of the ring stood a warrior with a short sword and shield in his hands.

"Match commencing in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Begin!" The voice said.

As it was his first time fighting someone with a sword, Chrono decided to fight defensively. Keeping his guard up, he planted his foot firmly and waited. The warrior, keeping his shield up, charged towards Chrono and started to swing his sword. 

<Overdrive>

Feeling a surge in power, Chrono weaved left and right as he avoided the slashes. He used the time period of 9 minute to find out what he was capable of with the usage of <Overdrive>. As the warrior was only level 1, the speed of each slash was dodgeable. Not feeling tired even after 9 minutes of dodging, Chrono finally decided to go on the offence. At the start, Chrono was constantly blocked by shield of the warrior. Starting to feel annoyed, Chrono feinting a punch towards the warrior's head, the warrior lifted the shield which blocked his view. At the same time, the warrior swung his sword horizontally. Evading the swing by squatting down, Chrono then jumped up and headbutted the warrior in his stomach. With his guard wide open, Chrono knowing that the opponent was not real, beheaded him with a single swipe.

I should go take up kendo lesson when orientation is over. The only time i made used of the katana was just the beheading of my opponent...

As the Arena Restaurant was close to the Arena Dungeon, Chrono decided to buy some pastry for Fei so that she can eat them when she was bored. Putting his bill on credit, he bought vanilla icing cupcakes, chocolate cookies and a tiramisu cake from the bakery section in the Arena Restaurant. There were all sort of pastries from gooey slime like pudding to exotic bugs filled with some weird smelling filling. At the same time, he also bought some food that were popular with nagas for the two guard. Being nice to Fei's jailers is definitely a smart move. After delivering the food, he left the Arena.

By the time he returned back to his room, it was already 5 A.M.

The next day.

*SMACK*

Shane smacked his pillow on Chrono's still sleeping face. Chrono was still sleeping. Shane smacked his face with the pillow again. Still sleeping. Shane repeated the process. After about twenty over times. The sleeping hunk finally woke up.

"Stop it. I'm awake."

"Good. You have half an hour. Hurry up." Shane replied triumphantly.

*Yawn*

Not even 3 hours of sleep… 

After washing up, Chrono downed two bottle of energy potion before heading out.


After breakfast, the committee that organised and planned the camp was introduced to all the participants. After an hour, they were dismissed back to their own OG for further bonding through ice breaking games. The OGLs told them they would be playing "Angel and Mortal". "Angel and Mortal" is a game where members of a group are randomly assigned a person, to be their mortal, to whom they anonymously do nice things for. Opening the paper that held his fate and fervently praying that it is one of the prettier looking girls in his OG.

OH YES.

Staring at the paper happily, Chrono folded it carefully and put it into his pocket.
The next game was the M&M game. Each of the participants were given a bite sized pack of M&M and a small slip of paper.

Looking at the list, Chrono realised that this was a game to help the "angel" understand the "mortal" more.

That was what Chrono managed to gather when the game ended. After the M&M game, they played "Shark and Fish". They were brought to an open area and asked to pair up. A shark and Fish was chosen to start the game. The shark is supposed to catch the fish and the fish have to escape from the shark. The rest of the players who are in pairs with their arms hooked are coral reefs. When the fish run to a coral reef and hook his/her arm with one of the 'coral reef', the other 'coral reef' becomes the fish and will have to escape from the shark. With laughter and occasional shrieks, they played "Shark and Fish" till lunch time. After lunch they were given half an hour to digest their food and change into pool games attire.

Wanting to visit Fei with the 30 minute break, Chrono tried to enter The Arena.

Oh right… I entered the Arena just now at 2…

Wearing a singlet and training shorts, Chrono arrived at the pool. After an exhausting time at the Arena, he was hoping that the girls would wear two piece swim suit for the games and give him the energy to play the games. However, every single one of them wore t-shirt and shorts. Feeling disappointed, Chrono drank an energy potion to replenish his energy instead.

"Dodge balloon" was the first game. The width of the pool was divided into two and two OG was on each side and each equipped with a water balloon. As all of the participants are still dry, it was easy to spot those that got hit by water balloons when the game started. When the balloons ran out, those that were hit by water balloons were asked to leave the game area. Round 2 started with new water balloons equipped and the game continued until one team ran out of players. Chrono artistically evaded all the water balloons with moves as though he was dancing and easily won the game for his team. 

With everyone pretty much drenched from "Dodge balloon", they proceeded to play "Fireman's relay". The players formed a line. The first person in line will stand approximately 10 feet from the next person in line who has a water hose. The first person will have to catch the water coming out of the hose 10 feet away with a cup. Once the cup is filled, the player will then dump the contents into a bucket, the players will rotate forward after every try.

After "Fireman's relay" was "Chair and questions".As the name suggested, a chair was placed by the edge of the pool. Players from two team will each sit on a chair facing the pool. They would be asked general questions and whoever fail to give the answer would be pushed into the pool. If both players were not able to give the correct answer after 10 seconds, both would be pushed into the pool. The last team with players still un-pooled wins.

The last game was "Hula race". 10 Hula hoops were suspended above the pool. Each team was divided into mini teams of three. The mini teams needed to help 1 player cross all the hula hoops stretched across the length of the pool. Once a mini team crossed the first hoop, the next mini team can proceed forward. The team with all the mini teams crossing the pool first wins.

Chrono's OG managed to win 3 games and hence got 3 points. The pool game ended after 3 hour. 

After which, they played "Catch me if you can". Each OG was split into two teams. One team was the catcher (needs to remove all the name tags from the back of the other team to win) while the other team has to avoid getting their name tag 'stolen' (while searching for 15 balloons and putting them all into a big bin to win). The catcher team was paired up and the hand of each pair was tied together. Players who were caught were lead into a room and was not heard from after that. On the other hand, with his enhanced speed, agility, stamina and endurance, Chrono who was on the non-catcher team managed to evade all the catchers and help his team win the game. 

After dinner they had OG time and Finale preparation (preparation for the performance on the last day).

As the sky turned dark, the hall started to have less and less people. After getting called out of the hall by his OGL, he was suddenly blindfolded and lead to where everyone was gathered with their partner. Sitting beside Tiffany who was also blindfolded, they started to engage in idle talk. After couple of minutes, they were herded into the back of a van.

On a fateful afternoon, Chrono wakes up to find out that he can add years to his lifespan thanks to a lightning bolt. What should he do with his newfound power? Rob… I mean, legally earn some money? Become a tyrant… run for the Presidential elections and gain power? Create his own harem… warm and happy loving family? How will it change his mundane life, how will it impact the world? Will it be for the best or for the worst? Near the planet’s core, lurking in the shadows, an evil existence is slyly scheming to wipe out the universe of all lifeforms (because yes, there are other living species in the universe, fools!). Follow him on his day to day life as he fulfills his destiny, granting wishes, making dreams come true for his victims… I mean customers; and become the best on Earth (who knows, maybe he’ll also become the saviour of the world at some point).
