Hello to whoever ever read this story, I won't do a self-post 5-stars review on the review comment section. So I'm here to introducte myself to you. If you don't give a cent about my self-introduction, you can skip this part.
First of all, I'm not an English-native, so please excuse me if I ever write very wrong grammar faulty sentences. It happens. In truth, I speak French, English, German, Japanese and Chinese, but speech isn't the same as writing at all, being a polyglot doesn't mean you excel in grammar either.
This is probably the twenty-ish story I've been writing so far and I've intended to finish it one day. I felt this one won't go to the trash bin right away, or be rebuilt to make a RPG tabletop game (which is generally the case as a GM I can build (trashy) worlds as soon as I daydream).


This story may not appeal to everyone, as I put some tags that may or may not disgust people reading it. Does it make the story more appealing to have these R-18 parts? I don't think so, it's up to you readers. Am I twisted in my mind? Am I a pervert? Maybe, maybe not.


Also... an important point. I've never lived in Korea, I don't speak a word of it and I don't know anyone being from there or even remotely. I didn't listen to K-Pop or have seen a K-drama (well my parents did though). I've only read some manhwa and korean novels. But it's not really relevant in that story.
It was a pain in the bottom to search for names and stuff around the net, and I don't know if I made some naming mistakes, or look alike korean, may not be korean in the end. I did found out a boy given name being "Suk" or "Suck" and a surname being "C..k". I do hope korean parents never made this combo... it may gravely hurt that boy's life choices.

As I've mentioned in my self-introduction I don't know anything about Korea, I didn't even bother to search anything about it. The story itself doesn't need much of a background.
Basically, because of interests and warring over territories, a great war happened between the asian countries, and the USA has add themselves into the mix. After it reaches peace, the two Korea have decided to reunite and even retrieve back the small part under China's administration.
They built a new capital city, named Neo-Seoul, under domes. Each dome is one district. The story takes place inside the 37th district, called the "Antenna", due to its gigantic pylon which belongs to a military compound buried underground, and is the district's center. Three domes are intersecting with each other. One is for housing, one for entertainment and one for the 3rd Neo-Seoul University (NSU3), which is known for its the social department.
The dome technology has been created under an Euro-Korean project, which provides a man-made environment. The Antenna is under a 9 months dry summer with short episodes of rain, and 3 months of warm winter with more rain, a special snow event for Christmas. The population is also relatively young due to the university nearby, and the female-male ratio is around 4 to 1.
 
 
The mandatory military service have been changed into a mandatory semester course all freshmen have to take part, be it girls or boys, unless you're in NSU1 which is a military school.
 
It's a capsule VRMMORPG style, on a world with 9 continental masses, 8 on every cardinal points and one in the very center which won't be open until a fairly later point (don't expect anything about it in the first volume). There's nothing much explained yet, since MC is kinda somewhere... well you can see as you read it in the chapters.

Hey, this is not part of EKT, just another afterword on a whim.
Yes, this is it. My long journey started in October 2016, when I resigned and was preparing to go to NZ. I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to practice English speaking, so I chose to indulge in translating the novel I had written a long time ago. That was the start. And I didn't expect at all that the end of it would be this late. It was a long, long journey. Not that I've worked on it fully during those 2 years, but still.
Why the hell have I done this? Well, to be honest I don't know. It might have been just a big waste of time, but at least my intention when I started was to improve my English. If I have to ask whether I've achieved that goal or not, well, just a bit, but still not sure if it was through this novel. Haha, now I'm being too negative, but when I went all the way back up to the beginning of this novel and read it again, I was like 'who the hell wrote this crappy one?' LOL so I guess I've improved indeed. At least in terms of writing.
The most difficult part to translate in this novel was the sword fighting scenes. I struggled for hours to figure out whether to use 'brandish', 'slash', 'wield', 'plunge', 'withdraw' or something like that whenever I had to describe them. Now I really hope that the words I used at least make sense. Other than that, it was also really hard work to keep the nuance of Korean sentences as I translated them. It was not just once when I thought I should have read old books such as Shakespeare, Ann Hathaway or even Bible to be able to copy those subtle differences well enough. There even have been some times when I stopped writing temporarily because I was not confident enough in translating certain things and thought I would be back after getting some insights from other novels. Not that I did it tho. (What on earth did you do?) Ah, Raiden's non-standard way of speaking was another pain in my butt. But no one to blame since I was the one who set that character. LOL
I will not keep this afterword long since I already rambled too much in the previous one, but just wanna say thanks to myself for being so patient enough to bring it all the way to the end. Apart from the days when I had been writing this in Korean, this English version contains so many precious memories as well. MOK café, where I went with my small note and was sitting for nearly 4 hours every day doing this with a cup of coffee, my foreign friends who I bothered a lot with tons of questions, my Lenovo laptop with which I wrote most parts of this novel, the soothing piano from Studio Ghibli that I listened to every time I worked on this, and et cetera. Just want to thank all the things I've been through on my way to put an end to this. I think I will be too busy, but wish I could visit here every now and then and feel the same way towards the whole thing as 'present me' looking at the first part, thinking 'Oh! What a terrible sentence'. At least that will mean my English has gone up to another level by that time. (Laugh)

    Veronica called a taxi but she could not communicate with the driver as she doesn't know korean.
While she was struggling to communicate, she heard a man with bold voice saying "Can I help u??" in English.  After hearing someone speaking in English,she was elated and turned eagerly to see the face...and she was shocked....

 Hey everyone,
This is my new novel called Overgeared. The name is basically a Korean gaming slang term used to put down users who rely on items for strength instead of skill. It's hard to find an English equivalent to this term, especially when used in many different situations and contexts throughout the novel. I have decided to go with Overgeared for the title and for when it is used as a noun, etc. a guild name. However, I will go with 'item effect', the most accurate meaning, for when it is used in a sentence.
This is a vrmmorpg novel and while it has some of the obvious stereotypes and unrealistic parts, it also does some things differently. People might get annoyed with the mc's character at first, but he does get a lot of character development. In fact, some of the fun of reading the novel is seeing the MC's character grow. I think that people who are fans of VR novels like Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Rebirth of the Thief will enjoy this novel.
Furthermore, please keep in mind this novel picks up in readability after chapter 90.

Second thing - What the fuck? 

I mean. I expected some kind of critize in the earlier chapters. But, well, when 8 out of 10 readers could not have the patience to read till the chapter 10, I am seriously thinking... Am I that bad? SHould I drop this now?

Motivation is going down... down... down...

I myself am also a reader for five or six years on many novel sites. I have read many kinds of Japan, Korean, English and even Portuguese novels. Some are translated version, some are originals. Some are fanfictions and some are just utter rubbish.

But, whether I like it or not, I am not the type of reader who gives any kind of feedback. If I like a book, I will continue to read. If I don't I will just quietly jump to another book. 

I don't usually give any kind of praise or crtisims in any of the comment sections of the books. 

So, As the rule - Karma is a bitch- I am expecting zero comments or zero reviews in the worst case... 

But, Now? *sigh* I am seriosuly thinking about whether I should continue writing this story or just drop this and be a reader.
