Before Gu Qingyao could say anything, Zhou Ping shouted, "Come out quickly. What can you all do at such an age? Don't cause trouble."
Actually, eight-year-olds were able to prepare vegetables. The main point was not that the kids were needed to prepare vegetables but to train them to work and initiate help when adults were working.
Furthermore, kids would only gradually learn such things through teaching. It should be known that Mo Chengxu of the Mo family already knew how to prepare vegetables.

These two were tempted by Gu Qingyao's delicious food and gradually developed some habits.
Hence, they went to do their homework obediently.
Gu Qingyao wanted them to learn to write and the two little fellows were very serious about it.
In the kitchen, Mo Beihan pushed Gu Qingyao to the side and said, "You can just be my assistant from the side. I'll cook! It's too hot!"

And it was effective seeing Ruyi's anger rapidly rising. She immediately left him there to his own devices and went to her uncle and the children playing. Don't ask her how the children opened up with no caution to her uncle. He is a very extreme child-lover. 

"Uncle, when did you arrive?" Ruyi asked while sitting next to the children. Jackson was pretty shocked to how accustomed Ruyi was with the kids after only a couple of days of knowing each other. He was shocked but kept a poker face seeing how Renji, the children's guardian had just arrived in the living room.

"Well, I just arrived after finishing business with father." Jackson swore to his heart to keep watever happened there to his grave.

"Oh, okay..." Ruyi didn't probe his uncle. She'll just ask grandfather about it.

Being ignored is one of Renji's pet peeves. Seeing how Ruyi was blatantly ignoring him, Jackson being dragged by the kids to play, he had enough and started talking.

"So Ruyi, when did you meet my children?" Renji was crossing his arms looking at Ruyi.

"Your children didn't tell you? Then it's none of your business." Ruyi focused on looking after the children than looking at the man in front of her.

"Why do they call you mommy?" Renji smirked saying this. At first when the children asked to go to mommy, he was confused to who their mommy is, but when Miya retold the story, he was on the verge of laughing knowing who the woman was and decided to send off the children.

"Why do they call you daddy then?" Ruyi had enough so she went to the kitchen to cook for the children. Jue and Yue had weird quirks where they wouldn't eat anything her maids cook, but is feasting on her mediocre cooking.

Ruyi decided to cook seafood so that the kids will taste new flavors, not always meat and desserts. She went to get a paella pan, and ingredients in the firdge.

"You cook? Won't you kill my kids with your poison cooking?" Renji followed Ruyi only to see her preparing to cook. He remembers the unknown matter she cooked when they were dating.

At the moment Shan Cai finished cooking, and her kids woke up.
"Come and let's eat" she said.
The trio then seat on their chairs and start eating.
"Mom did someone bully you this early in the morning?" Shan Wiejie asked.
"Why did you asked?" she asked back.
"Urgg. What's this mom? It's like a trash?" Alice said
Just then Shan Cai tasted the food and it taste terrible.
'urg. It's that unknown numbers fault.' She said to herself.
Shan Ki is quite on her seat since she might know who destroys her mood.  She remembers that she gives her mom's number to Xu Ling.
"Don't worry kids I will cook noddles for you" Shan Cai said as she stands up and cook another meal.
While Shan Cai is busy in the kitchen Shan Zi woke up and go straight to the kitchen. The kids were silent facing the food and said:
" why aren't you eating? Is the food tasted bad?"
But the three is still quite. Then he tastes the food and he felt he is going to vomit.
" What the h***?"" How come that your cooking this time is like a trash?" he shouted
" mom is maybe in the bad mood today that is why her cooking is so bad" Wiejie said.

Just then the kids stood up and went on their room take their bath and went down stairs.

"I know your Uncle Guangxi. Wouldn't you ask me about him too?" The man repeated as he walked closer to the food table. 
"But we don't know you…" Chen Lihua trailed on in response to the man's claim.
"Let's not talk to him, Lihua. We shouldn't talk to strangers." Chen Lingtian reminded her.
"En."
"HAHAHAHAHA." The man roared in laughter. He found the two kids so amusing. "Bright kids. Who taught you that? Your Uncle Guangxi or your Aunt Sola? That's not entirely false or wrong. Let me see."
He extended his hand for a handshake, first to Chen Lingtian then to Chen Lihua. "I'm your Uncle's friend and workmate. We go to the same office every single day. Yang Haoran is the name."
The two kids shook his hand lightly with lots of reservations.
"Nice to meet you, Sir." The little boy politely greeted. "I'm Chen Lingtian and she's my twin sister, Chen Lihua."
"Pleasure is mine."
"So you work with our uncle. Wow. That's cool, Sir." Chen Lihua grinned from ear-to-ear. "How about our aunt? How did you meet her? How is she?"
"Met her through your uncle. She visited the office one day." He put his hands on his hips, akimbo. "Well, she's one strong woman. She twisted my arm. Hahaha. Tsk." 
"…" The kids found it odd that Kang Sola acted that way. Unless…
"She's usually only rough to those who tease her. Maybe you did something bad." The little girl blurted out listlessly.
"!!!"
He had been caught, and by a little girl at that! Yang Haoran's eyes almost popped and he was deemed speechless. Indeed, it was true. Kang Sola did that when his tentacle of an arm found its way around the lady in a not-so-innocent context.
Su Jingjing giggled quietly at her spot. She hovered her hand near her mouth, not exactly covering it. "Hahaha."
"What's so funny?" It irked him how this lady was now laughing at him. "You've got your answers. Now scram. Shoo."
"Huh? Sir?" The twins looked at the man then at each other.
"Go play over there or whatever. I need to be alone with this lady."
"O-Okay. Nice meeting you, Mr. Yang, our Uncle's officemate." The two kids gave him a courteous ninety-degree bow before scampering off. Since their task was done for the day, they went home eventually.
Su Jingjing was left at the food table with Yang Haoran. The lady did not throw him any glances but addressed him, "What are you doing here?"
"Hmmm? Am I not welcome here?" He slightly perched on the table then leisurely drew doodles on the tabletop with the tip of his index finger. A sharp provocative look was evident in his eyes full of dark desire, and a playful grin lingered on his lips.
"No, you're not. This small event is not open to outsiders."
"Ouch. Am I an outsider to you?" He chuckled a bit in teasing. "As I remember, we almost, ALMOST share some sort of intimacy."
"!!!"
"Shhh!!!" The lady's jaw dropped and turned her head from left to right, and at her backside too, checking if anyone was within earshot. Thankfully they were alone in that area. It was the middle of lunch so most probably most of the shelter's residents were eating the food they just distributed a while back.
"Hahaha. You're cute when you get flustered like that. I like it." He crossed his arms in front of his chest and inched closer.
Su Jingjing pulled back, aghast by his actions.
"Su Jingjing! If you're only going to flirt, come lend a hand in the kitchen! Such a freeloader! Tsk!" The head cook shouted and ranted from a distance.
The lady started off with a sigh but Yang Haoran grabbed her by the wrist.
"Didn't you hear the head cook? I have to go."
"Not so fast."
"Su Jingjing!!!" The head cook called again.
The lady tugged harder as she tried to retrieve her hand.
"Coming!" The lady called back to the head cook. The urgency flustered her even more. She forcefully pulled her hand back but Yang Haoran never let go.
"Hey! What do you want?"
"You."
"!!!"
She tugged harder. "I need to go! I have things to do here. I'm busy!"
"Where's my food? I thought there's free lunch here. So I've heard."
"It's only for the residents! How shameless! It's the Chens' food donation. Go ask your friend for a proper meal."
"No, I want something that comes from you. Why don't you cook for me?"
"Su Jingjing!" The head cook called again. The lady tugged even harder but still for naught. 
"Please, let me go!"
"Only if you agree."
"Agree to what?"
"Cook for me. And… as I remember, you still owe me some favors."
"What the – "
"Su Jingjing! Why do we still keep her here if she's this useless? I do all the work! I cook and still clean up afterward! What am I a slave here?"
"Oh my! She's gotten angry. Okay, okay! Whatever! Now, can you please release me?"
With a smirk on his face, Yang Haoran loosened his grab on her wrist. "I'll be waiting here. Finish your duties quickly. Or else, I'll intervene with your head cook and perhaps teach her a lesson or something."
"No, don't."
"Then, be quick."
"Seriously!" She whined as she ran towards the kitchen, then called out to the head cook. "I'm coming! I'm sorry!" 
The smirk on Yang Haoran's was wiped out as soon as Su Jingjing fled. He disliked how the head cook treated Su Jingjing. He disliked how her life seemed stagnant in that place. He felt a strong urge to do something about it.
Yang Haoran suddenly had some free time in his hands to waste. He sauntered in the direction of the main office of the shelter. As he went, he garnered curious looks from the women living in the shelter, the unmarried mothers both pregnant and with toddler babies. He heard them whisper with each other audibly. 
"Who's the handsome guy?"
"Don't know. But seems he's here for our Jingjing."
"Oh, really?"
'This is a place for those poor women who got knocked up.' He shuddered and for a slight while he wondered if he had gotten someone qualified to enter such an institution. He hoped not.
'But Su Jingjing…'
Certainly, she was not qualified. 
'Why is she here? Did that Guangxi somehow got her… before… but there's no chlld… then maybe something happened along the way? A miscarriage perhaps? What's the depth of Su Jingjing's involvement with Guangxi? How messy had it been between them before that both of them couldn't let go?' 
'Why is she living here?'
He had lots of questions left unanswered. It occupied his mind while waiting for her. At the end of all the mental torture, he stepped up even if it was unwarranted on his part.
It took Su Jingjing almost two hours to finish all her pending tasks, and before the head cook finally allowed her to leave the kitchen. She hurriedly returned to where she had left Yang Haoran.
However, the place was vacant. There was no sign of Yang Haoran in the vicinity.
"Did he leave? I took a long time maybe he already left." She checked her phone for any messages from him. 
Nope. None.
"If he already left, then, good."
"I'm still here. I told you I'll wait for you." 
Su Jingjing gasped and turned around in a flash. "You're still here?! After two long hours?! You really waited!"
"I told you."
'Hmph, smug!' Her brows knitted together in a frown.
"Let's go. Pack all your belongings, too. No, actually only the important ones. Those you cannot live without."
"Huh?! What the hell?"
"You're leaving this place. I already talked to the management."
"No! I'm not going anywhere! I live here! I'm happy here!"
"You are? Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am! What do you know about me? This place is important to me. I've lived here for ten whole years of my life."
"Isnt it long enough? Maybe it's time to start over."
"You don't understand. I'm not going with you."
"It's final. I already talked to the management. Come with me. Pack your things."
One pearl-sized tear after another fall from Su Jingjing's misty eyes. "How dare you? You don't know anything. This place is where I serve my sentence. I cannot leave this place. I promised Guangxi's sister."
"She's dead."
"It's a lifelong promise. As long as I'm alive, it's valid."
"That's absurd!"
Her tears continued to flow.
He exhaled sharply then dragged her by the wrist. "Let's go. We have an appointment this afternoon. You still have to cook for me, remember? I'm sure Guangxi's sister would understand if you'll continue living your life. She's not here anymore."
"Staying here is my punishment. I cannot pursue happiness on my own."
"That's your own misbelief. It's all about Guangxi again, isn't it?" He exhaled sharply again. All he wanted was to play with this girl and have some fun with her, but achieving that proved to be much more difficult than it seemed.

She balled her fists, getting ready to punch the man in the face if the situation requires. They are, after all, alone in the room.

Sometimes she forgets that Xue Guangxi was of the opposite gender – a man more than capable of beguiling innocent women when he sets his mind to the task.

“What is it now, Guangxi?” She whispered. Her voice, thin and fragile and barely audible. Perhaps more from the earlier adrenaline pushed a blush on her face.
Perhaps, it wasn’t the adrenaline to be blamed.

She tried to swat his hands for the second time, but his grip only tightened, making his point more pronounced. 

Either he obeys or she does.

Most of the time, Xue Guangxi always gave in to Kang Sola’s whims. Even when his temper wasn’t too great to be proud of, at the end of every argument, he lets the girl win.

But in this instance, he wanted to be more assertive.

“You always make me worry, Sola.” He breathed with all solemnity, like a prayer. The clasp of his hands on her shoulders tightened. She could feel it. She winced.

Then, without further ceremony or introduction, he pressed her into a tight embrace, full of concern.

Any person would be able to discern if a form of skinship was of sincere nature or not.

Kang Sola could tell his was of genuine care and concern for her.

“You are far more delicate than you think. God, Sola!” He cradled her head with his right hand placed just above her nape. Some of her balayage locks laced his manly fingers.

"Zach! Ma'am Esther is on the way here." Anastasia saw that Ma'am Esther was walking towards the kitchen.
Zach, without thinking, immediately hid from Ma'am Esther.
"Ah, Miss Anastasia and Miss Tiana. Thank you for bothering to come and play with Dillon and Dylan. I never thought you brought two of your friends too. According to Mr. Leonard, you are with Mr. Zach, where is he?" She really immediately looked for Zach's whereabouts, Ma'am Esther really looked excited while looking for him.

Zach immediately sneaked and left the kitchen. Tiana who was taking groceries from the cupboard, giggled at Zach who was avoiding Ma'am Esther.
"Hihi, I never thought Zach was so afraid of Ma'am Esther. My expectations about the handsome Zach and a man who has a cold gaze have been broken." Tiana looked happy at Zach and Anastasia's play.
"Hmm, so you looked at Zach with that look, huh?" Anastasia grinned knowing that Tiana thought Zach was cool. Has Tiana put her heart into Zach? It's quite interesting to explore.
"Ah ~, not the look of love as you mean. It's like awe feelings to him, he is good at cooking and gardening. Rarely a prince can do both things." Tiana wagged her hand and bow head with a blushing face.
"... Well, I believe in you." Anastasia spoke mockingly to Tiana. As if her words and thoughts were different.
"I'm telling the truth, come on Anna believe it." Tiana whined.
Because Anastasia has asked to cook, she will be the chef this time and Tiana will be her mentor. Even though it was a little difficult because it was her first experience cooking in the kitchen directly, she managed to make 2 dishes for dinner.
"Dinner for everything is ready." Anastasia and Tiana brought 2 pans that were still billowing onto the dining room table.
"Uwaa, dinner is ready." from behind the wall Dillon and Dylan run after hearing Anastasia's call and smell the delicious aroma of cooking.
"Wow, it's finally over." Zach spoke like an old man.
"Gosh, what happened to you Zach?" Tiana was surprised by Zach's slightly tattered appearance, and his messy hair.
"I never thought that 2 damn brats, really excited while playing." Zach walked unsteadily to the dining table.
"Hey, watch what you're saying, Zach." Anastasia stab finger to Zach's waist.
"Aw, aw. It hurts, Anastasia."
"Zach was totally finished off by Dillon and Dylan." Leonard sits at the dining table across from Dillon.
"You were tottaly finished off by two 3 year old kids? Pfft, that's ridiculous Zach." Anastasia stifled her laughter.
"I just relented, if they weren't toddlers, I might have eaten them." Zach defends himself so as not to damage his honor.
"But how can Leonard be safe with Dillon and Dylan." Anastasia wonders why Leonard is still safe unlike Zach.
"The blonde-haired brother is good, he tells an interesting story." Dillon, who has been sitting in a special chair for his, explains why Leonard was not attacked by Dillon.
"Gray haired brother, he looks evil." Dylan talked about men who look ruffled.
Anastasia smiled a little when she heard Leoanard who could get along with children. Anastasia's smile misunderstands Zach.
"All right, I just have no experience with toddlers. Feel free to laugh at me." Zach blushes and looks away from Anastasia.
"Ah, don't get me wrong, Zach. I'm not laughing at you. Let's eat." Anastasia shakes her head, and invites them all to dinner.
Anastasia cooks soup with meat and vegetables and pasta, Dillon and Dylan take Pasta, and Leonard, Tiana and Zach take soup.
She did not immediately eat the food before all of them had commented on her cooking. Especially the comment from Leonard, Anastasia began to feel restless as they started to take food from the pan, she hunched posture and played with her hair to wait for their comments.
"Um, delicious." Dillon sucked in a long paste.
"That's right, Dillon. Sister Anastasia's was delicious too." Dylan compared Anastasia's cooking with Tiana's yesterday.
Anastasia's restlessness breaks when Dillon and Dylan comment on her cooking while continuing to sip the green paste. But she is still waiting for comments from Leonard who was still researching the food in his spoon. Until finally him ate the thick soup.

"Of course, I, Sister Tiana, Brother Leonard and Brother Zach will come here again, and cook you delicious dishes." Anastasia put down her bag and hugged two toddlers who looked pitiful.
"Where's Ma'am Esther? We're going home." Tiana is looking for Grandma Dillon and Dylan.
"Eh! Ma'am Esther!" Anastasia forgot about Ma'am Esther because she was too fixated on making good food. Until she forgot to call Ma'am Esther who was still looking for Zach in the backyard.

This time, there were a lot more children that participated in the competition. It was at least two times more than the past years. Initially, they weren't going to hold the competition here but this time, the number of people hit 500 and the previous small area couldn't contain so many people. Hence, they could only settle for this place.
The shop owners were waiting outside and they were talking among themselves. Each of them was in charge of two children.
"How did Little Boss train them? They're so good at drawing at such a young age. It's impressive."
"What else? Little Boss is not a simple man. It's probably easy for him to educate these kids."
"I hope they can get a good placing."
"They'll definitely be able to. Didn't we go there and see the children draw before? They're good at it."
"Yeah, that's true."

Wu You Lan smiled, "Brother Lin, are you nervous?"
Lin Fan smiled and replied, "Why would I be nervous? I'm not nervous at all."
He was definitely not nervous. Especially when Lil' Fatty was so gifted in Chinese arts. He was much better than the others and what he did wasn't just based on practice.

There were a lot of children from the welfare organization and Lin Fan was standing at the exit, watching the shop owners bring them out. When Lil' Fatty walked out, he heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, the last child was out and there weren't any missing ones.
The other parents asked how did the competition go.

"I didn't even finish drawing when it ended."
"Mum, I drew pretty well. I drew a lot of flowers."
The kids were explaining to their parents but they were already very happy to be able to participate in it.

After returning to the welfare organization, the kids gathered around and talked about what they had drawn.
The shop owners smiled, "Little Boss, we're here at the welfare organization again. Could you cook some dishes to let us satisfy our stomachs?"
Lin Fan replied, "I saw that all of you were extremely hard working today. I'm afraid it was all because you wanted me to cook, right?"

"You can't say that. Chinese Arts is a national treasure. It's a good thing for the older generations to like it."

"This is not good too. It's literally children's drawing."
"Hey, this is pretty good. It's a pass."
The other workers were following the judges and they would seal up the artworks when the judges said that they were good.

He bought a potato from the system, cut it in half, then he potted the 2 potato halves in 2 mounds of dirt. He mixed the soil with rotten leaves and animal droppings and stored it in his spatial inventory. A prompt came out if he wanted to accelerate plant growth. After Gus selected yes, another pop up appeared with a slider bar. It seems he can adjust the time by sliding it forward.
He went with his basic knowledge of potatoes and chose 100 days. The perfect time you harvest potatoes is if the plant itself has wilted. It is a sign that the potatoes are ready to be harvested. As he took a peek at his potatoes, he succeeded and yielded  20 potatoes from the 2 potato halves.
The whole process cost him 50 MP! Currently, he has 250 MP, which means he can do this 5 more times until his MP comes back.

With the success of his experiment, he finally solved an issue he was most concerned about. He was worried about the kids' safety. With this plan, the kids won't have to risk their lives anymore, picking berries in the dangerous forest. Gus wanted to teach them how to take care of the potato farm. It's not as labor-intensive as it only needs to be watered twice a week. The potatoes are also weather resilient, so he thought the kids could handle it. The only question now is that does the potato exists in the world of Circa. Potatoes were lately introduced at the end of the medieval period back on Earth, but it could be a different story in this world. It may also be possible, that nobody knows what a potato is. Gus hoped it would not matter. The fact is, potato exists right here and now. Along with that, he also wants to teach them various ways of cooking potatoes. 

Gus took five of the potatoes in his storage and cooked these dishes in the kitchen. He cooked Mashed potatoes, Boiled Potato with butter, Oven-baked Potato with butter, French Fries and Potato chips. This time he fried the latter two, with lard which he processed from the wild boar. 
He neatly cleaned up his mess in the kitchen and placed the cooked dishes in his spatial inventory.

Gus made his way back to the Orphanage because he wanted to discuss this with Sarah.

"There you are, Mister Gus! Ms. Sarah wanted to tell you that her friend would be arriving the day after tomorrow!" The Silver-haired Gretel told Gus.

"Thank you, Gretel! Can you show me where she is?" asked Gus.

"Sure! Follow me!" 
Gretel opened the door to the receiving area and saw Ms. Sarah at her desk. 

"Do you need something, Mr. Gus?" asked Sarah.

"Yes, But before we start, Is it okay if I talk to the children as well?" asked Gus.

"It's fine. Gretel, please Gather your siblings." said Sarah.

Gretel gave a big nod and dashed out the doors. She screamed their names one by one throughout the orphanage. Her shout was as loud as the church bells itself! Sarah just sighed and bowed her head with shame. Not a moment sooner, everybody showed up inside the room and formed a line, side by side. 
 
"Everyone, I have cooked something for all of you to try!"
Gus took out the potato dishes one by one along with a fork. The dishes were still hot, and its' smell is still strong as if these were just freshly cooked.

"Wow!!! What is that? It smells really good!"

"It smells sooo nice."

"Is it a fruit?"

Their comments made Gus smile. "Everyone, this is a vegetable called Potato. I just happened to find these in the nearby forest. Please try it."

The children's faces were shining once again. They ate a bit of everything. Sarah also helped herself and tried all the dishes. Their eyes sparkled and made happy noises while eating. Little Sage squealed and couldn't help but let the potatoes stay longer in her mouth. Obviously, the kids enjoyed the french fries and potato chips the most.

"It's delicious Mr. Gus!" said Gretel.  All the kids gave a thumbs up in approval of the dish they ate. 
Even Sarah couldn't help but again be amazed at how good Gus can cook. 

"We look for berries every day in the nearby forest Mr. Gus, But this is the first time I see this kind of vegetable." Said Griffin.

"This kind of vegetables grow beneath the soil. Maybe that is why you can't find them." answered Gus. 

That question was a cliffhanger for Gus. It was only fortunate that his response was true. They cannot know about Gus' Barter skills, as he does not want to involve them in something they shouldn't.  

"Everyone, I have an answer to our food problems! As you can see, these dishes came from this vegetable right here!" Gus pulled out a piece of potato from his spatial inventory. Everyone passed the potato to each other and inspected this vegetable as if it was a present from the Gods. 

"If we cultivate these nearby, we would never go hungry and we can also sell these! But I can't do it alone. So, will you help me make a garden for these potatoes?"

Everyone's eyes lit up when they heard that they can eat this vegetable every day and earn at the same time. With no hesitation, the kids raised their hands up and volunteered to help Gus make a potato garden.

" I'll get the hoe."

"I'll get the shovel."

"I'll get a bucket, and my book!" 

It was delightful to see the kids brighten up. As they all dashed out of the room to retrieve their garden tools.

"Miss Sarah, Do you want me to teach you how to cook potatoes? Asked Gus.

"If it's fine with you Mr. Gus, then I would love to! And Mr. Gus? You can just call me Sarah."

"Then if you don't mind, I would also like it if you call me Gus." Then he took out a small container and placed it in front of Sarah.

"Please use this. It would greatly help you cook!" said Gus.

"This is salt?! I can't accept something so expensive." said Sarah.

"I have already accepted your payment of 2 coppers. It is already yours the moment i received your money." answered Gus.
 
Gus finally earned Sarah's trust. It was refreshing for her to see the kids motivated and inspired to do something for themselves. There was a moment where Sarah thought that she might have failed the children. But Gus changed all that. It was all thanks to this Strange being that can cook.

A passionate cook transports to a medieval world where Magic and Mystical creatures exists. He regret not being able to reach the apex of cooking back on earth before he got transported. But now that he is on a totally new world with unknown ingredients, will he be able to continue his dream of making unbelievable new dishes?
