Melody's office line rang and she stifled an unlady like curse, she was swamped with work and didn't have time for a call. Dr. Jacobson was only working part time while the University decided if he should be punished or not for failing to tell the University President about her discovery and approve her doctorate, they also hadn't taken his outburst too well. Because of his reduced hours, work was piling up on her; she had a pile of papers and tests to grade, as well as notes on her own experiments. The only consolation was the University had increased her salary as well as increasing Pamela's hours to help take up some of the work load. With a sigh of annoyance Melody picked up the phone on the fifth ring.
"Hello, this is professor Page."
"Hello Professor Page, you don't know me but my name is James Grant, I work for Bio Gene industries. Mr. Bently, the owner of Bio Gene is very impressed with your work and would like to offer you a position with our company."
Melody dropped the red correction pen she'd been holding and pulled her note book out from under the pile of papers on her desk. "You said Bio Gene, yes I remember receiving several emails from your company. But in truth I didn't give them much thought." The company was out of state and the salary offered was small, too small to make her consider leaving California. In addition she was already considering a job at a new upcoming tech firm called Chem Gen. The emails she had exchanged with the recruiter had promised her not only her own lab but that she would head her own department. They were currently building their new facility and it was only a short drive from the University giving it another plus.
"Perhaps I could meet you and we could discuss the offer. Mr. Bently is very interested in having you come and work at our think tank."
Melody turned to her computer and pulled up her emails, she scanned them quickly and saw a recent email from a J. Grant. She clicked on it and opened the email scanning it quickly. The email asked if she would call to set up a phone interview to discuss employment with Bio Gene.
"I have your last email before me now, I flattered but I'm not considering job offers at the moment." Melody looked at the location of Bio Gene, it was in North Dakota, the thought of all that snow sent a shiver down her back. "Especially not a job in North Dakota."
"Before you say no, at least hear me out, Bio Gene has a lot to offer."
Melody groaned in frustration, apparently Mr. Grant didn't take hints well. She was considering how to politely tell him no when there was a brief knock on her door and Garrick opened it without waiting for her to answer. He gave her a smile, then nodded towards her phone. She shook her head and held up a finger, thinking how handsome Garrick looked in his black uniform. "I really have to go Mr. Grant, thank you again but no." Melody hung up the phone as she heard Mr. Grant protesting.
"I'm sorry I wouldn't of barged in if I knew you were on the phone." Garrick said.
"Actually you saved me. It was a very insistent man who wanted to tell me about why I should come and work for his company in North Dakota." Melody came around her desk and stepped up to Garrick, standing on tip toe she slipped her arms about his neck to give him a quick kiss. Garrick returned her kiss, but kept his hands about her waist after she broke the kiss.
"You didn't tell me you'd applied for a new job." Garrick was alarmed at the thought of Melody taking a job out of state.
"I didn't. I've gotten a ton of unsolicited emails from companies wanting to talk to me about working for them since the interview aired. This was the first phone call. I was trying to think of a polite way to hang up when you came in, so you see you saved me."
"Glad to be of service then." Garrick gave her a grin followed by a quick kiss. "You ready for lunch, I'm off for the rest of the day and my class isn't till three."
"Yes, I'm starving. Let me get my bag and we can go." Melody slipped from Garrick's arms and crossed back to her desk as there was a quick knock on her door and Jenny stepped in.
"Hi Garrick, I was hoping you'd be here. I know this sounds nerdy but could you sign this for me." Jenny held a men's magazine out to Garrick, he was featured on the cover in white dress shirt and sports jacket. "Oh and Melody these are all for you." Jenny handed Melody a stack of mail while she smiled at Garrick like a star struck teenager.
"Yeah sure, this came out better than I thought." Garrick held the magazine up for Melody to see then grabbing a pen off Melody's desk signed to my good friend Jenny, best wishes Garrick across the bottom of the cover, then handed it back to Jenny.
"Oh, you're right; you look as handsome as ever, we'll have to pick up several copies." Melody shook her head in amusement at the cow eyes Jenny was making, then looked at the stack of mail Jenny had given her. "Are you sure these are all for me."
"Yup, and I have a stack of phone messages for you too." Jenny took the magazine back from Garrick, then absentmindedly handed Melody a stack of pink colored messages. "You've been getting calls all morning, mostly from reporters, a few about job offers. I knew you were busy so I just took messages, though I think the main switch board might have passed you a call, if so I'm sorry."
"Wow, really." Melody shook her head in disbelief. "I don't understand what all the fuss is about, I just published my findings."
"You're kidding right, you come up with a drug free, side effect free cure for cancer that also prolongs your life expectancy and you're surprised that people want to talk to you about it." Jenny gave her an exasperated look. "You know for a smart chick, you can be really dumb."
"Right, so maybe you have a point, I'm just surprised that's all." Melody flipped through the stack of mail checking the return addresses, one was from her publisher. She quickly tore it open while Jenny went back to making cow eyes at Garrick.
Garrick gave Jenny a chin wag. "So how are things with Dr. Jacobson here only part time?"
"It's great, at least for me, less work, so you two off to lunch?"
"That's the plan, you ready to go baby?" Garrick looked up to see Melody had gone pale and was starring at the letter in her hand. "What is it, bad news?"
"No, no, it's from my publisher. My book sold out and they are back ordered they are going to do a second printing. They sent me a check for twenty thousand dollars, and they say when the other books sell I should make at least another ten thousand dollars." Melody held out a check for Garrick to see.
"What, that's terrific." Garrick stepped forward to take the check from Melody. He scanned it quickly then handed it back to her. "They say anything else?"
"Yes they want me to write a book about my research, they want it to be a compilation of all my articles with some tie in

"I know I promised Hank I'd get some sleep, but I just want to say how very proud I am of you, Jean," Xavier said as he lay on a bed, Jean was sitting next to him "The entire class did well, of course, but the way you and Beast conducted yourselves in my absence was exceptional. We're supposed to be a catalyst between these two warring species. The moment we resort to murder, I'm afraid our credibility disappears forever."

"Don't tell Wolverine, Professor. He'll be on the first bus back to Canada" Jean said with a small smile.

"I hope you were smiling when you said that, Miss Gey?"

"You must be a little disappointed everyone just went over to their separate way after Weapon X, Sir. Rogue and Juggernaut must have laughed for a full minute when I asked if they were interested in signing up with us." Jean said as she tugged Professor into his bed.

"Actually, I'm very pleased with how phase two transpired, Jean. Wraith is gone, Weapon X discredited, Fury's tipped as head of S.H.I.E.L.D. …" Professor said "The only surprise was my… clone, or should I say, son. I would have wished to meet him, but I believe it is only a matter of time before he joins us here with Magneto and the others. It's going to be magnificent under one roof at last. Don't you think?" (#NoHomo)

Jean took a step back "Professor, I think you must still be a little drowsy from the anesthetic. Magneto's dead. You killed him. Remember?"

Professor smiled "I never told anyone I killed Magneto, Jean. Murder is the line we must never cross. Don't you remember what we were talking about earlier?"

"Professor, please. This isn't funny. Professor?"

"Are you two sure you want to follow me?" Onslaught asks

Rogue shrugged "It's either you or the Brotherhood and they haven't impressed me at all."

Cain nods his head "Yeah Brotherhood is not what it is meant to be. Plus, I still owe you ten bucks."
 
Onslaught smiles, despite his newfound powers, this world was a very dangerous place, and having powerful mutants around would be very helpful. Plus studying Rogue's powers could be very helpful. The only problem was that he couldn't trust them. 

Luckily there was an easy way to make sure they wouldn't betray him or leave his side anytime soon. "Great, but before we leave I want to ask Rogue something."

"Yeah Sugar?" Rogue said

*chuckles*"Well Rogue, do you know how your powers work?"

"Of course I know how they work, I touch people and they die!" she all but yelled, her power seemed to be a very sensitive subject.

Onslaught ignored her outburst and shook his head "Not like that. I mean what do you think happens when you touch them? Why do you get people's powers and memories? How do you get them?" he asked

"I- I don't know?" she admitted

"I've been thinking a great deal about your absorption powers… more specifically the way skin contact triggers your power…"

"Yeah, and how is thinking going to help her, just get to the point," The big childhood friend was getting irritated, he didn't like talking about his crush's condition.

"Well, fine I'll just show you… you see if I were to create a bio-magnetic shield around my body… then just perhaps…" Onslaught grabbed Rogue's exposed arm

The shock was evident in Rogue's eyes  "We – WE TOUCHED" she screamed 

"But- but how?" Cain asked in disbelief.

"Well, Rogue's powers allow her to absorb a person's life force, the scientific term for that would be bio-electricity." Onslaught tried to explain it to the two trailer trash with more street smarts than academics.

"What?" Rogue and Cain asked at the same time.

"The bio-electricity contains people's memories, their physical skills, and in superhumans- their powers. This electricity travels through neurons in our body, including our skin. And when you touch someone, you absorb their life-force and gain their memories and powers." he explained

"And how did you touch her?" Cain asked

"What I did here is akin to a trick. I emit a bio-magnetic field around myself so when she touches me, the magnetic field disturbs electric transference from person to person, preventing her from absorbing anything." Onslaught explained

"S- so Ah can touch again?" she asked with hope in her eyes

Onslaught shook his head "Well… yes and no. I have to actively use my powers for you to touch someone, as long as you tell me you are touching them before doing so, there shouldn't be any problem."

Rogue hugged Onslaught and kissed him on the cheek "Thank ya, thank ya so much" she exclaimed.

Onslaught would have enjoyed a hot girl kissing him if it wasn't for the fact he could literally feel Juggernaut's glare.

He took a quick look into Cain's mind which showed him that the Unstoppable Juggernaut was currently imagining how easy it would be to 'rip the tiny man in half'. "Anyway…  we should get going, we won't accomplish anything by staying here." 

"Where are we going?"

"To the city that never sleeps." He said as he made a metal sphere with three seats "There are few things that I want there."

"Aren't you like a month old? How would you know where something you need would be? " Juggernaut asks as they get into the metal sphere

Onslaught's only response was a shrug. 

-- A Few Hours Later, New York City --

A metal sphere lands in 42nd Street and Madison Avenue, Manhattan, New York City. 

Next to the famous Baxter Building. 

"Oy, wake up, we're here," Onslaught said as he opened the metal sphere

"*yawn* Good morning to you too," Rogue said

Cain was about to make a similar comment but he noticed they were in the middle of a busy street "What the fuck? Why did you land us in the middle of the street? Idiot Sapiens will call the cops or the army." he said as he got ready for a fight

"They don't see us" was Onslaught's explanation

"Wait what? How?" Southern beauty asks

"Thanks to telepathy, these people just see an empty spot and walk around us. Now let's get going. We have things to do." Onslaught said as they walked towards a photography studio 

"What are we doing here?" Muscular of the bunch asks

"Well, this is a photo studio, people usually take pictures here,"

"I meant why do we need to take pictures, smartass," Cain said, muttering the last part.

"You two will go on a mission. Create a fake identity for me. But more importantly, create multiple bank accounts, preferably offshore ones. I'll telepathically upload the information you'll need if that's alright with you." Onslaught said with a fake smile. 

He didn't need telepathy to see his companions weren't exactly comfortable with the idea of him uploading information to their heads. "If you prefer, I could always write it down… but it will take longer" The two trailer trash nods immediately. 

"*sigh* Fine." A metal pen floated and started writing on a piece of paper as the photographer took a picture of him, and then gave 16 copies to Rogue "More than enough pictures. Now take these and get to work, we'll meet in front of the Empire State Building in 72 hours. Don't get into any unnecessary conflict."

They both nod, and then Rogue asks something "What will you do?"

"I need to check something…"

They nod and leave. And as soon as they do, Onslaught turns towards the Baxter Building 'Now then, let's see if the Super-Geniuses of Marvel are all they are meant to be.'

Two roommates find themselves in the Marvel Comics, they are granted the powers and drawbacks they bought in a Jumpchain a week ago.

Rds "Well you see life kinda hits an author from time to time bud, and life has kicked me something good...It's been hard to keep a consistent upload schedule."

Rds "No, I need to work on myself and then work to get ahead of it. when I do I will upload another update chapter one week before I start the uploading process so that EACH DAY you will have something new, I will also during this break write more character bio sheets. Cole "You sure? I mean what could make you come back faster?"

Have you guys ever wondered how one piece of sheet determines your capability or your smartness? Isn't it Ironic that 1 sheet of paper will change your course in future so much? You will either find yourself studying or wondering what the hell is your purpose in life? 

Yes, today I'm going to express how it feels like to be a 2020 year graduate. It SUCKS! I'M NOT KIDDING! (I mean everyone will eventually go through that period in life, plus I think that all past graduates think the same to some extent)

Let me express how ANNOYED and DEPRESSED I am, and also why and how I started writing in webnovel. My journey through writing.

This year so many shit is happening around the world, so many death and social unrest. Covid-19 which is taking forever to leave. George Floyd and Kobe Bryant's death, obviously these two death caused different sensation/reaction.  It's sad that one died because of an accident, while the other due to police brutality. 

Well let's leave this matter aside, and go to the real point as to why I'm writing and sharing some parts of my real life and thoughts to you guys. 

First, 😊I would like to thank all of you guys for voting and supporting me! It really means a lot, I feel like I did accomplished something. 

Now I will move on to my main point and explain to you guys why I am not uploading any new Chapters lately. 

I was obviously working on my other book, my first ever book "Otome game: you're my love, I will never fall in love with you again." 

I was busy editing my book and also completing the story. 😂I realized that I had such a CRINGE writing style. I was wondering how could I possibly make these stupid mistakes? I realize that I actually improved 🤣well that is what I would like to think! 

I WANTED to complete that book, because I felt like I was losing interest in it! 😖I don't want to leave my book incomplete or drop it, 😁I genuinely like my first book that was how I was introduced to writing. (btw that book should be in hiatus for around 1 and a half year, 😆but if you are reading this that means it's ALMOST (you will know why almost) completed!)

I did not want to give it a summarised ending. So yeah, if you do read that book of mine you might feel like the ending is going to be rushed, but I'm trying my best to complete it while making it make sense on the way. Oh and while I was editing some parts of my first book, I obviously know that there is still some mistakes, but I tried with all of my abilities to fix it! (This book is still not completed!)

Well enough with that, so let me announced you another important matter, I will be back on late July. 

😭I hate myself so much! 

I THINK I WILL FAIL IN MATHS and BIOLOGY! Like SERIOUSLY fail in maths and biology! I need a miracle to pass.

I had horrible time management problem for English! I mean it! LIKE HORRIBLE! 😭I'm scared that I will fail but I know I should not fail English but might get very low marks.

For maths, I'm 99% sure I'm going to fail it! Like I was not really sure, but after the exam, idk where my friends send me the answers of the maths examination. And for some reasons I remember very clearly what I wrote for my answers. I ended up calculating my average and yeah I FAILED by like 5-6 marks. 😭FML!

🤣😂I hope that many students are in my situation, so that I or should I say we have a chance to pass, 😢but from the news I read, they were saying it was EASY! 🤣I hope it's the Dunning-Kruger effect! 😭Like that's the only way I can possibly pass maths. 😭 I really hope that this year math's cut off marks is low! 

Well for Biology, I messed up! I mean it was mainly my fault, I did not study, just study it one day before or to be more accurate, 🙂at last freaking 4-5 hours, yes you guessed it right! 

That day I couldn't sleep at all, like I wanted to sleep but my consciousness was saying 'krebs cycle' 'carbon fixation' 'Dominant/recessive gene', all the terms were going through my head. 

At around 3 am near 4, I decided to study for Biology.

1 day before bio exam, I tried studying but nothing went to my head. Then I was planning to give up biology and go to sleep, I was ready to write some nonsense answers for Biology exam.

🤔Like if they asked me why did giving too much food to the fishes in the tank caused them to die? (😂btw something like this came in my biology
 exam. It was because of ammonia, a toxin, I think)

😂I would have probably wrote, because they are dumb and kept on eating non-stop caused stroke and died, or say that some 🤣unidentified UFO came and killed the fish with UV rays. 

😂🤣 Obviously I didn't write that answers, but I was planning to, while doing my exam.

IDK if I was lucky or not! But what I studied in those last 4-5 hours did appear in the exam! That photosynthesis appeared! 😇 hasn't given up on me!  I tried my best with all my ability to understand and memorise all the biological terms and how it worked. 

I'm 100% sure that bio needs accurate analysis, so I might fail it! Like very high chance! 😭Like come on, I need to be very lucky to pass by studying for just 4-5 hours! 

That day, I actually broke my record of being awake the longest, like after biology exam I felt like  a huge mountain of pressure being lifted off, bio was my last exam. I felt so refreshed and happy, FINALLY! I'm free! I did not slept till later in the evening. 

🙂Ok you must be thinking Author why didn't you study way earlier? 

Well because

🙂 I was studying like around 1 month before the exam, but there was a rumour that the exam will be postponed! This affected my studying motivation, AND YOU KNOW WHAT IT DID! Like just 4-6 days before the exam officially started, the exam postpone.

🙂Enters another rumour, that the exam will be cancelled or postpone again! THIS HUGELY AFFECTED MY STUDYING MOTIVATION!  

🙂Like what was the point if I study so much and in the end it BECOMES CANCELLED?

🙂There was no answer to my question, so yeah I just did nothing, 🤔but did I really did nothing.

Enters me joining webnovel contest 😭I was very stressed and in high pressure. So writing actually helped me get rid of my pressure, I got to escape reality. 

And I was already tired of those rumours and I decided to gamble to some extent. 🙂 I'm the type of student that studies one day before the exam, and you know what I actually decided to do it! 🙂 Obviously I did studied maths like 3 days earlier. 

I'M A PROCASTINATOR! Don't be like me!

😊ANYWAYS, the moral of the story from my experience is that you should not be lazy like me! 

Don't find some excuses to not study like me! 

I'm probably going to cry with tears of misery/regret when I get my results.

Like I have no problem with my brain but I do have a huge problem with my attitude! 

Those damn annoying classmates of mine, consider me a nerd and a teacher's pet (well maybe to some extent I am), but 🙄 please, I just pay attention in class! You guys(classmates) just are not attentive and find my actions lame! That's all! At home I'm very lazy. School is the only place I study! 

😭I HATE IT! 🙄 Can't gossip relative/teachers and some classmates please spare me from criticism? 😭It's so toxic for me! 😭My friend she is not as smart as me but very hardworking and dedicated, she is improving day by day, I want to be happy if she passed everything and celebrate her success! But I know if I fail and she pass! 😭😭😭I will definitely be the subject of ridicule in the rumours! 

🙂I am supposed to be a 'nerd' in my class, I have two friends who are very hardworking and smart, I belong in their group, I'm not too worried about them, except one of them due to UNFORTUNATE problem that occurred during her examination. We three are supposed to be the 'nerd' of our class, but tbh my classmates don't even score that high except for English, they get like 18-36 something marks for everything else, so in that class as a student who just BARELY PASS! I'm considered a 'nerd'!!!!!

🙄🙂Do you know my frustration? 🙂 I'm just fulfilling my duty as a proper student, the students around me kind of sucks that's why I'm considered the top! My friend who is not as smart as me, but she always works very hard and she somehow always ends up near to passing marks! In this situation, she never gave up! She kept on working hard for maths and everything else, she has something that I lack! That is hard work! I really appreciate her! She is indeed worthy of respect! 

😭But here comes the part that I HATE! 😭I don't want to be compared to her! If she pass everything, I want to be happy for her! 🙄 People (teacher/classmates) will say "look at her! Isn't she supposed to be a good student? Isn't she supposed to be smart? But wait isn't (my friend) known to be less smart than her? But she passed! Does it mean that (Me) is stupid?" or "Do you know (my friend) was not smart, but hard working and in the end she enters university, BUT (ME) a smart student failed because...." (You guys don't have to rub salt to my wounds! Yes! I know I'm STUPID! I know that I'm lazy! A PROCASTINATOR! No need to say it behind my back)

They will say all these (toxic)things, and I can't help but feel salty about this! 😭I don't want to be salty towards my friend, she deserves it! 😭But I don't want to be trampled down! I know I made a mistake! I know I am bad! You guys don't have to gossip about it behind my back! 😭😭😭They might use this as a weapon to hurt me indirectly/directly! 😭I might become even more depressed!

Tbh I'm not afraid of failure! I mean I will be upset! But what I'm more afraid of is my family's expectations and those gossips behind my back! 😭Those things leads me to be so annoyed of life in general! Why do people have to compare? I mean I get it but, sometimes it's not appropriate! People have feelings! Don't compare your child with someone else's child! At the end of the day! It's you(parents) who shaped your child to be like that! The environment plays an important role in building up your character! So before you blame your child! Or start criticizing someone, remember everything has a reason! 

When I said environment! Yeah Covid-19 was not helping me! This all happened due to Covid-19, well to a large extent! 

😊Anyways I'm taking this break from writing my novel to figure out what I'm going to do with my life! I'm currently busy applying for associate degree/higher diploma and working (part time)
