I were waked up again by mom, she was stroking my hair. 


"Morning sweety, today is your first school day." Mom 
"Morning, " I said while rubbing my eyes, "what will I learn at school?" Me 
"Hmm … many useful things like math, reading and writing, as well as knowledge over the world." Mom answered, still stroking. 
"How hard is math?" I asked. 


I hate math, I was a failure at it, my school had a point system from 0-15, 15 would be an A+ in the USA and I was around 4-6... 


"I think most of the children had problems with it, but I you can do it and if not we will help you." Mom tried to encourage me. 
"Okaaayyy " I said without any spirit. 
"Now get dressed, Kurt asked if you could heat the forge." Mom said and left. 


I got dressed, heated the forge with magic and ate breakfast. 


"Clair do you know where the school is?" Dad asked. 
"Yup, it´s the building where I met you both isn´t it? "Me 
"Yes" Dad 
" Before I forget, Kyle will teach me some swordplay, so I won´t come home after school, okay?" Me 
"Ok, but be careful "Mom 


I stood up and said goodbye while I went outside to school. 


Let´s see if the children here have ever seen an elf, dad said they are rare. 


I reached the school building and took, like the other kids who are strolling in, my shoes off. 
And while I walked to Georg, who was standing at the front, I heard some children whispering. 


"Hey, hey who´s that girl?" Kid 1 (boy) 
" I don´t know, but she is cute" Kid 2 (girl) 
"But what is with her ears? "Kid 1 
" Right, they look funny. "Kid 2 


Georg noticed me as I reached him. 


"Hi Clair, do you also want to learn?" Georg 
"Yup, can I ?" Me 
"Sure, sure, the children here never saw an elf before, so don´t be upset if they are wary of you. We will first do some math and then I´ll explain a little about the world. Sit where you want." Georg said and motioned me to sat down. 


I looked around and found a nearly empty bench, where I sat down. 




"Ahem, " George drew attention and waited until the children were quiet. 
" As you may see, we have a new child with us, her name is Clair and no, there is nothing wrong with her ears. She is an elf, but I will tell later something about elf's. She is now the adoptive child of the Schmiedehands and will live here with us." George 


Some children raised their hands. 


"Yes, Milli?" George 
"How old is Clair?" Milli 
"You can ask her later. Now we want to continue the last math question." George answered her and gets a lot of groans as an answer. 


"Don´t be so, math will help you in the future, how will you know that a merchant doesn't scam you if you can´t calculate? So who can say how much 4+9 is? " George 


Really? Basic things? If it is only that then I am saved. 


We continued these questions until Georg had enough. 


"Ok, now to the next thing. I will draw a map of our world Solantis. " George said and begun to draw a map on the blackboard.

The dragons are now gone, but I can´t say it here and now ^^ 


"We humans are not as strong as the beastkins or as profound in magic as the demon, fairys and elfs. We also are not as good as the dwarfs when it comes to crafting, but we are the most balanced race. While the dwarfs and beastkin are not as good as we in magic. The fairys and elfs are also not as good as we in crafting. This balanced nature allows us to defend our continent against the demons or other aggressors. 
So that´s it for today. We will see each other next week. " Georg finished his explanation and the lesson. 


I stood up and wanted to go, but I was stopped by two children.

"Sure, but I have to go now, Kyle has promised me to train with me." Me

"So bye," I said while I walked past them.

I put my shoes on and walked out, where Kyle already stood. 


"Hi Clair, how was school?"Kyle 
"Interesting, how was your date?" I replied. 


Kyle got red and said. 


"It... it was good, thank you for the ring and your help, I think I may become her boyfriend..." 
"Oh, that´s good, if you have problems ask, I may be able to help you. " Me 
" I can´t ask a little girl for help in things like this " He stuttered. 


Ooohh right, I look like a little girl ^^. But it is not like I really could be a big help, I never was interested in dates and things like that. 


"Can we begin with our training? " Me 
" Hm? Oh sure, follow me, do you have a sword? " Kyle 
"Yup, but that is at home. "Me 
" Then we fetch it and begin after that. "Kyle said and we walked to my home, where I took my sword. 
"Oh, this sword looks good did Kurt made this?" Kyle asked. 
"Jep" I lied. 


We went to a field outside the village and Kyle drew his sword. 


"Look closely," Kyle said and begun to move. 


He had both hands on the hilt and moved his arms slowly over his head, where he stopped. 
Then he slashed the sword in one move down. The sword was as high as his waist when he abruptly stopped. Now he twisted it fast to the left and slashed in a left arc upwards. Where he once again stopped. He slashed his sword down but stopped when he was on his chest level. Now he pierced with his sword forward and stopped again. But this time he slowly moved his sword in his scabbard. 
I clapped because it looked like it was exhausting for him. 


Don´t know why but I think there where some useless movements mixed in and I think I could do it way faster. 


"How was that? good wasn´t it?" Kyle asked proudly. 
"Yep, can I try?" Me 
"Sure but be careful "Kyle 


I copied his movements but I did it faster and I also had more grace in it. 
As I finished I looked to Kyle and he stood there with his jaw dropped. 


"You were better than me... how? Isn´t that your first time holding a sword?" Kyle asked stunned 
"It is but I am a genius," I said while puffing my chest out. 


He only gave me a defeated wry smile. 


"If you are that fast in learning, I can´t teach you much, sorry," He said while his head hung down. 
"It´s not a problem, I teach myself." Me 
"Then practice until it feels natural. "Kyle said and sat down. 


I did the same movements for a few hours and Kyle said. 


"Ok, that´s enough, it´s getting dark come I bring you home. " 
"Okay, that was fun, " I said while beaming a smile into his face. 


Kyle got red and stuttered something like. 


"N.. no.. no problem " 


We reached my home and I said goodbye to him. 


"Hi Clair, how was school " Mom greeted me as I walked in the kitchen. She cooked something.

And after a normal day it happened.... Well yeah, hi this is my first story and I´m extremely inexperienced, so please help me with suggestions in the comment section. The MC is going to be OP and will have a few screws loose. He is not good, but will do good deeds, if he sees them necessary. By 6:30 that evening, the construction work had stopped, and the compound blissfully returned to its normal serenity.  Jackie breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they had enough rooms for the guests who would be arriving the following day.  

Seated with the family on the back deck, she gazed around the table and caught Scotts eye.  He gave her a quick wink and returned his focus to her father, who was in the middle of a fishing story.  The pair had hit it off from the moment her parents had arrived that afternoon.  

Of course, the elder Walkers had insisted on seeing the fire damage first-hand, and although saddened at the losses the compound had sustained, theyd been impressed with the amount of work that had already been done to restore the place to better than before.  Theyd taken a tour of the entire property and Jackie felt that her parents seemed pleased about the direction the business was taking.

Her father, in particular, had seemed impressed with Scotts new venture, and Scott had promised to take them out to the island in the morning to look over the plans for the cabin remodel.

The steak is delicious, Jackie, her mother was saying.  

Jackie turned and smiled.  Im so glad.  I just pulled them out of the freezer.  With everything going on, I forgot to go grocery shopping.

Ann patted her arm.  Were so proud of how youre handling everything.  Just imagine, our little fish camp with a proper restaurant.  I cant think what some of our old faithfuls will think, the laughed.

Scott nodded.  Its really going to be nice.  Jackies doing a tremendous job.  He beamed at her proudly.

Tell me again why Blake isnt here? Ann prompted.  

Jackie drew a deep breath and eyed the children warily.  Kids, are you finished eating?

Yes! Grant and Emma chorused.

Why dont you take Bear and go catch some fireflies?  Youve been cooped up in the house all day.  Jackie watched as her children and the huge shaggy dog scrambled down the deck steps in the fading sunset.  And Grant, she called, mind your bandage.

When she looked back, all eyes were on her.  Okay, you remember that I mentioned that Shasta Pyke was staying here?

Her parents nodded, and Scott leaned back in his chair, lacing his fingers across his belly.

Well, Blake and Amy, she looked quickly to her mother and father, thats what she prefers to be called.  Anyway, theyve becomeclose.  

Point by point, Jackie explained how her little brother Blake had fallen in love with former child actor and current Hollywood bad girl Shasta Pyke, and how a misunderstanding had led to her being arrested and taken back to California.

When she finished the story, Jim and Ann stared at her in amazement.  So Blake went to get her out of jail? Jim asked.

Jackie nodded.  Im not entirely clear on the details of what happened after they left here, but theyre supposed to be coming back sometime this weekend, so you can ask them what happened.  Truthfully, I wouldnt mind hearing about it myself.  

The childrens giggles drew her attention to the lawn below them.  Obviously, I didnt want the kids to know about Amys legal business.  Shes a nice girl, really.  

She waved toward the silent construction projects.  All of this is thanks to her.  She wants to be a full partner.  We havent received the insurance money yet.  She got the ball rolling, and shes paying for everything at this point.  

Jackie shared a knowing grin with Scott.  She can be really sweet, but when she wants something, she doesnt take no for an answer.

Half an hour later, the adults had cleaned up from dinner and returned to the deck to watch the sky as lightning streaked silently across the western horizon.

Might get some rain tonight, Jackies father observed.  I love our condo on the beach, but Ive missed the wilderness.

Scott stood up and stretched.  Well, folks, I should probably be going.  The crew will be here early tomorrow, and I want to be ready to help them.  He approached Jackies parents, hand outstretched.  Jim, Ann, Im so happy to finally meet you.  Blake talked about you all the time.

Ann ignored the hand and went in for a big hug.  Im happy to meet you, Scott.  Im so happy youre going to be working here at Lake Miranda.

Ill walk you down the dock, Jackie said, following Scott down the stairs.

Good night, Mr. Scott, Emma called.

Good night, Princess Emma, he grinned, bowing dramatically.  Ill see you tomorrow.

When can I come to the island? Grant asked.

Scott looked up to the deck where Ann and Jim watched raptly.  Your grandparents are coming over tomorrow.  Maybe you can come with them.  

Yes! Grant enthused, running off to chase more fireflies.

Side by side, Jackie and Scott walked down the dock to the skiff hed appropriated.  They stopped there, Jackie with her back to the lodge.

She smiled up at Scott.  Are they watching?

Scott lifted his eyes.  Yep.

Awesome! Jackie giggled.  Well, thanks for grilling the steaks.  And for making up your room for my folks.  Trina and I went to do it, and it was all taken care of.  So, thanks.

He stepped into the skiff and cast off.  He waved as the solar motor churned quietly below the waterline, pushing him toward the island.

Sighing deeply, Jackie returned to the deck and reclaimed her chair.  The three adults watched in the receding light as Scott landed at the island dock, tied up, and climbed the hill to the cabin.

Scott is a nice man, Ann observed thoughtfully.

Yes, he is, Jackie agreed.

Jim looked at Jackie.  And hes a good friend of Blakes?

Jackie nodded.  They worked together at Crossroads.  She frowned slightly.  Im not sure if Scott was there when Blake went there as a camper.

Are you and Scott dating?  Her mother watched her expectantly.  Jackie felt her face grow hot and she was grateful for the deepening shadows of dusk.

She shrugged slightly.  Um, sort of.  We went to dinner in Manitoulin once.

Ann gave a pleased smile.  Good.  Its time you got back on the horse that threw you.

The two adults were stunned by what they had just learned, they had never thought that things like that could happen to such young children. Now armed with what they had just learned they had to make a decision, they had to decide on whether or not to keep the children.

      The children looked around in confusion, 'what did this skinny man mean by we've arrived', they wondered.       "Yes sir, these are the children we told you about on the phone earlier", the skinny man replied excitedly knowing what would come next.
      " mmm, welldone Mr Jones, you always deliver on time, we'll make sure the boss is aware of that, now hand over the children, we'll take it from here." The huge man said.
      " ummm, Mr Charles I mean no disrespect but I was hoping to deliver the children in person so I can meet the boss for myself you see, I've always wanted to meet him", Mr Jones said nervously.
     "Mr Jones, don't push your luck, give us the children and we'll try to remember to tell the boss about your good deeds", the huge man named Charles said with an irritated look. 
    "Of course, of course, Sorry, here they are, you can take them", Mr Jones said hurriedly. The children just sat there and stared at the men talking about them as if they were goods you buy at a supermarket.
    "Come on children, let's go", Charles said he trying to get the children to come with him but they just clung to each other more. His companion Jack grew impatient and grabbed Steve towards himself and held him tightly as the boy struggled to free himself while crying for his siblings to help him. "Let him go, let him go!", the twins yelled while beating at Jack. 
     "If you want me give him back you'll both have to do everything I say, got it?", he said, clearly unaffected by their beatings. " Why should we believe you, your friends already lied to us and took us away from our mommy", Sylvester said, not stopping his assault on the man. "You'll believe me because you don't have a choice, now stop it and get in the car now", Jack said impatiently, and as if waiting for that moment the dust around them settles to reveal a truck like car with huge tires making the children gasp in surprise and a bit of awe and fear, "It's so huge", Sylvia said absentmindedly, Jack just smirked and walked towards the truck.
      " I almost forgot how great you are with children", Charles said in amusement. "Shut up and help them get in the the truck", Jack said and got into the drivers sit, throwing Steve to the backseat and looked out the window, "Hey Jones, you'll get your money later today", he shouted so he could be heard over the roaring engine. Jones nodded and waved before walking back to his van and drove away leaving a trail of dust behind him. 
     "Ready?", Jack asked, turning to look at the backseat to make sure everyone was strapped in. Charles nodded and took out his phone to keep himself busy as the truck raced farther into the sparse deserted land, away from everything Sylvia and her siblings considered safety and away from their mother. As if just realizing their predicament, she bust into tears with Steve not too far behind as her cried for his mother, Sylvester tried consoling them but ended up crying along with them. 
      "Shut the f*ck up little imps", Jack snapped at them making them cry all the more, "Charles do something", he called out to his companion who just ignores them and puts on a headphone and continues playing on his phone. Speeding up so as to reach their destination quicker before he kills someone, they stop at another deserted location with nothing in sight but sand, sparse vegetation and two ordinary looking men wearing matching uniforms. 
    Jumping out of the truck, Jack made his way to the two men and exchanged a few words, the men looking at the truck and Jack telling them what they needed to know and also showed them his permission slip. After a few minutes one of the men took out a device out of his uniform and pressed a few buttons as Jack made his way back to the truck. Then in what seemed like an empty sparse desert, a huge clear glass like dome appeared and the truck drove inside followed by the two men In uniform who stopped just inside the entrance and pressed a few more buttons making the dome invisible again. 
      As they entered the dome, the children scrambled close to the window in curiosity as they appeared to be in a town from the past as it had an aged look to it as if time stopped flowing in that part of the world. As they drove past the streets, the truck looked completely out of place and on reaching what looked like a market square, they saw people, both men and women dressed in sparse thin clothing with chains around their hands and ankles and their heads down in shame or tiredness, with two other men who were properly dressed calling over the passersby to look at the sparsely clothed people.

     "Mr, why are they wearing such clothes outside, mommy normally wears stuff like that to bed and why are those things on their hands and legs, they look heavy, did they do something wrong?", Sylvester asked in a voice filled with child like curiosity as he tugged on Charles sleeve.
     Partly surprised that the boy had the courage to touch him and ask him that question, Charles answered in an amused voice, "That's correct little boy,  they are thieves and are being punished for what they did, now keep your heads down and stop looking outside the window until we reach where we are going", he warned in a non threatening voice. 
     "But everything looks really strange and kinda cool, we want look", Sylvester whined, partially forgetting their situation. Running low on patience Jack snapped at them, " You better do as you're told else I'll make you join those people outside". The children's eyes widen in fear and looked down to avoid being scolded or joining the people who they thought were criminals buh were actually slaves on display for sale. "Really smooth Jack, really smooth", Charles said sarcastically, making Jack give him the middle finger.
     After driving for a few minutes, the truck stopped in front of a huge house the size of a mansion but looked like a warehouse. Getting down Charles kept the children between Jack and himself as they walked inside the building but not before showing their permission slip to the guards at the door who nodded and let them pass. On entering the twins gasped at how spacious the interior while Steve just suck on his thumb and clung to his sister as he also looked at the strange environment. It was a four story building with a lot of rooms in each floor like some kind of dormitory with two set of stairs leading to each floor and to their left was a spacious kitchen with people running around as if in a hurry to get whatever they were doing done quickly. Looking to their right was an equally if not more spacious dining hall with six long tables and rows of chairs, and the extreme end was a platform with three chairs and a beautifully decorated table In front with extricate carvings on it and the chairs. The ceiling was really high that the children had to really strain their necks to look at it and it also had large windows but they were a little about eight ft off the ground so you'd have to climb a ladder to get to it. 
      "Come on children!, we need to get going, you can go sightseeing later now hurry up", Jack said irritatedly. As they walked up a set of stairs, they arrived in front of a door down the hall and Charles stepped forward and knocked before opening the door making the children gasp in horror.
      For inside the spacious room with a lot of books, records and files and a large table at the center making it look like an office stood a man with a woman pressed against him with his mouth to her throat as a little trail of blood dripped down her body from her neck, as if just finished a meal the man threw the woman on the floor and dabbed at his mouth with a hanckerchief before turning to his visitors with cold look as his eyes landed on the men but turned into a smile with his fangs on display as he looked at the children. The children stood frozen to the floor as they stared into the red eyes of the monster that was smiling at them as if they'd be next, and as if waking up from a nightmare they screamed and tried to run out of the house but were pushed into the office and heard the click of the door being locked.
      "Well hello children, sorry you had to see that on your first day. Are these the children you told me about Charles?", he asked in a deep cold voice, causing the children to shiver.
       "Yes Mr Vladimir", Charles answered with his head down to avoid the man's eyes.

      "mmm, you even got twins, and they are exceptionally adorable, so let's get to know each other shall we, my name is Raphael, what's yours?", he asked looking at the children expectantly. The children just shivered more and clung to each other, on seeing that they wouldn't answer he got annoyed and asked again.
     "What are your names", his eyes flashing from red to their original black color.
     "M..m..my n..name is S..S.. Sylvester, sh..she i..is m..my s..s.sister S..S.. Sylvia a..and m..my youn... younger..ger b..b.brother S.. Steve", Sylvester stuttered fearfully, answering for his siblings so that they wouldn't have to talk to the scary man.
      Smiling at them, with his eyes back to their normal black color he said, "Well Sylvester, I'd like welcome you and your siblings to your new home". With that he looked at the men with his usual cold look and said, "Take them to the branding room, it's time we welcome them into the family and do it properly this time, I don't want a repeat of what happened last time, I'd hate to kill you both for a silly mistake, don't you agree?". A shudder passed through the two men being addressed as they were quick to reassure him of making no mistakes whatsoever. 
      "Good, now you may leave and tell someone to come clear this mess, I'm going out for a meeting", with that he walked out causing the two men to sigh in relief.
       "Come on, we need to hurry before he comes back", Jones said as he lead them towards a room at the other end of the hall.
