In the Northern Lands of Tiber, there have existed six kingdoms for generations. These kingdoms were once united under an empire, but those days have long since faded into the annals of history. Even the name of the once great empire has been forgotten by mortal man. However, it is said that one day, the empire will be resurrected when a champion manages to overthrow the very heavens themselves.

While Kraftvoll was climbing upward the Mt. Verrater while he was riding at his shadow familiar's back, the battles in the lower part of the mountain were started to get more frequent as more batches started to join the fray.
Almost all of the first graders, except those who represented their class in the two previous competitions, were already eliminated from the Battle Royale competition. Now, it was only a matter of time before the other first graders get eliminated as well.
The first to be eliminated among the representatives of the first graders was Aredhel. It was truly unfortunate for her because she was found out by one of the sixth graders who just entered the mountain.
She tried to escape and resist the might of that senior of hers that she faced. In the end, her current strength was not enough to defeat or even escape the senior who attacked her so she was defeated by the hands of the seniors that just entered the fray.
Meanwhile, the other remaining representatives of the first graders managed to defeat some of the opponents they had encountered in the Battle Royale competition. Some of them also managed to find a place where they can hide properly from the incoming enemies.
While everyone was busy surviving at the lower part of the mountain, Kraftvoll managed to find another hiding place in the upper part of the mountain. 
He regained some of the inner seishin that he lost earlier but it was not enough for him to be able to fight at full capacity so he sought a better hiding place than his previous hiding place. Coincidentally, he found another cave but this was even harder to find than the previous one.
'Yes! I must replenish the inner seishin essences that I used earlier so that I can continue my hunt in the competition.' he thought to himself. 
A moment later, Kraftvoll decided to get off his shadow familiar so that he will be able to see the hiding spot that he had found. Before entering, Kraftvoll decided to start chanting a seishin spell to make sure the cave doesn't have anyone there.
He chanted, "Oh ye who represents the breath of the world, give me the ability to feel the world, Wind Scan!"
Green seishin essences started gathering around Kraftvoll when he started chanting. One by one, those green seishin essences started to fuse in Kraftvoll's body which gave him the ability to sense using the air in the surrounding temporarily.
After conjuring that seishin spell, Kraftvoll did not feel any presence inside the cave when he used that seishin spell. That's why he thought that it was okay to enter and use this cave to hide for a while.
When he stepped on a puddle using his right foot, it immediately crawled to his right leg then it suddenly froze.
"What is this!? Crap!" he shouted after his left foot and leg suddenly froze. 
After Kraftvoll stepped on that puddle and it froze his left leg and foot, the rubble of rocks and pebbles suddenly collapsed.
A moment later after the rubbles suddenly collapse, a young human lady immediately came out of it shortly. "It seemed like someone fell into my trap!" said the one who just came out with a smile.
The young lady who just came out managed to be undetected to Kraftvoll because she used a concealing seishin spell from the element of earth to hide from her enemies and their detention seishin skills.
She was a sixteen-year-old young lady from the sixth grade of the Verrater Academy. She was also one of the members of the three-man team of the sixth grade. Unfortunately for her team, they lost to the team of the seventh grade which fought with the eighth grade and the tenth grade in the tripartite match of that competition.
Her appearance exudes a sophisticated look of a lady but her actions say otherwise. She naughtily said, "Who's the lucky person who caught in the trap I set up?"
When she gazed toward where Kraftvoll was standing. She was a little shocked after seeing Kraftvoll's face.
Earlier, during the three-man competition, since her team lost their first match right away, she was able to watch the next matches after her wounds were healed by one of the great healers of the academy.
During those fights, she didn't mind those first graders who won against the team of the second graders. But when those first graders managed to win against those representatives of the fourth grade, she was very surprised to her core.
It definitely shocked her when Kraftvoll and the others managed to win against those students three years older than they were. The one who mainly responsible for it was Kraftvoll which was why Kraftvoll left an impression on her.
"You belonged to that team of first grade that managed to enter the finals, aren't you?" she said as soon as she recognized Kraftvoll.
Kraftvoll didn't say anything in response. Instead, Kraftvoll tried to give a command to his shadow familiar to do something for him. "Attack her!" he commanded to his shadow familiar which the shadow familiar immediately followed.
Kraftvoll's shadow familiar charged toward the young lady. In response to this, the young lady, who managed to entrap Kraftvoll with a, decided to fall back. She decided to run toward the inner part of the cave.
The shadow familiar that Kraftvoll had summoned quickly pursued the enemy as his master commanded him to.
The shadow familiar didn't reach that young lady right away because she used a seishin spell of the element of the wind to boost her speed and mobility earlier even before Kraftvoll entered the cave. Her speed surpassed that of the shadow familiar's so it was unable to catch up to her.
While his shadow familiar was chasing his enemy, Kraftvoll decided to cast a seishin spell to remove the effect of the enemy's trap.
He started saying his chant. "I command thee, ye who constitute strength, let your passion burn the world to its roots, Blaze Overload!"

"Here's a map with the buildings, subjects, and teachers. Do take care to pick your teachers wisely because although you have a set schedule, you decide which teachers you get assigned to and for which classes. 

Nice job by the way on exiting into my office, whether it was a coincidence or not makes no difference to me. Sometimes luck is an ability. You better get a move on as the other students will be starting to figure this out". 

"Thanks Headmaster", says Marconi, he makes an internal note to thank his dad, otherwise he might be stuck in a classroom with an old boring geezer teaching him math. 

Marconi rushes towards the math building across campus on the map, he's starting to see the groups of students exiting the auditorium and he tries to keep a low profile as he heads to the classrooms. 

The other students are running blindly wondering what their schedule is about. They know they need to head to class but the lack of time or teachers confuses them. However, at the bottom of the schedule it says first come, first serve. All the students are off to the races. 

Marconi sees stars next to certain teachers on his map and decides to enter an advanced math classroom with a star on it. Already there are a few students, most of them are 7th and 8th graders who already know the drill, but there are some sixth graders who got some maps as well. 2 minutes later a few more 6th graders enter the room and the teacher comes in and locks the door. He sees a lot of students running by as they can't seem to find a classroom that is unlocked. 

The P.A system turn on and says, "all students who didn't find a classroom report to the auditorium, remedial and general classes will be commenced in 2 minutes". 

A large teacher with sunken eyes sits at a desk. Although his eyes are wide and cold, there lies a spark of intelligence behind those eyes. He has a short bland crew cut and side burns with a decently large chin. He then proceeds to gets out of his seat and walks up to the front of the classroom 

"Welcome all, most of you 7th and 8th graders are stuck with me because of unfortunate circumstances of last year. To you lucky 6th graders, congratulations you found a class to teach you. I'll quickly go over orientation and some information about this school. 

My name is Mr. Munch, I am a previous university teacher whose been brought here by the headmaster. This is a wonderful school is where you can take hold of many opportunities, however resources are scarce. If you look at the schedule, notice the lack of time and teachers. 

In this school you get to pick which teachers and for how long you want to learn. But be careful at certain times if you've been out of a classroom for too long or the classes are filled up you'll have to go to the auditorium where they teach general classes. Learning is ok over there but it's still slow. It's best to get a classroom and the quality of professors differ. 

I'm well liked by all grades, however don't make me cross otherwise you'll be stuck in here just like some of the 7th and 8th graders. Our school graduation requirements for both your current grade and school are based on a final exam followed by the total amount of time spent in a classroom and basic courses taken. 

You can take more classes, but don't go under otherwise you'll be held back. The requirements change every year based on the headmaster, and you'll get an email about this later. 

Anyway that's it for the basic info about the school. You sixth graders are lucky to get this information, so hold onto it, because information is power". 

Then Mr. Munch proceeded to go over the class syllabus, how we'll be using the textbook he assigned, expectations, grading, and supplies. 

"I'll be letting you out early so you can find your next class, but remember you are dictating your own classes, teachers and time. You may decide to switch teachers, classes, shorten or lengthen time, but the decision is all in your hands except for the order. If you wish to change the order, you'll have to give a reasonable excuse to the school counselor, get it signed by the headmaster, and fulfill their tasks. 

My advice is just don't, unless your stuck in a group of monsters and it's your last and final option. Anyway class dismissed, 7th and 8th graders stay here." 

Marconi hears a simultaneous groan and heads off to his next class.

Honestly, don't expect me to constantly update this to often as it is a side project of mine. Suggestions are appreciated.

This is a fan-fiction of the middle school life of a boy named Marconi. Nothing special, no cultivation, just a regular school story with some cool fictional elements. How many references can you catch? I have approximately 30 within the first 12 chapters.

By now, Linley had nearly reached the peak of the second rank for warriors. Given that the strength of an ordinary warrior of the first rank was enough to raise a hundred pounds, a warrior of the second rank could casually throw about hundred pound objects.

“You…cough…cough…” Holding his throat, Rand coughed a few times, and then stared furiously at Linley. “You…you actually…”

“Yeah!” Yale suddenly shouted loudly, his face filled with excitement. “That felt so good. Third bro, I didn’t expect you to be as strong as that!”

“That kid is pretty small, but he is so strong…”

Those magi of the fifth and sixth ranks were all astonished. There were some magus instructors in the hotel as well, and all of them were staring at Linley with surprise.

A kid who appeared to be perhaps twelve or thirteen years old was able to casually toss a 90 pound person with one hand.

And this youth was a magus!

“Hey, Rand, weren’t you bragging about how you were number one amongst the first graders?” Yale mocked.

Rand’s face went red, as his heart was filled with fury and shame. Staring at Linley, he shouted fiercely, “You, are you a magus? If you have the skills, compete with me using magic. What sort of behavior was that? A noble magus actually used the lowly skills of a warrior.” Rand was filled with anger and humiliation. He had just won the yearly tournament for the first graders, but just now, when Linley seized him by the throat and hoisted him up, he had been filled with the terrifying sense that his life was in the hands of another.

“Right, if you have the skills, compete using magic! Are you even a student of the Ernst Institute?” Rand’s nearby friends immediately called out in support.

But towards Linley, the four of them felt some dread in their hearts. Linley’s astonishing display of strength just now had shocked them.

“Magic?”

Reynolds immediately began to laugh loudly, as he said arrogantly, “Rand, do you actually believe that just because you won the first grade tournament, you really are the strongest amongst the first graders? Dream on. The number one first grader is our dorm’s third bro. You? Step off to the side.”

“Third bro, show’m a bit of your power.” Yale urged as well.

George had just been yelled at by Rand, so right now, he was in no mood to give Rand any face either. “Rand, let me tell you something. Know your own limits. Many of the experts in our school simply don’t deign to participate in the yearly tournament. Don’t really believe that you are something special.”

Rand’s face grew uglier and uglier.

“You’ll know the truth upon dueling. Rand, compete with them.” Those fifth and sixth grade students called out laughingly. They viewed the struggles of the first graders as nothing more than an amusing diversion.

Rand was just ten years old, after all, and had been called a genius since he was little.

Even at the Ernst Institute, he was amongst the top tier. When had he ever suffered such humiliation?

“Number one?” Rand ground out. “Number one isn’t something that is simply proclaimed. It comes through competition. If you have the ability, then come duel with me.” Rand was very confident in his magical ability. After all, he had won the yearly tournament for first graders.”

“Hey, why isn’t the manager of this hotel coming in to calm things down?” Some of the onlookers felt surprised and curious about this.

In fact, the Huadeli hotel manager was standing far away, but he didn’t want to interfere.

Because he recognized these students.

Even aside from the fact that these were students from the Ernst Institute, based on the status of these students, he didn’t want to anger them. Especially…Yale.

“Young master Yale is here? Ugh. Forget it. He can do as he wishes. Even if he smashes the entire hotel, it’s none of my business.” The hotel manager rubbed and shook his head helplessly. He couldn’t dare to offend young master Yale.

And upon entering the Ernst Institute, Yale’s status amongst his family had only increased even more.

“Well spoken. Number one isn’t self-proclaimed. It’s won.” Linley stood up as well, his face cold as he stared at Rand. “Rand, if we are going to engage in a magical duel, let’s make it exciting. If you win, when I see you in the future, I’ll have to take the long way and avoid crossing paths with you. If I win, you need to do the same.”

Rand couldn’t help but sneer, “You call that exciting? When the loser meets the winner, not only does he have to take the long way around, he also has to give a hundred gold coins. How about that?”

Linley frowned.

A hundred gold coins?

He only had a hundred gold coins each year for living expenses. He wasn’t rich like some people.

“Haha! Rand, just a hundred gold coins? Aren’t you embarassed, saying such a number? How about this. Loser pays ten thousand gold. Deal?” The nearby Yale said loudly.

“Ten thousand gold?”

Upon hearing these words, many students in the hotel sucked in a cold breath. Ten thousand gold coins was not a small sum. There were perhaps only a very few number of students in the hotel who could so casually, calmly bring out such a large sum.

“Ten thousand gold?” Rand couldn’t help but feel his heart shake.

Although his clan was a large one, each year, he only received three thousand gold in living expenses. He didn’t come spend money at the Huadeli Hotel every day. Today, he only came to celebrate him and Rickson becoming the number one and number three victors of the tournament.

“Haha, don’t have the balls?” Yale pulled out a magicard, waving it around as he spoke.

“Rand, agree to him.” Rickson said. “We four bros should be able to pool together ten thousand gold coins. I refuse to believe that this little punk who came out of nowhere can be a match for you.”

Rand and his three bros glanced at each other.

“Fine! Ten thousand gold it is!”

Rand said loudly, and then sneered towards Linley, “Let’s go. This place is too small. We’ll go to the arena where the tournament was held. If you have courage, follow me!” After speaking, Rand arrogantly left the hotel, and his three bros followed him.

“Let’s go.” Yale’s eyes were shining.

Reynolds and George were also excited. Linley nodded as well as he calmly chuckled, “Someone wants to give us ten thousand gold? How can we refuse?”

Linley, Yale, Reynolds, and George all left the hotel as well, directly heading for the arena.

The entire hotel was now in an uproar. A duel with a ten thousand gold coin wager on it was rarely seen, even by sixth grade students. And what’s more, of the duelists, one was the person who had just won the yearly tournament for first graders, Rand, and one was a mysterious kid that no one knew.

Immediately, many people paid their tabs and headed off in that direction as well.

The arena floor was made of limestone and extremely sturdy.

Right now, Rand and Linley were each standing on a separate side of an arena dueling area.

Beneath the upraised dueling area was a large group of people. After all, this was dinnertime, so on the way here from the Huadeli Hotel, one person became ten, and ten became a hundred. In a short period of time, a large group of people had been gathered. This exciting duel with a ten thousand gold wager was more than enough to attract many onlookers.

Seeing how many people had come and how noisy it had become, a look of confidence appeared on Rand’s face.

“Today, I am going to engage in a magical duel with this kid Linley, with the loser paying ten thousand gold coins and having to avoid the other in the future. Everyone, please be my witnesses.” Rand said. He enjoyed the feeling of being watched by many. He didn’t suffer from any stage fright at all.

Immediately, many cheers exploded from below. During the yearly tournament, Rand had many supporters, while in contrast, very few people were supporting Linley.

But Linley just stood there on the dueling area quietly.

“Said enough?” Linley said calmly.

Rand smiled arrogantly. “Let’s go.”

Rand and Linley almost simultaneously began to chant the words to a spell. As both were magi of the second rank, the spells they used were all of the first and second rank and were easy to cast, requiring just a word or two.

“Whoosh!”

Seven sharp blades of wind sprang into existence, slicing directly towards Rand.

“A magus of the second rank?” The experienced onlookers could immediately tell.

But Rand had released a spell at the same time, and five balls of dull red flame shot towards Linley as well. The blades of wind were much faster than the fireballs, however, and Rand was forced to dodge in a rather sorry fashion. But Linley casually and effectively sidestepped the fireballs. And, while doing so, Linley’s lips continued to move as he executed his second spell.

Earth style magic – Earth Tremor!

“Rumble….”

Rand felt the limestone beneath his feet begin to tremble violently. Under these circumstances, Rand couldn’t focus enough to chant any spells. Immediately afterwards, Linley released his third spell, and five fists of earthen-colored stone shot out rapidly towards him.

Rand couldn’t even maintain his footing on the shaking earth. He just barely dodged two of the stones.

“Thud.”

One stone smashed into Rand’s stomach, immediately causing him to vomit fresh blood. Rand hurriedly used his arms to cover his chest. Two more striking sounds were heard, and Rand was directly thrown off the dueling area, his entire body covered with dust.

Magic duel, Linley, victorious!

Linley calmly glanced at Rand once. Linley was very clear about the attack he had just used. With just a month’s recovery time at most, Rand would be fine. If he, Linley, had decided to be merciless, he could have directed the stones at Rand’s head and most likely finished him.

“A dual-element magus of the second rank. We have such an expert amongst us first graders?”

The onlooking first graders called out, astonished. For a second rank magus to appear amongst the first graders was a rare event, much less a dual-element magus, who would be the absolute strongest amongst them.

“This kid controlled his mageforce very precisely, and his body movements were very nimble.”

Some of the fifth and sixth graders were a bit surprised. Just now, when facing the fireballs, Linley had been able to dodge while continuing to chant the words to a spell. From this one could tell how agile Linley was.

“Haha, Rand, did you really think you were number one? Our dorm’s third bro, just using magic, is still able to easily trample you.” Yale laughed loudly.

“Cough, cough.” Rand stood up, clutching his chest.

Rand knew in his heart that just then, Linley had shown mercy.

“Yale, tomorrow, bring Linley. I’ll go with you to the Golden Bank of the Four Empires local branch to transfer money. Ten thousand golds. I’ll keep my word.” Rand took a long look at the distant Linley. This defeat at Linley’s hands had totally woken Rand up from the arrogant haze of being a genius.

Even if one was talented, if one wasn’t strong enough, he would still be defeated by others!

“Linley, thank you!” Rand said, bowing, causing Yale and others to be startled. And then, Rand stared at Linley and said resolutely, “But there will come a day when I will defeat you.”

And then Rand, still clutching his chest, left with the help of his bros, returning to his own residence.

“Linley, you are too awesome. You won your bros a lot of face!” Reynolds immediately ran over and embraced Linley, who had stepped down.

Linley glanced around.

Many people were now staring at him and discussing him. Most of the talented people at the Ernst Institute had become well-known already. Nobody expected such an individual to appear out of nowhere amongst the first graders and easily defeat Rand, the tournament champion.

“Hi Linley, my name is Danni [Dan’ni], a water magus of the first rank. I’m glad to meet you.” Immediately, a golden-haired girl with a tall, slender figure walked over and said to Linley with a smile.

“Hi, my name is Linley.” Linley didn’t have the habit of talking to strangers much. “Sorry, I’m going to go train and enter the meditative trance now.”

After speaking, Linley glanced expressively at his three bros. Yale and the others knew what he was thinking, and immediately, the four bros ignored everyone around them and departed, leaving behind that young lady, Danni, who frowned unhappily.

I couldn't help but feel anxious as I made my way toward the crowded entrance of my middle school. For some reason I could feel it in the air that something about today was off. It was probably because I just came back from suspension, and the teachers might punish me with tests and overdo home work. 
"So how was your suspension?" Mike asked me. Mike was your average, scrawny eleven year old boy. He wore almost the same outfit every week and is considered a nerd. No one understood why I hung out with him. I guess I didn't even understand it myself.

"Same as always I guess." 

"School has been a lot more peaceful without you around," he continued. He kept talking, but I ignored whatever he said. Anything he say was almost never important unless it was about school work. I always needed his help with that.
"Oh yeah, and did I mention that Jade is going out with Johnathan now?"


For some reason that caught me off guard. Mike seemed to notice it too. "So what of it?" I replied back. "None of my business anyway."


"Yeah but Johnathan was your boy," Mike continued, "I just thought that it's a little messed up that he's dating her. Especially when he knows how you feel."

"Shut up," I told him. "You know I don't like Jade. Just because her and I always fight doesn't mean others aren't allowed to date her. Anyway, she's usually the reason that I get suspended. I couldn't care less who goes out with her."

I wasn't trying to, but I knew that I hurt Mike feelings. Damn, what a softy. What did I have to hang out with him for? I did feel kind of bad though. "Hey, sorry I told you to shut up bro. I didn't mean it like that."

"It's ok," he replied back.

"Hey do you have the water balloons I told you to get?"

"Yeah," he replied back. "Don't you think that this is little immature?"

"That's why she won't see it coming?"

We were almost near the entrance of the school when I spotted her. Like always she was surrounded by her group of followers.

"Hey Jacky," she waved at me.

I stuck up my middle finger and kept on walking. Yeah that was the Jade Moon. Long black curly hair and bright emerald eyes. No wonder she was the prettiest girl in the school. I got sick of looking at her though. Okay maybe that was a lie. She changed every year, but I've known her since we were in preschool. She has always been annoying.

The cafeteria was the worst thing about this school if you asked me. The eighth graders thought they ruled the whole school. They got a whole section to themselves while we had to share the other half with the seventh graders. They were about as happy as we were about that. All because the eighth graders were going to high school next year and are going to be at the bottom of the food chain again, they want to take advantage of being on top while they still can.

I didn't care one bit. I had a permanent seat at the eighth grade table and they weren't going do anything about it.

"Hey Jack where do you think you're going?" I looked over to see who said that and wasn't surprised to see Eddy and his boys. "Hey didn't you hear me? Where do you think you're going?"

"Put a sock in it," I stuck up my middle finger at him.

Eddy was the perfect example of an eighth grader. He could never learn his lesson though. I already fought him once. That was the second week of school when he tried to stop me from sitting at an eighth grade table. I learned that upperclassmen hate to be outdone by lower class-men; especially by a sixth grader who was fresh out of elementary school.

When I took a seat at an eighth grade table a couple of others kids followed. Mostly seventh graders but there were some sixth graders too. "You pretty much run this school Jack," one of the kids said. "Good to have you back bro," another one said. "Yeah it sucked sitting at the other side while you were gone."

There were only two sixth graders in this school that had the rights to sit at an eighth grade table.

One of them was Jade and the other was me. Jade got to sit there because everyone in the school loved her. I got to sit here because I bullied my way to the top. I was as tall as most of the eighth graders, and that's pretty tall for a kid who's only twelve years old.

Height wasn't the only reason why I'm on top. After a few fights everyone stopped looking at me the wrong way. A few eighth graders learned the hard way when they tried to order me around.

"Yo Jack! You know we have a test in second period today," Jose said.

"Hey Mike you think you can take a picture of your test for me to copy since you have him first period?" I asked.

"Sure!" Mike replied.

For some reason something didn't felt right, but I didn't know what it was.

First period was the same as any other day. The history teacher was still on the civil war. I would've thought they'd be done by now. Some kids were asleep while most paid attention.
I was about to close my eyes and rest when an alarming sound rang in my ears. I stood up screaming. Everyone watched me like a total idiot.

"Mr. Star, is there a problem?" the teacher asked.

"Um no sir," I replied having felt completely idiotic. Why did I just screamed? I'm sure I heard a bell ringing. It sounded like the fire alarm. I decided to rest my head on the table a little bit. There it was again. The sound was louder this time. I decided to cover my ears. Then someone violently shook my shoulders. I stood up ready to punch whoever it was in the face.

"Dude get up! There's a fire in the school," someone yelled. I looked around to see the teacher trying to calmly lead everyone out the door. Everyone was violently pushing and shoving. This was nothing like the fire drill. It seemed like everyone forgot what to do. Even the honor kids that followed all the rules were violently pushing and shoving.



Somehow I managed to get out of the school. I stood on the side walk and watched as more people came out. The school really was on fire. Smoke was filling the air and you could tell that it was coming from the cafeteria. The teachers were desperately trying to calm everyone down but to no prevail.

One girl ran toward me shouting something. I chose to ignore it knowing it's probably nothing important. She grabbed my hand and shook it violently.

"What!" I jerked my hand away from her.

She was trying to catch her breath. "Jade is stuck in the first floor bathroom," she said shoving the phone in my face.

"What?" 

"Didn't you hear me? Jade is trapped in the first floor bathroom!"

I didn't even consider to take this in, and before I knew it my feet started moving on their own. I ran towards the entrance of the school. I knew exactly where the girl's first floor bathroom was. It was across from the school cafeteria.

The closer I got to the bathroom the worse it was. I already had to slip by two teachers that told me to turn back around. My vision was becoming blurry and I was running out of oxygen. The bathroom door was literally on fire. There were no way for me to get near it.

"Jade!" I yelled. "Are you there?"

"Jack is that you?" someone called back in a hoarse voice.

"Yeah Jade it's me," I replied back.

She started to cough hard. I can tell she was having a hard time breathing. So was I, but there was no way to get to the door. "Listen Jade I need you to open the door!"

"I can't, the handle is too hot," she replied back.

"For crying out loud you're in a bathroom, wet a bunch of paper towels!"

I heard the water running. We was also running out of time. I'm surprised that she hadn't passed out from lack of oxygen. I don't think I can last another minute of this.

The bathroom door opened and there was Jade on the other side. She looked tired and was about to collapsed any moment now. Without even thinking I jumped through the fire grabbing Jade and knocking her down to the floor along with me.

"What was that for?" asked Jade.

"That was me rescuing you," I replied barely being able to breathe.

"No that was you getting yourself trapped in here along with me," she replied. "You're not very good at this rescue thing."

There was too much pain in my chest. I couldn't breathe anymore. This must be what having an asthma attack felt like.

"Jack are you alright?" Jade asked me. She started to scream and shook me. Her voice was faded to the point where her mouth was moving, but I couldn't hear a word she was saying.

Was this the end for me? For us? No! I know that it's too early for me to die here. But, I could feel myself slowly fading away. I was even seeing things. There was a light, but it wasn't far away; it was close. A figure stepped out of it.

I felt myself lifting off the ground. The light was getting closer, or maybe it was I who was getting closer to the light.

Jack is caught in a school fire when he tried to save Jade's life. He is saved by a being that calls itself Shadow. Shadow saved them for a reason and now they must pay him back. 

Jack and Jade must travel through dimensions and find the Five Ancient Scrolls to save their world and countless others if they want to return back home. Finding the scrolls is easy enough but getting it back is a problem on it's own. The Scrolls gives whoever has it unspeakable powers. They must get back all the Scrolls before the Galaxy is put into Chaos.

Their first stop is in a world where three major empires is constantly at war with one another over a strange power that recently appeared. No doubt, it had something to do with the scrolls. With many obstacles directing them from their goal will they ever finish it or will they die in an unknown world?

After being diagnosed with leukemia, Li Xiao Lan abruptly resigned from her work. She was admitted to the ICU to receive the timely treatments arranged by the hospital. Chen Jin came to visit her at the hospital as well. He claimed to be a friend of the patient and learned about her situation from the doctors.

Besides, Xiao Lan discovered her sickness early, so her chance of getting cured is even higher." In the recent 20 years, with rapid progress in molecular biology and biogenetics, the patients of leukemia that were deemed as "incurable" in the past could now have their lifespan significantly elongated with little to no issues. Leukemia had become less scary than it used to be.
"I know." Su Yun nodded. She lowered her voice and spoke to him quietly, "The doctors told me the same thing. But Xiao Lan's family is more or less the same as mine, they are not very wealthy. To cure her sickness completely, she would need at least a few treatments that would cost her millions of dollars… our unit has recently begun to fundraise for her. Our director gave 10,000 dollars to Xiao Lan's parents just yesterday… but it was like trying to extinguish a cartload of firewood on fire with one cup of water. I don't know whether Xiao Lan's family can afford the treatment."
"Don't worry about money.
