I already introduced what you should watch out for when doing your story's introduction in previous articles. Still, people keep asking me for further advice, so I might as well add some additional pointers in this article.

The questions I've been asked have all sorts of topics, such as "Does the first three chapters of my novel need to have a cheat?", "Does the beginning of a modern story need to have a conflict in the beginning?", "Is it alright for me to write a suspenseful beginning for a xuanhuan story?" and so on. Actually, when you think about it carefully, all these questions are the same question at its core. And so, the answer to all these questions is the exact same.

Actually, no matter what type or genre of story you have, the beginning has two major responsibilities. The first is to introduce your story, and the second is to attract readers.

There's really nothing much that needs to be said about the first responsibility. Now then, the second responsibility of your beginning is what all authors need to think about. Every single theory, method, and technique begins from this point.

So, this type of question can actually be answered the same way every time – Is the beginning interesting? Thrilling? Will it attract readers?

If the answer is yes, then it's a good beginning. If the answer is no, then it's a bad beginning.

For example, if you're asking whether or not to have a cheat power appear in the first three chapters of your novel, we should analyze if the main element attracting readers to your novel is the cheat in question or not. If you don't have it in the first three chapters, will the beginning still attract readers? The answer should be obvious. In that case, we can come to a conclusion that it's not absolutely necessary to have a cheat in your first three chapters, as long as there's other elements that can attract readers to your story, your beginning should be perfectly fine. And if the main attraction of your novel is the cheat power, then using it in the first three chapters to attract readers is an acceptable solution as well.

To use another example question, the one regarding whether it's alright to have a suspenseful beginning for a xuanhuan story, we can answer it this way: "Is suspense what your readers are here for? Is the suspense sufficiently appealing to help retain readers?" If the answers to these questions are yes, then your beginning is perfectly fine.

All such questions about the beginning of your story can be answered in this fashion. We can all actually resolve our own doubts by asking ourselves.

Actually, there's so many possible beginnings for webnovels. You can use an extremely repetitive cliché, or you can try coming up with a brand-new type of beginning that nobody has ever used before. Of course, no matter what type of beginning you try, there's one huge prerequisite – it needs to be interesting.

Obviously, in order to fulfill the requirement of being interesting, the more unique your beginning is, the better. Still, please remember that you absolutely can't neglect the prerequisite of being interesting. You can't just try to make an original a beginning as possible; you must first ensure that your beginning is interesting to readers.

If you as an author lack the ability to come up with something original that is also interesting, or if you actually lack the ability to judge whether your own beginning is interesting or not, then no matter if it's "Having a cheat power in the first three chapters," "Starting off with a conflict right at the beginning," or "Chapter 1 – Breaking the engagement, Chapter 2 – Leveling up, Chapter 3 – Face slapping", these clichés and experiences become incredibly important.

These are all frameworks created by authors that came before us. These frameworks aren't meant to restrain our writing, and there's no need to follow these frameworks to the letter. These frameworks are just like training wheels that young children use when learning how to ride a bicycle. They can help us to ride steadily when we still don't know how to bike, but who still needs training wheels after we become older?

For these frameworks, or perhaps I should call them clichés, we should assess them logically without needing to worship them as divine or seeing them as eternal unchanging maxims. Nor is there a need for us to look down on clichés or loathe using them.

We should simply treat clichés as tools to be used if we wish it. If these clichés and experiences are useful to us, then we can try using them. If not, then just simply leave them aside.

I believe that should be the best writing mentality of all.

Su Yan paused and his lips twitched. Did the system want to tell him that a beginning that wasn't perfect would make his whole novel pointless? Wasn't this too vicious?! The readers should give him some time to show off!
Unfortunately, the Lovely Writing System didn't share his opinion. Grumbling, he clicked for the next part.
[In the beginning, you should present your protagonist and the world he lives in. What is the name of your protagonist and why should the readers care about him? What else should they know about him? Is it important whether he is a human or rather part of another race? And does he live in the world we know, in a parallel version with another history or maybe in our world but several years in the future?]
Su Yan blinked. Mn? He already had all this! The robes and the talk about cultivators should tell the readers about the world the protagonist lived in and as for the protagonist himself …
Damn! He hadn't mentioned that his protagonist was human. But then again … wasn't that obvious? After all, the ones who became part of a sect were human in most cases. Maybe there would be some who weren't totally human but those were exceptions.
So, all in all, Su Yan felt like he had pretty much fulfilled this first point. How come his scene was still too short then? Had he done something else wrong? He frowned and read further.
[If possible, you might include hints regarding the future development of your story. Are gay relationships frowned upon in the protagonist's world or is gay marriage allowed and even common? Might your protagonist already be in a relationship?
This might also be a good opportunity to introduce the problem your protagonist will face. What stands between him and his happiness with the male lead? What holds them back from being together just yet? The readers should know who or what is opposing them so they know what to expect for the rest of the story.]
"Oh!" Su Yan straightened up.
So he was supposed to include the problem between his main characters! This …
He frowned. No, wait. This made no sense at all! Don't even speak about falling in love and having problems, the male lead hadn't even appeared yet! How was he supposed to bring up problems?
Su Yan frowned even more. This was absolutely impossible. The problem between the two of them would be that Ziju An was Dou Fang Hai's master and that society frowned upon a relationship in such a situation. But right now they weren't master and disciple and Dou Fang Hai was just a small brat. How could he bring their problem up like this?
All the so-called hints the system had shown him since opening this practice task were either completely generic or some shit he couldn't use at all. Why had his system suddenly gotten so useless? Weren't its tips normally better?!
Su Yan shook his head and clicked for the next part in a bad mood.

Su Yan wanted to click for the next part but there actually wasn't one. Instead, the system gave him two other choices: He could either get [Further information] or [Go back to the menu]. He pursed his lips and clicked on the second one.
Sure, he could have a look at some more information but he felt like that wouldn't be of too much use. It would be better to put to use what he had read just now. After all, he already knew now that he had a fifth of the novel's length to establish all these things.
Mn … That should be … Su Yan frowned. How was he supposed to know how much a fifth was?! After all, the system hadn't given him a chapter limit for this story! It really was bullying him this time!

At last we've come to the end of Skyfire Avenue. Frankly speaking there was a lot in this novel I wanted to write for myself. My favorite part was the beginning, but many of my dear readers expressed a lack of understanding. Later I changed direction and focused more on conflict and combat. This book was an experiment, with the beginning following more of a novella-type arrangement. I truly enjoyed the world of Skyfire Avenue and the people in it. I'm curious who you liked best.
Readers who are familiar with me will know that my works are seamlessly connected. In some ways I'm disappointed with where this novel ended – there was a lot I didn't exactly agree with. However, it is time to put the novel to rest. Perhaps when I have matured I will revisit it and make some modifications, and add some things I feel it needs.
It was my hope, when I started writing Skyfire Avenue, that I might be able to teach my readers about some of the finer points of etiquette and high culture. I fear I wasn't very successful. As you continue to make your way through like you will encounter more of the things we discussed in the novel and then you will understand. I was very meticulous in my research, and much of what I described you can find today.
I find myself conflicted. Skyfire Avenue has been completed, so what will the next project be? I suspect many of my readers already know. It's a project that's been brewing in my mind, that I've been preparing for, for a long time. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when I tell you it is part three of the Dou Luo Da Lu series, <>.
 
Readers of the previous novels and its peripheral works will be able to guess some of its content. The Dou Luo Da Lu series is undoubtedly my favorite to work on, and now it's time for it to continue its progress. What marvels await us in the third installment? We'll have to wait and see. All I can say is I'll be returning to my roots as a more experienced and mature author. I promise to provide you all a feast for your imagination. I'm sure you all will enjoy <>!

Before RXW approached me with the offer to translate Skyfire Avenue, I had never even read a Chinese novel. My translation experience did not extend past paragraphs of medical texts. I've forgotten precisely when I began working on Skyfire Avenue, but it had been a project that has spanned years. Over that time there have been challenges and triumphs, and I have grown professionally during the course of this novel.
As Tang Jia San Shao expressed above, many of you shared similar concerns about the beginning of this story with readers throughout China. The author was bold in his decision to try something new, which ultimately didn't have the effect he wanted. While there were ups and downs with the path he chose, I think we can agree that it created an engaging world, with multifaceted characters that were fascinating to follow. Tang Jia San Shao's experimentation produced a unique work that I think stands alone in a difficult genre, completely unlike any other translated work. As a whole, while it may have felt tedious from time to time, I feel that the final product would not have been as satisfying if the setting had not been established as the author had chosen.
Where I was as a translator and reader changed throughout the course of the novel. In the beginning I was a novice, translating part-time between classes. I had passion for the prospects ahead and excitement in pursuing a new skill set. I think in some ways that might shine through in the product. Over time, when readers dwindled and I felt more like a burden to my employer, that passion waned. I always strove to make sure that my work was as engaging as I could make it, however, and I think that my ability to understand the intent and 'voice' of the author improved.
 
Now as we close the proverbial book on Skyfire Avenue I hope that all of you enjoyed the journey. Though I did not create the world Lan Jue lived in I did have an opportunity to put my mark on it, and in so doing I've become invested in its reception. If it brought you any measure of joy, if it made a tough day better, if you laughed or scoffed or got teary-eyes than I'm proud I could help bring that to you. - If this article is very tough to understand, then you need to improve your English for at least a few weeks before writing a novel in English. I'm no English expert.

Story Target: 
Know what type of story you are writing before writing it.
- If you plan to make the mc overpowered, or evil(or 'good', but a murderer), go for it but be clear on this at the beginning. 
- If you plan to make someone change their character from good to evil or opposite, it is good to plan this out at the beginning.
- It's exciting for a reader when they think the story is ending, but then the MC goes to a new place for a new adventure, so try and create a vast world to explore with lots of detail, places like seas and mountains. A part of the storyline could be in an underwater/underground kingdom, on a plateau, etc.
- Don't explain the structure of the whole world at the beginning of the book. Have the MC only know a bit about his location, and let the reader learn new things about the world with the MC.
- This is just an extra(it is not a must-have for a good novel, but I like it): Have a well thought out plot. Rather than bad guys sending thugs or hurting innocents while the MC goes around beating them up throughout the novel, plan out a more intricate scheme. I love to read moments when it feels like everything is going wrong, but it was all part of the plan. And this 'plan' shouldn't be some hidden power coming out and saving the day. Try to have characters solve problems by using their heads instead of brute force sometimes too. 

Clearly defined arcs
- Arcs should be well-defined with a beginning and end chapter.
- Arcs should be small(can range from 40 - 200 chapters based on your chapter length and the length of your entire novel). A significant arc can be longer, but the author can divide it into smaller sub-arcs. 
- Each arc should end with the tying up of some loose ends. Leaving too many loose ends(running storylines) could result in the reader losing track
- It's nice to hint some things early in the novel and then have them impact the story later, but only one or two characters(enemies and allies included) should be in this 'hinted' state, or we readers forget about them, which goes against the reason for the hint.
- It is ok to bring in new characters at crucial points in the story(like when the MC is close to death, etc.). However, doing this too much can make the plot armour too strong.

Good English
- Use Grammarly. This is very important. Grammarly is a software that will automatically correct most of your spelling and grammar errors.
- Language(grammar) is important. If your English isn't good, try taking some classes or asking a friend with good English to edit. Grammarly can help a lot here. 
- Sometimes re-reading your chapter helps you find a lot of mistakes(as what happened when I re-read this guide).
- Fluctuate sentences, making some long and some short to avoid exhausting a leader 
- Most sentences should be on the shorter side
- Sentences using conjunctions like 'and' many times are examples of those that could be split up.
- Obviously, follow the basic grammar rules, but also look into some higher-level language guidelines. There are great tips online on how to write well. Take the time to go through these, and try consciously implementing these in your novel.
- Capitalization: Always capitalize the first word of a sentence, and always capitalize the name of anyone or anything. 
- Never capitalize an entire word. Using italics, bold, full stops, commas, new lines, or capitalizing the first letter to emphasize but capitalized words are irritating to read. At most, you can capitalize loud sound effects like BAM! or THUD! but WRITING SENTENCES LIKE THIS IS ANNOYING.
- I'll write it again for emphasis. Use Grammarly. 

Chapter Updates:
- Premium: Charging for chapters is natural, and you deserve it for your work. But, try leaving the first 100 chapters free to get readers interested. Yes, readers might get the gist of your novel in the first five chapters, but they need to be more immersed in your story to spend money. Of course, 100 is an arbitrary number based on the average chapter length I've seen for such novels. If your chapters are longer, naturally, you know best. I would suggest two arcs as a good amount to leave free. 
- The faster, the better is true. The more chapters you release, the happier us readers will be, except if:
-- The rush to release chapters results in subpar chapters. Be careful of the tradeoff. Quality matters. While readers would like fast updates, there's no point if they don't like the novel itself. 
-- For translations, two chapters a day is a great speed. More than that seems sloppy.
-- For originals, 1 chapter a day is the max you should publish(unless your chapters are incredibly short). And even that seems like a lot to me. It takes time to write good stuff, so churning out hundreds of chapters super quick often means its not good work.


Breaking up the chapter into small paragraphs: 
- Leave two lines between paragraphs. This not only makes your novel seem a lot cleaner and easier to read, but it also makes chapters seem way longer ;P. 
- Large paragraphs should be written only when extremely necessary, where you have to describe a single aspect of something in detail. 
Giving someone's background, or explaining some part of the story or logic are not good things to write as big paragraphs. For these, an easy fix is to start a new paragraph every 3-4 sentences. It may seem trivial, but it makes a significant difference while reading.

A guideline for authors who are new to the business, written by a fan and veteran webnovel reader. These tips are what I think shows the basic quality of a novel, apart from its story. 

Recently, lots of originals have been popping up, and I have noticed that while they have great potential and exciting storylines and settings, the good aspects are buried in errors that could easily be corrected.

Authors, please give it a read. Of course, you will have your own thoughts and difficulties following these guidelines, but I feel that by following as many as you can, your novel will be more liked. Thank you!

This is going to be one of those long blogs that I am just dying to get out of my system. First and foremost welcome to the biggest rant of my career involving my two favorite characters. Alright, where do I begin? 
2016: Beginning of A Girl For Her Series
I began this series as a spark from a woman that I had a big crush on for the first two years in my writing career and she was the first straight woman, I was really into like HUGE. She is many reasons behind the beginning of it. The only reason, I like this series because it was a more slow and softer version of what I didn't expect to take a toll on my emotions and the hatred I got. 
Jana and Angel were much more than characters; they were a dream that I wished would of came true between me and this woman but it didn't happen for many reasons. I still adore the series though with Volume 4 coming out in the near future.
2017: Fate Of Her Path Series and A Girl For Her Novel
A darker time when I went under Annora Rose. A Girl For Her Novel is somewhat still popular to this day but it isn't what readers expect for the ending. Fate Of Her Path Series and A Girl For Her Novel are both dark for many reasons one because of the fire that came under me emotionally from being bullied early in my career that is why I ripped out so many books in that name. It wasn't that I wanted to hide who I am because I am proud of who I am and my books. But I don't fully agree to them and readers have disliked them, guess what? I do too because it shows a darker side of myself that has never escaped me before. 
The only series that was supposed to be A Girl For Her Series from 2016 but I went through a downfall like any other Author does when the going gets tough. I will end Fate Of Her Path Series in the near future with Beginning Of Hope but once that is released it is done.
2019: Power Of Love
I have had many readers ask me to make a romantic version of Jana & Angel and make them seem like a happy couple, guess what? I did that plus with real life tribulations and well, now that has back fired because some complain about the kids missing or the story isn't exactly romantic enough or some other excuse that they don't like it. I am going to say this I actually didn't like the book myself, let alone the woman I wrote it for made my character Angel seem stupid on Football when in reality she isn't. I mean I loved that she added it and got to make it a special scene but that wasn't how Angel is supposed to be or well, represent herself. Angel is actually pretty smart and much more believable in the series than the past four books.
Anyways, my point is that Power Of Love isn't supposed to exist at all and now that it does like the other four, I hate them and wish I never bothered with them. The only reason they do is because my books are what I enjoy doing and I work hard for them. 
That is truth and I hope this doesn't make me seem like a bad Author but I will always be favorited towards A Girl For Her Series over anything else out of them. 
With that being said, I am ending this by saying I am going to keep on writing and releasing more books eventually I will be more than seen as an Author that took a wrong turn at one point and moved forward. I am proud of She's My Kind Of Country for 2020 release and Happily Ever After for 2019 release.

A boy that’s forgot his memories and only remember his name and that he was a weeb gets 3 wishes and got transported to a anime world.

After reading all the comments and reviews, I decided to make some things clear for the readers yet to start so they do not get confused. It's probably my writing which was confusing to many. 
First the MC. My MC has a very contradictory personality. It could be said something like a aplit personality but not completely. Of course the MC is cooled blooded and selfish stated in the tag but sometimes does somethinga which are contradictory to it cause he has a goal.This personality is a very important aspect of the story progression, So that is why it is made to confuse the readers a little bit. This is one thing many readers got confused about. Next his looks. The MC background involves his physical appearance and so I had to make it as handsome as I can imagine. And his skills I kept. I made them within human range not trying to go to superhuman capability at the beginning. The MC can't be a chicken and not fight for himself so the abilities were given. 
Next some people think there are plot holes in the story. Like the one I kept in the first 10 chapters. But that was intended. I knew what I was going for and took the risk of keeping it. It wasn't something just to save the people. I kept a few of them like this throughout the story. This was done so they are uncovered slowly as the story progresses. 
Last but not least my writing. I am still a new writer. So a heads up for some mistakes I might have made in the writing which might throw you off. I intend to reread and edit these once again but not now. 
I nade this auxiliary chapter only to ask one thing and it is a bit of patience for this book. I might be asking much but it's a request. If it is hard then you might want to drop the novel as it's a very low paced at the beginning.
