	The Handmaid’s tale is Atwood’s speculative fiction about what would happen if religious fundamentalists who are out to reverse the progresses made by the feminist movement were to take over America and replace the capitalist government with a theocracy of Christian fundamentalist state. 
In Atwood’s dystopia, the trend of viewing women solely in terms of their functions in society is taken to its extreme conclusion in the setting up of women in roles such as handmaids, Aunts, Wives, Marthas, Econowives and so on. Women in an extreme patriarchal society are reduced to mere functions such as Offred’s status as a walking womb in her role solely to breed in a society where environmental disasters have destroyed the fertility of most women and there is a limited number of women to breed for the purpose of perpetuating society. 
She is reduced also to the patronymic name Offred meaning Of Fred because she is solely the property of her commander Fred in the story and her identity as in individual with rights has been erased, a logical conclusion of the current trend to term women solely as Mrs John Atkins and so on.
	While Atwood’s vision of the brutalization of women in extreme patriarchal states might seem unrealistic, it is merely a logical extension of trends today such as viewing women solely as mothers who remain the property of their husbands and whose sole responsibility is to breed and perpetuate the family name. 
According to Atwood thus, the oppression of women and the reduction of women to mere breeding and servile functions in society has its roots in patriarchal and fundamentalist religions such as extreme incarnations of a Christian fundamentalist state which views women solely as the property of men and whose sole functions lie in the domestic sphere.
 As such, June or Offred gets terminated from her job as a librarian and reduced to a mere handmaid whose sole purpose if to breed and get impregnated so that she can perpetuate a sterile society where fertility is limited.
	It is clear in Atwood’s dystopia that women function solely in the society as the servants and property of the men they serve. Hence Offred’s individual name is erased and she is reduced to her function as a handmaid or breeder and she is allowed no private space of her own as even her room has been visited and invaded by the Commander whom she belongs to.Atwood is merely projecting to its logical conclusion trends that are already inherent in current society, such as the view of women as servants of the domestic sphere who should not be allowed to extend their functions beyond the domestic or maternal sphere as extreme Biblical fundamentalists who declared feminists as anti-family heretics were termed in Atwood’s time.
	It is also clear in Atwood’s dystopia that women function merely as the playthings or toys of men, as is shown in the scene where the Commander commands Offred to don a harlot like dress and to visit Jezebel’s, a prostitutes den in which women are reduced to dressing up as sex toys for men to be solely used for their sexual pleasure. The commodification of women as sex objects, sex toys and mere maternal or domestic workers then becomes very clear in Atwood’s dystopian novel.
	Yet if the politics of Atwood’s take is clearly a feminist reaction to dystopian trends in patriarchal society it offers no radical revolutionary solution to this feminist dystopia because the Handmaid’s tale remains a romantic novel in which Offred is rescued by the chivalric Nick whom she has an affair with and who later heroically functions as the knight in shining armour who will arrange her escape.
 So while it is categorically men who are the oppressors in this novel, it is also a romance in which it is a male who comes to the rescue of Offred and liberates her from the Christian theocratic oppression that she suffers. Hence there is no utopian declaration or vision of women who will somehow come to liberate themselves from their male oppression, indeed Atwood’s vision is that while males imprison, they are also the potential liberators or redeemers of women as they can use their Biblical based power inscribed in patriarchy to set women free.
 	Moira who had been a swashbuckling lesbian feminist radical is reduced to a prostitute’s role eventually at Jezebel’s. Hence I would argue that Atwood does not view women as capable of liberating or redeeming themselves from male oppression, instead they remain at the mercies of men to liberate them from their prisons as rescue them from their prisons by using their Biblically inscribed privilege to allow women to extend beyond the circumscribed limits of their patriarchal defined roles in society such as Wives, handmaids and servile breeders of men.
	The tone of Atwood’s dystopia thus remains bleak as it does not view women as capable of conducting their own revolutions of redeeming themselves from their patriarchal imposed prisons in society as the fate of Moira in Jezebels shows. Her rebellion in being a lesbian and separatist from patriarchal society fails as she has no one to redeem her from her fate of being punished for her lesbian separatism in being reduced to a mere sex toy at Jezebel’s. 
She is also described as being defeated and resigned to her fate of being a mere plaything at the hands of men as it is men who wield true power in a Biblical theocracy of patriarchal state. Atwood’s dystopia is thus pessimistic to the end that it offers no radical alternative to patriarchy and indeed declares that while men imprison and oppress it is only the power of men in society which will set women free to move beyond their roles inscribed by patriarchal society as Nick as chivalric hero shows. 
	Women thus remain at the mercy of men for their confinement or liberation and remain dependents on men whichever route they choose to follow, as conformists or rebels against patriarchy, it is only members of the paternal order or men who have the power to confine or liberate them as it were. 
In Offred’s room is the inscription in Latin :Don’t let the bastards grind you down, but it is Offred’s experience, in her games with the Commander and her eventual liberation by Nick, that she remains very much at the mercy of men as patriarchy and Biblical authorities have put men in places of privilege and control to determine the fates of women who serve them.
Atwood also does not dismiss male privilege. She eventually makes it clear that it is the Commander who has allowed Offred to win at the game of scrabble and there is no escaping subordination or biological inferiority to men as woman in the bible was made as a helper and subordinate to Adam and merely to complement Adam as a servant rather than function as an equal. This is made clear in the reduction of women to servile roles as Wives, Marthas, Aunts, Econowives and Handmaids. Females it seems are condemned to serve men in society and as Atwood’s romance has it, they remain at the mercy of men to liberate them from their male imposed prisons. There is thus no escaping male privilege, the female’s choice is merely to negotiate or play within the confines of male power.
This is a reconstruction. All of it is a reconstruction. It’s a construction now, in my head, as I lie flat on my single bed rehearsing what I should or shouldn’t have said, what I should or shouldn’t have done, how I should gave plated it, If I ever get out of here. (Atwood 1985: 144)
It becomes clear from the above quote that Offred is reduced to negotiate with male power and remains solely at the mercy of male power and has to play games within its confines while Atwood seems grim at the possibility of escape from this female dystopia on Offred’s own terms as it is Nick who eventually rescues Offred from the tyranny of the Commander,
Let’s stop there. I intend to get out of here. It can’t last forever. Others have thought such things, in bad times before this, and they were always right, they did get out one way or another, and it didn’t last forever. Although for them it may have lasted all the forever they had. (Atwood, 1985: 144)
It becomes clear that this idea of being forever imprisoned by men is the grim reality for women because of the patriarchal privilege which is delineated for them by the bible. Hence the forever indeed lasts as long as a woman lives, being all the forever they had as it is a metaphysical subordination that woman has been imprisoned by being decreed by God to be Man’s helper and servant and it is only man as such who has the power to liberate woman as Nick does from her role, there is no escape for women on their own terms.
When I get out of here, if I’m ever able to set this down, in any form, even in the form of one voice to another, it will be a reconstruction too, at yet another remove. It’s impossible to say a thing exactly the way it was, because what you say can never be exact, you always have to leave something out, there are too many parts, sides, crosscurrents, nuances, too many gestures, which could mean this or that, too many shapes which can never be fully described, too many flavours, in the air or on the tongue, half colours too many. But if you happen to be a man, sometime in the future, and you’ve made it this far, please remember, you will never be subjected to the temptation of feeling you must forgive a man as a woman. It’s difficult to resist, believe me. But remember that forgiveness too is a power. To beg for it is a power, and to withhold it or bestow it is a power, perhaps the greatest. (Atwood, 1985: 144)
The only power that women hold is thus the written word and testimony as Offred testifies to the brutality that is conducted on her by patriarchal society. The only power she has as a woman is the power to forgive the sins heaped upon her by men who use and abuse her only as a domestic slave and sex toy. The only resistance that Offred has is to withhold or bestow forgiveness and Atwood describes this power to withhold to bestow forgiveness as the greatest power of all, because in history women have been silenced and it has always been His Story, this is Offred’s attempt at reclaiming the narrative and making it Herstory by controlling and regulating the power to withhold or bestow forgiveness of men for their many abuses of her.
 Even in the Bible, it is mentioned that it is the poor in spirit, the poor, the marginalized, the oppressed, the silent that God eventually will have mercy on, so while women experience gender discrimination and oppression in this life, in the afterlife where there is no marriage or distinction into gender roles as angels women may finally experience reprieve from all the injustices they had to suffer on earth as women under the subordination of men.
Or you’d remember stories you’d read, in the newspapers, about women who had been found- often women but sometimes men, or children that was the worst- in ditches or forests or refrigerators in abandoned rented rooms, with their clothes on or off, sexually abused or not, precautions you took that had to do with locks on windows and doors, drawing the curtains, leaving on lights.These things you did were like prayers, you did them and you hopes they would save you.And for the most part they did.
But all of that was pertinent only in the night, and had nothing to do with the  man you loved, at least in daylight. With that man you wanted it to work, to work out. Working out was also something you did to keep your body in shape, for the man. If you worked out enough, maybe the man would too.Maybe you would work it out together, as if the two of you were a puzzle that could be solved, otherwise one of you most likely the man, would go wandering off on a trajectory of his own, taking his addictive body with him and leaving you with bad withdrawal, which you would counteract by exercise.If you didn’t work it out it was because one of you had the wrong attitude.Everything that went on in your life was thought to be due to some positive or negative power from inside your head. (Atwood 1985: 238-239)
Indeed while Atwood describes the man’s departure as the woman’s fault, as the wrong attitude she holds towards the men that makes the man responsible for leaving the woman and not making the relationship work out, it remains that women even in relationships where equality is supposed to happen are at the mercy of men. 
Women are supposed to bear the right or wrong attitude towards men, or the positive or negative power towards men, but it remains the women who must change their attitudes and dance around men’s attitudes whereas men can be entirely indifferent and leave women as they please because the women are not behaving in a manner that pleases them, women are expected to keep fit and work out for men while men can only work out if it pleases them or if they want to, at heart is the absolute power that men hold over women and the double standards at work.
 Women are expected to conform to men’s desire and to meet expectations and work and change to meet expectations, while men can remain static and just hold on to their stubborn desires and withdraw from women and leave them if they do not please them simply because they have the power to do so.
The Handmaid’s Tale is thus about the absolute power that men wield over women in society because of Biblical authority. The world at present remains, patriarchal in its inheritance of Biblical traditions and its inscription of the female as the servant and subordinate of the male because God designated Eve to be Adam’s helper and servant, to be Of Adam rather than Eve. The story is thus an attempt at protesting this absolute tyranny of male privilege over female subordination and oppression.

      " Sir , sir , I am really sorry sir....I didn't do that on purpose...I didn't knew that the patch of land is not ordinary....I never knew it was land of boss's interest . Since it was a  wasted land for 7 years I thought it was one of those company's extra property.

sir please sir, save me I don't want to lose this job I have worked really hard to get here ....... ...... since the day I joined I never asked you for any favour ...please sir help me  this once..please sir."

 A small and pale face with beautiful but puffy eyes with full of tears while sobbing requests to her boss in department.

Ms.Nina Koay a bar graduate and topper in whole nation was a pretty simple and kind lady .She was working here from the 1st year of establishment of the company and was very capable but now if anyone will see her , is definitely going to think that a child how has spoiled her father's office papers is pleading to her mother for help.

The department head is at loss of words he doesn't know how to calm her down, he is in a dilemma that should he scold her for this big mistake of her or pasify her and tell her it's okay because she didn't knew.

Well, he himself doesn't know what next he is going to do??. The land was strictly forbidden and prohibited from industrial and  commercial use . The head boss took it into her territory and it was now her property though it was under company's name but man the company here is her so everything here also belongs to her .

His smart..... no not really smart ....extra smart employs had already given the land permit to the buyer .
The Duchess has a weird though thoughtfull custom in her company, that everyyear on 17th June there will be a charity auction ( that is other thing she never attended it herself) and company and it's employs will donate .

 Miss.Nina was given the responsibility to represent the headquarter of their country A in auction she was too excited and to gain some good words she thought of the land in imperial society at last moment.

It was already auctioned though the buyer refused ownership and asked for association with the cooperation to start a project on land. And that's when the news spread in the cooperation like 🔥 in forest . 
Every one in A country's headquarter heard the news and with same momentum it reach to the 5 branches in different countries.( reached to the ears of the demoness...the worst)

Whole department was terrified even the manager was verge of crying soon they arranged the meeting in conference hall.
Every one was stressed and it was clearly written over their face. Discussion was intense some were still working with left over sanity they had. After all they need to find a solution, the land is important.

A lot of chaos but not didn't lack the professionalism . That was the speciality of this pharmaceutical company 'Professionalism is must no matter what problem or situation is you can't make it a weak point for the company.'
And this was none other than Duchess' quote given to her employs. Though there were hidden words of threat in this so called motivation quote but every person knew they can't offend her.

Ms. Nina was trying hard to get a hold on herself to deal with this matter it was her mistake that she signed an agreement over the land without considering the outcome
.She knew backing off from the contract will bring a lot of a lot humiliation to the company name because they got a lot of public attention due to the auction now they can't back off.

Ms. Nina fought really hard and came with a suggestion"Sir, can't be pursue the man with double amount of money he bought the land"

Everyone in the room was thinking same but due to the company policy that no matter who made the mistake company's money can't be used to cover it up , it was only in head officials' hands though they also had to give a good reason and  explanation thus no one spoke it out.
Hearing her they thought she is right it is the last hope for them because any other will buy them a law suit of breaching a contract at least for next 15 years the land was under other party's direct authority.

" Do u think he is a fool, or do u think I am a fool sitting on the chair of law department's  head . Don't you know he was highest bidder with amount 10 million he is not someone who lacks money 💰.
Miss. Nina I know u are stressed but don't freak out and give me such lame ideas . You one of best in country's law enforcement and I really admire you for your talent don't let me down as your mentor" .

The department head was really disappointed but he also knew she was scared and was blurring out nonsense.

 He looked forward to her bright future this woman with pale face now was the same sharp toughed woman who had won every case she took in . She was smart and willful . But right now you can only imagine what bought terror to such a woman. 
It was all because of that demoness her terror so much that only her name was enough to  make her employs cry.

A thought of her and he was back to reality . He dug all of law books and also gave a try to Miss .Nina's suggestion that he himself rejected a minute before but outcome was no good . His request to change the patch of land ,double amount repayment and all other tactics got very respectfully rejected. 
He was completely frustrated he wanted to yell on the one who was at fault and he also knew it was his fault to give full authority to his employs who knew that a simple auction which was a custom of company and was nothing new in it will bring a chaos in his busy but peaceful life.
He vowed that in his life he will never let his employs make a single decision regarding his boss's concern.

But what can he do now the deed was done..... ...........sign..

"What the hell is this ???? " a cold voice which was not at all loud but echoed in the room directly reaching to his soul . The next moment a file with a bunch of papers fell on this work table with a small thud but it also had same effect as her voice .
 He was scared to death , suddenly he started to feel the atmosphere of room freezing but also felt some warm and sticky liquid droplets appearing on his forehead and palms. He was not at all willing to face her but what , it is not possible to evaporate himself in air or teleport himself .He has to do this he is responsible for this position of his now it's point to show his loyalty .
( well.... loyalty..... isn't he thinking a bit ....) 
He stood up with his head bowing the person standing in front of him despite his height taller than her was giving him a inferior feel by just her cold look. He suppressed the crying sensations send by his emergent nerves to the stimulus of terror send by her eyes .After one peek he never looked up . 
He stole a glaze at his surroundings and spoke with a professional tone he dare not make another hole for his grave by his own hand by forgetting her qoute.
"Dr. we admit the mistake and are regretting to let you down . We are ready to do anything to make it up to you and are also ready to bear all the concequences ."
He was disappointed in himself but wanted a second chance but while speaking his disappointment was so clear that Grace turned on her heels and slightly nodded to her secretary as she headed towards the private elevator which was designed for only her cabin floor.
It was her favourite torturing technique. She was doctor after all though heart specialist and thoracic surgeon but her knowledge of human psychology was exceptional. She knew that curiosity mixed anxiety and fear is worst but when u leave someone hanging in a situation of action with that suprise element it becomes extreme. 
( well....Dr.Grace sometimes ur own trick can backfire in future but right now it seems that your trick is working).

It was torture for all in the room .Head of the department was horrified he was a law expert and had experience of ages , tackled many psychological pressures but right now this woman had used the technique which worked like he was a normal man terrified with his boss no words.
All were confused they knew this matter brought her back to headquarters and she was not going to just let it go. She is a perfect businessman ...oops...businesswoman ( go feminist go) even her words were worthful .
Secretary Jo gave Head of department and Ms. Nina both two papers each. And patted the Head of Department with a smile as saying everything's gonna okay and left behind his boss track.
Head of department's letter was simple transfer letter he was now transferred to country B which is well known for it's law complexion and political influence but he has 5 year experience of that country of it was not impossible for him to work their but he was middle age with family and migrating at this stage was worst he could have imagined.
Miss. Nina got a termination letter it was end for her . She was more than just shocked . She knew it would not be easy but never thought of this. With the letter in her left hand and right hand over mouth with few drops of water she slowly made her to washroom.After 10 minutes she came back packed her belongings and left no one said a word. It was not they wanted her to leave or didn't have sympathy it was because they knew she hated most to be pitied by others.

"No, no Kazuma-san, I, as a Goddes wouldn't do such despicable t-things" the self-proclaimed Goddess named aqua objected while sweating hard.

"Hooo? Then why do you look like a guilty person now huh, you useless goddess."

 And it's the start of the never-ending argument with this party that can't even beat their enemies without causing any catastrophe or disaster.

*Yawn* "Morning Mom, Issei and Irina-chan will be coming later to play."  I said.

"fufu Ok, my baby boy, by the way, do you have a crush on Irina-chan?" She said to me and teasing me at the same time.

"Ara? But that little boy didn't know that Irina-chan is a girl, so you should court her earlier. fufu." My mom said, and I can't say anything about that as Issei thought Irina is a boy, even though I already explained to him many times.

 And I can't deny that Irina looks like a boy and she acts one as well, and I won't even know it as well if mom never told me about her gender.

But I still refuted. "But that doesn't mean, I want to court Irina-chan, and even if I did like her we're still kids, mom!" I said then continued. 

"And if Issei to know bout it in the future he might try to take and court Irina-chan that time!" I said as I know that issei is a big Pervert/slimeball. (AN: Slimeball = Synonyms for a pervert? or a despicable person? IDK)

"And Irina-chan is the one who would decide to date that time either way" I mumbled this last sentence, so my mom won't hear it.

"Casey's going commando," they kept on chanting.
            "Oh get a grip," Amber defended me instantly. "It's not even a big deal."
            "What I don't understand is why you'd leave your underwear on for swimming in the first place," Tanya Evans had a sick smirk on her face. She was enjoying it far too much. She always did when someone else was suffering. "What happened? Did you need double protection because you've got something to hide? Should you really be in the boys swim class?" The girls in the changing rooms collapsed into a fit of juvenile giggling, as though her casual transphobia was hysterical. "Or maybe it's like the forgotten rainforest down there," Tanya laughed. "Maybe she needs to get a swim cap for down there."
            "That doesn't even make sense," Amber shouted back angrily.
            "Neither does wearing a swim cap," Tanya's grin was poisonous. "Who seriously wears a swim cap?"
            "In some countries it's actually considered hygienic," Amber retaliated.
            "Yeah, you'd know that, if you weren't so basic," Kiera added.
            That was the kind of friendship we had. We were allowed to make fun of each other - Amber and Kiera were even allowed to call my swim cap moronic, if they wanted - but there was no such allowance for anybody else. If anybody else even tried, they were surely going down.
            "The only reason you cultivate this gossip is to try and distract everyone from the fact that you're a hideous, hateful bitch," Amber yelled.
            "Yeah, and you trash everyone in school just so that nobody ever notices how painfully vile you are." Kiera piped up and effectively repeated Amber's argument in her own words. Fortunately Tanya was too obtuse to notice.
            "What's the matter, Casey?" Tanya tried to force another toxic smirk, but I could tell her confidence was wavering. "Can't you say anything for yourself?"
            "She just doesn't want to waste her time talking to low life haters," Amber put both hands on her hips, "but I don't have that problem. I actually have no problem saying that if you don't shut your disgusting pie hole I'm going to rip your hair out and stuff it into Casey's swim cap."
            Sometimes Amber's ferociousness helped.
            "Oh whatever," Tanya picked up her bags and scurried out of the changing rooms. She tried to act casual, but she couldn't disguise the fact that she was obviously scared of Amber. It gave Amber an achieving smile.
            "Have I ever told you how stoked I am that we're friends?" Kiera jumped over to fist bump Amber. "I would so not want to be your enemy. That was literal fire."
            I was sitting on the changing room bench with my head in my hands. I was glad Tanya was gone, but I was still too disturbed to go around offering out fist bumps.
            "Case, don't let that hateful cow get to you," Amber came and sat next to me. "She's gone now."
            "Yeah, but she still knows what happened. She's still going to tell everyone that I left my underwear on for swimming, and that I'm going commando now. You know what she's like. She thrives off gossip."
            "She won't say anything," Kiera said easily, "not after Amber just went savage on her. Besides, you can't gossip about changing room stuff. There's that whole unwritten rule - whatever happens in the changing rooms stays in the changing rooms."
            "You really think that's going to apply here?" I stared at her doubtfully. "In our school? In our town?"
            I wasn't seriously asking those questions. I already knew the answers.
            We didn't go to a big school. We went to West River High. It was on the west side of a notoriously small town called Maplefold. The town got it's name because there was a river that ran right through the middle of it. They say it split the town in half, like it had been folded. Surrounding the river there was a park, which was covered with maple trees. Since the maple trees grew around the town's imaginary fold, it got the name Maplefold.
            It was a beautiful place to live. The whole town was as pretty as a story book. But it was small. The kind of small that would have basically inspired Belle to start singing about the woes of having a provincial life. Not only did everyone know everyone, everyone knew everything about everyone. That was bad when you were someone who was prone to having facepalm moments. My whole life was a facepalm moment. And because we lived in Maplefold - a place where gossip spread quicker than head lice in a preschool - everybody at West River knew it.
            My first major high school calamity was the jack up incident.
            That was back when I thought it might be a good idea to try and claim a name for myself. I wasn't always this bold lion amongst a flock of gullible lambs. I used to care what people thought of me. I used to care a lot. So much that it was basically a psychological trauma to even pick out socks in the morning. I figured that if I wore plain black socks people might have thought I was wearing my dad's socks, but if I wore my favourite dinosaur socks people might have thought I was an even bigger loser. Like I genuinely got a kick out of extinct reptiles, instead of someone who just really liked the picture of the cartoon T-Rex. Then I got an obvious brainwave that helped me find a compromise between the two. It just hit me - I should wear one of each.
            I thought that purposely wearing odd socks would make the exact kind of cool, interesting statement I wanted to make in life. Like, 'look at me, I'm Casey Jackson! I don't need to obey your normal, human-imposed sock protocol. I wear whichever socks I want, whenever I want. I don't adhere to Society's rules. I'm a non-conformist, a free thinker, an activist, and I don't care who knows it!'  In reality I didn't even come close to making that statement. In reality nobody even noticed my socks.
            I should have left it there, but because I was so determined to make the odd-sock-statement thing work I intentionally hitched up my school trousers to display my sock rebellion. It only made everyone in class start calling me Casey Jackups. (My last name is Jackson, I had jackups - you see how that worked. It was seriously juvenile humour, and honestly not that funny.) The absolute worstpart of the story - besides the obvious part of being known for having trousers that were too short - is that nobody even commented on my excellently liberal choice of socks. They didn't even notice. They were too busy congratulating themselves for coming up with that stupid, unimaginative, unfunny nickname.
            But as unfunny and unimaginative as it was, it was one that I was actually grateful for. Casey Jackups was actually one of the better nicknames that I ever had. And if all I was ever known for was being the girl who had jackups, well, it wouldn't have been so bad.
            But sadly it wasn't all I was known for. Not by a long chalk.
            Having jackups was actually the tip of the iceberg. In fact, it was the tip of the tip of the iceberg. In fact, it was those little particles of frost that spike up from the tip of the tip of the iceberg. You get the idea. Embarrassment stuck to me like white on rice (or frost to an igloo, if you want to stick with the ice metaphor) meaning that I had a whole string of dreadful nicknames.
            Like Casey Rainbrows.
            Amber had told me on multiple occasions that eyebrows are 'life'. Apparently they needed to be 'on fleek'. Kiera had told me on multiple occasions that mine were - and I quote - 'more eek, than fleek'. They weren't; they were just natural. Still, I allowed the peer pressure to get to me. I purchased an eyebrow pencil and attempted to find some degree of 'fleek'.
            It didn't quite go to plan.
            I know that sounds insane. Girls in the modern age aren't supposed to get eyebrows wrong. It's the cardinal rule of makeup. They practically teach it to you in school, right after the alphabet. It's on the very first page of the YouTube tutorial. You can't even stumble out of Google without finding some beauty blogger telling you to follow the natural arch and never use too much product. It's true; eyebrows are supposed to be instinctively easy for girls. But to me, they weren't. To me they were actually really, really freaking difficult. Which is why when I attempted to make my eyebrows look 'on fleek' - when everyone else at school was already experimenting with ombré eyeshadow and impossible contouring - I was the dummy who made them in the shape of rainbows.
            Fortunately I had Amber. She was someone who counted her entire makeup bag as an essential school supply. She even used her pencil case to carry extra eyeliner. As soon as she saw me and my rainbrows she marched me straight to the girls bathroom to fix them. Unfortunately it wasn't quite quickly enough. Someone had not only already seen my rainbrows, they had managed to snap a zoomed in picture of them. They sent it all around the school with the caption, #CaseyRainbrow.
            I didn't even have the rainbrows anymore, but it didn't matter. The nickname still stuck.
It put me off trying anything brow related for months after that. I only dared to try again because Amber insisted that the second time around it would be different - because she would help me. She was true to her word. Not only did she give me something that she labelled as 'the holy grail for eyebrows', she also gave me a list of online tutorials to study. They made it look easy. I actually thought I'd be able to manage it. I went into school excited, confident. I thought my brows were the perfect shape. And they were...they just weren't identical. One was considerably higher than the other, meaning I looked like I was permanently raising one eyebrow. Again Amber quickly marched me to the bathroom to correct my mistake, but not before someone could snap yet another picture. It went around school with the caption #CaseyRaisedbrow, and earned many comparisons between me and the raised eyebrow emoji.
            And the nicknames still didn't end there.
            There was the time I didn't realise I'd got toothpaste down my blazer to make everyone call me CJBJ. The time my trousers slipped down to reveal the tiniest top of my butt crack, earning me the nickname Casey Crackson. The time I fell over in the school corridor and ended up scattering tampons across the floor, earning me the nickname Casey Tampaxson. Basically there didn't seem to be a day that went by when I wasn't somehow caught out doing something embarrassing. And each and every single time there was some doofus with a smartphone waiting to capture the moment. It wasn't because I was particularly unlucky, it was because everyone constantly had their phones glued to their hands. There was barely a second of our lives that wasn't captured by someone. With one click it was uploaded to the internet. With another click it was shared, meaning it was all too easy for everyone to see every single embarrassing photo of everyone.
            That was the one good thing about the commando incident. For once there wasn't a picture. The people at our school were sick, but they weren't stupid enough to try and get a picture in the girls changing room. Sadly, that still didn't stop anyone from talking about it. By the time we got out of the changing room everyone had already started whispering. By lunchtime I'd got a brand new nickname.
            Casey Commando.
            "I'm going to destroy that toxic cow Tanya," Amber snapped angrily when she heard everyone chanting it in the lunch hall.
            I was less concerned with destroying Tanya, and more concerned with the fact that everyone in school knew that I was going commando.
            "What am I going to do?" I whispered in a panic as we sat down at the long lunch hall tables. "Everyone is talking about me. Everyone is looking at me. They're all probably thinking about my naked ladybird."
            "You call yourself a feminist, and you can't even say the word vagina?" Amber looked at me judgementally.
            She was right. I was a proud feminist, and I had problems saying the word vagina. The two things didn't go hand in hand. I knew that. I was working on it.
            "You've got to have confidence, Casey," Amber continued. "They'll pounce all over you if you don't."
            "I've got confidence," I argued feebly, "I'm happy to wear a swim cap even though everyone thinks it's dorky."
            "Exactly," Amber nodded. "You wore that ridiculous swim cap for a whole lesson and nobody said anything because you wore it with confidence. You need to do the same thing here. Be confidently commando."
            "I don't know, Amber," I wavered, "it doesn't feel like the same thing."
            "Just look what happened with Kiera," she insisted. "She was totally naked in those changing rooms and nobody said anything because they knew she was too confident to care. The only reason they're jumping on you now is because they can sense your terror. Right, Kie?"
            Kiera didn't answer. She was lost in her phone screen.
            "Kiera!" Amber snapped to get her attention. "Are you even listening to us?"
            "Of course I am," Kiera looked up suddenly. "If you don't want to say vagina, just say vag."
            Amber rolled her eyes. "I knew you weren't listening." She didn't bother to argue with Kiera further. She just turned back to me. "Don't let them talk down to you, Casey. Stand up for yourself. Be confident. Be fierce."
            That was easy enough for her to say. Amber was naturally fierce. Kiera was naturally confident. I was naturally neither.     
            "This won't be headline news for long, Case," Amber tried to reassure me. "You're not going to be commando forever. You're just doing it for one afternoon."
            "Yeah, but I only had rainbrows for the time it took for me to walk into registration. That didn't stop that nickname from sticking for months."
            "Only because the picture kept cropping up," Amber said surely, "but nobody has a picture this time, that means nobody is going to care."
            "True dat," Kiera agreed. "Nobody cares about anything if there isn't evidence. No receipts, no story."
            I could maybe believe that one.

I never wanted to start dating. I got tricked. (Emotionally blackmailed, actually.) By one of my very best friends.

I wasn't exactly thrilled about it. I actively didn't want to date anybody. I especially didn't want to date some loser who was desperate to be set up with me.

This Is the first in a series of six stories that make it clear - once and for all - that girls are not here to be played with.

Whether Kala and others' prayers would be heed or not, that was a story for another day. For now, all they could do was sulk in regret for their actions and look on as Kiba's figure turned distant. None of them wanted to be even close to him, much less try to capture him.
As Kiba expected, the chase didn't end as a new set of crowd started following him. There were just too many people in The Fair. After all, it was almost like a city, a totally safe haven in the forest. The treasures he supposedly owned was a great enticement. 
Kiba was unfazed and continued to rush through streets. He increased his speed a bit and left the crowd in a dust storm. 
"Fuck!"
"He is a treasure mine!"
"Don't let him escape!"
The crowd increased their speeds but they were greatly lacking.
Kiba took a turn on a street ahead, and he has just taken a step, when thunderous roars filled the air.
"Hmm?"
Kiba found streams of light beams coming at him. As they approached closely, it was clear the beams were actually knives, wrapped by lightning vipers. 
Even if a Level III mutant was struck by this lightning vipers, their body would be instantly paralyzed and their hearts pierced by the knives. The speed and power left no chances for avoiding multiple strikes.
"You are attacking the wrong guy with lightning," Kiba couldn't help but smile.
He lifted a hand and waved it in a circular motion. 
With a sharp screeching sound, the knives fell down, but the lightning vipers leaped in air. They were excited, their bodies no longer containing killing power. 
They released enormous energy of lightning and wrapped around his hand. There was no destruction or scorched body as the attacker expected. On the contrary, the snakes seemed to be happy as they licked his hands like a pet. There was a pure, unadulterated joy.
"What?!" A shocked gasp came from some distance ahead.
It was a woman named Pooja. She has middle-length hair, brown skin tone, and a slender frame.
She looked with wide eyes as the lightning vipers disintegrated into lightning particles and glued on his hand.
"How is this possible?! Is he also a lightning-attribute mutant?! But they said he was telekinetic!!"
Pooja has got information from one of the people in the mob. She was thinking when her pupils dilated. She looked with mouth agape at the scene in front of her.
Like a sponge absorbing water, Kiba's hand devoured the lightning particles. There was no resistance as if his body was made of lightning.

"Huh?" Pooja was bewildered. 
Kiba observed her for a moment before explaining, "That means I'm a believer in equality."
Pooja didn't understand his words but his next action cleared all her doubts.
A fist rammed into her stomach like a truck. Her secret armor shattered into pieces and her body instantly turned pale.
"It means I shouldn't discriminate just because you are a woman," Kiba said as he lowered his fist. 
Pooja was in no state to reply. As soon as the punch made a contact, she was sent flying through air, coughing up an arrow of blood.
After flying for two hundred meters, she crashed into a wall. The rampaging force in her belly surged into the wall behind, and the wall cracked into fragments.
"AHHHHH!"
Pooja let out a heart-wrenching scream. She found her internal organs shattered, on brink of collapse. 
Her eyes erupted with tears and her face turned sickly yellow. 
Kiba slowly stepped forward and arrived before her. The dust on the ground swept away as he crouched down.
