I thought only names, places, and events can only be a fiction. But when I met a poem writer, I just realized that love can be also a fiction.

I'm a novelist who loves tragic ending.

He's a poem writer who loves to write romantic words.

Both of us are a writer.

Our pen will suddenly meet as it lead us to a love story.

That even reality will turn to an imagination.

And our love story will suddenly be just a WORK OF FICTION.

The two girls will devise a plan to keep the secret going for as long as they can but how long will it be before the truth is exposed...

These are poems or thoughts I’ve written (maybe even some my friends have wrote) and some poems from famous and non famous poets, sometimes there might even be parts of speeches or song lyrics. There will are also some quotes.

NOTE: Anything that says a different name other than “Nekozilla” does not belong to me. Do not steal my works, these are my own personal writings and nobody appreciates a writing thief.

"If Ziqian [1]had not left for Qingzhou, this would've been his duty," said Zhang Zhen.
"He's the best poet among us."
Chen Tai's long beard swayed as a cold wind blew into the room. "Brother Jinyan[2] is more fit for the courts than myself."
"Are you accusing me of passing the buck?" Zhang Zhen quickly followed up with a challenge. "Well, I can't wait to hear your poem. I'll be sure to have my ears wide open."
As an argument was about to break out, a student of Zhang Zhen's entered the room. He greeted them with a bow before saying, "Xu Cijiu is here."
'Xu Cijiu? Why is he here? Has he finished copying the sage's quote?' Zhang Zhen nodded. "Bring him in."
The student nodded and left. Zhang Zhen stared across the chessboard at Chen Tai and smiled. "Speaking of which, I recently took in a new student, Xu Cijiu's cousin. He's an incredibly talented poet."
Li Mubai immediately spoke up, "He's also my student."
Chen Tai looked between the two elders—realization dawned on him. "The man who wrote the line, 'Fear not a journey of loneliness, for you are not a stranger to the realm'?"
Li Mubai and Zhang Zhen grinned.
Chen Tai let out a howling laugh as he wagged his finger at the two elders.
"What are you laughing at?"
Chen Tai held back his laughter and mocked, "I'm laughing at the fact that you're both blinded by fame and jealousy. Yang Ziqian's name will live on in the poem but you two should stop daydreaming. Beautiful poems are few and far between. Not every poem will end up in the history books.
"That epic poem probably took up all his talent. And now you expect him to come up with two more masterpieces so your names will be remembered? Has the noble spirit in you been swallowed up by greed?"
Li Mubai and Zhang Zhen were silent.
They knew Chen Tai was right about the scarcity of good poems. The man was not even a scholar, and the creation of the farewell poem could have just been a coincidence.
To pin their hopes of being written into the history books on some low-level constable was a tad ridiculous.
"Youping is right. As a scholar, we should be humble. For our names to be written into history, we should walk the proper path instead of seeking shortcuts. We have strayed from the teachings." The two elders folded their hands and bowed before Chen Tai.
"To have a mistake rectified is the greatest deed," Chen Tai intoned as he nodded.
Moments later, Zhang Zhen's student came back with Xu Qian and Xu Xinnian in tow.
The two brothers greeted the room. "We're here to see the teachers."
Li Mubai and Zhang Zhen exchanged a glance—the arrival of Xu Qian was unexpected but welcomed.
"Sit," Zhang Zhen said.
"Ningyan, you came. Is it because inspiration has struck you again?" Li Mubai probed.
Xu Qian shook his head and said, "I'm here to ask for a favor."
"Go on."
Xu Qian told the two elders about the request but hid the fact that it was part of a revenge plot against the Assistant Minister of Revenue. He did however mention Assistant Minister Zhou could be the mastermind of the missing tax silvers and once the inspections were over, it was highly likely that he would punish the Xu family.
"This…" Li Mubai looked over to Zhang Zhen who was equally as concerned. "The academy doesn't allow outsiders to stay over, it's the rule."
Rules were important to scholars.
Before Xu Qian could argue, Xu Xinnian spoke up, "The crown princess often stays over in the academy too."
Zhang Zhen shook his head. "She's the crown princess."
Xu Xinnian nodded. "So the academy's rule applies to everyone but the Emperor's kin."
'This young man hasn't learned anything about tactfulness.'
The three elders in the room laughed.
Xu Qian withheld his giggle—his brother's tongue was as sharp as ever.
Li Mubai shook his head and said, "Brother Jinyan, I can't wait for your student to enter the fateweaver rank."
'That's a horrifying thought.' Zhang Zhen's lips twitched.
Chen Tai was the only person beaming. He looked at Xu Qian and said, "You are Xu Ningyan?"
"Yes." The man who was undercover as a scholar folded his hands in greeting.
"I hear you're a great poet. How about this? If you can come up with a poem that impresses all three elders in this room, I'll allow the women to seek refuge in the academy and personally safeguard them."
Staying in the academy was one thing but more importantly, the elder was promising their safety.
That was the real reason why the Xu brothers came to the White Deer Academy.
A glimmer of hope appeared on Xu Xinnian's face. He turned to Xu Qian and uttered, "Brother…"
He was elated but also nervous. Writing poetry was not difficult—every scholar could string words into a rhyme or stanza. The difficult part was impressing the elders.
Was it really that difficult?
Yes. Yes, it was.
'Poetry? You're asking me to give you poems for free?' Xu Qian did not immediately agree. Instead, he asked, "Any themes? Or do I get to choose?"
The three elders eyed each other. Zhang Zhen said, "The theme is learning."
'Of course they have something in mind. Else, I could just randomly pick one from my memory,' Xu Qian sighed in his heart.
Despite that, he was relieved as the theme was still within his scope of knowledge.
He was reminded of the text he studied in high school titled, On Learning. However, being an essay, it did not fulfill the criteria.
'Through books, you will find grand houses and graceful ladies!'
The proverb came from a famous poem that survived the centuries.
It was known to be one of the essential readings when it came to the theme, learning.
Just as he was going to present the poem, he suddenly remembered the precarious position the White Deer Academy was in since 200 years ago.
'If I remembered correctly, this poem was written by the emperor during the Song Dynasty. It mainly spoke about the merits and successes that came with studying but the White Deer Academy students have been ostracized by the courts.
'When Cijiu passed his exams, he was worrying about which remote town he would be sent to.
'This poem would be a slap to the face for the academy students…'
The prolonged silence from Xu Qian worried Xu Xinnian. Zhang Zhen and Li Mubai stared expectantly at Xu Qian while Chen Tai sipped his tea, an amused smile on his face.
Then, Xu Qian stirred from his thoughts. He folded his hands and said, "Forgive my dullness. Cijiu, please ready the ink."
Xu Xinnian placed the brush, ink, and paper on the table. He prepared a fresh batch of ink and dipped the brush, staining the bristles black. Pulling his sleeve up, he angled the brush, gesturing for Xu Qian to accept it.
'I better not humiliate myself with my horrible calligraphy skills.' The turmoil in his heart was not shown on his face. Xu Qian struck a pose, looking like a scholar rousing the mountains with his words.
"Cijiu, be my brush."
Xu Xinnian nodded obediently and sat down before the table.
"The candlelight burns from midnight to morn.
"That's when scholars should study the most.
"When young, we neglect studies for fun.
"When old, we regret not learning enough."
Xu Xinnian finished writing and put down the brush. He stared at the neatly-written seven-character quatrain and felt a pang of emotions in his heart.
Silence filled the room. Xu Xinnian could feel the lingering sadness of the poem. The three Confucian elders walked over to the table and stared at the end-product.
They studied the words in silence.
The long-bearded elder in black robes found his eyes prickling with tears.

Once a police academy graduate—Xu Qian, woke up and found himself in jail. He was to be banished to the borderlands in three days...

Many years later, Xu Qian recalled the events of the past. His enemies and friends were dead, there was nothing of them left but bones.
The rolling Yangtze River flows east as the waves wash away the heroes. 
Success or failure, wrong or right; matters little, it might?
The lush mountains remain while the sun sets every night.


Lu Zhou glanced at the cultivation techniques and weapons in the shopping mall. The cheapest among them still cost at least 1,000 merit points. So, he did not spend the remaining merit points.
He planned to let his disciples do more tasks, so that he could prolong his life. Then, he would accumulate merit points and get himself a good enough cultivation technique or weapons.
In his memory, this world was too dangerous. With his current cultivation base, if he left Golden Court Mountain, it would be very difficult for him to protect himself. "Master, let me grind the ink for you." Prompted by a sudden inspiration, Little Yuan'er knelt beside the small tea table and carefully ground the ink.
In his previous life, Lu Zhou was an art student. When he was free, he liked to practice calligraphy, and his works even won awards at school.
So, writing was not difficult for him.
He picked up a writing brush and dipped it in the ink. Then, he wrote on a sheet of pure white paper: Yu Zhenghai, Yu Shangrong, Duanmu Sheng, Mingshi Yin, Zhao Yue, Ye Tianxin, Si Wuya, Zhu Honggong, Ci Yuan'er.

Lu Zhou was lost in thought as he stared at the list. He wondered to what extent had the cultivation base of the eldest disciple reached, when even the most junior disciple was a Divine Court expert. Was he stronger than Ji Tiandao? If he were, with the murderous mind of Yu Zhenghai and Yu Shangrong, how could they allow an old villain like Ji Tiandao to continue existing in this world?
Besides, Ji Tiandao should know very well that each of the disciples he had taught was as savage as a tiger and as fierce as a wolf, and they certainly would betray him one day. Did he keep some tricks and trump cards up his sleeve when he began teaching these disciples?
Everything was worth pondering upon.
Unfortunately, the most critical part of the memory was lost, causing Lu Zhou to fail to figure out the answers.
'Ji Tiandao, what were the life-saving items you had kept?'
As he was thinking, Little Yuan'er waved her hand in front of his face and said with an admiring look, "Master, your writing is really beautiful! Why did you write my name?"
Lu Zhou sighed and said, "I'm introspecting."
"Introspecting?"
"Self-introspection should be practiced on a daily basis. I've taught nine disciples who do evil everywhere, causing widespread indignation and resentment. Maybe, I was wrong."
While he said that with his mouth, he thought, 'What wrong have I done? It was Ji Tiandao who was wrong.' A crooked stick would have a crooked shadow; it could be seen from some subtle behaviors of these disciples. He would have felt deeply ashamed if he had disciples who wanted to kill people at the slightest provocation.
"Then, why did Master want to take the nine of us as disciples? And you have only taken nine disciples...With your ability, you can open up Evil Sky Pavilion and Golden Court Mountain and take tens of thousands of disciples. With so many disciples, no one will dare to disobey you, and those orthodox sects will not dare to provoke us. With just one order from you, the many disciples will wipe out anyone who refuses to submit to us. Those who submit to us will thrive and those who resist us will perish!"

Lu Zhou lifted his old hand and wanted to knock Little Yuan'er on the forehead. Not daring to avoid it, the little girl hunched her shoulders and closed her eyes as she waited for the beating.

His ninth disciple was right, as there was one more character 'Shi'. Mingshi Yin untied his backpack and threw it toward the street in the town. Suddenly, banknotes, gold, silver and jewelry blotted out the sky and fell like rain.
"Let me be generous just once!"
Mingshi Yin thought of using the money to buy some girls, but since he had decided to not do that, there was no point in keeping it. Besides, he was not short of money anyway.
The people in the street ran for cover, but when they saw what had fallen to the ground were gold, silver and jewelry, they began to grab the things frantically. 
In the blink of an eye, all the money was gone.
When the people saw the figure flash in the sky, they threw themselves to the ground and began bowing.
"A Bodhisattva! A living Bodhisattva! Thank you!"
"Thank Heaven!"

It seemed to be very suitable for them!

Those industry insiders were now regretting quite a bit. They had initially felt that Zhang Ye was done for and that he would disappear from the entertainment circle. They felt that even if they were to offend him, there would be no problems. So instead, they sucked up to Li Tao and the Shanghai SARFT. That poem had shocked the nation and displaced a leader of a television station of his role. It was rumoured that he was. In the past, Wang Shuixin had some fame as a poet and was the person who wrote "Everything", which made its way into our educational material, but who was Zhang Ye? A man with no fame and authority. Just with a poem like "Some People", whenever it was mentioned, it made people hateful of Wang Shuixin. They would need to scold him a bit to ease their rage!

What kind of viciousness was this?!

This was the power of Zhang Ye's works!

"Working Together" might not be as good as "Some People", but it was also a powerful work. That bunch of industry insiders thought to themselves and hoped that they wouldn't become related names with "Working Together". To be mentioned in the same breath whenever this "Working Together" was brought up by people and the future generations? To be alluded with this poem? Holy sh*t! This sort of opportunity was not something they wanted!

The scoldings faded.

They did not make any posts on Weibo!

Zhang Ye's practical move had warned many others. Yes, this bro did offend people. I might not be able to continue on in the entertainment industry, but my conscience is clear. I did nothing wrong. "Yea." Zhang Ye was feeling at ease and smiled. "Then how did you think I would settle it? I just want to scold them into submission. Different situations call for different actions, I don't care who it is. Whoever it is, come get me!"

Next day, it was a busy morning for Miller family. Exactly at 10:00 am, the track came and after loading all their luggage, they started their journey towards Los Angeles from Phoenix. It was a long way. During the whole journey, Daisy was enjoying the view of the road. That day she got no time to play but she logged in her account and scrolling her friend list, she scanned the pictures of her teammates again and again. She was highly anticipated that she would easily recognize them. Among all of them, Kratos was her closest one. When she scanned his display picture, she found his sharp facial features, Duchess' nose, sharp jawline, fair skin and thin lips very attractive. Though it was impossible for Daisy to rectify much from that small picture of Kratos' gaming profile, but she got a rough idea. She knew their real names also.
They took a stoppage and spent the night in a hotel. Then next morning again, they commenced their journey to their final destination. On the other side, Daisy's team was missing her badly though there was no important match or competition to play at that time but Daisy's absence made them feel that their team lost their charm. Specially Kratos was waiting for his Minerva. Without her, Kratos' mood was really down.  
After a long tiresome journey when Daisy reached to their new house in Los Angeles, she found that the house was extremely beautiful and well-decorated, located in the middle of Los Angeles city and exactly twenty minutes away from her college. The interior of the house was extremely bright and was reflecting a strong good vibe. Daisy found her bedroom in the second floor of the house which was cosy and comfortable and her huge bed fitted inside the room perfectly. There was also a balcony attached with her room where a swing was hanging and decorated with some artificial flower tubs. Daisy looked at the sky, leaning against the balcony. She could see the vast clear blue sky, shining brightly above her head through the balcony. 
After taking dinner, when Daisy logged in her account, her inbox was filled with messages from her squad. Among them Kratos alone sent her twenty messages. She hurriedly typed a reply to him, " Sorry, I was busy. I will play tomorrow. Good Night," and then laid down on her comfortable bed. The moment her head touched the soft pillow deep sleep engulfed her.
Next day was the first day of Daisy's college. Daisy was dancing like a butterfly in excitement. Her excited behaviour was even unexpected for her parents though they were happy. It was exactly at 9:15am, when Daisy got out from her house and climbed on her Dad's black Audi. Soon they reached Los Angeles City College and after wishing Daisy good day, Henry left for his work.
Daisy nervously yet with an excitement started walking towards the college building. It was a huge college, the playground, lobby, auditorium, prayer hall all were extremely vast and it had three four storey buildings. As that was pick hour, every inch of the college was crowded with students, dressed in their colourful dresses. Anyone could easily guess that it was one of the most luxurious colleges of Los Angeles. She walked towards the office counter and collected her papers and documents. Then, she walked to her college as instructed in her schedule. Entering inside the class, she saw it was half filled with beautiful and energetic boys and girls. She found an empty seat in the second row and sat on it and immediately, a sweet voice of a girl called me. "Hey, are you the new girl?" asked a young pretty girl curiously. Daisy nodded her head positively and replied in her silvery tone, "Yes. I am Daisy Miller." The girl in a yellow top and black mini-skirt replied with a bright smile, "Hello, I am Helen. Nice to meet you, Daisy." Her brown eyes and blonde hair were a great combination and her eyes were shining brightly, reflecting her pure emotion of happiness. Daisy and Helen chatted for few more minutes until a middle aged woman entered into the class and immediately the class became silent. Previous cacophony of the students turned into a pin drop silence. Helen whispered near Daisy's ear, "She is Mrs. Smith, our professor of English Literature. She is very strict. None dares to offend her." Daisy nodded her head, sparing a short glance at Helen. The whole class wished Mrs. Smith good morning in chorus. Mrs. Smith replied in her grave deep voice, "Good morning students." Then placing her books on the wooden table, she continued, "Students, we have a new student who has joined us today. Let's welcome Daisy Miller, a student of Medical." Daisy stood up from her seat and replied in her sweet voice, "Hello, Mrs. Smith. Hello friends, it is a pleasure, meeting you all." Instantly, Daisy could hear several voices wished her. Daisy looked at Helen with a bright smile and Helen winked at her. The students of the classes were really nice towards Daisy and behaved warmly, welcoming her in a sweet manner. Daisy sat down again and Mrs. Smith started her teaching. She explained about the syllabus and about the previous lessons. Mrs.Smith explained, "So we have already completed our last chapter. Today we are going to start a new poem named, 'After the Storm' by William Wordsworth." Then looking at Daisy, Mrs. Smith ordered, " Daisy Miller, will you read the poem loudly so that rest of the class can hear?" Daisy replied obediently, "Yes, Mrs. Smith." Then she started reciting the poem, standing in her place, in her silvery voice. The poem sounded like a melodious song in her sweet voice. 
On the other side, it was the time for selection of players for Intra College Football competition. So, every houses of college was campaigning for their own group. Though among all the houses of White and Blue were the most famous group and they were rivals to each other. In the middle of the poem, a croaked young male voice asked from outside, "Mrs. Smith, May we come in? We are here to announce a notice on behalf of Blue house." Mrs. Smith nodded her head positively. Though, the boy was not eager to interrupt between the poem as the voice of that girl sounded very familiar and soothing but he couldn't suppress the urge of seeing her. So he immediately entered inside the class, after getting permission from Mrs.Smith.
Nicolas saw a stunning beautiful girl, standing with a book in her hands. She had high forehead, small chin, small nose, short and narrow jaws, high cheekbones, flawless fair skin and a perfect curvy figure. Her long wavy deep brown hair, cherry lips and two pair of wide sea green eyes made her, looking like no less than a celebrity. She was really a rare beauty. Nicolas immediately froze and was staring at her like she was the only one in the class. But when his friend Jason poked him with his elbow, Nicolas returned to his sense and clearing his throat, announced loudly, "Students who are interested in joining Blue house, must meet us after this class in auditorium. We have started our selection for Intra School Football match. So, don't waste your opportunity. Thank you." During the time of his speech, Nicolas was looking at the girl again and again. Nicolas noticed that the girl was also staring at her with a sweet smile in her cherry lips. But the moment, their eyes were connecting, the girl was looking away. Nicolas wanted to see her for little longer, but Jason pulled him outside, after thanking Mrs. Smith. They were all in hurry. Nicolas reluctantly started walking towards the second class but his mind was full of the thoughts of that girl. He was trying to recall where he had heard her voice before. Nicolas realized that the girl was too attractive to stay away from her. She was really unique, the way she was staring at him was as if she knew him.

My body finally stops shaking once I reach the comfort of my room. As I enter the doorway, the smell of frankincense wafts into my nose, a smell that has always been comforting and that tells me I'm home. I inhale the scent, immediately returning to simpler times that existed in my childhood. Times before my mother left or before I started school. Before I hit puberty and it felt as if my body was at war with itself, my face attacked with waves of acne and cramps galore that came with a period. All of those days existed beside frankincense and occasionally some lavender, the scents that calmed me while at my peak stress levels.

My feet lead me to the left edge of my bed where I fall face-first onto my plush comforter, hoping sleep would hit me like a freight-train and take me away. Sadly, the thoughts in my head keep bouncing around, quarreling with each other in close quarters, like molecules in a liquid do. Why can't I get those eyes out of my head? I groan and shove a pillow into my face. This has officially been one heck of a day. All I want now is to just sit in my room and drown myself in music, maybe read a book. 

With a deep breath, I hoist myself out of my bed and grab two trusted books that have been by my side for years, my mother's old journal and a book of poetry my mother left in the bookcase after she had gone, all famous poems. She hand wrote her favorite poem on the back cover with a blue pen in flawless cursive handwriting, "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou. Sometimes, when I reread that poem for the umpteenth time, I think that maybe she left that poem for me on purpose, like it's a message to stand tall and to not let anything drag me down. I guess I won't know for a while since my mother's a big mystery. She's like this massive question mark stamped in my life, impossible to get rid of no matter how hard I try. 

I lay on my bed once again and roll myself into a blanket burrito, cozying myself up for some reading. No matter how old I get, I will never be too old for a blanket burrito. I tell myself. At that note, I plug in earbuds and turn on the Beatles then open up to where I left off on my mother's journal. She had bought a really big notebook long ago, one of those three subject ones, and had filled pretty much every page except for ten at the end. I was five pages from her last entry. At this point, she describes giving birth to the twins and how that was a surreal experience. She didn't like the names Reed and Elliot because they're too plain, according to the journal, but she never argued with my father to change them. But she didn't argue because she let my father pick the names if the babies were boys. Shouldn't they both have agreed on names together? I wonder. 

In my earbuds, I hear guitar strumming and John Lennon singing, "words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup" and I'm thrown back into a memory. The song is playing softly on a stereo in the background while I sit with my mother on my bed. "Mommy, how did I get my name?" I ask, sitting with my knees bent under me, my hands in my lap. My mother ran her fingers through my long brown hair, brushing it delicately, making sure I couldn't feel the tug of the brush when she worked at knots in my hair.

"Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box," Lennon hums. A soft golden glow shines into my room, illuminating my mother and I, turning my hair into the color of molten chocolate. Mom hums along with Lennon, keeping in perfect tune with his voice. "Well, my Eleni, it's quite a funny story, actually. I wanted to name you Helen, after my mother. But your father didn't like the name."

"Why not?" I ask, interrupting her story. I can feel the hairbrush bristles run through my hair, making sure it's as smooth as silk. 

"I don't know, my dear, I don't know." My mother had a voice that was like honey, the kind of voice you could listen to for hours on the radio while you drive. "Anyways, I really liked the name Helen. Not just because of my mother's free spirit that I hoped to pass down to you, but because I've always been into Greek mythology."
"What's mythology?" I ask.

"It's what a lot of people believed in, a long, long time ago. I've told you the story of Helen of Troy, haven't I?" She asks.

"Yes, Mommy." I respond.

"I wanted you to have the name Helen because I wanted you to gain the free spirit of my mother and the beauty of Helen of Troy. Not just outer beauty, but inner beauty, too. So, I figured out that Helen in Greek is Eleni and that's how I picked your name. Only did your father realize too late that it's still Helen." Mom chuckles, parting my hair into a trio of strands for a braid. "I like Eleni better anyways, it suits you, my dear."

We sit there in silence, listening to the melodic sound of John Lennon's quiet voice and feel the sunlight on our faces. I sit patiently as Mom braids my hair, humming along to the music for the last time. I watch as Dad enters my room with a smile and kisses my mother for the last time and I feel her embrace me for the last time as she completes the braid.

Why did you have to go like that? I walk over to the mirror in my room, getting out of my blanket burrito and I stare at myself. My small height, the brown hair that I cut right above my shoulders, unlike how it used to be. I look at my amber eyes, as bright as my mother's, my pear shape figure and my slightly hunched stance. I look at the little round piercing in my nose and the line of three piercings on my right ear. Behind me, I can see the memory of my mother, looking into the mirror beside me. We almost look like copies of each other, besides the piercings. I still feel her fingers run through my short, wavy hair, wishing it were long enough for a braid.

At that point, the tears hit me as hard as I wished sleep would. The whole day combined slams into me as fast as a bullet train and the tears race down my face like a waterfall. I can't stop thinking about Ashy Lake and downtown. Those events run through my mind on repeat, refusing to leave. But now new thoughts are surfacing, thoughts like "would my mother even recognize me" or "is she still the same person written in that journal?" 

My eyes still blurry with tears, I sit down and open up that journal again. I need to get this all out in the open. On the next available page, I take out a mechanical pencil and write, "Dear Mom, if this notebook may ever find its way back to your hands, I want to be able to introduce myself to you. My name is Eleni May Price and I'm eighteen years old. I just graduated last May and I'm desperately hoping to get out into the world, just to see what it has to offer me. In this letter, I would like for you to know who I am... but really even I don't know who I am. I guess it can't hurt to tell you the little things. I love music a lot. I think that would make you proud since you ingrained that in me when I was young. Music has helped me through many times when nothing else could.  I play the piano on a keyboard I keep in my room. I also like to read poetry and sometimes write it, although sadly I don't have the talent to become professional. Another thing I love are the stars. I could go outside right now and name every constellation up in the sky, from Ursa Major to Taurus. I've always loved the stars and because of their beauty I tend to call them the heavens. I'm not particularly religious, so to me, the heavens aren't a particular place but a concept. I think the heavens are anything with true natural beauty that's hard for the human brain to comprehend. So for me that includes the light that reaches us from stars that's millions of years old, entire galaxies unknown, celestial bodies so big that we can't even compare them to our size as human beings. 

"I'm also gay. I haven't told anyone and I don't plan on doing it anytime soon, but it feels good to write it down on paper. One less thing weighing me down, I suppose. I know that being gay doesn't define who I am, but as soon as Redland finds out it will be who I am. I'll just be that gay girl that everybody talks about. Or people will say it's a phase or that I could get help to become straight again. I don't want that. I shouldn't have to live life here being called 'that gay girl' when I'm so much more than that. 

"I think about you everyday. I know Reed and Elliot think about you a lot, too. They don't remember you, though. You just created this crater in their life that they don't know how to deal with. For me you're just this mystery. I have few memories of you, but really you've just made my life complicated. I can't just say 'oh, I have a mother but I never met her so I'm not connected to her.' I am connected to you. In a strange way, I am. I'm only connected by a frail old string, but still conjoined to you, wondering why you left, why you didn't take me, why you left my father miserable and alone, why my brothers and I had to lack a mother figure our whole childhood. I should be mad at you, but I'm not. I don't know why I'm not, when I certainly have a right to be. At this point I think we've lost all chance to be mother and daughter because we're strangers. Just pigments of each other's imagination. We've built up figures in our minds that inaccurately represent each other and will be taken aback by the differences when we finally meet... if we ever meet.

"I think you've lost your chance to be a mother now and that's okay. As strangers we can get a fresh start. Sometimes fresh starts are better off than building a relationship off a dying bond. So consider this as a greeting card, a new first impression, a chance at redemption, or a chance to possibly salvage what's left of that little string that is our connection. Because in the end, even for as long as you've been gone, I still need you in my life. I miss you, Mom." I smile and close the journal. Hopefully someday I'll be reading a letter from her in return.
