LadyBug is a young girl who has a hard time understanding the world. Although she is given a lot to deal with as a small child, to only suffer the death of her mother. She must face her alter ego and accept that she has the power to change her life if she follows her heart instead of listening to her thoughts from the past.

How's school life like for you? For everyone, it will be slightly different. Some of us will experience things like bullying, others may bask under the limelight and attention from the school population. But ultimately, we are all students, attending the same school to achieve academically. 
For Jaselle and Jason, they began their schooling journey ever since preschool and at that, the same preschool, primary school and up till today, secondary school.
Their relationship with each other grew unexpectedly and many elements they'd have to tackle along the way, was becoming a factor causing their relationship to deteoriate. Will they make it out of this hell and have a happy ending?

The following day, Lin Meixing had read up on all the preschools in the neighborhood. There were many, and while she was unable to afford the one for the children of affluent families, she could still afford a traditional preschool of decent quality.

As she took Lin Jingli's hand, the two of them began moving towards the preschool. They were laughing and having fun along the way. Everyone who saw them could see that it was a loving mother and her son, but many took an extra look, and some even had disdain in their eyes when they saw how young the mother was. 

While they were walking down the street, a car came driving down the road, and inside was Assistant Lei, Xu Jingchen's assistant. 

Looking at the small child and the happy mother at the side of the road, Assistant Lei was waiting for the red light to change, he could not help but frown. That child resembled his boss so much that it was shocking. 

But when he remembered how his boss refused all women, and would never give in to even his mother's pleas of finding a girlfriend, he was sure that this was merely a coincidence.

The light turned green, and he hurried away in the car, while Lin Meixing and Lin Jingli smilingly arrived at the preschool.

The school was built around ten years ago, it was spacious, and there were playgrounds outside for the kids to play during the day. The facilities were all good, and the teachers were known to be understanding and good at handling the children. 

Lin Jingli looked around and smiled sweetly, his appearance was so adorable that the adults in the school all took a liking to him. He was so handsome already; they could not imagine just how beautiful he would become when he grew up!

"Miss Lin, let us take Lin Jingli out to play on the playground while you sign the papers."

Nodding her head, Lin Meixing told Lin Jingli to follow the teacher, and the secretary who had shown her around took her to the office where she quickly signed the signup form and the papers that had to do with transferring to the school.

Everyone knew that Lin Meixing was a single mother, but they did not look down upon her. Her son was so polite and sweet, he was doing what he was told, and did not kick a fuss, even when his mother left to sign the papers. It was clear that he was an adorable child. She had raised him well. 

Lin Meixing was also relieved when she saw that they were polite to her, even though she was a single mother, and she smiled gently at the secretary.

After finishing up the signup procedure, she was told that he could begin the following Monday. 

The secretary then led her back to the playground, where she saw that her little baby was playing with a girl in the sandbox. 

Although he did not seem immensely happy and satisfied, he was patient, and was building a massive sandcastle for the girl, making her clap her hands in excitement. 

Lin Jingli had never before played with a child, so the fact that he could play this well was quite surprising, and tears welled up in Lin Meixing's eyes as she observed it. it, but she quickly pushed the tears down, took a deep breath, and when Lin Jingli was finished with the sandcastle, she went to pick him up.

The little girl was upset, but after hearing that Lin Jingli was going to be attending their preschool with her in the future, she felt much happier. Together the mother and son left the school grounds, and began moving home. 

As they arrived home, Lin Meixing played and taught Lin Jingli for a bit before she sat in front of her laptop. Here, she began tidying up her resume, and sent it out to various companies in an attempt at looking for a job. 

She sent the application to almost every company, apart from the one belonging to Xu Jingchen. She did not want to have anything to do with him.

After a few days, she was invited to a few job interviews, and she was excited. She hurriedly scheduled them. The following Tuesday, after dropping Lin Jingli at the preschool, she went to the first of the many interviews. 

The company was a design studio that she heard that it had an excellent reputation, and she was excited about going there. 

As she arrived, she was quickly sent to the meeting room, and here she behaved like a professional as she showed her resume and her portfolio. The president was present, and even he was very satisfied with her. 

After an hour interview, the results were that they would instantly hire her. Lin Meixing was relieved and happy. She smiled brightly as she went to sign the employment contract. 

Everything was finally going as she had wanted. She had a job, and she would be able to keep providing for her son and parents. A warm fuzzy feeling erupted in her heart as she was reminded of her son, who was so adorable.

As she was about to leave, she had also greeted the ones who were to be her coworkers, and all of them were polite and friendly; it seemed that there was no hostile competition in this work environment. 

Just as she was about to leave, she turned around a corner and bumped into a tall and sturdy figure.

Lin Meixing, who was wearing high heels, slipped on the floor, and just as she was about to fall, a strong arm reached out, grabbed her around the waist, and pulled her into an embrace.

Abandoned. 

Despaired.

Forgotten.

Lin Meixing was forced to flee the country, leave behind everything she held dear to start life anew on another continent.

However, she was not alone. In her womb, a little life was growing. This life was the source of her strength. It was like a piece of driftwood that appeared in front of a drowning person, and Lin Meixing held onto it for dear life.

Her beloved son had become the center of her world, and she sacrificed many things for his sake. 

However, the secure life she had created in the foreign country did not last. Due to some circumstances, she returned home, and here she encountered the man who had made her feel helpless, sad, and heartbroken. 

Yet he seemed to have forgotten all about her existence; he behaved as if her agony meant nothing to him.

There was a legend that happened millions of years ago and it was about six fated baby's that would be born with a key, they would have to grow up to find each other in order to stop the curse upon the legend. If they didn't find the each other in the end they would all die by color vines of their key's color and would be strangled to death by the vines. Thats the legend that somehow happened to these baby's, On a late foggy night there was six unique beautiful babies born in a hospital. There was two girls and four boys, two of the four boys were twins. So now we are going to introduce the main characters, Baby 1. Reina she has brown hair and hazel eyes. Baby 2. Voilet she has black hair and blue eyes. Baby 3. Liam he has blonde hair and blue eyes. Baby 4. Gray he has black hair and yellow eyes. Babies 5 & 6. The twins Benji and Mark they both have dark brown hair and light brown eyes. 
   The unique things about all these babies was that they were all born with keys on a necklace. The keys all have different colors on them and its basically their personalities as colors. The thing is they were all born on a very bad thunderstorm that had the power out in all of tokyo, they were the only babies that survived that night, all the doctors had to use flash lights and emergency equipment to make sure that they survived. Their parents were terrified that night, because they thought their babies wouldn't make it through this harsh environment, but sure enough they all made it and were safe. 
   After they were born the parents left the hospital with their babies and went their separate ways without realizing that all of the six babies had key necklaces. The parents end realizing the true meanings behind the keys and they would tell their kids in the future. The doctors brought up the legend to the parents and all the parents knew about the legend but they didn't know every baby was in the same hospital at the same time. So the parents went home with out even knowing every baby was actually in the same hospital the whole time. 
   As the parents got home with their new baby's they had to realize the out come of all of this and had to prepare for the future that will awaited them, Because the legend brings bad luck to the kids with the keys and also no one can take away the keys from the kids. The good thing is that as long as the kids with the keys meet and become friends and stick with each other the curse will go away and the bad luck will stop. All the parents could wish for was the kids happiness and the luck of the world to find each other. All the kids have to do is believe in fate for it to bring them together and find one another to make the curse end.
 ~5 years later, Reina's pov~ 
   It was really early in the morning and I was getting ready for my first day of preschool. My mom said that I was gonna go to preschool to get ready for real school so I can be smart. I can't wait, I wanna be smart like my mommy. I'm kinda scared to go to preschool because I have to make friends. My mom told me to make friends that I can trust with my secrets and that would protect me from Anything. 
   My mom was helping me get dressed and she put me in a pink flower dress I didn't like dresses, but my mom wanted me to look nice on my first day. She also helped put on the garnet earrings she bought me yesterday I thought they were really pretty. She went to go make breakfast down stairs while I was looking at myself in the mirror. I was really pretty but I just never liked dresses but it's okay because I still looked pretty in dresses too.
   "Reina come down stairs you are gotta eat your breakfast, then we have to leave to take you to school and then I got to go to work." My mom said to me. "I'll be right there mommy hold on." I said back to her. I started running down the stairs after i got to the last step I was about to fall but my mom ran over and catches me right on time. "Reina you need to be more careful you could've gotten really hurt if I weren't there to save you." she said to me. "I'm sorry mommy I didn't mean too." I said back to her almost in tears. "It's okay honey you just have to be more careful." She said to me and hugged me so I would cry. 
   As she carried me to the table to eat my breakfast she was telling me to be nice to the kids at the preschool and to not let anyone take my key from me and to stay safe. I was eating my apple slices my mom made for me and my mom was getting my backpack together with all my snacks and my favorite stuff animal. "Reina come on we have to leave or you gonna be late, your down with the apples right?" She said. "Yes mommy I'm done." I said back. I got off of the seat and walked to my mom that was grabbing her bag that had all of her stuff and she was double checking to see if she had all of her stuff. "Mommy did you get Lyly the lion." I said to her. "Yes honey Lyly is in the car with your red backpack." She said back. 
   We left the house and I was holding Lyly in my hands, he was my favorite stuff animal ever that my dad gave me since he is always gone on business trips and never home. I was watching the clouds out the window waiting to arrive at the preschool. I wanna make a best friend there and talk to them everyday. "Reina honey we're here, come on let's go and do you remember everything I told you right?" She said this while helping me out of my car seat and putting me on the ground to walk. "Yess mommy I remember everything you told me." I said as I was putting my backpack on and holding Lyly. 
   I got Inside of the preschool and there was only like 15 kids that were around my age, my mom told me that this preschool was really tiny and not a lot of people go here. I was okay with that I didn't really want to be surrounded by that many people anyways. There was three teachers they introduced themselves to me their names were, Ms Rosie, Mrs Bella, and Mr Yuu. Ms Rosie was skinny and tall, she had long black hair and had a very soft soothing voice. Mrs Bella was a little chubby and short, with short brown hair and her voice was very cheerful. Mr Yuu was skinny really tall and had a bowl cut with black hair his voice was very deep and raspy. They were really nice, so after I met them I went to the play area because it was play time and I was standing there with Lyly in my hands all the kids were playing with each other but there was this one kid who was playing by himself in the corner with his toy cars. I seemed really interested with him so I went up to him and asked if he wanted to play with me. He said yes and I was happy he was really nice to me. I then introduced myself "hi my name is Reina, whats yours?" I said to the boy. "Hi my name is Gray." He said back.
   After that we were playing and then all of a sudden me and him noticed something. We both say at the same time "Hey, wait isn't that a key..." ~find out what happens next on the next chapter of  Crimson Ashes.~

Six kids were born on the same night with keys. In this urban legend it was fate that brought them together. They have to find each other to complete the curse. They have bad luck for the rest of their life if they don't find each other and everything will slowly fall apart. Will they be able to find each other and get away from their bad luck or will they die by the curse of the keys.

"Hope Preschool… Hope Preschool… Hope Preschool…" Heero kept muttering as he held a flyer. He was looking for Hope Preschool as he really decided to be a preschool teacher.

There were many factors Heero decided to take this job. There was no need for a complicated requirement or certificate things. There was no need for him to master the weird technologies. Moreover, he also fond of children.

For now, this was the most suitable job for him in this foreign world. Though the flyer looked unconvincing, Heero still wanted to give a try. As for the pay, Heero was still not clear about the currencies in this world.

However, for a school in the outermost city, the pay of 800 WD was not big or even maybe below average. The district at the outermost city was the worst, but it still did not reach a slum level yet. The building was still decent, but it was still far worse compared to the inner city.

Heero however did not mind staying and working here. Even though the air was bad and sometimes he would smell a weird smell, this was not the worst place in his opinion. In Dramonia, there were still many places that were worse than here.

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap!

Heero stopped at a colorful building. This place stood out compared to the other buildings. There were garden and playground, though the garden was really something. It almost could not be called a garden, Barren Land was maybe the right choice to describe the garden. On top of the entrance, there were two words made of steel, Hope Preschool.

Hope Preschool was easy to find as it near the North gate of Star City. Most people who lived in the North was speaking in Chinese. There would be no problem to communicate with the people here.

Heero opened the gate and entered Hope Preschool. Right in the front of the building, there was a fat middle-aged man sleeping. He was sleeping on the bench with his head looked up to the ceiling.

"Excuse me!"

Heero tried to wake the fat-middle aged man in Chinese. But the fat middle-aged did not even budge, he slept soundly.

"Tsk!"

Knowing the fat middle-aged man would not wake up no matter how many times he called, Heero got his head closer to the fat middle-aged man's neck. Afterward, he blew the fat middle-aged man's neck.

"Eyaahhh!" The fat middle-aged jolted awake as he rubbed his cold neck. Yes, the blow was not an ordinary blow, Heero used his Ki and made the blow chilly which instantly woke the fat middle-aged man.

"Uuh!! What is it? What is it just now?" The fat middle-aged man tried to look at the source of chilly wind. He felt the chilly wind was unusual. However, he could only find a young man right before him, a good looking young man.

The fat middle-aged man immediately got up which caused the excess fat on his belly dancing up and down.

"Oh, hello, I am the security of Hope Preschool, Pan Liang. Do you want to pick your… sister?" Fatty Liang greeted Heero politely. As the young man looked like in his twenty, Fatty Liang was not sure if the young man would have a daughter in his age. That was why he said if the young man wanted to pick his little sister.

Moreover, he also did not recognize this young man. He was familiar with the child's parents, but this was the first time Fatty Liang met this young man.

"Oh, no! I am not picking up my sister!" Heero waved his hand to Fatty Liang as he found Fatty Liang misunderstood him.

"I am here for this!" Then, Heero showed a flyer.

Fatty Liang got closer to the flyer. And then, he realized he misunderstood the young man. The young man came here for the job. After that, Fatty Liang scanned Heero from the top to bottom. Before he was polite, now he turned suspicious.

Meanwhile, Heero was used to this. Yes, the clothes on him were totally different from the people in this city. The clothes he wore attracted many people before, they had the same gaze as Fatty Liang, suspicion and curiosity.

"You are from outside?" Fatty Liang started his job as security. Heero was really looked suspicious with his attire. Moreover, recently, there were many cases of kidnapping and the target was the children.

"Yes, I am from outside and I am here looking for a job!" Heero replied.

"Oh, My name is Xing Heero!" Heero introduced himself to the fatty.

Fatty Liang frowned, "What a weird name!"

In the end, Fatty Liang could not make the decision for the school. Even though Heero looked suspicious, but somehow, the vibe Heero gave him was kind and amiable. However, as veteran security, Fatty Liang could not let his guard down.

"Wait here! I will call the teacher!" Fatty Liang still could not trust Heero.

Heero also aware, but he could do nothing. If he tried to prove he was a good person or the like. It would only make Fatty Liang even more suspicious. There was no good person admitted himself or herself was a good person openly, it would only make the others suspicious.

Fatty Liang entered the school and Heero took a seat on the bench as he waited for Fatty Liang.

It did not take a long time before Fatty Liang coming back. There was a middle-aged woman followed him. Heero could not guess her age based on her appearance. This was another thing confused Heero.

If this was Dramonia, this middle-aged woman supposed to be in the sixties to the eighties. But on Earth, eighty years old woman was the same as a granny in 120 years old on Dramonia.

It could be said, the people on Earth were short-lived compared to the people on Dramonia.

"Oyaah!" The middle-aged woman surprised upon seeing Heero. Heero was so young and also handsome. She just could not believe a young man like Heero was looking for a job in the outermost city.

"Are you sure you want to be a teacher here?" The middle-aged woman asked.

Heero could feel the difference between the middle-aged woman's gaze and the people he often met on the street. The middle-aged woman's gaze did not contain curiosity or suspicion, but she genuinely surprised. Though Heero did not know why she was so surprised.

"Yes, I am sure!" Heero answered enthusiastically. This was his first job, he was so excited.

"Good, you look healthy and cheerful. You have a good prospect as a preschool teacher."

The middle-aged woman voiced something unrelated to the job. Healthy and cheerful, Heero wondered if these things related to his job as a teacher. Though he thought so, Heero did not show it on his face. Instead, he nodded his head enthusiastically.

"Good! It's decided, you are accepted to work here as a teacher. You can start working tomorrow!" The middle-aged woman tapped Heero's shoulder enthusiastically.

Heero himself did not know why the middle-aged woman accepted him just like this. But he did not care, he got a job, a normal job he wanted. Heero's face was beaming with joy and hugged the middle-aged woman.

"Thank you, Aunty!"

"Hehe, good spirit, good spirit!" The middle-aged woman tapped Heero's back.

"But don't call me Aunty, you can call me Teacher Lin. Come here before 7 am, don't be late on your first day!" The middle-aged woman reminded.

"Good, Teacher Lin! I will not late, I promise!"

Heero nodded his head and head out of the Hope Preschool.

Meanwhile, Fatty Liang had unbelievable look on his face. He did not expect for Teacher Lin to accept Xing Heero, the suspicious person just like that. He thought with the help of Teacher Lin, a woman with a long experience could help him to dig a bit of information about the young man.

If Heero became unbelievably happy, Fatty Liang was unbelievably worried.

"Teacher Lin, are you not suspicious about that young man? How can you accept him just like that?" Fatty Liang questioned Teacher Lin.

He was the only security here. If there was an accident that happened in the school, he would hold the main responsibility as the main and the only security here.

"Tch, tch, tch!" Teacher Lin shook her head in disappointment as her response toward Fatty Liang, "Fatty Liang, you still need to learn more for me!"

"How come a young man with an aura like that is a bad person? There are really many things you should learn from me, Fatty Liang!"

Teacher Lin tapped Fatty Liang's left shoulder two times and entered the building, leaving speechless Fatty Liang at the entrance.

"Aura? What aura? It's fucking bullish*t aura again!" Fatty Liang cussed.

"Look like I have to work harder tomorrow, I have to keep on watch that young man!" Fatty Liang sighed as he thought his peaceful job as security would come to an end soon.

Whoosh!

"Fatty, I am going home!"

Then there was a little girl bypassed him. The little girl was running, wearing a plain blue shirt and blue skirt, and has her hair tied into twin-tail. Fatty Liang recognized the little girl, she was his friend's daughter.

"Oi! Don't run or you will be tripped…" Despite the shout from him, the little girl kept running and giggling.

"Also, you should call me Uncle Liang…" Fatty Liang added frustratedly.

Meanwhile, Heero who was so happy as he got an appropriate job standing still not far from the Hope Preschool. He was in deep thought.

Earlier, he was so excited as he got his first job and just left the school without much thought. But he remembered Teacher Lin said to come before 7 am. However, Heero did not know what did 7 am meant.

"Should I go back and ask Teacher Lin?" 

Bugh!

At the same time, Heero heard something fell right beside him. And then, it accompanied with a child cry.

"Waaaahhh…!"

Heero saw there was a little girl wearing blue clothes and a red backpack fell right beside him.

Heero immediately picked the little girl from the ground and asked, "Are you okay?"

He asked a stupid question. He also realized the question was stupid, a little girl fell and cried, of course, she was not okay and he still asked like that.

"Hurt… hurt…" The little girl was crying as she pointed toward her knee. The left knee was bruised and the right knee was bleeding.

Heero subconsciously moved his hand to the little girl's right knee. He wanted to use his Ki to stop the bleeding and lessen the pain. However, his hand stopped his hand in the midair. After further thought, he took out a box made of bamboo from his clothes.

He opened the box and there were many golden round pills inside the box. He took one and gave it to the little girl.

"Here you are, eat this. This is sweets and if you eat this, the pain will go away!" Heero offered the golden pill with a gentle smile.

The little girl stopped crying and her teary eyes shone as she looked at the golden pill.

"Can I really take it? But my father said don't accept anything from a stranger! Big Brother, I can't take it!"

To Heero's surprise, the little girl refused the golden pill. He could see the little girl really wanted to take the golden pill.

"It's okay, it's just sweet! Also, this sweet can make the pain go away, lho~"

"Really!?" The little girl still hesitated.

Heero nodded his head with a gentle smile.

In the end, the little girl took the golden pill. She really could not refuse the temptation of the sweet aroma from the golden pill. She put the golden pill in her mouth and her pained face turned into happiness.

"It's really sweets~," The little girl thought happily.

Of course, it was just not a normal sweet. It was medicine for kids. The golden color outer pill was honey.

"Where do you live? I will deliver your home!" As Heero was afraid the little girl would fall again, he decided to deliver her home.

"My home is not far, there!" The little girl pointed her finger to a district which was not far from their location.

Heero took the little girl's hand and walked toward the district the little girl pointed out. The little girl had her guard down as she enjoyed the sweet in her mouth and followed Heero.

The district was not far, it only took a while before they entered the district. Apparently, the little girl's house was in the middle district. When both almost reached the middle district, Heero heard a ruckus ahead of him.

He saw there were five men surrounding a woman. The five men seemed to be threatening the woman as they tried to drag the woman with them. There were also many people watched this incident, but no one tried to help the surrounded woman. They just watched the event unfolded like that from the sideline.

At the most unfortunate day which also the luckiest day for Xing Heero, his village was attacked by a specter. He lost family, his childhood sweetheart, he lost everything. However, on the same day, the strongest man called Saint picked him up as his disciple.

After years of training under the strongest man, Saint. To fulfill his Grandfather's dream to be a Great Hero, Heero started his career as a Hero. Heero was determined to kill specter and would not let any child experienced the same experience as him.

However, maybe he had used all his luck to get the strongest man as his Master. Somehow, all of his achievement was stolen by the other heroes. The unfortunate event kept happening to Heero which led all of his achievement being robbed by the other Heroes.

In the last of his unfortunate event, he tried to kill God Specter, but it only ended him up sealed in Eternal Ice. The last moment before Heero lost consciousness, he vowed he would retire as Hero.

"Father! Mother! I will be obedient! I will stop to be Hero and continue our family line, please release me from this Eternal Ice!"

Kyle and Otis had arrived on a Friday, so they spent the weekend indoors doing nothing in particular. Otis had warmed up to his grandmother, and now called out to her and spoke using the few words he knew.

     "You're up. Is your grandma awake?" Kyle asked as he spotted his three-year-old wander into the kitchen in pajamas.

     "No, nana's sleeping," he muttered in a low voice heading for the long sofa before climbing on top of it and cuddling up with the duvet that had been forgotten in the living room the night before. The young boy had begun to sleep in his grandmother's room while Kyle stayed alone in the attic room that was his when he was a kid. Otis didn't say anything after that, he just stared at the cartoons playing from a DVD on the old tele.

     Kyle didn't mind that Otis had moved to stick close to his grandmother. It was how it was supposed to be. She was the one who knew how to bath him properly and cook meals. She was also able to entertain his childish curiosity and play, a fit that only frustrated Kyle. He knew how to talk to adults, and to an extent, almost adults, but he didn't know how to talk to children at all. He didn't know any blokes like himself who could, so he tried not to beat himself up about it.

     Otis was an on the whim child. Kyle had gotten married to the woman of his dreams, and following the pattern often expected of married couples, they decided to have a child together. Kyle hadn't realized he little he knew his own child until Anastasia left and he couldn't afford preschool and babysitting services. His son was a stranger in many ways, but he was still his son none the less, and Kyle would put in an effort to ease their relationship since the boy's mother had just up and left.

     "Do you know you're going to school today?" Kyle asked, looking from the cup of coffee he was making to his son that was still transfixed by the television.

     "School?" he said, looking over at Kyle. "But we're on holiday," the little boy said with wide eyes.

     Kyle stopped himself from rolling his eyes. Otis' diction annoyed Kyle a bit, and he wasn't sure if it was because he still felt a bit conscious about his own rural accent that never really went away, or if it was because the British accent just sounded so out of place. It hinted at the preppy preschool Otis used to go to before, as well as the cartoons Anastasia made him watch.

     "Yes school," Kyle muttered, stirring the contents in his mug the last time before walking to join Otis on the sofa. It was around seven in the morning, and Kyle had to drop Otis off at the preschool before ten. He had gone to see the place with his mother when he had accompanied her to the grocery store, she maintained. They had filled the registration form after taking a look around.

     "I'll meet Ms. Tess?" Otis asked, and Kyle shook his head, using his free hand to pat Otis' head. The young boy seemed shocked by the reaction and closed his eyes as well as tense up.

     "No, you're going to a new school," Kyle said, watching Otis' eyes for a reaction.

     "New school?"

     "Yes."

      "Oh, okay," Otis muttered as his eyes moved back to the T.V. the gist of new schools and teachers losing his attention.

      Kyle's mother got up soon after and went about giving Otis a bath and making him breakfast. Kyle waited in the living room, prepared to take Otis to school on his first day. His plans after that were simple. He'd work around the house and fix things his mother couldn't get about calling a repairman for before he took a look at his old man's mechanic workshop so that he could draw up a plan to bring it back to life. He also had plans of visiting his father's grave, but that could wait until later into his stay.

     Kyle remembered working with his father after school and through the weekend. He was expecting to be overwhelmed by nostalgia and sadness when about decluttering it. The old man had meant a lot to him, and it stung to know that he couldn't be with him through his last days of extreme pain. He also wasn't able to make it to his funeral—the way he couldn't make it to anything for the past five years.

     "Be safe, have a nice first day." Were Kyle's mother's parting words as Kyle drove out into the road. Otis waved at his grandmother from the back seat in his carrier chair before pressing his hands and face against the car window as his father drove on. There wasn't much to see. Newfront wasn't urban or suburbia, and it was mostly empty planes of land for the most part.

     There were more farm animals than people.

     There were a lot of cows and a lot of horses.

     Kyle used to like bothering the horses as a kid.

     They got closer to the main town hub when started to drive by buildings in shorter intervals. Kyle drove his range rover past the 'busy' streets of the town. Some people stared at the car with confusion, and other people seemed to know who he was since they waved. Kyle tried not to look at anyone, and he kept his eyes on the road until he made it to the building that housed the local preschool.

      The preschool shared a building with daycare and the town's post office. An odd combination. Kyle remembered the old post office. The building had been explained as well as having two floors added to it. The preschool was on the top floor. It had looked a bit sketchy to Kyle, but Kyle's mother assured him it was a good place for Otis.

     "Come on, let's go," Kyle said when he turned the car off and opened the doors. He went to the back to pick Otis up from his seat as well as picking up his day back. He shut the backseat door before pressing the lock on his car keys.

     At first, Kyle wasn't sure where to go, but he spotted a woman with a child that looked just about Otis' age walking into the building. He followed with Otis, climbing up the stairs behind her until they got the top floor. A lady was at the door talking to women as their kids slipped past through them and into the preschool. Kyle stood behind the women with Otis' bag in one hand and the other holding on to his son's left hand.

     No one seemed to notice him until the person at the door—who Kyle assumed was one the two teachers his mother talked about—looked past the ladies she was talking to and locked eyes with him.

     "Oh, you're the new dad!" she said, making the two women with dark brown hair turn to look at him as well.

     Kyle didn't say anything, but he nodding, moving closer since the ladies parted for him.

     "Sorry for ignoring you. I didn't notice you were there," the preschool teacher said before turning her green eyes to Otis.

     "Otis?" she said before grinning at the young boy, and like was with strangers, Otis just stayed quiet and stared at the floor.

     "He's shy," she said, looking back up at Kyle, her shoulder-length black hair bouncing a bit with the motion.

     "Yes, he is," Kyle confirmed, squeezing Otis' hand a bit.

     The teacher didn't seem fazed by that though, she just kept smiling. "He'll open up soon. I'm thinking you should go in with him and talk to Chaska. Maybe he'll be less shy if you stick around for a few minutes," she said, and Kyle nodded, assuming this Chaska person was the other teacher. He shouldn't be hard to spot in the sea of short kids.

     "Oh, and by the way I'm Gabbie," the woman said, making Kyle stop at the door. Gabbie reached out her hand for a handshake, and Kyle let go of Otis' hand to give it to her before letting go. The woman almost immediately looked away, focusing her attention on the other set of parents that had arrived. Kyle never remembered there being so many children when he was younger. Maybe the unrecognizable farms he saw on his way belonged to families with young children that had moved in not too long ago.

     "Come on," he told his son before grabbing on to his hand and pulling him into the preschool with him. The room they walked into was drowned in color and contrasted with the hallway that had red brick walls and gloomy brown paint.

     Kyle looked around for the only adult he assumed would be in the room and his eyes landed on a sturdy figure that was at the far end of the room looking through papers.

     Kyle raised a brow at the man, confused as to why a person that looked like they could pass for a college gym rat was doing in a room filled with noisy children. Putting the doubt at the back of his mind, Kyle approached him with Otis and stopped to the left of him.

     Now standing closer, Kyle noticed that the man had oddly not looked up at them like someone would do when approached. He kept staring at the papers in his hands as if no one was there. The man had tan skin and a toned body. Kyle could tell enough from his out of place clothes that made him look like he was dressed for a morning jog.

     "Excuse me," Kyle said, losing his patience.

     "Excuse me," he repeated when the man didn't look up. Kyle nibbled on his lower lip, feeling an urge to reach out and tug the teacher's man bun, but he didn't. The man, who was probably a few meters taller than his 5'11 was still ignoring him. His dark eyes were still fixed on the paper in his hands. Kyle thought he had finally been noticed when the man dropped a paper, but he had only done that to bend over to scribble on its side.

     "Excuse me," Kyle said again, this time reaching out to touch the man's arm. The man reacted this time, turning sharply and giving Kyle and Otis a wide-eyed stare.

     He looked genuinely surprised.

     "Gabbie said that we should talk to you. Otis is new." As Kyle said those words he watched as the man cocked his head to the side to face him with his right ear.

     Was he deaf—partially?

     "Okay," the young man said. His voice rang clear and a little loud. It was similar to the voice you'd associate with someone with a lot of confidence, but that didn't look like what was at play here. The man avoided eye contact and didn't look like he was asserting authority. Kyle guessed that a better explanation would be that he was projecting his voice not only for other people to hear but for himself to hear as well.

     "You must be Otis," he went on to say, squatting so that he was on the same level with Kyle's son. Kyle wasn't sure whether he should be insulted about the man just going ahead to speak with his son instead of him first, but the direct interaction seemed to corner Otis into talking, and that was a mighty fit.

     "Should I just drop his bag and heads out?" Kyle asked, showing that he was still there, watching the two that had drifted on to a discussion about the class pet hamster and what coloring books they were going to be using in class. Kyle wasn't sure how other adults could be genuinely interested in a discussion like this, but he'd watched teachers, his mother—women in general just seem to fall in line with children. Maybe it was an archaic way to think, but Kyle just felt like it was something of a woman's nature. But here, a man was right in front of him, doing everything he couldn't do and had blamed on him not naturally being cut off for it because of his gender.

     "Drop them at the cupboards at the end. You can leave now, I think Otis will like it here," the man said, looking at Kyle briefly before turning to smile at Otis who smiled back. He looked excited. His new teacher must have promised him a lot.

     "Will do," Kyle said, waving bye at his son after dropping off his bag. He left through the exit but didn't head down the stairs immediately. Debbie was still at the door, but she was alone, so Kyle thought it wouldn't harm to ask her a question.

     "Is Chaska deaf?" Kyle asked before Debbie could ask him how things went.

     "Yes, fully on the left, partially on the right," she explained, tapping her left and right ears. It looked like it was a situation she was used to explaining.

     "Oh."

     "Don't worry about it, he's great at reading lips," she said, giving Kyle a little smile. She must have assumed he was worried about how that would play out with the children.

     "He's great with kids. Otis is talking to him, and Otis barely talks to strangers," Kyle said, wanting to tell Gabbie, but without directly telling her, that he wasn't worried about Chaska with the kids.

     Debbie's smile went from forced to genuine and he nodded in agreement. "Yes, he's wonderful with kids!"

     "Have a safe trip now." Kyle heard her voice say as he turned away and started heading down the stairs.

     Even when Kyle got home and started emptying out his father's shed, he still couldn't get the interaction between Chaska and his son out of his head. Chaska was a man, and Kyle was a man. What made Chaska better with kids than him?

     With a sigh, Kyle wheeled out the last spare tire in the workshop. He was started to think he had run out of excuses for being a shitty parent.

                                      End of chapter 1







Right before school was about to end, Cheng Zhiyan punctually arrived at the school gates to wait for Xiaotu. Since he himself was still only a child, he stood out among the crowd of grandpas and grandmas waiting to pick up their grandchildren. Since he was such a fresh-faced, handsome young boy, the grandpas and grandmas couldn't resist coming up to talk with him. They all asked him lots of questions.
"Sweetie, are you here to pick someone up as well?"
"Uh, huh." Cheng Zhiyan nodded affirmatively.
"Are you here to pick up your younger brother or younger sister?"
"Younger sister."
"Well, well, you're such a helpful young child. Where are the adults in your family?"
"Working."
"Oh my, what a lucky family. One boy, one girl, and the eldest one is so well brought up."
Cheng Zhiyan lifted his head and silently glanced around at the grandpas and grandmas who surrounded him. Then he moved away from them to the place closest to the school entrance, where he waited in silence.
It was noon in the middle of summer. The sun was beating down with scorching heat, and the ground seemed as if it was being burned up by the sun. The guard, who had been standing in the communication room, finally slowly opened the gates to the preschool and shouted to everyone waiting outside the gates, "School has ended, you all can go in now."
Since he was young and agile, Cheng Zhiyan was the first one to walk in.
The kindergarten was empty. Only those in the advanced section of the preschool were here today.
Cheng Zhiyan walked to the door of the preschool class, and, as soon as he pushed open the door, a small figure rushed toward him.
"Brother Orange Juice!" Xiaotu was crying as she ran toward him, and then she lunged at Cheng Zhiyan with all her might.
The scene before him, for some inexplicable reason, made Cheng Zhiyan's heart ache a little, yet also appeared somewhat amusing.
He stooped down, using both hands to hug the soft and fluffy Xiaotu as he felt her fluffy head rubbing back and forth against his shoulders. He asked her in a gentle voice, "Be a good girl and tell me why you're crying."
WAH! WAH! WAH! "Brother Orange Juice, I thought you weren't going to come pick me up…" Both of Xiaotu's hands were tightly wrapped around Cheng Zhiyan's neck, and her tears fell into the collar of his shirt.
The drops of cold tears fell on Cheng Zhiyan's body and instantly seeped into his soft heart without him even realizing it.
"How come you thought I wouldn't come to pick you up?" Cheng Zhiyan gazed at her in amusement, then reached his hand out to tousle her hair as he said in a low voice, "Didn't we already agree that I'll send you off when school starts and pick you up when school ends?"
WAH! WAH! WAH! "I don't want to go to preschool anymore. Preschool isn't fun. Brother Orange Juice isn't in preschool…" Upon seeing Cheng Zhiyan stand up, Xiaotu quickly grabbed his arm and continued complaining pitifully.
"Every child must go to preschool." Cheng Zhiyan gazed at her helplessly.
In reality, coaxing children wasn't something he was particularly good at, not to mention the fact that this was really the first time he'd ever seen Xiaotu cry so hysterically.
"No! No! I don't want to go to preschool." Xiaotu cried uncontrollably as she yanked Cheng Zhiyan's arm.
"You can meet a lot of new children in preschool, and you can become friends with them." After racking his brains for a while, he finally managed to come up with a benefit of attending preschool.
"No! The only thing preschool children know how to do is cry! They cried all day long..." WAH! WAH!
"..."
As he watched the tears stream down Xiaotu's face, Cheng Zhiyan wanted to say what he was actually thinking inside: All you know how to do is cry as well, and today you probably cried all day long too. Am I right?

The ten year old Cheng Zhiyan was diligent and studious, yet upon hearing these three questions, first he was stunned, then he quickly ran away...

Day by day trickled by and seasons changed. Charlie was growing bigger every day as was his long time friend Sam. Both of them seemed to have inherited their father's growing gene, who are the tallest two members of the friend group, making it unsurprising that both Charlie and Sam had exceeded the average height for their age group. So, when the time came for them start attending preschool, which they were early with to begin with, they looked like they were about to start kindergarten instead. For both mothers and both children, the first day was an exciting day but a day they got through without any hick-ups. Each of them dealing with the early start of this next phase in their own way.
Though they would be starting at the same time, the reason for the early admission into preschool differed between the two boys. Jenny wanted Charlie to attend as early as possible so that he could properly develop his social skills to prevent him from having to stay behind a year later on. This concern came from the certainty that he would be allowed to skip grades once he would start attending 'real' school and most kids that were allowed to skip had trouble adjusting later on because they lacked the time to work on their social skills. In some cases they would be kept behind for a year during later stages of their educational path, making their initial skipping of a grade become void.
In Elizabeth's case, she had her hands full on Sam. He was a very chatty and happy child and in constant need of a playmate. Having social skills that exceeded his age, he was perfectly able to make friends and be entertained by them. But she couldn't exactly leave a child his age to roam around on his own. So, she felt that having him start preschool early on, would benefit all of them. Sam because he would get plenty of opportunities to make friends and find some candidates for playdates, her and nick because it would relieve them of some of the Sam entertaining business and friend-making chaperoning. 
Once the two boys, who were enrolled into the same preschool and ended up in the same class, got past the scary first day, they started liking it more and more. Even Charlie got more used to being among strangers twice a week. Surprising all that knew him on how fast he was able to accept this new normal. For both families more time freed up with the boys being away for a few hours two days in a week. But especially for the grandparents, who were the ones that did most of the watching during the day, noticed this change. Especially in Jason and Jenny's case Susan had been the one doing a lot of the watching because the two of them were both out of the house for more than forty hours a week. 
Though instead of the grandparents being happy, they quickly started to miss the lost time with their grandsons. Each of them already dreading the moment that they would be going to kindergarten and their time together would be reduced even more. From here on out, with each next step in their grandsons' lives, their time with them would get reduced further and further. Making them want to savour these moments even more instead of considering them a bother. But as it was for their grandsons' good, they kept these sad feelings inside and focused on the good. Among which were the cheerful stories the boys brought back home and their happy smiles.

From the first day of preschool to the first day of kindergarten. It seemed to have come in flash. Which was indeed the case as the two boys were each gifted in their own ways. Allowing them to start kindergarten just six months after they had started attending preschool. So, when Jenny started her last year at med-school, Charlie and Sam started their first day at kindergarten. Jenny was in full paparazzo and fangirling mode when she went to drop her son off with Jason. Making use of them being extra early, taking the time before the crowd of other parents and children got here, to take as many pictures as she could. Where preschool was more of a necessity for his own good, him advancing to kindergarten so soon filled her with feelings of pride more than anything. 
As usual Jason just let her be while shaking his head in amusement while this was going down. Even playing along when Jenny wanted to have pictures of him and Charlie together and one with them as a family. Despite the many pictures she had taken back at home. Charlie was wearing the adorable kindergarten uniform of his school and had his darling little backpack on his back. He was looking at Jenny like his dopey, aloof self even though she was convinced he was nervous on the inside. Because although both of the boys would be starting kindergarten, Charlie would be starting out in the second year of kindergarten right off the bat. Meaning he would be in elementary school starting next year at the age of only four. Three years before his age. Though he was allowed to skip kindergarten altogether, Jenny and Jason had decided against it as they already knew he was intellectually gifted. The reason for his early attendance of preschool was so he could develop his social skills more and skipping most of preschool and all of kindergarten would defeat their initial purpose.
So, while Charlie was waiting to enter another new environment just after he had accepted the first one, Jenny was trying to accept how her little boy was growing up way too fast while being so impressed with him at the same time. Jenny was just about to take another picture when a few familiar faces started approaching them. These faces of course belonged to Sam along with his parents. They were approaching the front gate of the school and once they had all greeted each other, the two boys went inside while holding hands as both mothers' hearts melted. They couldn't imagine being able to witness something more adorable and wholesome than that but with all the other parents around, they tried to contain themselves. Sharing their excitement with each other after they got in one of their cars while going through the many pictures on their phones.

Jason seems like your typical rich guy. With money to spare, looks to kill and a heart breaker like no other, he seems to be lacking nothing. But why is everyone so terrified of him? Why won't anyone dare mention his name? That is until he meets his match. She breaks down his walls one by one and he is powerless around her.
