Hao Xuan coldly stared at the dark robbed trader that looked like a shady character from a video game. Occasionally a slithering sound like that of snakes moving across human skin would come from his face. 
Even Poriverse had never seen these traders in person. His every interaction happened through intermediaries, slaves that he sent on his behalf. Out of all the roaches, it was these traders that were the most mysterious even more so than the House Lords and Emperors that controlled their entire race. 
Poriverse had guessed traders were an anomaly, an unexpected evolution within the roach species, something that should not normally exist. He had been quite curious about them and wanted to study them in detail but never got the chance. 
And with Hao Xuan having inherited most of his memories and thoughts was equally intrigued. 
The trader's body trembled once before he regained his once again. 
"The most sincerest of apologies esteemed customer, I was not aware you were acquainted with the House elders," he said humbly, even bowing from the waist which was not usually accepted in their culture. They could only bow in front of the Altar and to no one else. 
But in human society, it wasn't such a big deal. Obviously he was an informed and educated individual.
He straightened his back once again, well, as much as it would straighten and continued in a much more respectful tone.
"I belong to the House of The Obsidian Nebula, dear customer. Does esteemed customer know anyone from our house? If so I could give you a discount if you could give me their identification number."
Hao Xuan unconsciously broke out in a somewhat sinister smile but hid it almost instantly. Normally traders would never give discounts. They worked on commission from each sale so it made a huge part of their own profits. It didn't matter who a person knew (unless of course it was royalty they were acquainted with) they would never get a discount. 
The trader giving Hao Xuan a discount now meant three things. 
One, he was trying to see how high in the house Hao Xuan's reach went and thereby find his identity. There weren't a lot of humans that were allowed to do business with them so he would surely be known somewhere by someone. 
Two, the discount he was offering did not exist. The difference would be coming out of his own pocket.
Third, he probably crossed a line and was sent to this planet as a punishment. 
This guy was obviously not an amateur judging from his fluent language, humble mannerisms and reaction to Hao Xuan speaking their mother tongue. 
He most probably pissed someone very high up off or committed a crime and was here on a "forced vacation". He would barely find any customers here and in turn, barely make any money himself. 
But Hao Xuan wasn't going to let this opportunity go either. He recalled some of the individuals Poriverse knew or heard off. Only one of them was in the House of the Obsidian Nebula. So with a stone-cold expression, he replied.
"It's been a long time since I met with anyone from the Houses," he lied through his teeth, intentionally trying to mystify himself as much as possible. "Is that kid Mirek still doing well? Last time I met with him he wanted me to build him a new starship but I didn't have time so only gave him a few suggestions."
Hao Xuan sounded like he was recalling some old memories, his gaze softening a tad bit. Mirek was a young roach Royal from Obsidian Nebula House Poriverse met with the first time he went to talk to the house lord of the House of the Black Serpent. 
Back then he wasn't anything special, quite a lazy guy in reality. Poriverse ignored him for the most part. He liked to travel and went all over the place so pestered Poriverse for a new ship design until he gave him some scraps.
Hao Xuan intentionally chose someone low-key because it would be trouble if he named a famous person, especially someone that was still up and about. Considering Poriverses's interaction with him was more than ten to fifteen thousand years ago, he should have long passed away even with the roach's long lifespans. 
The trader froze for a second. It wasn't for long but enough for Hao Xuan to notice.
"Y-Yes, Great Lord Mirek is doing well, I will let him know a friend of his came to me, he will be very happy," the trader replied energetically, but Hao Xuan's heart almost skipped a beat. 
'Motherfucker! That kid's still alive?!?'
But Hao Xuan didn't let his panic show. He cleared his throat before continuing. 
"O-Oh, how has he been doing? It's been a while since I last saw him. Is he still running around that crappy ship I gave him? What did he call it, rose something?"
'There was no way he would have kept the same ship for so long....right?'
But hearing Hao Xuan's words, the trader's body visibly shook once again and he backed up a step. The excitement he was feeling just a second suddenly vanished, replaced by a seed of doubt. The ship Hao Xuan mentioned was pretty famous. Mirek had had it since he was a child and many people even made fun of him for it, behind his back of course. 
He looked up and peered at Hao Xuan from the corner of his eye. This human looked extremely young and wasn't even older than himself, so how could he be talking about something like this? The obvious answer was he was bluffing! But he didn't let it show and continued to act surprised and happy.
"He is doing great! Lord Mirek recently broke through to the next realm and is now a contender for the next House Lord! And Lord Mirek's, 'Rose Petal' vessel has gone through many changes. It is now a deep space travel vessel that he uses personally," the trader sounded like he was about to pass out from the excitement. Little did he knew Hao Xuan was much in the same condition. 
"Hmmm," Hao Xuan nodded satisfactorily and smiled stiffly for the first time like he was hearing about an old friend. 
But his heart was about to burst out of his chest.
'Sweet baby Jesus! That lazy fuckwad is in line for House Lord??! Fucking hell, time really is the best teacher! And he still has the ship?!'
From what Hao Xuan knew from Poriverse's memories, House Lord's cultivation was immeasurably deep. They were at the same level as actual gods!
If Mirek knew his name was being thrown about here, he would probably not be very happy. 
Hao Xuan took in a deep breath and calmed himself down as much as he could but a storm was brewing in his chest. He was starting to sweat under the mask. 
"Good good. I'll have to pay him a visit when I'm done here with my business. Don't tell him anything yet, I want to surprise him. Plus I'm working for a new client so don't want information getting out," he quickly made up an excuse but it only made the trader doubt him more. 
Under his robe, the trader grabbed onto a small black ball, ready to throw it out instantly. 
Hao Xuan looked straight towards the trader, where his eyes would be under the hood. 
"Only you know I'm here, this information better not leak out, understand?" he was trying to sound authoritative but his voice quivered a couple of times during the sentence. 
Unfortunately, the trader was looking for a reason and tightened his grasp around the black ball. 'One more reason, give me one more reason!''
He swiftly bowed once again.
"Of course respected Sir!" 
Hao Xuan went from an esteemed guest to respected sir. At this point both of them wanted to end this interaction as soon as possible. 
"Good," Hao Xuan nodded plainly and waved his hand. 
"Bring me the inventory you have here, whatever you have for sale. I'm short on time. I need both goods and information, whatever you are allowed to give."
The trader was waiting for that and quickly jumped up in joy. 
"Yes sir!" 
He went towards a pile nearby and took out a glass panel with a metal frame. This was like a mini quantum computer that was connected to their entire network. 
"Please enter your information here, respected sir," he said passing it to Hao Xuan. 
This computer would find Hao Xuan's identity and if there were any inconsistencies, he would attack at once.

The world ended in 2012. Hao Xuan was transported to a brand new place along with the rest of humanity. The novel follows his adventures through this vast new plane, fighting men and beasts alike, making friends, finding love and etching out his own existence in the vast universe. All the monsters from your dreams, stories, and movies are real in this fantastical place. 

Authors Note: I know its a bit slow at the start, my objective is to paint a complete picture of what's happening around Hao Xuan. His and his companion's reactions will be as realistic as possible.
 
I'm planning on building up to great wars and massacres where many new and powerful characters will be unveiled. I want you guys to feel connected to them so its gonna be a bit wordy. 

And I know it might seem like things have taken a big turn out of nowhere around chapter 14, but I assure you that if you keep reading, it will ALL make sense (around chap 92 I believe is where its explained).
Remember, EVERYTHING is connected, more or less. The most insignificant things could have a huge impact on the story or the biggest thing could not influence at all, at least not from what you can see.

The whole point of the novel is for you to be as surprised as the main character, feel what he is feeling etc, so some things have to be kept hidden.

My advice, relax, put on some good music and read, its gonna be an "experience" if I can get my vision out to you guys properly. 
This is one of those novels that is more enjoyable when read all at once.

"Should we change back to our human forms, so the natives don't freak?" asked Olivia as they sat in their seats, staring at the people in front of the ship.
"That probably wouldn't hurt, but I hate the idea of being as helpless as a human."
Dustin was eyeing their fur clothes and primitive spears.  Had humanity really fallen this far?  He didn't like it.
"Then don't be.  As long as we look human, that should be good enough."  Olivia turned to look at her PED, then glanced up at him with a frown.
"What's wrong?" he asked, looking down at his own PED.  It looked fine.
"There's something wrong."
"Like what?" he looked at her PED, but it seemed fine too.  It was working just fine when they left the space station.
"How the hell am I supposed to know?  You're the one who's good with gizmos!"  She huffed at him and he sighed.
'PED, change my outward appearance to that of a normal human.'
(INITIATING EVOLUTION)
(ERROR: FAILSAFE HAS BEEN APPLIED.  UNABLE TO COMPLETE EVOLUTION.)
The whole tone of voice changed and it went back to that of a monotone mechanical voice.  The entire personality it had started to develop was gone.
"What now?" he growled, tapping the device.
"See?"  Olivia sat back and watched the people as they sat watching the ship.  Dustin wondered briefly if they could see inside, and figured they probably couldn't.  The windows normally had a protective film on them to keep the harmful radiation from penetrating inside the ship, and that usually caused a mirror effect.
'PED, removed the scale plate over the PED, so I can access you.'
The scale was removed, but there was no answer from the unit.  That worried him as he hooked it up to the computer system of the ship.  After 15 minutes of scanning the error files, he finally figured out what was wrong.
"There's some kind of radiation interference, messing with them."
"What's it coming from, and why didn't it have that on the last planet?" she asked.
Typing a few queries into the computer system, he was able to narrow it down.
"There's a solar flare hitting the planet.  With all of the debris around the planet, it's causing some kind of echo affect, or something.  I don't understand it very well. This sun is different from the last one.  It's odd."
Dustin typed a few more things into the computer, before disconnecting his PED.
'PED, remove failsafe program.'
(UNLOCKING THE FAILSAFE CAN HAVE UNFORESEEN EFFECTS.  PROCEED?)
'Proceed.'
(FAILSAFE HAS BEEN REMOVED.)
The tone of voice had returned to the normal personality from before, and he felt relief course through him.
'PED, change my outward appearance to that of a normal human.'
(INITIATING EVOLUTION)
(THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM. DURING EVOLUTION TO REDUCE SCALES AND PLACE THEM UNDER A HUMAN SKIN, IT SEEMS YOU'VE BECOME ALBINO.  IF YOU ENTER THE SUNLIGHT, YOU MAY BURN. INITIATE EVOLUTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM?)
'Yes!  Fix me!  I can't hide from the sun like some vampire!'
(INITIATING EVOLUTION)
(ALBINISM HAS BEEN FIXED, BUT DURING EVOLUTION, YOUR HAIR HAS GROWN VERY LONG AND YOU SEEM TO HAVE A HUMP ON YOUR BACK.  YOU DON'T NEED TO DRINK WATER FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME)
Dustin checked his arms and hands.  They were no longer pale white.  
"How bad is the hump?" he asked Olivia, turning sideways.  Her eyes were wide as she watched him struggle with his evolutions.
"What is going on?"
Moving his shoulders and swinging his arms, he decided the hump didn't hamper his movements any, so it would be alright for now.
"I told you that there was a solar storm causing some kind of interference with the evolutions.  It initiated a failsafe to keep me from doing any, but when I removed the failsafe, it caused little hiccups in the evolution."
"I'd say!  You look like you have a nose from an ape!  And the color of your eye's makes me think big cat.  I'm not thinking the locals are going to accept you as human looking like that.  Is that a camel hump on your back?"
"Maybe I should try again."
'PED, try again to make me look human, please.'
(INITIATING EVOLUTION)
(YOUR APPEARANCE IS NOW ENTIRELY HUMAN, EXCEPT YOUR HAIR IS BRIGHT ORANGE.)
Turning to Olivia, he held his arms out for her examination.
"Your hair is unique, but not impossible, I guess.  I'm nervous about trying myself."
"You can't pass for human when you look like a lizard."
With a sigh, she turned to her PED.  Her skin grew fur that was spotted, like a leopard's, before it darkened and became longer.  She looked like a bigfoot.
Frowning, she then lost the fur, as it was sucked up, and her skin looked human, only clammy, as if it was aquatic.  She still had no hair, too.  After sighing, she tried again.
Her hair was white, and spiky, but could pass for a cool hairdo.  Her skin looked normal, and her eyes were dark.  They could have almost been black, but well within the realm of possible.
"There, now that we look human, shall we go out and mingle?"  She crossed her arms as he gazed at her naked body in admiration.
"Perhaps, we should look in the storage compartments for some clothes, after we have a little fun?  They've waited this long…" he grinned at her.
They had been naked in their lizard forms, or any other form for that matter, for so long, the need for clothes had slipped their minds, until now.
Several hours later, they finally exited the ship, to find the group of people had swelled to almost fifteen.  The suits didn't fit very well, but they covered them.
"Welcome, travelers.  Do you come looking for slaves, food, lodging, or information?" asked the elder as he stepped forward.
Olivia glanced at him, and he knew that she was going to let him talk.
"How often do you get travelers?"  he looked over the people, and saw nothing technological in anything they had.  But if there were people who did have tech, maybe this was just a place for people who didn't want tech?
"We have visitors every couple of years.  They are overdue this year, but that may be due to the newcomers."
"Newcomers?"
"Yes, they are metal men with four arms.  We haven't had any problems with them so far, but there was fighting amongst them and the last travelers who visited.  Several of the travelers died before they left.  It was rather shocking for us."
"Wait, you mean robots?" asked Olivia, looking at them then back at Dustin.
"I believe that is what the travelers had called them, yes."
The elder's grin stretched over his wrinkled face, happy that he could answer their questions.  Then it faded as his gaze traveled behind them.  The rest of the people faded into the forest and ran away.
Olivia tapped his arm, as her gaze moved past him to the trees behind them.  Turning, he saw a tree that was huge, shudder, as if a large breeze had just slammed into it.  Except there was no breeze.  His brow wrinkled as he tried to place what kind of tree it was, for a moment, then his eyes focused on the figures in the tree.
They were robots all right.  Their metal gleamed whenever a stray beam of light trickled through the leaves of the great tree and hit them.  Their eyes were focused on them, glowing red in the dim shadows.  As they watched, their arms transformed into long blades, and they charged, jumping out of the tree.

Lu Zhiyu looked at the tube of plasma in his hand and felt very hesitant. Even though he had tested this plasma a few times before on lab rats and it had worked every time, the success rate was only close to and not really one hundred percent. Therefore, he was still somewhat anxious to use it on himself.
The tube of plasma he was holding was precisely an evolution plasma, which he named the Sapient Sub-Brain Evolution Plasma. He had added a talent to his existing genes to make himself evolve. Specifically, he wanted to segregate the part of his brain tissues which he was not actively utilizing and develop it into a sub-brain. In addition, he would upload the operation mode of a computer into the sub-brain to improve its computing powers. In this way, he could become as powerful as a computer.
With such a computer-like sub-brain, his ability to learn and his intelligence would be greatly enhanced, which was what Lu Zhiyu wanted at the moment. The sub-brain intelligence would not interfere with the personality and emotions on the main brain. It would be more like adding a chip to his brain. Lu Zhiyu was not interested in superpowers like spewing fire, water, or super strength, and he also felt that such powers would not be very useful to him. Intelligence and the brain is the most powerful weapon to a human after all.
"I have already made it perfect. There's nothing to fear!" he told himself. Then he took a deep breath and pointed the plasma at his spine. His mind power immediately pinpointed the correct position and injected the evolution plasma into his bone marrows. At once, he felt his entire body grow cold, as if his body was experiencing a chain reaction just like a machine. Under the continuous stimulation of the plasma, his bone marrows started making a whole new set of cells to replace the old ones.
After removing all his clothes, Lu Zhiyu stepped into a pool of nutrient fluids that he had prepared and submerged himself in it. In this way, the fluids would provide him with the large amount of nutrients his body needed to evolve.
Lu Zhiyu only woke up after a long while. Once he opened his eyes, he pushed himself up from the pool, panting heavily. He glanced at the few ant-people around him which had been guarding him. Just like robots, these ant-people would only act according to their given tasks. He stood up, dried his body, and wore his clothes back on. Right then, the ant-people carried over some food and water.
After the starved Lu Zhiyu wolfed down a hearty meal, he began to inspect the changes in his body. He realized that other than the structure of his brain, there were no significant changes to his physical body. His brain seemed to have shrunk a little and also become more vigorous. The main brain was fused together with the new sub-brain, forming a perfect arc. Among the pair, the sub-brain actually had a different color; it looked redder and also seemed to be glittering like a piece of metal.
"Sub-brain activated. Permission to activate visual nerves." A voice appeared in Lu Zhiyu's brain.
"Permission granted."
As soon as he agreed, his vision changed greatly, as if he had just opened up a tab on a computer. The vision from his eyes could also be zoomed in and out freely, just like a camera.
Lu Zhiyu knew that he could now use his eyes like a camera, taking images he saw and storing them in his sub-brain. He felt like his entire world had become much clearer, and his brain was working more smoothly as countless new ideas appeared in his mind. Many things which he could not understand before now became easy problems. Similarly, many things which he could not remember before were now clear in his head!
"Sub-brain, create an archive for all the information," he ordered, "and classify them accordingly."
"Order confirmed."
"Sub-brain, create a section for research plans: New Human Creation Plan and Evolution Plasma Creation Plan. Organize the relevant information and research directions for me!"
"Confirmed. New Human Creation Plan has entered phase two and is thirty-two percent complete. Evolution Plasma Creation Plan has entered phase two and is twenty-one percent complete."
"Sub-brain, create…"
After giving a few more orders, Lu Zhiyu disconnected from the sub-brain. Only then, he exited from the robotic and superman-like state. Lu Zhiyu felt that his thoughts were as fast as light just now and he was about to turn into a superman.
With the sub-brain, he could solve problems that would usually take an hour or even a day in a minute. He could finish learning what he would normally need a few days in a minute. He could do many things that he was not able to in just a minute!
It was very liberating and appealing, but terrifying at the same time. Under that state, he could no longer be considered as a human. Such a robotic mind would affect his own personality and emotions.
Lu Zhiyu was glad that he had only wanted to create a sub-brain to assist him in his research plans, instead of changing his entire brain. Although they had roughly the same effects, the outcomes would be totally different. He did not want to become a robot, and still wanted to keep his personality and desires!
With the sub-brain, the New Human Creation Plan progressed very quickly. Before this, he had spent a month only to develop 48 types of genetic inserts. Now with the sub-brain, his speed of reading biology and medicine books increased significantly. The advanced books and academic articles he had placed in the library were already all in his mind.
Using the sub-brain, Lu Zhiyu could list out an endless amount of reference materials at once. Then, he could design many possible paths to try. At the moment, countless biological templates and genetic chains were in front of Lu Zhiyu, blinking and changing their positions rapidly. Lu Zhiyu could use these to design various genetic inserts. Finally, by the time the first new human was born, he had already developed thousands of different genetic inserts.
Despite having all these inserts, Lu Zhiyu was not planning on giving any single embryo everything. It would only be normal for different people to have different talents. Therefore, he would distribute the inserts among various embryos. It would suffice to give each person dozens of inserts as it would be enough for them to inherit and activate the talents.
Further, different races should have different talents and skills as well. However, after completing all these, he stopped the New Human Creation Plan, for he had reached his goal for now.
Nevertheless, the successful creation of the embryos, as well as their development, was only the first step. There was still a long way to go until humans could form stable tribes. He spent close to half a year in the dimensional castle, after which he designated the ant-people to carry out the rest of the plan.
The ant-people would take care of the monkeys. After the first generation of humans was born, the ant-people would raise them up in the castle. Of course, Lu Zhiyu would not teach them any knowledge or how to inherit the talents. The humans should develop their own language and civilization. Lu Zhiyu felt that this was the correct progress of a civilization and he should not interfere with it.
Once again, the dimensional door of the castle was connected with the outside world, and Lu Zhiyu fixed the portal in a lush forest. These ant-people would hunt and find food, so there were no problems at all with their survival. All Lu Zhiyu needed to do was to wait patiently!


By accident, Lu Zhiyu found the entrance to a low-dimensional world, and thus began a totally different journey!

Free to control everything in the low-dimensional game, Lu Zhiyu felt like a gamemaster, and even God.


In the bright, oppressive Kerrosby Oasis, a layer of fog prevented the weak magical beasts from wandering too close to the tower. It was one of the wondrous magic formation inscribed on the walls of the huge magical tower of Great Master Rayleigh, one which had always amazed Drodosis. 

The latter had lived an out-of-ordinary childhood where he was taught etiquette, geography, sciences, and magical theories at a young age, with iron discipline. Coming from a decaying adept family whose last adept died twenty years ago, Drodosis could be considered lucky to have been tested with magical talent. He had been given magical crystals, and more importantly, a spot in one of the greatest magical academies of the wasteland region, escaping from the political whirlpool in his family. 

This school was the Heister Family Tower Academy, called Ivory Tower.

In this place, as long as you had enough magical crystals, you could become stronger. With a ratio of 1:1, you could exchange magical crystals for knowledge points, and thus turn your fortune into knowledge, a necessary step to become stronger.

As he showed magical talent, he was sent in this tower at the age of 8. For five years, he suffered from scorn because despite coming from a so-called adept family, he had yet to break through the beginner acolyte realm. People usually took two to three years in order to do so, yet Drodosis had spent five years to achieve it! He was no one in this tower. This is a life lesson which was deeply engraved in his heart. 

In the past 13 years, Drodosis not only adapted to this world, but he also had to learn everything from scratch! Be it the language, the magical theories or the spells, he had to understand everything with his brain only! However, a miracle happened upon his breakthrough into the beginner acolyte sub-realm.

It was said that in order to become an adept, one had to reach 20 points of spirit, which could be tested with attribute stones. However, the path was long, and harsh. Reaching such a high standard was impossible for most of apprentices, and because of that, four sub-realms were delimited. From 4 to 8 points of spirit was the realm of beginner acolytes. From 8 to 12 was the realm of intermediate acolytes. From 12 to 16 was the realm of advanced acolytes, and from 16 to 20, was the realm of peak acolytes. The higher your spirit was, the stronger your spells would become, the faster you would think, learn and memorize, and the more spells you would be able to cast thanks to your larger mana pool.

Breaking through the beginner acolyte realm was just the beginning of a long, difficult and hazardous path towards greatness.

A miracle strengthened his confidence.

'What the hell is this thing? Am I in a game, or what?'

Strength referred to muscular and body strength, while physique represented Health, constitution and resistances. Agility, on the other hand, defined flexibility, balance, body control and reflexes. Spirit was the core attribute of acolytes, since magic power and mana were interlinked with spirit. Increasing one's spirit would increase both mana and magic power proportionally.  

[Beep! After 13 years of accommodation and adapting, I managed to create a very special interaction  with the plane's consciousness. In Alphen, beings cannot grow as strong as they want. This way, a certain balance is achieved and maintained by the plane's consciousness. It allows those who are favoured by the world consciousness to progress faster, while decreasing the speed of improvement of evil beings. Of course, evil beings cannot be judged from a human's mind standard. Evil beings are people who harvest and spread negative energy.]

'So…what are these evolution points?'

[Beep! What you see is an interaction system. People favoured by the world consciousness usually only see their speed of improvement increase, because they lack the mean to interact with the plane's consciousness! It was a result of his biochip's absorbing the knowledge from the books it had just scanned. In fact, it had done much more than just absorbing it, it had actually refined it, and erased what seemed to be wrong, unclear or unprecise! The only remaining information was a synthesized, clear and concise knowledge, useful and suited to Drodosis' pragmatic mindset!

As if Drodosis had a computer in his mind, he could access to these 'filtered' pieces of information directly! Of course, he would make sure to properly understand and digest this knowledge later on, but at least, he wouldn't have to pay knowledge points for it!

Drodosis looked at a statue in the hall. A small blue screen confirmed him that he had struck it rich!

"That makes things easier then." Jiang Chen got right to the point and threw a Huawei phone to him. "You’re going to develop an operating system for me on this thing. It shouldn’t be that difficult for you, right?"
"Eh?"
"This is an order. I want to hear you answer with certainty." Jiang Chen didn’t waste time with any bullsh*t. He bought these people to work for him, not the other way around.
"Yes, yes." Du Yongkong quickly nodded without any attitude that indicated his former executive position at a top company. Such a laughable dignity had long vanished in the cruelty of the apocalypse. Jiang Chen now controlled his life, and his only option was to serve him.
When Jiang Chen saw Du Yongkong’s perplexed look, he smiled and walked over to pat him on the shoulder. He didn’t care about the overwhelmed expression on Du Yongkong’s face as he continue to explain.
"You don’t have to be reserved. Do a good job, and I won’t let you down."
"I understand, Boss." Du Yongkong sensibly lowered his head.
Jiang Chen nodded before he continued, "I have some requirements. Let me know if you have any difficulties, but you’ll have to solve it, understand?"
"Yes."
"Good." Jiang Chen was pleased with Du Yongkong’s certainty. "I don’t know about operating systems, so I only care about the results. I need you to develop an operating system that has two times the processing power as this system called Android. At the same time, don’t change any of the requirements so that it remains compatible with all Android and iOS system software. "Oh? You’re saying that the human-computer interface of the iPhone is bad?" Jiang Chen couldn’t help but laugh at the statement.
Du Yongkong snuck a look at Jiang Chen’s expression and when he saw that he wasn’t angry hearing about the flaws of the two operating systems, he began to explain more in-depth with renewed courage.
"Regarding hardware operating efficiency, although the logic seems faultless, there exist unnecessary areas. To put it simply, a logic that can be covered with just one plus one, due to the limitation of the programming language as well as the algorithm, becomes muddled when the processor must do some unnecessary actions. For example, by defining A equals one, B equals one, and then calculating C equals A plus B to output C equals two as the final result. This old processing method not only wastes memory, but it also decreases the operating efficiency of the equipment tremendously."
"Oh? Then how will you take care of it?" Jiang Chen asked curiously.
"This is an easy fix. The ultimate problem lies in the limitation of the programming language. Although both systems have its pros and cons, they can’t escape the boundary of the lower level programming language. If D++ is used to program it, some small adjustments to compatibility will solve the problem. The antique known as the phone would have its operating efficiency increased by threefold, and the power consumption would also be cut in half. At the same time, because the drain on the hardware is lessened, the hardware life would also be extended for a prolonged period."

"Regarding human-computer interaction, I recommend maintaining the status quo since I’m already accustomed to this interface." Jiang Chen paused. Even if he controlled this man’s life, he didn’t want to expose his identity to someone who had yet to prove anything.
"Trust me, Boss, my design will be much more advanced than this ancient human-computer interaction method." This former chief of technology officer was a different and more zealous person when touching on the topic of technology. "Yes, using the touchpad to perform human-computer interaction is still mainstream even to this day, but this ancient operating system is inherently different from the operating system used by present-day entertainment systems."
"What’s the difference?" Jiang Chen asked curiously.
"Artificial intelligence!"
"Artificial intelligence? Can you create it?" Jiang Chen raised his eyebrows.

"If artificial intelligence isn’t difficult, then why isn’t it on the full-sensory computer?" Jiang Chen asked with some confusion. If it was so effective, there was no reason to not use it on the full-sensory computer.
"Hmm, that’s because the Artificial Intelligence Act prohibited the development of artificial intelligence. If everything was given to machines to do, everyone would be unemployed." Du Yongkong shrugged. "The artificial intelligence operating system was popular for a time before it was replaced by an equally impressive neural operating system. Before the war, artificial intelligence was only limited to the nuclear power plant, the water treatment plant, and other government-run infrastructure."
"I see. You talked about basic artificial intelligence. Are there no risks?" Jiang Chen voiced his worry of the artificial intelligence programs potentially mutating within the modern-day world’s internet and developing into a malicious program. He was reminded of the movie <I, Robot> that portrayed a world ruled by artificial intelligence.
"Boss, you are worrying too much." Du Yongkong sighed, guessing at Jiang Chen’s concern. "The program is fundamentally a stable program. Even if they were intelligent, they could never possess emotion or desire. At a basic level, it can only be what you’ve programmed it to do. Its intelligence responds to what you’ve taught it before. For example, if you hit it, it will not fight back. Its interest is neither hurt nor would it sense any danger. Unless you specifically tell it ‘if someone hits you, fight back.’ Only in this case would it respond with an action. Self-coding is something only intermediary artificial intelligence possesses. As for emotions, that’s something only advanced artificial intelligence would have. Even before the war, it was a theoretical concept."
Artificial intelligence was fundamentally a more advanced program.
Only after hearing the explanation did Jiang Chen finally feel relieved.

It released before the war, but no one in the world has been able to crack the game yet. For an operating system of this level, this is a piece of cake to me."
This certainly seemed to be the case.
If someone in the modern world had the ability to crack software made by the chief technology officer from 150 years in the future, it meant that he was also a time traveler. Jiang Chen would do anything to kill him, but of course, such scenario would be impossible.

Jiang Chen nodded his head, pleased at Du Yongkong’s confidence. He waved his hand to signal him to leave.
The cheerful Du Yongkong carried both phones and walked away. Of course, before he left he also remembered to take his bowl. Instead of labor work, he could work in his old field. For many years, he hadn’t dared to imagine this kind of happiness.

It was similar to a laptop, but its keyboard's function and system's architecture were very different. If not for his inbuilt translation plug-in and vast experience, he would have taken a long time to suss things out.
He opened many programs by mistake before he thought he finally found a browser-like feature. And to his surprise, the "computer" was connected to the Internet!
"I have no idea how this world maintains its Internet." Hao Ren, staring at the screen that slowly refreshed its text, muttered, "Is someone coming to collect the Internet fee?"
The MDT could see the computer screen through Hao Ren's eyes and began to gab, "The service provider crew rolled up in an armored car with a light machine gun, don't you think that's unusual?"
"Help me think of a few keywords if you are free." Hao Ren rubbed his fingers. "It's so much easier to get information from this thing than from the locals."

Some old people used to refer to the period as the Garden Era, which was a peaceful and prosperous world and probably the glorious human history. During that time, the development of science and technology was phenomenal. Two technologies were seen as a panacea to all problems and hidden dangers on the planet: One was the nanotechnology, which originated from the national consortium in the northern hemisphere. Scientists believed that the newly-emerging Nanomachine Swarm would tackle problems including environmental pollution, human diseases, natural transformation, and even spearhead extra-terrestrial colonization. The other technology was the evolutionary, biochemical plug-in-- a mechanical device that could coexist with human tissues. The mechanical device could also grow synchronously with the host's congenital organs by relying on cell energy for life-long operation.
The original intention of the Nanomachine Swarm development was to answer environmental and medical problems. Scientists had bet on these new advances to decompose pollutants and treat human tissue damage. Biochemical plug-ins were the basis for the transformation of human bodies. With the aid of modern medicine, the human race had defeated the natural law of survival of the fittest. Evolution had long stopped. But science and technology had progressed so tremendously that while the human body seemed primitive, scientists believed that biochemical plug-ins would bring humanity to the forefront of evolution again. The ultimate form of the plug-in would be a part of the human body to change human life fundamentally.
Undoubtedly, during the last peaceful period of Zorm, the world started to immerse itself in euphoria and self-confidence. Although cautious conservatives were questioning the new technologies, those cherishing the arrival of technology had drowned out the voice of the minority.
As the technology matured, the Evolved officially emerged. They were the new type of humans implanted with various plug-ins. Devices such as nerve-enhancing strands, auxiliary memory chips, and neuro-computer interface enabled humans to acquire capabilities that no one had never seen before. The new humans were known as the Modified, but due to the biological and evolutionary nature of the plug-ins with the hosts, the first humans who received plug-in transplants described themselves as the Evolved.
Like in many stories, the purebred Naturals and the Evolved conflicted with each other from the beginning. The Evolved who had an innate advantage occupied the living space of the Naturals. So, the Naturals with their large population and control of social resources were imposing harsh restrictions on the Evolved. However, such conflict was expected. Sociologists and scientists believed that this was a typical "labor pain of social changes." Hence, human society carried on living as usual.
It was not until 65 years later that disaster broke out in the northern hemisphere and triggered the war, which raged on until the present, wiping out the prosperity on Zorm.
The disaster certainly caught Hao Ren's attention. But there were many contradictions. The war had distorted the truth. All parties in the conflict recorded and publicized their version of history, which painted a good picture of themselves. Hao Ren was able to figure out a few clues though. The causes of the war were manifold and included food pollution, financial crisis, as well as a riot of the Evolved. The fatal reason was the Nanomachine Swarm accident.
Sixty-five years ago, there was an attack on the largest Nanomachine Swarm command center in the northern hemisphere, and three giant computers called Masters shut down as a result. The shutdown led to the loss of control of Nanomachine Swarm surrounding the command center. Some unknown reasons had caused the failure of the safety mechanism in the fleet. The microrobots, which were initially used to decompose chemical waste and purify water, had flowed to surrounding cities and dissolved the three largest cities in the world at that time—including the capital of a country.
The 65-year war started against this backdrop. It had been very confusing since the beginning.
The investigation results of the incident were never revealed. But, there were many rumors on the Internet that there was evidence to prove that the Evolved radicals initiated the attack. They used the brain chip function of the Evolved to gain direct control of some of the Nanomachine Swarm. The purpose was to release the runaway Nanomachine Swarm to massacre the Naturals. Other rumors spoke of a particular country in the southern hemisphere or an extremist religious group that initiated the attack. In short, there were many kinds of theories but only one conclusion: The loss of control of the Nanomachine Swarm destroyed the balance of powers in the northern hemisphere, resulting in a large number of second-tier countries taking advantage of the situation to exert their influence. As a result, the conflict between the Naturals and the Evolved intensified. With subsequent series of events, the war spread out everywhere in an uncontrollable manner.
No one thought the war would have lasted for 65 years. It almost destroyed the natural order of the planet. A deformed human civilization still survived, but its original form had long gone.
After learning the cause and current situation of the planet, Hao Ren began to delve into details on the Evolved. And he finally figured out what happened to the first and second-generation Evolved.
The difference between the two generations of Evolved did not lie in the "generational gap," but somewhat in the transformation techniques that they each used. The technological basis of the Evolved was their biochemical plug-ins. Early biochemical plug-ins could only work on mature individuals. Implantation surgery usually occurred after the age of 14, or even later, at 18 years of age. Therefore, the degree of transformation was limited, generally involving topical limb strengthening, and the \bvious surgical marks were visible on the body. The socket on the back of Nolan's neck was an example. The transformation technique was primitive, and people who adopted this transformation were the first-generation Evolved.
Today, there were still new first-generation Evolved who were usually mercenaries who had to get enhancements to survive on the battlefield or repair fatal disabilities in their bodies.
The second-generation Evolved were humans who used more advanced implantation techniques. The human had assumed the role of a creator. They developed a "mechanical core" with "genetic information" and implanted the bean-sized mechanical cores into human embryos. New-borns were cyborgs. The enhanced strands grown in the center of the machine would coexist with the human body. The process was so harmonious as if the mechanical system was part of the human body.
These people were the second-generation Evolved.
Hao Ren looked at the blonde girl, who laid quietly on the bed. The cables in her body, weird but were had wholly fused with her flesh and blood.
"You are now a second-generation Evolved." Hao Ren poked the MDT's face (tentative version). "Because there are no mechanical plug-ins on me, I look like a purebred Natural to the locals. No wonder they were so surprised to see us together. We are an unlikely couple."

The MDT yelled, "Then should I try it on you?"
