She didnt understand anything cuz she read it in the fastest way possible and that took her around 20 mins or so...


3 friends aged over 18 find a secretively path which is a secret path/tunnel to a magical land where imaginary animals live, on a beautiful scenario.They found some extraordinary things they have never heard or seen or thought about but one day an unexpected thing came up.

"Is that so?" Seungwoo's face suddenly turned pale, "Then why are the lights still flickering?"
My face turned blank as I tried to process the whole thing. The remote control was already in Seungwoo's hands. Even though he wasn't doing anything with it, the lights keep on turning on and off.
What on earth is happening here?
The lights stopped flickering, I stared at Seungwoo intently, and he was still there facing the door. All I can see is his back, but it seemed like he was calmer than before. I was the one who did the ghost prank, but I guess I got pranked by the ghost instead.
"Kim Seungwoo," I slowly approached him and tapped his shoulder. "Did the ghost do that?"
Fear was suddenly creeping up. He was still silent, and all I could see was the back of his head and his prominent jawline. The air conditioner suddenly went really cold, it was supposed to generate heat because of the cold season. Seungwoo slowly turned around, his dimples were now unseen, he was wearing a poker face. He simply stared at me as nothing happened.
"Hey," I tapped his shoulders again. "Answer me, please?"
He was staring at my face for a few seconds until it seemed like something behind me caught his eyes. His eyes widened as he tried to point out something behind me using his trembling left hand. His eyes described something he shouldn't have seen, and as if I was hypnotized, I turned around to look at where he was pointing out. 
 I felt scared. I scanned everything that appears in my sight but saw nothing. Everything was in the same place. I couldn't see any shadow or any soul. All I could see were the tables, the chairs, and the air conditioner. For some unknown reason, I felt really scared. Chills ran down my spine as if all of my senses awakened. Every time I hear the hissing sound of the air conditioner, I got the shivers again, this time with the little goosebumps on my arms that appear when I get that sensation.
I turned to look at him again.
"Got ya," he grinned, showing off his dimples playfully, and stuck out his tongue. "I got ya, Suji."
For some unknown reason, I had the urge to kill this handsome man who has the most beautiful dimples right in front of me.

"Did you get scared?" Seungwoo asked as he tried to tuck his seat into the desk. I am standing in front of him, near the whiteboard as we have compromised that I should present all of the chosen quotes before he recommends a place that we will visit.
"Do you want a beating?" I replied nonchalantly as I crossed my arms and legs, trying to express annoyance all over my body. "Let's start to do business now, we want to end this OT before lunch, right?"
"Yes, Miss Li." The playfulness in his voice disappeared as he put on his poker-face. 
I started my PowerPoint presentation with some of the quotes that caught my attention when I was proofreading the book. My laptop was just beside the projector on the table. I got a whiteboard marker in my pencil case and started emphasizing the five quotes that were shown on the screen.
"How should we emphasize that one," He started to get serious as he was observing all of the quotes being presented, "You can't choose your parents and most variables in your life. There are only two things that you can choose and that is your job, and your partner. Think carefully and love yourself while choosing what is best for you."
"Hmm, what do you suggest?" I looked at him in the eye, trying to find some ideas from him.
"What about a happy couple on the beach?" He paused and thought for a few seconds, his left hand was clutching his chin. "And a person doing the most enjoyable job in the world,"
"What would be that most enjoyable job in the world?" I asked as my head tilted towards the right.
"I don't know yet," He smirked, almost resembling that of a snort. "We have to go to the streets to find it out. You know, we should capture the most real emotion that we can find wherever it is."
"Okay," I started to write them on the whiteboard. "I'll take note of that."
"I mean, as a photographer and designer," He started rambling. "We should always prioritize the raw and purest emotion we can find to make the book more relatable--"
"Yes, yes," I replied abruptly.
"Are you trying to ignore me because you got scared with my prank earlier?"
"Well, partly, I guess?" I replied. "I mean, how can you joke around like that? You shouldn't have been a designer/photographer, you should have been an actor in this life. You deserve a Grammy award,"
"Thank you so much," He gave me a lopsided grin, stood up, and clapped. "I am so handsome and good at acting, I could have majored in the Theatre Arts Department,"
I crinkled my nose as a response, "Yes, yes, your majesty. Stop getting ahead of yourself now, okay?"
"Isn't it funny that your prank failed and you got pranked instead?" He teased me again, showing off that playful grin and his dimples. "Sorry, I am not scared of ghosts or anything so you failed big time.
I felt a vein might pop if we continue this conversation. Lesson learned, don't ghost prank others if you get scared of ghosts yourself. But I mean, I am not that scared of ghosts, the situation was just really scary.
"I am curious about how the door slammed when you were near me, and why were the lights flickering so much?"
"I don't know," He shrugged. "I didn't know why. I told you that there's a ghost here in the meeting room, right?"
Goodness, gracious. Why would I be scared of a ghost when I am not a normal being myself? I am a mermaid, for goodness sake, I am acquainted with sea witches, fishes, sirens, and I am sure that the world does not limit only to those beings.

"Is my fate already written according to the stars or do I create my own destiny?"

A scene suddenly came right through my eyes, as if it was directly right in front of me. This time, I was aware that I was not experiencing it firsthand though it still happened from my point of view. I was there, tending someone, probably a man. I was unbuttoning two buttons in his shirt because he was sweating too much. I was holding a wet towel in my hand and started to wipe his neck using it.

"It tickles, why are you wiping my body so lightly?" The man asked, it seemed like a very familiar voice but I couldn't pinpoint who. I wasn't looking at the man since I was so preoccupied with looking at his perfectly sculpted body. "You shouldn't be doing that, no-no, you should do it the hard way."

"H-huh??" The hard way?

"Yes, should I do it instead?" He sat up, unbuttoned his shirt, took my hand, and guided me to wipe his neck down to his chest, abdomen, navel until his pelvis, "You should do it like this, okay?"

As I was trying to hide the embarrassment of touching his body---I was touching the man's body with a towel, something caught my attention. Lower than his navel but the upper right side of his pelvis, I saw a mermaid's tail's fin. I scooted over, held the garter of his pants, and pulled it downwards.

Voila. It was the mermaid's tail. Perfectly the same as mine. He's the one that I am looking for. I don't doubt it. I am one hundred percent sure! He's the reincarnated prince that I am looking for, for so long.

The man grabbed my hand and made me look at his face. Sadly, I couldn't see who he was clearly. "What are you doing to a sick man's house, not to mention pulling his pants? Do you want to get yourself in trouble?"


Yes, that's right.


I'm already in trouble.

This story focuses on the reality of the workplace setting (office romance), slice-of-life, rom-com with tiny bits of fantasy elements. The setting is in modern-day Korea, I am not a Korean native so there might be some things that are not 100% accurate nor does it reflect the society and the country alone.

The story focuses on character development and how the main characters grow in terms of love and life, has cliche and is a slow burn romance.

An hour passed by and she's still cooped up in the guest room.I was wondering what is taking her so long.What is she doing in there.

Finally, she opened the door with my phone on her hand.She looks satisfied.I became curious to as what she did.Even so, I act as if it was nothing to fret on.

"Well, consider this a gift from me my dear friend from the ancient times" she said while she was on the verge of cracking up.

"What do you mean ancient times?I tend to keep updated with recent events." I vociferate.

"Oh yeah, the only thing I found on your phone was a game of Pou.There's like no social app in there.I feel like I'm befriending someone from the time dinasours exist.Where do you get news from.The newspaper" she stated as she hand me my phone.I took it then put it in my pocket.

"Yeah , where else? I mean I buy it every day before work.So I might as well know what happens lately." I said as she stared at me blankly.Its as if she didn't know what to reply.

"Well, the thing about newspaper, that was sarcasm I wasn't really asking one more thing,I gave you the phone for you to check it out not put it in your pocket.You didn't even bother to check what I was doing to it" she said.

I took my phone out and began to check my phone.I was shocked to the point that I was furious with what she did.

"You downloaded games an threw away my Pou!" I ejaculated.

"Well that thing was useless anyways and those things are not games I downloaded a social media apps for you such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.I also downloaded a dating app for you.I guess it might as well help you." she said as she was excited as she was waiting for a praise.

"You avoided the question Fei, where is my Pou!" I said again louder this time.Playing Pou was the thing I usually do during my leisure time and I enjoy it very much.

"I killed it" she stated as she showed me her wicked smile.

"You murderer!I'm not gonna say thanks for what you downloaded.I don't even know how to use.To me everything you added is I'm going to delete it and get my Pou back." I said but before I could do anything she snatched my phone.

"You can just download that thing again.Don't let my hard work go to.I'll teach you everything."she assured me while giving a warm smile.

"Fine...One chance Fei.That's all I can give you.If at the end of this day I still think it's useless.I'm getting rid of all the thing's you downloaded" I said as I give her a devilish smile.Serves her right for throwing away my Pou.

"That's all I need Rose.That's all I need" she said.She gave me my phone and started teaching me the use of social media.I was surprised to how little my knowledge is about the world and  as to how useful my phone actually was.Before, I didn't even know I could read news online.She taught me how to follow people and I was amazed.

"Well, what do want to find?Or maybe anything that piques you interest?" she asked.I already well know what to say but I wasn't sure if I could find it.

"Can I perhaps find someone who likes quotes on social media?I know it's a sudden but after everything that's happen I think I would need some form of motivation." I answered though I wasn't sure if I could.It was worth a try.I don't know, somehow I that's what I was suddenly into.Maybe it's a sign,But who knows the world is full of surprises.

"Well, of course, Rose.Let me set up an account particularly for your quotes."O watched as she taught me how to make a new account.It was easy.Why didn't I think of all of this before.

"Here you go, now let's check out some accounts shall we?"she said as I nodded.I started following 20 quotes account on my Instagram.I was more fond of it rather than the other social media apps.I had an account for news and also for interesting facts.Fei told me that I should get a life and follow some actors,singers or maybe public figures.But, that kind of things doesn't interest me.The only thing I watch on TV is news.So you might as well say I live under a rock.But for all I care it's my life and I'm the one who writes my story.

"Hey, Rose.I'm tired.Teaching you is harder than teaching my grandparents.Their way better than you at this."she yawned as I stared at my watch.Its getting late.Now infer she got tired.

"You can go to bed.I think that's enough for today."I said as I assured her.

" But I haven't taught you how to use the dating app.Isn't that our main goal" she replied as I watched her trying her best to keep her eyes open.

"Yeah, but there's time for everything.I don't want my sluggish friend to help me with that.I might get myself in trouble if I do." I said as I switch my phone off.

"Just because I'm half asleep doesn't mean I'm.... I'm..." I smiled as I see her sleeping.She still tried despite knowing she'd fall asleep.In the end I didn't have a choice but to carry her to the guest room.

"You should thank me later Fei.Thankfully you not that heavy or else I might have left you sleeping on the table."  I said as I placed her on the bed.

That night was peaceful and quiet and this time I felt like a new person.Someone who just got to know the world.

I took my phone out as I stared at that one app.I can do many things on my phone, but finding my destiny in it just doesn't feel right

"I'm sorry Fei but this app must go" I mumbled as I deleted the dating app.I just don't trust it.That night I walked to my my room as I stand at the balcony.I stared up at the dark blue sky as I said "Dear god, please guide me on my journey to find destiny.I seriously don't know what to do.Please just give me sign" I begged as I keep looking up as if I waited for an answer.I felt a bit relieved and decide to go to bed.As I was exhausted, I fell asleep in lestt than 5 minutes.But that night is a night I would never forget since...

How am I? Well I'm doing fine, that's what we all say right? Actually school just got finished and a lot of things are happening to our world, like the Virus named NCov. Good thing I don't have that.

       I confessed to my crush.
First I said "Hey, I liked you" and he says he likes me too. I was so happy because he is so sweet, kind and loyal. But as time goes by I started to feel like I don't love him in a way like I want him to be my boyfriend or it's just my friend who is his ex likes him again. It's okay if my friend still likes him I guess? But problems starts to come again in my life, I failed my exams (actually I'm an Honor Student), my parents started to compare me again to my sisters and different people, I started to act bad again that's why I hated myself more and more, I avoid my crush until the time that I said I want him to be my friend only and he started to act like the way he used to (Silent and Sad inside), I wish I could tell him all my problems but I think telling him about how I feel will make him sad too so... I just hide it. Weeks passed and I started to talk to him again and became like the old days where we are so close and talking like everyday but still he didn't notice my pain every smile, every laugh that I showed to him.

Until the end of the school year came and he talked to me with his friends and says "Umm...Hey, wanna talk about your problems?", I was shocked and wanted to tell him everything but I don't want to tell everyone know about it so I just said "Hmm? I don't have any problems dude, Haha" and I said goodbye while I regret what I did.
He chatted me online and says sorry that he's with his friends and we can't talk alone together, he says he wanted to hug me but when he saw me he frozed, I say it's okay and he promised me that he will hug me when the next school year starts.
I still love him like as a crush but I'm scared he only think of me now as a friend so I just keep it inside, I haven't cut/slit my wrist for months now because I'm trying to avoid any self harm but as I keep the pain inside my attitude changes a lot until I feel nothing anymore. Well my family don't even care about me like they don't talk to me, and if they will it's only because it's needed.
It's okay though because I don't feel sadness anymore because I'm used to it.
I started to stay away from social media and other apps so that I could be more active like doing activities in home but until now all I do is sleep.
I download apps for depression chats but it doesn't work for me. Until I just gave up and just go with the flow in this world, Idk anymore.

Everyday before I sleep my Anxiety came back again.

   ○ After Ben and Jin's Unwelcomed Arrival at a village they been searching for sometime, and Ben's transformation. Jin decided to tell Ben some things, While they look for another village. ○


"My head still hurts" Ben said, holding his head

"You will live" Jin said

"So Ben, you still want to know about the strange symbols on bbn your body, and hands and why we use quotes" Jin asked Ben


"Yeah go ahead" Ben answered back


"Ok, I'll start with the Symbols. First off, all forms have some type of symbol on them, but special forms, like you, me and other forms have special symbols which has a meaning or a story behind it. Some Symbols are unknown and later becomes forbidden, depending on the symbol. There is one legendary symbol that became forbidden all throughout the universe, if someone happens to be born with this symbol, was either banned from the village, town or even the Planet. The thing that makes this symbol so legendary and hated is that only one person gets it, and the symbol changes and moves throughout the body.

I heard stories of people killing themselves if they were born with this symbol" Jin explained 

"Wow, that's one crazy symbol" Ben said

"Yeah, but it's rare to fin someone with it now" Jin said


"There's more about this symbol, but let's talk about quotes"  Jin said

"No, I want to know more about the legendary symbol" Ben said


"Well ok, the only thing left bbn to really know about the symbol, is that according to some stories, those who was born with the Symbol, would later in their lifetime, would become the carrier of the universe's worst and dangerously deadly God like creature, legends has it, that the possibility percentage rate of that ever happening is 5 -10% of those born with the symbol. But, they must be ad calm and relaxed as a pile of rocks" Jin explained 


"Ok, but why you must be calm, if the symbol moves to the chest and grows" Ben asked Jin


"Trust me Ben, if that happens, the universe would be done for, that if the person isn't ready and strong enough" Jin said


"Ready for what?" Ben asked 


"Ben, Ben, Ben, you think this creature will automatically let you control it, it's a death machine. It even has a nickname, but I don't remember it. If you think your rampages are crazy, you'll kill yourself if you see what this creature could do. It listens to the nobody" Jin said 

"Call me crazy, but I think I want to meet this legendary creature" Ben said

"Your funeral Ben" Jin said

"So, are you done with symbols Ben" Jin said 


"Yeah, explain why we use quotes" Ben said 


"Gladly, but first, you should know that theres a story behind the quotes, but I won't get to that" Jin said 


"The history of quotes is ancient, it goes back billions of years. The very first person to ever use a quote became extremely famous. I don't remember his name, I don't know if you ever heard, but, quotes were once banned from history because everybody had quotes similar to others and that caused a universal war. It was later unbanned, because demons started to flood planets, towns and villages. The death rate was insane. A few years went by, then I was born, to end the demon rampage.

Basically Ben, we use quotes to fight off evil. There are two types of quotes" Jin explained 


"Really?" Ben said 


"Yeah, there are quotes with names, and quotes without. For example, when you were on a rampage, and I stabbed you through the chest and said, "Destroy all evil, Tensai Heal!", that's a quote with a name. Tensai was an ancient God who died of a fatal disease. He was later called "Tensai, the God of Healing". 

Anyway, the time when the Prison Keeper wanted to fight, and I put my sword To my face and said, "Destroy all evil, Infinite Destruction!", that's a quote without a name" Jin explained 


"Ok, I get it now" Ben said


   ● Suddenly, two Prison Reapers walked passed Jin and Ben ● 


"Hey, you two, why aren't you working and why are you far away from the village" The Reaper said


"That village is done for, just leave us alone" Ben said


"WHAT!!!!, YOU DESTROYED THE VILLAGE!!!!, No matter, I'll end tour life, here and now" The Prison Reaper said, as he dashed  at Ben


  ○ Ben jumped back as he swung his sword, when he did, he chopped the Prison Reaper's head off ○


"I'LL KILL YOU!!!!" The other Prison Reaper said 


  ▪︎ Before the Reaper could reach halfway close to Ben, Jin tripped him, and stabbed his sword through his heart, the Prison Reaper's heart bursted, blood started to squirt out of his chest ▪︎


"They interrupted our talk" Jin said 


"Yeah, so were you done" Ben said


"Well, I was talking about quotes with and without names. I think that was it" Jin said


"Ok" Ben said


   ● Two more Prison Reapers walked by, they saw the two dead bodies. They looked at Ben and Jin, and started to swing their scythes. Ben and Jin dodged and chopped the Reaper's in half ●

"What Is with these Reapers" Ben said

"I don't know" Jin said 


"Well, we did kill two Reapers" Jin said


"Yeah, but still" Ben said

"Anyway, let's continue to look for another village" Jin said


"Ok, let's go" Ben said


"Planet Gordon is a strange planet" Jin said


"Yeah, I'll put it out of it's misery" Ben said, as they continue to look for another village




With things winding down to the Ultimate Fight for Planet Vein, Ben and Jin must now navigate their way through Planet Gordon, to face the upcoming evils and mysteries that await them.

As Ben and Jin get closer to facing Gordon, things will change. New information and trials await, both Ben and Jin.

           Qoute to Motivate and Encourage

            The inside of the building Crimson Arrow called Central Administration was a rather surreal one. Although the use of holograms was nothing new to Drew — it would only be new to someone who lived in the low-tech side of Laia — the ones that Central Administration had on display were on an entirely different level altogether.
            The holograms Drew knew about were simply three-dimensional representations of things in reality, but the holograms of Central Administration were actually solid. Both of them could be interacted with, true, but the former could not provide any in the way of tactile feedback. The latter, however, was supposedly made of datalight, a really expensive means of data storage and display.
            Drew found himself wishing for more eyes as he continued to look around the interior of Central Administration. There were tens of holograms, each of them depicting famous superheroes and their favourite quotes.
            Crimson Arrow had one dedicated to him too, but before Drew could examine Crimson Arrow's hologram in greater detail, the superhero had ushered him away, preventing him from taking a closer look at the quotes inscribed underneath his heroic hologram.
            "You don't want me to see it?" Drew asked, a small pout on his face.
            "Look, that hologram was done when I was at a more impressionable age," Crimson Arrow replied. "The quotes, especially. I've been trying to get them to take it down, or to at least let me update the choice of quote, but my attempts have all failed for some darn reason."
            "So…it's an embarrassing part of your life?" Drew found himself staring at the hologram of his teacher with greater intensity. "Can I see it?"
            "…At least wait until I'm not in the vicinity. And never bring it up in front of me."
            Drew had a feeling that his teacher had been asked the same question at least a dozen times, so he didn't push it. Following the superhero obediently, the two of them stopped at the counter, where a clerk was busy typing on a Flashpad at a dizzying speed. 
            "A moment," said the clerk, his voice even. 
            After another minute of rapid-fire clacking, the clerk leaned back on his chair. "Sir Crimson Arrow. Thank you for your patience."
            "No matter. You guys do important things too. I'm more than willing to wait," Crimson Arrow replied. "I'm here to register this kid as my new student."
            "New student, eh? It's been a while since you took in someone new," the clerk replied. 
            "Yeah. This kid's real special, though." Crimson Arrow took out a voltdrive. "All his details and particulars are recorded here."
            "Run it through the FireFinder first, sir," said the clerk, gesturing at a metallic box. 
            "Huh? Why this sudden requirement?" Crimson Arrow asked, but he slotted the voltdrive into the metallic box anyway. The metal box lit up with green lights, and a small screen with some numbers on it appeared. Waving the screen away, the clerk plucked out the voltdrive and inserted it in his own Flashpad.
            "Does everyone use a bracelet model here?" Drew asked, having noticed that the clerk's Flashpad was the same as his teacher's. His own Flashpad was a tablet model, and unlike the clerk's, it didn't have a holographic feature. He'd always wanted a better model, but money was hard to come by.
            "Yes," Crimson Arrow replied. "But don't worry about that too much. I have all your essentials already covered. Just focus on the upcoming segment and decide if you actually want to be a superhero or not."
            "I understand."
            "Sir Crimson Arrow, his application has been processed. He just needs to complete the last step," said the clerk.
            "Good. Thanks." Crimson Arrow patted Drew's shoulder and beckoned for him to follow. "Let's go over to the Hall of Heroes."
            "For its grand name," said the clerk, "it's actually just after that particular door. Not impressive at first sight, but once you enter, you'll get to see great things. I hope you have fun, and feel inspired by the deeds of your predecessors."
            "Why are you stealing my lines? And stop giving spoilers, please. That'll take all the fun out of things." Crimson Arrow gripped Drew's shoulders. "Alright, let's go."
            Steering him to the door the clerk had indicated, Crimson Arrow patted the door. "Here it is. The Hall of Heroes. In there, you'll learn about what is expected of a superhero, and your duties. This isn't something you can experience in that Hero Academy, so do enjoy this very unique…experience."
            The door slid open to reveal a long hallway, which was in turn filled with lots of small holograms and plaques. Even from outside, Drew could tell that the Hall of Heroes wasn't any dangerous place, which set his heart at ease. After all, the shows about the Hero Academy always featured things like a trial or an acceptance test, and they didn't look particularly safe to Drew back then.
            "I'll be waiting for you on the other side, kid." With that, the superhero turned and left. 
            After waiting for another three seconds, Drew entered the hallway cautiously, despite his earlier observations. To his relief, nothing actually happened, and his back soon straightened up as he walked down the hallway. 
            "The beginnings of the profession known as 'superheroes' are shady," said a mechanical voice from above, "but what most historians can agree on is that the first true superhero is the Blinding Firmament, the first person to reveal his superpowers. Prior to that, Super Genes were treated as fringe discoveries, unimportant. However, the appearance of the Blinding Firmament, in response to the First Laian Disaster, changed society forever."
            The recording ended there, but a giant blazing arrow had appeared on the first exhibit, which was depicting a woman in a cloak of blinding white. The plaque beneath the hologram read 'The Blinding Firmament'. After fixing her appearance in his mind, Drew continued down the path.
            "The prototypical superheroes could be better described as vigilantes, but the Blinding Firmament was the one who established today's idea of a superhero. Accountability. Responsibility. Selflessness. Dedication. These four tenets inspired, and will continue to inspire, the appearance of many superheroes, who voluntarily submitted to Laia for the sake of the world," continued the voice. 
            A small suitcase fell out of the ceiling, before levitating in front of Drew. "These are rules and regulations for all superheroes. Do peruse them in your free time."
            Holding on to the newspaper, Drew continued down the hallway, where a very familiar monster was displayed. It was a hologram of the shadowy monster that had attacked today. 
            "A spectre," Drew read out loud. The mechanical voice was silent; clearly, it wanted him to read it of his own accord. "The enemies of Laians; they have appeared many times in history. Their goal is unknown, but sufficient proof that…that…"
            Drew felt his heart skip a beat. "Sufficient proof that they have destroyed preceding, equally-advanced civilisations exist. It is theorised that spectres appear when the dominant civilisation reaches a certain level of technological advancement."
            Preceding, equally-advanced civilisations? Drew took a deep breath. That could only mean that other…people lived on Laia before the current world, right? Furthermore, these peoples had technology that could rival that of the current Laia, but if they were all destroyed…
            His heart pounding madly, he continued to read on. "A disturbing find is the records of people with superpowers in preceding eras. Examination of works from the past eras reveal that these people were the main force in combating those spectres."
            Drew looked back up at the shadowy mass and took a deep breath. It wasn't hard to connect the dots, especially after the exhibit had laid it out clearly for him. Those monsters he had encountered earlier had been responsible for the complete annihilation of civilisations very much like Laia in the past.
            "And," Drew muttered, "if that could happen in the past, why can't it happen again in the future?"
            He took a deep breath and tore his eyes away from the exhibit. He didn't like the idea that the world — or rather, his family — had actually been in danger the whole time. Nor did he like the fact that civilisations comparable to his current world had been destroyed by those aberrations. 
            "The brighter ones here would have understood the danger spectres pose to our world," said the mechanical voice. "Spectres are the natural enemy of all Laians. They do not consider us as living things; their own desire is to kill and destroy. Although superheroes do handle other threats, spectre appearances have grown increasingly frequent."
            Under the quiet narration from the ceiling, Drew forged onwards, flanked by the various heroes that had their holograms placed here. As a child of superhero fanatics, he knew most of the newer heroes and their achievements, which was why he didn't pay that much attention to them.
            The only exhibit that still held his interest was the one at the very end.
            A list of mortality rates, a list of just how many superheroes had fallen while fending off the spectre threat.

Since the advent of existence itself, the multiverse has been stricken by an inexorable end, a destiny of annihilation. It knows not mercy, nor does it hold compassion for the masses. As a force of nature, of causality, such is expected.
