She was the only one who actually believed in Silas's cause. Claimed it was some sort of "key to heaven"........key to heaven. How ridiculous. Well, I suppose that God will determine the path that this project will go.....I just pray it goes well.

"Encrypted audio, dot, MP3," Jessica mumbled under the background noise. Indelible concentration satisfied her restlessness. Therapeutic problem-solving always barred everything else from her stream of thought, and she didn't have to remember the present in order to function as normalÑher level of normal. Such deep concentration drew her friends' attention.
Valerie had seen Jessica like this before, executing code, scribbling alphanumerics, or breathing life into hardware. But that excited look on her face, like a witch over a cauldron, meant she was on the path to answers. Shannon noticed it, too, the intense focus and control, a level of focus she was could be matched. Jessica's friends keenly observed and waited for the end result, clueless as to the meaning of the onscreen characters, numb to their own excitement.
"Unlocked!" the nerd nearly screamed. "I like to break without breaking. As the boobed droid with brain matter, this was manageable."
Valerie leaned closer. "So, what's inside?"
"I have to admit, I'm curious as hell," added Shannon.
Energy, sobriety, somberness; Jessica's expression fell three levels. "Could this really be related to what happened to Pine Rim and Beth?" She mulled over the screen, specifically on a bare audio file ready to commence playback. 
"You'll finally get to know," egged Valerie. "We'll know."
The sound of ringing broke the moment, anticipation interrupted by a call and the hologram of a woman's profile. 
"That's Eva," said Jessica. "My boss. It has to be because I've missed work."
"Can't you take it later?" said Valerie.
"She doesn't call this late..."
"Pick it up or don't, Jess," said Shannon.
Hesitantly, Jessica accepted the call.
"Buonasera!" Eva yelled. "Sto cercando il dolce Jes!"
"Hey, Eva..."
"Ehi, I have not seen chetah and wondered if she was okay!'
"Yea, I should have called in my sick days. My coughing and blueberry paleness wouldn't have worked for the customers, but I should've told you."
"You're always pale!"
Silent as could be, Valerie and Shannon listened and shot awkward stares traced with fretfulness. Somehow, the call transformed into a frivolous conversation having nothing to do with work, before Eva suddenly questioned, "Are you home right now?"
Jessica scowled confusingly at her two friends, who shrugged, then coolly answered, "Yea, Eva, I'm home."
"Bene! Because you should be resting if you are sick. See you tomorrow night!"
"Okay, Eva. Have a good night."
"Byeee!"
Back against the mesh, she caressed her chin meditatively. "That was weird."
"What?" Valerie shrugged. "What's weird about it?"
"I always start work in the morning, and she's never there at night."
"That is weird," said Shannon, tilting her head. "But where were we?"
Jessica's watch vibrated, further pricking Valerie's patience. Nonetheless, Jessica checked the message, noting the Ghost Wire tag. It proved to be nothing more and nothing less than a warning: You don't have much time. Leave. A new storm of questions. 
"I'm copying all the chip's information.
Neither Valerie nor Shannon understood Jessica's newfound urgency. Disturbed, they observed her dominance of the keyboard with R2-D2 jammed in the desktop. File after file thus transferred from one drive to the other.
"Jessica, what's wrong?" exclaimed Valerie.
"A hunch," she said. "Variables."
"Variables?" Shannon repeated. "What? What did you read just now?"
"Format unrecognized," Babel interrupted. Heeding his voice, all three girls upturned to the monitors. A white box on the center panel displayed the attempt but inability to initialize a download. Hence, the loading sequence froze at zero. The freeze startled Valerie and Shannon but injected a new kind of curiosity in Jessica, who issued a new command.
"Babel, display file script."
The computer displayed new images across the nine panels. They were cryptic, orange, and parsed in sequences of nine in never-ending black. They looked like simple dashes and lines, except with a curvature like no character on a keyboard. "Like binary," Jessica whispered to her clueless friends. "That," she exclaimed, sitting upright, "I think that's Azarean code. Maybe their own programming language. It's their binary, for lack of a better term. Wicked..."
"Binary. Crap, I know you've mentioned that before," said Valerie, "somewhere." She caressed her forehead, thinking.
Shannon snapped her fingers. "It's the very basic thing behind computers."
"Yea! Como su idioma!"
"So why is this file among the rest?" said Jess. "It would be nice to have answers. All the crazy stuff we could learn, but we would need an Azarean processor..."
Valerie sighed. "But you can't even download it."
"Babel, screenshot the entire script and download everything in JPG format. Label it Trinity." A bleep confirmed her command. Snapshot after snapshot of orange code sorted through the holo-panels, copying into the removable drive. "Still copying."
"How long?" said Shannon.
"Not long." However, she had not forgotten the audio file. Finger on the cusp of the panel, she made eye contact with Valerie then Shannon. Enveloped by anticipation, she tapped. A conversation commenced:
"Let me remind you, thespian, precision is key in every step of the operation. A margin of error shall leave us vulnerable. The slightest detail overlooked and your mistakes shall be redressed. Are my words clear?"
"'I am the epitome of precision, mister agent. I'm no inept dog, like the people outside. I'm still loyal, and this job hits two birds with one stone. Plan, guide, command as you like, a mistake will not fall on the execution but the planning. I take my work very seriously."
"Then you understand the layout?"
"My people know the streets, sure.  They'll stay hidden and meet every request. So long as your applications keep people away, as long as the citywide blackout occurs as you promised, every player will be in place before Judgement Day. And then the show will begin."
"Good. Goliath surveillance shall not be an issue. Simply ensure your followers secure the parcels."
 "Then it all hinges on the final show on the fourth. You've chosen the right man. I promise. I can deliver the entire message from memory, right now."
Dismay, surprise, and revelation. Jess, Val, and Shannon hooked onto every word of the playback, disquietly piecing the evidence together. The same two voices carried on, back and forth, both familiar.
The first voice resonated in Jessica's memory, his identity on the tip of her tongue. She listened intently as the playback continued:
"Not necessary."
Throat clearing. The voice suddenly changed its American accent to British. "Citizens of the deceitful sovereignÑ"
"I said, it is not necessary."
His accent brought the memories back, alongside a flood of emotions. The girls recognized the voice of the terrorist, the so-called face of Sub Terra. 
"Guess you were serious about no curtain call. Do you distrust your own security or..."?
"All security is proofed by layers. Now, I must see to a dilemma. Be ready."
"Hail theÑ!"
The playback ended.
"I knew it!" stammered Valerie. "Fucken knew it!" Her hand fell on Jessica's shoulder. "That's no resistance! That's some conspiracy bullshit! Sub Terra's not involved."
"This is unreal!" Shannon said, quivering.
But Jessica dwelled on the other voice. Stoic and uptight as it was, the face floated somewhere in the data stream of her thoughts. And why did the other man sound like a sycophantic artist?
"That's proof though, right?" said Valerie. "Someone else has gotta see who the murderers are!"
Jessica was too busy toggling her pair of goggles. Then her mouth fell. "That's him!" she exclaimed, and disquietly thrust the specs into Valerie's grasp.
Curiously, receptively, Valerie strapped the goggles and saw Malvis. "Who's the alien?" she asked.
"That's the other speaker," said Jessica.
"Really?" Valerie felt a tap on her shoulder. Underneath the lenses, Shannon's eyes glistened under the dim monitors, home to the same kind of sadness surrounding Jessica. 
"I am sorry," Jessica moaned. "I'm sorry for staking the blame on you, Val."
"There is no blame, homegirl." Valerie approached and patted Jessica on the back. Jessica spun, stood up, and clasped her in a sisterly embrace.
Shannon coughed back a whimper. "You guys are getting too wound up." 
Valerie waved Shannon over, and the three of them held onto one another.
"I'm going to miss her," said Jess.
Valerie scrunched. "Me too."
"She won't be forgotten, though," said Shannon.
Jessica clenched the necklace around her neck. "No, she won't..."

Faced with world-turning revelations, the life she's led seems trivial next to a hundred-year lie and tragedy.

A 64-year-old man presented to our center for follow-up colonoscopy. The colonoscopy revealed a 20-mm laterally spreading tumor in the sigmoid colon, which had elevated portions and a slightly depressed portion ( A). The magnifying endoscopic findings showed that the oral-side elevated portion had type II-like and type IV-like pit patterns, and the anal-side elevated portion had type II- and type V-like pit patterns. However, we could not assess the slightly depressed portion according to Kudo's pit pattern classification because both chromoendoscopy with indigo carmine and magnifying endoscopy with crystal violet showed microvillous structures ( B, C). On the basis of the endoscopic findings, we diagnosed this tumor as early colonic cancer and performed endoscopic submucosal dissection for removal of the tumor. Histopathologic analysis showed a low to focally high-grade adenomatous lesion with dilated cystic glands including mucin inside; stained with hematoxylin and eosin ( D). The elevated portions consisted of dilatated glands resulting from mucin production, and the surface glands were serrated. The slightly depressed portion had a thin, spirelike villous pattern, which mimicked an intestinal-type intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) of the pancreas ( E). Of note, molecular biologic analysis revealed activating G-nas and K-ras mutations, whereas BRAF mutation, CpG island methylator phenotype, MLH1 methylation were not detected.

After my failures in astral travel, I decided to go back to the basics. I needed to go back to the basics. I needed to learn how to meditate. Something which I have never done before in my life. I've always looked down on meditation. I saw it as something only monks do in the mounts and strange people who worship crystals and do yoga. Now here I was turning to meditation. I had to swallow my pride and just do it.

I found it extremely difficult at the start. Everything was itchy. The sounds were overwhelmingly bothersome and my thoughts just. Would. Not. SHUT. UP! This just wasn't working for me. It was the first time that I couldn't teach myself just simply my reading and trying. I turned to an app called headspace for help. The app allowed you to stream guided meditation soundtracks. The only issue was that the app seemed very buggy and the download speed wasn't very fast. It didn't help that it also didn't tell you the download progress.

After getting frustrated with the app I went hunting on the internet and managed to get my hands on guided meditation soundtracks that were made by the guy from headspace back when he was just starting out in the cyber world of guided meditation. This was better. The audio quality was good and I could save it on my phone and listen to it whenever I wanted. Now that I had a teacher I started doing 5 min sessions in the morning before I start my day and in the evening before I went to bed. The guided meditation was easy to follow and was exactly what I needed.

But just focusing on meditation wasn't quite enough for me. I need to also practice what I had read. I started with "The Psychonaut Field Manual", more specifically the part on gnosis. It had an exercise where it taught the reader to enter gnosis. The long and short of it was that you needed to stare into a candle for a given period of time. (I don't want to spoil too much of the book). So overachieving me decided to go big on my first go. I, as usual, waited until my family was asleep to start my exercise. I used my desk chair to put the candle on. I sat on the ground, arm length away and started. I forced myself to stare into that sucker for about forty minutes. To make it even worst I also held my blinking back. Let's just say it was like going on a psychedelic trip. I started seeing wavy lines that looked like sin graphs and the colors of the candle moved between blue and yellow. At least that night I had a good sleep.

I redid the exercise a few times, but I went softer on myself each time. Eventually, I decided that having a random candle burning in my room in the middle of the night was just too great of a risk, so I decided to scrap the idea and move on to the next exercise. At least now I had a basis that I could start building on. I had the ability to meditate, but not very well just yet and I had good concentration. But what to try next?

"Hahahahaha. Flamers, Lu Man's asking, how many followers do you all have?"
"Some just couldn't do it themselves and yet still look down upon others."
"Lu Man's right. We should never care about what the anti-fans say. Whoever takes them seriously loses. We're depreciating ourselves by caring about them!"
"Hahahaha, Lu Man has never cared about you active anti-fans who keep showing up everywhere. Are you all having fun? Having fun all by yourselves!"
Lu Man finished posting and didn't continue reading after that, for she truly did not care for it.
What's the point of caring about them? There's totally no need for it.
Han Zhuoli just ended his call and said to her, "I've checked, it's Lu Qi."
Lu Man did not hesitate and contacted Da Xiong instantly. After knowing it's Lu Qi for sure, the two of them, who were familiar and had good chemistry, decided what to do.
Da Xiong still had the recording so Lu Man didn't have to send it to him.
"Just perfect. If we seize the chance to upload now, we can divert some of the netizens' attention," Da Xiong said.
Lu Man thought so too. She didn't feel any burden using Lu Qi to divert attention.
"I'll find a few accounts to post and raise popularity," Lu Man said.
Soon, Lu Man had contacted several accounts.
She didn't contact Eight Skin Entertainment this time as Eight Skin Entertainment was too iconic.

The netizens who hadn't seen it clicked it curiously.
And saw Da Xiong's post: "Unnamed female star had a battle in boyfriend's office blatantly. Her voice is so loud, it can be heard in space. All are welcome to guess her identity based on her voice."
An audio clip accompanied the post.
"My goodness! Explosive!" 
"Download quickly!"
The netizens downloaded it hurriedly.
Indeed, within another minute, Da Xiong's post was deleted.

"Take me in, I'll do anything you want me to!"

Initially, probably because he knew she was looking at him, Su Zhinian had a hard time concentrating; the words were running all over the pages. However, ten minutes later, as the sound of her steady breathing drifted into his ears through the music, his heart felt strangely calmed, and there was a feeling of rightness to everything.
When Song Qingchun stood until her legs were tired, she realized the audio system had been playing the same song.
It was sung by a female artist. Her tone was clear and comfortable, but the song had a sad undercurrent to it.
When the song repeated itself, Song Qingchun paid special attention to the lyrics, and she realized the lyrics were as melancholy as the tune.
I said I fear most the breeze before the rain,

We both laughed while looking at the sky,
Talked and talked until we were both crying.
It seems that we've both been loved by someone before.
Those dreams that were perfect to the point of not needing to be remedied,

Su Zhinian was doing three things at the same time; he was listening to music, reading the document, and maintaining this conversation with Song Qingchun. "Kay Tse."
Perhaps it was because Su Zhinian had helped her that night or perhaps it was because she had seen his smile earlier, she had gotten a lot more comfortable in his presence, and she managed to ask more questions, "But this song is not that popular right? How did you find it?"

Mason entered the basement with all of the music equipments he bought and he noticed that his mother's shoes were gone.

"Forgot she has work."

Mason heard noises in the bathroom he saw Elizabeth entering the day before so he could assume that she was preparing to go somewhere.

He entered his bedroom and walked into shirt closet and touched some random spots on the wall before the wall opened up. It seemed like the spot on the wall he had to touch was the same as the one in the shoe closet.

He entered the secret room and began touching the wall on the other side before the wall closed.

In the secret room for shoes, there was outlets everywhere so the shirt's should be the same.

Mason looked for the best spot to set us his makeshift studio and luckily on the far left corner of the secret room was a spot where there wasn't any shirts hanged up. He first sat his laptop down and plugged it into the wall.

He began connecting everything together until the studio was ready. The reason making the studio in the secret shirt room was because it was the furthest away from his mother and Elizabeth's rooms.

He didn't want them to know about what he was doing yet. "Thank god that everything can be purchased with apps nowadays. My password for my bank account hasn't changed either. The meteor is a really generous heavenly being after all."

Mason opened up the MacBook and began setting it up. He made an account, logged in, and the first he did was connect to the WiFi. He wasn't worried about the WiFi password because he found it on his phone.

The WiFi was finally connected to his MacBook and Mason opened up safari. He searched up apps he could use to make music and he found one that costed 40 dollars.

Mason pressed download and it asked him for his name, credit card number and the sorts.

It began downloading and Mason had to decide which song he could use for his first song. He couldn't use the best songs because since he was just a new artist and that would just be a waste of a good song.

He decided to use the song, White Iverson as the first song he was going to release on SoundCloud. 

He knew that it wouldn't exactly have the same impact as the original song did for Post Malone but he wasn't afraid because if it didn't help him blow up, he still had many songs in his array. On the contrary it could go the opposite and be even more of an impact on Mason's music career than it did for Post's.

He had many reasons for choosing it. First, it made Post Malone blow up. Second, it was an amazing song that stuck to people's head. And lastly, it was 1 of the only songs that he memorized from heart.

Mason was glad that he didn't spend all of his money on his music equipments because the music video for this song was an amazing piece of art as well.

It was simple and yet it was so memorable.

Mason had some problems involving the lyrics to himself but changing it wouldn't have too much impact on the song itself, or at least that's what Mason convinced to himself.

Mason wrote the lyrics down onto a notebook that he grabbed from his room and after he finished, he edited some parts of the songs that he didn't think would fit him.

However most of the song was unedited and it still felt like a banger to Mason. He practiced singing this new versions for a while before taking a sip of water.

This bottle of water costed him 5 dollars. It was from a small store he entered while waiting for the Uber. Apparently it was good for his throat.

Although he didn't really believe, he still bought it just in case it was true.

He opened up the app that just finished downloading and because it was similar to the app his teacher had the students use in order to make a beat representing the country they choose for a project, he was able to easily navigate through the app.

Mason clicked on record and without stopping, Mason sang the whole song front to back without stopping.

After he finished I recording the song, he turned the recording off. He listened to the singing and already, he knew that it was going to be easier singing with the beat so Mason closed the vocal recording and opened up external audio.

It wasn't called the same as most apps but Mason could tell that the grid controller was accessed through there.

He clicked on each indivisual square on the grid controller and listened to what kind of sounds they made. He played around with it a bit and discovered that he could change the sounds, the pitch, and basically make the sound fit to what he needed.

There was also a piano on top so he wasn't worried about songs needing pianos.

He memorized the lyrics completely but the beat was a different situation. He could sort remember how the beat went but because he couldn't listen to the song itself, he could only guess.

After a while, he knew that he couldn't even remotely replicate the beat so he had no choice but to make his own.

He thanked his teacher for teaching the class how to make music so he had to take the hard route and make a beat around his singing.

He closed the external audio and reopened the vocal recorder. He recorded himself once again but it still didn't sound like it should have. Mason kept trying again and again until he was finally satisfied with the audio.

He listened to the audio and decided to clean it up. He wasn't improving his voice with autotune, he was just trying to further isolate his voice. Although it didn't change much, it still improved the audio. 

He changed some things here and there and finally he was completely satisfied. He listened to the song and played around some beats. He recorded them separately and duplicated his vocal audio and fit them all into each indivisual beats.

By the end, Mason had over 10 different versions of White Iverson and more than 6 hours past already. He listened to each and every single 1of them till the end of the song. 


He could immediately get rid of half of the songs. He used this process to get to his final 2. He listened to them both but he still couldn't decide so he listened once more.

Then Mason said, "Fuck it. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." Although it was childish, it worked.

He didn't delete any versions of the song, he saved them onto a file called, "White Iverson Fails 2 Hit A 3 Point Shot".

He was just having some fun with the file and didn't mean anything serious. He wanted to keep a file of his failed versions because although they weren't the best beats, they were still representations of how much hard work he had to put into stealing somebody's song.

Mason laughed at how funny it sounded in his head.

He actually wanted the file so he could turn them into beats. Although making beats wasn't all that hard, it would be easier to just take his old beat and change some things up.

There wasn't too much problems when switching up a song even if they were made to fit the song.

Mason edited the final song just a little bit and he was ready to put it onto SoundCloud. He was hoping that by releasing it onto SoundCloud first before releasing the music video, it wasn't going to influence the popularity of the song too much.

 But before he did, he needed to make a cover for this single. He actually took photoshop class in high school so it didn't take too long to make a cover.

The cover he created wasn't the same as the one Post Malone made. Mason always thought that the cover for the single could have been made better but he didn't really want to hate on it too badly because he made it before he became a professional artist after all.

Mason opened up SoundCloud and set the whole thing up before he began uploading the song.

"And there we go. Easy money. Only costed me around 5000 if I include the tax."

Mason Cohen, a regular boy with a regular name. He was a regular millennial that followed regular news about the media. Only thing different was that he was also a fan of light novels.

That was him 4 years ago. Mason was now the highest paid actor in Hollywood and the owner of the biggest company in the world. He also took the spot of number 1 song in the world.

The change in his life was sudden and was so fast that Hollywood couldn't keep up.

And it was all thanks to a shooting star.
