After waking up one day, Bruce Lite found himself possessing the body of an American Agent that enjoyed all kinds of benefits, he made tens of thousands of dollars a month, he had power, and everything else he could dream of.

But when he snapped out of his new found happiness, he realised that he was currently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And that's when the desperation set in.

While his first reaction to it was that it was pretty 'cool', after realising that at some point in the near future, a purple freak would snap his fingers and he had a 50 - 50 shot at surviving, Bruce felt his whole body go cold.

In the stories Bruce was familiar with, when this type of situation happened, the person in question would get some kind of ability, or maybe position in the world that could enable him to have a fighting chance.

But no matter how hard he tried, there was simply nothing there for him to discover in the first place. He was a simple level 3 agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that was it. No powers, nothing.

Until after a while had passed, at a time where Bruce found himself slowly accepting his fate, he suddenly obtained the ability he was looking so desperately for.

He could now download other people’s abilities. And while nothing in the world was free, and he couldn’t just become a God right off the bat, this gave him a real shot at surviving.

But after being desperate for that long, would Bruce really be satisfied with just surviving?

Zhang Zian decided to continue the pet store until he couldn’t support it anymore. His parents had loved pets very much. If they were looking down from heaven, they would be sad to see the store go.

Although it was a good wish, he knew nothing about running a pet store. There was a first time for everything, though; he believed he would find a way, one step at a time. 

His first goal would be relatively small—to establish a solid footing in the city. 

He had a big breakfast at a street vendor and felt energized. He returned to the store, moved the cages and display cases out, dusted with a broom, soaked the mop in disinfected water, and mopped the floor until it was nice and shiny. He moved the cages and display cases back after the floor had dried.

He also wanted to renovate the store, but he gave up on that thought after realizing the shortage in cash flow.

When he was cleaning the store, some neighbors walked by and expressed their sympathies for his loss. Some neighbors didn’t know him and just looked at the cages and display cases with curiosity.

When the sun started to rise, he finished cleaning. All the dust and odors were completely gone, leaving only the fresh scent from the disinfecting water. It smelled just like before.

His parents had always taught him to keep a clean mind and live a clean life. 

He had gotten all sweaty from cleaning the store. He moved the reclining chair to the door and rested for a few minutes. 

Now that he had decided to take over the pet store, there had to be some paperwork to handle. First, he needed to change the owner’s name from his parents to his name on the business license. He was not familiar with the procedure, so he started researching online using his cell phone.  

"I have to go to the notary’s office. So much work!"

In order to inherit and transfer the pet store to his name, he needed to get an inheritance notarization using his ID card, the deed for the pet store, and his parents’ death certificates.

Zhang Zian always tried to avoid dealing with troublesome matters like that because he hated them. He was not even sure how he made such an irrational decision like inheriting the pet store.

He wanted to have a fresh mind and pull himself together. No matter how sad he was, he should not show his tears to the customers.

He opened the app store in his cell phone and started a search with "pet" as a keyword. He wanted to see if there was an app which would teach people how to run a pet store, although deep in his mind he didn’t think he would be able to find it.

Umm, what was that?

A game with a "limited time download" sign showed up in the search results.

Some apps and software were free for a limited time, but this was the first time he ran into something tagged "limited time download."

He laughed. He achieved his goal to freshen up his mood. 

Exaggerating! This was way over the line!

It might be possible to capture virtual pets, but how was it possible to capture a real pet with a cell phone? It even mentioned capturing mythical creatures... Unbelievable!

There was a countdown next to the game, showing that there were only 00 hours, 00 minutes, and 49 seconds left to download.

"Let’s see if this really is a ‘limited time download’!"

He hit the "download" button, and the download shortly reached full speed. 

This game was pretty large. Hopefully it wasn’t a virus!

He hesitated. When he was about to cancel the download, it showed "download completed!" on his cell phone.

Almost at the same time, the downloading page disappeared. The app store went back to the home page automatically. 

He put the keyword "pet" in the search bar again.

"Oh really?! Nothing?!"

The result showed nothing was matching his keyword. 

He didn’t want to give up yet. He added "hunter" after "pet" as keywords, but still nothing came up.

"This game is really a limited time download… What does the developer want?" he murmured to himself, confused.

Developers made games for marketing. The more players there were, the broader the influence. The broader the influence, the more money the game would make. Even free games earned reputation for the developer. Limiting the time to download meant limiting traffic. Who would do something like that? 

A dialogue popped up on his cell phone: Install? 

He chose "Yes."

Installing…

Installation completed. "Confirmed" or "Open"?

He chose "Open."

The logo of "Pet Hunter" showed up on the screen.

He used the fingerprints on his right hands for online banking. Just in case it was a scam, he used his left hand to record the fingerprints.

The background looked like the deep dark night. A shining white light was jumping lightly.

Qiu Bin didn't expect to sell this many copies. Why? Because the target audience for this game had significant overlap with Plants vs Zombies, and the fans of Plants vs Zombies would be on Chen Mo's side!
It might not have mattered so much if there wasn't a bet, but now that there is one, the fans of Plants vs Zombies who wanted to play Guardian of the Holy Spring would wait until next month before purchasing the game.
Of course this meant that Qiu Bin would lose a portion of his players.
Luckily, Emperor Dynasty Entertainment was very supportive. Under the various methods of advertising, Guardian of the Holy Spring managed to capture the attention of players who haven't played Plants vs Zombies. This allowed Guardian of the Holy Spring to double the performance of Plants vs Zombies.
However, Qiu Bin couldn't say that he had this in the bag, as he had yet to check out Chen Mo's game.
It didn't take long before Qiu Bin found Chem Mo's new game, I Am MT.
"He really did use the animated series to advertise for his game. However, how does the game play? Did it really recreate the vast universe?"
Filled with his own suspicions, Qiu Bin clicked the download button.
"Hmm? That can't be right!"
Qiu Bin was shocked.
He realised that the game was free!
If it was a game that required purchase, the button wouldn't be download, but purchase instead.
Chen Mo wanted to bet on the first month's profits, and he decided to make a free to play game?
Qiu Bin was shocked as to what Chen Mo was planning.
The assistant asked, "What's wrong? Why are you so shocked?"
Qiu Bin replied with disbelief, "Chen Mo's new game is free to play! Free!"
The assistant was also shocked, "It can't be! That would make sense if the bet was on downloads, but the bet is on the income of the first month!"

Qiu Bin was stunned. How could Chen Mo reproduce that enormous world with one hundred and seventy megabytes? It couldn't be a bait and switch!
Full of suspicions, Qiu Bin tapped on the icon and launched the game.
After I am MT went online, despite not having a promoted spot like on the Emperor Dynasty gaming platform, it still recieved a good amount of attention.
The first players of I am MT consisted of the players from Plants vs Zombies, viewers of I am MT, as well as the bystanders wanting to see the end of the bet.
These people were coming either based on Chen Mo's reputation from the last game, coming from the story of I am MT, or just trying to stay on top of the drama.
In the end, they were met with the same thoughts Qiu Bin had.

At first, a large portion of players were contemplating if they should purchase the game. But after noticing it was free, they downloaded the game before asking any further questions.
The game was free to play anyways, and one hundred and seventy megabytes wasn't much. It's for the better to download first and talk later. The game can be deleted if it wasn't fun, and they wouldn't lose anything in the process.
Chen Mo had made his own preparations, advertising the mobile game on his Weibo as well as at the end of the most recent I am MT episode.
"The mobile game by the same name is now live! Battle alongside MT and Shaman! Completely free, with no ads!"
Of course, these were just buzzwords to get the game out there. In the previous world, upon seeing the word "free", most players would mutter the words, "Another pay to win game!"
But it wasn't the same in this world. Most players in this world were still quite innocent, and were shocked upon seeing the word "free" while promising no ads.

So, a customer called me over the phone and asked me on what is the best antivirus he should get, which would protect his PC from getting hacked.

I recommended Kaspersky Internet Security and I said to him that he has to pay for it.

"Pay for it?" he says... "That's stupid."

I told him; "You pay for protection, you pay for its price."

"Why should I pay for an antivirus when I can get for free?"

I explained the beneficial difference of paying for an antivirus that has all the security features and having a free antivirus. Of course, there is some free antivirus that you can upgrade for premium features like the Big Triple A's (in reference to Avira, Avast, and AVG).

He says "Ok. I will just download from torrent."

Hours later, he calls back to tell me that Kaspersky is a bad antivirus program. He explains that it did not do its job even for a pirated copy. Because, he explains that everytime it updates... It gets a notification every 5 seconds that Kaspersky is not working. Do take note that when you download a pirated copy of Kaspersky, it would definitely do that.

So, I told him that he should reinstall it instead or buy a license key. And he said he doesn't want to buy. He wants to get it for free and ranted at me angrily that I should install it (the pirate copy of Kaspersky) for him. I explained that "even if I installed it and you pay me, I rather let you buy the software (antivirus with Internet security features) instead because they're of the same price".

He ended the call afterward. Not one word heard from him again about this issue. Either he paid for the program or probably went to buy an Apple Macintosh.

And if you ever wondered why I am very hesitant to install the pirate software he provided, it's because I am pretty sure he is sure ready to shift the blame on me.

If you feel down and work in customer service or similar, this book has all the compilations of my experiences of being a computer technician, a former profession that I have always been into. But most of the names are either marked out or just modified. The stories are mostly what I have experienced either terrifying or just humored in some way that whether I understood the customer or not. Regardless, I hope you find it funny in its own way.
