Media Factory is quite a famous book publishing company, however, its scale is smaller than the first-tier book publishing company in this country since it is fully focussed on publishing both manga and light novels. 

Haru also had thought to publish a normal book in the future, but for now, he wanted to focus on both manga and light novels and made it the best company that would produce anime, manga, music, and games.

Why is he interested in this business?

Because the market of this business is very big and he also needs the IP (Intellectual Property) of the story in this company. 

Haru knew that the quest in the Group Chat might be related to the work of something in the manga, anime, or even a movie in this world. 

That was why he decided to win the company since he could learn the plot of each story faster than being a consumer. Being able to learn the plot faster meant that he could prepare the quest better before he entered another world for the quest. 

The trip was quite good and the four of them went to the Media Factory since it had officially become his. 

Haru had entered the company before and the employee of the company had also known him since it was also shocking news when they learned that their new boss was very young. However, at the same time, they were relieved since they knew that their boss was a writer and wasn't someone who was clueless in this industry.

They had also met him a week ago when he went to visit this company and they wouldn't think that he was a high school student.

His plan had always been to create a video hosting website, however, that website wasn't something similar to a youtube, rather it was more similar to a Twitch, Niconico, or Bilibili.

"For the server, you don't need to worry since  I own a computing cloud," Haru said. "No matter how many people will access our website, it won't cause a lag or crash."

Haru told them to discuss the regulation of the website with themselves along with setting up the price of the subscription. 

The price of the subscription is very important since it can't be too expensive, but it also needs to give them a benefit 

Haru thought for a while and said, "How about 540 yen per month?" 

They thought that it was very cheap to only pay that much each month, but they also thought that it was quite a good price for the subscription. 

If they multiply 540 yen to 10 million people then it means that their income can reach 5.4 billion yen each month. 

It is also possible to become bigger in the future. 

They also didn't need to pay the server since Haru had a cloud computing making the cost of the website less since it was Haru's company. (They need to pay too since it is a different business, but of course, the price is cheaper).

Of course, to attract people to subscribe to their website, they also need to have good content. 

Their talk was quite long, but their eyes were full of spirit and they couldn't wait to set up a new division in this company.

In the past 300 years, virtual technology has gone through countless upgrades that have perfected the virtual idol, but all these breakthroughs were built on the foundation of the Reg Dimension. You could say the Reg Dimension was the cornerstone of virtual technology.
Reg Smith created the Reg Dimension, laying the groundwork for the golden age of virtual idols, but 300 years later, Reg Smith and the golden age were long gone. That wasn't the program’s fault. The key was human talent.
Human expertise was the driving force behind the Reg Dimension, the "hand of god" that shaped virtual idols.
If he had the choice, Fang Zhao would've loved to time travel to 300 years ago and see the golden age of virtual idols for himself, the period so well-documented in books and film. Footage wouldn’t leave as deep of an impression as the real thing.
Back in the real world, Fang Zhao had a problem on his hands. He could find the technical expertise, but first he had to decide what his virtual idol would look like.
The book said, "In the Reg Dimension, you’re an artist with a pencil or a sculptor with a chisel, ready to bring your dreams to life."
Fang Zhao’s dilemma: what would he draw or sculpt if he had a pen or chisel?
Just as Fang Zhao was deep in thought, he had visitors—three of them, no less.
The head of the arrangement department, Ya Erlin, operations head Julian, and the head of back office operations, Bu Lai, showed up together.
"Geez, what a rare sight it is to see someone on this floor again." Ya Erlin raised his seemingly boneless finger and pointed at the corners of the office. "It’s still too empty."

The trio were curious about the project. They also felt that it was poor form to assign such a dead-end project to a newcomer, not to mention the newcomer who performed the best in the new talent contest. Wasn’t this hazing?
Even though they felt bad, they would never take on the project themselves. All Bu Lai was offering was to throw some resources his way. They didn’t want to touch the project itself.
"Fang Zhao, I know your expertise is composition. How much do you know about virtual idols?" Julian asked.
When it came to their age, Fang Zhao was much older than even Bu Lai, the oldest of the group, but he was trapped in a young body. Sensing their patronizing attitude, Fang Zhao didn’t take the conversation seriously. As for Julian’s question, Fang Zhao pondered and said, "Virtual idols are like Xun Huai and Fei Lisi."
The three department heads went silent for several seconds. That was a tough comment to follow up on.
After a while, Julian joked, "Don’t set your bar too high, young man. Otherwise you’ll be disappointed.
Everyone knew the other two Big Three companies excelled at producing virtual idols, especially Tongshan True Entertainment. Anyone they launched drew tens of millions of fans. Xun Huai was another success. They had even started putting him in movies, which meant he would become even more popular. The two-bit virtual idols of Silver Wing were no match.
"There’s no need to set your sights on Xun Huai and Fei Lisi. Ai, just do your best. If you fail, we won’t blame you," Bu Lai said with a sigh.
Hovering in the horizon, Ya Erlin rolled his eyes. Sure, they wouldn’t blame Fang Zhao, but the higher ups were a different story.
"Do the three of you have favorite virtual idols?"
"Of course." Ya Erlin was about to say something but pretended to laugh instead. "That was so long ago. It’s not worth mentioning."
Fang Zhao shifted his gaze to Julian and Bu Lai. The two of them weren’t in a sharing mood either.
"We were just concerned. Fang Zhao, we gotta get back to work." Bu Lai waved and headed out.
"I should get going too."
"Me too."
Julian and Ya Erlin followed suit. Barely out the door, Ya Erlin was glad he had stopped his train of thought. If he said too much and Fang Zhao created a virtual idol based on his ideas, he would be blamed for the failed project too.
"Thank God I caught myself. Thank God."
After the three department heads left, Fang Zhao was just a few more pages into his book when another person showed up.
The new arrival was about 30. His beard was a mess and his palm-length hair resembled a mop. There was a mark on his face, probably made when he fell asleep on his desk. This was the lone staffer Du Ang had mentioned.
"How are you? I’m Zu Wen, a technician in the virtual idol department."
"I’m Fang Zhao, the new producer." Fang Zhao signaled Zu Wen to find himself a chair.
Zu Wen pulled up a chair casually and sat down, legs spread. "I know about you. The whole department has heard."
Fang Zhao knew his new reputation didn’t stem from the new talent contest. Even though the competition was important to newcomers, it wasn't not so important to other staffers. He had an idea where his newfound renown derived from.
The whole company knew that the virtual idol project had been dumped onto a newcomer from the composition department. It was a hot topic on internal message boards. A techie like Zu Wen had to be up to date.
"So we’re the only two people left on the project?" Fang Zhao asked.
"Yep, it’s just us two," Zu Wen responded lackadaisically. "There used to be three more people. They applied for transfers this morning when they heard you were assigned to the project."
So before Fang Zhao’s arrival, the virtual idol department hadn’t been gutted entirely. There were four staffers this morning. The department hadn’t had a manager since last year’s project failed. The last department head/producer was still hospitalized. Word has it he took the failure hard and was mired in deep depression. He’d been resting in the hospital since. No one knew exactly how he was doing.
Since they didn’t have a boss, the staffers behaved like carefree shepherds, signing in and then napping and gaming until the workday was over. Their pay wasn’t great, but it didn’t require much effort.
After word spread that the department was being revived, the three staffers fled.
"Why did you decide to stay?" Fang Zhao asked. "How come everyone else left and you decided to stay?"
"I didn’t transfer in time," Zu Wen said with a yawn. "I fell asleep writing my transfer application. I just woke up."
Fang Zhao: "…..."
No wonder Du Ang didn’t lash out at Zu Wen when he caught him napping. He was probably afraid that he would scare off the final employee.
Zu Wen kept yawning. Fang Zhao suddenly asked, "You follow any pop stars?"

However, the elfin may be constantly moving among the bookshelves.

The only floor he hadn't visited was the fifth floor … the Digital Reading and Exchange Area. The readers could read electronic books and communicate with each other on the fifth floor.

She did not want to come under public opinion lest it sparked off a controversy. The case itself seemed complicated and mysterious. More importantly, the murderer was still at large, and she did not want to cause trouble for herself.
However, the young ladies in her chat group were so fired-up over the similarity between the police case and her novel that they kept inquiring about the subsequent plot development.
Xiang Wan did not have a lot of really loyal and devoted readers. Most of them were females, and there were a few who supported her fervently as if they were her sisters.
But there was a possibility that one of them might be the murderer…
Xiang Wan tensed up as she tried to find anyone who might seem suspicious in her chat group. Nonetheless, her readers were no different from usual. They were laughing, teasing, scolding, and arguing with each other, seemingly unaffected by anything. Nothing felt off.
Is this really just a coincidence?
When Bai Muchuan called, Xiang Wan was leaning on her computer desk sorting out her digital manuscript.
Upon hearing his low-pitched voice, she felt all her hair stand on end out of reflex as she tightened her grip on the phone.
"Detective Bai, is anything the matter?"
"Send your subsequent plot development to me."
This request was reasonable but Xiang Wan felt helpless about it. "Didn't the police take everything on my mobile phone today? That's all I have…" 
She paused abruptly. Looking back at the computer screen, where her readers were still engaged in a heated conversation, she suddenly recalled something.
"No! I've sent out two different versions of detailed plot outlines!"
There was a short pause before Bai Muchuan replied, "What do you mean?"
Xiang Wan sat upright. Like a master of deductive reasoning who was suddenly baptized by the light of wisdom, she clenched her fists tightly till her palms felt moist.
"The chapter I posted online at midnight is actually my second version, modified from my first. In my first version, I designed the murderer as a woman with a penchant for abusing cats. On the second day of the murder, she threw three cats which were tortured to death by the trash bin outside the home of the tycoon and burned them. Some readers found it too disturbing and felt nauseous, so I… ahem!"
She stopped talking as she feared that she might be regarded as a psychopath for writing such an appalling plot.
"Detective Bai, are you still listening?"
"Continue!" Bai Muchuan's voice sounded normal as usual.
Xiang Wan was unable to ascertain his emotions. The urge to want to quickly solve the crime made her language ability degenerate rapidly. Hence, she could not put forth her thoughts clearly.
She looked at the time on her laptop screen nervously. "The burning of the dead cats in my plot took place the night after the crime, which happens to be tonight…" Xiang Wan furrowed her eyebrows. "If the murderer is really replicating my story to commit crimes, we can go check it out now, and we might be able to…"
"Come downstairs in five minutes time," interrupted Bai Muchuan.

Xiang Wan had written many cases before, but it was the first time she came into contact with a criminal case in reality.
In five minutes time, she washed her face, changed her clothes, checked herself in the mirror, and applied a light colored lipstick.
Her last action was considered "out of the norm". She told herself she did that to preserve the dignity of a novelist. She did not want to go out with an ashen face and colorless lips that suggested she was frightened by what happened.
Bai Muchuan's police car was parked just below the building of her tiny apartment.
An air of gravity and solemnity pervaded the surrounding area from where he stood——same as his expression where one would feel fear and wonder at the same time.
A few meddlesome neighbors popped out their heads for a look then drew back.
Xiang Wan walked over. She was puzzled that he could arrive here within such a short period of time. "You're in the vicinity?"
Bai Muchuan did not say anything but opened the door for her like a gentleman.
The narrow alley was still the same as when she came back earlier, with several dim lights lined up in fixed intervals amidst the darkness. As Detective Bai was with her, she did not experience the tingling feelings of anxiety which felt as though a feather was tickling her heart and clawing up her throat.
"Detective Bai, are there any new developments? Any new clues?"
Her greetings in the form of questions were in fact inappropriate.
But as the case was linked to her in a way, her brain cells were so active that those words just spewed out unconsciously.
Bai Muchuan was looking straight ahead. "No."
His cold, curt reply snubbed out Xiang Wan's curiosity.
The car sprinted smoothly on the road to Jin City.
She kept her mouth shut in embarrassment, occasionally sneaking a few glances from the corner of her eye at Bai Muchuan's chiseled side profile. Her occupational habit got activated on this short journey——her unique "Character Study by Xiang".
She had been assisting the police all day at the Criminal Investigation Unit. She even had a box of rice and a bottle of water there. Naturally, it was not uncommon to have overheard some gossip.
Detective Bai was just transferred from the National Central Bureau of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) to serve as the Captain of the Criminal Investigation Unit in the Hongjiang District of Jin City, which could be considered a demotion.
That meant he was there to temporary serve in a lower level unit for a period of time and would get a promotion when he went back to the Central Bureau.
For such a person, although she would not know if he was competent in his job, she did know that his background was not something she could be up against.
"You don't like cats?"
His question out of the blue made Xiang Wan jumped. "Eh?"
"Why did you think of cat abuse?"
He explained his question with a serious face, yet somehow, there was a cold feeling of craftiness. Xiang Wan had the feeling that she was back at the cramped interrogation room.
She clasped her hands nervously, turned her head, and looked at her own reflection on the glass window. "When I wrote the first version of my plot outline, cat abuse happened to be on breaking news…"
"Ha!" Bai Muchuan sneered, "What a coincidence!"
Xiang Wan could hear the obvious doubt in his tone, and her cheeks started to burn a little.
Writing a character whose background was similar to that of the deceased Zhao Jiahang, followed by the plot of cat abuse which she explained as something she saw on breaking news, it was no wonder she was treated as a suspect.
"You don't understand how authors work. Continuous, daily updates of chapters are very draining to the mind. Sometimes, I feel like my brain is totally fried…"
"We're reaching soon!" Bai Muchuan was obviously not interested in her profession. "Which trash bin?"
"Ah?" She could not react in time.
"Which trash bin did you throw the cats in?"
"…" Is this guy laying a trap for her?
"I didn't throw the cats," gasped Xiang Wan. "I only wrote a plot outline which I've abandoned. It was just something casual I wrote that could not be published. In short, I did not specify the exact trash bin where the cats got disposed of."
Bai Muchuan turned to take a look at her. The car stopped, parked not too far away from the trash bins outside Zhao's villa.
Xiang Wan watched as Bai Muchuan alighted from the car. His back view seemed to merge with the night. A sudden chill seemed to spread from her toes while she was still inside the car.
"Wait for me!" She opened the door in a haste to follow him.

The late night sky was pitch dark. 
It was now late at night, and the whole sky was pitching black.
The area around the villa was very quiet. There was a strange foul odor in the air, seemingly coming from the trash bins.
Meowww!
Before Xiang Wan was able to walk up to Bai Muchuan, she was taken aback when a cat bolted out from behind the trash bins.
Lurking behind the trash bin in the night, the stray cat was like the devil's advocate——totally frightening.
Xiang Wan felt her heart shrunk. She held her breath as she stared at the black trash bin.
One second!
Two seconds!
Three seconds!
A while later, Bai Muchuan calmly straightened himself and removed his gloves. Xiang Wan felt her spine frozen by the sharp glint in his eyes as he turned around.
"The trash bin has burnt marks. Cat carcass, two."
Although there was a slight deviation of two dead cats instead of three, but what happened totally matched the initial version of the plot outline she wrote.
With the overlapping of multiple plots, this couldn't be a simple coincidence anymore!
Bai Muchuan called up the forensics team to send men down to gather evidence.
Xiang Wan stood in a daze for a long time.
"That plot outline, who did you send it to?" Bai Muchuan quietly walked two steps toward her, his tall shadow blocking her now pallid face. 
As though shrouded in a layer of impermeable shadow, Xiang Wan's mind went blank and she sounded out of breath as she spoke.
"I remember… I remember now!"
With his feet stepping on her shadow under the moonlight, Bai Muchuan fixed his gaze on her eyes. 
The scene was cold in an unusual way. Xiang Wan's eyes looked terrified. Fear sprouted from her and gripped her heart tightly.
"That woman, the woman at the alley…"


Aspiring author Xiang Wan was deemed hopeless by her family and better off married when her fourth novel still did not do well. 
Just as she started to doubt herself and wonder if she should continue to pursue her dream as an author, things take an unexpected turn when a dazzling guy appears before her and she was taken away by the police as a prime suspect of a murder case.

This is a novel encompassed with mystery, ethics, family ties, and romance. Of course, the highlights of this book are the murder cases. 
Although it’s a modern setup where none of the characters have a system or any other cheats, the Author managed to delight me with her writing, creative plots and a good pace without dragging her story. 
I marvel at the way the Author links up the clues and plot to explain the individual cases as well as paving the way to unravel the huge conspiracy behind the individual murders. Romantic plots are light-hearted so readers could take a breather from the plots of gruesome murders.

Alex was walking to the library. He had a strong love for thriller books. He always find time to read, even under hectic workdays. The library was just one block away from his office. So, he visited it on a daily basis and borrowed books often. As usual, he entered the library to greet the librarian, who was a very friendly man. But, he was nowhere to be seen today. Instead a young lady occupies the librarian's chair. 
Alex felt awkward, because he waved to the seat as usual, but today, the person on the seat was a lady that he didn't know. Catherine was at first surprised to see a stranger waving at her like he knew her well. Then, she understood what happened, by the look on Alex's face. He had a sheepish look on his face. Anyway, he walked up to the lady and asked "Is Martin on leave today? ". "No, he was transferred from here. It was unexpected. And, I'm the new librarian ", she replied with charm. "Oh, I didn't knew that! Why would he be transferred, all of a sudden? ", Alex questioned politely. "Well, this is a government library. They do such things more often here. Only god knows, what is in their minds" she chuckled. Alex smiled and extended his hands to her "I'm Alex, one of your daily faces". "I'm Catherine. Pleasure meeting you", she replied.
Alex was impressed by her. A good-looking and charming young lady. He went on to his world of thriller books. As usual, he started choosing a book. Presently, he was into Dan Brown books. Such a classy writer! Alex always thought about the work, the writer should've done, inorder to complete the book. And he felt Dan Brown outruns most of the authors in that aspect. He took out Digital Fortress from the collection and went over to his usual seat, near the glass window.
After spending an hour on the book, he went to the librarian to request a borrowal, before leaving. Catherine grinned at him. "Where are you from? ", Alex asked her. "I live nearby, just 5 blocks from here", she replied. "Oh, I thought you were transferred from a long way to here", Alex said. "No, I'm new to the profession. And I was lucky enough to grab an opportunity in this library", she answered his doubt. "Ok. I would like to borrow this book...", Alex continued and took a few minutes to leave the library. He discovered a newfound liking for Catherine. He found her extremely beautiful and charming. Alex walked back home, thinking about Digital Fortress, but with intervening thoughts of Catherine from time to time.
