SALEM: We went back to sleep. And by that I mean I sat against the wall, while Elina lay in the bed.

But something was different this time.

She lay on her side, her silver eyes wide open, staring at me. Like an owl. Like a goddess peering into my soul.

A moment of silence. Her eyes turned contemplative, although I couldn't tell what she was thinking.

She closed her eyes and turned her back to me.

Was she satisfied? I don't know.

She said, "Good night."

Her usual playful tone was gone. Something in her voice. A feeling I couldn't quite define. Maybe it was melancholy. Or maybe a tinge of regret. I'm not a poet. I'm not a romantic either. I don't have a way with words.

I breathed out. The tension left my body.

For the first time in days, I fell asleep.

While Damien continued to chase her by attacking the black witch with a series of arrows shooting at her, Penny stopped running. 
"I need air," Penny muttered under her ragged breath. Air, that was right, thought Penny to herself and looked at the black witch, her green eyes trained on the creature before she raised both her arms, opening her palms to create a wind that started to blow from the other direction that made it difficult for the black witch from moving fast and further away. 
Damien who had caught up to the woman threw the rod that launched to tie the black witch in the air with barbed wires and bring her down. 
Penny placed her hands on her knees, she felt less useless now. Feeling a little proud and happy for her thinking and ability, she caught up to Damien who was looking down at the black witch who had completely turned and was struggling to get away from the iron binds. The more the black witch tried to move the more the iron bit into the creature's body to cause more pain. 
Damien with no tact used his shoe to poke the black witch's back, "I wasn't done talking to you for you to run away like cinderella. What's your name?" he asked to only receive incoherent voices coming out from her. 
To make sure they wouldn't be attacked by another black witch or by a witch hunter, the black witch was pulled into another house. The black witch appeared to look like a fish who was trying to get back in the water and that meant away from them. 
Damien used the electric rod on the black witch which gave jolts of electric shocks similar to mini thunderbolts. 
"Willing to talk yet? I can do this all day long," Damien said, poking the rod to see the electric spark come out of the rod that shook the black witch's body turning her angrier with every touch of the rod. 
This wasn't working, thought Penny to herself. Instead of making her talk, the black witch was getting angry and angry as if she would burst out and rage any moment, "Hold on," Penny said, stopping Damien from having his little time of enjoyment. 
Walking to the trunk that had been placed in this house, Penny unlocked it and pulled out a small bottle that had a pink liquid in it. Going back to the black witch, she opened the knob and startle to sprinkle it all around the black witch's face so that the creature would take in the air. 
"What's that? Beauty product on how to make black witch pretty?" Damien asked he closed the rod that was generating sparks. 
"Father Antonio was working on a truth potion and we found out when Evelyn arrived that day to find out what was potions where being created along with the weapons," Penny replied to it whilst waiting for the potion to take effect on the black witch, "Though his potions were being done wrong it took me a while to understand what and why he was creating it. Jera had once told me that a year ago, black witches had stepped into the church in the name of being white witches and had killed two of the church witches. Father Antonio didn't want people who didn't belong there enter and therefore he sprinkled this on the visitors in the name of God but it wasn't perfected."
"Father Antonio was lacking the spells?"
Penny gave him a nod, "Yes, but also, the spell didn't belong to the white witches or black witches, it came under the forbidden magic. The truth potion is not supposed to be created for the chaos that might occur in this world. The price is much higher to pay than a lone magic," saying this, she pulled her sleeve up to show her skin that had changed, "I didn't know it was going to push me in that direction."
Damien's eyes narrowed at what she was saying. The skin had changed its color as well as texture to show the signs of a black witch, "You must be joking with me," he said unhappily to know and he then asked, "I didn't see it a week ago," he was talking about the time they had made love to each other.
"It didn't show up at that time because the signs came to show up late," she sighed softly. 
Damien stared at Penny's hand for a second more before saying, "We'll get it checked once we go back to Bonelake," Penny smiled looking at him, she could see the gears in the back of his head move and twist at what he just saw. 
To have the woman he loved to turn to a black witch wasn't something that worried him but it would make her already hard life harder. 
Life for a white witch was difficult and for a black witch, it was worse because it was assured that the black witches never meant anything to be good and were the ones to harm people around them. No matter if they were previously white witches, people didn't care about it. The bottom line was the white witches turned corrupted like pureblooded vampires, turning them to something vile as darkness took over their mind. 
He could now understand that what had taken place on her skin wasn't something that had occurred due to the potion but the effect had taken place and impacted when they were in Valeria. The potion she had created had given her body the push that was needed in pushing forth the signs forward. 
Damien understood why she could now tell who the black witches were, she could see them unlike before and though it wasn't a constant ability she had acquired, the reason was that her body was changing and he was worried. 
"I am fine," Penny assured him but the black witch who had been tied around the barbed wire started to cackle. 
"You are turning to one of us. How interesting. It will feel wonderful when the hunter becomes hunted," the black witch laughed to show her dirty teeth that were black and brown in color. 
"I was partly one of you but someone once told me," Penny said looking in the eye of the black witch, "What people say doesn't define you. It is the path that you chose to walk on is what you become and what you are. You picked the path of darkness while I will still choose the light," she said smiling down at the woman who again laughed.
"White witches and their self-righteousness that brings them to their graves."
"What is your name?" Penny questioned wanting to see if the potion had taken effect on the black witch. 
"Circe," the witch struggled to speak the words as if it were being forced by the potion. 
"She is all yours to ask," Penny said, moving away from the black witch and letting Damien take over her place. Walking towards the wall, she leaned her back before letting her body slide and she sat down on the ground watching Damien look at the black witch. 


"Who touched you?" he asked, his eyes brooding down at her and when she didn't answer, his voice thundered in the room, "WHO?"

The butler who stood near the wall spoke shakily, "Sir, it was Mr. Reverale," Damien's face turned sour, his jaw ticking in anger he turned his face to the side where the butler stood behind.

"Bring the man here."

"N-now?" stuttered the butler. It was the time of night.

Damien who hadn't broken his eye contact with the girl in front of him, pushed his hand against the wall which now rested beside his beautiful girl's head. Turning his body, he first looked at his butler who had his head bowed. With great courage, the butler came to meet his Master's eyes, "Do you have any other better time? Or should it be after I wring your neck?" Damien asked calmly tilting his head. Not a second later, the butler ran out of the room to return back with Mr. Reverale after twenty minutes.

"Damien, are we having a late tea party?" Mr. Reverale came to greet but the master of the house had other plans. Spotting the knife that was stuck to the apple on the table, he reached for it to pull it out.

Just as Mr. Reverale went to exchange a handshake with him, Damien took hold of his hand to place it on the table. In one swift movement as if he were chopping onions, he chopped the four fingers of the man off his hand making him yelp and cry in pain.

"No one touches what is mine. I am sure this will remind you the next time you even think about touching her," sighed Damien as if he were tired of telling people to keep their dirty hands off his belongings.

Claus' pov 

It had been twenty minutes since Tristane opened the portal and Lucian went back inside. When he was convinced it was time to reopen it he had gathered his magic. I saw the trunk turned into something like a mirror. I caught a glimpse of trees and a wide grassy land. But no one was there. 

Where is Lucian? 

"He's not here." Tristane said. 

"Yet. Hold it until he comes back." I said. 

He scoffed, "I'll give him enough time. But I will close this as soon as it gets bad." 

I nodded. All this witch business had been bad enough, we can't afford another one. Alpine Forest was bustling with animal activity but no one dared come near. They must've sensed the magic and were too afraid to approach. 

"Didn't Lucian say something horrible happened there?" I asked him. 

"He did not define what horrible was, but you can see it from here. It's a freaking paradise." 

He was right. Even though the opening was small I could see the cloudless sky and array of endless woodland. An isolated paradise indeed. No signs of anything horrible in sight. Has Lucian been seeing things? 

There was a crackling sound and I saw Tristane flinched. "What happened?" 

"The magic is fighting back. Emma never opened it this long." 

"Can you still hold?" 

He nodded but sweat had beaded his forehead. His lips were pale. 

Lucian. Hurry. 

I stared at the other side. How far was he out there? 

"Mayhap, I can go inside and find them." 

"No." 

"Tristane, they might need help." 

"No, Claus." 

"What if they were injured? I can go. I can run carry at least one of them." 

"You go inside and the magic will eat you." He stared at me with warning, "The other side was made to hold two people and it does not recognize you. Take one step inside and you'll find yourself eaten." 

"Define eaten." 

"Don't push it Claus. I am not letting you inside." 

"What do you mean I will be eaten?" 

He did not want to tell me but what can he really do? "You'll be torn apart. First they'll go for your blood then tear your flesh out, you'll be...devoured." 

I felt my skin crawl with chill, "That does not sound a good way to die." 

"No, it does not. And remember, you are borrowing Patrick's body. You harm yourself you harm him." 

"He is her father, will that not recognize their blood?" 

"No. Emma recently recreated the spell to accommodate Krista and it only knows her." 

My shoulders slumped, the witch was dead but was still holding our necks. 

"Is there anything we can do?" 

"Yes." 

"What?" I asked. 

"We wait." 

Damnation. 

We wait then. 

The beyond 

Lucian's pov 

I was half running and half walking towards the portal when Krista gained consciousness. She stared at me like I was a dream. 

"Lucian..." 

I looked down at her, "Hang on Krista. We're almost there." 

"Save yourself. Leave...me..." 

"No. I will not." 

We heard thunder. I looked up. The clouds have reformed into dark groups again. 

"It's happening again." I said. 

"Go Lucian...just leave me.." 

I tripped over a rock and we went sprawling into the ground. Krista landed with a painful groan. I was too preoccupied with running and failed to watch my steps. I crawled towards her. 

"Are you hurt?" 

Her amber eyes stared back at me, "I ache all over. Must have broken a..." cough, "must be broken ribs." She coughed again, blood sputtered this time. 

"Hush. Don't talk. Save your strength." 

I picked her up and almost stumbled back down, my ankle was surely twisted this time. It hurt so much. 

"The portal is open. We are going home." 

"Just go Lucian..I'll slow us down.." 

I kissed her forehead and managed to take another step, "No love. You won't." 

There was another roll of thunder and rain began to fall. If we stay here longer the soil would be turned to mud again. I broke into a jog, careful to step in rocks this time. Krista was breathing heavily against my arms. She was fighting not to cry out. 

I was just a few paces from the portal and I saw Claus standing outside. His eyes widened and he moved. I couldn't make out what he was saying but I took it that he wanted me to hurry. 

A slash of lightning cut across the skies and. We both jumped. The portal was thinning, the glow almost fading. Claus was nudging Tristane who had his hands spread out in front of him. His magic oozing from his arms. He too, stared at us with shock. 

"Hold it!" I yelled. 

The men froze, can they hear me? But they did something and I saw the portal glowing back again. 

"Almost there love. Almost there." 

I leaped out to cut the remaining distance from us. There was another thunder and lightning, a slight buzzing sound and cold breeze. The portal swallowed us and closed just in time when debris from the outside world began to fly inside. 

I crashed into Claus and we all fell down. I opened my eyes and realized I closed them awhile ago. My eyes found Claus lying on his back, his arms around mine as he supported our weight. Krista was sandwiched between us and she struggled to move. 

I pushed myself off them and carefully removed Krista from Claus' body. She was so cold. 

"Is she alright?" Claus asked. 

"Yes. But she's freezing." 

"We need to get her dry." 

I nodded and let Claus carry her for me. My ankle was throbbing so much. I heard something crashed behind me and saw Tristane pushed against the trunk, blood splattered his face. 

"Tristane.." I called to him. 

His eyes opened and found mine then he saw Krista on Claus' arms, he smiled, "You got her back." 

"Yes." 

"Good. I would've killed you if you haven't." 

"And I would've let you do it." 

His face contorted with pain and he screamed. I stepped back and saw something claw at him. It was back! 

"Tristane—" 

"Go! Take her home." He yelled back. 

"We can't leave you here." 

"It wants me. Not you. So go!" Another scream tore from his lips. Dark pointed fingers had found his neck and was making slurping noises. It was feeding. 

Claus held me back, "Lucian..." 

"No. He cannot sacrifice himself." 

"We had to do it." Claus said. 

"What? What do you mean?" 

"The portal...it was closing by the time you appeared..he had to call it again." 

I watched as Tristane fought the darkness as it fed on him. His face had turned so pale that he almost looked dead. His neck had bruised yet the demon still fed and fed. He's going to die. 

"Lucian..we have to go.." 

I couldn't hear Claus anymore. All I realized was I had thrown myself at Tristane and pulled him away from the demon. There was a loud screeching and we were knocked off. I caught Tristane's body as my back hit the tree. The demon eased itself from the trunk and began stalking us. I disturbed it's feeding. And now it's angry. 

I saw it's red eyes before I was taken by the darkness itself.

He felt oddly familiar with her like they knew each other for so long but every time he remembers something it would instantly disappear like being woken from a dream and completely forgetting all about it. Numerous nights he laid awake beside her in her bed feeling her skin, her touch, her warmth and smelling her gentle aromatic scent trying to tame his longing desire to taste her. Something in him always seeks to 

He had heard her mumble names in her sleep as she cried tears of lamentation, probably for the people who existed hundreds of years ago, people that she probably had loved and now had completely disappeared. Such a pitiful state for his witch to be like the last rose of summer. Her beauty timelessly blooming in the garden while her other companions withered and return to the dirt. Time never ceasing to pass around her, watching nations rise and collapse, and people growing and dying while she stayed frozen in time out living the things that she learned to love, breaking her heart again and again for hundreds of years. 

One thing had angered him from her midnight mumblings. A name that her lips had repeated more often than the others, pronouncing it with love or with hate in different nights. He listened more carefully when that despicable name was uttered, piercing together the pieces and trying to deduce her history with the man named 'Rel'. He wanted to spat out that name like poison in his tongue. So far he had only known that 'Rel' was her former lover though he hadn't figured out out yet if he was the one that cursed her and bound her in this land. He doesn't feel threatened because the man is most likely dead but his hold on his little witch didn't seem to falter even after thousands of years of his absence. 

But why would he feel threatened at all? What does he truly feel about the witch? His romantic gestures were only fake to tease the witch and elicit a piece of entertainment for himself because the witch have very vivid emotions which are very fun to play with but does he really hold true affections for her? Love is impossible to bloom at such a short period of time. He had always believed that love is an experience honed by time, nurtured through a long course of mutual effort, so what are these feelings that bubble up in his chest as he lay with her in bed? As he watch her prepare meals for him like a wife? As he fondly watched her smile or frown or giggle while reading her books? 

It is undeniable that he likes her. Yes he had come to terms with that but he clearly doesn't love her. At least not yet that is. Could it probably be lust? Perhaps partly since he is attracted by her curvaceous waist and delicious thighs as well as her beautiful face and slender womanly fingers. His little witch also have natural seductive tendencies especially when she's "ovulating" or whatever. Then could it be infatuation? Hmmm, infatuation is what children feels for one another, what those hormoneous teens always mistaken for love, but no. It's something deeper and more mature, after all the two of them are hundreds of years old so a petty feeling is no longer able to define the magnitude of his... well, feelings. 

Perhaps he was merely fond of her, adoring her unique personality and manipulative tendencies which he sometimes fall victim to, after all he likes cunning women with the beauty to match their wits. Yes, probably it was merely that. He was fond of her. Very fond. But where the fuck is his little witch? He's been waiting for her for about an hour now. What could she possibly be doing with that nymph that's been keeping her from him for so long? 



"That feels amazing! Let's do it again please." Callisto begged.

"I'm sorry but I have to get back to my demon. I also need to eat lunch but I do have something for you where you can do it with." Purple butterflies swirled inside the cave and gathered just between the witch and the nymph. The butterflies soon disappeared leaving behind a white haired elf tied by ropes and gagged with a red thong.

"Callisto this is Mirra. Mirra, Callisto. I found her sneaking in my property and planting dynamites in my house. One actually exploded because my demon threw the hearth's ashes outside, jeopardizing my water supply but it's being taken care of as of the moment. I am so pissed with this bitch that I had her fucked by my horse all night but I think that that's not enough.
