Carter Jones is one of your every day average teenagers. One day his luck changed when he was transported to a strange Coliseum, the Coliseum of Worlds. This story is about Carter and the challenges he faces being one of the many gladiators in the Coliseum of worlds.

The silence of the coliseum was broken by the slow applause of a figure in a glass helmet. A group of young people who were no more than 10 years old walked directly to the center of the arena. Avalanche led the group in his stylish helmet. The young man had left Greece to prove his own strength to the world. He gained the attention of Magneto himself who brought him to Genosha. Now, there was this red boy who had been advertised as having a greater talent than his and was overshadowing him.
Blob next to him was a very cute and plump boy of almost two meters who ate his snack in peace while chewing with his mouth open. There was only one thing that Blob liked more than eating, it was fighting and beating people.
Toad was a small nine-year-old boy with pale skin and slightly yellow eyes. Using his tongue he couldn't resist and attacked a fly that was flying over Kurt, clearly intimidating him.
Pyro was playing with a lighter, while looking at Dylan curiously, at that time Pyro used only an oxygen tank and his lighter as a way to ignite his flames.
"Mrs. Destiny, is it time? I wish to challenge the honorable omega mutant ". Avalanche said mockingly.
"Yes Avalanche. Let the challenges begin. Who of those present has the courage to challenge the Darkholme brothers? " Destiny's voice echoed through the coliseum.
"I also want to see if  the red can stand standing with me." Blob said arrogantly.
"I have a feeling about red, I want to see what it can do," Pyro said.
"I want the blue runt". Groxo announced.
"Precious Darkholme, this battle is a common ritual of arrival in the Genosha community, enjoy and have fun. Kurt, you and Groxo will be the first. " Destiny announced.
The purpose of battles, in addition to introducing mutants into society, was clear, to encourage rivalry and team building. Dylan went to one corner of the arena while the group of troublemakers went to another. In the stands, the Scarlet Witch smiled as she watched him.
There were many prominent acquaintances like Juggernaut with his gray beard to a blond beauty and white dress, Dylan deduced that it was Emma Frost. Perhaps at that time the White Queen was still on Magneto's side. Beside her Juggernaut was looking at Dylan and Glob. Were they both teachers or just visitors? Dylan wondered. There was a lot of this world that was different from what he knew or knew about comics.

"Begin". Sabertooth announced that he would be the judge of the fight and authorized his start.
It was an open field and the roof was eight meters away from the ground. There was no way for Toad to use the walls in his favor. Dylan thought.
Kurt started exchanging a series of punches and kicks with the frog boy. The blue boy was surprised to learn that he was winning the exchange. Fighting Dylan who was crazy about training had its benefits after all.
When Kurt had begun to underestimate Toad, the green boy spat in his eyes, with a green goo that quickly stiffened and blinded him. Kurt was not seeing anything and began to suffer a series of punches and kicks in the groin, calves and abdomen. Desperate Kurt teleported a few times at random until he managed to remove the goo from his face and regain his sight. Kurt's face was hateful. Not because I got it, but because the goo was really stinky.
Kurt teleported behind the grease repeatedly and used a combo of kicks and punches to erode his vitality. Toad became tired after successive attacks on his stomach. With a direct blow to your chin. Kurt sent Groxo to the dream world temporarily. Some solitary applause was seen in the audience.
A group of students quickly removed the frog boy from the field. Kurt waved a look at his older brother. Kurt himself was curious about his brother's strength.
"Kurt's victory. Next rookie, Dylan. Which opponent do you want to fight first? " Saber teeth asked.
"All together," Dylan said scornfully.
"You will pay for this." Avalanche snarled.
His arrogant speech made the trio's face look ugly, the crowd was excited and the students started to stand up and shout in cheer to the veterans and also the newbies.

Blob started towards Dylan like a rhino. His steps, however, were very slow. Dylan decided to make a little name for himself at that moment. After all, he wouldn't want to look bad in front of older girls.
When Blob reached Dylan he stabbed him with a right hook. Blob smiled at Dylan's arrogance. Never had anyone managed to stop a physical attack from him with just brute force, however there is always a first time for everything. Never say "you will never drink from this water".
" How is this possible?!" Blob screamed
When Blob's attack reached Dylan, the red boy simply grabbed his fist with one hand, as if it were some effort. Blob and the crowd went into shock. Then Dylan lifted Blob and started hitting him successively on the floor like a piece of cloth.

Avalanche wouldn't just watch his friend get stepped on like that and created an earthquake in the area where Dylan was stationed. Around Dylan, the ground began to break and sink. The red demon reacted in a hurry and hurled the plump boy towards the helmeted boy. Avalanche's response time was not long enough and he was knocked unconscious by the time Blob's groin reached his face. (How lucky I was with a helmet).
Pyro smiled to see his colleagues unconscious, it meant that he would have the chance to stand out, the young man drew his lighter in front of a steel hose connected to an oxygen tube.

"GHAHAHHAGHA BURN IDIOT". A fire snake came out of the steel hose connected to Pyro's back as he laughed. Dylan knew that Pyro was able to control and shape the fire but was unable to produce it. This was a fatal weakness. In any case, Pyro was the opponent he was least concerned about. Dylan decided to do a show to the public.
The fire serpent quickly caught up with Dylan causing most of the audience to swallow. Most of those present were made up of weak mutants, even a flawed ability like Pyro's was considered imposing and fatal to them. When Dylan received the attack there was no apprehension on his part, his immunity from fire was extremely useful. Dylan felt that the fire was like a bath after an exhausting day, there was no damage and his energies were being renewed.

Saber Tooth and Scarlet Witch were already prepared to invade the camp to rescue Dylan when they realized there was something wrong. Dylan didn't seem concerned at all. Pyro raised his eyebrows and doubled the size of the snake that was swallowing Dylan. Dylan started to smile and snapped his fingers, causing Pyro's flames to cease immediately. As much as he tried to produce others, it was as if the fire refused to serve him.
Dylan raised his hands in a show of power and created a fire snake five times bigger than Pyro's on his back. The snake was so long that it created a huge ring of fire around the arena.

Saber Tooth who was closest to the two boys quickly put out a small flame that reached his beard. Saber Tooth quit his life as a mercenary two years ago to serve as a combat teacher at Magneto's request. Over time, this sadistic mercenary created a hobby to make his students' lives hell and feed the physical bases of children so that they were as monstrous as he was. Of course, seeing young people so strong made him jealous but still happy as a teacher.
"Is it just me, or is it hard to breathe here?" A boy with an ant's head asked a colleague next door.
"Better to activate the barrier to contain that temperature." Scarlet Witch thought. With a casual movement a red barrier was created to isolate the battlefield.
Inside the arena, Pyro was sweaty and had a hard time breathing. With his hands on his throat he wanted to admit defeat, but he was so dry that there was no voice coming out of his vocal cords.

To end the absurd demonstration Dylan stopped his fire serpent and teleported behind Pyro and kicked him in the neck. Obviously our dear red devil has reduced his strength so as not to turn Pyro into a paste of minced meat. Dylan decided not to attack him with the snake because Pyro's tank would obviously explode. Dylan couldn't help but think he was literally a target in the back.
The silence devastated the Coliseum. Some powerful faces were thirsty for battle while others were frightened. Scarlet Witch smiled thinking that she would not accept having a weak student. Destiny smiled under her mask, still thinking that the boy gave her unfortunate heat, after all that mask was already hot.

A twelve-year-old boy wearing a brown overcoat and playing with cards in the corner of the arena smiled at the fight. Beside him a younger boy with spines on his back and shoulders also smiled.
"It won't be so tedious here, after all." Gambit smiles.
"We can expect a lot from the red, the blue I thought was a bit weak, he managed to catch it for the toad but it has a very useful power." Spike said.


 On the other side of the Arena a girl with curly hair had a solemn look, Callisto beside Arclight, Psylocke and Vanisher were looking at Dylan with ambitious eyes.
"We need to recruit them at all costs." Callisto told the self-proclaimed team as Omega.
In the center of the arena Dylan looked at the masked old woman.
"Dylan is the winner. Welcome to Genosha dear Darkholme. Send the lengths to his mother later for me. Everyone, go back to your classrooms, you won't get rid of math classes so easily "Destiny said in a sweet voice.
"You soft but weak asses, you heard." Saber Tooth growled and screamed
Dylan couldn't help thinking how funny it would be to see that rough six-foot figure teaching classes to children. Dylan felt the omega team stares at him, Juggernaut and Emma frost also gave him a shiver down his spine. Dylan waved to Gambit and Spike and withdrew to Kurt who had a huge smile on his fangs.
"I'm not going to get involved with those idiots who think they are superior just because of their powers. Dylan thought. For now they are nothing more than children and adolescents, of course. If I manage to put some judgment on their heads it can be beneficial to me. Gambit is someone worth getting closer to, just know if he is not being controlled by Mephisto ... "Dylan was lost in thought.
"Dude, you went there and first * POW * and then * BLAM * and then * TCHUM *" Kurt did a sound job while shouting excitedly and proudly that his older brother had defeated everyone.
"You did very well too, Kurt, but you let your guard down and you won hard." Dylan scolded Kurt.
"I know, brother. I feel like I lost the chance to end the battle early on. "Kurt sighed.
"Come on, don't think about it too much. It's time to go back to the classroom ... "Dylan and Kurt left being watched by everyone.

The changing society tended to split into groups to survive. Genosha was no different. Many groups and factions wanted to recruit the two brothers and were hoping for that. Dylan realized that, of course.

When classes ended, Kurt and Dylan went to the board. The princess of Genosha, the powerful Scarlet Witch, was waiting for them. Dylan notified the secretary and was soon allowed in. The room was like a traditional 19th century office. The sorceress was sitting at her table while a renowned figure was at her side, it was Juggernaut

Seeing this ultra-powerful figure from the criminal world, Dylan couldn't help but have a headache.
"Professor Wanda, here we are," Dylan announced.
"Well done Dylan, Kurt. Congratulations on your struggles. " Wanda smiled at the young children.
"You impressed me there, boy. Your strength is not bad. " Juggernaut said looking at Dylan.
"Sorry, who are you?" Dylan asked.
"Dylan, this is Juggernaut .. We were having a heated discussion because he apparently wants to kidnap you and become your teacher. Juggernaut is one of the school's protectors against external threats, after all, you children must be well protected. " Scarlet Witch said.

"I want to train you, boy. Saber Tooth knows how to teach basic blows to most children, it is true. But I can help you to overcome the limits of your strength, "Juggernaut argued.
"I also think it's valid, boy. The strength you showed against Blob, I don't think that is your limit. " Wanda said.
Dylan smiled inside. The chance to increase his super strength was all he needed!
"I accept, of course!" Dylan smiled.
"As for Kurt, I arranged for SaberTooth to train him after school. His combat level is still weak. There will be other talented children training with you.

Juggernaut and the Scarlet Witch led the demon brothers to an underground area for training, not far from the Coliseum.

Dylan Darkholme was reincarnated as the son of Mystique and Azazel and brother of Kurt (Nightcrawler). With Azazel planning a war against the Cheyarafim and seeking domination of the Earth, and so many dangers lurking against mutants and humans, how will he behave ?!

"Of course… since this is a special question with double the points on the line, naturally, it is slightly more difficult than normal questions. Please listen carefully…" Mr. Yoo raised the question card and read.
"Green Lantern… I believe everyone know that reference." He took a glance at the camera. "The power source of their green lantern ring is 'will'."
Then he lifted his head to look at Feng Bujue and continued. "In their universe, the green lantern ring represents will, then… what do the other colors of the lantern rings represent? Please name at least four of them. Your countdown starts now!"
This type of question was not going to defeat Feng Bujue. Even if it was not for gathering inspiration for his writing material, out of pure interest, he had read quite a number of comics. Therefore, he only needed to go through his memory before he came up with the answer. He opened his lips to say, "Hmm… I will answer your question according to the arrangement of colors. Red lantern, rage; orange lantern, avarice; yellow lantern, fear; green lantern, will; indigo lantern, compassion; blue lantern, hope; violet lantern, love; and finally, there is the black lantern, which represents death."
The audience was silent. Mr. Yoo looked at the answer written on his card, and he too was quiet for several seconds. And then he uttered in a quick and affirmative tone, "You are one hundred percent correct!"
Once again, the sound of thunderous applause erupted among the studio audience.
"Participant No. 1 sure is a knowledgeable person. After three questions, he has already gathered forty points while three of the other participants have got their points reverted back to zero after two rounds. Participant No. 1 is basically in an unlosable position," Mr. Yoo explained. Then he turned to look at the three special guests. "I wonder if our three special guests have any comments regarding our participant No. 1's performance today?"
The camera moved to the special guests' seat. Miss Pride surprised everyone by speaking for the first time that day. She only said a few words.
"Don't talk to me, fat geek."
Then she turned her head away with a cold scoff.
Mr. Pestilence collapsed deeper into his seat. His arm that was as thin as a stick held his chin. The skin on his body was so fair that one could see the blood capillaries pulsing underneath the skin. Seated in this pose, it made him look even more fragile than he already did. "Speaking of which… why is there not a color that represents Pestilence?"
The cameraman, a translucent spirit, turned the camera to Hephaestus. The man's comment was still as strange as before. "Tsk… They are nothing but lanterns and rings that can gather wandering energy. As long as you have enough cyclops, it is easy to mass produce such trinkets…"
"Alright, we thank our special guests for their brilliant comments." Before the man finished his sentence, Mr. Yoo quickly pulled the focus back. He turned to Xiao Tan and said, "Participant No. 2, please listen carefully. This is question number 10."
He burned the question card for the previous question and looked at the next card. "Please spell out phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency accurately in English. Your countdown starts now."
Just as the ticking sound of the timer started to echo across the studio, Mr. Yoo turned to interact with the studio audience and the viewers at home. "As all of us know, in English, medical terms are a really confusing subject, with those long and hard to memorize terms…"
"Phenylalanine hydroxylase deficiency, also known as PKU," Xiao Tan replied. For the sake of clarification, he repeated the word again, going through each letter clearly. Mr. Yoo was stunned for several seconds. He used his hand that held the microphone to push up the glasses that sat on the bridge of his nose. His beady eyes widened into saucers as he studied the correct spelling that was printed on the color. "Hmm… Your answer is correct!"
Xiao Tan's total points rose to ten, and following his correct answer came the applause of the audience.
"Looks like this question has fallen right into Participant No. 2's professional field, or he has a really command of English?" Mr. Yoo commented in the manner of a question.
"Actually, this is quite simple…"
Before Xiao Tan could finish, Mr. Yoo raised his voice to cover that of Xiao Tan and continued. "And now… Moving on…"
Mr. Yoo once again turned to Passing Rain. "Participant No. 3, now only you and Participant No. 4 are tied at zero points, so this question will be very important."
"Hmm," Passing Rain answered detachedly. Based on her attitude, it sounded like she was saying, It's no big deal.
"Please listen carefully to your question…" Mr. Yoo read from the new question card. He glanced at it and then began. "Please tell me, what does this chemical formula that appears on screen represent? Your countdown starts now!"
As he said so, on the small screen equipped on Passing Rain's control panel and on the large screen in the middle of the stage, a chemical formula appeared, c6h12o6.
Passing Rain thought about it for a while before giving her answer. "Glucose."
"Your answer is correct!" Mr. Yoo announced. Another cheer travelled through the crowd.
"Looks like all of our participants are very impressive. I wonder, will we move onto the next round, or whill this part of the quiz end at this next question?" Mr. Yoo turned to the direction of Laughing Soul.
"Hey! Are you hinting at the fact that this question might cause my total to lower to minus ten points?" Laughing Soul narrowed her eyes as she stared at the fat host. "Even if my total drops to minus ten, I still have the chance to redeem myself in the next round, right?"
"Haha… the reason I said something like that is because…" Mr. Yoo raised the next question card in his hand. "This twelfth question is another special question."
Surprised gasps came from the audience.
"Please listen to your question carefully!" Mr. Yoo read from the question card. "Please name three players who won the title of Mr. European Footballer of the Year in the twentieth century. I don't need their full names, but the nationalities of the three players cannot be repeated. Your countdown starts now!"
Laughing Soul pouted once more, and she looked like she was tricked.
"This is a question about sports. It is probably very easy for our male participants. I believe if this question was given to either Participant No. 1 or No. 2, it would basically be a free win question, and the twenty points would be given away for free. Unfortunately, it is the female participant who has drawn this question," Mr. Yoo said. "You have thirty seconds left."
"Franz Beckenbauer and Michel Platini." Laughing Soul surprised everyone by giving two answers.

"Erm… Since you do not know much about him, why would you give his name as the answer?" Mr. Yoo asked.
"Because in my memory, a lot of football players have this name, so I thought… perhaps one of them won this title of something footballer of the year," Laughing Soul replied with a laugh.
"Er…" Mr. Yoo hummed. "Fine, no matter what, your answers for this question… are correct!"
The audience clapped, and Laughing Soul's points shot up to twenty.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, and those who refuse to identify as either," Mr. Yoo said in an excited tone, "we will end the first section of Death Quiz soon. There are still four questions remaining, but let's first take a look at our four participants' scores."
"Participant No. 1 is well ahead with forty points. Participant No. 2 has ten points, and he still looks so nervous. The cool and collected Participant No. 3 also has ten points. With immense luck showing during her special question, currently Participant No. 4 has twenty points." As Mr. Yoo mentioned each player's name, the camera panned toward them one after another.

"An advantage you say…" Feng Bujue said in an interested tone. "In any case… ask your question."
"Please listen to your question carefully!" Mr. Yoo said. "The question is… 'And the will therein lieth, which dieth not. Who knoweth the mysteries of the will, with its vigor? For God is but a great will pervading all things by nature of its intentness. Man doth not yield himself to the angels, nor unto death utterly, save only through the weakness of his feeble will.' Where does this particular excerpt come from? Your countdown starts now!"
"Humph… No wonder this is the last round, the question itself is filled with trap…" Feng Bujue huffed coldly. From how he acted, it seemed like he already knew the answer. "This is an excerpt adopted from Joseph Glanvill at the start of Ligeia. It uses this to reflect the overall central message of the short story."
"So, your answer is Joseph…" Mr. Yoo heard the answer in Feng Bujue's explanation.
"But!" Feng Bujue cut him off and pointed at Mr. Yoo. "But… Ligeia's author is Edgar Allan Poe. One mustn't place too much trust in the words of a drunkard.
"Glanvill is a famed monotheist, and that is why Poe chose him. Actually, the above excerpt is written by Poe himself. He wrote these sentences and then attached them with a dash and included Glanvill's name to create the impression that he was using another writer's idea that came before him, but in reality… it was Poe's writing."
"So… your answer is?" Mr. Yoo asked for confirmation.
"Undeniably, the answer is Edgar Allan Poe," Feng Bujue said.
"Your answer is correct!" With a wave of Mr. Yoo's hand, the question card burned, and cheers and applause came from the audience.
"Phew…" Mr. Yoo sighed. "Participant No. 1 has answered all four questions correctly from the first section, and it even includes one special question. With his current total of fifty points, it is basically confirmed that he will be in first place going into the second round."
He turned to Xiao Tan. "But what about Participant No. 2?"
Xiao Tan was already breaking out in cold sweat, and he laughed drily. "Ha… ha ha… I've already made the preparation to enter that so-called coliseum…"
"Is that so? Hue hue hue…" Mr. Yoo chuckled. "But it is true that the questions for this last round will be more difficult, so… please listen carefully!

Mr. Yoo returned to the middle of the stage and faced Laughing Soul. Looking at the last question card in his hand, he said, "This sixteenth question…"

"Another special question!"

"Now, Participant No. 4, Laughing Soul's score is twenty points," Mr. Yoo explained. "If she answers this question incorrectly, her score will drop down to zero."
His way of speech was meant to draw in the audience's attention. "Looks like… we're never going to know the result until the last moment."
"Hey, fatty, if both our scores are zero, who will enter the coliseum?" Laughing Soul asked from her seat.
"Er… Fatty…" Mr. Yoo's face darkened. "Fine, that sounds like it was meant for me…"
He would have to admit it no matter what. It was only him and the spirit cameraman on the middle of the stage. If they placed the cameraman on the scale, he would probably weigh no more than twenty-one grams.

From the side, Feng Bujue raised his thumb at Laughing Soul. He was complimenting her for making the suitable strategy considering the situation, and the compliment was for a sense of friendship and camaraderie.
Xiao Tan was so overwhelmed with appreciation that he almost cried. No matter what that coliseum was, tackling it with a friend was much easier than doing it alone. It made him feel much better.
"You chose to surrender without even hearing the question… Looks like I don't even ask for your confirmation." Mr. Yoo flashed a meaningful smile. "Then… please, off we go to the coliseum!"

"I-I-I" stammers Alex, her mouth opening and closing in an attempt to speak, however her voice fails her and no sound escapes her throat.
"Jupiter and Juno have decreed Azula as their champion to decide your punishment, while Neptune and Salacia have decreed that you shall face Ambrosius in one on one combat tomorrow at noon. Should you win, you will be exempt from their punishment however, should you lose your punishment shall be decided by him." explains Lupa.
Her message delivered, Lupa begins to glow, prompting the demigods to avert their gaze, and leaves.
Alex stands there, dumbstruck by Lupa's words. Her previous sense of dread has been completely replaced with glee as she realizes that the ones to punish her won't be the gods, rather two eleven year old demigods that she believes won't be able to do her any harm due to her being more skilled than them.
She turns to Ambrosius and Azula with a smirk on her face.
"Since the gods have decreed it, I shall see you two tomorrow in the gladiatorial arena." she says as she turns to leave.
"And where exactly do you think you're going?" asks Azula with a sadistic smile on her face.
"I have yet to give you your punishment."
Hearing Azula, Alex stops walking and turns with a frown on her face.
"Fine. Let's get this over with. What's my punishment?" asks Alex.
"I noticed that you took pleasure in humiliating Ambrosius when you denied him the right to be awake when he received his tattoo. How about we make sure that you never feel pleasure again." says Azula
"You can't do that. Jupiter has no power over pleasure." says Alex.
Azula simply chuckles and walks towards Alex as her eyes begin to lightly glow pink.
"Alexandra Saxa you take pleasure in the pain and humiliation of others. For this, and your transgressions against the gods, I hereby curse you to never feel pleasure, whether it be sexual or otherwise, you may never feel it again, and may your heartbreaks amplify to unbearable levels."
With a rumble of thunder Azula's curse on Alex is finalized, and her fate is ultimately sealed.
Having said her piece Azula walks past a dumbstruck Alex towards the barracks, a snickering Ambrosius following behind her.
"That was surprisingly lenient." says Ambrosius
"I had to be. We wouldn't want her to commit suicide and escape her punishment."
"Hmm. True. I just wonder how I'm going to top your punishment." he replies.
"Good luck. What I want to know however, is how did you know that she was going to be there." says Azula.
"What do you mean?" asks Ambrosius.
"Don't play me for a fool. I know you well enough to notice when you're planning something, that look was on your face on our way to Temple Hill. I also notice you use your powers from your mother to make her blind with anger and bring her feelings of hatred to the surface. If it weren't for that there's no way that she would have spoken with such disrespect for the gods."
Ambrosius sighs "I honestly can't keep much from you after all."
"The truth is that I memorized her schedule."
"By the way, do you know why she hates anything related to Neptune so much?" asks Azula.
"As far as I can gather, one of her ancestors died during the earthquake caused by Shen Lun's earthquake in 1906. Apparently her ancestor had a child with Nemesis that swore vengeance on the children of Neptune." answers Ambrosius.
Azula stops walking and looks at him with an intrigued expression on her face.
"How did you even find that out?" she asks.
"When I use my abilities on others I don't just see whom or what they hold negative emotions towards, I also see why." replies Ambrosius.

The next day the entire Legion assembles at the Coliseum to witness Alex's battle against Ambrosius.
The Coliseum is a five story tall building that gleams in the sun next to the Circus Maximus, the horse racing arena.
As the members of the legion gather in the Coliseum, most of them, members of the third through fifth cohort, are surprised that it took this long for her to do something that resulted in a battle. While the members of the legion know that the praetor did something that resulted in her facing the son of Neptune in combat, none of them know how truly serious the situation is, which is why they are shocked when Lupa herself teleports into the arena between the two combatants.
"Legionnaires, you are gathered here to witness the trial of one of your praetors. For her transgressions against the gods, it has been decreed that she shall face their champion in combat. Should praetor Alex win, she shall be absolved of her crimes and receive no punishment. However, should she suffer defeat her fate lies in the hands of Ambrosius Son of Neptune."
Lupa's words immediately cause an uproar. The legionnaires can't believe that she would commit an act so egregious the gods would lay her fate in the hands of the one legionnaire who has a reason to make her suffer fates worse than death.
Before the crowd can become too loud, Lupa growls, quitting them.
"Combatants, you may begin." she says as she teleports out of the arena and into the upper stands designated for VIPs.
Alex looks at Ambrosius and can't help but frown. While she wears the standard legionnaire armor, with the exception of long pants and combat boots instead of a tunic and sandals, he's wearing black and ocean blue full body armor made from what seems to be an aquatic creature's scales.The armor consists of a tight and sleeveless blue upper body with black accents which outline his muscles, and on his arms are vambraces with fins over black sleeves that start from his biceps and end at his knuckles.The lower body of the armor consists of black armor padded pants that have two blue straps on his thighs, and greaves over his black footwear that stops just below the knee. Paired with his trident in his right hand, it's easy to tell that he's a prince of the sea.
Putting his choice of attire out of her mind, Alex rushes her opponent, sword and shield at the ready. Before she can get close enough for her sword to be effective, she is forced to block an incoming stab with her shield. Unfortunately her shield doesn't hold, and the trident spears through it and into her arm holding it before being withdrawn. With a pained cry, Alex unstraps the shield and discards it. Before she can return her focus to the battle her feet are swept out from under her by the trident, and a foot is slammed into her chest causing her to once again cry out in pain. 
Looking up into the son of Neptune's contempt filled eyes, Alex can't help but feel like an insignificant ant.
"Truly, you are a disappointment. To reach the position of praetor and not know the basic rules of combat. What fool are you to ignore your opponent to discard your shield? While it may not have helped much in a head on confrontation with my spear, it could have easily been used to deflect it. I cannot believe that I have sullied my trident against a worthless fool such as you."
As Ambrosius speaks, his words resound throughout the arena, prompting many of the legionnaires who have never seen him act like this flinch. His demeanor has changed from what most of them have come to know.
Throughout his year as a legionnaire, many of them have seen different facets of his personality. When they are on duty he is the model soldier, from his stance to the way he responds to the superior officers, it is always how a soldier should act. When they are in battle, whether it be a spar or a war game, Ambrosius is always calm and collected, never letting the outcome affect his judgement. They have also seen him when they are off duty, then he is a nice person to hang out with and talk about comics and other pieces of fictional media.
This demeanor however, only Lucas, Kyle and few other legionnaires have ever seen it, and they secretly promised each other to make sure that they never incur his wrath enough for it to come out. They call it his ruler persona, due to it reminding them of how a king, or an emperor, would act. The one time they saw it was due to a retired legionnaire insulting his father, and Ambrosius proceeded to verbally tear the man down in a ruthless fashion, somehow knowing the man's every flaw and insecurities and using them to reduce him to a pile of tears. 
"Yield mongrel." commands Ambrosius as he points his trident at her throat.
Alex however, has no intention of yielding, and attempts to use her sword to stab him. Her effort is met with a stab through the shoulder.
"Very well. If you will not yield I shall enjoy disfiguring you until you die screaming."
Hearing his words Alex's eyes widen and she immediately yields.
With a scoff Ambrosius steps off her and watches as she picks herself up from the floor.
Once she is fully standing, Ambrosius points his trident at her and dolls out her punishment with glowing sea green eyes.
"Alexandra Saxa, for your crimes against the gods I hereby curse you to never die by suicide with a weapon. Should you try to commit suicide with a weapon, or attempt to die by weapon in a suicidal manner, you shall fail. When you are on the verge of a victory in a battle that is personally important to you, your weapon shall fail you. I brand you an enemy of the sea and all creatures affiliated with it and Neptune."
With a rumble of thunder the curse takes hold.

Benjamin held on to the familiar booklet. The pages looked brand new, and there were not much traces of it being flipped open or read. This booklet was one of the copies of "The Declaration of the Freedom of Magic" that he personally inspected in the printing factory he supervised one month ago.

He could not help himself but ask, "Why would you have this?"

"As a favor, I asked a friend to investigate the matter of the outside world when the priests started to trickle into the Desert City," the wheelchair-bound man said as he shook his head, "He brought this back as a result."

Benjamin nodded, quite surprised by the news. This book must have been well-received among the mages for it to make its way to the hands of the secluded mages in the Eastern Desert!

"This proves that there is an audience for my thoughts," replied Benjamin as he threw the booklet back to the man, "Not all mages are like you, willing to stay put in this abandoned desert and only cower in fear when the church is right outside our door."

"You could hurl as much verbal abuse at me as you want, but how dare you to include the fabrication drawings for two magical instruments within the book," snarled the man, his fists curling and uncurling, "Do you know what will happen if the church finds this book?"

"What else?" Benjamin shrugged. "Hunt every mage that they ever laid eyes on? Isn’t that what they’ve been doing all along?" 

He could not comprehend the man’s fear. The aim of the church was eternal. Even if the mages stopped rebelling, they would never stop their massacre towards them. Since magic is a natural born talent for mages, there would always be people who would have their powers awakened in the next generation, no matter how hard the church tries to annihilate the mages of this generation. Even if no spells were left on the surface of this world, there would still be people who could instinctively summon sparks of fire and water droplets in the future. Till then, they would also stand up and fight for their rights against this oppressive system. 

All Benjamin was doing was just executing the things that all mages’ instincts would drive them to do. 

"At least, there would be those who would survive," the man murmured slowly with his eyes closed, "You may think that it is unhonorable to live this way, but at least it would be better to be alive than dead."

"Why are you being such a pessimist?" Benjamin was genuinely curious. "Why do you seem so confident that our movement will fail? Is there really no way for us to join forces, and get the church out of Ferelden’s doors completely?"

"Impossible." He shook his head. 

"On what basis do you make your judgment upon?" Benjamin spread his hands in question. 

"That’s because I’ve attempted it before!" The wheelchair-bound man finally had an outburst after he took a deep breath. He tried to suppress his quaking emotions as he forced out his words. "Initially, when I learned the art of making magical instruments without the permission of the church and decided to betray them, I did just as much as you did. I contacted every single trustworthy mage, spread anti-church propaganda among the people, sabotaged the church from the inside…. Do you really think I have not fought before? I tried everything, but look where I ended up today."

As he spoke, he took another book from the racks. It was quite thin, and he threw it towards Benjamin. 

Benjamin caught it with a frown, then read it. On the book was etched - The Holy Bible. 

He was stunned. With a questioning heart, he flipped open this ‘Holy Bible’, and was surprised to find that it was identical to the first magical book he obtained back in the Kingdom of Helius.

"When this book has lost its value to you, please gift it to those who need it. There is a need for the truth to be preserved." He instinctively recited the first sentence written on the flyleaf. 

The wheelchair-bound man laughed at himself, "Don’t read it. I don’t even know what emotions overtook me at that time for me to write something like that."

"You wrote this book?" Benjamin lifted his chin, unconvinced. 

"Who else would it be?" The man turned his face to the side, his voice filled with self-contempt. "Those folks in the Silence Academy have long lost the fight within them as time passed. I was the only one who did such idiotic things like this, with no fear of the dangers before me."

"This is not idiotic," Benjamin argued as he closed the book, "There was nothing more meaningful than this. At places like the Kingdom of Helius, it’s this book of yours that allowed magic and the truth to be passed on to the next generation."

"How many then died horrifically under the chase of the church?" The man’s question was laced with ice. 

"Then, at least they died with their eyes open."

The man shook his head. "You’re unbelievable."

Just as Benjamin wanted to retaliate, a voice suddenly spoke from behind him. 

"Stop being so hardheaded. Maybe…. Maybe this young man is right."

Benjamin spun around in shock. The door behind him was opened wide, but he had no idea when that happened. Men, women, old, and young; all of the mages he had never met before walked in and crowded by the door. Within just moments, it reached a scale that looked as if they were preparing to take a group photo.

Benjamin’s heart was inches away from leaping out of his throat. Are these…. Are these the mages who have lived in seclusion in the barren desert? 

A brief count revealed that there were approximately 30 mages standing before him. All of a sudden, they raised their hands, and on their palms were black booklets that looked incredibly familiar. A blue, triangular symbol was etched on the cover of the book, and below it was a precise and strong title - The Declaration of the Freedom of Magic.

At that moment, all of the mages held The Declaration of the Freedom of Magic tightly in their hands, while they gazed at the wheelchair-bound man in silence. The scene looked like a black-and-white picture immortalized within the history books, emanating an air of solemn and respect. 

Benjamin froze, and so did the man. 

"All of you…. All of you read the book?"

The leading mage nodded, "Yeah. Although you said not spread this to the others, Ian stumbled upon the book when he was out. Soon, this book managed to spread around in the desert. There was no way you could’ve stopped this."

The man could only heave a long-suffering sigh on his wheelchair. 

"Ian, that man. He was always the one who brought problems back home despite his claims that he never left here," he shook his head.

Instead, the leading mage glanced at the book in his hand. "I don’t think he brought a problem home this time though. Besides, this book is much finer than the one you made all those years ago. The layout is reasonable too. Look, they even included in-page illustrations!"

The man held his forehead in his palm, speechless.

Meanwhile, Benjamin stared at these mages who seemed to have appeared out of thin air. His eyes were wide as saucers, lit with surprise and delight.

"You…."

The mages looked at Benjamin and nodded collectively. 

"All of us here have read the book you wrote. It was beautifully written," said the leading mage, "although I initially picked up the book specifically for the Law of Meditation, I stayed for your words. The descriptions of your experiences in the Kingdom of Helius shook us to the core."

Benjamin took a deep breath. He was lost for words, lost in the overwhelming flattery. 

When he was writing this book, he was very worried that it would never be spread, or that the mages would only be interested with the information the book provided but proceeded to ignore the anti-church ideology within. That was why he included the massacre in the Fulner’s Coliseum - in hopes of raising their alertness towards the predicament they were in now. 

Looking back, his efforts did not go to waste. He was suddenly moved.     

Spells, the Law of Meditation, prescriptions…. These things attracted the mages to read the book, but because the mages could relate to the stories that were written, that led them to understand the meaning behind this seemingly boastful title. 

"Also, there’s this sentence. I loved this sentence, I even carved it into the wall of my house." Another mage hugged the book like a child with his beloved comics. He recited solemnly as he flipped and stopped at a page. "F*ck the missionaries, let’s let the church and their bullsh*t God go to h*ll!" 

Benjamin burst out into laughter. That sentence was added under the sincere demand of the old blacksmith. At first, Benjamin felt that it was too rude and voted against it. But in hindsight, that sentence was quite…. Effective, huh? 




Kubei was just an ordinary pencil and button pusher working a day job, hating his boss and making horrible speeches when one day he fell asleep after pushing an all-nighter. When he woke up, he was bound to a chair, facing three creepy robed women and in a body way too young and way too weak to be his own. When the crowd saw Xia Ping'an walk out, the coliseum suddenly burst into a wave of booing. The booing showed that most people here did not look highly at Xia Ping'an.

Xia Ping'an merely walked over to the battle cage silently. He came up to the divine altar crystal ball and used the exceptionally sharp end of the Black Cobra steel whip that resembled a tail to prick his finger. He dropped two drops of his blood on the divine altar crystal ball.

If Xia Ping'an had already coalesced a summoner's Secret Mind Altar right now, the divine altar crystal ball would react. However, he was still one divine being boundary bead away from doing so. Hence, when his blood dripped onto the divine altar crystal ball, it still radiated with blue light, proving that he was not a summoner.

"Whip Punisher will enter the battle cage. The battle between a whip and a machete is about to unfold. We notice that he is only using a whip and has not taken up a shield. This will put him at a huge disadvantage in the upcoming battle. Is this overconfidence in his steel whip or arrogance from lack of combat experience? We shall know soon enough."

The emcee's provocative voice reverberated in the coliseum. Xia Ping'an had already walked into the battle cage, and the entrance behind him had already been closed.

"Ladies and gentlemen, there are still three minutes left. Everyone, please place your bets quickly. This will be a duel full of suspense."

The clock in the coliseum began to count down for 180 seconds.

"Kid, this is not a place for a person like you with a handsome face suitable for the catwalk. In just a moment, I will tear your entire body to shreds," Bear Butcher threatened as he stood across Xia Ping'an in the battle cage. His breathing was hoarse and he stared at Xia Ping'an with a bloodthirsty gaze.

Xia Ping'an did not look at the scumbag. He merely lowered his head and looked at the Black Cobra in his hands with an emotional gaze. With one hand, he gently stroked the diamond pattern on the steel whip.

The Black Cobra was very heavy, much heavier than it appeared to be. The handle of the Black Cobra was especially so. It was exactly like a cobra with its hood flared open before it struck. The sections of metallic joints were more than 20 centimeters wide. Further down, the steel whip gradually tapered off.

The metallic joints of the entire steel whip were forged from platinum and tungsten steel. Platinum was even denser than gold. When applied in the joints, it would allow the steel whip, which did not appear large, to produce the greatest amount of kinetic energy as it was swung around.

As for the tip of the steel whip, it was like the tail of a cobra. There was a razor-sharp metallic cone like a bullet head. The metallic cone was forged from an aluminum-titanium alloy. It was both light and tough.

From the super heavy platinum and tungsten steel whip body to the aluminum-titanium alloy tail, there was a huge change in the density of the materials and its weight. No one could follow the trajectory of the steel whip. In that instant, the entire coliseum seemed to witness a bullet being shot out in the battle cage. There was a loud snap. The snap rattled the eardrums of the spectators, eclipsing the blaring horn in the coliseum that announced the start of the match.

Bear Butcher, who was still charging towards Xia Ping'an, was still 5 meters away from him. His head split open. Brain fluid and fresh blood splattered all over the battle cage. His bear-like figure, carried by his charging momentum, took two more steps before suddenly kneeling onto the ground. He was kneeling towards Xia Ping'an. The machete and shield in his hands dropped to the ground. The figure, with its head split apart, knelt quietly for two seconds before slumping onto the floor.

The entire coliseum fell into a deadly silence.

Xia Ping'an retracted his steel whip and looked down at the tip of the Black Cobra. The tip was not stained by blood at all and looked good as new. It was to be expected. Just now, the head of Bear Butcher had split open before his insides could even stain the tip of the Black Cobra.

The initially roaring coliseum fell silent for more than 10 seconds. On the gigantic displays of the coliseum, the footage of Xia Ping'an killing Bear Butcher with a lash of his whip was being played. The footage was recorded by the high-speed cameras above the battle cage.

The high-speed cameras above the battle cage could capture even the trajectories of bullets and cannonballs. It could naturally capture the various scenes during a brawl between humans.

On the gigantic displays, Xia Ping'an's whip lashed out. The Black Cobra in his hand drew a series of S-shaped curves as it glided through the air and approached Bear Butcher. The attack trajectory of the steel whip was not a straight line nor was it an ordinary curve. Instead, it was a series of complicated, ever-shifting S-shaped curves. The attack trajectory directly slipped between the shield and machete in Bear Butcher's hands.

The tip of the Black Cobra steel whip was like a bullet. As it approached Bear Butcher, it suddenly accelerated and shot into Bear Butcher's head between his eyes. Then, its huge amount of kinetic energy completely split his head apart.

With a lash of his whip, Xia Ping'an had killed Bear Butcher in less than 0.5 seconds.

The emcee started to speak with an excited voice. His voice was about to crack as he said, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is...this is the whiplash effect. After analyzing the footage captured by the high-speed cameras above the battle cage, the tip of Whip Punisher's whip already exceeded Mach 2.

"Many people here might not know what the whiplash effect is. Allow me to provide a simple explanation. Just as the whip was lashing out, its total kinetic energy was unchanged. However, as it continued to move, its kinetic energy would be transferred from the handle to the tip of the whip. The whip tapers off into a pointy tip. Given that its total kinetic energy remains unchanged and there is less material the closer it is to the tip, the speed it moves will gradually increase. It can even break through the sound barrier. This is the whiplash effect.

"Only a true whip expert can utilize the whiplash effect during combat, causing the whip to become the only cold weapon capable of breaking the sound barrier and killing in one blow."

"This is the shortest, most thrilling competition I have ever seen," the emcee added.

As the emcee gave his explanation, the entire coliseum was suddenly in an uproar.

Xia Ping'an, who was wearing the crimson executioner hood, had already kept away the Black Cobra and was walking silently out of the battle cage.

For him, he had already completed his mission.
