Just your average ex-lukewarm Christian hoping to bring people closer to God and improve our relationships with Him by sharing my opinions and some notes on the Bible.  Non-believers are welcome to find God and what his purpose is in their lives. I'll try my best to convince you that God is real and He loves you and would love a relationship with you regardless of  what you believed.

Dear Jesus, 

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away, behold all things are new. 

My first impulse when I woke up this morning was to speak to you, dear Jesus. 

With a grateful heart I worshiped you, thanking you for a new start. 

You know, Jesus, you are changing me so fast that I myself am amazed. 

Normally, I’d sleep in till when my mom comes to wake me to get ready for school. Yeah, I’m mommy’s little girl even at the age of fifteen going on sixteen. Being an only child avails me the chance to be indolent and carefree. 

But… not anymore… not when you’ve come into my life. You woke me up by 3:00am this morning to enjoy sweet communion with you. 

Please, please, please… *does the adorable puppy-dog eyes* help me to be consistent. You know, that’s one of my weaknesses -- giving up easily on something once it begins to bore me. 

Please, don’t let this exciting life that I’ve found in you fade like a fleeting wisp of smoke. 

It seems as if the Bible has come alive to me now. 

I formerly used to dread reading the Bible. Even though reading is one of my favorite pass times, it used to seem I have been given sleeping pills whenever I would attempt reading the Bible *sighs while remembering how pathetic I was then* . 

The Bible that had begin to gather dust and was safely tucked deep in the deepest abysmal den of my wardrobe (I even considered carrying it to church a burden since we have projectors that would project the bible readings at my church), is now the greatest book I have ever and will ever read. 

I memorized the scripture on top of this page and even went ahead to make some changes. The old Radiance Abraham is gone. The new girl, merged with you is come. 

When I got back from a hectic day at Charios High School (Whew! The pressure of being in the first trimester of SSS3 is really taking it’s toll on me but I know I’ll survive cos you’ll always be by my side), I took time to clear out my room. 

I figured my spacious room would be needing a make-over to make it look like it belongs to a Jesus-freak (I don’t mind that slang that formerly used to make me cringe anymore). 

So… I replaced all the former posters on my wall (the ones with pics of the rock-stars I used to love as well as some irrelevant girly stuff) with stickers of colourful bible verses, the cross and a dove that I got from the same store I got this journal from (I’m thinking I’ll be visiting that store more often from now on; they’ve got great christian stuff I’ll be needing later). 

I also got a special notebook and a glitter-pen to write your words to me and my meditations on the scripture in during our special time of fellowship. 

I created something like a den on the balcony of my room next to my swing where I relocated my table and chair. That balcony overlooks our garden so I think it’d be a perfect spot for fellowship. If you don’t mind I’d like to refer to it as our holy-coven. 

Also, I took my time to also reform my mobile phone and PC. I deleted all the worldly music on both devices and replaced them with christian songs that I downloaded from the internet; some great gospel songs like Overcomers by Mandisa, Changed by Geoffrey Golden, Your Spirit by Tasha Cobbs and Kierra, I surrender and Oceans by Hillsong and many more. I am so falling in love and grooving to these otherworldly songs I would have denied existed a few weeks ago. 

I made a pic of the ark of covenant my phone’s wallpaper and that of a kneeling worshiper the wallpaper of my Dell PC. 

I deactivated all my social media accounts except WeChat (just so people can communicate with me) to diminish distractions. I don’t want any idol coming between us. It was difficult but I’m satisfied to see you proud of me. 

I also deleted some e-books that were not godly off my mobile devices; sensual and erotic romance novels were my downfall, but not anymore. 

I reviewed my wardrobe, taking out some clothes that I used to fancy to blend in with my peers but I know you’d frown at. Maybe sometime during the weekend, I could give out the relatively decent ones to some less privileged teen girls at church. 

School was more beautiful today cos you were with me. *whispers* Actually, it was more bearable considering the amount of lessons we had; it’s like our teachers want to squeeze the juice out of us so we can all excel in our external examinations. 

Luckily for me, we had a free period today. Instead of joining the other girls to gossip and flirt with the boys, Kathlyn and I worked some calculus problems together. I could almost hear the silent snickering of the clique of girls that named themselves ‘Dazzling Diamonds’ when they saw me getting intimate with ‘the weirdo’ (I must say there’s nothing dazzling about them while they were doing that). 

During the lunch-break, while Kathlyn and I were hanging out, talking about God stuff, she gave me a gift of a book titled ‘The Pursuit of God’ written by one A W Tozer. I wanted to protest but she convinced me saying it would help stir my spiritual fire and make me hungrier for you. 

She was right. I’ve read the first chapter and my hunger for you has already soured to the heights of the heaven. It brought tears to my eyes and dragged me to my knees. I can’t wait to read it to the end. I’m sure I won’t remain the same. 

I think saying thank you to Kathlyn won’t suffice. I plan on doing something sweet for her on her birthday which luckily falls on a public holiday. 

Yeah… before it skips my mind, I’ve got big news. Trisha came to invite me to her birthday bash coming up this weekend. I was like OMG… Am I dreaming or what? Trisha is like the most popular girl in Charios High. I’m even surprised she knows plain, old me. 

She is perfectly cool, gorgeous, rich, multi-talented, smart… you name it. She was elected as Charois queen for two years in a row and her boyfriend, Maxwell Newrit, is the captain of the school’s basketball team; any natural girl would drool for prospects as enticing as these, any girl would die to be close to her. 

Too bad, I’m no natural girl anymore. I’m supernatural. I declined the invitation as nicely as I could manage. The look of shock on her face when I said no was so unlike her that I wanted to burst out in hysterical laughter but I suppressed it to a small giggle in my head. It was a look that said ‘What the heck! No one has ever refused me before.’ 

I thought she would persist or at least ask me why I refused but she didn’t. Instead, she sauntered past me like she didn’t give a damn whether I came or not and ran to meet her boyfriend, Max, who was waiting ahead for her, probably thinking I’m crazy or something. 

I just hope I won’t be severely stigmatized or worse still bullied for daring to refuse the school queen. How can I go to a place where you won’t approve of?; a place with free-ranging demons of alcoholism, indecent dressing, worldly DJ music and the likes. I’m rather glad you gave me the courage I needed to make the right choice that pleases you, even though my flesh was screaming ‘SAY YES!’ so loud in my head. Is that a mild ache I'm feeling at the back of mu head? The flesh is one stubborn dude. 

I think that’s all to document tonight. I’ve got to get to bed now; I’m all stressed from doing my chemistry assignment after my chores tonight. 

PS: Thanks for stopping the involuntary action of drooling in my sleep. I noticed this morning and I shouldn’t forget to thank you for something you did that I didn’t ask for. Even though to some people it may seem insignificant, It’s a big deal thing for me. 

I’m going to sleep now. Sing me a lullaby. *smirks* I bet your voice would be heavenly.

Pricey Cash walked all the way into a grocery store bring food to the camp where all the little children were escaping their parents to.
  
Josh Johnny, who is a biological girl with the XX chromosome,  follows him because she really likes to go shopping, he's wearing a long sparkly dress with beautiful shoes she's not wearing a hijab because even though she is Arabian afghanistani, she's a Christian and Christians don't wear hijabs because they're not Muslims.
  
Instead, because a person in the Bible said to, she has her hair along whereas her father has his hair short.
  
She's dressed and modestly with her chest covered and her dress is very long, her belly isn't showing. She dresses very feminine and has a diamond necklace.
  
The diamond necklace was a gift from her rich Aunt who was in Saudi Arabia. Her aunt not make the money on her own but instead married a Palestinian from Israel who was rich and bankin', His name was John and he was treated so badly in Israel for being Palestinian then he grew up got rich then everyone suddenly became nice to him.
  
Pricey found $600 dollars on the ground and picked it up and showed Josh Johnny. Josh Johnny was so happy and YELLED "Y'all, God has blessed us with $600!!!!"

At the camp, there was a deranged child who is literally cutting people's arms so that he could do a blood brother bond with them.

Pricey goes and builds a box out of wood and glue, then he builds a top for the box out of wood and glue and he puts the money inside the wooden box and puts the top on it and writes on the block box and it's top with a marker that is blue and what he wrote on it is "The money box!"
    
Josh Johnny, who is a pure female from Afghanistan who is Christian, WALKED to Jake saying "Hey, boo!" Jake pulled out his sharp, silver knife and cut her arm and then cut his hand and then touched her wound with his wound.
  
This utterly shocked, confused, freaked out, and baffled, flabbergasted, and just emotionally doned Josh Johnny.
  
Josh Johnny was very confused and did not like what just happened, Josh Johnny knew it was psychotic so she asked "What the fluff did you just do?!" Then she slapped him yelling "You cut me!"
   
Josh Johnny asked "What did you just do?!" Josh saw a GIRL named Emory and her half-sister Emerald.

Emerald was the nurse of the camp and Emory the "Pastor Figure." She wasn't a pastor but she was more like a minister.

Emerald and Emory are both 18-years-old and chose to stay here when they were 17 which was a day ago and today is their birthday.
   
They did it to care for the kids.

If I say [movie - 2D/3D animation] it means this should be done in either 2D or 3D animation while projected from a projector onto a closed curtain or whatever can show it. If the Script says [play] that means it can be done in a play with no harm done, [movie - 2D/3D animation] is also for situations where it would make the play too long because it would require breaks to set up scenes, so the scene may be longer in the video than it should be considering you don't need it anymore. It's to keep actors from going through acting out the serious issues the characters go through.

Put an acrylic plastic or glass block in front of the stage make it so big it separates the actors from the audience so the audience doesn't hurt them if they don't like them. I trust any transparent plastic but Acrylic is very strong.

I did this because I cared about the children actors and adults, too.

If 2D, it's for fun scenes and like a Proud Family Disney thing because the story will contain elements of comedy, if 3D, I'd suggest a Detroit: Become Human game look.

Lin Hua was walking on the hot sidewalks in Beijing. The air was humid and his back was sweating. Ah, that's what he gets for wearing all that black. It's a good color! He reached his gate and walked inside his house with bags of food. "I'm home," he called in English. "What did you get? Go sit by the fan, you're burning up," his mom responded in Mandarin. 

She took the bags of food from him and gave them to his father before ushering him to the couch to sit in front of the fan. "Did you guys start bible study without me?" Lin Hua raised a brow. "No, no, no," his father shook his head with a telltale smile. "Then why are your bibles open? You really started without me," Lin Hua accused. 

Lin Hua was almost twenty two years old. His mother worked at a retail store simply for something to do and his father worked as a C.E.O. at a company that Lin Hua found interesting but had no interest in actually taking over. His father understood that he wasn't going to succeed him in the business and Lin Hua decided to go to college to earn a degree in Biochemistry. 

He already had a job waiting for him when he finished. He came home for the weekend from college at Peking University like he usually did to visit his parents. He didn't have classes that day or the next so he came back early. His parents lived in America for ten years before coming back to China the minute they found out his mom was pregnant with him. 

He was raised in a rich Chinese household while being taught American and Chinese customs. He knew English as well as Mandarin and had been to the States quite a few times. Being in America for ten years, you pick some things up. Lin Hua's parents converted to Christianity during their fourth year in America. Once they'd came back to China, Lin Hua was raised as a Christian too and he developed a strong relationship with God. 

He read his bible daily, had multiple devotionals on his phone, and went to church with his family. He genuinely enjoyed doing all these things and was always eager to bring someone closer to God and show them who He was. There was one thing about Lin Hua that made him believe that God would never fully accept him. Lin Hua was gay. It was a secret nobody knew besides him. 

Well, he hadn't told anyone anyway. Except for that priest at that catholic church in the confessional. The man told him that he was confused. That he wasn't gay. When Lin Hua went to school the next day and let a girl kiss him, he knew for sure. He was definitely, one hundred percent gay. He was even more sure when he was first kissed by a guy. 

It was simple to him. He liked biceps and Adam's apples and pectorals and.. anyway he was completely sure he was gay. What bothered him was the fact that being a homosexual was a sin. He didn't want to be a disappointment to God but there was really no way he could fall in love with a girl. He really didn't believe he had any choice but to stay closeted. 

He wasn't going to turn into a monk or whatever but he might as well be one considering that it was probably impossible for him to find another gay guy in China to be with who was okay with being secretive about their relationship. His mom always pressured him to get married and bring home some grandchildren but he couldn't tell her he was gay and that the only grandchildren she'd ever get from him would be adopted. 

Telling his parents was out of the question. He would be disowned. He knew it. He would be judged by all of his family, close and distant, and would bring them shame. And it wasn't like he lived in a very open-minded country after all. China was not a fan of the LGBTQ community. They had censorship laws over television shows. 

If there were two guys being romantic with each other then it got censored. If they hold hands, or hug, or confess their feelings, or have onscreen sex, it was getting censored. Taiwan was basically the only country in Asia that legalized gay marriage. Lin Hua was closeted and nobody knew but him and God. Lin Hua sat down on the couch and opened his container of potsticker soup while pulling up the Bible app on his phone. "What scripture are we on?"



Her eyes fluttered open slightly before closing, a small smile on her face. 

Groaning softly, she yawned noisily, stretching as well. The bed was soft, softer than the one she'd been waking up to for the past seventeen years. 

Rose opened her eyes a little and then they widened. This wasn't her room. 

Shocked she sat up. 

"Where am I?" She voiced panicking. 

It was still way early in the morning but she was a morning person, but that still didn't explain the reason she was there. 

Glancing by the lampstand she saw her effects on top of the drawer. 

She grabbed her purse and got off the bed. 

She looked down at her clothes, she was no longer wearing the ruined dress, she was wearing a sweatshirt and pant. 

Then everything from last night came rushing back. 

From her going to the party to when she was made fun of, to when Michael showed up and became her shoulder to cry on. 

I'm a Christian now. 

She thought smiling, remembering all that had happened last night. 

She'd confessed him right there on the steps where they'd sat. 

At the foot of the bed, Rose saw the gown she'd worn the night before clean and neatly folded. 

She hadn't wanted to relive what took place at the party but it was difficult seeing the blatant evidence on her bed. 

Rose thought back to the ice eyed stranger that was now her friend. 

The corner of her lips curled up in a small smile. The weight was off her chest and she was glad. 

She thought it would have killed her if she hadn't said anything. 

She knew where she was now but she needed to leave. 

'And go where?' She thought. 

Marcus would still be home. She gulped. Mum wouldn't be back for an hour. 

The door to the bathroom was right in front of her but she kept thinking, 

last night was a night she'd never forget. 

What made it worse was the fact that she was betrayed by the girl she'd once called her friend, again. The pain cut through her deeper than a knife. 

How could she ever show her face again, to her and the rest of school? 

Suddenly the image of the boy that rescued her flashed across her mind. 

Michael. 

Rose smiled. She'd only just met him and he'd done so much for her. She was in their guestroom, she could tell from the interior. 

It only had the basics nothing more. The room looked cozy and expensive. His father had good taste. 

'Just like dad.' 

The unwanted thought added. She shook her head to clear it of its depressing thoughts. 

"Not now." 

She needed to find Michael and thank him for his kindness and generosity and ask if she could stay for a little while longer. 

Rose carefully got off the bed. She opened the dark mahogany door and slid out the door. 

She was hearing muffled voices down the hallway so she quietly closed the door and followed the voice. 

She walked quietly down the stairs and as she walked closer she sensed something odd. It sounded like two people were arguing. 

"We've been here, for what, only two days and you already have a girl with you upstairs." The older version of Michael chided. 

The forty-five year old man was still remarkably fit for his age. They were by the kitchen island. 

"Dad, she needed help and I could only think of bringing her here." 

"And you know I'm not that guy anymore," Michael added, his voice hardening slightly at the end, hating what his father was implying. 

His father raised an eyebrow and it took everything in him not to scoff at him. 

"Fine, think whatever you want." Michael sighed, knowing the conversation was going nowhere. 

He turned around to leave. And he opened the kitchen door to do just that when he heard a squeak. His eyes widened. 

"Rose?" 

"Are you okay?" He asked surprised. 

Rose was speechless. She only just stared frozen at his confused blue eyes. 

Had she just heard right? 

"Rose? You're making the perfect description of a drowning fish right now. " Michael joked, raising an eyebrow. 

How could she tell him that she'd been eavesdropping on their conversation? 

"Um yeah, I'm fine. I was just on my way to find you." She eeped. 

His eyebrow didn't drop. 

"What? I'm telling the truth." Rose defended. A sweat dropped from her brow. 

"Right," Michael said flatly. 

"So you weren't eavesdropping?" He deadpanned. Now, his hands were folded across his chest. 

Rose could see the smile that was threatening to break out from the corner of his lips at how nervous she was. 

"Okay, okay. You can stop with the whole detective look. It's making me nervous." Rose confessed. 

"It's really up to you Rose." He teased some more. 

Rose sighed heavily. 

"Fine, I eavesdropped, but only a little." She closed her eyes, waiting for him to get angry, but it never came. 

"Okay. Let's get you cleaned up shall we." Michael straightened himself up from his leaning position on the wall and started walking back towards the guest room, up the stairs. 

Rose stared at him as he walked up the stairway, perplexed. 

"Wait, you're not mad?" She asked surprised. 

"Why would I be. You can't help what you hear sometimes." He said. 

"Only what you do with it matters though." He finished. 

Michael stopped and looked at her from where she was at the foot of the stairs. 

There was silence as if he was expecting her to say something. 

"I won't judge you, I exactly don't have the right to," Rose said quietly, suddenly feeling shy for the first time she'd met him. 

When she looked up at him, he looked uncomfortable, like what she'd heard hadn't been what he'd wanted her to. 

"I don't like talking about it, my past," Michael said looking away. 

Rose's eyes widened. She'd never heard him talk like that before. He sounded embarrassed, ashamed even. 

Michael closed his eyes sighing. 

"It's complicated." He looked away and she took it as a sign to drop it. 

He took her back to the guest room. The silence hovered unnervingly over them. 

Michael opened the door and allowed her to walk in. He didn't go in with her. 

"The towels and whatever you need is over there." Rose turned around. 

"Thank you." She said. There was silence and everything seemed to have made her forget why she had gone looking for him in the first place. 

"I wanted to thank you, for everything." She said gratefully. 

"Don't mention it." He said, smiling slightly. 

"No, I mean it. No one's ever been so kind to me before." She admitted. 

He finally looked at her. 

"You're welcome." Michael smiled slightly but Rose didn't like his sullen expression. 

He was always cheering her up. Now she wanted to do the same for him. 

"You don't have to be mad about how you once were but be happy how far you've come. Even I can see your way better than what your father thinks." Rose said. 

She lowered her head timidly at what she was about to say next. 

"You found me, and saved me." It seemed to cheer him up. 

"Jesus did, but thank you. It means a lot." Michael said smiling. 

"Seems like you slept alright." He said as he ran a hand down the corner of his mouth to his chin, indicating the drool on hers. Rose gasped. 

"Shut up!" She blushed embarrassed, hitting him on the shoulder. 

He laughed. 

"Woah, I made your ears blush too?" 

"Get out, out!" He chuckled as she threw him out. 

She smiled, glad he was himself again. 

She closed the door behind him then walked towards the window and gazed out the sunny day. It was beautiful. She could see the side of her house clearly from there and... 

Rose immediately paled. 

Marcus. 

She gasped when he glanced her way from the front lawn. She quickly ducked. 

Had he seen her? 

She chanced a look. 

Rose felt faint when he smirked in her direction, his eyebrows raised mischievously. 

She felt sick. 

She'd placed her hand on the sill backing up when her hand met with something hard. 

It was a book. A Bible. She glanced back out, he wasn't there. She released a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. 

Curious, she opened the Bible. On the first page was a name: 

Elizabeth White. 

Who was she? 

The pages seemed very well used, but still good enough to read. She scanned the pages and was surprised to see how many verses were underlined. She stopped on a random page then picked an underlined verse, it was a familiar one. 

John 3:16. 

'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. ' 

She opened to another one, 

Exodus 23:20. 

'I am going to send an angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. ' 

She traced the verse with her hand and pondered. 

"An angel." She whispered. 

"It's been nearly half an hour and you're still not ready?" Michael asked perplexed by the door. 

The door was only slightly cracked open. 

Her eyes widened. Had it really been that long? 

He'd been out knocking a while but she hadn't responded. 

Michael saw her slightly shaken up form and his brow furrowed in concern. 

"Rose what's wrong?" He left the door and came in. 

He stood in front of her. He looked out the window and saw Marcus out her front door. He frowned not noticing the book in her hand. He looked at her, lightly grabbing her shoulders. 

"Are you okay?" He asked. 

She nodded sharply. 

"Rose talk to me." 

"I-I'm fine." She closed the Bible and it was only then that he noticed. 

He paused for a few seconds, his eyes trained on the Bible. She saw something pass through his eyes. 

She'd experienced it many times before—pain. 

But why? Why would he be hurt seeing the Bible? 

Rose was shocked at his sudden change in demeanor. He picked up the book. 

"Who is Elizabeth White?" She asked. 

Looking at the book, he answered. 

"She was my mom." He whispered. 

Was... 

"I-I didn't know. I'm sorry Mike." She apologized. 

"It's alright, let's go." He carefully placed the Bible back on the window sill and turned to leave. 

He said it was alright but then why didn't she believe him? 

The ache at the loss of another parent hit her like a train. 

He was about leaving the room when she quickly walked across the room and held his arm. He turned to her. 

"It's okay Rose. I'm fine, really." He said and he smiled at her for emphasis. And the pain she'd once saw gave way to something different, something she'd never felt. 

Peace. 

"She was a Christian. A good one. That's all that matters." 

"Even in death, there is hope." He smiled at her and she felt warm. 

Somehow he could make her feel better. About herself, about the situation. 

Michael sighed heavily, taking her by the hand. 

"Go take a shower or we're going to be late." She checked the time and her jaw fell to the ground. What?! 

Only an hour till the first period. 

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" She screamed. 

He raised an eyebrow. 

Like, really? 

"Fine. I don't have anything to change into though." She said deflated. 

"Already got that covered." 

Michael brought out a neatly folded piece of clothing he'd just gotten in the store for her. 

Her jaw broke free. 

In her mind, she wondered.

It wouldn't take her anything to change at home but he wouldn't have that because of Marcus and had gone all the way to the store for her. 

She couldn't express how she felt. It was too good to be true. She didn't deserve someone like him. But God brought him to her.

"Rose, whoa, thought I lost you there for a second. Your clothes." He commented after waving his hand a few times in front of her face. 

"Oh, thanks." She collected them. 

"Thank you," She meant it, she really meant it. 

Rose looked up at him so that he looked down at her. 

"For everything." 

He might never know how thankful she was. 

He smiled softly. 

"What are friends for?" Her heart clenched gratefully. He might never know how much that statement meant to her.

"No one knows when the darkness will come, but all I know is it will. And very soon we all will see it. The question is, can we find the light in it all?"

In the last days....the end is here.

Her eyes fluttered open slightly before closing, a small smile on her face. 

Groaning softly, she yawned noisily, stretching as well. The bed was soft, softer than the one she'd been waking up to for the past seventeen years. 

Rose opened her eyes a little and then they widened. This wasn't her room.

Shocked she sat up. 

"Where am I?" She voiced panicking.

It was still way early in the morning but she was a morning person, but that still didn't explain the reason she was there.

Glancing by the lampstand she saw her effects on top of the drawer.

She grabbed her purse and got off the bed.

She looked down at her clothes, she was no longer wearing the ruined dress, she was wearing a sweatshirt and pant.

Then everything from last night came rushing back.

From her going to the party to when she was made fun of, to when Michael showed up and became her shoulder to cry on.

I'm a Christian now.

She thought smiling, remembering all that had happened last night.

She'd confessed him right there on the steps where they'd sat.

At the foot of the bed, Rose saw the gown she'd worn the night before clean and neatly folded.

She hadn't wanted to relive what took place at the party but it was difficult seeing the blatant evidence on her bed. 

Rose thought back to the ice eyed stranger that was now her friend.

The corner of her lips curled up in a small smile. The weight was off her chest and she was glad. 

She thought it would have killed her if she hadn't said anything. 

She knew where she was now but she needed to leave. 

'And go where?' She thought. 

Marcus would still be home. She gulped. Mum wouldn't be back for an hour. 

The door to the bathroom was right in front of her but she kept thinking,

last night was a night she'd never forget.

What made it worse was the fact that she was betrayed by the girl she'd once called her friend, again. The pain cut through her deeper than a knife. 

How could she ever show her face again, to her and the rest of school?

Suddenly the image of the boy that rescued her flashed across her mind. 

Michael. 

Rose smiled. She'd only just met him and he'd done so much for her. She was in their guestroom, she could tell from the interior. 

It only had the basics nothing more. The room looked cozy and expensive. His father had good taste. 

'Just like dad.' 

The unwanted thought added. She shook her head to clear it of its depressing thoughts.

"Not now." 

She needed to find Michael and thank him for his kindness and generosity and ask if she could stay for a little while longer.

Rose carefully got off the bed. She opened the dark mahogany door and slid out the door. 

She was hearing muffled voices down the hallway so she quietly closed the door and followed the voice. 

She walked quietly down the stairs and as she walked closer she sensed something odd. It sounded like two people were arguing. 

"We've been here, for what, only two days and you already have a girl with you upstairs." The older version of Michael chided. 

The forty-five year old man was still remarkably fit for his age. They were by the kitchen island. 

"Dad, she needed help and I could only think of bringing her here."

"And you know I'm not that guy anymore," Michael added, his voice hardening slightly at the end, hating what his father was implying. 

His father raised an eyebrow and it took everything in him not to scoff at him. 

"Fine, think whatever you want." Michael sighed, knowing the conversation was going nowhere. 

He turned around to leave. And he opened the kitchen door to do just that when he heard a squeak. His eyes widened. 

"Rose?"

"Are you okay?" He asked surprised.

Rose was speechless. She only just stared frozen at his confused blue eyes. 

Had she just heard right?

"Rose? You're making the perfect description of a drowning fish right now. " Michael joked, raising an eyebrow.

How could she tell him that she'd been eavesdropping on their conversation?

"Um yeah, I'm fine. I was just on my way to find you." She eeped.

His eyebrow didn't drop. 

"What? I'm telling the truth." Rose defended. A sweat dropped from her brow. 

"Right," Michael said flatly.

"So you weren't eavesdropping?" He deadpanned. Now, his hands were folded across his chest. 

Rose could see the smile that was threatening to break out from the corner of his lips at how nervous she was. 

"Okay, okay. You can stop with the whole detective look. It's making me nervous." Rose confessed.

"It's really up to you Rose." He teased some more.

Rose sighed heavily. 

"Fine, I eavesdropped, but only a little." She closed her eyes, waiting for him to get angry, but it never came.

"Okay. Let's get you cleaned up shall we." Michael straightened himself up from his leaning position on the wall and started walking back towards the guest room, up the stairs. 

Rose stared at him as he walked up the stairway, perplexed. 

"Wait, you're not mad?" She asked surprised.

"Why would I be. You can't help what you hear sometimes." He said.

"Only what you do with it matters though." He finished.

Michael stopped and looked at her from where she was at the foot of the stairs. 

There was silence as if he was expecting her to say something.

"I won't judge you, I exactly don't have the right to," Rose said quietly, suddenly feeling shy for the first time she'd met him.

When she looked up at him, he looked uncomfortable, like what she'd heard hadn't been what he'd wanted her to.

"I don't like talking about it, my past," Michael said looking away.

Rose's eyes widened. She'd never heard him talk like that before. He sounded embarrassed, ashamed even. 

Michael closed his eyes sighing. 

"It's complicated." He looked away and she took it as a sign to drop it. 

He took her back to the guest room. The silence hovered unnervingly over them. 

Michael opened the door and allowed her to walk in. He didn't go in with her. 

"The towels and whatever you need is over there." Rose turned around. 

"Thank you." She said. There was silence and everything seemed to have made her forget why she had gone looking for him in the first place.

"I wanted to thank you, for everything." She said gratefully.

"Don't mention it." He said, smiling slightly.

"No, I mean it. No one's ever been so kind to me before." She admitted. 

He finally looked at her. 

"You're welcome." Michael smiled slightly but Rose didn't like his sullen expression. 

He was always cheering her up. Now she wanted to do the same for him. 

"You don't have to be mad about how you once were but be happy how far you've come. Even I can see your way better than what your father thinks." Rose said. 

She lowered her head timidly at what she was about to say next. 

"You found me, and saved me." It seemed to cheer him up. 

"Jesus did, but thank you. It means a lot." Michael said smiling.

"Seems like you slept alright." He said as he ran a hand down the corner of his mouth to his chin, indicating the drool on hers. Rose gasped.

"Shut up!" She blushed embarrassed, hitting him on the shoulder.

He laughed. 

"Woah, I made your ears blush too?"

"Get out, out!" He chuckled as she threw him out. 

She smiled, glad he was himself again.

She closed the door behind him then walked towards the window and gazed out the sunny day. It was beautiful. She could see the side of her house clearly from there and...

Rose immediately paled. 

Marcus.

She gasped when he glanced her way from the front lawn. She quickly ducked.

Had he seen her? 

She chanced a look.

Rose felt faint when he smirked in her direction, his eyebrows raised mischievously. 

She felt sick. 

She'd placed her hand on the sill backing up when her hand met with something hard. 

It was a book. A Bible. She glanced back out, he wasn't there. She released a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. 

Curious, she opened the Bible. On the first page was a name:

Elizabeth White. 

Who was she? 

The pages seemed very well used, but still good enough to read. She scanned the pages and was surprised to see how many verses were underlined. She stopped on a random page then picked an underlined verse, it was a familiar one. 

John 3:16. 

'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. '

She opened to another one,

Exodus 23:20.

'I am going to send an angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. '

She traced the verse with her hand and pondered. 

"An angel." She whispered.

"It's been nearly half an hour and you're still not ready?" Michael asked perplexed by the door. 

The door was only slightly cracked open. 

Her eyes widened. Had it really been that long? 

He'd been out knocking a while but she hadn't responded. 

Michael saw her slightly shaken up form and his brow furrowed in concern. 

"Rose what's wrong?" He left the door and came in.

He stood in front of her. He looked out the window and saw Marcus out her front door. He frowned not noticing the book in her hand. He looked at her, lightly grabbing her shoulders. 

"Are you okay?" He asked. 

She nodded sharply. 

"Rose talk to me."

"I-I'm fine." She closed the Bible and it was only then that he noticed.

He paused for a few seconds, his eyes trained on the Bible. She saw something pass through his eyes.

She'd experienced it many times before—pain.

But why? Why would he be hurt seeing the Bible?

Rose was shocked at his sudden change in demeanor. He picked up the book. 

"Who is Elizabeth White?" She asked.

Looking at the book, he answered. 

"She was my mom." He whispered.

Was... 

"I-I didn't know. I'm sorry Mike." She apologized.

"It's alright, let's go." He carefully placed the Bible back on the window sill and turned to leave. 

He said it was alright but then why didn't she believe him?

The ache at the loss of another parent hit her like a train. 

He was about leaving the room when she quickly walked across the room and held his arm. He turned to her.

"It's okay Rose. I'm fine, really." He said and he smiled at her for emphasis. And the pain she'd once saw gave way to something different, something she'd never felt. 

Peace.

"She was a Christian. A good one. That's all that matters."

"Even in death, there is hope." He smiled at her and she felt warm. 

Somehow he could make her feel better. About herself, about the situation. 

Michael sighed heavily, taking her by the hand.

"Go take a shower or we're going to be late." She checked the time and her jaw fell to the ground. What?! 

Only an hour till the first period. 

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" She screamed.

He raised an eyebrow.

Like, really? 

"Fine. I don't have anything to change into though." She said deflated.

"Already got that covered."

Michael brought out a neatly folded piece of clothing he'd just gotten in the store for her. 

Her jaw broke free.

In her mind, she wondered.
