It amazed her there were still no comments as she studied each face for a trace of a smirk. Nothing.
"Since introducing Buddhism in Thailand, it became noticeable that these beliefs also spread to other areas of Asia during the Mahayana period. King Kanitsaka the Great had the intention of spreading Buddha's teachings farther than just his kingdoms. He sent groups of monks throughout Central Asia to help spread the word. Once Mahayana's Buddhism expanded into Thailand, it became widely accepted by the Thai people. Mahayana's Buddhism spread from the southern regions to the far north via the central areas of the country. This created a large multicultural society, with different dialects that still, today, inhabit the Thai language. The spread of the beliefs in Buddhism had officially begun in Thailand."
The boys were genuinely interested and impressed.
"Finally, the period of Theravada from Sri Lanka also established itself in the Thai culture. The Buddhism that was introduced during this period in time is still a part of the current Thai culture. It has gone through some challenges but has got back on its feet each time. We now know the Theravada Buddhism in Thailand as Lankavamsa. This is because, 700 years ago, King Ramkhamhaeng had asked senior monks from Sri Lanka to come to teach their views of Buddhism, which became the birth of Lankavamsa in Thailand. Siddhartha Gautama, or 'Buddha' was born approximately 583 BCE, in a place now called Nepal. His name 'Buddha' translates to 'the enlightened one'. He was born into a family with a King as a dad and a queen for a mother. His parents were the leaders of a large clan called the Shaky-a. A few days after being born, a holy man prophesied that Prince Siddhartha would either be a great military conqueror or a great spiritual leader. When his dad caught wind of this, he decided his son would not become a spiritual leader. King Suddhodana raised his son in luxury and shielded him from learning about religion and human suffering. By the time Siddhartha turned 29, he was completely sheltered, having very little experience in the outside world."
Skylab had expected a break while the boys interrupted her. She needed a mouth full of water before carrying on. She also needed a quick look at her notes before rattling on about his journey.

Kev and Dam clapped.

Buddhism is one of the oldest religions practised in Thailand. It is not just a religion but also a lifestyle characterised by many movements, splitting, and expanding across Asia."
Cheers from the small audience made Skylab feel proud of herself.
"Well done, Skylab, you are an outstanding teacher. But what about Christianity?" asked Kev.
"How long have you boys got?" joked Skylab.
Then Dam asked, "Why does Thailand use a Hindu God as its national emblem?"
He was surprised when Skylab answered once again as 'the' teacher.
"First off, let's discover who this Hindu God is. The Hindu God used by Thailand as a national emblem is Garuda, also known as 'Krut' in Thailand. In Hindu mythology, Garuda was the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Garuda is half-man, and half-bird. He has the body of a man but his head, his wings and talons are that of an eagle. The reason Thailand as a Buddhist nation adopted Garuda, a Hindu God, as a national emblem is not illogical. Whatever, you may think, dearest cousin. There is a long history of Hinduism in Thailand, and there are very close ties between Buddhism and Hinduism. Thailand's cultural roots are based on a mix of Buddhism, Hinduism and would you believe, Animism. Yes, worship of animals. Therefore, so many Hindu deities such as Brahma and Ganesh are commonplace here, and they find an Animist Spirit House outside just about every household. Do we not?"
His girlfriend's knowledge impressed Kev. He was speechless for a few moments.
"How come you didn't learn all this at school, Dam?" grinned Kev.
"I must have been sick that day," laughed Dam.
Skylab tutted before carrying on for another ten minutes.
"Fantastic lecture cousin, the British Embassy guys will love it."
"Wait, I haven't finished yet. They will need to know about the Muslim faith."
Kev groaned, "Enough."
Skylab continued for another ten minutes about Thai Muslims
"We don't see many here in Hua Hin. They are all in the south, causing trouble," stated Kev.
"Wrong Kev, contrary to popular belief, of Thailand's 7.5 million Muslims, only 1.4 million live in the nation's southernmost violence-wracked provinces. However, in the south Muslims represent over 70% of the population and observe cultural and political identities standing apart from other Muslims spread throughout the rest of the nation. They do not see themselves as 'Thais' first, but still as Malay. These three southernmost provinces, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat, and their unique circumstances, result from a regional power struggle to stretch across centuries and includes more recently, attempts to use this region as a buffer between Thailand and British Malaya, now modern-day, independent Malaysia."
She nodded before Kev could interrupt. She spoke about the problems in the deep south and how the then Prime Minister Thaksin had dealt with it. Or failed to deal with it.
Skylab looked at the boys. "What do you think?"
"Long," said Dam.
"Maybe cut a few minutes," chuckled Kev.
The office phone warbled. Skylab reached for a glass of water before answering it.
"What? No," yelled Skylab. "Oh, my God."
She collapsed in her office chair.
"Listen to this you two."
She signalled them closer.

The words of the Shakyamuni Buddha spread far. Almost every Buddhist cultivator and believer heard it in their hearts.
Every Buddhist cultivator and mortal believer started to smile. They closed their palms together and said, "Welcome, Cosmic Marble Buddha! The Vaidūryanirbhāsā World is upon us!"
In the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World in the black hole, on top of the Heavenly Stupa, a white light appeared and descended onto it.
When the light first appeared, Lin Feng saw a shadow flitting past on the top of the Heavenly Stupa.
That was the golden form of one of the Ten Great Disciples. While it disappeared almost instantly, Lin Feng recognized it. Because of his powerful spells and attacks, he was viewed as the strongest Buddhist cultivator. That was the golden form of Maudgalyayana.
Earlier, Lin Feng guessed that three golden forms were required to complete the ceremony.
Looking at it now, the Heavenly Stupa was formed from Maudgalyayana’s golden form, combined with the spiritual energy he absorbed from the sea of purple light and the ruins of the Great Thunderclap Temple.
Liang Pan sat in the Imperial Palace of Emperor Tai and communicated to Lin Feng and Yan Nanlai telepathically. "We should ally to fight him. The coming of the Buddha will not benefit us."

My sources tell me that it was the Buddha who initiated him into the cultivation world and helped him shed his mortal body."

Liang Pan said expressionlessly, "Since the Buddha, the Buddhists had tried to pass their cultivation to the demons. Their plans are grand, like their ambition. However, it is perilous path indeed. They thought that they are saving them from Hell, but they had never thought that their actions would drag humans into Hell with them."
Yan Nanlai stared at the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World and said nothing.
Many years ago, the Great Void Sect had this suspicion. During the War of Buddha Annihilation, the Great Void Sect was able to obtain sources that confirmed their suspicions. Today, the words of Liang Pan only served as double confirmation.
Liang Pan looked at Lin Feng and said, "Your sect’s Karmic Theory Debate with the Buddhists shook the very foundations of Buddhism. Hence, they could not progress much after the Age of Vipralopa. Many Buddhist cultivators felt at loss and hence, doubts bit at their hearts. Coupled with the incense of the ordinary mortals, they are able to bring about the third coming of the Buddha."
"Perhaps your disciple has enhanced the workings of Karma. However, as you have both good and bad deeds on you, why leave it up to Karma instead of ending it now?"
Lin Feng replied plainly, "Let’s not talk about our ties with Buddhism. Daoist Liang, you should care about yourself first. The Great Zhou Empire led the destruction of Buddhism and started their Age of Vipralopa. Not only did you massacre many Buddhist cultivators and believes, you even took away their sariras. The renovation of your Imperial Palace of Emperor Tai was done with a large number of sariras, right?"
"Furthermore, the next biggest culprit in the destruction of Buddhism is the Hades Emperor."

He looked around him and finally sighed, "This is the most powerful spell of the Buddha. It formed over a long time and hence, even though he isn’t here himself, it is incredibly powerful."
"The ceremony is complete. Not only did he use the power of the sea of purple light and the black hole, he caused the entire Greater World to tremble by temporarily distorting the flow of space and time in void space."
"Attacking the stupa at this time is like fighting against the Greater World."
Yan Nanlai said slowly, "Initially, the Greater World will not react. However, the more we attack, the more the Greater World will react to us."
Liang Pan stood in the Imperial Palace of Emperor Tai with a heavy face. As he directed the Imperial Palace to attack, he could feel that what Yan Nanlai said was true.
"If the Supreme Heavenly Mirror were still in the Divine Lands, it could manipulate the Greater World and stop this change," said Yan Nanlai as he shook his head. The Supreme Heavenly Mirror was formed directly from the Greater World and hence, it could manipulate it.
On the other hand, if the Supreme Heavenly Mirror were still in the Divine Lands, then the Golden Roc Grand would not dare to activate the black hole. The ceremony would lack its final step and remain incomplete.
Yan Nanlai stared at the Heavenly Stupa inside the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World and said, "The coming of the Buddha cannot be stopped."
Liang Pan exhaled and said, "There’s one last chance!"
"The moment the Buddha descends on the Heavenly Stupa, the ceremony will be complete. It will no longer be able to protect itself."
"The Buddha will surely not be as powerful as he was all those years ago. He needs time."
Liang Pan’s face turned grimmer and darker. "We cannot give him this chance!"
As Lin Feng, Yan Nanlai and Liang Pan thought, a dot of golden light landed on the Heavenly Stupa and occupied its right-most seat.
The moment it appeared, bright and pure light started to shine. Compared to the Heavenly Stupa and the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World, it was even brighter.
In the light, one could see another smaller light flashing like the stars.
The light faded, and a Buddha appeared, seated, on the right-most seat. His entire body was like liu-li (Translator’s Note: Liu-li is a form of crystal in Ancient China) and he had 48000 arms. Each of his palms was open and in each of them, a single star shone.
The Buddha appeared calm and emotionless. He appeared to be slightly smiling.
"Good, good. After experiencing countless rebirths, I shall once again come and relieve Mankind of his suffering. The Six Paths of Reincarnation have fallen, and the Sea of Bitterness is limitless. What s a shame."
"Good! Good!"
That was the third incarnation of the Buddha, the Cosmic Marble Buddha, who descended onto the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World!
With the coming of the Buddha, in the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World, ten light shadows appeared around the Heavenly Stupa. Together, they gave off a sleek light.
While they were still shadows and had yet to take actual form, Lin Feng could recognize one of their shapes. It looked like a dagger but it was not one. It looked like a gavel but it was not one too. It was a Buddhist Thunder Staff, one of the Ten Defenders of Buddhism.
When Lin Feng first came to this world, the first Buddhist cultivator he met wielded a weapon fashioned after the Buddhist Thunder Staff.
The Ten Defenders of Buddhism were all powerful weapons. When all ten were combined, they were known as the ‘Ten Corners of the World’. They were the most powerful magic treasures of the Great Thunderclap Temple, ranking right behind the Destiny level Mount Meru.
Now, in the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World, the ten light shadows that surrounded the Heavenly Stupa were evidently the Ten Defenders of Buddhism. Together, they protected the coming of the Buddha.
Out of the black hole, every single Buddhist cultivator and devotee could feel it. Together, they chanted, "Good, good, the Buddha is compassionate!"
"Hail the Amitabha Buddha! Hail the Shakyamuni Buddha! Hail the Cosmic Marble Buddha!"
To the many Buddhist cultivators and devotees, this was the most excited they had been in years. Their hearts and minds were clear.
To Liang Pan, it was the best time to strike!
As this Buddha descended, brimming with a brilliant radiance, everyone in the black hole could feel that the connection between the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World, black hole and the sea of purple light and the Greater World was fading.
The arrival of the Buddha signified the end of the ceremony.
Liang Pan, who had been waiting for this opportunity, directed his Imperial Palace straight into the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World.
Yan Nanlai stared at the Cosmic Marble Buddha and said quietly, "Teaching Buddhism to the demons is too dangerous. Leader of Buddhism, I respect your ambition, but I cannot agree with you. Sorry for the offense."
With that, Yan Nanlai too charged toward the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World.
Lin Feng did not move. The Golden Roc Grand Sage escaped and left his gate to the Starry Sea behind. The Heavenly Charms Grand Sage too escaped the moment the Cosmic Marble Buddha came. She no longer cared for the spiritual energy here.
He did not chase the Heavenly Charms Grand Sage but instead, looked at the Vaidūryanirbhāsā World which was being attacked by Liang Pan and Yan Nanlai. Lin Feng helped neither side. Instead, he appeared slightly dazed.
"Something is not right!" Lin Feng thought. "According to Buddhist teachings, his future form should be the Medicine Buddha, not the Cosmic Marble Buddha."
"However, this is the right Buddhist spell. It is Emperor Ru’s true return, and definitely not hijacked by someone else. Only with the future incarnation of Emperor Ru could he trigger this reaction from all Buddhist cultivators and devotees."
Among non-Buddhist cultivators today, Lin Feng’s understanding of Buddhism was ranked as one the best. His knowledge of Buddhist canons and scriptures could rival Liang Pan’s and Yan Nanlai’s.

The fact that the Earth Prison team was wiped out in the first match sent shudders to the West Little Buddhism Realm contestant's hearts. From the merciless killing of Nether Prison experts, they felt enormous pressure. Compared with Earth Prison, the opponents they had to face were much stronger. Earth Prison only encountered the second-best team, but they had to face the best team.
All of a sudden, an uproar erupted, waking Fa Wu from his trance. He looked up into the distance. There, five figures were coming into the arena slowly. The terrible pressure that emanated from them seemed to turn into a dark cloud, pressing down on his heart and filling it with great pressure.

The cheers of the audience were for the Nether Prison contestants, their deafening noise making the monks tremble all over. As they came forward like a pack of savage monsters, even the ground seemed to shake.
Fa Wu took a deep breath and exhaled. Glancing at the junior brothers at his side, he nodded. The next moment, five monks in red robes sat cross-legged down.
"What are these monks doing?"
The audience was lost in thought as they looked at the monks in puzzlement.
Lu Yu, Zhang Qiubai, and the others stared at the five monks calmly. They were not in a hurry to attack. As geniuses from Nether Prison's best team, they had their own pride. They didn't think it was a big deal to let these monks form an array.
Fa Wu and his junior brothers glanced placidly at the Nether Prison contestants in the distance. Then, they put their palms together and closed their eyes. Their bodies began to emit faint golden light, which swirled in the air and illuminated the whole arena. At the same time, they kept chanting, their voices deafening.
"Amitabha… Amitabha…"
The audience was intrigued, and they looked on intently with bated breaths.
With a rumble, a burst of air suddenly broke out and spread in all directions, while dazzling Buddha's light soared into the sky. Soon, a vague golden shadow began to condense rapidly over the monks.
It was a golden Buddha. It sat cross-legged with its palms put together, its eyes merciful. The aura emanating from it seemed to suppress the skies.
"Kind of interesting." Zhang Qiubai walked slowly forward. Squinting at the Buddha over the monks, a bright smile gradually spread across his face. "So this is the famous Buddha Array of the West Little Buddhism Realm? Well, I'm going to try its power today…" As soon he said that, his aura gradually climbed.
The golden Buddha grew larger and larger and finally turned into a giant golden Buddha that glowed blindingly and blotted out the sky. Just then, Fa Wu flicked open his eyes, which shone goldenly as well. 
"Dear benefactor… Please enlighten us," the monk said with a somewhat detached manner.
"Very good…" Zhang Qiubai twitched his mouth as a sword will flashed through his eyes. The next moment, the bronze sword behind him jumped out of its scabbard, tearing the air and making a sharp sound. He leaped onto the blade, flew up into the sky, and hovered in midair.
Rumble! 
A horrible sword will began to condense in midair and soon turned into a huge sword shadow that blocked out the sky.
"Let's see which is stronger, the Buddhist Kingdom in a Palm condensed by your Buddha Array, or the Sword Demon Clan's sword essence!" Zhang Qiubai sneered. As his voice rang out, the huge sword fell with a surging sword will.
While chanting the Buddha's name, Fa Wu pushed a palm forward. At the move, the huge golden Buddha over him also moved. It raised its huge palm and threw it toward Zhang Qiubai in midair. "It feels so great! A pity that… you are too weak, bald donkey." Zhang Qiubai laughed in midair, his eyes gleaming. The next moment, his aura soared again, and then he made a straight slash with his sword.
The sword ripped through the air, and everyone heard the sound of something breaking.
At the stroke of the sword, the houses in the Buddhist Kingdom were crumbling, and soon, the whole golden Buddha started to become blurry. Before long, it collapsed and disappeared. 
Fa Wu's eyes went wide. His body trembled violently, and he coughed up some blood. Four of his junior brothers coughed blood at the same time, and they all were knocked flying backward. Fa Wu even rolled on the ground several times.
"We have been defeated…" Fa Wu got up and sighed. He looked a little bedraggled. 
The five of them had been defeated by one person, who had proved himself an expert from Nether Prison's best team.
With his hands clasped behind him, Zhang Qiubai hovered in midair on his sword. Sword will surged around him, glowing brilliantly.
Fa Wu wiped away the blood from the corner of his mouth, put his palms together, bowed his head, and said, "The West Little Buddhism Realm admits defeat."
As soon as he said that, the Nine-revolution Little Saint, who was in charge of maintaining order, came in front of him in a flash to prevent others from attacking him again.
Zhang Qiubai, however, was too lazy to attack. His figure flickered, and then he was back to his team.
Nether Prison's best team had defeated the West Little Buddhism Realm with only a single person. 
Soon, the two teams withdrew from the arena.

In the distance, the experts from the second-best team slowly came out of the other entrance.
The eyes of the Fire Demon, Lu Yang, and the others were full of fighting spirit. The Fire Demon felt that he represented the honor of Nether Prison, so when he stepped into the arena, he spread his arms and nodded to the audience. 
The audience cheered the Fire Demon without stint, and this made the latter's vanity explode. A sneer came to his lips, and he felt a growing desire to kill Bu Fang and the others. He planned to wipe out all the Immortal Cooking Realm rubbish by the same means, just like what he did to the Earth Prison team! 
Meanwhile, a figure shrouded in black mist stood in the audience. The mist gradually dispersed, revealing black bandages that bound the man's whole body. His eyes were fixed on Bu Fang in the arena.
"Found you… The holder of the Senseless Lotus."

The two teams faced off at a distance.
The look in Lu Yang's eyes was somewhat serious. "This team is different from the Earth Prison team because it has an amazing chef. The others are nothing to worry about, but we have to pay more attention to that chef who had slapped Lu Ban in the face."
