A year later.....

It's late December, I took 2 weeks off to visit Tiere at Jakarta, staying at her apartment. Tiere told me she loves her job and she made a lot of money. I'm so happy that I let her chase her dreams. And I, I finally got to work at my dream game company, was accepted right after a month dating Tiere. She's like a lucky charm to me.

The sun shining through the open curtain, I woke up before the alarm start beeping. I turned it off once it rang cause it's Sunday, I leaned forward looking at the peaceful looks of Tiere while she's sleeping, drooling on her pillow, greasy hair, and her messy waterproof makeup, did she forget to wash her face or? I use my thumb to wipe her eye –shadow but I didn't make it, for me she's always beautiful, my lips lifted upward I feel warm in my heart as it beats faster cause I realize how much I love her. Somehow it's so calming and my heart is melting. I leaned my head forward again, kiss her lips once and she pouted. "I want to sleeeppppp" she said, tossing her body to the other side. I laid back on the bed, hug her from behind. 

"Good morning, my dear" I whispered. I heard her sniffing smiles. Then my phone ruined my Sunday. 

drrrttt drrttt drrttt

I sit up to catch my phone, my mom's picture popped up. DAMN! SHE IS VIDEO CALLING ME RIGHT NOW? I LIED TO HER! But it's okay, I am 24 years old. BUT NO, JUST PRETEND I'M IN THE HOTEL.

I click the green button soon as my mom's face close up-ly appeared. I was kind of shock, my heart start pumping fast, throbbing behind my ribs, it's going to crack soon.

"Hii.. Mom" my jaw turns rigid. 

"Hey, so, you're at Jakarta?" my mom asked, still smiling.  

I nod my head, "Yes"

"Huh.. it's so hard to ask you to come to Miami, but when it is about Tiere, you arrived soon as she asked" 

I told my mom about Tiere and my mom was so happy about it. I don't know she used to ship me with Tiere since grade –school. I don't understand my mom sometimes. 

"Mom..." I rolled my eyes. 

"So where's she?"

"She is beside me..ups" I covered my mouth, DAMN! MY MOM PURPOSELY SHIFT MY CONCENTRATION.

Her smile disappeared, her face turned scary. THIS IS THE END OF MY LIFE!

"HAA!! YOU!!! Bastard! You slept with TIERE?? YOU DARE LIED TO ME?? YOU WANNA GET MARRIED SOON, HUH?" 

"Momm.. mom... listen" like usually....

Then, how about Caroline and the flowers?

Back to that time.

Once I've done my confessions towards Tiere, I walked back to my car light –heartedly. I feel happy and relieved at the same time.

It's Caroline. Oh, I really forgot about her! I was kinda shock.

"Ryan.. where the hell are you?"

"Caroline.. I'm so sorry to say this. But, I think I'd like to stay with Tiere cause I love her" I said as I scratched my forehead, I know I sound like a total jerk but this is for the best.

"What???" she moaned and hung up the phone, before I even explain. 

Then the florist got to call me. 

"Hello, Giany's florist here. Am I talking with Mr.Valerian?"
 "Hello, miss florist. The bouquet and the chocolate box, sorry.. my girlfriend just left the town, so I'm giving that package for you. Thankyou!"

It turned her speechless, maybe I sound pathetic but not too pathetic that makes her confused. Ah, not a big deal.

That's how I deal with my puppy lover and the first roses I bought.

Ryan is from a very rich family too, but he is simple, so nobody has ever realized it. 

Tiere : a nerd girl who tends to be so active, and talkative. She has a dark past during her school time, students like to judge her, but since graduated from high school she did some improvements of her both appearance and her image that makes her prettier in the present time. But nah, in the past time, she is kind of retarded. Her family isn't that rich, but her mom's new husband and her dad's new wife are billionaires. But Tiere won't take a cent from them. She is tough. 

Caroline : she is one of the queen bees gang in their school. But she is the most normal among the others, I mean.. she is kinda study a lot rather than hanging out and shopping, even though she does a lot of shopping too. She is from a very rich family, that's why people like to cling into her. Nowadays people.

Calvin : Tiere's ex –boyfriend. Son of a famous cosmetic company. Calvin and Tiere were not in the same school. They met in the pub where Tiere worked at. That time, Calvin has a crush on her, and get to know her better. Tiere doesn't change because of Calvin, so don't get her wrong. She changed because she feel kinda ashamed of her past life during her school time.

Nayla was dress in a beautiful red and white traditional wedding dress. It was one of those ancient style dress where the dress had beads, sequins, ribbon, lace – all of those beautiful additions to the wedding gown. 

These elements look absolutely stunning when it was used to create an intricate, detailed back of the gown. 

This intricate back instantly makes the beautiful traditional wedding dress more romantic and glamorous.

The dress cost about more than million as the dress was decorated with red roses which are the rare roses found in the land of ice as it represents love and resilience, with red ruby and white diamonds found in the moon. 

 A truly vintage detail to included in Nayla's bridal look is a pair of gloves, it added a touch of old-style Hollywood glamour with lace gloves, as it takes a modern approach with detailed gloves that look elegant and sophisticated. 

To conclude her look was a beautiful bridal style hijab [1] it made her beautiful face exquisite. 

As a whole Nayla looked ethereal, an everlasting fairy as her hourglass body fitted the dress perfectly. 

The wedding dress is a priceless treasure of the Ab Al Qadir family but they gave it to their eldest daughter-in-law to show respect and pride they have for their eldest son.

A gentle but heartwarming voice called Nayla out of her dazed state of mind.

Nayla's sparkling blue eyes changed to amber as she looked at her mother, with a small smile on her face 

"I know mother, I know I will be happy. You don't worry" with that said she tried to reassure her mother as well as herself, like any bride she was nervous yet little excited; she was nervous because she hasn't seen him for so long but excited as she would be living rest of her life with him.

 'ah, how nerve-wracking yet so exciting' Nayla thought to herself.

My pain, my dreadful past, my happiness and other things that I'll leave for you guys to find out is in this book. Not many people like to talk about their past and things they went through/the things they have to put up with but as for me I want you all to know my background.

 I don't only want you guys to just see the best part of my life/my best moments I want you guys to see me at
my worst as well.

Many people don't remember where they're coming from but as for me, my memories at my weak points, all the pain and all the negativity I have to put up with, will forever live inside of me not because of covetousness but because my pain made me into who I am today. I truly hope this book will not only grab your attention but to let you know the writer writing the book more ( Which is me of course) and also teach you lessons that could help you with the challenges you're facing today or tomorrow.


I don't know how long this book will be but I'm sure it will be worth reading and worth your time. An insight about the book 'Refuge' with Sajla Anees

"Refuge is a compelling story of love, faith, hope and perseverance in the war-torn Syria."

Poetic and audacious for someone as young as her, Sajla Anees swept thousands of feet by having created the book as a form of hope and sheer magic.

Ms. Anees is a Sri Lankan based Attorney-at-Law and a Published Author. Her writing experience was fueled by poems, prose and people around her dating back to her childhood from being a student at Methodist College to a student at the Sri Lanka Law College. Initially she started writing a few paragraphs in her college days and she takes the footsteps of her favourite authors by bringing this story to life. She feels relieved because she wanted to publish this book before death overtakes her.

"Alhamdulillah because I wanted to be an author ever since I was a child and I am happy I could pursue It." quotes Sajla.

As Sajla passes her life with 'rain, coffee and books', she had a very supportive family and helpful friends who were excited in her venture. In the process she learnt that people who love her are supportive and selfless; some of them helped her in ways that she never thought they would.

Alhamdulillah! Sajla has got all good comments and a few negative ones which she disregards in a beautiful way with the help of God. "When you do something for the sake of God then you shouldn't worry much about what people have to say" says Anees.

We encounter self doubts and hardships, Alhamdulillah Sajla has her close friends to talk with and help her. One advice she would like to share is that 'not everyone will like what you write, if it's meant to reach their hearts, it will.' Making Du'a has always been her "go-to" coping mechanism.

Sajla is reluctant to collaborate with other authors because she feels she wouldn't be able to give her best. A new book wouldn't be coming soon because Sajla hasn't found any inspiring topic yet.

Anees likes working according to a routine and in her monthly plan she had set goals on word limits for each day. A writing quirk of hers is that she thought about her characters even when she wasn't writing.

I met Sister Sajla at Sakeenah Institute, my workplace where she had come to deliver a spiritual lecture and I love her level of faith in God, she inspires people to follow the religion. When the world sends Prayers, Aids and Support to Syria, Sister Sajla supports them by publishing this fiction to bring awareness of the hardships undergone in the war-torn country and it is a matter that has to be spoken of. Ms.Sajla Anees wishes to express the central message of finding hope no matter how trying the situation is.

Finally, she conveys that "never allow negativity affect your passion. Keep going with sincere intentions!"

"Is that so?" Seungwoo's face suddenly turned pale, "Then why are the lights still flickering?"
My face turned blank as I tried to process the whole thing. The remote control was already in Seungwoo's hands. Even though he wasn't doing anything with it, the lights keep on turning on and off.
What on earth is happening here?
The lights stopped flickering, I stared at Seungwoo intently, and he was still there facing the door. All I can see is his back, but it seemed like he was calmer than before. I was the one who did the ghost prank, but I guess I got pranked by the ghost instead.
"Kim Seungwoo," I slowly approached him and tapped his shoulder. "Did the ghost do that?"
Fear was suddenly creeping up. He was still silent, and all I could see was the back of his head and his prominent jawline. The air conditioner suddenly went really cold, it was supposed to generate heat because of the cold season. Seungwoo slowly turned around, his dimples were now unseen, he was wearing a poker face. He simply stared at me as nothing happened.
"Hey," I tapped his shoulders again. "Answer me, please?"
He was staring at my face for a few seconds until it seemed like something behind me caught his eyes. His eyes widened as he tried to point out something behind me using his trembling left hand. His eyes described something he shouldn't have seen, and as if I was hypnotized, I turned around to look at where he was pointing out. 
 I felt scared. I scanned everything that appears in my sight but saw nothing. Everything was in the same place. I couldn't see any shadow or any soul. All I could see were the tables, the chairs, and the air conditioner. For some unknown reason, I felt really scared. Chills ran down my spine as if all of my senses awakened. Every time I hear the hissing sound of the air conditioner, I got the shivers again, this time with the little goosebumps on my arms that appear when I get that sensation.
I turned to look at him again.
"Got ya," he grinned, showing off his dimples playfully, and stuck out his tongue. "I got ya, Suji."
For some unknown reason, I had the urge to kill this handsome man who has the most beautiful dimples right in front of me.

"Did you get scared?" Seungwoo asked as he tried to tuck his seat into the desk. I am standing in front of him, near the whiteboard as we have compromised that I should present all of the chosen quotes before he recommends a place that we will visit.

"What would be that most enjoyable job in the world?" I asked as my head tilted towards the right.
"I don't know yet," He smirked, almost resembling that of a snort. "We have to go to the streets to find it out. You know, we should capture the most real emotion that we can find wherever it is."
"Okay," I started to write them on the whiteboard. "I'll take note of that."
"I mean, as a photographer and designer," He started rambling. "We should always prioritize the raw and purest emotion we can find to make the book more relatable--"
"Yes, yes," I replied abruptly.
"Are you trying to ignore me because you got scared with my prank earlier?"
"Well, partly, I guess?" I replied. "I mean, how can you joke around like that? You shouldn't have been a designer/photographer, you should have been an actor in this life. You deserve a Grammy award,"
"Thank you so much," He gave me a lopsided grin, stood up, and clapped. "I am so handsome and good at acting, I could have majored in the Theatre Arts Department,"
I crinkled my nose as a response, "Yes, yes, your majesty. Stop getting ahead of yourself now, okay?"
"Isn't it funny that your prank failed and you got pranked instead?" He teased me again, showing off that playful grin and his dimples. "Sorry, I am not scared of ghosts or anything so you failed big time.
I felt a vein might pop if we continue this conversation. Lesson learned, don't ghost prank others if you get scared of ghosts yourself. But I mean, I am not that scared of ghosts, the situation was just really scary.
"I am curious about how the door slammed when you were near me, and why were the lights flickering so much?"
"I don't know," He shrugged. "I didn't know why. I told you that there's a ghost here in the meeting room, right?"
Goodness, gracious. Why would I be scared of a ghost when I am not a normal being myself? I am a mermaid, for goodness sake, I am acquainted with sea witches, fishes, sirens, and I am sure that the world does not limit only to those beings.

"Is my fate already written according to the stars or do I create my own destiny?"

Li Suji only has one hundred days before she turns twenty-five, and that also means she only has one hundred days left to find her reincarnated prince. A scene suddenly came right through my eyes, as if it was directly right in front of me. This time, I was aware that I was not experiencing it firsthand though it still happened from my point of view. I was there, tending someone, probably a man. I was unbuttoning two buttons in his shirt because he was sweating too much. I was holding a wet towel in my hand and started to wipe his neck using it.

"It tickles, why are you wiping my body so lightly?" The man asked, it seemed like a very familiar voice but I couldn't pinpoint who. I wasn't looking at the man since I was so preoccupied with looking at his perfectly sculpted body. "You shouldn't be doing that, no-no, you should do it the hard way."

"H-huh??" The hard way?

"Yes, should I do it instead?" He sat up, unbuttoned his shirt, took my hand, and guided me to wipe his neck down to his chest, abdomen, navel until his pelvis, "You should do it like this, okay?"

As I was trying to hide the embarrassment of touching his body---I was touching the man's body with a towel, something caught my attention. Lower than his navel but the upper right side of his pelvis, I saw a mermaid's tail's fin. I scooted over, held the garter of his pants, and pulled it downwards.

Voila. It was the mermaid's tail. Perfectly the same as mine. He's the one that I am looking for. I don't doubt it. I am one hundred percent sure! He's the reincarnated prince that I am looking for, for so long.

The man grabbed my hand and made me look at his face. Sadly, I couldn't see who he was clearly. "What are you doing to a sick man's house, not to mention pulling his pants? Do you want to get yourself in trouble?"


Yes, that's right.
