As soon as Liu Xiaodan acted weirdly, they heard the sound of breaking bones. Liu Xiaodan just crushed Cheng Hei's fist in his hold, and the big man screamed in pain as well. 
At the same time, a symphony of screams echoed all over the room as if the static noise of a radio. The temperature had also dipped too low that everyone felt like they were inside a cold room instead... where the lights were dancing as they flicked on and off.
"Mother... your mother..." Liu Xiaodan repeated a bunch of words from Cheng Hei again, and the Black Boss was surprised to be face-to-face with his horizontal head. 
Cheng Hei screamed again as he tried to get away, but Liu Xiaodan grabbed onto his good arm. No matter how much Cheng Hei pulled, Liu Xiaodan wasn't even budging. Not to mention that he was already floating just to match Cheng Hei's height by then.
"Monster! You're a monster!" Cheng Hei screamed, using all his force to break away from the iron grip on the other hand. His heartbeat was racing as his mind was starting to go into a flurry. The skin holding him was cold like a body in the morgue.
"Monster..." Liu Xiaodan repeated. His grip on Cheng Hei's arm strengthened, and the man screamed once more, even louder than the symphony of voices coming from the room. 
He felt the bones in his arm were broken in one wave. His arm grew limp as his muscles were ruptured by the broken bones. What's worse... his skin wriggled as if multiple things were trying to escape from beneath his skin. It didn't take a minute before sharp wood sprouted from Cheng Hei's arm!
Like big-ass splinters, wood jutted out of his skin; Cheng Hei losing his voice while keeping his mouth open for a scream. He was horrified by what was happening, and he wished he was just having a terrible dream. His bladder had already given up, and he felt warm liquid dripped down his leg.
Rip!
Cheng Hei couldn't take it anymore as he gave his arm one last tug to escape. However, he didn't count on his arm ripping it half as he did so. He then fell to the floor, having spasms all over before fainting until he died from blood loss.
The other goons were frozen stiff when Liu Xiaodan started. When Cheng Hei fell, they all panicked. They ran to the door, but they saw a figure standing before it. His beautiful face had a smile on, and his hands were behind him and keeping the doors closed. His long-lashed purple eyes stared at them seductively and as it fluttered.
However, most of them stopped in their tracks; the newbies stopped because others did. Dong Qiu even swallowed his saliva... "T-Tang Mingming?!"
"Xiaodan, can you do Ming a favor?" Tang Mingming chuckled before blood gushed out from the holes of his head. 
"Kill!" His horrifying voice rushed out and made everyone else feel more terrorized. 
They also saw a black shadow grow from behind him and assaulted them with its invisible hands. The nearest goon didn't know when a big sharp object poked through him, but his stomach was already holed the next second. When he faced the wall, he saw the big shadow's hand through his own around the stomach.
Dong Qiu then screamed as he ran to the far end of the audio-visual room. He wanted to try the front double door, but he was met by another figure. It was a long-haired person wearing what looked like a black plastic poncho. She lifted her face and showed that she, in fact, had none. It was as if it was scraped off of her, which killed her. She then chased Dong Qiu who ran back to his people.
Brother Niu and Qin Rong weren't around and were probably manning the fort while Cheng Hei was out here. They had no idea that doing this was actually saving themselves. 
The black shadow kept on killing the small goons while Liu Xiaodan remained suspended in the air. Even the other ghosts were attacking those who ventured nearby.
The other goons tried to run past the long-haired lady. Even if they got past her, multiple lesser ghosts grabbed them from the sides and from the chairs. When they were held down, the long-haired ghost would catch them. Her hair would wrap around them and send them to cardiac arrest.
The audio-visual room was indeed a scary place to be, they said. It was where the dead would feast on the living, they said.

After a few minutes, the hysteria and screams had quieted down. 
Liu Xiaodan woke up after finding himself on the floor. He opened his eyes fully and used his hands to block out the light coming from the ceiling. When he sat up, he realized that he was still at the empty space at the back of the audio-visual room. The machine was safely at the side while the presences of the ghosts were rather weak.
When his eyes panned to the side again, he almost had a heart attack when Tang Mingming suddenly peeked from the edge of his vision. Liu Xiaodan then stared at him with a bitter grin. "Ming... I passed out. Where are they?"
"Hehe, the little fella took all of them. He said something about you being upset if he left traces of dead people around." Tang Mingming still smiled like he was not discovered just yet. "Say, why would something like that obey a living person?"
"He's my son." Li Xiaodan only smiled again before looking around. This time, he saw the shadow of a third person in the room. He looked at it and smiled as well. "You must be Jun?"
"Jun rarely talks—"
"Thank you for helping."
Tang Mingming was shocked as he heard Jun spoke. He then pouted. "Yi Junhai! You can talk long words, and you don't even talk to me?!"
Liu Xiaodan reached out. "Uhm, hey... I think it's not like that. He's... he couldn't do it because he needed to expend a lot of energy to make a sound. Don't be so mad at him."
Only one pair of eyes was darted towards Liu Xiaodan, but he felt the weight of two gazes at his face. Tang Mingming then smiled again. "Hehe, you're even defending one of us from the other. You must be a very good medium, Xiaodan." 
He then scratched a cheek. "Sorry about what happened in Cheng pig's room. I made you go through a terrible thing."
"Oh? That was you?" Liu Xiaodan only raised his brows. He then looked at the two figures with him in the audio-visual room. "You two seem to be stronger than most ghosts I've met before. Most of them barely moved like a human anymore. How long have you been stuck here?"
"Playing crossover saint, are we?" Tang Mingming only hummed with a smile. "Sadly, we can't escape. We're stuck here for eight years now, and that's all because of Cheng pig. Staying in the prison is okay for me as long as I'm with Jun."
"You don't want to be free?"
"Free?" Tang Mingming only cast his eyes down. "We used to be free, and we were judged and prosecuted. At least here, some people just leave us alone even if we fool around everywhere we want to."
Liu Xiaodan understood him not because he was unconventional himself; it was more of finding the place to be free from the eyes of society. In this place, he could freely interact with Guangru, and the worse he could get was the guards thinking that he was a loony. 
Also... he was allowed to kill. Hehe, those who ran into the knife in his hand deserved their ends.
As if that thought hurt his head, he shot a hand to his forehead. He suddenly remembered that drowning resentment he felt earlier. Cheng Hei threatened to touch Wu Qianqian, and Liu Xiaodan lost it. 
His sense of protection surged so much that he was knocked unconscious. However, he felt that he had done something awful again.
Knock, knock.
The three darted their gazes at the door of the audio-visual room. Liu Xiaodan got up and opened the door with a crack, only to see one of the guards that normally fetched him for a visit. The guard had his brows furrowed, but Liu Xiaodan could feel the wave of fear that kept on washing over the guard.
"Liu Xiaodan, it's dinner time. Stop watching and return the reels before coming to dinner. After dinner, you're not allowed to use the audio-visual room anymore. Continue in the morning." He tried to sound as stern as ever, but it was easy to see that he was scared. More when he spotted another figure inside the room.
"Ah, sure. Thank you for calling me." Liu Xiaodan left the door open before he spotted that the trolley had the five reels already. The machine was also stored for keeping as well. He smiled at Tang Mingming and Yi Junhai before leaving the place with the trolley.
As he locked the audio-visual room and rolled the trolley along the hallway, he saw Guangru hop on from the side and sat at the front edge of the trolley as if enjoying the ride. 
Today was too exhausting, and so he even yawned and rubbed his eyes as if a child that ran out of battery. If only there was no guard next to him, the father would reach out to pet him.
The guard discreetly sighed as he didn't have to stand outside the audio-visual room for a long time. However, he felt rather disturbed that they were walking on their own in such an empty hallway. For some reason, he felt his legs freeze and couldn't help but reach out to grab Liu Xiaodan's arm.
Liu Xiaodan was surprised, and he turned to the guard. He was about to ask when the guard gestured a hush sign at the other man. He then whispered with a bit of embarrassment from the fear he felt, "We should probably walk faster. I don't like coming here at night."
Wu... wu... something cried somewhere in the distance.
The guard froze some more as he even stepped back. His eyes quivered in fear as he realized they stopped at exactly another haunted spot in those hallways. 
Liu Xiaodan only looked at the adjacent hallway that the man was looking at and saw a huge double door at the end. There were also black bags near the door as if it was where the trash piled up before being taken out.
To his surprise, a bag moved and fell open. The knot loosened... and a white hand extended. A woman with long black hair crawled out, but she stopped just with her naked torso out from the big black bag. 
She lifted her face covered by hair and stared at the man and at Liu Xiaodan. The guard fell to the ground and was about to scream when the woman moved back inside the bag again.
Unknown to the guard, her voice had been echoing in Liu Xiaodan's ears. She kept on saying 'face'.
"They found someone who could help them," Guangru spoke from the edge of the trolley. He then looked at his father who returned his gaze. "Are you going to help them, Baba?"
"If I can..."

Just when Liu Xiaodan thought that his strange, mundane life was at its peak after meeting the ghost child he named Guangru, the child ended up being a gateway to the past that he had never wished to unlock... and a future he could only brace for.

Through his blood came a mystery that had soon given birth to an existence that everyone wanted to subdue yet no one would like to meet. Liu Xiaodan was destined to stand at the top of the food chain, but would he use his powers for good? Or would he rather lock himself away from the light forever? After all, his kind... was the strongest in the dark.

This is the monster that he chose to become.

In this scenario, all Ol did was to ask for the purpose of the multiple robberies and why those specific items were taken. The answer was that they intend to use those technology and scan, mimic and reproduce the artefacts.
It is uncertain what artefact that they are trying to make as that involves snatching information from the same level as the scroll itself, but Torelamri has it covered.
'If you are stupid, you think they want high energy. They look like physicists. But with some digging, they work with gravity. Micro, simulated, artificial gravity.' Torelamri brought up a block diagram of all the different components stolen during the robberies and connected them in an intricate network.
'So we have to assume that they might have an artifact that allows for at least some level of gravity manipulation.' Ol concluded, 'and that's as much information as we can gather.'
'They need the HES.' Torelamri concluded, 'it's the most crucial, but they cannot act like that, or some other smart people will figure it out also. Highly classified research.'
'Maybe that's why they send Zel instead of a raid team towards IST. That makes sense.' Rydel nodded at the explanation.
'But what can they do now when the device is broken?' Cellica followed up after Rydel, 'Rydel may or may not have had a hand on that.....ah!'
She screamed and dodged as Rydel threw a mandarin at her.
'No HES, no deal.' Torelamri said affirmatively, 'they would want it, for real.'
'So that's how we would deal with it.' Ol said, 'Rydel, is there a standard procedure for broken equipment to be fixed?'
'There must be.' Rydel brought up his email account and looked into the very first emails that were sent to him by his supervisor almost four years ago, 'depending on the manufacturer and policy, the broken or faulty instrument will be sent back to either a nearest workshop for fixing and readjustment or back to the factory for replacement.'
'As the high energy stabiliser is the best of the best, it will have to go back, possibly on the next flight out. The device is from a factory on Hyperion 4, the planet of factories and servers.'
'Cellica, can you see it?' Ol asked.
'Give me a few minutes.' Cellica got up, 'I am a little hungover, but tracking is still something I am good at.'
'What did you guys do yesterday?' Ol chuckles as Cellica got up and wobbled towards the balcony, 'Cellica is not usually the confident or outspoken.'
'Aquarian shocker, I think.' Rydel answered.
'Ah.'
'Anyway, the plan now is to follow the shipment of that equipment for as long as you can. Dolon is only a few gates away from you two so she can pick you up at the... Knightsky junction? A standard route would be to go through that junction and turn towards the Hyperion system.' Ol confirms the next step of action, 'did Cellica find anything?'
'Got.....GOT IT!' Cellica screamed from the balcony and points towards a point in space far away, 'it's in a triple secure container at the base of the space elevator.'
'It's just sitting there?' Rydel got up, 'so we weren't that behind, after all.'
'I see.' Ol gently massages his skull, 'Cellica, can you go track it down? Use markers if you can.'
'I will.' Cellica came back into the room and sat next to Rydel by the table, then she turned, looked up at Rydel and asked, 'Will you come?'
'Argh.' Rydel scratched his head, how can he not if Cellica is asking her like that? She looks way too cute here, 'Fine, I will use my last leave of holiday here, plus there isn't too much work left.'
'YAY!' Cellica jumped up and hopped towards the food printer and took out the cereal and toasts while Rydel is sitting there with his head in between his palms.
'Thank you very much for doing this.' Ol performed a slight bow, 'Things are ramping up now so we need all the help we need...'
'No matter how much I wanted to stay normal, I agree with you.' Rydel threw up both of his arms, 'this thing will get serious and everything will go to shit if we are not ready. Plus, this is fun.'
'Breakfast's ready~' Cellica slid the bowl on the table towards Rydel and it stops just on the edge of it. She seemed genuinely excited for a new adventure.
'Ok, I will leave the rest to you. Contact me if you need any help in anything, and I will keep looking into any intel that would be helpful for you guys.' Ol swiped off the holo-call and left the two to their own devices.
'Right.' Rydel brought the bowl of cereal back in front of him, 'the first scheduled space elevator will be up at ten, so let's eat.'
Soon after, Cellica and Rydel both packed very lightly for quick few days travels using the spare military-grade compact backpacks and headed off. They made it to the base of the elevator in ample time and took the first lift up. Before that, Cellica managed to head towards the loading area and dropped off a marker on the container that loads the pieces of the high energy stabilizer.
'How exactly are you able to track that thing in the next few days?' Rydel asked curiously as Cellica sneaked back in an exaggerated supposedly sneaky walk.
'Well, I am not tracking it.' Cellica shrugged and pulled out her personal interface, which is a combination of a phone, hologram projector and computer on a personal scale the size of a watch, and pointed at it. A map hologram appeared and showed where the cargo is relative to them.
'Ah, and here I go thinking you use the artifacts for everything.' Rydel frowned and nodded at that notion. That's also what he does, the artifacts do come in handy, but sometimes he might forget about using the technologies to his aid.
'Just because something can be done doesn't mean something should be done.' Cellica said, 'overreliance on artifacts are also an issue.'
After leaving the cargo bay, they then went through the security and boarded.
In the passengers seat next to him, Cellica has finally calmed down from the extreme excitement in the morning and dozed off with her head on Rydel shoulder while Rydel was looking up ship transits towards Knightsky Junction.
The next ship was almost completely empty, so it was actually quite easy to book a pair of tickets and get away of using dodgy bookies. At this point, Cellica are just simply bobbing along for the right and shared the track in algorithm so that Rydel don't have to bother her sleep. After boarding the flight with the cargo, she went straight for the bed in the twin room without even fastening the safety belt while Rydel sat down at the desk and decides to get some work done.
The journey to the knightsky junction would be roughly about a day through six acceleration gates and multiple systems. So Rydel could actually get some pretty decent work done. After switching on the audio isolation chamber for himself, he just plays the music and got to work (Audio isolation chamber is an isolated space that mimics the function of headphones without the need to stuff the ear canal).
A few hours after departure from Vulcan 5, the Vulcan system has already been left behind and the spacecraft is speeding through intergalactic space through the stable wormhole created in between acceleration gates.
Rydel has finished the very first section of his write up and filled up the plan for the rest. The introduction was always the toughest bit as all the information had to be laid out clearly, with references obviously, and none of the information can go to waste.
Despite how technology has advanced, academia seemed to be at the slower receiving end of it quite ironically.
Suddenly, he felt two hands on his shoulder and jumped up. The AIC (audio isolation chamber) was turned off automatically and the sound of spacecrafts was all he heard, apart from Cellica's voice.
'Hello, Rydel Daera.' Cellica steppes back and covers her mouth as she laughs.
'Hi, Cellica Uleric?' Rydel turned and looked at her, 'had a nice sleep?'
'Yes. Uh, can we talk for a little bit?' She stepped back towards her bed and gestured for Rydel to sit opposite her. Rydel sat down as instructed.Oh boy, here's the talk.
'I don't dislike you, Rydel. Let's get to know you better.' Cellica leaned back and drops the bomb casually.
'Wait what?' Rydel's mouth opens.
'Yeah, what?' Cellica's eye brows crunches up, 'what's that face?'
'No no no! Please don't misunderstand.' Rydel quickly clarified himself, 'it's just I thought you were going for THAT talk, Not this one.'
'Why would I though?' Cellica rolled her eyes, 'I am not like whoever you were with before.'
'Yeah... I can see that.' Rydel shivers slightly as he flashed back to the not so glorious days in his past, 'Well, that's one of the reason why you are amazing. You see things clearly, evidently.'
'You think me having the most power set of observation instrument in the world and I can't even see my own feelings?' Cellica kicked Rydel in the leg gently and lied back on the bed, 'come on now.'
'Right right.' Rydel rubs her knees gently and apologizes.
'First question, are you a cuddly person?'
Time flies when you are cuddling, and not even the scroll of truth can explain why.
'Dolon calling Cellica.' After quite a few jumps and traveling through two systems, the peace in the room has finally been broken by Dolon's call. Cellica was the only one in the room as Rydel's fetching some food in the dining hall.
'Cellica here.' She picked up.
'Alright,' Dolon took a sip of the iced tea at a music bar near the centre of the Knightskyjunction's arrival waiting area, 'are you lovebirds near yet?'
'That ain't it, D!' Cellica blushes slightly and denies it, 'we are about 8 hours away, same as the cargo.'
'Hot damn.' Dolon hit the table and caused the screen underneath her table to scramble as an AI waitress's hologram popped up and said, 'are you ready to order?'
'Yeah sorry about it. But I am sure Knightsky has plenty of entertainment for you, right?' Cellica said apologetically.
'Yeah, they got entertainment down alright.'
Dolon turned to look at a female Rockies preparing a set on the stage of the bar, she's definitely taller and slimmer for a Rockie, about half the height as an average human. She's wearing a light blue spandex clothing and fixed her hairs so fit the post-modern asthetics. She turned and scanned her audiences which is mostly humans and other Rockie travellers whilst adjusting her box of music.
'Alright, the HES is still safe on the ship. We will see you later.' Cellica said as Rydel knocks on the door, 'I will send you the flight number.'
'Noted.' Dolon disconnected the connection and turned around. She ordered some Aquarian fast foods and waited for the music to get ready. A hologram message revolves around the top of the stage, showing the name of the musician and the act: Vindy's Bangers, brought to you by Vindy.
Duh.
Dolon tilted her head slightly at the caption, but she is not going to judge a musician by the hologram above her head obviously. Vindy looks around as she finished her set up, made all the connections and pressed the button for the audio check.
'Audio check, one! two! three! One! Two! Three!'
She spoke gently into the mic and the volume adjusted itself automatically, this is the post-modern age after all.
Her voice is silky smooth with a slight cracking somewhere in between, possibly due to her many acts done before. That gives her voice a magnetic feel though and Dolon can't help but get drawn towards her. By the time she finished the second count to three, the audio has already acclimatized and it leads straight into her very first song.
With her stubby Rockie fingers, she quickly run it through the baseline beats to get the crowded into it with a slick combination of heavy and lighter percussions going back and forth towards each other. This is bog standard human music. Then she introduced a few strings and a basic melody that started winding up and up.
'Holy...' Some of the human customers sat at the table whispers slightly at the tune and bobbed their heads to it while making a stinky face, a classic human expression of sick music.
'Absolute banger, ain't it?' One talked his friend, who has stopped whatever she's doing on her personal interface and looked up at the musician confused.
'This is mad good.' Another raise their glass and stood up as he started shift around with the beat and started dancing. The whole crowd is getting into it and more and more joined the dance.
Dolon was not impressed. Typically she can just about tolerate human music, but she felt like she is just going to freak out by how...human this is. Sadly she's currently pinned down on her seat by her order of fast food and couldn't actually leave. She looked back and forth between Vindy and her passionate crowd confused and decided to look away as not to ruin the mood.
There is a War Games gaming room not so far away, maybe that's where she could kill th next few hours. Get a few good games in, go back to her ship for a cycle of sleep and then pick up the pair. Dolon thought to herself when suddenly she was interrupted by the conveyer belt delivering her food in a bowl right in front of her.
'Alright, thank you so much you lovely free spirits!' Vindy exclaimed at the end of her first song, 'now, let's show some love for our Aquarian friend!'
Dolon raises her head and scanned around. She is fairly certain there is no other Aquarian in the bar at that point, and no one else has entered.
'Yes, this song is dedicated to you, my friend.' Vindy said so with a smile as her finger tips lights up a little and makes contact with the keyboard. Rather than the beats as bases coming out, instead it's a smooth and long note from an Aquarian violin. It changed rhythmically at the perfect timing, twists and turns like a free stream of water down a mountain, and actually sounds...good?
Dolon pauses with the bowl of food in her hand and listens quietly. She hasn't heard anything like this since leaving Aquaria, yet this is drastically different from Aquarian music. This is not what a human would call a banging tune, but it completely drew Dolon into it.
She is no longer sitting in a bar at the middle of Knightsky Junction in between acceleration gates in intergalactic space, but rather transported back towards where everything began on Aquarian, and she was young and and carefree, playing Rushing (Aquarian Rugby) with no considerations for social norms or anything else in the universe. She remembers her first match ever after months and training, first team selection to represent the region and her heart condition that forced her back from the sport, her artifact.
It's humming slightly and resonating with the music, shooting off mini jolts of energy. All of her past that leads to she being where she is today, and where she is right now.
The music drops, and she landed back in Knightsky junction. Her artifacts has calmed down.
'Thank you.' Dolon turned and looked at Vindy, who smiled back. She slightly gathered herself over the next few songs until the end of her act, of which she exited with thunderous applause and cheering from the crowd, including Dolon.
Vindy disconnected her music box from all the connection and put it back on her back. She took a free drink from the crowd and went to sit next to Dolon.
'Thank you for that song.' Dolon pushes a drink towards Vindy, 'I don't know how, but that music really shook me to the core.'
'I am flattered.' Vindy down her current drink and got her hands on the other one. 'Aquarian music is a style of its own, I always loved it.'
'It's just that, I haven't heard anything like that since leaving Aquaria, and yet...'
'It's not something you have heard on Aquaria.' Vindy finished the sentences off for Dolon.
'No.' Dolon agreed, 'it's something else, it's something deeper. This is very strange, and I have never felt this before.'
'Well, the aims of my work is always to set people free.' Vindy taps her glass gently and creates yet another quirky melody, 'but there is no way to do it without setting me free first. Can you feel it?'
'I can, certainly your freedom.' Dolon looked at Vindy in the eye, 'name's Dolon by the way.'
'Vindy, but you know it already. What brought you here?' Vindy looks at Dolon and asked, 'you seemed very mysterious, and it's like you are hiding something inside.'
'I am waiting to pick my friends.' Dolon answers, 'what about you? Why are you here?'
'Well,' Vindy tilted her head back and downed yet another drink, 'isn't the essence of freedom being able to go wherever you want whenever you want? I am here, cause I want to.'
'That's a nice way to live. Especially with your level of talent.' 'Well, some might say I am just good at using what I have.' Vindy winked at Dolon as she gets up, 'now, my freedom calls for me, or rather my spacecraft ticket. It was nice meeting you, Dolon. Til' we meet again.'
'Take care.' Dolon ended up staying in that bar for many more hours until Rydel and Cellica arrives. They met at the arrivals and Dolon brought them into the ship, where everything began for them.
'Alright, I got my eyes on them. Let's go.' Cellica transfered the tracking algorithm towards the ship's navigation systems.
'Let's set this bird free.' Dolon pushes the lever and piloted the ship into intergalactic space, following the cargo ship into an acceleration gate towards the Hyperion system.

This story is set in the far future, the age of the post-modern era, when humans have evolved and progressed onto an intragalactic species, sharing the galaxy with two other intelligent intergalactic species: the tall slim water creature Aquarians and the short hairy militaristic Rockies.

Throughout the ages, myths and legends of incredibly powerful weapons were incorperated into the stories of the old for each of the species, and those weapons, each posessing incredible reality altering powers, are known as the Artifacts. 

Rydel Daera encountered one of those artifact with the power to warp space itself in one of his expeditions, and from then on his life would be forever altered. There are more of the others like him, but not all of them think of the artifacts in the same way. Hari ke tujuh. 

"Gimana?"

Aisyah memastikan sebelum memulai perjalanan.

Kinan mengangguk. "Gue telpon dulu."

Gadis itu mencari kontak yang akan ia hubungi. Bu Murni. 

"Assalamualaikum, Tiara."

Jawaban dari orang yang ia hubungi benar-benar membuat hatinya terhibur, hingga tanpa sengaja air mata pun menitik di pipi.

"Mewek mulu loe perasaan."

Aisyah tak sengaja menoleh dan melihat Kinan sudah basah air mata.

"Waalaikumsalam, Bu."

Suaranya sedikit sengau saat menjawab salam dari Murni lewat sambungan telepon. 

"Ada apa, Tiara? Kamu sakit, Nak?" tanya Murni terdengar penuh kasih di seberang sana. 

"Nggak, Bu." 

Kinan menjawab sambil menghapus air mata dengan tisu. 

"Lalu kenapa? Kok suaranya seperti sedang tidak enak badan begitu."

Kinan pun menghela nafas, dan berdehem sekali. 

"Ibu."

"Ya Tiara?"

Kinan berusaha menahan haru yang tercipta karena panggilan baru dari Murni, Tiara.

"Saya mau bicara dan menjelaskan semuanya pada Bunda," jawab Kinan dengan penuh kehati-hatian. 

"Alhamdulillah. Kapan, Sayang? Ibu akan segera ke sana."

Murni begitu bahagia mendengarnya, ia juga sangat bersemangat.

"Secepatnya, Bu... ."

Kinan menggantung ucapan.

"Baiklah, Ibu akan segera ke sana."

Gadis itu menggeleng, saat Murni mengatakan hal demikian. Ia lalu menoleh dan mengangguk pada Aisyah. 

"Saya dan Aisyah akan menjemput Ibu dan Bapak."

Murni di seberang sana terdengar penuh haru. 

"Terima kasih, Sayang. Ibu akan siap-siap. Dan hubungi Bapakmu dulu, beliau masih sering masuk kantor, tapi tidak masalah jika tak masuk."

Kinan tersenyum disela anggukan kepala. Angin cukup kencang menerpa rambutnya, sebab jika berkendara bersama Aisyah, jangan harap AC mobil ini akan digunakan, kecuali dalam situasi darurat, seperti hujan.

"Saya sudah berangkat dari kota, Bu."

Kinan menginformasikan agar Murni bisa memperkirakan ia akan sampai pukul berapa.

"Iya, Nak. Ibu siap-siap dulu."

"Bu."

Perasaan masih ada ganjalan, membuat Kinan ingin kembali mendengar ucapan Murni yang menurutnya dapat memberikan efek menenangkan.

"Ya Sayang?"

"Menurut Ibu, apa Bunda mau menerima saya?"

Wajar saja keraguan itu masih melekat di dalam dada. Kinan belum bisa move on dari semua sikap Maya, yang begitu ketus kepadanya. 

Di sana, Murni tersenyum, "Tidak ada seorang Ibu di dunia pun yang membenci darah dagingnya. Percayalah atas kuasa Allah, Nak. Kita sebagai manusia hanya mampu berusaha, Allah lah penentu segalanya. Yakinlah satu hal, kamu dan Bundamu, sejatinya pasti memiliki ikatan batin yang kuat. Jika awalnya, Bundamu terkesan ketus dan tidak mau percaya, jangan pernah berhenti menyerah, Nak. Ibu akan bantu, ada Aisyah juga. Dan mulailah untuk bicara dengan Putra. Katakan padanya."

Kinan menunduk saja mendengar jawaban panjang dari Murni, sambil sesekali merapikan rambut yang diterbangkan angin. 

Putra? 

Aisyah pun bahkan sudah berkali-kali mengatakan hal ini. Agar Kinan menceritakan pada Putra kebenaran tentang jati dirinya. 

"Iya, Bu. Saya akan cari waktu yang tepat untuk bicara dengan Putra."

"Jangan diundur-undur, Nak. Jika kamu tak mampu mengatakannya secara langsung, ada Ibu dan Aisyah yang juga siap membantu."

Kinan menggeleng. Ia ingin mengatakannya sendiri pada Putra. Meski perasaan akan sebuah penolakkan juga datang dari Putra. Namun, tak ada salahnya mencoba dahulu. Toh, malam itu, Putra pun pernah memintanya untuk menjadi Kakak. Ya. Semoga Putra tak lupa akan hal ini. 

"Saya akan katakan secepatnya, Bu."

"Ya sudah, nanti kita bicara lagi. Ibu akan hubungi Bapak dan bersiap-siap."

Kinan mengangguk, "Iya, Ibu."

Dan sambungan telepon pun  diputus.

Mereka sampai sekitar pukul dua siang, sebab, pemeriksaan yang menyebabkan kendaraan antri, membuat perjalanan jadi sangat lama. 

Kinan duduk di ruang tamu, dan Aisyah memilih untuk menerima tawaran Murni merebahkan tubuh di salah satu kamar, yang ada di rumah mereka. 

Sementara Murni masih melanjutkan mengajar daring, Kinan mencoba menghubungj Putra, via chatting. 

[Tra, ini gue, Kinan.]

Hingga lima belas menit berlalu, barulah pesan itu berbalas.

[Ya, Nan. Sorry, tadi gue ada meetting. Ada apa?]

Kinan meragu untuk melanjutkan pembahasan. Tapi, tidak ada salahnya mencoba. 

[Loe udah free?]

Cukup menunggu beberapa menit, barulah chat itu dibalas, tapi dengan chat audio.

"Ya, free, lagi on the way menuju kantor. Sorry, gue balesnya pake pesan suara, soalnya pusing kepala ngetik-ngetik dalam mobil."

Kinan tersenyum mendengarnya. Suara ini dulu pernah sangat sering menemaninya saat sendiri. 

[Nggak apa-apa, santai aja. Gue juga nggak bisa nelpon, lagi di luar juga soalnya.]

Saat balasan chat itu terkirim, Kinan merasakan sesuatu yang mengganjal. Ia bilang di luar?

Tak mungkin Putra tidak mengetahui kemana saja dia pergi bersama Aisyah selama di kampung halaman. 

"Di luar di mana? Aisyah nggak pernah bener-bener rinci kalau kasih kabar, dari tadi gue telponin, nggak diangkat sama dia."

Isi pesan audio dari Putra. 

Kinan berdecak, Aisyah bahkan menjaga semua rahasia mereka. Padahal, jika Putra tahu pun, tak mengapa. 

[Aisyah bawa mobil, Tra. Loe ngerti aja ]

Kinan membalas demikian. 

"Ya, bener. Di mana dia?"

Kinan menatap ke arah pintu kamar yang terkunci. Ah, kasihan Aisyah. Dia hanya kelelahan saja. Apa harus dikatakan, saat ini mereka di mana? Dan Aisyah sedang tidur di dalam kamar itu. 

[Aisyah lagi istirahat.]

Lagi, Putra terlihat tengah merekam pesan untuknya.

"Istirahat? Di mana emangnya kalian sekarang?"

[Di Ujung Provinsi.]

Tak lagi terlihat Putra merekan audio. 

Tapi tak lama, ada telepon masuk darinya ke ponsel Kinan. 

Kinan terkejut. Apa yang akan ia katakan? Jika Putra mencecar dengan berbagai pertanyaan. 

Sekali dihubungi, tak diangkat. Kinan mencoba mengetikkan sesuatu. 

[Tra, jangan telepon.]

Baru akan mengirim, panggilan masuk dari Putra diulang lagi. 

Hampir berada diakhir panggilan, hingga Kinan memutuskan untuk mengangkat telepon. 

"Hallo," jawabnya terdengar meragu.

"Kenapa lama banget sih angkat telepon gue?"

Putra terdengar langsung saja memberondongnya dengan pertanyaan geram. 

Tentu saja pemuda itu kesal. Ia juga merupakan tipikal lelaki yang tak sabaran, karenanya, untuk hal apapun, jika terlalu lama diangguri, Putra akan meradang dibuatnya. 

Contoh simple saja seperti apa yang dilakukan Kinan kini.

Aisyah juga sering membuatnya merasa diabaikan dan menunggu terlalu lama. Hanya saja, jika dengan Aisyah ia bisa menahan diri. Pada Kinan, ia seolah melepaskan uneg-uneg atas hal yang tak ia senangi. 

"Maaf, tadi lagi ada yang dikerjakan."

"Ngapain ke Ujung Provinsi? Aisyah istirahat, apa maksud loe dia tidur? Di mana?"

Kinan seolah mendapat desakan saja. 

"Tempat Bu Murni. Ia, Aisyah tidur."

Putra mungkin tak habis pikir, kenapa Aisyah tak bilang apa-apa padanya kalau mereka pergi keluar kota dan ke tempat Murni, Tantenya pula. 

 "Ngapain?"

Pertanyaan Putra membuat Kinan tercekat.

Si Qing's eyes lit up when he heard the girl speak. However, in a moment, the brightness started to dim. They were mere Middle Immortals, how could they manage to escape from the heavily guarded area?

After her short meeting with Zhao Yu, Miao Ying drove towards the Gao Lanqi police station to investigate the case. She would return to the cottage that night.
Taking advantage of the free time, Zhao Yu finally used some the points he had earned and transferred the recordings from his Invisible Recorder to his laptop. Those recordings could be used as evidence to bring the investors to court. Not only had they benefitted from Jiang Ke's crimes, but some were even involved in murder, amongst other illegal activities. Those people were the scum of society and had to be locked away.
To reduce the chance of implicating himself, Zhao Yu erased parts of the recording containing things he had said when he was imitating Jiang Ke. If Jiang Ke woke up, he would definitely not admit to what happened in the night club and the words 'he' had said. As such, Zhao Yu tried to cut those parts of the audio out.
When he sent the final recording to Li Luoyun, Jiang Ke's hideout and the investor's case would finally come to an end. He could finally concentrate on the barn fire. The fire was so frightening! It not only burned a large part of the evidence, but it also destroyed Zhao Yu's train of thought. To make matters worse, Yu Fusheng's appearance, and then death, complicated everything. Zhao Yu's head was filled with suspicion and doubts.
Bad things happened all the time, but Wu Fangfang's case was a beast of its own. Zhao Yu even suspected that these were the doings of the Kun Qian hexagram, and he had not stopped wondering that if he had not transformed into Jiang Ke, would the Kun Qian hexagram have ended and stopped this mess?
No! He was quick to answer himself. Even though the hexagram might have played a part, these crimes were inevitable. There must be an underlying reason!
Thinking about what had happened in the past few days, Zhao Yu realized that becoming Jiang Ke was not a mistake. Logically speaking, the fire had been pre-planned and thus unavoidable. If he hadn't become Jiang Ke, then he wouldn't even know if Yu Fusheng had survived. Furthermore, if he hadn't been in the fire and escaped, no matter how big the fire had been, it would have been labeled as an ordinary case. From that point forward, the answer would have been a mystery.
Also, if Zhao Yu had not become Jiang Ke, then he wouldn't have been able to enter the thieves' den and gather so much evidence. Even if the evidence was unrelated to the mystery man, it would still prove useful for future cases.
Based on everything combined, Zhao Yu did not regret his actions. It had all been extreme measures for extreme situations, as things often happened that he was not expecting, and he had been a little unlucky!
Zhao Yu felt traumatized after the Kun Qian hexagram ended. He had yet to start a new hexagram. But this was a critical time and he knew he had to open one. The mystery man had overlooked two important things. Firstly, he didn't know Zhao Yu was alive. The second thing was that he didn't know if Jiang Ke was dead! This made it the best time to work the case. If he could properly make use of it these points, then the case might be solved soon!
Thinking about it, Zhao Yu finally opened the system with the plan to open a hexagram. But, when he was about to press the button, he suddenly realized the whole hexagram area was covered in a layer of grey and was visibly duller than the other areas. After clicking on it, a system message appeared saying that it had been frozen and required 70 hours for recovery!
What the h*ll… This was the first time Zhao Yu encountered a situation like this. Had the system been manipulated by the Kun Qian hexagram? How could it be frozen? And 70 hours?! The case would turn cold by the time that was done.
Zhao Yu felt depressed and unfulfilled. First, there was no backup, now even the hexagram screen wouldn't open. Fortunately, he had gone through h*llish training to get here and had built up a ton of self-confidence. Even without the system, he felt that he was closer to the truth! Thus, after sending the audio, Zhao Yu brought out the whiteboard that Miao Ying brought and began to jot down a detailed case analysis, recording all the new leads he had gained.
Besides Wu Fangfang, Shi Hai, Yang Zebiao, and Jiang Ke, there was a new name: Yu Fusheng. An additional suspect meant more data and more work, but Zhao Yu was used to this. While waiting for Miao Ying to return from the station, he had already filled the entire whiteboard! When he no longer had space, he resorted to using a blackboard he found. This house had originally been a classroom, so there were blackboards and chalk lying around in the storeroom.
"Darling, come! Gao Lanqi's nightlife is not fantastic so I had to get these from the supermarket. Let's eat!" Miao Ying said as she rushed into the house with a big bag of food. It was already 10:00 pm and Zhao Yu had barely eaten anything the whole day. Even so, he didn't feel hungry. He was more concerned about the new developments in the case. Without even reaching for the plastic bag, he asked, "Miaomiao, how was it? Did you find anything?"
"Darling, eat first! Don't go hungry!" Miao Ying said, shoving the plastic bag into his hands. "Now regarding the case…" She let out a sigh.
"Ah?" Zhao Yu was shocked by her response and placed the plastic bag down. "Why, what did you find?"
"Don't rush! There are too many things to cover in just a few sentences!" Miao Ying gestured for Zhao Yu to take a seat and took out her phone. "Listen to this first…" With that, Miao Ying played an audio clip. A low husky voice could be heard.
"Oh, f*ck!" Zhao Yu was just about to sit down but bolted up upon hearing the voice. His face was full of shock. "This… this… this is the mystery man's voice! I wouldn't forget it even if I died! The voice that I spoke with… how did you get this Miaomiao?"
"This audio clip was from the time you fought with the Red 8 troops in the boiler room beside the cake shop!" Miao Ying said calmly, seemingly having anticipated his reaction.
"Oh… then this is Yu Fusheng himself?" he asked.
"Yes!" Miao Ying replied. "Wu Shuang has already proved it. When Leader Qu was harmed, Yu Fusheng was always in contact with them, so they couldn't have heard incorrectly. And Red 8 heard that Yu Fusheng had many secret hideouts across Meng County, but nobody knew the exact locations."
"If what you say is true, that… that makes Yu Fusheng the mystery man?" Zhao Yu wondered.
Miao Ying turned the audio off and showed him some photos. "Look at these. As you would say, 'we're in the big leagues now!'" she said.
Zhao Yu calmed down. "That's fine, I'm already used to it!"
