Our protagonist, John Kaiser, started to contemplate and question 'why?' why was he the only one not summoned?

And as his questions go crazy, a light emerges from the place where he was sitting.

Is this the start of our protagonist's fantasy adventure as a hero? Or will he live the same life again as an average person even in another world?

All that exists is only wishful thinking come true, all dreams become reality, for the sake of one word 'the strongest'.

After I mastered 'Restrain' and 'Explode', I decided to try Mastering 2 Other word, 'Blaze' and 'Freeze', althought it won't be as efficient as Absolute Zero or HellFire, it should be enough for me to be able to kill some monster and get Class EXP.


After Mastering 'Blaze' and 'Freeze', I decided to take yet another rest because it was already night and I started lacking mana.

The Next Day -
With My 4 Mastered Words, I was able to kill every monster I encountered, my battle plan was simple, I would first start by using 'Explode' to stun the enemy, after that I would just 'Restrain' them and then use Word of Fire or of Ice depending on the Type of the Monster.

I decided to give every Wolf Meat to the Baby Bunny which I decided to call 'Bunave', it was made from 2 Words, Bunny and Slave but don't tell Bunave about it.

Although I did that, my [Animal Empathy]'s Skill Proficiency didn't seem to increase, I decided to put on an act, I did like in a certain anime.
First - Make Lot of Monster try to attack you
Second - Act like you were helpless
Third - Act like you were going to save Bunave at the cost of your life
Fourth - Be sure that Bunave sees nothing then kill every monsters
Fifth - Reaps the [Animal Empathy]'s Skill Proficiency.

After following this plan, Bunave wasn't as cold as she was in the past, now everytime I gave her some Wolf's Meat, I could now get Skill Proficiency.

With this done, I decided to start Eating, I didn't forget to take some Dung for my [Strength Beetle], [Working Beetle] and [Re-Creation Beetle], after me and my Beetle finished eating, I saw that they seemed to be shining, when I saw their 'Status', I saw that their Level was stuck at 10 and that a new thing was written at the bottom of it, "Evolution is now possible".

After seeing that, I wondered how to actually Evolve them, soon after, I thought of just something in the line of 'Strength Beetle, Evolve', after that, [Strength Beetle] started shining even more, this light was so strong that it blinded me, after I recovered my sight, I saw that in the place of the [Strength Beetle], I saw a Huge Beetle that looked to be made of Iron. 

It directly became a Rank-D Monster [Iron Beetle].

After Understanding how to Evolve them, I evolved [Re-Creation Beetle] and [Working Beetle],
[Re-Creation Beetle] didn't seem to have changed except that it now had a [Mana Heart] making it able to use Mana now, as for [Working Beetle], the Evolution was really strange, it went from a [Giant Beetle] to an [Alpha Ant], a Rank-D Monster, I then re-named him [Nature Abomination].

After thinking for a bit, the Evolution Path seemed to be according to the [Unique Skills] owned by the monster.

I now decided to have [Nature Abomination] eat Monster's Dung that would increase the Dexterity and Agility, [Strength Beetle] would eat Monster's Dung that would increase Strength, Stamina and Vitality as for [Re-Creation Beetle], it would now only focus on eating Monster's Dung increasing Magic and Wisdom.

While I was looking at the [Monster] Function, I decided to destroy some of them and extract the skill that seemed good.

I got 30.000 more Essences and some more Skills, their were 2 skills that increased my Resistance to the environment, [Cold Resistance] and [Heat Resistance], 1 Skill called [Dodge] that allowed me to Dodge in one direction, the dodge would take nearly 1 Second, another one was [Dash], it would make me have a 50% speed boost for 10 Seconds and my last and strongest one, [Battle Instinct], it was quite hard to describe it, it would allow me to have some kind of foresight that would let me predict the possible moves of the enemy, it didn't allow me to foresight the direct move that the enemy would use though.

Those skills were mainly [Skill Fusion] ingredients except for [Battle Instinct].

I continued killing enemy but this time, I decided to make use of my monster, although I now had reduced amount of EXP when I killed a monster, I decided to just let that happen because I wanted to make Monster that would actually be useful when I fought and not just be Skill Giver.

I had no problem while farming because my Body already surpassed S-Rank but although it surpassed S-Rank, I would probably get destroyed in a fight by a person of an Humanoid Race who just reached a S-Rank Body because I only have Magical Skill making me actually useless in a close-ranged combat.

But a scenario like this would probably never happen considering that in this world, only people of low-status like Soldier or Commoner would train Physical Skill because the Magic was simply too important in a fight, a Master of the Explosion Element could simply destroy an Army of Soldiers by himself, this caused the Physical Skill to be lost throughout the year, making someone who trained his physical body to be only at B-Rank at the max.

But it was still possible that it would happen considering that the last [Hero] was considered to have an Unrivalled Body but had no magic power, I would probably be unable to kill him except if my Magic and Wisdom Reached S-Rank.

After countless hours of Killing, my Class [Word Mage] finally leveled up.

Yuna's fingers started to glow in blue light and she started drawing seal after seal in the air. Those seals would simply stay in the air without moving at all. Creating seals on air is something only those considered seal masters can do. After writing seals nonstop for five minutes, Yuna was finished creating the key. As soon as the last seal was in place, the whole seal array imploded and shrunk into the form of an actual key. Next she approached the cage that contained a clearly excited Kurama and started to slowly remove the seal tag that was above the keyhole of the cage. Just a moment before she could take it off completely, one of the chakra sources inside of it started to move and manifested into a taller version of Naruto, who immediately grabbed Yuna's hand to stop her from removing the seal.
"You shouldn't remove that."
This man was Minato Namikaze, the deceased fourth Hokage and the twin's father.
Minato has always been watching the world through Yuna's eyes and he had no idea what to make out of it. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't see what was going on inside Yuna's mindscape, so he could only judge her, by what she has done while inside Konoha. She was clearly abnormal. She had knowledge and abilities she shouldn't have and clearly had a lot of experience with survival. On the other hand, she did everything she could to protect Naruto, who clearly was a normal child from Minato's perspective. Although he was doubtful of her, he was thankful as well. Freeing the Kyuubi is naturally a completely different matter. No matter what kind of lies the Kyuubi has fed to her, Minato had to convince her not to unseal him. He already went through dozens of ways this conversation would take, so Yuna naturally would shatter all those plans instantly with the first action she took.
She rolled her eyes at him and started talking.
"Yeah, yeah, father, let's talk about that another time, since you need to hug someone now."
Minato naturally didn't expect that kind of response. He expected Yuna to be under the Kyuubi's influence; completely filled with rage and barely conscious, yet she greeted him casually and even knew who he was? What was going on?
Before he could think too deeply about that, however, a yellow-orange bullet hug-tackled him to the ground.
"FATHER!!!"
Minato's first instinct was to counterattack, but after hearing that word, he immediately stopped.
'Father? But Yuna is right there. Is that Naruto? Why is he here as well? Is their mindscape connected?'
However, seeing the crying Naruto who was currently hugging him, he quickly pushed the unnecessary thoughts away and started to hug Naruto back to soothe him.
Unfortunately for him, Yuna used that moment of distraction to quickly take off the seal, push the key inside the keyhole and open up the cage.
Minato's eyes immediately widened in terror.
"What have you done? Why did you set that monster free?"
Minato quickly moved in front of Yuna to defend her from the Kyuubi's attacks, but to his surprise, the expected attacks never came. Even though the cage had already vanished, the Kyuubi was still laying on the ground, looking at him like he was an idiot.
"What is going on? Why isn't…"
"What is going on?"
Before Minato could fully think through the situation, another person had appeared. Crimson-red long hair and purple eyes. The twin's mother, Kushina Uzumaki. When she felt the seal being lifted, she was naturally ready to help Yuna to get control of the Kyuubi's chakra, but she had no idea what to make out of the current situation.
'Yuna doesn't seem to be under the influence of the Kyuubi at all. Why are Naruto and Minato here as well and most importantly: Why isn't the Kyuubi attacking us?'
Kushina was just about to ask some more questions, when she received the same treatment as Minato.
"MOTHER!!!"
A hug-tackle to the ground. She reacted much faster than Minato and immediately hugged Naruto back. Although, she doesn't understand the situation, that doesn't matter for now.
While Kushina was distracting Naruto, Minato quickly approached Yuna to understand the situation.
"Yuna what is going on here? Why isn't that monster attacking us."
Yuna could see out of the corners of her eyes, that Kurama was slowly getting angry at constantly being called a monster, so she decided to quickly explain everything.
"Well, long story short, I became friends with the Kyuubi. I got him out of the cage so he can roam my mindscape freely and he won't try to break out of my body in return."
Minato, instead of calming down, became even more outraged.
"WHAT! You became friends with that monster? There is no way you can trust it. It will stab you in the back before…"
[ENOUGH!]
Kurama's last drop of patience finally ran out. Well, he never had many of those drops anyway.
[Stop calling me a monster already! Do you even know what you are talking about, the butcher that is called the Yellow Flash? 1000 people! You killed that many people in the span of a single day, more than I ever did in my whole life, YET I am the monster?]
Minato was about to interject with his own words, but Kurama wasn't done yet.
[Madara that bastard hunted me down, enslaved me with those disgusting eyes of his and then forced me to fight in his retarded lover's quarrel with Hashirama, yet I am the monster? That Hashirama bastard hunted down not only me, but also all of my siblings, imprisoned us and then gave us away as presents for the other villages, yet I am the monster? As soon as I get another chance to finally be free, yet another person arrives and forces me to fight. Do you truly think I give a damn about your shitty little village? Another 200 years later and it will be gone anyway. Destroyed by the greed of other humans like everyone of the civilizations you manage to create so far.
I have been imprisoned for over fifty years now. In those years not a single word was spoken to me. Yuna was the first person who talked with me normally in centuries and so we became friends. I thought I could stand your presence for Yuna's sake, but I really can't take it anymore.]
Without saying another word, Kurama turned around and left for the forest, leaving a rather awkward silence behind.
"Sigh, you made him angry. It will take me awhile to calm him down."
The first one to get out of their stupor was Minato.
"Was that true. I mean what it said?"
"First of all, it is "he" and not "it" and I am pretty sure you can answer this yourself. He didn't exactly tell you any secrets. Look at Konoha's history and you will know the truth."
Minato immediately made an ugly face after hearing this. He never bothered to think too deeply about how the bijuu are treated, but now that he heard it from another perspective, it sounds really messed up. He can't even argue against it, since it is literally written in Konoha's history books like that.
"*Sigh*, he probably doesn't care about that, but I hope you can tell him that I would like to apologize for calling him a monster."
"Sure. He will probably pretend to not care about it, but will actually be happy you apologized. "
"You sure seem to know him well, huh?"
"Haha, I do. However, enough with the pleasantries. I believe we need to talk about something. Just the two of us."
Minato's face immediately got serious after hearing Yuna's comment.
'Indeed, I want to know who that person in front of me really is. It seems like she is willing to tell me, that is good.'
"Kushina, Naruto, I need to discuss something in private with Yuna."
Although Kushina knew what Minato wanted to discuss with Yuna, she would rather spend some more time with her children instead of discussing serious matters. She was just about to start scolding Minato, when Naruto hugged her even harder.
"Don't worry kaa-san. If it is nee-san, she will have a reason for talking in private."
There really isn't much Kushina can say about that. Naruto seems to trust her completely and from what she has seen so far, there was no reason to put any doubt in her either.
"Fine, then I will just stay with you."
Naruto only nodded while enjoying the time with his mother.
What no one noticed, however, was that after seeing Kurama's outburst Naruto made a certain resolve for himself.
'I will definitely become his friend!'
 
Meanwhile, Minato and Yuna were walking into the forest and stopped after being out of hearing range.
"So, tell me, Yuna: Who are you?"

"We didn't know what was coming"

A candle was standing on top of what seems to be a tin of assorted cookies in the middle of the dark living room due to blackout. Ahmad was sitting in front of his children telling them his story while his wife was preparing the dinner with a gas stove in the kitchen. 

Ahmad is a fisherman who lives in a rural village beside the sea. During the calamity, most animals had become vicious, including pet which eventually turned into monsters. However, near the beach, they weren't that many land animal and most sea critters aren't able to go on the land. Thus, they had fewer casualties when compared to inland. It's quite common to see one whole family survive.

Looking at the flickering eyes full of curiosity, Ahmad began to turn up the notch in his story.

"The storm was wild, the sea was violent. The dark sea is home to unknown dangers. But your dad and other uncles had to go out to earn for a living and catch those damn fishes! Ouch!"

A plate flew straight toward Ahmad's head, making him felt a throbbing pain.

"No bad words," His wife told him as she was smiling.

Despite being an enchanter, Ahmad didn't have the aptitude to become a mana user that could earn a living. He is a low class E-rank who couldn't even go up against a flying chicken monster by himself. That was true for other fishermen in the village as well. They had to go out risking their life venturing the sea to catch fishes. It was fortunate for them there are more fish which stays as fish rather than becoming monsters. And most sea monsters live deeper in the sea.

"Looking at how bad the weather was, we decided to turn back. However, we were too late... the storm was already coming. The raging wind mercilessly struck our boat and rip it apart. We all had to hang on a floating plank for our lives. But that was only the beginning of danger..."

During the short silence, the children begin to get closer to hear more of their dad's story. Their mother left the stove to let the food boil for a while and sit beside Ahmad to join the storytelling. She poured hot milo in cups for all of them to drink while waiting for the food to finish getting cooked.

"We heard a sudden scream out of nowhere. Uncle Razak lit his fire to brighten the surrounding. When I finished counting heads, one person was missing. Just as I was about to tell Uncle Razak, another scream!"

The children flinched as Ahmad was shouting.

"We were confused and your dad had a feeling that I might not see all of you again..." He said with a saddened tone as he looked at his wife and children.

"The sea shook, trembling violently...gushing out of the water... a monster"

Even though they were still small during the calamity, growing up in the world mana has significantly increased the impact of the word 'monster' in this world. Before, folk stories are often told to teach lessons to children or make them behave from doing dangerous and foolish things. Nowadays, every story has truth in it. 

When they heard that their dad was helplessly hanging on a small wood while facing a monster in the middle of the sea, shivers pierce through their spine. The younger one got closer to her mother and grab her arm.

"A giant octopus with eight long tentacles that could squeeze you to death. We could see crewmates who were vanished moment ago, struggling to get out of it. The monster opened its mouth showing lines of razor-sharp teeth. It let out a roar which almost made your dad fainted. Knowing I was in the sea I managed to stay awake! Good thing the sea suddenly turned cold"

"D-did..did dad die?"

Ahmad gave a slight cough and continued to tell the story. 

"The monster was about to eat my friends when suddenly the tentacles holding them were cleanly cut by a flying a sword!"

When the children heard about a flying sword, their eyes flickered with excitement. Seems like their worries about their father has gone just like that. Ahmad was a bit disappointed but seeing how their mother smiled and nodded to him, he decided to continue.

"Yes flying sword wen whoosh and the tentacles were cut off. But, instead of falling into the sea they fell on a solid floor of ice!"

"The sea froze?!"
"Yes, the sea froze!"

A spine chilling sensation pierce through his bone due to the drastic drop of the sea temperature. To his shock, the seawater around him has turned to ice. Whilst in a state of confusion, a voice of a young man came to him.

"Uncle! Are you okay?"

Ahmad looked behind him and saw two young people, a boy and a girl was standing on the ice. Both of them was wearing black robes with a hoodie that cover their head and their entire body. On the girl's shoulder, a small blackbird was perching comfortably. Even though they look young, Ahmad somehow can feel an overwhelming presence from all of them, including the bird.

The boy lent his hand toward Ahmad and pulled him out of the water.

"It must be cold in the water"

"Master look, an octopus. It looks delicious..."

The girl said it while licking her lips.

"We haven't eaten for a while since we started crossing the sea. How do you like your seafood? Should we just boil it or burn it?"

Ahmad, unable to comprehend the conversation between those two couldn't utter a single word. Then suddenly, the monster roared and released its mana pressure. He and his crewmates couldn't bare the power and had their body stuck to the floor.

It seems that the monster was angered from having its meal interrupted by those two. Ahmad used the last of his to speak to them.

"Thank you for saving me...no us just now. But I heard the monsters in the sea are at least superior. Please run while you still can"

Instead of replying, the two of them continued with their conversation. Just by the look, they were way into it that they didn't even hear a single word from Ahmad.

"Master, how about both? And we could share with them as well?"

The girl made a single gesture with her hand and in a flash, the giant octopus was cut into pieces. The boy then put his forward, shooting flames toward almost half of the pieces, while others fell into the sea. The girl then made another gesture sending dozens of needles which pierce into each of the pieces. The pierce flesh of octopus then flew toward her. She then had a big chomp.

"Oh, master! This is well cooked"

Ahmad couldn't agree more as he could smell the nice scent of cooked octopus lingering in the air. Not just him, but everyone there could smell the nicely cooked octopus.

"I'll go boil the rest of it. You go check if anyone is injured. Hey, stop munching!"

"Ohkay masher" *Nyam *Nyam

The girl finished the octopus in her mouth and went toward Ahmad.

"Are you okay uncle?"

"That's how I survived from getting eaten by the giant octopus-like monster. We were lucky. If both of them were a second too late, most of us would be eaten alive or get our bones crushed!"

After he finished saying that, he took a sip of hot milo from the cup that lay on the floor in front of him. His children who were getting excited from listening ask their dad with glistening eyes.

"Those two must be strong!"

"Yes. They are both young, but very strong. Stronger than any people I ever met before. And..."

"And?"

"...you both have them before..."

The children looked at each other feeling confused from their father's statement as if they were trying to find answers from each other face. 'When did we ever met people as strong as that?' Much less two, even finding one is close to impossible. There's only a hand of people who could easily kill a superior rank monster by themselves. Among them, the number of people who could one-shot a superior monster can be count with ten fingers. Most of them are currently in the city of Kuala Lumpur now.

"Dad, tell us, tell us! Who's the two of them are?"

"Ah, time for dinner!"

At that crucial moment, their mother has started to serve food for dinner as if it was planned all along. The children pout their cheek feeling dissatisfied. Little do they know that Ahmad wasn't planning to end his story here. Ahmad took another sip and told his children

"They asked me to not spread anything about them but...one thing I can tell both of you"

The children still making a pouting face pretending to not having any interest in what their father was going to tell them when in fact their heart earn for an answer. Or even a clue! But Ahmad who was cheery a moment suddenly show a very serious expression as if they did something wrong.

"When I asked them how they got here, they said that they walked. Just walked on the sea. They didn't tell me their destination but..."

The children heart beat faster and faster as they get close to knowing the identity of a strong person who they might have met before. 

"They said, they came from Sarawak"

Again another question mark appeared on top of their heads as they are trying to figure out where they heard of a place name Sarawak. If they are strong people there then it should be a popular place. The answer they get however was more surprising than what they expected as their father slowly whispered to them the most taboo word in the earth right now.

"Sarawak...is a part of Borneo. Both of them walked there from the forbidden land Borneo"

"Master *nyam* *nyam* do we have more of the fried squid?"

"What fried squid? *nyam* *nyam* it's an octopus *nyam* nyam*"

"Master! What's that in your mouth?! You told me we only have the boil one left!"

"Well, yes. After I ate we only have boiled octopus"

The two of them continued to much the fried octopus they got in the last fight. Even though they prepared both fried and boiled octopus, the fried ones taste much better. The fishermen whom they shared their food also had the same opinion.

After killing the lord of Chimaera, the barrier which separated Borneo from outside has finally opened. When both of them getting ready to leave Borneo, Rentap and his men have already decided to stay with the ambition of rebuilding Borneo due to the request of Enggang. 

It took them almost a week just to cross the South China Sea to Malaysia peninsular. Since the earth has been growing since its awakened, it would take them both shorter time if they were crossing the original distance of Borneo to Malaysia peninsular. Nevertheless, they had reached their first destination by living off eating what they call seafood monsters along the way.

The sixth day of the week, they sensed the presence of human which caused their heart to beat with excitement. After living their lives in constant risk of death within a land full of monster, they finally could see another human beside the warriors.

Good thing they were managed to sense those fishermen as they might get eaten if they didn't rush to the scene after sensing the presence of a monster.

As gratitude, the people in the fishermen invited to the village and welcome them with a feast. It was fun as they greet more and more people and shared how the world has changed since the calamity. Momo also went to play with the other children, accompanied by Enggang whom all the children called 'Blackie'.

Even though they were asked to stay for a while, but Kim has already decided to depart as soon as he can after hearing some stories from the villagers about the hero from another world who came to rescue the people of earth.

Momo understood her master decision and decided to follow. The villagers offered them a lot of food for their journey, but they could only bring what they could hold. Now with a determined look on his face, Kim looked at Momo with a serious expression on his face.

"Momo"

"Yes, master?"

"Let's get ourselves some money!"

"Yes, master!"

With flickering eyes, they walk toward the sunset with burning passion

One voice silently whispered to himself

"Hah these kids"

Kim was thinking to himself while looking at his friends. Although he seems playful when he is talking to others, inside he was more mature. He thinks rationally, and act rationally. He always dreamed of becoming a researcher one day and win the Nobel Prize. He had a brilliant mind which was trapped in the wrong body, in the wrong era. If only he was somewhere else different, maybe people would become more open to him and give him chances. Every single time he displayed his geniuses no one seems to bother because none did understand.

Despite the setbacks, he doesn't really hate his life. He always has his lovely family and most trusted friends with him. They are the one who made his life interesting. Even if others didn't believe him, his family and friends always give moral support when he mentioned his dream. Regardless of whether they understand him or not, because of them he never gave hope with his ambition.

He muttered to himself again,

"Hahhh can't some interesting things happen to stimulate my brain. I'm dying here. The teacher just read his notebooks. I don't even know if he understands the content. If only a comet come smashing in or an earthqua-"

Suddenly, he felt a slight tremor. He thought he was imagining things, but the class seems to be quiet. Too quiet! Again, a tremor with higher magnitude shakes the ground.

"What is this? Earthquake?

The next time he opened his eyes, an entire day had passed. Arthur tried to stand up, yet he felt his whole body ache.
"What happened?" he asked while assessing the damage.
"Ding! You depleted your energies with that simple attack," the system explained.
"This attack is good, but if you'll lose your consciousness for one day each time you try it, then you can't use it now," the golden dragon said.
"You have a point," Arthur nodded before sighing. Even after one day, his energies weren't recovered to the point to make him even move well. "My dragonair's energy was the first to crash, right?" he asked.
"Ding! Strangely yes, despite your cultivation energy lasted longer, yet both were depleted in matter of seconds apart," the system replied.
"I need to level up both," Arthur muttered before taking a deep breath. "How are things on the other side? How is my city doing?"
"Ding! The city is fine up till now, and your army of followers are training hard at the moment," the system answered.
"No news from masters?"
"Ding! Not a single word."
"Sigh, it seems they have run away, even Amanda," Arthur shook his head before thinking about it. "But you know, this is for the better. Next time they come they will be amazed," he smiled while taking a piece of meat and a replenishing pill and chewed them both.
"Why don't you try to use pills and meat with the sword strike?" the golden dragon asked.
"They aren't enough," Arthur felt some power finally in his body to stand, "I need to raise my base strength first before anything else."
He paused as he took another pill and meat before adding, "bring me the highest horned monster here with halo."
"Ding! Going to absorb organs again?"
"No, I'll hit the higher level in my dragonair path," Arthur said before adding, "hopefully I won't meet with those elders of the black dragonairs."
"I believe you won't," the golden dragon said, "those silver dragons always spoke about their unique way of leveling up."
"Like what? Any clue?" Arthur was curious to know more about his future path.
"It's not like I went there and saw everything myself," the golden dragon laughed before adding, "they told me once that they were transported into an ancient battlefield against weird monsters and were asked to kill or capture them all."
"Wow, are you sure of this?" Arthur's eyes shone brightly with blue light.
"I told you never saw the thing myself," the golden dragon said.
"Alright, I'm very excited now," he turned towards the monster the system brought to him. It was such a gigantic monster with two horns over its head in the center of the crown.
And double halos were there over each horn. "That looks strong," he commented before sighing, "Is there anymore like it? I feel regret already killing the only unique monster we have."
"Ding! Don't worry about it, the garden is developing more of such high monsters as we speak."
Arthur nodded as he went to grab his berserker sword. The moment he held it, he found the sword humming, like a baby crying for milk. "C'mon, I can't feed you now or else I'll pass out," Arthur laughed before pointing towards the monster, "we have to make some preparations first, so be ready, we will fight a lot later on."
Arthur started to make preparations to couple with this monster using the Golam's blood and runes. This time he even used another strengthening array to upgrade the monster and another array to absorb the heaven and earth energy from around.
"Ding! You plan to advance on both?" the system was speechless while watching Arthur using the unpurified Golam's blood in one array.
"I need to upgrade both energies as fast as I can," Arthur didn't deny it, "all I need is to make the best use of the time I have before the masters appear."
"I think they won't appear until the next test is about to happen," the golden dragon said.
"Ding! I think so too," and the system agreed.
"That's for the best," Arthur said while adding the final touches on the runes before finalizing everything. "Let's start," he pointed to the monster to come and stand in a specific location.
The monster complied, and Arthur just needed to mutter the magical word, "Activate." And the coupling process started right away.
Arthur felt the familiar traction force taking him the next moment to travel to another dimension. Once he reached there, he was met with a scene that wasn't that much different than what his golden dragon told before.
He stood on top of a giant hill, with green grass covering every inch of it and extending to curtain the entire world around. The world seemed vast, with no end in any direction he glanced at.
And this world was full of monsters, all resembling the tiger headed monster he just coupled with.
The monsters were gigantic in size, with bodies resembling bulls and four strong legs of a lion. Each monster had two horns with halos, and he even noticed some with three and four horns there.
"Kill or capture, do anything you can in one week. This world must be cleared and according to your performance, your advancement will have the appropriate boost accordingly. You have one minute to prepare."
Suddenly this majestic neutral voice came from the skies, like a god supervising what was going to happen here. Arthur smiled and the next moment he said:
"System, golden dragon, are you two here?"
"Ding! We are."
"What do you need?"
"Nothing much," Arthur smiled greedily before adding, "it's just a waste to kill all those strong monsters, don't you think?"
"…"
"…"
"Open portals all around, and lets have all of these monsters enter my garden."
"Ding! Are you sure?" the system asked, "Ding! I assume there are endless monsters here."
"No problem in that," Arthur laughed, "the more the better, I need those strong monsters to work for me. It's simply a waste of time, effort, and opportunity to kill them."
"Ding! As you wish."

Arc 2 - The Dark Monster Before His Eyes

He woke up with a startle, his head still ringing from all the shouting, his mouth still tasting of blood but, in the next instant, all that was gone.

It was silent in there, wherever there was, and the light was comfortably dim, sparing his sensitive eyes. More than that, he couldn't recall having ever lain on such a smooth and comfortable surface. The bed where he'd spent his days had been hard, the mattress made of dry straw, the covers of cheap cotton or stinging wool, the red satin drapes hanging around the bed trying to give the room a lush, distinct air, since nothing else would.

His body too, lying on his side, didn't hurt as much as he'd expected it to and, as he tried to take a deep breath, he noticed the bandages wrapped around his chest. He made a gesture to touch them but his arm hurt, refusing to move. Only his fingers twitched in response. Well, at least he could feel them again, he thought with a sigh of relief, hopping that meant he wouldn't lose them after all. Even his feet had been tended to, he noticed, feeling his movements comfortably constricted.

His throat was dry, he realized, swallowing hard, which immediately made him aware of the collar around his neck. So he was still a prisoner, he concluded, tilting his head back so he could better see what his new prison cell looked like.

The bright-blue eyes that silently stared back at him made his heart stop for a split second. Eyes the color of the sky but that glowed as cold as ice. He had completely forgotten the dark, huge monster he'd seen before. And now it was right there, sitting in front of him, towering over him, ready to swallow him whole.

"You're finally awake," it said, in a deep, dark voice that sounded more like a death threat, and he wished his battered body could manage enough strength to move, so he could spring out of that bed and make a run for his life. As far as he could tell, beside the collar around his neck, no one had chained or tied him up … yet. That he would lose this opportunity to escape was beyond mortifying, it meant certain death.

"What is your name?"

Shuddering, he wished he could at least look away from that monster. That gaze was like a very hard rock weighing on his chest, making it hard to breathe, making it impossible to move.

"I think you're scaring him," another voice said, sounding a bit more gentle. "Maybe he can't understand us …?"

"He can," the monster replied with complete certainty.

"Maybe he's afraid of the qinrien. Who knows what those men did to him," the other voice suggested and the monster seemed to consider his words for a brief moment.

"You're not suggesting we take it off, right? He won't kill me. But I'm sure you won't be so lucky."

"Of course not!" the other voice urgently denied, much less gentler now. "I still want to live to an old age!" he went on and suddenly his face too, was in his line of sight.

He, at least, looked like a normal person, probably the same age the Lord had been, though he had none of the frail beauty and grace of the other man. His eyes were dark-green, a rare color amongst the common people, and the smile he plastered on his face was clearly fake, and was obviously there to try and make him lower his guard.

"Kid, you can talk, you know? The qinrien won't hurt you unless you scream. Do you understand?"

The qin-something again, he thought, and the feel of the collar around his neck made him swallow. Were they talking about the collar? And it was supposed to hurt him how? Thinking back it was true that the Lord had ordered it off on the two occasions he had wanted him to scream … The other man too, had told him that it would render him unconscious should he utter a single sound. So it was there to silence him, he concluded, firmly pressing his lips together, his lower lip hurting from where he'd bitten down on it.

"I think you just made it worse," the monster concluded and, grabbing him by an arm, roughly pulled him up, forcing him to seat.

"Careful! You'll reopen his wounds!"

"Don't worry. Don't they say they're sturdier and more resistant than normal people? He'll be fine. And if he dies, well, I had nothing to do with it."

The nicer man sighed and moved away.

His back burned at the sudden movement, making him gasp before he quickly pressed his lips closed again. And yet no amount of pain could ever be scarier than the endless darkness looming right before his eyes.

"Your name! Talk or I swear I'll feed you to the dogs!"

The hand around his arm squeezed him until it was painful but the word dog left a different cold fear in the pit of his stomach. He hated and feared them probably as much as he feared that monster, with the difference that he knew first-handedly what a wild dog could do to a small, defenseless child.

Lips quivering, he opened his mouth and tried to use his voice to speak, which he hadn't done in a very long time.

"Snow …" The word broke halfway out, his throat too dry, his lips cracking with the movement, making his mouth taste like blood again.

The hand released his numb arm and the darkness pulled back, giving space to the other, nicer man, that gently pressed a cold glass of water to his parched lips.

"Drink slowly."

Snow tried to obey and tried not to spill. Who knew when he'd be offered water again? But, even so, his lips wouldn't move the way he wanted them to, and the precious liquid still dripped down his chin and onto his legs.

"A common name," the man offering him the water was saying. "As we thought, no one registered him."

"Who in his right mind would? It's already amazing they didn't kill him at birth. They probably thought they'd stroke gold when the local Seer announced his birth. Probably intended to sell him for a good price to the Finders. And then he came along. That they didn't kill him on the spot is a miracle in itself," the monster replied

The other man gave him a sorrowful look and nodded. When the water in the glass was all gone, even though half of it had been unfortunately wasted, the glass was taken away and the dark monster occupied his entire vision again.

"Where did you come from?"

Blinking and trembling from the sheer intensity of him, Snow simply shook his head.

"You're terrifying him, you know?" the green-eyed man asked.

"How come? I haven't done anything to him …"

"Still, just look at him … He's shaking like a leaf."

"You and that bad habit of yours, pitying everything that looks small and frail. Do I need to remind you that this little leaf of yours murdered one-hundred-and-twenty-seven of our men in one breath?"

At that Snow's eyes widened in shock and disbelief, filling with tears as he pressed his lips tighter again.

"You can close your mouth all you want! Now is a bit too late for that!" the monster almost growled at him, his anger making him look even darker, even more terrifying.

It wasn't as if he could help it. It wasn't as if he hadn't tried to hold it in. After what had happened in that dark cell he had tried his best … he really had … He had never wanted to harm, much less kill, anyone. He hated the mere thought of it. The sight of people dying, the pungent scent of blood, their vacant, cold eyes staring back at him. He wished he could undo it. All of it. But he knew better. And he also knew that there was no use trying to explain any of that.

"So answer me! Where did you come from?" Lips pressed tightly shut Snow shook his head again. "What does that mean? You don't know or you don't want to say?" the monster asked again, his voice sounding harsher with every passing moment, and he forced his lips to part again. Anything but being thrown to the dogs … he'd rather die right there and then.

"Don't … know …" his voice cracked again and the monster seemed to grow angrier.

"What do you mean you don't know??"

He cowered at the sound of that large roar and the other man stepped in again, bravely placing an arm around the monster's shoulder.

"Calm down. Do you want him to answer or faint from fear?" The monster growled some more but went finally quiet. "Don't be afraid. He won't bite you," the green-eyed man joked, but the monster's bright blue eyes were still fixed on him, a constant looming threat. "My name is ZenTar. You can call me Zen. And your name is Snow, right?" The boy nodded, still clearly afraid, his pale eyes looking like large, round moons. "So, Snow, can you tell us how you came to be here?" he asked, as gently as possible, keeping that fake smile on his lips, and Snow lowered his head trying his best to bring some order to his foggy memory.

"Men … came … Took me … away …"

"Men? All right. Where were you when they took you?"

A frown marked his forehead.

"Bed …" was the only word he could think of.

"Bed? Were you sleeping?" Snow shook his head. "You were awake, then. Were you sick?" He shook his head again. "But you were in bed," ZenTar wanted to make sure and received a nod as confirmation. "Was the bed in a bedroom?" Snow nodded again and, at the word bedroom, fragmented memories floated back to the surface.

"Green … walls … Brown covers … Dark ceiling … Red drapes …"

"Windows?" ZenTar asked and the boy shook his head.

"No windows … no light … one candle …" he whispered.

"I see … And how long were you in that bedroom?" He shook his head and then looked up at the monster, startled, recalling how angry he'd been the last time he'd answered like that.

"Don't … know …"

"A long time?"

"Long … long … time …" he confirmed.

ZenTar seemed to ponder for a moment, his expression turning cold and serious for a moment, before he returned that fake smile to his face and looked down at him again.

"Were you alone, Snow? In that bedroom?"

"Some times …"

"And the other times?"

Another memory popped into his head.

"JanHai …" he blurted out and ZenTar frowned, making him wonder if he'd said something wrong.

"JanHai?! A woman? Was this the name of the woman staying with you?"

"Some times …" he repeated, fearful of what they might do to him, and the black monster sighed.

"Obviously a fake name. Women of the night will frequently adopt noble names, even though being caught doing so is punishable by death."

"Why, my dear Calzai, you're surprisingly knowledgeable in the most unexpected areas," ZenTar mocked and received a deadly glare in return. "Can you remember any other names, Snow? Strange names like JanHai …"

The boy made an effort to recall something else, any other name, any other word.

"Wei …" he finally whispered.

"Wei? Only Wei?" He nodded.

"Another woman?" the monster asked but he didn't know how to answer that.

"It could be a man. A Nobleman. Or maybe … the Province?" Snow tried his best but he still couldn't tell which. "Well, I'll look into it, anyway," ZenTar decided with a sigh, and then the monster was leaning over him again, those bright blue eyes boring holes into his soul.

"Are you a Celestial?" his thundering voice asked but he could only look up at him, unable to move, almost unable to breathe.

"I believe you're asking the wrong question, Nox."

"You have got to be kidding!"

Ignoring him, ZenTar leaned forward as well.

"Snow?" the gentler voice called him, and it took his entire willpower to avert his gaze from those blue eyes and look upon the other man's face. "Do you know what a Celestial is?"

Still blinking, he shook his head and then thought it was better, and safer, to use his own words to answer.

"I don't …"

The sound of a cold, cutting laughter made him cringe, because there was nothing happy or funny about that sound.

"I can't believe this shit! I feel like I was forced to adopt a damned, dumb pet and will be put to death for doing it!" the monster growled again, his blue eyes looking even more savage, even more dangerous, and Snow cringed again.

"Now, now, don't be like that. We'll find a way. You'll see."

"Yeah I'll see! I wonder if they would let me live if I offered him as a sacrifice to the Temple! As atonement or something. You know? Like when people offer livestock to be burn in the holy fire in hopes it will cure a disease. Since I won't be the one doing the killing I'll probably survive, don't you think?"

"Well, yeah, probably. If you can manage to stay alive for that long …"

"And then there's that," the monster grumbled and Snow did his best to act as if he hadn't just heard them discuss his impending death. Well, it wouldn't be all that bad, he thought, lowering his gaze. If they only wanted to kill him, that is. It could be worse. Much, much worse, as he very well knew.

Born a fatherless bastard and with an impoverished, ravaged Province to Govern, Nox ZaiWin has more than enough on his plate.

And so yeah, the last thing he wanted was to become some Celestial's Chosen One.

And is that even a Celestial? Hasn't the brat just murdered more than one-hundred of his men with a single scream? Aren't Celestials supposed to be holly, pure beings, that abhor all forms of death and killing?

No other choice! No matter how sinful it may be, the brat must die!

Snow has lived most of his life locked in a dark room, explored and sold for his miraculous blood. There are a lot of things he does not understand about the outside world. But one thing is certain. He does not want to have anything to do with some scary dark monster. He wants to be free! And he’ll do whatever it takes to reach his goal.
