When Taylor woke up on Earth and removed his VR helmet, he could see his whole family standing before him with worry written on their faces. He was thought of to see them,
 'just like I thought they are worried about me'
 So Taylor thought he should say something to comfort them or else they will ban him from entering the Fantasy World. 


" What gift did you get?",
Asked his mother, before he could even say anything. 

Hearing that he said, 

" I got a drink, but can only use that after I reach level 10"

 he didn't tell about the clone, because that is not going to be a satisfactory answer they want. But this will make them have no other way than to let him enter the Fantasy World. After all, to get the gift, he got to level up. Since his family was always worried about his blocked meridians. 

'So it will be a sure hit'

" So it can't be helped until you reach level 10. You have to enter the Fantasy World. After that let's talk about it later"

said his grandfather. Hearing that he made a victory pose inside his head. 
' yeah... I am a genius'

Then his father said, 

" Give us the helmets you have bought for us. We also want to enter the Fantasy World ", hearing that he was shocked. 

Looking at his shocked face, his grandfather smiled and pointed at the wall clock. Taylor turned to look at that only to be shocked, the digital clock is showing 10:30 pm... He again looked at his grandfather for an explanation, because he spent about 2 hours in the Fantasy World but only 30 mins have passed here. 

" The world is going in utter chaos due to the revelation made by the ZEON. About 9:45 after you entered your game. I got a top-secret mail send by ZEON. Every big family received the mail. About the details of what thought to be a game but became the other world. In that, they said, that the game is actually another world. That will go under war in 2 years. So before that happens everyone should level up so that we can participate in the war. It's said that at least one person in a house should enter the Fantasy World after the second update that will happen in 6months, expect kids under 14 years old,  . This is not only the life of the Fantasy World but also linked our survival."
Hearing his grandfather, Taylor was bewildered. Even though he knows things will be not like before, Still to ask everyone to enter. It's too much. 

" It's said that after the second update things won't be the same. You can even open your inventory in the real world. You can transfer material in and out of the Fantasy World by creating portals. But that may cost a fortune even in the Fantasy World, so the economy will have to rely on the Fantasy World. So no other  choice we have to enter the Fantasy World."

Taylor asked his grandfather, " didn't they say anything about the Fantasy World. How is people's level? Demons level. Or the scale of war. "

George smiled hearing Taylor's question, ' wow. The kid isn't showing any fear. He is calm'

Then he said, " It's written that the time difference is about 1:4, 1 hour here is equal to 4hours in the Fantasy World. You can learn different skills from the Fantasy World but you have to do yourself. The game feature is only there because every world updated will have these leveling features. It is there only to accelerate to increase the growth speed of people. One of the benefits of being a level 2 world. And are three important things about the Fantasy World,
 1. It has become level 2 before 500 years and some of the high-level beings that the level 2 world can't hold ascended to level 3 worlds. But still, there are lots of powerhouses in Fantasy World. 
 2. The penalty of dying in Fantasy World, you can't log in for 2 days and you will drop 2 levels below. 
 3. You can take any profession in Fantasy World, you can even rule lands in Fantasy World. Create an army. But should not desert the war."

After a few more questions, Taylor gave them the VR helmets that are stored in his locker and send them away. 

After they went out of his room. Taylor took out his laptop and opened his mail. He asked his grandfather to transfer him the secret mail. He had to read that. Rather than hearing others, knowing for yourself is better. Because things that are not important for others might be useful to you, as you may have different opinions.

Bing... 

Taylor received the mail from his grandfather. And started reading it slowly. When he finished it, he spent 2 hours for 10 pages. 

Phew...  He lay down on his bed and analyzed the information he collected. 

' The Fantasy World is 10 times larger in size than his world, it holds about 700 billion citizens in it. The citizens of Fantasy World are not only consisted of humans. There are fairies, elf, trolls, orcs, dwarfs, dragons... It is only the known one that is reported to Earth there are still a lot of beings not added in it. Man, they even have mermaids.'

' And the hard part is they are praying different god's in different regions of the Fantasy World. The people of Earth are going to be scattered based on the region they are connected from. So they can group together and level up faster. As the demon has started affecting the planet. Lots of species are affected by demonic qi. There are lots of dungeons forming everywhere in the Fantasy World. How are the dungeons formed?.'

'Grandpa didn't say anything about the dungeons, because mom was there.'

' Finally, the most important thing is I have god's blood with me. Since they are saying gods exist in Fantasy World, it has to be real. It's magic after all.'

Then as he turned towards his VR helmet, he thought... 
' Then that devil face in the mask. Damn it. I even made fun of it. This is a damn real world. I would have gone -2 level... '
 
Then he thought about the mechanical voice,
' So how did the mechanical voice in my mind knew about the Fantasy World?. How is it connected to Fantasy World?. How to merge white and black qi?. Is the battlefield in my dream past or future?. Is it Fantasy World or Earth'

I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of this earlier as most my stories are basically Fantasy with a capital F so let me get right into it. What separates 'Fantasy' from 'Contemporary' works isn't just where it's set but also the level of contrivances that are allowed.

As I've said before, every story allows a certain level of contrived scenarios where Destiny and Fate are actually a thing. Fantasy stories in particular work best when you go all in on your imagination.

I know you all have had it drilled into your brains that a certain level of 'realism' is needed even in a fantasy story. However, what most mean by that isn't adding the laws of physics to your story but keeping it internally consistent with clear laws and limits.

I'm pretty sure you guys don't need a rundown in how society works because fantasy societies work the same way expect they have the word 'Magic' added to them. Do NOT rip off Elves and Dwarves from the Lord of the Rings and flex the creative muscles in your brain a little. There's no limit to the kind of magical races you can make in a Fantasy!

This also applies to magic. However, people only remember limitations more than what a persons using Magic System can generally do since 'magic is omnipotent unless proven otherwise'. There will be no narrative stakes or tension if you can't even make sure random nobodies aren't shooting off nukes and your main character isn't invincible beyond measure.

There are people who tend to overthink about how to write Fantasy since it's such a popular genre everyone and their dog is writing. You don't need someone else's guideline to write a Fantasy since most good Author's base them out of existing literature of the past or modern ones they are retelling using their own tropes and characters.

You'll never get anywhere if you need someone else to flex your creativity when looking into the past brings forth many mystical stories and myths that all wouldn't be possible without a little bit of magic sprinkled onto them. The classic LitRPG genre with stuff like Guilds and Adventures is popular to use nowadays but only because you don't have to explain much in a story that's so easy to figure out.

If you're going to use the LitRPG setting with dungeons and dragons, make sure you make it character driven and focus on people rather than explaining how fireballs work. The only reason Slime Reincarnation (That Time I Reincarnating As A Slime) or Sword Dad (I Was A Sword When I Reincarnated) are so popular is because behind the Power Fantasy are well-written and diverse characters.

If you want to write your own Fantasy World unique to only you, then it's best to start researching ways to ground it with your audience. These days people want to read about 'people' more than someone dumping lore about a fictional world they don't care about. Even pure Fantasy stories needs a protagonist that can be the reader's eyes and ears.

Now, thanks to the Isekai Boom, you may think that a main character HAS to be reincarnated for basically no reason whatsoever. However, that is ill-advised as people reincarnated for trivial reasons bore the audience to death. There's this Fantasy story about this non-reincarnated girl who was raised by Death himself in a regular medieval magic world, causing her to be a mix of creepy and cute all at the same time. This is an example of the kind of plots which are interesting BECAUSE their MC is a member of this world but special rather than some random guy from Earth who just so happens to be Isekai'd.

Isekai can be done right when the main character's rebirth or transportation into this world holds some sort of meaning. However, it can turn into a very boring story with maybe one or two gimmicks if you aren't even thinking of an ending for it.

Getting back to the main point: You seriously won't be able to write a Fantasy properly unless you at least know something about characters (If you haven't already figured that out already).

How the life of this character, under the special upbringing that only those of your Fantasy World go through, is interesting to the reader depends of where you take the tropes of your regular Fantasy.

You can go the 'Epic Fantasy' route, then copying the Hero's Journey is fine as long as you switch it up a bit. As long as you understand the fundamentals of a Hero's Journey and not look at it as the ONLY WAY TO TELL A STORY then you're on the right track.

Those who are wondering what a Hero's Journey is can find the link at the bottom. Also try searching for Dan Harmon's Story Circle for a more character driven version of it on YouTube. Anyway, this trope is basically the origin of the whole 'Chosen One' trope.

As for what I meant by Epic Fantasy, it is actually quite beloved type of story for many who love the Fantasy genre. It could be about the journey about a chosen one destined to defeat a Big Baddy like Eragon, Lord of the Rings, etc. There are even shorter and more simplified versions of this which is basically where the 'Hero Vs Demon King' trope came from. As long as there's a quest fraught with danger then people would love to read about a chosen one being able to win against their foes.

Another route you can take is Dark Fantasy, where all the lovely tales of HP Lovecraft comes from. His stories may lean more on the spectrum of supernatural tales about Dark Gods and Cults but the way everything seems to be ripped out of a nightmare is what I'm trying to focus on. If a regular Fantasy is like a dream then a Dark Fantasy is one you'd rather avoid since the world is screwed up.

And I don't mean the characters are screwed up or insane by any means, I literally mean either the Magic System or how society works is genuinely screwed up. Read 'Dungeon Seeker' as an example of this (Warning: Don't read it if you don't want to pollute your innocent mind with all the corruption in this story). Either way, it could be the Magic System relies on the blood of orphans, or it could be you have to kill a loved every time you cast a spell. The main point is that this Fantasy World is just hell.

Now, I could move on to Urban Fantasy and other sub-genres, but that would be wasting my time and yours since TV Tropes exists for a reason. Just remember what I've said and have a clear goal in beginning and end planned for your character's development and you'll be fine. There's nothing better than a story that's focused after all.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

His progress finally made him decide that it was time. There was also the deeply buried worry in his heart about Uncle Hua's health. So, he made the decision. Another important reason was that he had recently finally made a breakthrough with motion-illusion fantasy card making. That difficult problem had perplexed him for a long time. 
As compared with the still-illusion fantasy card, a circular composition is added to the fantasy card which can emit motion-illusions. But as every card master knows, the degree of difficulty to make the motion-illusion fantasy card is much higher as compared with the still-illusion fantasy card. The most directly observed manifestation of this was the price of the cards. Maintaining such patience would be enough to make others bristle, but not for an "adept" in the street punk world like him, who has been able to survive street punk life long-term. 
Observation! Lengthy observation wasn't dry at all for him.
His progress was fast; fast enough even to surprise himself. For the first time, he wondered if he might have natural talent for card making.
The eagle flies, while the rabbit walks, the wind blows while the water flows, the sun rises in the morning and sets at night . . .
There wasn't one of the motion fantasy cards that he made which wasn't exceptionally lively. But those weren't his most realistic motion fantasy cards; those were of bustling and hasty pedestrians, or cats and dogs wandering in the night . . . those childhood scenes were deeply burned into his mind. He could make them appear almost without thinking. These became among his most treasured riches.
That day, he planned to make a fantasy card advertising-poster for Uncle Hua. But because it was his first time making a fantasy card billboard, and he didn't have any experience, Chen Mu planned to stroll about on the street, to learn about what sort of style was used in other people's fantasy card billboards. 


This is both a work of science fiction and an exploration of the meaning of life, love, literature and art. Brainpower is no longer the main ingredient for being human in this far distant future world.
