The difference between this group and traditional groups was the addition of a jolly looking Santa Claus . . .
After entering the villa, the group gathered in the living room before the little girl opened her mouth and sang in a clear and crisp voice. "A ray of hope flickers in the sky. A tiny star lights way up high . . . "
As the sound of her singing resonated, the youngsters also began to sing. "All across the land dawns a brand new moon. This comes to pass when a child is born . . . "

Giselle chose to save the potpie later and made the casserole.
Lia found it satisfying as she savored the meal with every bite mouthful to fill her tummy. Giselle asked about school, and the conversation slid back to about the school festival.
"You should join if you like, Lia,"
"But, I want my father to be there to watch me,"
"You did tell him, right! I'm sure he is working hard to earn that early holiday visit trip."
There was an awkward silence, and Giselle knew she should step in to save both Ethan and Lia.

Giselle went on to push the child to listen to her voice. Lia's wish to join the play already softened her grieving heart, and now with her mother's appeal, she could hardly control anymore of her desire to take the stage.

Fairy lights hung low in dashing colours of red and green as they blinked in attention, ready for Christmas, while ornaments decorating every inch of the place. 


Together, the tinsels and soft carols playing in the background let off a welcoming glow that brightened the whole atmosphere.


Pleasantries and holiday cheers contributed in filling the air with lively spirit. 


The flashing lights cast a glow that illuminated her face, giving her an ethereal look, such as those of an angel. Her white clothing reflected the lights and shone in the dim room. 

'She's beautiful ... ' The man wearing a red and white outfit thought to himself, his heart beating faster as he felt as if it were like he could stare at her forever without getting tired. 


The frost joined in with its merry greetings of the first snowfall of the year. The freezing winds seeped through the door of the function room and people nearby occasionally shivered as the cold draft blew past their legs. 


It would've been the perfect atmosphere for Christmas, if not for one thing … 


Casper sighed. He'd made himself a promise at the start of the year; one that sat at the very top of his New Year's Resolution list. It was something he had wanted to fulfil by the end of Christmas, except it looked as though his promise would have to wait for another year.


He looked down at his mug of steaming cocoa and sighed heavily. The year had flown by so quickly and was almost over, which meant another year gone and wasted. 


He remembered New Year's Day so clearly … how could he not? It was the day he'd promised himself that the following year would be different, but maybe some things just never change. 


Maybe he should just give up trying. After all, he excelled in pretty much everything, but when it came to romance, it seemed like everyone else was better than him when it came to finding a partner. Even the two of his densest friends, who'd been dancing around each other for years, had finally gotten together. 


Maybe it just wasn't meant to be ...


He quickly finished up his hot cocoa and decided to leave the party early. Putting on his coat, he said his goodbyes and started walking towards the entrance. 


The thought of the freezing winds only added on to the chaos in his head as his heart sank lower and lower. 


Closing his eyes, he opened the doors and prepared to be hit by the chilling winter air. 


It never came. 


He opened his eyes to see Daphne holding an umbrella in her hands, smiling at him. 


"Why are you out here alone in this snowstorm without an umbrella?" She asked gently as he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. 


"Well … I may or may not have forgotten to check the weather app this morning." She chuckled at his words and offered to walk him home, something he immediately agreed to. 


The streets looked like as if it were a ghost town; there was no one in sight for miles. Even the sidewalks, usually crowded with people were now deserted save for the two of them. Everyone had gone home to celebrate the holidays with their families or loved ones.


They stepped out and onto the main road only to start shivering uncontrollably in spite of the thick coats they wore. 


The snowflakes that used to be blissfully drifting down now begin to plummet down to earth faster and harder then ever.  


The once gentle winds were now morphing into a howling gale; something nobody had prepared or expected. 


As they surveyed the damage, they realised that it would probably be the worst snowstorm their little town had seen in decades. 



"Come on, you can stay at my place until this whole thing blows over." Daphne offered, shouting slightly as she offered a hand to him; and the fierce winds continued to drown out her voice.

Christmas was always a special time when Andrea was growing up. Even though her mom couldn't afford to buy her girls much, she always got them something, and the family spent the day together, usually at her grandparents' farm. Now that Andrea was older and could afford everything she wanted, it wasn't about getting gifts for her, it was about giving them.

There was just one problem. She'd had her family's gifts shipped to her mom's house weeks ago. She hadn't planned on Case being there. It wasn't until late Christmas Eve, when the family was singing Christmas carols around the piano while her sister played that she realized she had nothing.

Andrea had dashed out to the mall to try and find something, but it was difficult, and what she finally picked out seemed silly now as they all sat around opening presents. Case seemed content just to watch. She assumed he had enough money to buy anything he wanted, too, and probably didn't care much for presents, but she still felt bad.

"Case, I was able to do a little shopping the other day," Karen said with a big smile on her face as she pulled out a large present from behind the tree. Andrea raised an eyebrow. "I hope you like it."

"For me?" Case looked around, stunned. "Wow. I wasn't expecting anything."

"Everyone has to have a gift on Christmas morning!" Karen protested, handing it over. She'd also already made sure he received a stocking full of candy, like her daughters. 

"Well, thank you." Case opened it up to reveal a battery operated heated blanket. It was dark blue, the same shade as his the majority of his racecar. "This is great!"

"I figured you could throw it in the trunk of your car in case you ever find yourself stranded in the snow. It's supposed to keep a person warm for hours." Karen's smile showed she was proud for coming up with something he actually seemed to like that was practical.

"That is a great idea. We do get snow in North Carolina. Thank you so much, Mrs. Testa."

"Please! It's Karen!" She swatted at him, her smile beaming.

"There's another one over her for you," Leslie said, pulling out a much smaller box.

"That's, uh, nothing." Andrea hit her face behind her hand. If she had known her mother was going to get him a nice present, she would've asked her to pick something up for her as well!

"It says it's for Case. From you." Leslie's eyebrows arched. For a moment, Andrea felt like leaping across the room and tackling her sister like she might have when they were younger.

"I didn't make it out shopping until late last night...."

"I'm sure I'll love it, no matter what it is." Case smiled at her, but Andrea still felt ridiculous.

He unwrapped the box and opened it. She watched his face and saw a hint of amusement. "It's.. a tie. With racecars on it."

"Now that there's a nice tie!" Grandpa Jack said from his seat in the recliner near the tree.

"The cars are the right color, too," Case added. "Thanks, Andrea."

"I... I'm sorry. I'll get you something better next year, I promise."

His smile met his eyes when he realized what she was saying, and Andrea's heart skipped a beat. Would they be together next year? She hoped so.

"All right! Let's clean up the paper and head to the dining room for Christmas breakfast!" Karen clapped her hands together to show her joy. 

Once the room was cleaned up, Leslie helped Grandpa into the dining room where Karen and Tim were already setting the table. Andrea was about to follow when Case gently tugged on her arm. "I have something for you."

"You do?" She had noticed he'd bought gifts for the rest of her family, all of them much nicer than her stupid tie, but she assumed her gift was just getting her there.

"Of course. You didn't think I'd get everyone else something and not you, did you?" He smiled at her, and she couldn't help but stare at his luscious lips, remembering the feel of them on hers.

"I... I guess not."

He pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to her. Andrea opened it to see a beautiful, shimmering diamond necklace. The pendent was the shape of a snowflake with a large diamond in the middle and several others making up the rest of the snowflake. "Oh, Case! It's beautiful!"

"I wanted to make sure you never forgot our adventure together. I hope it's the first of many to come."

Tears filled her eyes at the sweet gesture. "Thank you so much!"

He bent down and pressed his lips to hers quickly, too quickly. Andrea wanted it to last longer. "Do you want to put it on?"

"Yes, please." She took it out of the box and handed it to him before turning and pulling her hair out of the way. His warm breath caressed the back of her neck, and the feel of his fingertips on her skin as he hooked the clasp had her knees threatening to buckle.

She turned back to show him, and he grinned at her. Andrea wanted to kiss him again, longer this time, to show him how much he was beginning to mean to her, but her mom was calling from the other room. It would have to wait for later. "You're amazing, Case. I'm so glad you talked me into getting into the SUV with you."

"Me, too." He brushed a strand of red hair away from her eyes and then gestured for her to head into the dining room. His hand on her shoulder just felt right. Andrea was starting to get used to the idea that she belonged with Case.

She looked at him and smiled. Then her face turned thoughtful. "That day, ages ago, when we visited the theme-park?"
He had to search his mind a little before he recalled the madness when they were still freshmen. When Kyoko's unsaid question became clear he blushed a little. "Yeah. I wanted to look cool for the girl I liked. If you didn't notice anything I guess I managed."
She shook her head. "I love you, but sometimes you're just stupid. Well, it's not like I'm longing for ferris wheel rides." She yanked his hand. "Yukio, promise me you tell me next time you feel uncomfortable! There are two of us. Don't make yourself feel bad just to make me happy!"
'How could I possibly not have fallen in love with you?' "I promise."
Shoulder length hair catching the wind from time to time, facial bones a little more distinct now than half a year earlier, but still with her generous forms where it counted despite having lost a little weight. Looking at her gorgeous eyes Yukio wondered if she had ever been as beautiful as now.
"I must have been a very good boy during my last incarnation," Yukio said and laughed.
"Huh?"
"To deserve you in this one."
She didn't answer. On the pavement, with people busy around them she just stopped and threw her arms around him.
'Bliss!' Yukio allowed himself to be immersed in pure bliss for the first time in months. There were no worries, no tomorrow; just the two of them behaving very improperly and people looking at them when they passed on either side.
It wasn't until a cold tendril of wind caressed his neck that Yukio reminded himself that standing still outdoors might not be the best of ideas.
"Station?" he asked.
She nodded.
He led her to the train station they very seldom used. There was one closer to where they lived, but today they walked to the one closest to school.
Old housing quickly gave way to more modern buildings clustering the station, and they were inside. After they flashed their passes a few stairs brought them outdoors again, but it was only a five minute wait before they could board a train headed for a city core.
"Circle line?" Yukio wondered as they sat down.
He grinned. "We'll have to take the subway at Ueno anyway."
Kyoko pretended to growl and gave him a knock on his head. "For an entire station. Not the same thing."
"We could take the bus."
That earned him another knock. Urufu would have won that race by bike. Going by bus through Tokyo was tedious at best, and Yukio wasn't even certain how to do it in the first place. Rails didn't move, so trains couldn't exactly change routes from one day to the next.
