Saturday 13th 2010 - Apartment 5

It was 7:30 am. Li Xiuying and Little 4th were showered and dressed. They were sitting at the kitchen counter eating some vegetable dumplings that Li Xiuying had made with soy milk. 

Li Xiuying: "Bad night sleep? You look like a baby panda."

Little 4th looked a little guilty as he told a small white lie: "I slept fine big Sister YingYing." He only managed to sleep for 4 hours the night before.  I can't let Big sister think I couldn't sleep, she might not let me stay over again.

Li Xiuying raised an eyebrow. "Mmm. You'll have to have a nap after we get to the hospital."

Little 4th nodded and continued eating the dumplings. 

Little 4th noticed Li Xiuying smiling at her phone.

Little 4th was curious: "What are you looking at big sister YingYing? 

Li Xiuying: "News."

Little 4th remembered that his big sister had asked his daddy to help her report some news about some Yu Yan and ex-fiance.
Little 4th: "Can I see?" His eyes contained curiosity. 

Li Xiuying put her phone in Little 4th's hand.  He stared at the man and woman.
My big sister is much better than this woman. This man doesn't look worthy of my sister. 

He handed the phone back. They then proceeded to finish their breakfast before heading to the living room to watch some TV.

At 8:00 am Qin Jingfei shot out of bed.

Qin Jingfei ran to the living room. "Why didn't either of you wake me up! I only have 30 minutes to get ready, do you know how long it usually takes me to get ready and I have to..."

Little 4th and Li Xiuying didn't look away from the TV.

Little 4th expressionlessly said: "You didn't ask us to wake you up. You should have set an alarm."

Li Xiuying: "14 minutes and 30 seconds."

Qin Jingfei: "AARRRGGHH"
She quickly went to shower and get away from the expressionless zombies on the sofa.

At 8:15 Li Xiuying and Little 4th were putting on their coats and shoes in the foyer. 
Qin Jingfei ran towards them her coat over her arm, her bag half falling from her shoulder, her hair falling all over her face, she had a steamed bun in her mouth and no makeup on her face.

Little 4th looked at Qin Jingfei.

Qin Jingfei finished chewing her dumpling and said sternly: "Don't say a word little 4th."
Qin Jingfei sulked and became even more unhappy after seeing Little 4th's "why do you look like that" face.

Li Xiuying and Little 4th strolled leisurely hand in hand towards the hospital.

Qin Jingfei: "What are you two doing right now?"

Little 4th replied in a matter-of-fact tone: "We're walking to the hospital, it takes 20 minutes." 

Qin Jingfei: "I realize we're walking, what I was asking is why aren't we taking the car?"

Li Xiuying: "Exercise and Parking."
Qin Jingfei: "Fine you two walk and get exercise. Can I drive your car?"

Li Xiuying: "Are you covered by my insurance?"
Are all the Qin family covered under my car insurance policy? I should ask Elder Qin.

Qin Jingfei: "..."
This is what uncle must have been referring to when he said that Dr. Li could render people speechless with a few words.

Qin Jingfei cried inside: I thought I could do my makeup in the car!!!

An unhappy Qin Jingfei and Little 4th dropped Li Xiuying to her office then headed up to Qin Jingfei's office.  

Li Xiuying sat at her desk with Director Zhang sitting opposite. 

Jiang Huan: "Would you like some tea?"

Director Zhang: "No thank you, I'm supposed to be nil by mouth."

Jiang Huan: "I wasn't erm okay. Dr. Li would you like some tea?"
I wasn't asking you. Now Dr. Li might think I'm incompetent and that I don't even know when a patient should be nil by mouth. 

Li Xiuying: "Black tea, 2 sugars. Thank you."

Jiang Huan left the room to go make tea.

Director Zhang: "Li Yu Yan has spoken a lot about you. I was surprised to find out that the famous Dr. Li Xiuying was her cousin and willing to do my surgery."

Li Xiuying: "I was coerced."

Director Zhang was confused: "Ah Yes?"
Don't people usually say "all good I hope?" or something along those lines. Coerced?

Li Xiuying: "I will be performing a total knee arthroplasty on your right knee due to the osteoarthritic changes.  I know you've had a history taken, examination and X-ray of your knee earlier this week as arranged by my PA."

Director Zhang: "Yes I came in on Wednesday."

Li Xiuying: "I would personally like to take a history and do an examination today, to confirm the findings. But before that I have something to discuss."

Director Zhang nodded. "Is it about Li Yu Yan's admission?"
Li Yu Yan had explicitly stated to him that Dr. Li would only agreed to do his surgery, if she was granted admission into medical school.

Li Xiuying: "Li Yu Yan informed me that you would be willing to accept her onto the accelerated medical programme?"

Director Zhang: "She meets the grade requirements and she has various extra-circular activities and work experience we look for in a well rounded student. If you were to provide a reference it would be the final push she needed to allow her in."

What director Zhang actually meant but didn't say: Li Yu Yan is actually way below the grade requirement for the accelerated programme. She is lacking clinical experience and her extra-curricular activities are limited. We're only willing to bend the rules because she has a connection to the world renowned Dr. Li. 

Li Xiuying: "I want her to be admitted to the normal programme. I don't want her to be treated differently from anyone else. I won't be supporting her."

Director Zhang: "Ah well erm.. yes."
Li Yu Yan told informed me that she was so close to Dr. Li that they were more like sisters than cousins. It seems she lied to me.

Li Xiuying: "Northwest University's medical programme is the most oversubscribed in the country. The normal 5 year programme has an application to places ratio of 85:1, the accelerated programme 116:1, I don't want someone to be given a place by using my name."

Director Zhang nodded.
Dr. Li clearly wanted the admission process to be as fair as possible. And Li Yu Yan's grades just about meet the requirements for the normal programme. 

Li Xiuying: "She probably assured you that I would be willing to conduct lectures and teaching sessions for free, I won't. You'll have to contact my PA to check my availability and pay my usual fee."

Director Zhang: "Your uncle also.."

Li Xiuying: "I didn't realise my time was so cheap?"

Director Zhang stuttered: "I wasn't trying to imply your time was cheap. I was just led to believe that you would be willing to help your cousin and the University."

Li Xiuying: "I didn't receive a notification stating that I owed my cousin or Northwest University anything."

Director Zhang. "..."
I'll have to have a talk to that lying duo; Li Yu Yan and Li Wang. how dare they lead me to believe their lies resulting in me being humiliated!

Director Zhang hopelessly spoke: "Regarding my surgery fees, Li Yu Yan mentioned that..."

Li Xiuying: "You'll have to pay for my time. 100k every 5 minutes cheque or cash. All other costs will be covered by me."

Director Zhang left his anger for the Li family to one side: "Thank you Dr. Li I appreciate you making the time for my surgery."

Director Zhang comforted himself. "I should be grateful that Dr. Li is even willing to do my surgery considering it was on Li Yu Yan's request, there's clearly no love lost between her and her family. I can teach Li Yu Yan a lesson later for lying to me. Without Dr. Li's backing, Li Yu Yan is just another medical student and she's only a mediocre one at best.'

Li Xiuying: "Let's begin, I have a few questions I would like to ask about your knee."

Li Xiuying is the youngest surgeon the world has ever seen. 

Once upon a time, her work had meaning; to save lives. But soon surgery lost all of its meaning to her, she became an operating machine. She didn’t even meet the patient until they were unconscious on her surgical table like a piece of meat waiting to be carved.

"Yes, of course I am familiar. These days I was frequently asked for hunting in the valley, the beasts were too many. From your question, I think you might know why, is there any reason behind it ?", Qin Yu asked Lan Yue as she remembered about the increasing beast activities in the valley for the past few weeks. 
 She joined a hunters gang when she went to greenwood valley for medicinal  and spirit herbs. She accompanied the gang few times and observed the forest, even the day before she went into the forest, she knew that the beasts in the forest are more active than before.

"Yes, Qin Jia. It's because of this matter that I came to Greenwood city this time. Not only me, a few of my senior brothers too are coming for this matter. 
Actually, Qin Jia you might have heard of spotted fire grass ?", Lan Yue asked him.

"Yes I do know it. That's a fire elemental 3rd grade spirit grass. Even I collected a few strands of them yesterday. Does it have anything to do with your business here in Greenwood city?", Qin Yu asked Lan Yue in confusion. For a 3rd grade spirit grass she doesn't care about. But if a 3rd grade spirit grass starts growing in the forest then there's definitely a possibility for the increase in beasts activities. 

"Spotted fire grass, haa.. spotted fire grass.. Oh, so is this the time when the fruit ripens?", Liu Ye asked Lan Yue from the side. He is sure about what's happening but still he has to ask her. With his experience, he sure knows about these plants and herbs.

"Oh! Liu Ye, you know about the fruits?", Lan Yue asked Liu Ye in surprise. she didn't thought Liu Ye to figure out the matter.

"aaa.. I run a herbs shop!", Liu Ye said with a wide smile. 

" oh yes, right. It's natural you know about them", Lan Yue smiled at him, she thought running a herbs selling business, Liu Ye must have known about them.

"Then Qin Jia you should have heard about Flame baby fruits?", seeing that Qin Jia hasn't figured out, Lan Yue asked him.

"Flame baby fruits, those small fruits slightly in the shape of a baby fist! Those are fire elemental 5th grade spirit fruits, Did you came here for them?", Qin Yu immediately asked her as her eyes brighten. She's a fire elemental cultivator and a 5th grade rare spirit fruit like Flame baby fruit can still help her. 

"Yes, our sect sent us here to collect them", Lan Yue replied him.

"Is this matter not known to others? I haven't heard about it from public and from my hunting gang", a 5th grade spirit fruit moreover a rare one amongst them, she hasn't heard people speaking about it in her gang yesterday and the public aren't discussing about it too, it felt strange to her.

"Looks like you only heard about it and don't know much about Flame baby fruit. It takes between 130-150 years for Flame baby fruit to ripen. So common people here doesn't much about it and you also joined a seemingly weak hunting gang, so they might not know. This matter is recorded in many big clans, sects and higher authority records. Only during the few days before the fruit ripens this matter spreads and later it people forget about it", Lan Yue said to Qin Jia.

"okay. So how do you reach the tree, do you have map about where the tree is and  how does other people reach the tree ?", Qin Yu asked Lan Yue, when she learnt many other people might search for the fruit too.

"Yes, we do have one, others might have too. some people follow the spotted fire grass and reach the tree", Lan Yue said to Qin Jia about the way to reach the tree.

"Oh, okay", Qin Yu said to her. 

"So, Qin Jia, I want to ask if you are interested to join us", Lan Yue immediately asked him. She saw Qin Jia's strength when he saved her from a 5th level beast with a single slash of his sword. With Qin Jia's strength, he can join them and she can have plenty of time to spend with him.

"I can accompany, but we just got into trouble with the city lord and I can't leave him..", Qin Yu said as she turned to look at Liu Ye. Flame Baby fruit, she never took it, it's rare in her world too but not too rare as in this world. And she also consumed resources much rare than Flame Baby fruit. Now she needs to worry about Liu Ye's safety first. 

"This..", Lan Yue and Su Meifeng turned to look at Liu Ye.

"Hey, I want to join too", Liu ye saisd  as he looked at the three of them. 

He started cultivating at last and he wants to travel and enjoy the wilderness.

"But you are just a Body tempering 4th layer cultivator. We might deal with 5th level and possibly 6th level beasts too. How can you join us, Qin Jia can't look after you all the time", Lan Yue asked him. She doesn't know the true cultivation of Liu Ye but if he's really a 4th layer Body Tempering cultivator then this trip will be dangerous to Liu Ye. Liu Ye is a friend of her she can't just take him to a dangerous place.

"You can stay with our Su family?", Su Meifeng on the side immediately asked him.

"Yes, You can stay with the Su clan during this time", Lan Yue agreed with Su Meifeng as she looked at both Qin Jia and Liu Ye. Su clan is one of the biggest clan in Greenwood city and they can provide safety to Liu Ye there without worrying about any troubles from the city lord.

Qin Yu was thinking about Su Meifeng's solution.

"No, I want to join you. You don't have to worry about my safety. You can believe me if the situation is too dangerous I can escape.
Moreover it's better for me not to stay at Miss Su's family and trouble them ", Liu Ye said as he looked at the three of them seriously. He can escape easily with the systems help from dangerous situations.

And if he stays at Su clan and it's leaked, the rumours about him having relationship with Su Meifeng might intensify, while the powerful cultivator image he want to put forward in front of the city lord through the city guard could collapse.

"Okay, He can join us too, I think there's no problem", Qin Yu nodded her head, Liu Ye's an experienced person and they might not have to worry about them much.

"If you say so then it's okay", Lan Yue didn't objected again seeing both Qin Jia and Liu Ye decided. Su Meifeng was disappointed when Liu Ye said no.

"So when are we going?", Liu Ye asked Lan Yue.

I'm Halle. I'm a 14 year old 8th grader. I like to read romance, comedy, thriller, and nerdy novels. I absolutely love tea, especially Arizona Sweet Tea. I can eat peanut butter with anything and I like skateboarding. I live in a small town in the countryside. It's constantly raining, with occasional rain in the summertime. I have a large family that consists of 34 cousins on my dad's side of the family with three aunts and two uncles. My dad's mother has married seven times. She has been widowed and divorced. My grandfather was divorced by her because he was an alcoholic. She raised my father and his siblings with little money, in a small home. On my mother's side I have eight great aunts and uncles. My mother is an only child, my grandparents had divorced when she was still a minor. I have an older brother and my parents are still happily married. I have many pets consisting of chickens, horses, donkeys, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and goats. My family used to have a male cow but he was sold. Growing up my mother was often told that her dearest daughter had angelic features. I'm told that I was very well behaved besides me being the pickiest eater the world has ever seen with an OCD towards everything. During this year I have been told that I have an angelic smile and I have been reminded many times of how I have very small ears and long fingers. I've been told that it is impossible for anyone to hate me, since I am, and I quote "the nicest person on Earth." Just like any stereotypical girl, I like Starbucks, but I believe that besides this, I am not stereotypical. I can hardly say I wear makeup since the only thing I ever put on my face is mascara and lotion. I'm a pretty natural person, meaning I'm not planning to ever have plastic surgery and I rarely use facial masks. I don't wash my face with any special skin care treatment soaps or whatever girls use. I simply just wash my face with plain soap. I've been told by many people I have beautiful hair. People can even tell who I am without looking at my face since my hair is so 'unique'. I have curly hair that most girls would LOVE to have. You know how when you curl your hair it makes those perfect curls that look like the swirly slide on a playground, well that's what I have. My hair used to be bleach blonde. As I got older my hair darkened turning to light blonde, then dirty blonde, extremely dirty blonde, and now light brown. My hair was slow in growth since I can remember having hair. In 5th grade my hair went down to my hips. That's when I decided to cut six inches off in length. My hair has grown back, not as long as before but still pretty long. I never blow dry, straighten, or curl my hair, since I like to keep it 'natural'. I simply wash it with shampoo and conditioner then brush it normally after it air dries. Unlike the other teenagers of my age, I'm not the biggest fan of junk food. I used to ONLY eat junk food when I was younger, and my mom was just thankful that I ate any food at all since I was underweight and a picky eater. Eating junk food leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth. I occasionally have ramen, chocolate, and ice cream, but other than that I'm a pretty healthy eater. I participate in the sports of basketball, volleyball, soccer, and gymnastics. I'm a very quiet person and I tend to only speak when spoken to. I usually never initiate a conversation. I'm a straight A student in advanced Language Arts and Math classes and I have been recommended to be put in an advanced Chemistry class. I'm a massive animal lover, to the point where in my science class when we were observing deceased creatures in beakers, I noticed a deceased mouse and sparrow, leading to me hiding my tears for the majority of the period. When people have crushes on me they are usually normal but this year I've had either perverted or weird people with crushes on me. These same people have liked me for the past three years (since 6th grade). I have no interest AT ALL in being in a romantic relationship, yet I still wish that instead of perverted weirdos liking me that actual NORMAL people would seek my attention. You could say that I am a country girl since I do, in fact, own and use a lasso, cowgirl hat, cowgirl boots, and I ride horseback. In 6th grade I used to be obsessed with the thought of me being a country girl, and I would wear plaid flannels with bootcut jeans and my cowgirl boots. Everyday I wear the same sweatshirt and jeans, with the same black converse that I wear everyday. I will occasionally wear ripped jeans with a t-shirt and possibly gray vans. My best friend's mother had told her to stop dressing like a hoe, and I quote "should dress more like Adriana." Besides me having nice hair and nice facial features, my pleasant smelling self has added to my "perfect" image. I have been told countless times that I smell good, like pumpkin spice, and another best friend of mine's brother told me that I "smell good, like girl." I've also been told that I have a great personality and that I'm "weird" but a good weird "like a weird that makes people laugh and smile." I have so many things to brag about, like how when my family went to Alaska, my mother, grandmother, and I were leaving a gift shop and the woman at the front counter told my grandmother that "that girl has beautiful hair" which led to my granny proudly telling the woman "that's my granddaughter." Another perfect thing about me is that I like to play the piano and write poems. Some of the poems I have written consist of "My Thanksgiving Feast: 
Oh what a special day
When we feed the beasts
In our stomachs they lay
Oh what a special day
When we eat then sleep then chat away
In mountains, and fields my soul may lay
So that thy Lord shall take me away
To a place where colors have no gray
In the Fall with leaves and rain
Pumpkin pie and fields of hay
When Winter comes it's fields of snow
With presents and holly
Candy canes, cookies, and jolly
Then spring comes with yards to mow
Rain will fall and flowers will grow
Lilies and roses for Valentine's cheer
Spring will end and summer will join
With hot days at the lake and cousins who jeer
And celebrate the 4th of July and American tears
Then back to fall with spooks and scares
And after that we come back to this day
With turkey and thanks and a feast celebrate
Then again with a process, a cycle all year
And come back to this day once again next year.

I heard it's your birthday and I'm not one to be rude
So I wrote this poem and it's all about you
You have pretty blue eyes, brown hair, and white teeth
Your eyebrows are thick and your charisma is sweet
You're cool and you're kind and I can't find a rhyme
So happy birthday ___.

Even though I have all these "perfect" traits people still judge me on stupid things like how I write in cursive, "Why are you writing in cursive?" like it's a bad thing that I'm writing in cursive and I shouldn't do it because it's "weird." I also get other stupid comments about my handwriting like "You write your d's and g's weird." because when I write in print I use cursive y's and g's and my d's have always been like that. And people constantly reminding me of how I'm "too innocent and pure" really irritates me, and since I'm passive aggressive I won't tell people to back off and stop pointing out stupid little details about me. I never point out little details about them in prissy little tones so why do it to me. I used to be naive and make friends with everyone and talk to everyone, I never once thought "he's so weird" or "ugh he really irritates me" but these sly little comments people are trying to pass as "innocent opinions" are taking my kindhearted personality for granted. Why are you just now pointing these things out and why do you care? It's just how I am so stop judging me.

Instead of writing a novel I decided to talk about myself. Thinking about what to write gives me writer's block. And everything I think of is way too similar to other people's writing ideas. "Tomboy meets bad boy" "Gangsters little mistress" "New to town". Nothing is original enough in my head. I can't make a comic because I'm bad at drawing and I don't like drawing. I only like writing poetry and ever since the 4th grade I've really enjoyed writing short stories but this is a challenge. I have to write a 10 thousand to 20 thousand word novel and submit it within 10 days. I don't HAVE to write it, but I want the prize of 800 coins so I can read more of the novels I enjoy. Because if it's one thing I know, it's that I love to read. The stories that people create on webnovel are so creative and it just shows how talented these people are. These people have absolutely FANTASTIC ideas and I wish I at least had an OUNCE of their creativity. I know that when submitting an original novel I will only have the slightest chance of getting the prize of 800 coins. In this massive vast ocean of creativity I have a 1/1,000,000 chance of being noticed. And with that being said I still have hope that I'll be noticed by at least someone. The beginning of my speech massively talks about my perfection and is SO boring that even I would have no enjoyment in reading this. But at least one person on this earth is capable of liking this. And they would be an absolute maniac to do so. I mean like they must have some MASSIVE mental issues. But I actually enjoyed writing this, it brought out my frustrated and tired emotions I've been pushing down for the sake of people's feelings. I HATE hurting people's feelings. While writing I've also been listening to classic rock from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. I've also been drinking iced chai tea with Minecraft music playing in the background. Fun fact about me, I like video games. This could be a flaw in some eyes, but it could also be a good thing in others. I have a PS3, yes I know the "XbOx Is BeTtEr" but this is what I'm stuck with. I'm actually a tomboy and like playing Call of Duty Black OPS II and Minecraft, and since my old Xbox is at my grandma's house, when I visit her I play Tony Hawk skater games. In 5th grade I was at my greatest height of tomboyness. I wore basketball shorts and baggy t-shirts every day with my blue high top converse. And since most of the time it's cold where I live, I would wear athletic leggings under my shorts, and in 6th grade boys started to wear leggings under their shorts too. Everyday I would put my hair up into a ponytail and I'd always call people "bro" and "dude" and I even wore boxer briefs and stole my brother's clothes. The reason why I became a tomboy was because I looked up to my brother A LOT. I wanted to be just like him, even though I'm a girl. I didn't want to change my gender or be called a "guy", but I did want people to notice me as a tomboy. In 6th grade I was less of a tomboy and went to my country girl stage, mixing with the tomboy stage. In 7th grade I became somewhat "normal" and would wear ripped jeans and sweatshirts just like the other girls. I even started wearing mascara. That same year I started to develop a "thing" for redheads, and to this day I'm still into redheads. I mean their hair is so unique and their eyelashes aren't BROWN OR BLACK AND IT"S AMAZING. Which brings me to my "crush" list. In 7th grade I decided to write down all of my crushes and say what I liked about them. All of them were athletic and cute so you could tell my "type."
1st: "I have a crush on P. He's tall, thin, cute, handsome, and I THINK he's nice and funny, plus he's a football player. In a game of capture the flag P got tagged by the other team, so I ran over to tag him back into the game, but I ran into S and got tagged. Someone (I can't remember who) tagged me back in and I tagged P in right away. Out of all my three crushes (note: why the freak did I have three crushes at once, what was wrong with me???) he's second best. P is also dating my friend J though… so that's weird/awkward. She doesn't know though.
2nd: "T is someone I a tiny bit like. He's nice, funny?, sweet and if he was fit (no offence) (note: DANG I was judgmental, one again, what was wrong with me???) he'd be cute, plus he's a football player. I sit next to T in honors ELA and was partnered with him in Technology in the 6th grade. He once for a little while said and told people that I told him to "go drink bleach and die in a hole," (note: what the freak, why is everything in this book weird) which I never actually told him to do, or even thought of it. I think he was imagining things or mistaken me for someone else who told him that. I think he's gotten over that now. He likes to spread the rumor that he has a crush on me, but I know that he will never actually like me. T does wrestling too, but I now only like him as a 'friend'." (Note: he's actually one of my best friends now and he's pretty darn awesome.)
3rd: "E is my ultimate crush. He's nice, sweet, funny, handsome, cute , has dimples, and thinks I'm pretty (note: oh my gosh this entire page is filled with things about him). He's a freshman and I'm only a 7th grader, but I just can't help but like him, like A LOT. Sometimes I have dreams with him in them and I also daydream about him all the time. He kept looking at me in Silverwood (note: that's because you kept staring at him without knowing it you naive girl), but I think that's just because of my indents (note: my indents are the scars I have from when I got molluscum contagiosum, a sickness you get from other little kids). He's good friends with G. E goes to a preparatory school or private school (either one I can't remember)(note:he doesn't; he just goes to a different school than me). He's amazing. When I was in line to go on Aftershock for the first time I was scared and worried but he helped me feel better. The second time I went on Aftershock (on the same day) K went on with me and G wouldn't give up him and E's inner seats but E did. He's so incredible! 
4th: "C has been my friend since we were little kids (I think preschool). He's funny and nice. I think our friendship is one sided. He's one of my best GUY friends. But I think I'm just some annoying girl to him (note: SIGGGHHHH). I like to tease him and do things like punch him in the shoulder (note: no wonder he thinks I'm annoying, gosh). I don't punch him anymore though because I know he doesn't like it (note: DUH). C is a football player and plays video games (which is a plus). His mom likes me. She even asked me to punch him on time.
5th: "H is SO, SO, SO cute. He's not as cute as E but, you know. H is tall and fit (note: no he's not he's chubby). He always wears these camouflage sweatpants. He's SO cool. He has the BEST fake British accent  EVER. Every time he does the accent I fall even more for him. Every time I look at the clock I see from the corner of my eye him making a funny face to me (note: that's because he liked me and so did some other kid in our class). He's nice to me. In gym class whenever I fail to do something he tells me it's alright and, in my mind, supports me. I really like him. But not as much as I like E.

As you can see I was boy crazy.

I remember when I was seven and my mother confessed to me she had a lover.

Of course, I had no idea what that meant and just silently comforted her with a hug.

Ten years later I faced the consequence of my mistake.

The whole family had found out. 

And I remember just standing there dumbfounded while my grandmother kept bawling and my two aunts comforting her. 

Nobody blamed me.

They said it wasn't my fault.

I was too young to have known my mistake.

Instead they blamed my mother.

Who, after my family found out her scandal, started living alone in the house where we used to live as a family.

And me, with my younger sister and father, moved into the house where my extended paternal family lived.

That particular day left me guilty.

So much that it still keeps haunting me.

Of course, I never told anyone.

I couldn't stand the sight of people giving me pity or comfort. Their stares made me feel small and helpless. 

And I...

wanted to be free of those stares.

I was ten when I had found my first little crush. 

He was the smartest guy in our grade and was hopelessly childish.

I couldn't help but compete with him over everything. 

Exams, quizzes, activities, group projects.

And I failed miserably every time.

Then the whole class found out and I was teased for it. 

I, who at the time was too busy studying, didn't really care and continued to like him freely.

In the next grade, I had confessed to him.

I was rejected.

I expected it of course, but I still liked him so much.

There was even a time I kept crying because of him.

When our grade separated during senior high, he had suddenly confessed to me.

And me, being stupid, accepted his confession.

For the first few months, everything was fine.

But after that was a never ending cycle of fights.

I got sick of it.

So I confronted him and told him how I really felt.

After that we never contacted each other again.

I liked him for six years.

Ten years later I haven't found anyone yet. 

Maybe I still like him.

I'm not sure yet.

I was ten years old when I told myself that I would like to be an author.

I hadn't exactly found my purpose yet.

So I started writing on my phone in the hopes I could improve my writing.

In the midst of high-school I lost my will to write.

I wasn't exactly sure of the cause.

Maybe it was my family.

Or my studies.

Or maybe I had given up on myself.

But halfway through college, I met my professor.

I became fond of her and wanted to be like her.

Before I knew it I started to write again.

Sure it was silly and my writing had much to improve on but...

I felt happy.

And I had found my purpose.

Jiang Shan prefers to be left alone, leaving her with fewer friends than her peers.

After starting senior year, she is determined to spend her days at home to think about her plans for the future.

The strained relationship with her family, her unstable mental health, a complicated relationship with a boy, playing her part in the student council, and studying for the coming entrance exams.

All of this had been managed to be swept up in a storm called Yang Mu.

Ending our Messenger conversation, Kanzaki told me that she'll message me when she decides when we will start. I can only tell her to take her time. I'm kinda occupied eh.


When the bell rang indicating the end of classes. Most students stayed since some of them will go to their respective clubs, tryouts or not. Even then there's still a number of them going straight at home. They are those who are like me. If not for Kana, I wouldn't try that Literature Club. Well, since I already told them, I have no choice but to go. I'm the Classmate A. If I join the Go-home club, I will probably fade out. Being in a club can maintain my presence even if just a bit.


Well if this Literature Club can prove to be a laid back one, I don't mind signing up plus there's Kana and possibly Ishida-senpai too. I still don't know who's the 4th member, is it a guy or a girl? Hopefully, a girl who's dating someone of course.


I said goodbye to my neighbours. Sakuma joined the Soccer Club, I didn't know he's an athlete. Maybe that's why he's like an idiot. His brain is just full of soccer. Well, he clearly likes Maemura even if he doesn't say it. Anyone with a little observational skill can guess that.


Maemura joined the Basketball Club. Because of her long legs, she's tall enough to become a Center on a Girl's Basketball Team. If I compare my height with her, uhm she's a few centimetres taller. I can only expect what she wanted help for later at night.


Rindou. I don't know which club she joined. She looks like someone who's immersed in reading books. Is she joining the Literature Club too? It will be harder for me to move if she's there. Anyway, since I now consider myself as her friend, I'll help her.


"What club did you join in?" asks Sakuma.


"I don't know yet? I'm trying out the Literature Club today."


"Wow. Onoda. You. Literature? Really?


What the hell? What's that about Maemura?


"What? I know, I'm just trying out. Honestly, I only want a laid back club, whichever it is as long as I can relax then it's fine."


"Heh. What's that? Sounds like someone's just lazy."


"It doesn't just sound like. I am lazy."


"Ugh. Shoo shoo Onoda. Don't project your laziness aura on us."


This Maemura is getting cheeky. Wait until I train you to my liking. I'll have you play Basketball after one round with me. Well, getting you two together comes first. It's not exciting without that.


"Then you can join the Book Club with me."


Rindou said. So there's also a Book Club. Do they just read books as a club activity? 


"Okay. If Literature isn't that laidback, I'll try your club too."


I don't know, her eyes hidden by her bangs seemed to sparkle when I said that. Is it a happy occasion having me try out your club?


"Okay, see you, tomorrow guys. I'll go on ahead." Sakuma said, he had already changed into his soccer uniform. He's prepared eh.


"Yes. See you tomorrow." Maemura too, following behind Sakuma. Unlike him, she's going to change at her club room.


"See you tomorrow Onoda." Rindou smiled. That's rare.


"Yeah see you Rindou." I smiled back at her.


After packing my things, I went straight to the Club Building. Since I already went there earlier this morning, I didn't lose my way.


I knocked three times at the clubroom door before someone opened it.


Oh. This is a new face. The 4th club member? Another girl. Though she's not as cute as my Kana, she has her charms. If Kana is Cute and Shy type, this girl is the Curious type of girl. Just the sparkle on her eyes says it. She's clearly curious towards me.


Well, I'm just a Classmate A. I'm more or less ordinary if you take out my secret desire for stealing girls.


"Hello. Are you that 1st year who came to try out our club?"


"Yes. I'm Onoda Ruki."


"Oh. Welcome, Onoda-kun. I'm 2nd year Otsuka Karen."


She held out her hands.

I also put my hand in front and shake her hands.


"Oh? Is that Onoda-kun? Come in, come in."


From inside, I heard Ishida-senpai's voice.


Otsuka-senpai pulled me in and closed the door.


Looking at this room now full of people, it looks lively enough. Unlike this morning where there's only me and Kana. But I prefer that silence. Especially if it's with her. We can do something again.


I already knew that the club has 4 members.

Ah. There's another 1st year like me. So they got an official member earlier?


I look at the unfamiliar girl. She's wearing glasses but unlike Kanzaki, she's not a Class President type. She's more of a nerdy type. She's one of those who take in a lot of knowledge from books. Everyday for them is filled with books. Why is she here and not at the Book Club?


"Ah. Onoda-kun. You haven't met her yet. She's a new member we got earlier. A fellow 1st year." Ishida-senpai introduced the girl.


Seemingly uninterested, she only looks at me for a bit then her focus turns back to the paper at her hands. That's the same paper I was reading earlier. An anthology piece made by the previous club members.

I'm right once again. She is the nerdy type who can get grumpy once someone interrupts their intake of knowledge.


Kana and Kenji are on the other end of the table. Kenji is busy reading and writing something. Kana, on the other hand, is waving her cute hand at me. I waved back and smiled.


That's enough for now. I still remember Ishida-senpai's suspicious gaze earlier. If we did more she might catch onto us.


"Ah sorry. She's engrossed in that piece. She's Fujii Mirae, Class 4."


I see. She's far away from our classroom. Which explains I haven't seen her before. Her character type attributed a lot as to why though. She's probably a stay-in at their room or library.


"Hey, Onoda-kun, why did you decide to try out our club. Could it be that you're interested in our Kana? I saw you guys smiling at each other." Otsuka-senpai interjected from behind.


Really a Curious type. She's someone who keeps on asking questions to satisfy her curiosity.


"Ah. You're not there earlier Karen. Kana showed him our clubroom. In fact, he doesn't want to try our club. I forced him." Ishida-senpai answered on behalf of me.


"Ah, that's why. You got desperate thinking I won't be able to get one to save our club."


"Ehehe. Treat him as a spare. Isn't this better? We'll be above the minimum and we can do more activities with 6 people."


Right, I've read that on the handbook. There's a rule to have a minimum of 5 members to maintain the club for the school year. But senpai, it's rude to call me a spare okay. Don't you think I might be hurt by your words?


"Uhm. So what should I do? What does the club do for club activities?"


"Ah, I knew you would ask Onoda-kun. Here."


Otsuka-senpai ran in front of me, on her hands is a bowl that's full of folded paper.


"What's that?"


"Stop asking, just pick one."


Hmm? Okay. I think I already have an idea as to what this is.


I put my hand inside the bowl and took one paper.


"Gimme." Otsuka-senpai snatched it on my hands and read what's on it.


"Okay, Onoda-kun. For your tryout, you have to…"


"Hmm. Write a short story surrounding the prompt word Color." Ishida-senpai spoiled Otsuka-senpai's fun.


"Argh senpai! Why do you have to go and read it on your own? Now it loses a dramatic effect."


"Look, Karen. Stop scaring our juniors. Did you forget last year? Because of your excessive curiosity, 3 members quit our club."


Hearing that, Otsuka-senpai turned downcast. It looks like that was true and she still feels guilt at what happened.


"Short story and colour? Okay, senpai. I'll try it."


I answered to cheer up this curious girl a bit. It's not a bad trait to have that much curiosity. In fact, I welcome it. I just wonder if she's dating someone. If she did, she probably already tried having sex because of her curiosity. Or there's also the possibility of her curiosity on sex was transferred to other things which can explain this excessive curiosity mass on her.


"Really? Good luck then Onoda-kun. You can sit there." Otsuka-senpai already regained a bit of sparkle in her eyes. 


I followed the direction she's pointing at and saw that it's beside the couple Kenji and Kana.


She probably considered that Kana guided me earlier.


"You can ask anyone if there's something troubling you but I recommend to ask Kana-senpai. In terms of advising at our work, she's the best. You can see her advising Goto-senpai there. Just be careful. That senpai is pretty possessive of Kana-senpai." Otsuka-senpai continued.


Oh? she can be a good adviser as well didn't she? Ah. She's mindful of what Ishida-senpai said.


I followed her and took the seat next to Kana. Kenji guy is still busy at what he's doing. I'm not curious nor even interested in what it is so I won't ask. Kana was listening to us so she knew I'm coming. I can see her fidgeting a bit. I wonder what's in your head right now?


Oh well. Let's try writing first. I went for the tryout so I should at least act to accomplish it. I don't know if I'm good at creating a piece but being given a word prompt, my mind started churning out a bunch of ideas.


Ideas though. If I can't write it on my paper then it's useless. Colour, colour.


"I heard your word prompt Ruki-kun, you don't have to write hastily. Sort it out first and pick 3 ideas you think is best."


Kana's cute voice sounded on my ears. She's giving me advice. Otsuka-senpai's right, she gives the best advice. I don't know this side of Kana. For 3 days, I only know her erotic side. Those lips, her tongue, her nipples and her slightly big chest and her most sacred place. I savour them all. Seeing a different side of the girl I stole is a new experience.

Time passed quietly at the club room. Every one of us is either writing or reading something. Kana's voice can be heard from time to time as well. Giving advice to those writing a literature piece.


And between the silence, nobody knew that below the table, I'm holding Kana's hand tightly. Yes there's still the excitement I'm feeling from the idea of his boyfriend being there but most of all there's a new sensation I'm feeling just by holding her hand. It felt different. I can't describe it in words but I don't hate it. I'm not falling in love. I know. I can't. I'm someone who can't feel that. At least this feeling is what I can call as comfortable. Being next to this girl I stole and holding her hand without anyone knowing is somewhat comfortable and it excites me as well. I don't want to dwell more on that feeling. It's new, yes, but I can't really call it as overwhelming. I still want to own Kana's body, making her only long for me. I don't need her heart.


I let go of her hand when I finished my paper. Kana nodded at me. Well, she can't leave her boyfriend's side. I pick up my paper and give it to Ishida-senpai.


"Well then, I'm going now. Thanks for the experience."


"Ah wait Onoda-kun. You can't decide yet?"


Ishida-senpai, seeing me walk to the door hold off at reading what I wrote.


"I'll have to do some thinking first, senpai. Anyway, I can tell honestly that I enjoy the experience."


Yeah. Not just the writing. The experience of being with Kana right there is what I truly enjoy the most.


"Okay then. See you Onoda-kun."


"Yes. See you senpai."


I greeted them all goodbye. Even the still busy Kenji and that nerdy Fujii.


I only reached the stairs when I heard Ishida-senpai's shouts from the clubroom.


"Argh! What is this? What the hell is this? Red panties, Blue panties, Green panties. What the hell did you write, Onoda!!"


Ahh. I can't really think of anything and that's the best I can come up to. Luckily, I hurriedly took off. It's dangerous for me to stay there.


When I reach the school gate. I took out my phone and sent a mail to Kana.

Onoda Ruki is just your ordinary high school student. He strived for being the Classmate A who's unimportant to the story.

Seely was trying to sleep when... 


"We've finally arrived, the Death Beach!"

Can't a growing healthy boy get any sleep here!?  

Seely complained in his heart. 


The sleeping Angelo opened his eyes and looked at Leylin, "We've reached our destination!"

Wait.. what? We're here!? ...Oh hohoho Merry Christmas... for meeeee. 

Seely was excited for his simple yet brilliant plan. 



As they neared the sea, a small town-like place appeared at the end of his line of sight.

Numerous tents of various shapes and sizes stood together, and they formed a huge camp. Surrounding them were dozens of carriages similar to the one Leylin was driving.

And what numbered the most were acolytes of similar ages as them, around thirteen to fourteen years old, each and every one of them carrying looks of curiosity on their faces. Leylin did a rough estimate and counted that there were at least hundreds of them, filling up the entire camp, just like his brother said. 


From time to time, some acolytes walked out from the tents, many different expressions adorning their faces.

"Alright! Ladies and gentlemen! We all had a very... unpleasant experience but you're here. Welcome to the intermediate stop of our travelling destination, the Death Beach! You will all decide on your future academy here, and then return back to your respective academies with your teachers to practice magic!"

Hmmm.. That second sentence wasn't supposed to be there. I guess he must be really upset about losing those crystals. 
Seely shamelessly pointed out after noticing the difference using the chapter. 


The horse carriage halted, and three white robes came out and gathered the acolytes, then the leader Crow began speaking.

"Now, follow me into the campgrounds, and choose an academy. Remember, you may check on all the various academies, but once you have signed a contract to join one, you must not renege! Anyone who disobeys will be hung to death at the gate of the camp!"

Crow's frosty words made the acolytes hearts turn cold.

"Haha! Crow! You guys are pretty late today!" A voice sounded, and a fatty walked out from the camp grounds. He too was wearing a white robe, and he greeted: "Don't scare these adorable newbies!"

"There were some difficulties along the way!" Crow explained.

"Alright! Newbies! Now follow me into the camp!" Fatty spoke with Crow and the others for a while more, then turned his head and shouted to Leylin and the rest.

"You guys can call me Jevon, of the beautiful Ennea Ivory Ring Tower. Trust me, if you are to choose an academy, the Ennea Ivory Ring Tower is definitely your best choice!"

Jevon said as he brought the acolytes into the camp.

Once they entered, various sounds travelled into their ears, reminding Leylin of the marketplaces in his previous world. Leylin could also see Seely acting like a person eager to shop all day. 

'Seely,  calm yourself. We're not here to buy things.'

'Huh? What? Buy things? I would never hehehe'

'Who are you fooling? You're face show otherwise.'

'Its the truth brother. Don't worry I won't waste our magic crystals.' This brilliant and lovable brother of yours wouldn't even think of using magic crystals to buy something. Rather... I'm here to earn hundred Hahahaha *evil laugh*

Somehow Leylin felt cold and shivered a little. 

'What's this brother of mine up to again?'

'I won't embarrass you so stop it. I'm just excited to get our aptitudes and elemental affinity tested.' That's a half-truth though since I already know my aptitude but I am excited to learn about my elemental affinities.'

'You're right... This a pretty big deal for us.'


As for Crow and the other two white robes, they seemed to have something else to do, and they soon left the group.

The surroundings were bustling with activity, mostly due to acolytes just like them. Some of them had gathered in a circle, while there were others who were entering or exiting the tents.

Jevon brought Leylin and the rest, a total of 29 odd people, into the middle of the camp grounds.

Here, was a large tent of pure white colour, and there were still strange flower patterns on the outside of it They seemed like both ornaments, and yet resembled writing as well.

Leylin could not help but look at it closely, "A.I Chip! Begin Scan!"

[Beep! Forming Image!] The A.I Chip sent the information, but in the constructed image, there was nothing on the white tent, as if the pattern had never existed before.
"How could this be?" Leylin stared at the tent once again with disbelief.

With every passing minute and second, the patterns on the tent seemed lifelike, constantly twisting itself.

"Hehe!" "Haha!" "Ji Ji!"

Various noises travelled to Leylin's ears. The surrounding lights seemed to distort itself, and Leylin looked at his own hands. At this point, his arm seemed to have been pulled into a long shape, which looked extremely slender.

*Slap* "Oh sorry brother, you have a mosquito on your face." puhaha-... Hold it in Seely. You only did this because you already knew using the chapter that this was gonna happen. Still it's really funny to slap him back to reality hahaha. 

Leylin's whole body suddenly quivered, and he came to his senses. Looking at the surroundings, the acolytes were still listening to Fatty Jevon's speech, and everything seemed to revert back to its normal state.

'Leylin, you okay? I felt something wrong and saw you there blankly staring at something.'

'Yeah thanks. I think I was in an illusion.' 

'Oh... okay. Then just be more careful from now on alright.' I don't want to dragged this on any longer. Its enough to wake him up earlier than the original timeline. 


"Could it be that it wasn't an illusion earlier?" Leylin got scared, "A.I Chip, reproduce the situation I was in earlier!"

[Beep!] A pale blue light display appeared, and the series of images earlier appeared continuously in front of Leylin's eyes, [An anomaly in the cerebral vessel, an immediate inspection is proposed!] [An anomaly is found in the Host's condition! Staying away is advised!] [The Host body has returned to normal!] Numerous lines of data kept emerging, which let Leylin know that it was not an illusion earlier.

"Phew...Magi, are they always this mysterious?" Leylin wiped his cold sweat off, still carrying a lingering fear of the events earlier.

'Yep, they are.' Seely commented. 

Where did Jevon stop at?" Leylin hurriedly asked. 

"Oh! We need to fill in a form, and take the aptitude test! And then it will be free time, and we can choose our academy autonomously!"

"Because you guys have come a day late, you only have a day's worth of time left, and in this span of period, you must choose an academy where you will practice magic in, if not you will have to wait until next year!" Jevon was still speaking loudly ahead of them.

Now, all of you line up and take the form from me one by one, and then enter for the test!"

Jevon sat behind a white table, and took out a stack of forms and placed them down.

The line moved forward quickly, and very soon it was Leylin's turn. 

'Good Luck Brother!'

'Yeah you too Seely.'

I can tell he's nervous. How about me.. Am I Nervous?... Do I even have an elemental affinity? 

No, don't think about negative thoughts. If Leylin who came from another futuristic version of earth has elemental affinities then I'm sure I'll have one too...probably? 


"Fill in your particulars in this form, and then enter the tent and follow the instructions of the person inside!" a guide said.

Leylin took the form and realised that it was made of sheepskin paper. The particulars required were minimal, only a name, age and location born, as well as a few others.

Picking up the goose feather pen on the table, Leylin filled in the form very quickly.

The faint, red coloured, inked flower patterns on the sheepskin seemed to be very beautiful.

"I never thought that this brat's handwriting from the mainland is still pretty good!" After Leylin finished writing, he picked up the sheepskin paper and entered the white tent.


"Come over!" An ancient voice sounded.

It was very spacious inside the tent, and there was only a white-haired old lady sitting on a black chair and a crystal ball which rested on a table.

'Okay! Why would I suddenly think of those divination witches!'

"Hello!" Leylin greeted the witch.

"Bring the form here!" Clearly, this witch was not having any of it, and her voice was still frosty cold.

"Leylin huh? Place your hands on the crystal ball!"

Hmmm... He must be already at the witch's hand. I mean... getting his aptitude tested. Now let's see the details of this chapter.

Leylin followed the witch's instructions and placed both of his hands on the crystal ball.

Icy cold! Vibrations!

A strange tactile feeling was transmitted from the tip of his fingers.

Leylin's head hurt as if there was a glass rod stirring inside.

Along with the start of his headache, the crystal ball in front of Leylin also emitted a faint glow.

"Very good! Don't let go! The witch stared attentively at the crystal ball.

As the pain increased, the crystal ball in Leylin's hands also grew brighter, "No! No more!"

Leylin clenched his teeth, and the pain that practically split his brain into two caused him to loosen his grip uncontrollably.

"Okay! So you are at this level?" The witch nodded her head. She took out a goose feather pen and scribbled on Leylin's form.

"We have categorised the aptitude of the acolytes into five grades, with the first grade as the worst and the fifth grade as the best. You are in the third grade, a middle ranked grade!"

The witch said as she turned a ring on her hand and made a strange mark on the sheepskin, which had been shining brightly with light.

"My examination here is over, you go on behind me! Next!"

Seeing his brother entering the tent, Leylin nodded to him, took the sheepskin paper, stood up and gave his thanks, and then lifted the hanging curtain of the tent, heading to the next procedure in line.

The area was still as spacious as the one earlier, and in the middle, there was a white bearded old geezer.

The old geezer knocked on the tabletop and it split open, and a black basin rose from the centre.

This water basin was not smooth. It seemed to be made of stone, and there was a kind of liquid metal flowing inside that resembled mercury.

"Carefully look into the water!" The old geezer's voice sounded, seemingly carrying an authoritative tone.

Leylin could not help but to divert all his attention towards the centre of the water basin. With his constant focus, the mercury in the middle swirled continuously and turned into a whirlpool, as if a mouth had opened at the bottom.

"Now, tell me, what do you see?"

Leylin's eyes were a little glazed over, "Shadows, and a black coloured whirlpool! And there are red spots near the outer circumference!"

"Anything else?"

"There are also green specks of light in the surrounding area!"

"Is there a lot of green?"

"Not at all! Very little!"

"Okay!" The old geezer snapped his fingers, and Leylin suddenly came back to his senses, "What happened to me!"

This is a fan-fic about the "Warlock of the Magus World" I wasn't sure in the past if i were only going to include this. I was actually avoiding telling people but my doubts had been clear. Also to satisfy my desire on making other fan-fics, I already made a part 2 of this with a slightly different title with of course a different fan fic but slightly connected to this one.

The three of them had been learning directly from their masters while Long Bai had only relied on the library to increase his knowledge.

Although it was a small position, Long Bai was satisfied with it compared to being stationed at the outer courts to work with hard labor. Another ups for Long Bai was that everything he learns about medicine is being added into the system. It was as if the system creates an archive of information and sorts it automatically for easy access. Long Bai thought that maybe he would also be able to create pills in the future. For now, since the start of his stay, he had been collecting information from books about spiritual herbs and pill formula as he try to steal glances on his senior's pill creation. 

Right now, Long Bai is satisfied with his cultivation results. It was a five day worth of cultivation and he was able to reach the middle layer (4th). At the same time, his essence core has also progressed. If he was still outside, it might take him a month where resources are scarce. If outer disciples receives ten red essence shards a week, inner disciples must be receiving more aside from the personal teaching of their master. The last time Long Bai checked his status, the Cultivation Base was labeled with "none" but after the construction of his essence, there was the notice of being constructed in progress. According to his senior sister who works at the alchemy house, Cultivation Bases are the foundational techniques that a cultivator uses to cultivate. Some cultivation bases were focused on learning the sword like the Sword Heart Mantra that the sect leader is using. Upon cultivating it, the world essence is absorbed and transformed into a sword's characteristics which takes forms depending on the person's talent. Other cultivation bases focus on the elements just like the Lotus Flame Heart that utilizes the fire essence. If a person cultivates an elemental based cultivation, that person will be immune to that specific element however, he can only efficiently absorb that element's essence to further his cultivation. If that person absorbs the world essence instead, the efficiency goes down and the growth will be slow. Some other cultivation that his senior sister enumerated were the Ghost Manipulation technique that is deemed evil by most sects and another one is the Golden Ape Body that is practiced by Body Cultivators. Without a cultivation base, the rate of cultivation is slower compared to someone who practices one. It was like a manual that teaches a person how to manipulate the essence into their body for their benefit. However even if a person has a good core grade, it would become meaningless without an abundant resources. Taking the essence in a normal surrounding would not be enough for a cultivator who aims for a higher level.

Once approved, then a badge with carved number in it is given to the person.

These herbs were picked by some outer disciples while Long Bai is responsible for preparing them. As a medicine boy, Long Bai reaps a small benefit from it. After the spiritual herbs are used by her senior sister, she allows him to use the left over dregs for practice. Although the amount of essence is already almost used up, this was not a concern to Bai since what he aims is to register information to the system as much as possible. The little essence present is utilized for a one-time practice and at the same time, he can increase the efficiency little by little. 

For an alchemist to create a pill, the ingredients and the amount of temperature must be memorized. Writing it in a memo is also a choice but such methods could only bring a huge disadvantage. Pill recipes on written papers can be stolen and be claimed by another people. Since there are no copyright laws, a person must take effort in keeping records. Although this is true, common pill recipes are still present and are available to the general populace. Even a person knows the recipe, that person won't be able to create the pill without the materials, the equipments and the necessary skills. This is true to grade 1,2 and some grade three pills.

8th grade year was pretty slow in the beginning. I made the basketball team and I also got into honor band which is pretty hard to do. I also liked this year because I got to try new things and have new classes. One class that wasn't the best was history because there was one girl in that class that didn't like me. Most girls on the basketball team didn't like me for reasons I never figured out. They never passed the ball to me and my coach also didn't like me because I didn't have to pay for any of my basketball fees. My counselor paid for all my fees along with another parent of a basketball teammate. I had fun at all competitions from band and cross country all the way to basketball. Over the year I became really close friends with Kaitlynn and I had my first sleepover with her. We both learned how different we were but also how well we went together. 
  I had some good times during this year going to my first school dance with a group of my sports friends. The last dance I went to was my 8th grade dance and I went with one of my band friends because he asked me to go with him. The dance pretty much was screaming to music and no dancing. Our group of friends just took a bunch of photos together and goofed off in them. 
  After the dance we were planning our graduation and our last days of middle school. We got our year books ready and was writing each other notes people were just all over the place. The band got to go to six flags before we graduated. When I was looking for my dress I wanted to look cute because I was more of a tomboy growing up and it was one of the first times I wanted to look really cute and show off a bit. After I got my dress the next day was the last day of school and all of us were just ready to leave that place as fast as we could. Summer was calling us and all we wanted to do was to go for it. I wanted to sleep in for once because my dad worked I got to school at 6am. So that was the last day to wake up that early for awhile. The bell rang and everyone went running and I went to cross country. After that I took an ice bath at home and went to bed early to be ready for my 8th grade graduation ceremony. For band we played the national anthem and then we went to our seats to get called for our diplomas. After I graduated and got my paper to prove it I wanted to get home and sleep because it was my time for a break which I needed. Summer was a constant reminder that I was getting older and I had to start thinking of what I wanted to do. I was contemplating on which activities and sports I wanted to do during my high school years. Because those were just around the corner.

The excuse seemed logical, I mean no real magician would like to draw attention to their 'tricks' and Amelia seemed to want to see more of those, thats a formula for others to see it too and ask for the same.

Perhaps the favor or the sudden development confused her and made her more honest about it. I mean not every day does someone paste a slip which for some reason adds directly to your memory right on your forehead.

Feeling a bit guilty over using her as a experiment subject now he decided to go through with it regardless because it was already too late. He would wait till it showed some result on her then use it himself and write down a written copy for Laura to memorize or perhaps animate the memory into a video so its even easier to follow using his hightech computer. Future projects aside he needed to finish what was on his plate now his plan with Laura.

He also now had a perfect way to get his first customer provided they finish the program which would take some time for two people regardless of how good they are at making it. Perhaps he could have Ray introduce a fat sheep with the phone as bait. Misfortune really does hide fortune if you turn it into opportunity but for now his priority is monitering Amelia and developing the program as well as figuring out a way to truly protect himself and Laura.

"Its alright, in return please let me observe your progress with the magic art. If it goes wrong I would be in more trouble than you"

Finishing up college he headed home, finally walking for the first time in forever. Meanwhile Ray was meeting with his father

After all the kidnapping accident ended with saviors from his side. He assumed that Alex owed a debt for being saved after all he didnt know that Ray was the target and Alex just went along so he wouldnt be alone. Then does Ray owe him? perhaps for emotional support but in the end with or without Alex the outcome was like a scripted event, It would have happened anyway.

"Dad dont forget he got caught because of me to begin with, he didnt need to after all so he doesnt owe us."

"That is true, We might even owe him for letting him be kidnapped in the first place but he made that choice himself"

He stopped tapping the table and leaned back to think a bit. He didnt want to ruin one of his sons true friendships but, he knew his son had a desire to go into technology and he fully supported him. Realestate never was as unprofitable as today, people bought things mainly from the internet nowadays, it made shops that operate fully on physical grounds less efficient. Previously the land around popular shopping districts would be pretty pricey as well as land in gated communities but nowadays people have their items conveniently delivered to their doorsteps. A phone and money is all you need and you can literally never go outside. The land prices might be slowly climbing up due to population but its still not quick enough and the technological industry seemed to have more profit with fewer restrictions.

The people at the top are never innocent or naive, debts must be repaid but only if the other side has the power to make you regret it otherwise.

and they also need to train to be able to use the digital gun accurately, it would probably cost quite a bit as it was electricity powered albiet only as much as a laptop would take, And target practice must be done on shields as anything else would just disappear.
Ideally they wish to be able to find some sort of accuracy gadget on the apocalypse market considering the immortal world wouldnt even have guns but Laura pointed out that archery techniques or something to train the eye and perception would be just as useful.

All of this would cost food items and gadgets, which in small amounts are fine but they dont have the best financial status for what they truly need. In the end Alex remembered that he had an old computer which he wouldnt need anymore thanks to the wonderful laptop he now had. He sold it for 600Mpts and decided to buy some sort of self defense technique, Browsing through he found one named 'perceptionist' which cost 400 points.

[Perceptionist: 400Mpts Trains your perception to its limit. When training using this method one can slow down their perception of time. The actual time is unaffected. This technique raises your processing speed so that you can think quicker giving you the ability to form two or more thoughts in the time it originally took to form one, upto 10x the processing speed]

This technique could be considered a cheat. It wouldnt raise your own speed but your perception would allow you to think of multiple counters when in a fight. Most importantly when paired with the shield bullets would be nothing to fear neither would punches while your own punch would still hurt. Well Alex never intended to punch people anyway for now. Why waste so much effort when a convenient one scratch one kill gun was right besides him?

He bought the skill and like the previous ones happened to be a slip with weird symbols. He pasted it on his forehead but found it was only good for one use the technique was erased from the slip. He took out an empty notebook and began writing it down after all his sister is still his top priority. This would also help him incase he forgot due to a failure in the memory technique or some accident.

Meanwhile Laura thought about selling one of her figurines just to see how much points they would give, surprisingly they gave 40 Mpts. She then sold her old phone for a total of 240 Mpts. Thinking that she would wait till her brother finishes his end of the preparations so they dont end up conflicting each other she spent the remaining time while he was writing simply practicing her coding. The book was pretty miraculous in reality any amount of coding would require days and months of practice to truly develop a web application, same with programming. Although she hadnt mastered it she could claim to know enough to make a simple program which runs as a separate entity.

Alex having finished after a few hours handed her the book which she kept with her and began practicing the technique while she spent her time coding, being a shutin she did not have the same level of urgency as her brother so she chose to focus on the long term goal for now o course she would still practice it later on.

After a while she finally brought up the market and looked up self defense skills. Unlike techniques or manuals skills were infact more expensive but at the same time were learnt instantly. Not just memorized learnt.

She looked up self defense skills and found that the cheapest one was 300Mpts. She still needed 60 more to afford it so she gave up and instead looked up pills. As her brother had told her about them she was curious whether they could help. She knew drugs were bad but were magical drugs bad? 1st Grade strengthening to 4th grade strengthing costed from 20 to 130 she still required 20 more for two batches of 4th grade so she decided to look up 3rd. These were the only pills she knew by name thanks to Alex mentioning them so she tended to prefer them instead of random searches.

Punches depend on momentum so they would usually always be heavier than what you can normally lift. This didnt really make them superhuman but considering an average man can lift 61 KG - 70 KG this would still make them significantly stronger. While a professional can easily punch with a force of over 400KG a normal human can only deliver around 20-200KG at their best day. Considering this was an addition this would put Alex and Laura well over average humans but slightly below professionals. Coupled with the cheat shield and perception they might as well try for world championship.

They continued alternating between programming practice and perception practice the rest of their day.
