Not everyone is born a hero. In the case of superheroes, it's a singular moment that typically sets the individual on the path to becoming a force for good. That's what is known as the origin story. Whether it's an alien with unbelievable powers or a regular Earthling who's just trying to do the best with their natural talents, each comic book protagonist has an experience that leads them on their heroic path. And boy, have there been a lot of these told for both classic and modern heroes. 

The comic book medium has been going strong for more 75 years, and over those decades hundreds, if not thousands, of superheroes have been introduced. Typically these origin stories have been seen across a variety of media by both passionate comic book fans and people who are just looking for a good tale. And just because a hero is successful doesn't mean that they got off to the best start with their origin stories, but when these tales are told right, they're the stuff of legend. Here are some of the most famous superheroes of all time ranked by how great and epic their origin stories are.

1. The X-Men

Of course, each individual X-Men has their own unique stories, but together the team's origin tale is a classic. As mutants, they were all born with their abilities rather than imbued with them by science, magic or aliens. Consequently, many of these people face mistrust and bigotry from the general population who view them as freaks of nature. However, despite their persecution, they still use their powers to protect the innocent. Brought together by Charles Xavier, the X-Men not only combat threats ranging from fanatical humans to fellow mutants, but their overall mission is to fight for the rights of their fellow mutants and usher in a world of acceptance and peace. So even though their overall story is based in a superhero world, it's memorable because their goals are similar to what many of us want to achieve in real life.

2. The Flash (Barry Allen)

In the 1950s, DC Comics decided to relaunch several of their most successful superheroes from the 1940s as new individuals. The Flash was the first to receive this treatment, being reintroduced in 1956 as forensic scientist Barry Allen. While working late in his lab one night, he was struck by lightning, which subsequently knocked him into shelf full of chemicals. After waking up, he discovered he could run at superhuman speeds, and donning the red and yellow costume that's become much more recognizable than his predecessor's, Barry became the new Flash and built a quite a supporting cast. Visually it's one of the best origins on this list, but it also has a distinct sci-fi feel to it that few DC hero origins had before it. Many non-comic book fans saw this origin told for the first time back in October on the CW series The Flash.

3. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)

Green Lantern was the second DC hero to be revitalized during the Silver Age of comic books. This time around, test pilot Hal Jordan inherited a special ring after it was bequeathed to him by a dying alien named Abin Sur who had crash-landed on Earth. Unlike the magical ring that the Golden Age Green Lantern wore, Hal Jordan's ring was a product of science that allowed him to use his willpower to fly and make solid constructs with his mind. Inheriting Abin Sur's legacy, Hal became the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814, and the first human to ever join the Green Lantern Corps. Like The Flash, it's memorable for its sci-fi feel, but also to due to how this Green Lantern inherited his heroic legacy from a mysterious visitor (which would later be repeated with Kyle Rayner) whereas his predecessor Alan Scott just sort of stumbled upon his power.

Seen On Screen: In the flawed, but right now only, Green Lantern origin movie with Ryan Reynolds, which hit theaters in 2011.

4. Iron Man

Although the location for Iron Man's origin has changed several times throughout the decades, the story itself has not. While demonstrating some of his creations abroad, Tony Stark was injured and taken captive by enemy soldiers. While in captivity, he was forced to build weapons for these terrorists, but with the help of scientist Ho Yinsen, he built a mechanical suit that allowed him to defeat his captors and escape to freedom. With a renewed perspective on life, Tony uses his new armor to protect the innocent as Iron Man. Not only is it one of best redemption origin stories and full of action as Tony escaped his imprisonment, it also showed that not everyone who becomes a superhero starts out as a moral individual. Sometimes takes a nudge (or in Tony's case nearly dying from shrapnel in your heart) to discover your true potential.

Seen On Screen: Stark's destiny was brought to life by Jon Favreau in 2008's Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead.

5 Captain America

Captain America's origin story wouldn't work well as an anti-drug PSA, but it's an excellent story of trumping over the odds. Steve Rogerswanted to serve in World War II, but his scrawny body and ill health prevented him from enlisting. Fortunately for him, he was chosen as the test subject for Project Rebirth, and after being injected with the Super Soldier Serum, his body became the epitome of physical perfection. Soon after the scientist who created the serum was assassinated by a Nazi spy, leaving the serum's formula lost and making Steve the only one of his kind. He subsequently became Captain America to not only to help defeat the Axis forces, but to become one of the most well-known superheroes in the present-day after being frozen for decades. As mentioned earlier, it's memorable for featuring the little guy rising up to beat the odds, but it also helps that it was an important reflection of the era he was created in and even inspired good to defeat evil in real life.

The audience was impressed by Qin Guan's hips. However, during an interview with audience members coming out of the cinema, a girl said that she wasn't quite clear about the meaning of the story.
"I'm clear about the plot, but the title of the film was really strange. The combination confused me."
"Exactly. We came here for the handsome protagonist. Maybe a more sophisticated person would get it. "
Eventually, some scholars gave an explanation for the common audience. Unfortunately, their explanation confused the audience even more.
Qin Guan received a call from Director Jiang Wen.
"Qin Guan, I have suffered a great loss."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Director Jiang."
"I stopped you this time. Without you, it would have been even worse. I think I have to lay low for a while. If I don't win an award in Venice, no producer will work with me in the next few years."
"Really?" Qin Guan adjusted his posture on the couch. "Did you forget your other profession, Director Jiang? You are a good actor!"
"You are right, Qin Guan. I'll collect some money for my next film by acting!"
Qin Guan didn't know how to comfort the man. As he had said, people wouldn't watch his films again anytime soon.
One had to prepare before getting to work. Qin Guan was shortlisted at the Venice Film Festival for his leading roles in both of his films.
It was hard to understand the judges' train of thought. After so many years of rejecting him, they had finally given him two important opportunities.
If he won the Best Actor Award in Venice, Qin Guan would achieve a Grand Slam in Europe.
He was in an unprecedentedly good mood as he took care of all his affairs and left his wife behind reluctantly. He would fly to the festival by himself.
Due to his fear of being forced out of work in China, he had accepted a new Hollywood film. Its title was "I Am Legend".
This would be Qin Guan's first sci-fi movie. Unlike his previous body double job, this time he would be the real hero of a post-apocalyptic movie.
Plus, this would be his first film with a budget of over 100 million dollars. According to the standards of the Screen Actors Guild, although he had already been a star worth a 10-million paycheck, he had never been involved in a big-budget film before. This would also be the first A-level film with an Asian protagonist.
Nobody could predict the film's box office success. The reason Qin Guan had been cast as the lead was that the film required outstanding acting skills. Qin Guan would basically be reciting a monologue. The other actors only played small parts in the film.
As the producer and the director had been looking for a young actor with extraordinary acting skills, a number of famous directors had recommended Qin Guan.
Thus, the lucky guy had gotten the part. His interpretation of the original version and the two previous adapted scripts impressed director Francis Lawrence.
Francis had been shooting sci-fi films for more than 10 years. He was basically obsessed with them.
Qin Guan convinced the picky director by sending him a video recording a man living alone in a post-apocalyptic world.
His back was against the sun. His eyes looked as blank as a piece of paper. Francis was so moved that he convinced the two producers to replace Will Smith with Qin Guan.
The producers approved the plan unanimously, as Qin Guan had a very good reputation in the circle. They were so confident about him that they invested 150 million dollars on the unique sci-fi film, which surprised Qin Guan. He wondered why a film with basically one actor would cost that much.


Qin Guan was reborn and sent back to his final semester in High School 18 years ago. Getting a second chance at life, he works hard to turn things around and eventually become a Prince Charming. In the darkest hours of the night. 

Inside a study room of an ancient castle, one can see two people, one being a handsome Japanese man with black hair and ice blue eyes, standing with his arms crossed.

In front of the man is a white haired European beautie with red eyes sitting at the desk, her eyes looking at the relative pile of books ranging from "Basic History" to "Harry Potter" with mild curiosity.

Irisviel: So i am to just read these books ?

Akihiko: Yes, for now read some before you sleep, don't read them all at once though and you can ask any questions you want.

It's been another month since i came to the Einzbern Castle but this month, i spend my time teaching Irisviel talking patterns and social interactions, the one teaching being the anti social me of course it wasn't perfect but she will have to fix those herself in time as we progress.

Irisviel: Why am i reading these ?

Akihiko: Because reading is fun ?

Irisviel: Then why aren't you reading ?

Akihiko: I have already read those, i just brought them for you and i am going to build a present for you while you finish them.

The books here are just lighthearted history, some slice of life novels ect. and yes HP counts as slice of life if you compare it to average life of a magus.

Irisviel: What's a present ?

Akihiko: It's a surprise someone gives to another for special occasions or just wants to give.

Irisviel: Can i get it early if i read really quick !

This reaction is what i am working towards, that glimmer of expectation, that light in her eye that's carrying emotions.

Akihiko: *Chuckle* Well, i asked you to read them slowly since the present isn't ready yet.

Irisviel: I see...

Aww, *Head pats intensifies*

Irisviel: That's somehow warm ?

I am going to make her addicted to head pats by the time we leave here. There's just something calming about patting heads.

While my plan is in motion i have took an book out of the necklace for myself, while it may have been to just "create" a car that's running with prana, i enjoy the building process itself.

So for this i am further researching into runes in my head since i can finally use the shiny ones that needs divinity and i am also reading about cars and it's components, how does engines work, how the wheels gets wired to the steering wheel ect.

I am going to build this stuff from scratch while making a Prana/Chakra powered engine for it, it's going to work and sound like a car but it won't have all the nasty bad sides of destroying the environment.

Our lives went along as Irisviel slowly read her books and i started to draw a concept look for the internal of the car.

At some point i finally decided to introduce her to movies, i didn't show her any Sci Fi or any fantasy ficton since her common sense is not at the point of differencing it from reality, i don't want her to think there are real Jedi out there... Well technically there are in a another universe but that's not the point.

So she got to watch stuff like Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, sometimes comedy, i really wanted to make her watch, Scary Movie(not horror it's the name of it) but i held back even i have no idea how that would effect her.

For the whole year she read books, watched movies and asked me questions about them and things she didn't understand and there were some deep questions there like, "Why people hurt each other" or "Why did they hit children" or "Why wars happen" like seriously even i don't know the answers for those, i just gave her my opinions on them while adding that these are my views and it could change from person to person.

She seemed like she was reaching to a conclusion with every anwser i gave her.

At the end of the year in december. One could see Irisviel looking after some winter flowers in the garden of the castle.

This part of the garden is hers, she wanted to look after a living being, well she first asked for a pet but i gave the opinion of flowers.

I doubt a pet would stay as a pet here, up in the mountains filled with wolves and bears.

Anyway, i observe her as she took care of her garden then she stopped and turned to me.

Irisviel: Akihiko, may i ask something ?

She seems fidgety like she's embarrassed to ask whatever she's going to ask.

Akihiko: Sure, don't hold back.

Irisviel: Can i ask about your life ? ... I mean we always watched those movies and i am reading those books but i am starting to feel they don't really reflect reality, like i have watched people live their lives but even in those ones that set in medieval time doesn't reflect our lives.

After that she talked about the difference of the lives of people in fictional works and our own.

While she expressed that she wanted something "Genuine" i just had a brilliant smile on my face.

Finally she grew up and realized the difference. I didn't want to make her watch movies and just after that say "Hey those are not real" it's like Santa, child should realize that it's not real on their own. At least that's my opinion.

Irisviel: Mou! i am saying something serious here please don't laugh at me *Pouts*

Damn it, she's too cute, going to her side i just pinched her cheeks and patted her head.

Akihiko: hahaha i am not laughing at you, i was just happy that you realized what's different between fiction and real life.

Irisviel: You did that on purpose... that's mean! 

*Head pats*

Irisviel: That won't save you! You're going to feel my wrath!

She said that while punching my chest! so cute !

If one were to observe from outside, one can see a man head patting a flustered women while the women in question is trying to ran away from her embarrassment by hitting the man even more.

After Irisviel's awakening to common sense and her subsequent realization of what's real or not, i introduced her to Sci Fi and Fantasy genre's.

She wasn't all that exited about fantasy since you know we're living in a world with magecraft and magic.

On the other hand she started to ask stuff about my life, i have made a confusion barrier that surrounding two of us to make sure we're not being listened and filled her in on my real identity of Sixth Magician, there's no reason to lie to her.

She being a Homunculus came equipped with knowledge of important people and that of course includes me as well.

Irisviel: What! if you're the Sixth Magician why seek the grail ? doesn't your power alter reality ?

To her question i explained chakra and how i made them buy it Sixth Magic by the end of my explanation she was really amused at me fooling the whole moonlit world.

Irisviel: But then again, why seek the grail if you have such powers ?

Akihiko: Answer is, i am not seeking the grail.

Irisviel: Then why go through such long preparations to get hired and bother with the family head ?

To this question i pointed at her, this is going to be a cheesy line but there's just no other way to put it.

Akihiko: It's going to sound weird but i am just here for "you".

She halted for a while before continuing.

Irisviel: What do you mean ?

Akihiko: Don't misunderstand me, i am here for "you" not the grail.

Irisviel: I don't understand how did you knew about me back then to prepare for all of this.

Akihiko: Iris, you have just awakened your personality and you're already confused, i will answer all of your questions in time but can you shelve that question for now.

Irisviel: You're right, my head feels like there's lead inside.

*Healing head pats*

Irisviel: Thank you.

Smiling i kept patting her. Not like i can tell her that she was a anime character just yet, it would break the common sense i have strived to build. Just getting out of this world is going to blow hee mind.

What she's drawing is a car... A car that's awfully similar to the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback in the Fast& Furious Tokyo Drift...

Akihiko: Really ? you want to car to be like this ?

At my mention Irisviel stopped drawing and turned to me with stars in her eyes.

Irisviel: Yes! look at that it looks awesome but*Finger at me* you have to make it fast as well got it!

Akihiko: Well i am happy to see you got some hobbies, it's better than gambling i guess.

At my grumbling Irisviel tilted her head not understanding why would i mention gambling at this point of conversation, i just shook my head not wanting to talk about it.

Akihiko: Well finish your sketching then i will start building it, now i need to go and see Acth.

I left the room while Irisviel waved me goodbye.

It has been two years since i came here meaning there's 8 years left for the war, during this time i managed to "crack" Acth's head and got him to pack up everything Einzberns owned in a discreet manner.

Also since he's under my thumb i don't need the whole, "She needs to watch Star Wars Marathon to understand society" deals and excessive use of Kotoamatsukami.

Now days Acth could be seen acting polite even to his maids and being relatively humane, who would have thought he would became more humanlike after i messed with his head anyway.

The reason i want the Einzberns is that i have finally have a life supporting planet inside me Yaaay!

What that's about you might ask and here's the answer.

I already have the ownership of the Naruto World and i will own this one after my business is done but there's nothing better than your own creation.

In this case my plan is making a giant dungeon in Naruto and Nasuverse worlds that will spread my religion and those who get in and survive will be transferred to the "New World" 

My own world, where resources are plenty and chakra is dense, yes i am going with chakra and the dungeon itself will help people adjust to it, only those who pass through the challenges shall step on the "New World"

The beasts inside will be either be made by me or will be transferred from the two worlds but no peaceful beast shall be used as monsters. Peaceful races like faires get free tickets inside.

There's even a prize for being early, those who finish early will become the moderator gods of the place and those who reach the new world first and transferred into my version of Valhalla or Olympus or whatever.

Don't get me wrong when i say this though to go through the dungeon you need both physical and mental strength and i will make sure to cut the bad seeds before they bloom.

Not like i can end all evil but i can choose the what kind of evil i will allow.

What about the ones don't give a shit or can't participate, fear not. The dungeon is not mandatory.

Those who want to stay in their own world will stay in their own world. Living and dying reincarnating and eventually they will get in the dungeon.

After 10-100 generations whole Nasuverse and Naruto World will transferred to my own world, It's not perfect but this is the best i could come up with.

I am going to have the Einzberns Homunculus act like Valkyries but they will have their own will, they will just have set of rules that shouldn't be broken.

Not like i am arrogant or childish like the generic gods.

WARNING my stories generally lack spirit i write for fun and to free my head from this particular plot.

Expect inconsistency bullshit power ups and messed up logic and also don't expect good grammar.

Since they were already here, just depending on verbal description wasn't enough. Hong Dali pointed towards the direction where the entrance to the sci-fi town was and said, "Since we are here, then let's go take a look. Uncle Chief, we don't lack the time for this, right?"
"Yup, indeed, we can spare the time." The Bureau Chief nodded and replied, "Then, let's go take a look."
Hong Dali and group walked through the entrance to the sci-fi town.
Currently, the sci-fi town was busy with the construction. The foundations were all laid down, and the workers were already constructing the buildings now. Hong Dali pointed at a piece of large scale construction and asked, "What is that?"
"That's going to become a shopping center." The Bureau Chief explained. "The investment for that is 10 million. It's considered mid-sized, we didn't go for a large-scale one."
"Oh…" Hong Dali ohed and looked left and right at the land. "This piece of land is quite large, the scale is quite big."
"It's average." The Bureau Chief nodded. "Compared to the other constructions in the sci-fi town, this is only on an average scale."
"How can average do." Hong Dali decisively expressed his dissatisfaction. "Tear it down!"
The Bureau Chief stared in bewilderment. "Tear it down!? It's already built so high now, and you want to tear it apart just like that? Also, that's a cost of 10 million yuan, that's already enough for it. There isn't a need to make one that's too good!"
"This is already enough? Isn't this too little…" Hong Dali twitched his lips. "It's a waste to build just a 10 million scale shopping center on such a big piece of land. Tear it down. Let me think, it should be just nice for a 50 million scale shopping center…"
A 50 million scale shopping center, are you planning to fit everything that exists in the world into the shopping center?
"You little rascal!" The Bureau Chief almost went crazy. "Do you have any notion what a 50 million scale shopping center will be like? That's just the construction cost! It's not inclusive of the cost of the land and the equipment and items for sale! That's 50 million, how high will the shopping center be!?"
It's just 50 million, that's only five attribute points. That's not a lot…
Hong Dali mumbled, "I'm still thinking that this isn't really enough now. I want to build the largest shopping center in the entire world! The largest! Except for aviation carriers, I want to sell everything that's purchasable in there!"
This kid is really planning to do something unimaginable!
"Are you seriously going to build the largest shopping center?" The Bureau Chief face-palmed. "The level of investment, manpower, and resources needed are no joke. 50 million worth of construction cost is enough to build a 50-level high skyscraper!"
"Yup, it's decided! This is the kind of effect I want!" Hong Dali decided without another word, then pointed at another building. "What is that?"
"A movie theater." The Bureau Chief was listless now. "It occupies a land of 70,000 square meters. It's divided into fifty screening rooms. This is already the highest specification in the Nation now, there isn't a need to tear this one down too, right?"
He was really afraid now, afraid that this rascal Hong Dali would want to tear it down without any hesitation.
"Oh, this one's still not bad, there isn't a need to tear it down." Then, another word came out from his mouth. "Change!"
Tang Muxin sighed. She wouldn't have let him come here if she knew this would happen… Now, a lot of money would be flowing out…
"What the heck!" The always insipid Bureau Chief directly swore. "What's there to change? Is a 70,000 square meters movie theater still not enough? Do you still want to change it? Change into what!?"
"The largest movie theater in the world, one that is of the highest standard!" Hong Dali's eyes were shining off light. 
"Just one screening room will do! Only just one! I want to to use Holographic Projection for it. I want the whole movie theater to be equipped with Holographic Projection technology! I want the audiences to watch the movie as if they are inside it! Oh right, the seats need to be awesome too—they must be able to shake! The stereo sound system must be very sharp and explosive as if they are really happening in reality! Just like reality!"
"Little rascal…" The Bureau Chief stared in bewilderment. "What are you trying to do? Just one screening room, how is that enough to play the movies?"
"Of course it's enough, it will only play the movies that I like. Hehe, it will play whichever one that I want to see, how will it not be enough?" Hong Dali grinned. "Once my 'Holy Warriors of the Goddess' comes out, I will play it here. That scene will definitely be very stunning!"
The Bureau Chief carefully pondered over Hong Dali's words. You don't say, if only Holographic Projection movies were played here, that would really be a special characteristic of this theater—only one such place in the world, no others! It would definitely be quite popular.
"All right, then let's change this too." In the end, the Bureau Chief could only agree.
As they were discussing, they had already walked further on. In front of them was a big plaza with many cars parked on it. Hong Dali was instantly amused upon seeing them. "Oh my, isn't this the Toyoda Prime Minister Grade limousines? Let me take a look. Yup, there's 200 plus of them. Looks like that fool Ko Gohon really kept his word. But why are these cars all parked here?"
"This is the taxi company that you talked about." The Bureau Chief snappily said, "That's 240 Toyoda Prime Minister Grade limousines, and now they are taxis because of you…"
"Oh…" Hong Dali touched his chin and looked at the hardworking workers working on the construction sites. Then, he suddenly said, "Don't let the cars just lying around here. Put them to use. Use these cars to send the workers back home after work or something. If not, we can use them for transporting bricks too."
Upon hearing Hong Dali's words, Tang Muxin couldn't resist anymore and burst out laughing.
These were Toyoda Prime Minister Grade limousines, each worth a million yuan and more. But now, they were going to be used for sending workers to and from work or even used to transport bricks. It was really amazing that Hong Dali could even think of something like this!
"Little rascal, are you trying to provoke a war between us and Jaban!?" The Bureau Chief jumped on his feet. "You shouldn't humiliate them like that!"
"They can't do anything to me even if I do that, right?" Hong Dali twitched his lips in disdain. "I shall just slap them if they are not happy with it. It's not like it's the first time anyway…"
"You are really vicious!" The Bureau Chief gritted his teeth. "Then let's do this!"
"Hehe, you are really awesome, Uncle Chief!" Hong Dali beamed with delight. "I promise I will do my best to squander from now on and not let the Nation down!" This was probably the first time that someone linked squandering to not letting the Nation down in such a weird and straightforward way. It was something that only Hong Dali could do…
Then, they continued walking. As they walked, the Bureau Chief pointed and said, "Currently, this area is mainly focusing on constructing government buildings and all kinds of housing estates. Government buildings are a must to have. The housing estates are mainly gathered in the southwest area. The aim is for the people living here to have a shorter traveling time to Tianjing City. Very quickly, they came to a large temporary house. A guy wearing a construction hat was pointing at the blueprints and talking to his men. Upon seeing the Bureau Chief bringing Hong Dali and his group over, he hurriedly walked up and greeted them. "Bureau Chief. Young Master Dali."
The Bureau Chief hurriedly introduced him to Hong Dali. "This is our Nation's Chief engineer, Su Jian."
"Hello, Engineer Su." Hong Dali beamed with delight and greeted him. Then, he looked at the lackey beside him and said, "Reward, 10 pieces!"
The lackey instantly took out 10 golden bricks from his pocket and stuffed them into Su Jian's hands, smiled, and said, "This is from the Young Master, please keep them properly."
Ten golden bricks as tips! Engineer Su stared in bewilderment while the Bureau Chief face-palmed. "This little rascal…"
The Bureau Chief was already mentally prepared for this, but Su Jian was not. Holding the 10 gold bricks in his hands, he asked in shock, "Bureau Chief, this… Can I actually keep them? Being the biggest prodigal in history, Hong Dali didn't feel any special and just asked, "Engineer Su, how is the progress for the construction work currently? Is there a planning map that I can see? This place is too big, I only saw a few places just now. That's not enough at all!"

I want the grandest and fabulous hotel in the whole world. Its nickname shall be The Star of Tianjing! Magnificent and luxurious shall be its description—it must be very big and grand!"
Su Jian hurriedly noted it down. "Seven-star hotel, the grandest in the world."
"Little rascal!" The Bureau Chief was going crazy. "If your hotel is that grand, who is going to stay in it! A seven-star hotel! Even five-star hotels don't have a lot of customers nowadays!"
"I don't care about that." Hong Dali sniffled. "I'm only in charge of providing ideas to squander." He even took out the Hong Dali Seal and waved it in front of the Bureau Chief. "As for whether you are willing or not, that isn't my concern…"

Just after the interview ends, Hong Dali opens the Great Prodigal System's interface and looks at the various good stuff displayed in it. Stroking his chin, he mumbles to himself, "I just need to squander 200 billion yuan more to exchange for the blueprint of the core technology, Engine Destruction, found in the strongest humanoid mecha weapon, Neo Granzon. Looks like I'll have to work harder!"

Ikki" Ittou Shura."

Suddenly Ikki, who was moving around the arena with movements that could no longer even be tracked by human eyes, used his astounding speed to appear at Stella's blindside and ended everything, With a single slash.

At a speed that could be neither dodged nor blocked, without even a chance to scream, Stella took a direct hit from Intetsu.

Stella" Ah" she grunted in pain.

She felt the ground under her feet dissolving, and then Stella's thoughts fell into darkness. It was a special kind of unconsciousness imposed by an illusionary fatal wound. Just like its name suggested, Ittou Shura felled the Crimson Princess with just one cut, and Stella fainted powerlessly.

Kurono" That's enough! Winner, Ikki Kurogane!"

Even though Kurono called Ikki's victory, and the stunning result stood before their very eyes, the students in the arena still didn't quite comprehend what had happened. All they could do was stare at the figure of the Failed Knight silently standing there.

Academy Hallways

Eikishi" That was a good fight from both sides. Wouldn't you say so Touka."

Touka" Mhh indeed it was, I enjoyed the fight. Eikichi there's something I want..." But before she could finish he sentence Eikichi stomach growled. 

Eikichi himself was scratching the back of his head in embarrassment while touka just smiled and offered him some food to eat with her in the student council room. And he accepted gladly.

Entering the student council room Eikichi could only describe it in one word. Messy. There were books, equipment and pieces of piles of clothing everywhere.

Touka was embarrassed and quickly tried to clean everything up. Tho I helped her out in the end. 

Eikichi" So where are the other student council members. Or is it just you."

Touka" There probably either patrolling the premises or proceeding with the paperwork after the match. And done, thank you again for helping, you didn't have to."

Eikichi" But I wanted to, plus the quicker it gets dons the faster I get to have your cooked food."

Touka" Haha, yes I'll only be 30 minutes to an hour so you can rest on the in the living room or watch some tv."

He complied and sat on the sofa. He looked around and saw something he would thought to have never see in a long time. 

On the far left corner. The place me and touka didn't have to clean there was a collection of books I hadn't seen since my childhood.

A collection of all 118 books I wrote. About a Phoenix in a sci-fi setting. There was even the limited edition author handwritten chapter zero. One of the 10 items on my prize list.

The prize list was a configuration of my best works. Those that were limited edition were ten or fewer. There where 7 limited edition items that one had to collect In order to get the special prize. Book zero of rising from the ashes was one of them.

Smiling he summoned a quill out of nowhere and signed the copy. He would have liked to make it out to the owner but he/She wasn't here so he could do it at a later date.

After 45 minutes lunch was ready and we had a good time talking And could say we were already friends.

Eikichi' Maybe coming to the academy wasn't that bad After all. He's got a new freind plus he gets to spend time with kurono.'

2 hours later, student council room

Touka was handling some paperwork for tomorrow's opening ceremony when one of her friends gathered everyone's attention. It was her treasurer Kanata.

Kanata" Ara, Ara, did any of you touch my limited edition abe sensei rising from the ashes book."

Everyone looked at each other but held slight confusion. Just as everyone was wracking their brain on who would touch Kanatas prized book, touka finally realized just who she had been talking to all day.

Touka" Ahhhhh, why didn't I figure it out sooner."

It was now everyone's turn to look at there friend in confusion. Realizing that her friends were looking at her concerned. She proceeded tell them about Eikichi's. Or better known for two titles. Abe sensei, and The demon prodigy.

Utakata" You're telling me you were with one of the most famous people of this generation Abe sensei himself and only just realized. As expected of President." Everyone humed, tho were trying to hold back there laughter.

Touka Could only pout and look at her friends with annoyance. 

Eikichi abe, tho with only D rank potential In magic was able to get a promoted to B rank because of his scary control over the little magic he had as an average blazer.

Tho what set him apart from everyone else was that it was said he's only ever summoned his device twice in a match. Tho one of them was a private match between an unanimous leaguer and the other official written down summons was against someone who's said to be the strongest swordsmen, Twin wings, Edelweiss.

Alarm" Ring, ring, ring, ring."

Kurono' uggg, better wake up for the opening ceremony.' 

Slowly opening her eyes she was greeted to an all to familiar sleeping face. It was Eikichi's.

kurono' When did he, sigh, I can't even be bothered to argue this early.' She saw that while Eikichi was lying down she was on top of him having slept on his soft yet chiselled chest. She sniffed and smelled his scent. One she had really missed but would never admit to.

She had brought her hand to his cheek and started stroking it lovingly. She wasn't afraid he would suddenly wake up as he could sleep through a battlefield. Which he actually did.

She looked at the face of the boy that took her first time. Tho not proud that she was still inexperienced in the act of copulation. She was happy that the one who she did it with was him.

Even if They were both drunk and had a third participant. She blushed a bit thinking about every moan and groan. Every time he called out her name she his. The moment of entry and the time of release. She could only thank kami it was a safe day.

Looking at the time, she had to get ready for the opening ceremony so she decided to peck his lips an action he uncontionsly returned.

Kurono" Haa...Eikichi, Baka ." Tho she called him an idiot there was no denying the warm feeling of someone worrying about you. Especially if that person is the one you love.

I woke up early than usual and reminded myself it's Christmas today and I could not feel any zeal of it, I never did. Christmas was meant to be a festival but for us it was different, every year it is used an event to promote sinful mafia businesses and that meant trouble every Christmas. And this year, I was the victim who has to undergo the wrath of fate or I should call wrath of my father. He  has always been selfish and I could not expect anymore from him. 
I brushed my teeth,took a long, hot shower and put my orange jumpsuit with stripes on.
I decided to leave my hair open and headed towards dining hall where everybody were having their breakfast. I thought I was early today but never mind!
I wished Merry Christmas to all and everyone wished me back expect Mr Costello. He doesn't have manners I guess.  my mother said, 

"Good morning, sweet heart.You are up early, today."

"Oh! but I think I'm the last person to reach here."

I stated and Franco's mother smiled and said, 

"Don't worry you are not late,we just gathered here come and serve yourself, El."

She is so sweet to believe that she is actually the wife of one of the most cold hearted men I know. Franco's nature must be inherited by her. 
I smiled and took my seat to breakfast. 
I served myself a toast, a pancake and a freshly brewed coffee. My father was reading newspaper and Franco's father was busy taking information about functioning of his business in his absence. Everyone was quiet,just Neel asking silly questions from Franco about his cars and all. 
After breakfast everyone left for their respective works. I did not wanted to go to my room and feel caged so I decided to walk around in our garden.Franco saw me,not going in the direction of room and came to me to ask, 

"Are you going somewhere?"

"Just to check out the new blossoms in the garden."

I replied. 

"Can I join you?"

He asked. 

"Why not? let's go."

The weather was perfect to have a walk. Franco walked with me and we noticed some fresh roses and Lilies growing.I showed to Franco the small purple iris plants which planted last year and they were starting to bloom. We also had daffodil,dahlia,etc. I told him about some rare flowers like Anguloa Uniflora, Floxglove,craddle orchids and few other of plants and he tried to grasp the information and said, 

"Wow you know so much about gardening."

"I have always loved plants,many of them I planted myself from my childhood till now. I love to have varieties of them in my garden and during spring this once looked like heaven."

I said,imagining the fragrance and view of this place during spring.

"The weather is good today, it's snowing now.Do you want to take a drive to enjoy the the great Christmas day?"

Franco asked. Yes I wanted to go with him but what if I was needed in the house and my father would be angry if he found me missing. 

"Yeah I want to but I don't think we can go now as my mother would be needing for the preparation of eve."

I felt bad,rejecting when he actually asked for the first time. 

"Never mind,we can go some other time."

said Franco. 

We went back inside and headed toward our respective rooms. The party will start at six in the evening and it was just eleven now. I was bored just roaming around in my room and regretted,not going with Franco. I decided to take a nap and it took me half an hour of struggling to finally fall asleep.
I was awaken by the knock on the door I noticed time,it was already two, I thought everyone must have had their lunch by this time,who could it be.I got up from the bed sleepily and reached the door rubbing my eyes,slightly shocked by discovering Franco on door he smiled and asked, 

"Did I disturb your sleep?"

"No,not a problem. Do you need something?"

I asked.

"No, you were just missing during lunch and I was bored without anyone's company, so I thought why not go to you."

"Oh! yeah, you are welcome."

I opened door for him and he entered my room for the first time. 

"Do you read these books?"

He asked noticing my book shelf. 

"Yeah I like reading especially sci-fi books."

I said. 

"I read a few books and I do like reading but don't get enough time for it under the burden of being future alpha."

He said with somewhat guilt in his voice and then smiled. oh! he looks so hot when he smiles.

We talked about books and his favourite movies which informed that he too is a big sci-fi fan and most of the movies we loved were common. 
We sat on my bed and he told me about events of his childhood. When he first held a gun and his hands shook a drilling machine,he got beaten up by his dad for failing on hitting his target which was a living human. I felt bad for him. He was just 15 when this happened.
I told him about my birthdays and how Cindy never leaves a chance to make them special since we were child and how we have grown together.
We talked and talked,laughed together and the  time passed it was already fou and we did not realise that we have spent so much time chatting. 
My mom came to inform, 

"You should get ready now, we have to go to the party."

Then she noticed Franco and asked, 

"You needed something?You should have came to me."

She said in an overly concerned voice. Stop acting for once,mom!

"No, I was just bored so came to get her company."

Franco said. 

"Oh! then it's good."

she replied and left after asking us to get ready fast. 

"So,bye for now.See at the hallway."

He grinned and left.

In the study room filled with the fragrance of books, gu kuangen sat opposite mr. yang tian and said with a faint smile, "mr. yang tian, your price is too high. according to what i know, mr. charles from abroad, his `tenth resurrection' only sold for 100 million. although your three novels are very well written, but 10 billion..."

That's right, yang tian offered 10 billion for the rights to the three novels!

For the past week, Andrew has been going steady with rehabilitation. He is driven by the thought of seeing his friends and family again, and May. All the apps were out of date and his phone number had been deactivated many years ago. Andrew is disappointed, but he decided not to bother with it anymore. The phone has been put back in the box as a relic of the past.

Andrew is in the cafeteria for breakfast.
"Good morning, Andrew." Helen walks up to him with her own plate.
"Morning." He responds.
"Lacking energy?" 
"I just didn't sleep well, that's all."
"Well, that's understandable." Helen responds. "So, how do you feel about living?"
Andrew looks at her, surprised by the random question.
"It's okay, I guess. The food is alright and the bed is comfier than what I remember from hospital beds."
Helen nods. "Anything else? Maybe about you know… " She pauses for a bit. "This timeline? If you know what I mean."
[I wouldn't really call it a timeline.]
"I like reading books, which is new for me too." Andrew responds.
"Nice, nice, which genres?" Helen says excitedly.
"History books, and sci-fi."
"Sci-fi huh." Helen says. "That's actually interesting, given science fiction in your time could be reality right now."
[And what about history?]
"Well," Andrew starts. "It's not actually that different from the past. Time and space travel stories still seem to be a thing. I've taken a better liking in history books, though."
"Why? I'd say they're boring."
"I thought so too, but it just interests me to read about things I could've seen happening, but didn't. I don't know why, exactly."
Helen shows a slightly worried expression, but quickly covers it up with a smile. But it was in vain, as Andrew had already noticed it.
"You look worried." He says.
[Calling it out directly works best, at least that's what I've read.]
"No, it's nothing. You should know the gist of it by now. Anyway, I should show you around the Recreational Area, where most patients spend their time throughout the day."
[Changing the topic I see, but I almost forgot there were other people here too. Of course there are, she mentioned them multiple times.]

They finish up their breakfast and walk to the recreational area. It is on the same floor as the cafeteria, and close to it as well. Helen opens the door and lets Andrew pass through first. He is greeted by a large space, with couches, chairs, tables, two televisions, computers, a large bookcase and an outside area. The glass obscures the things that reside in the outside area, so he can't make out what they are. There are a few people, definitely older than Andrew, playing a card game at one of the tables. Andrew and Helen walk up to them.
"Hey, guys! Playing Poker?" Helen says to them.
"Good morning Helen, and no, we're playing Hearts." One of them responds. "I see you're here to introduce us to someone."
"That's correct, this here is Andrew. He woke up a little less than two weeks ago. You're the only ones here this early, so I thought I'd introduce him to you."
Andrew shakes each of their hands.
[There's no need to say my name right? They've already heard it.]
"Mike."
"Wilhelm, nice to meet you."
"Chris, and this here is Joe."
The four men, probably in their thirties or forties, greet Andrew nicely and offer him a seat on the couch.
[Someone was also named Mike in my class, I wonder how he's doing. This definitely isn't him however. Way too old.]
Andrew sits down on the couch next to Wilhelm, while Chris gets another chair for himself. They put their cards down on the table.
"I'll be leaving now, hopefully you can get along and play a game together." Helen says. She leaves the recreational area, and walks down the hallway.
"Andrew, was it?" Wilhelm addresses him. He has a slightly German accent, one that Andrew has never heard before. Andrew nods.
"So, where're you from? Or I should say when, actually." The others laugh at Wilhelm's wordplay, although it wasn't even that funny.
"Twenty-nineteen." Andrew responds. "And you?"
"I died in 1999, only a month before the millennium change." Wilhelm says. "T'is a shame, I got impaled by a m… "
Andrew gets a shiver by the words coming from Wilhelm's mouth.
"Woah there Wilhelm, he doesn't need to know yet." Mike interrupts him. "Your death was the most gruesome of us four, so it'll be best to tell him last, when he's all good again."
"Ah, I'm sorry." Wilhelm holds Andrew's shoulder. "I'll tell you one day, kid, one day."
[He's a bit of an oddball, but he listens.]
"It's fine, I'll ask you about it when I can."
Wilhelm lets go of his shoulder.
"So," Andrew starts "why are you saying you died? All of you are still here."
Chris sits up right, signalling he is going to answer that question.
"About a month or two ago, we didn't feel estranged to the fact that we died anymore, so we decided it would be the best way to describe our accidents." Chris starts. He speaks every word formally and has thought every sentence through. "I understand why you're still a bit estranged by the fact of your death, and your arrival here."
[For such formal sentences, using estranged twice really jumps out.]
Andrew looks at Chris for a moment, processing what he just heard.
[Wait, two months ago?]
"How long have you all been here for?" Andrew asks.
"About four or five months, I don't exactly know." Mike says. "We all woke up at around the same time, and we didn't have anywhere to go, so we stuck together."
"So you're allowed to stay here?"
"We probably will for the rest of our lives, so yeah." Mike answers.
Suddenly, Joe rapidly makes movements with his hands, and Chris looks at it intensely.
[What is this, is he mute?]
"Joe asks how old you are, and what your accident was." Chris says. "Joe you know you can't really ask that, he woke up just two weeks ago."
Joe nods, and makes a few more signs to Chris.
"Oh, I see. We'll see what he responds."
[What did he ask?]
"Well, I don't know how I died, I forgot most of that day. I only know it was the day before we… "
Andrew stops his sentence, but leaves his mouth open.
[We were supposed to celebrate.]
Andrew is unable to continue speaking, as a throbbing sensation fills up his throat.
[We were supposed to celebrate, our two year anniversary, of being together.]
A tear wells up in his eye. Chris jumps up.
"Hey man are you okay? We shouldn't have asked that, I should've seen it coming." He says.
"Oh shit, sorry Andrew." Mike says.
"Mike don't swear in front of our new friend." Chris says.
Wilhelm and Joe are silent, with a guilty expression on their face.
Andrew wipes the tear away.
"No, I'm okay, it's fine." He says. "It just made me realise, something."
"It's okay, you don't have to tell us right now." Chris tells him.
Andrew lifts his face. "It's not your fault Joe, or yours, Wilhelm. I've just been a bit unstable for the past week."
"Well, if you say so." Wilhelm says. Joe makes quick signs with his hands.
"He apologises, and says we should talk about happier things, right?" Chris translates, and Joe nods.
"Yeah." Andrew says. "And I'm seventeen, if you don't count the past forty years or so."
"You're the youngest I've seen here." Chris says. "You look older, though, but only a little."
"Well," Wilhelm starts. "Let's play a game, you know the rules of Hearts?"
"Yeah, I've played it on vacation a few times."
Wilhelm starts shuffling the cards, and divides them across them.
"I'll make a team with Joe." Chris says. "You can't play it with five."
The cards are divided and they start playing.
During the game, they talk about their experiences from the past, about finding their pleasure in playing card games together, their friends, family. Andrew sheds a few more tears while talking about them, but this time, they are tears of joy thinking back to the experiences he had with them. He tells them he wants to see his friends and family as soon as possible. They play a few more different card games, and have lunch together at the cafeteria.
"You have lunch at twelve?" Andrew asks.
"You don't have lunch at twelve?" Mike returns.
"Well, I usually eat at around two or so, back at home too."
"Could be the difference in generation." Mike says. "If you want to keep eating lunch with us you'll have to adjust your schedule, sorry."
"No, no, that's okay."
[They all seem really apologetic here, Helen too.]

They all sit around a table of six, leaving one chair empty. The cafeteria is a large open space, with numerous tables, chairs and couches ordered tightly in the room. There are shutters around the tables, to account for privacy. Opposite of the entrance is a large window, just like in Andrew's room, and most of the other rooms around the centre. Right of the entrance is the self-service cafeteria, where you can place your order on a machine, and it'll be ready for you within minutes. The greater deal of the tables are situated left of the entrance.
Helen enters the cafeteria and notices them at their table. She places and takes her order before walking up to them.
"I knew I could find you here." Helen says. "Looks like you're getting along, were the games fun?" She takes a seat at the empty chair.
"Sure thing, nurse. He even won from Wilhelm once."
"That's something to put on your resume, kid." Wilhelm says. "If you were applying for Poker competitions in the seventies that is."
"Yeah, the professional card games scene has probably changed a lot." Mike adds. "Your talent could be noted in an old book somewhere, Wilhelm."
"If I were, I should've found it already."
Andrew looks at him with a questioning expression, and Wilhelm quickly picks it up.
"It was in 1977." He starts. "I was playing in the finals of the Poker World Cup."
[That existed? I've never heard of it.]
"Many say luck is the greatest factor in Poker, but I don't think that's true. While luck is a factor, it doesn't decide the outcome. You also need a great deal of predictive capabilities and memory, of your opponent's possible hands."
Helen leans in closer to Andrew and whispers in his ear.
"Wilhelm likes telling stories, and doesn't like being interrupted. Once he starts, he can't be stopped." She whispers.
[He was stopped when he started talking about his accident, but it depends on the context I assume.]
Wilhelm continues his long story about Poker, while the others continue their lunch.
"So, finally, I was able to be victorious over him, and won the Poker World Cup of 1977. Using skill, not luck."
"Well, I'd say I used all my luck on that one match then." Andrew replies.
"So it seems. Anyway, after that one victory, my life went downhill, and I ended up being im… "
"That's far enough, Wilhelm." Mike interrupts him.
"Ah, sorry. I'll tell you that part later."
[Yep, the context.]
They finish their lunch and leave the cafeteria.
"Looks like you're getting along, that's great." Helen tells Andrew. "I'll be going back to work now, my next patient is coming up, so I also won't be with you as often anymore."
"That's fine." Andrew replies. "I can find my way around and I found new friends."
Helen smiles. "You're recovery was quick, really quick." She says. "Before you leave here, we will read those letters together, okay?"
"Yeah" Andrew responds. Helen leaves for her office, and Andrew returns to Mike, who is the last one left in the hallway.
"The others already went to their rooms, and I'll be on my way too." Mike says.
"Ah, I see."
"If you ever want to play or talk with us again, just go the recreational area before lunchtime."
"Will do." Andrew says. "See you soon then."
"See you around."
Mike walks up the stairs to his room, but Andrew goes back to the recreational area. He walks up to the bookcase, picks out a fictional history novel, and sits down on the couch.
[I've probably read more in the past week than in the past three or four years.]
He opens the book.
[Past forty years, actually.]
