"You don't look like you believe my offer," Davien commented as he leaned back in his seat, watching Bel intensely.
She lifted her eyes to look at him. "It seems completely out of character, and you have no reason to do this."
"No reason?" He laughed. "I'd rather not have a dead wife if I can help it. I know you went through the map on my desk."
Bel blinked. She hadn't been particularly careful, but she didn't like that he knew. "I was curious," she said.
"As I have found, that is a dangerous thing. I know you didn't just venture out toward the tunnels because you were curious, but at least this way, there would be no need for you to go through such dangerous routes."
"Yeah, and I already agreed. There's no reason to repeat my miscalculations."
