Chapter 02 Entering the Wizarding World

(Going to try and space this chapter differently than the first and see how it looks)

[Grey Residence]

Looking past my mom I saw Professor Snape standing in the doorway observing us to see our reaction. Before my mom has a chance to say anything Snape quickly says, "I'm here about Mr. Grey's acceptance to our school."

"So, you're the one who sent that prank letter, well I'm sorry mister but I didn't sign my son up for any strange school and I would appreciate it if you would please leave my home." my mom responded.

"I'm sure you'll be interested in what I have to say miss, and you will listen to what I have to say." Snape shot back.

Flustered by the seriousness in his voice and his attitude my mom decided to give him a chance to give his "cheesy sales pitch" as she called it. Leading him into our living room Snape took a seat and my mother and I sat on the couch. I could feel Snape staring at me, so I decided to stare back, which he quickly stopped, turning to my mom to he started talking about the school.

"Miss Grey to give you a brief overview of our school you must understand that there exists a group of people, the males we call wizards and the females witches, capable of using magic who exist in hiding to protect our interests from the rest of the world who do not have the power to wield the mystical arts at their very fingers. The witch hunts are the best examples of why we decided to separate ourselves from the mundane world."

My mom interrupted him saying, "that doesn't prove that magic is real and everything you said could be utter nonsense."

"I will provide you with an example if you do not interrupt my explanation, I did not want the job of picking up muggleborn children but I am here anyway so I will see my job through." he reponded. "What you are most wandering about is magic so I will give you a brief history of why are school exists and what its purpose is. Magic folk have existed since the beginning of mankind, we are the people connected most closely to the world and the energies that flow throughout it. We are capable of harnessing this energy to cast what you would call spells, enchant artifacts, and my specialty, brew potions. Bot most important to every witch and wizard is their familiar."

"We do not know where they came from but our world is populated by magical creatures that we can form bonds with and make our familiars. These creatures connect with us at the deepest level granting us easier access to the energies that flow throughout them and hence an easier time using magic for spells. Due to our familiars we have long abandoned the difficult process of mastering spells without bonds, mastering the simplest of spells without our familiars may take years and some may not ever succeed."

"Our school, Hogwarts, Is the greatest school in all of the UK for helping young wizards and witches form bonds with their familiars, learn magic and enter into successful fields of the magical world. Your son has been recognized to have the talent to be a wizard. My job here is to guide the both of you to a part of the magical world where young magic folk and their muggle families can find all the supplies for school, and he can make his first bond so he is prepared to enter the wizarding world." Snape finished.

My mom seemed absolutely flabbergasted by what Professor Snape but was never one to put my safety at risk and quickly said, "You come into my house say all this nonsense without even introducing yourself and you haven't even proven that this magic is even real, I'm seconds from asking you to leave."

"Apologies, my name is Severus Snape and I am the potions professor at Hogwarts, as for magic, I hope this simple demonstration could suffice."

Snape pulled his robe to the side and a snake's head seemed to peak out from the shadows. The snake crawled up his arm resting its head in his hand. 'It can't be I thought.' It wasn't till I saw the blade on its tail that I knew I was right.

"Holy Shit" I exclaimed, Snape immediately gave me a cold stare to which I responded, "it has a blade on its tail."

"This is my first and closest partner, he's a Seviper, one of the magical creatures I told you about. His specialty is his blade like tail where he secretes deadly venoms. My Seviper helped me on my path of potions, every wizard's first familiar has a special bond allowing the wizard to control magic of the type it has affinity for. My Seviper is a poison type creature allowing me a certain control over poison."

"What's it's name?" I asked. "That is personal" he responded.

I quickly turned to my mom and I could tell right away that she was really worried but I really wanted to go to Hogwarts, especially knowing these familiars Snape talked about might be Pokémon.

My mom sighed looking between me and Snape before looking me in the eyes. "Is this want you want William, I don't want to take this choice from you even if it means you going to a school far away from me." she said.

"I'm sure mom, this is definitely what I want!" I excitedly responded.

"Well now that you have decided I do not have all day so I will call the transportation and we will get your school supplies. Miss Grey, I suggest getting some money to be converted to wizard currency."

After my mom ran to her room to get some money we walked outside following Snape. Crossing the lawn we reach the sidewalk where he proceeds to lift his hand up palm up in front of him. I wondered what he was going to do since he didn't have a wand. A small white orb of light coalesced above his hand but looking closer I saw there was purple and other colors mixed in.
